We chose this itinerary because we wanted to see the ruins at Uxmal. I was disappointed that Carnival no longer had this as a ship excursion. I was able to find it through Viator. The ship is a typical Carnival ship without the Cucina del Capitano, which was disappointing. The food was typical cruise food. Good but not great. We had an interior walkway cabin which was extremely comfortable. It has easy access to the outside front of the ship. The crew, like all our other Carnival cruise experiences were amazing. Cruise director Janaee is high energy and fun. We had the Cheers package and thoroughly enjoyed it. We embarked in Galveston which has a fog problem. This delayed embarkation. I understand that this is common in winter, but this is the first time this has happened to us. The embarkation was a mess. Once we checked in it was easy going. The ship was delayed departure. We got to Cozumel late, but were able to stay late. This time we left the children home, looking at the ship, I feel that it would not be the best for young kids compared to the Magic and Breeze. This being our second time on the Dream I guess we would be back. Read Less

What a piece of junk! Needs refurbished, or at least fixed. I never thought it possible for a cruise ships food to be so terrible. The biscuits resembled hardtack not actual biscuits. The crew is either complete novices, or imbeciles. Dining service was cold and had no feeling. Food was terrible. The breakfast buffet was yesterday's leftovers, and the breakfast brunch in Washington dining room was even worse if possible. Tried an egg benedict and it was a soft boiled egg still mostly in the shell on a piece of ham smothered in a yellow gravy that only resembled hollandaise. The cabin was nice. Had a deck 1 porthole. However, some exhaust fan on the crew deck had a broken blade or something that banged against the hull of the ship all night making it nearly impossible to sleep. Overall the service was not up to a typical cruise standard. Perhaps the saddest thing is that Carnival used to have a reputation of being a fun ship. Now it is a sad ship. Entertainment was non existent. Everything in the Ivanhow theater was about shopping excursions, or sales on the ship. How can you take a game such as beer pong and make it so boring that everyone leaves? Sad. Drinks are just water. Food is cold and inedible. Service is non existent. Ports of call, Cozumel is fine. Progresso is a crap town. Took over 1 1/2 hours on a bus to get to merida Centro and stll not much to see. Carnival nickels and dimes every single thing and the cruise director kevin/devin/gavin whatever his name was only cared about selling more crap onboard. Stay away from this ship if you value your money at all Read Less

We booked this cruise last minute to have quick family getaway during the holiday weekend. This was my 10th cruise experience and by far the worst. I did my research on the ship ahead of time so I was aware it was Carnival's oldest ship. For this reason, I was not expecting a lot of beauty and activities that you'll experience on some of the newest or newly renovated ships. I was at least hoping that the service, food and entertainment was up to par but I was sadly disappointed. By looking at the exterior of the ship, you can see it is in need of an upgrade however, the interior main areas were comfortable. Our interior cabin had a strong odor of paint, visible dirt and dust on the walls and furniture. At times a sewer smell would be in the bathroom, and we experienced brown water coming from the faucets. Luckily we had bottled water which we used to wash and brush our teeth. The rooms do not come with a refrigerator. If you'd like one, you have to request one from guest services. They apparently have a limited supply and are only given to those that truly need it for health or dietary purposes. Food in the main dining room was average, the buffet food was often cold and unenjoyable. I am assuming due to the small size of the ship, I felt the motion of the ocean a lot than any other ship I've been on. I lost a drink one evening due to the shaking of our table. Our cruise director was great. The most fun was in the atrium and in the comedy club. Our cabin stewardess was good but the dining staff most evenings were very rude and had an awful tendency to reach over you without saying anything. I almost got elbowed in the face a few times. Photographers had this same poor behavior, sometimes, leaning over my guest just to snap a picture across the table. Thankfully, this was a 4 day cruise, it would have been miserable spending any more time on this ship. Usually, by the end of my cruise, I would want to add a few more days to continue my experience but I could not wait to get back on land being on this ship. I certainly do not recommend cruising on the Fantasy. Book one of Carnival's newer ships. Carnival should strongly consider removing this ship from the sea because I believe it will tarnish the Carnival brand. It is a poor representation of their service. I cruised on the Vista which was a great experience so I have experienced what Carnival has the potential to offer. However, if this was my first Carnival cruise, I would never want to cruise on Carnival again. So any first-time cruisers, save your coins and book on another ship or cruise line, otherwise I think this will ruin your thoughts on the whole cruising experience. Read Less

This was my 7th cruise, 1st on Fantasy. The service was personal and amazing ! The cruise director Andrew (Andy) was the best I have every experienced. He went above and beyond to entertain the passengers. On the last night he hosted an event in the Atrium where he sang and danced as he interacted with the guests. During one song, "American Pie" he poured sugar on himself as the song lyrics rolled "pour some sugar on me". He went over the top! This was a family vacation with my husband and 8 adult children. We were treated with such good care and service by everyone. Our room valet, I Wawan, was so courteous and provided us with anything we asked. Our dinner servers were amazing as well. The wait staff came to anticipate our individual needs before we asked, such as bringing me coffee every night at dinner the moment I sat down. I must give a special shout out to Johnamay. She was part of the dinner service crew that made our experience on the ship. Johnamay danced and sang to one of my daughters, which made my daughter's trip even more memorable. Thank you to all the staff and crew. We will be back. Thank you for sharing us and creating these special memories. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we live in central Florida and prefer to drive to the port. Tampa is about 1.5 hour drive for us. We are early 60's and this time our daughter and granddaughter joined us for our 7 day Western itinerary. We arrived in Tampa around 11:30 and parked the car in one of many parking lots along the main road across from the pier. Pricing varies at these lots so do some research and check out Groupon to see if any are offering specials. We find the parking in Tampa to be cheaper than Port Canaveral. Our 1 week spot cost around $65.00 including the tip back and forth to the pier to the driver. We were dropped off at the entrance to the terminal checked our bags with the porter and rode up the escalator to start our check in process. What a pleasant surprise that literally their was zero wait we were through all the check points including the first photo opportunity and on the ship in about 15 minutes. The ramps and halls leading to the ship are not as long as other ports which is nice for those with luggage. We entered the legend right into the elevator bank and their were staff directing you to deck 9 for lunch. Our first meal was of course a Guys burger and fry's we did check out the offerings at the buffet and it appeared to have a good variety that would appeal to most. For those that have never tried a Guys burger its comparable to Five Guys or BurgerFi although I would say the Fries are better at Guys not to mention a large toppings bar that has enough topping choices to make your burger huge. This burger is on point and will not disappoint if you are a burger lover. Ship Layout: The ship is a mid size ship which we love as its less walking for us and easier to get around. The ship decor is renaissance and the coloring is muted. Each elevator bank has black with gold designs which was pretty but made the ship feel dark. The elevators have paintings that show male/females in little bits of clothing covering the areas that need to be covered however I would be prepared to explain to the little ones as at first my 10 year old granddaughters first reaction was to cover her eyes. The same holds true for the statues placed around the ship. The main lobby is small and surprising the shopping area was quite large for this size ship. Most shopping was on deck 2. The lido deck was divided into sections with sliding doors and had 2 pools and 2 giant hot tubs. The ship itself was in great shape considering its age and someone was always cleaning. Cabins: We had 2 inside rooms on deck 1 the rooms were of normal size with plenty of closet and storage space for 2 people. Our rooms were kept spotless by our room steward and he always remembered our names when we would cross paths throughout the week. I at first was concerned about being on Deck 1 but it was actually less rocky than it was mid ship/mid deck which is usually the sweet spot. No noise from deck 2 could be heard even though deck 2 is public areas. Food: This is our perspective on food and none of us are very adventurous so keep that in mind. Overall we found the Lido buffet to be excellent with good variety and was always hot the buffet set up kept lines and bottle jams to a minimum. Pizza was being made to order and was always piping hot and most mornings the omelette station had only a line of 1 or 2. tables were kept clean and plates removed as needed. We ate in the steak house 2 x and both times had delicious meals. Hubby tried the Wagwu beef and he did not care for it but that was his taste. We had anytime dining and found that it appeared that the wait staff had been reduced as their was times where we waiting a long time for something to appear and then everything would come at once. The dining room staff were working probably at their peak speeds but I think they were covering more tables with less teams. We had very pleasant servers but they also were working very hard. The main meals were so-so often served warm not hot. Dining room deserts had its ups and downs some lacked flavor even though they looked good in appearance. Ice cream is always a safe bet! Sea Day brunch was offered on both Sea Days. One critique which is small is that anchovy is blended into the caesar dressing so at times it has a "fishy" taste to it. Entertainment: Frankie is the cruise director on the Legend and he brought it on. He is full of energy and has a voice that is clear and consise. His announcements were not intrusive and he leads an entertainment team that has energy and really looked like they were having fun doing their job. The activities were the usual ship offerings of trivia, crafts, talks, shop specials, and music offerings. The main shows were Motor City, Studia VIP and Epic Rock. This group of Playlist singers and dancers were one of the best we have seen, they were in tune and all participated in solo's the lead male/females were both excellent. Clue and Hasbro Game show as well as Lip Sync Battle and Love & Marriage, Bingo and the Quest rounded out the main offerings. Music from most of the main bars were offered depending on your taste as well as electric violins in the lobby each night ( my favorite). Deck party's were the Mega Deck Party, 80s Rock & Glow as well as the traditional Sail Away. Punchliner Comedy Club was always packed for both PG and 18+ shows. The comedians were on point and had a good mix of topics that were relevant. Most were able too switch it up based on the crowd. The comedy club is located down on the 1st deck its a fairly large venue and some of the seats do not give you clear view of the comedian so I would plan on arriving a minimum of 30 minutes to ensure you get yourself a good seat. Ports of Call: our first stop was Grand Caymen, this is a tender port that went extremely smooth. We did 7 mile beach on our own by walking a few blocks up from the port and taking a city bus to Calico Jacks. This is a public beach however if you want a chair and umbrella the price was $20.00. They also had jet ski and snorkel equipment rentals right on the beach. The beach was clean and had soft sand with smooth entry to the water . Bus ride was $2.50 each way PP. Second stop was Isla Roatan, we port at Mahogany Bay which is a Carnival Corp built pier what we love here is their is a beach right here at the pier that is free!. The beach offers everything you can get at a private island beach to rent. We opted to get 2 loungers and a clam shell for shade closer to the water at a cost of $26.00 for the day. Free chairs are available but a bit farther from the water and no shade. You can either walk to this beach or you can take a Magical Flying Chair ride over which is picturesque and calming. Bar and Food service was available from the beach at costs. A great beach day and plenty of stores to shop in before returning to the ship. Belize: This is a tender port that also went extremely smooth however it is a longer ride back and forth ( about 15-20 minutes). We walked around the port and had some beverages at 1 of the pier restaurants. The port has some cute picture spots so be sure to check out the entire pier. Cozumel: We love this port and always try something new. This time we decided to try out an all day resort for a day pass at the El Cid. This resort is walkable from the port! They offer 2 choices an all inclusive with drinks and buffet for $65.00 or for $23.00 not including food and beverage but they give you back a credit of $13.00 PP to use towards drink and food. This resort was super clean and had a nice size swimming pool and 2 sandy areas the sand area to the far left had a "beach" entry to the water although it was a rocky entry and had a shallow pool with some hammocks in the water that were interesting. Those that snorkeled here said they did see many fish. We had a great time at El Cid and would recommend it especially for the price. Casino: We both love the casino and although it was a bit small it was never over crowded and you could find something to play. They held 2 events during the week one was a Fireball raffle and then a hot seat promo as well as a slot and blackjack tournament. The staff was friendly and the bar staff was easy to get drinks from. For those that don't smoke you may find it to be smoky and unfortunately you had to walk through to get around the ship their was no way to avoid unless you went down or up and over Overall we had a great time on the Legend and would definitely not hesitate to choose her again. PS: For those that want to know the Diamond/Platinum gift were luggage tags and the party invitation did say plus guest. Read Less

The last dinner (Valentine’s Day) with my family was almost ruined by our waiter... He forgot a lot of items ordered and got most of the Entrées completely wrong. He was too busy talking to the table full of ladies instead of giving his full attention to our table. But other than that everyone (expect for the last waiter) on the ship was great. Rooms were clean, Hallways were clean, and Restrooms in the main lobby areas were clean. The Cruise Director TJ was awesome!!! His personality is incredible. If TJ’s name is on the Cruise Ship Details while planning our next Cruise Vacation, it will make it way much to say YES!!! and book it! My wife and I enjoyed his Lip Sync Battle performance. I was hilarious! We booked 2 Excursions through Carnival and 2 Massages. The Excursions were great! 1 of the 2 Massages was great. I will never book a Swedish Massage again. Debarking was a bit of a hassle which made us late to pick up our four-legged child from where we had him boarded. But I will be booking another cruise soon! Read Less

My wife and I had been on this ship in September and it was one of our best cruises. We booked a balcony cabin on deck 10. Some are concerned about the noise from the LIdo deck when you book in this location, but we didn't find it to be a problem on this cruise or the last (on the same deck). Last cruise on the Valor in September, we never made it to the main dining room, but we made a point of going this time and we were very satisfied. The food was great and the service on the spot. We did get a free steak house selection as a thank you and we opted for the surf and turf (we actually paid for this through my wife's "donations" in the casino). The buffet was standard Carnival, nothing to write home about, but good. The fried chicken was the only negative but far outweighed by the Bar-B-Que. Our overall experience was excellent the first cruise on this vessel and got even better this time.. We specifically boarded this ship hoping the musical entertainment still included the band "Deep Blue Soul", and we were not disappointed. Lucca and Kiara, along with the band, remains the best entertainment I have ever seen on a Carnival ship. Not only did the band entertain every night in the Red Frog Pub, but they provided the musical support for the show in the big theater as well. Unfortunately, they are leaving the ship at the end of February and going their separate ways. Once again, this band made our trip what it was. The ship has some age, so if you are looking for defects, you will find them, but overall, the ship is clean throughout. The staff met our expectations. Courteous and responsive to our needs. Smiles seem to be the norm and somehow they remember our names. We had several members of the crew, admittedly bar staff and band members, who remembered us from the last cruise. We hope that was a good thing. We did not participate in shore excursions past shopping on our own. The ship is the destination for us any time we cruise. Read Less

Friends asked us to go with them on their first cruise. We went along to be with our friends or we probable would not have gone. We had no complaints about the food or house keeping they were great. The ship is worn out. Our closet door would not shut, the refrigerator was old not dirty but dingy. The couch was uncomfortable The ship is so small by current standards it looked like a pygmy in the port at Cozumel along side the other ships. During most of our trip the gulf was very rough and with this small of ship was bobbing around day and night. We were awakened at night by the deck chair on our balcony sliding up to the widow and banging it to it every time a wave hit. The ship was rocking so bad the toilet lid was banging also. They had to drain the pool because the water was going everywhere. Everyone the crew included was seasick the trip home from Cozumel. Read Less

We traveled as a couple, and can say from beginning to end this was an enjoyable cruise! I have been on more than 15 cruises and read not so good reviews on this ship, but I have to say this was this cruise was just like any of the "highly rated" ships that I have been on. Embarkation was so easy, we parked our car directly across the street from the ship and walked on within minutes. Our cabin was a balcony 8332 and it was a perfect location, and not above or below any common area. The cabin Steward was the best, EDZEL was respectful and always serviced our cabin at the perfect time, he was courteous, and had a great attitude, plenty of storage and a refrigerator. The food on this ship was very good, service in the dining room (Atlantic early seating) was at times slow, but we weren't in a rush. we once needed any time dining because our excursion got back too late for our regular seating and they accommodated us with a smile. Every meal we had was very good. I can't speak too much on the activities since we didn't participate that much, we watch a show and a comedian and they were both okay. Service all over the ship was very good, except for the excursion desk it was indifferent. We went to Key West and Cozumel and we loved Key West, just strolling the streets, shopping and having a few drinks at different bars. I do wish we had more time, we got off the ship at 8 am and nothing was really opened until 10 and we had to be back on the ship at 1. Cozumel, we did a last minute beach and shopping excursion through carnival. the hosts of this tour were fantastic Angel and Anna they were informative and fun. I would have preferred more beach time, but I knew what I signed up for. The day at sea was fun with plenty of activities, although we chose the serenity area and walked over to the main pool to watch what was going on at times. two flaws i saw on this ship was the serenity area was above a child play area (although never too loud, this is odd) and the Sushi bar was in the Casino which was very smokey so I would never purchase Sushi because of the smoke, this should definitely be moved to a new location. We ate at the buffet once for breakfast and the omelet station was great. The pizza was good and we loved the Mexican station at the pool where they do made to order tacos, burritos and salads. they had beautiful cakes out at lunch with an attendant slicing, which we liked so not everyone was touching everything. We would have liked this station opened after dinner because the cakes were that GOOD. Is the ship on the older side without the bells and whistles of the newer ship, did some of the booths have material that was faded or ripped a bit, yes, but again, we new what we were booking and the most important thing to us was GOOD service, GOOD food and a GOOD cabin and we had all of that on this ship! Loud music everywhere even during dinner in the buffet. It wasn’t a quiet atmosphere for 2 people on their honeymoon. Food was horrible the only place that had good food was the burger joint. Fruit looked amazing but too hard wasn’t dress, Shows were repetitive and when you arrived at a show more than 40 minutes before it started they kicked you out and you had to stand outside the door for 40 minutes. Won a picture package at their Deal or no Deal was told it included all the pictures your photographer took. When they realized how many people won they said you picture package was an 8x10 pic of the cruise ship and a portfolio to put it in. On the morning we left the boat we were kicked out of our room at 8am and had to sit on the dirty steps for two and a half hours before we were allowed to leave. And that process of getting from the boat through customs and back to our truck was another hour or more. We will never take another cruise and sad we planned our honeymoon that way. Read Less

This was a family cruise with ages from 18 to 83. We booked the Jamaica and Grand Cayman as it was originally planned for grandsons graduation present. To start with, we booked this cruise over a year ago, and without notice our itinerary was changed from Jamaica to Cuba. Well we did not want to go to Cuba so we had to change our dates from January to Feb, which was the first disappointment, as there were two birthdays to be celebrated in January. We had 5 cabins, two inside, two balcony and 1 ocean suite. Everyone was happy with the redecoration of the cabins. The only complaint was about the balconies. There are really small and hard to even sit on at times. Even our ocean suite balcony was small and they had a huge lounge chair on it, so we could barely walk around on it. A lounger, two chairs and a table. In the suite the TV was on the side wall and was not able to be swung out so that if you wanted to watch it while in bed , it was almost impossible. TV selections were at a minimum. Only one news channel and it was CBSN, crap. Could not turn off the closed caption, it was on all the time and covered the middle of the screen. The sound was unpredictable, it would be so loud at times and then not loud enough to even hear when you stood in front of it. The closet doors kept banging back and forth, as the ocean was a little rough on this trip. They have updated the rooms with plenty of usb ports, so it was easy to keep phones charged. Our cabin steward was great, kept room clean and always kept our ice bucket full. Loved her. The chat app, was useful for all of us to keep in touch and find each other. The paid for internet was sparse in places and you would think if you paid for internet the chat app would be free,, but it was another $5. Food int he buffet was not good. Breakfast scrambled eggs were terrible. Bacon was good. There was always a long line and it closed at odd times. The deli and Guys burgers were great. Although the last day or so the fries were so spicy they were difficult to eat. The dining room service was good, food was mostly good. Elegant night surf and turf was offered for a $20 upcharge. I ordered it, very small but delicious filet and 1/2 of an undersized lobster tail. I couldn't believe it was a half instead of a whole tail. I will say the food was very good in dining room except for the 1/2 tail. I ordered a bloody mary for breakfast one morning in the DR, it came without a straw. I understand the big deal about saving the environment, and I do recycle everything possible, but I asked for a straw and was told no, I could not have one. I made reservations at the Italian restaurant for a special occasion dinner for 10 people, plus a baby that needed a highchair. The table they put us at was unacceptable as the high chair was sitting in the middle of the aisle when I asked to be moved to another table, that was in the back of the restaurant, the hostess said no. With no explanation as to why not. After I went back to her and explained that I was a travel agent and that I was not happy with the amount of no's I was receiving on this cruise every time I asked for something and that I would be writing a review when I got home. She told me to go to the other table and she was rude, but at least we got to move to the other table and enjoyed the great food. The appetizers were served family style and I think we got some of every one they had. The entrees were very good. It was worth the $155 that it costs. The wine list could have been better, but the wine we ordered was good. If you have priority boarding or disembarkation be aware they have changed the rules and only the ones in the suite or in your cabin are allowed to use it. No one else in your party is allowed. We had a 18 year old in our group. There were really no activities for him. We knew he could not drink, but the basketball court closed at like 5pm. The pool table was unusable as the ship was rocking so much the balls kept rolling all over the place. The small pools were always crowded and could never find a seat anyway. There were no nightclubs for planned activities for him. It was a little disappointing as Carnival boasts it has so many things for kids, but only if you are 17 and under. I felt the cruise staff was very pushy always trying to get you to buy a drink, jewelry, art or spa. The ship was very crowded and everything included a line and long wait. Would I cruise on this ship again. Probably not. As a travel agent it is hard to suggest this type of cruise unless you know for sure the person knows what it is really like. Read Less

We were told the ocean view cabin were big enough for 3 adults. What they did not tell us is you get 2 twin size beds and 1 sofa bed that is as hard as the floor and does not open to a full length twin bed. I am only 5.3 and I was not able to lay straight for 5 nights. This is my 10th carnival cruise. The 3rd bed has always been a pullout or a bunk bed. When I went to guest services she said the room measurements are listed in the cabin descriptions. Maybe they are, but know one expect an 3/4 size of a twin bed as a third bed. They did come and add extra padding to the mini bed. I just feel they should make it very clear the 3rd bed is for children or a person under 5 feet tall. Had I known I would have gotten a private room or not taken the trip. I have back issues already. My roommate are both tall and barely able to keep their feet on the twin beds will never take this cruise ship again. I loved all my other cruise with carnival, it was just this ship. Small cabins, only 1 dance club, bad internet throughout the ship. Read Less

My first cruise! Everything went well except for an excursion ( Isla Rotan) that was not clearly explained. I thought that snorkeling would be supervised and found out the hard way that it was not. Nor was it explained in the description. I learned so much that I can rely on my travel clients. The entire staff was so nice and accommodating. it was my girlfriends' first cruise as well. We really enjoyed the experience and plan to go again.l plan to recommend this cruise to my travel clients as well. The food did not disappoint even though there were not any vegan/vegetarian choices. I will just have to cleanse when I return home. Any maintenance problems were addressed immediately. It was the perfect size ship for a first cruise, at least for me, Ports were very nice and kept up well. Approximately 1200 passengers, so it was not congested. I will go on another cruise with Carnival. Our room was just off the elevator, so we could hear all the noise. I would opt for a room away from the elevator on my next trip. embarkation and disembarkation went well and was smooth. to sum it up, read and ask questions about your excursions and what you are allowed to bring on the ship. When we arrived to the port we were informed that priority boarding is only for the first passengers to board the ship and that it had ended at 10am. When we purchased priority boarding we were not informed of a time stipulation. The embarkation process was slow but smooth. When we boarded the ship there was a stench in the hallway and in our room. We booked a junior suite, the booking agent told us that the balcony was larger, the balcony was standard size. The walk-in closet was very nice and we enjoyed the additional space that the junior suite allotted. Our cabin steward was amazing and attentive, he left us extra bottles of water because we were return cruisers and a little box of cookies for being suite guests. There was a jetted tub in the bathroom which was nice, but the jets didn't function properly. On day 3 of 6 we started have an issue with flooding in our room. For 2 days we had soaking wet carpet. The first 2 guest service representatives that we spoke with were dismissive and rude. They implied that the flooding issue was something we had done. We found out from our neighbor that they had been dealing with flooding issues since day 2 of the cruise, apparently some pipe in the wall had a leak and the 3 rooms on the hall with us were all dealing with flooding issues. The dining room service was slow, our service attributed it to the larger ship and more passengers. We paid for specialty dining at Bonsai Teppanyaki and 555 steak house. Bonsai was entertaining and tasty, the Steak restaurant was average at best. We enjoyed the comedy shows and movies, both on deck and in the imax theater. Because of the maintenance issues that were not properly addressed and dismissive and rude guest service interactions we will not be taking anymore Carnival cruises. Read Less

This was our 7th carnival cruise. Embarksion PRO: was smooth and quick. Headed up to the lido deck for lunch at Guys Burger until 1:30 when we had access to our cabin. CON: employees scanning were rude to folks not going quick enough and barking orders. Cabin PRO: typical layout of previous trips and room size with balcony. Liked the ability to control the thermostat! Beach towel were in room for excursion. Daily newsletter each day. CON: No conditioner in shower.....just shampoo and body wash.ended up spending $10 for conditioner from the shops. Steward asked if we preferred morning or evening room turndown/ cleanup. This surprised us as it was always both in the past. We requested both which was then granted. Watch the blue beach towel -we had to ask where they went as she removed from the room and didn’t return until we asked for them back (note: you will be charged for missing towels). APP PRO: loved the APP to see what’s going on tru out the ship. Able to make dinner reservations at specialty restaurants as well as “ your time dining in main restaurant” via app. Ability to purchase photos. Book shore excursions. This is a must to download! So easy to use. CON: times were off on a few events. Not able to see spa services or book a spa service thru the app. This would be a nice to have for cruisers. FOOD PRO: was okay...above average of a typical restaurant but not up to past cruises experience. Guys burger and fries GREAT. Deli food was pretty good. CON: Minimal fresh cut fruit. Missing the desert table of cakes, pies, cookies. Etc. They did have 5 types of cakes daily in the buffet area. Just not the past experience. Didn’t have the midnight buffet as past cruises had. Wasn’t excited at all about the lunch buffet selection of food. GAMES PRO: mini golf, pool, basketball, indoor clubhouse with kickball pool, ping pong and bean bag toss. Water park slides. DANCERS PRO: The shows were unique compared to past cruises. I’d say this was our top shows. They were great with kids and did a little wave to my 5yr old daugter who absolutely loved them. Took ohotos and had small props for the 20s show before the show started. MAIN THEATER: CON: Hate the name Liquid Lounge. Need something a bit more classy. Didn’t like the layout at all. With kids you must get there when doors open or they won’t be able to see. It’s tough for adults to see as it is. Order a drink and you end up holding it thru out the show as well. PRO: Dancers use not just the stage but main floor to try and have more audience see the show. ENTERTAINMENT PRO: variety of events. The lip sync event started on the lido deck and then last main show winner was selected. Loved that the ocean club kids got to participate in last main show. Learned how to salsa the downfall was all dance events had minimum space and felt to crowded. Had an 80s evening dance at 10:30 but would be more fun knowing this before going on the cruise so one could have a costume to make it more fun. Seaside movies as well as music always had something going on the lido deck. CON: a lot of people but not necarrily enough space for some events. LAYOUT - CON: It’s s bit all over. Took us until day 5 to find the theater which costs additional fees. Photos was day 3 to locate. The stores could have better options as other carnival shops have. Liquid lounge layout is horrible. This cruise ship has a modern feel and not the elegant feeling as other carnival ships. SHORE EXCURSION PRO: Do your research ahead of time, if there is a shore excursion that had 5 and unde are free go ahead and order tickets for everyone but them, they actually don’t need a ticket. Our cosmuzel excursion got cancelled due to winds and we were refunded. Pixel photos CON very expensive. First photo is $19.99 then additional are $5/ea. There were photos I’d love to get a 4x7 of an event but no way am I paying that much. I did spend $100 in photos. Dining Was disappointed at first not having either an early or late set time/table. However, I ended up loving the on your time dining. No rush and we still saw the waiters show, table location wasn’t to bad and getting a table was always within 5 mi utes. Only thing I miss is the personal touch of having the same waiters each day. I’m now a fan of dining when I want to! Read Less

The ship is nice and the staff very friendly and helpful. Loved the sky ride. There was a worker named Milos who made our cruise more enjoyable. The rooms are nice as well. However the food on the buffet was mediocre. The breakfast was better than the dinner. I was totally disappointed with the desserts. Thought I was getting cake but instead the texture was a mixture between jello and pudding and tasteless. We still don’t know what that was. I noticed there was a lot of cheesecake which is fine if you happen to like cheesecake which my husband and I don’t. This is our six cruise and we would like to see an improvement in the food. Why can’t there be normal desserts like the classic cake or pies? Would like to see a separate bar set up for serving cokes because when you pay to be able to have them, you have to go to the bar which takes forever because they are busy mixing alcoholic drinks and seemed to be more concerned with making them than messing with the cokes. Itjust seems like a hassle to just get a coke. If you want pictures taken they have plenty of photographers taking them and they look nice. But you have to have a big pocket book to be able to purchase them. They charged $20 for just one picture that you can download on your phone or you can buy packages but be prepared to pay a lot of money. They would probably make more money if they made the pictures more affordable so that people would buy more. Had fun on the excursions except for the Bamboo Beach in Jamaica. It was a 45 minute ride to and from. No place to get out of rain so we got soaked before even getting to swim. Beach was not as nice as I thought it would be. By the time you got back, there was no time for shopping. Would not recommend this excursion. Grand Cayman and Cozumel was very nice. 7 Mile Beach was beautiful. Swam with the dolphins in Cozumel and loved it. Would highly recommend this excursion. Read Less

Horizon was a lovely cruise ship overall PROBABLY my favorite so far as far as the carnival family.... We always choose Carnival bc we do family trips and CARNIVAL BRINGS THE FUN‼️ and Guys burgers... Hands down the BEST and on horizon Guys Barbecue Joint OMG good... Loved the new ship overall.. my only draw back would probably be I absolutely love the family dinning experience and on this cruise they were really slow and also love, love, love Latino music/atmosphere... We went to the Havana Bar and was never greeted or attended to at all. They clearly seen us, looked at us and we in fact had to walk over to the bar and order when we were at a table.. Overall we love Carnival. Our only disappointment was the Havana Bar bc we were treated like we wasn't there and dining was slower than usual but absolutely beautiful ship.. Read Less

My wife and I decided to finally go on one of Carnival's newest ships and we loved it. We never felt like we were with 4,000 other cruisers. The layout of the ship makes it very accessible and easy to get around. Previously, we had been on four of the older ships with half as many passengers. We loved the 'Smart' elevators, just wish everyone would make an effort to use them properly but we never noticed any serious problems. Our interior cabin cabin was perfect, it even seemed larger than previous interior's on older Carnival ships. The location was perfect as you could reach the forward elevators or the mid elevators within a few steps. We loved the Hubb App as we had Anytime dining and used it every single night to request our dining reservation. We never had to wait more than five minutes to get a table. We would normally request it while we were finishing a show and by the time we walked over our table was already assigned. The Food in the Meridien Dining Room was very good with excellent service. Breakfast on the Lido Marketplace was very good as well. The made to order omelets were delicious but always busy. Definitely worth the wait. Mike P was our CD and this was going to be his last 6 day Horizon cruise as he was promoted to a Carnival Corporate job. Let me tell you there was NO short timers disease with him. He was 100+% the entire trip. Definitely a well deserved promotion! Overall we loved our FANTASTIC Horizon cruise. Read Less

I booked this cruise as it was going to be in Grand Cayman on my wife's birthday (we love Grand Cayman's 7 mile beach). Overall...the ship is older but very well maintained...it is also smaller than most of the other ships we have cruised on. Luckily...the weather was great and the gulf was not rough...so it was pretty much smooth sailing. Our room was what we expected...nothing fancy but comfortable...loved the big TV...just wished there were more channels to choose from. We tried to stay away from the buffet but it looked edible. We pretty much ate in Elations Dining room...the food was good but nothing notable. The service was excellent and our servers were attentive. Our room steward...Lauro...was great...the room was always clean and we always had ice in the ice bucket. We don't drink so didn't have any comments on the bartenders service. The one pool was always crowded and loud so we hung on the Serenity deck. Only had a couple of shows and they were both good...especially Epic Rock. This will probably be our last cruise with Carnival as we enjoyed MSC a lot better. Read Less

There were 6 friends on this cruise and we chose it for 1 reason only. The piano bar with Gustavo. We've cruised 2 other times where we had the fun of seeing Gustavo. But this was the first time on Carnival. I was leery, it's an old ship and I was afraid it hadn't aged well. I was very pleasantly surprised. Embarkation was the easiest I've ever been through. I think it's because you don't get your cabin key until later when you cabin is ready. This made getting through the port terminal so quick. While old and a little dated the ship was spotless. Our cabins were aft balconies. The cabin was small but adequate. Bigger bathroom than on some other cruise lines. Our steward, Lary, was great. He asked us what time we wanted him to clean and it was spotless every day The food was very good, especially the dinner. We chose anytime and ate around 6 most nights. We requested Devy's table and she was really great. The casino is smoky. It has all the usual tables and slots. We didn't go to any of the shows. We listened to the great band in the bar near the casino and of course later the piano bar. We also attended both art auctions and a lot of new art was purchased! The crew is amazingly friendly and they all really went out of their way to make sure you are happy. Great bartenders. Don't be afraid to try an older Carnival ship. Read Less

I first want to say I have never written a negative review in my life. But we work very hard to save for our vacations and I know others do too. I simply want to let people know that the Vista is not the average cruise. It is what I would consider a bottom of the barrel cruise. We chose Vista excited to see the new Havana area. When we booked we were told it was open after 7 p.m. When we arrived they told us they no longer allowed it. No one contacted us to inform of the change. If they had we would have switched ships. It appears that what Carnival has done with this ship is to eliminate space and amenities for regular travelers and expand areas for folks able and willing to pay higher prices for the amenities that every traveler used to enjoy. Havana suites and Family Harbor rooms. Many of our favorite spots you find on cruises are missing on the Vista. It is impossible to escape the crowds as the public areas are a fraction of the size as other smaller ships. No adult only pool, it has been replaced with Havana pool. Only 4 hot tubs on entire giant ship. With the exception of the closed Havana tubs. Serenity area is super tiny, has little shade, and is very inconvenient. They have chopped the Your Time dining room into smaller spaces yet continue the floor dances which half of the rooms could not participate in. The long walking area normally below the lifeboats does not exist on this ship. The ship has absolutely no style other than what could be described as cheap and tacky. LED displays have replaced almost everything that normally gives each ship interest and character. It gives the ship a very Wal- Mart feel. No atrium elevators. Colored glass and wooden accents are replaced with simple sheets of painted white steel. The shopping area was the smallest and most predictable I have ever experienced. All this being said I must point out that the crew was absolutely outstanding. Every worker was friendly and competent. Also we were not traveling with children so I can't speak to how this ship may work for families. I hate being negative but I hope that everyone researching ships finds the right one for them. I have taken 6 Carnival cruises since 2011. My wife is a platinum member so our embarkation and debarkation were fast and nice. Our room was average, the room stewards were friendly. We found an unopened yogurt in our fridge. Our neighbors found dirty underwear in their cabin. The buffets never seemed to be open and the free restaurants always had a long lines. The carnival app never worked right. You need this to schedule ship activities including dinner reservations. The dining room always seemed to be a 2 hour experience. BTW you have to make reservations, no more anytime dining. And if the app was down "which was most of the time" you had to go to deck 5, stand in a long line and make reservations, then go back down to deck 3, stand in another long line to eat in the dining room. The service in the dining room lacked greatly. Very slow service and substandard food most nights. Forget about ordering any side sauces or anther drink, you will never get it. Many times the waiter would tell me " oh sorry, all my help is downstairs". This means NO you can not have that. The buffets were also lacking. Long lines and Cold food. The meats had a chemical taste. The Guys Pig and anchor BBQ was great. I had it twice. The Bonsai Sushi restaurant was good but, you had to pay for it. The taco, burrito and burger spots always had long lines. The room service was nonexistent and laughable at best! The menu was MOSTLY paid items. We tried to order twice and none would ever even pick up the phone. Why not just not have any room service? The mixed drinks on the ship tasted very good and most were moderately priced. We were totally surprised to find out Carnival quit carying Coca Cola and Red Bull in lieu of Pepsi and Monster. WHY???? Because it's cheaper!! The shows were laughable and unwatchable. First we sat thru a show call Flick. Honestly I would rather sit thru a Tony Robbins lecture on insurance policies for time shares. I sat thru the "Rock" show painfully. The bingo, photos, food, and other shopping in the shops were expensive. The movie theater is not a real movie theater. Very limited showing of substandard movies and Yes, you have to pay extra for it. The photos that Carnival's employees take of you as you wander around the ship cost as well. And they are NOT cheap! The digital download of each photo is $15. This is EACH. The Carnival cruises we have taken in the past were for the most part ALL-INCLUSIVE. They are not anymore. You have to pay for everything! Everything is an extra upcharge. We paid for 3 internet packages at $300. "that were either very slow or not working" and we still had to pay an extra $5. each to be able to text each other. The dining room menu had a lot of items you have to pay "extra" for. We tried to schedual a behind the scene tour of the ship, it was $95. per person. This is just wrong. So after this cruise we are probably done with Carnival. Sad we used to really enjoy it. Read Less

We cruise a lot of lines, including Carnival, but this cruise was definitely among our least favorites. The 3 star rating is in light of the fact that we enjoyed some of the entertainment and the ports. Also, the weather was wonderful, so it was a nice getaway. First, to us, the food and dining experience was definitely not up to the usual Carnival standard. Many of the dishes were quite bad (looking at you, Penne Mariscos). And the MDR service was the worst we've had on any ship. You had to ask for everything and that didn't mean you'd get it. The biggest struggle was getting coffee to go with the dessert course at dinner - I think due to the fact that you now order dessert with the rest of the meal so it's just another thing for them to bring out. However, one breakfast we had a very good waiter, who reminded us of the better Carnival service we've enjoyed on other ships. The food in the buffet was somewhat better, but as others have commented, there wasn't much variety and often long lines. The pizza was quite good, but I don't eat meat and they seemed to make mostly pepperoni. The one time I was able to get a cheese slice, it was really good. Also liked the sometimes-available gelato. The bar service was generally good and friendly - especially in the Ocean Plaza. We scored a great deal during happy hour in the Red Frog pub one port day afternoon - a pitcher of mixed drink (forget which one) for just over $11 including gratuity. We drank it in one of the nice outdoor seating areas on Deck 5 - one of the ship innovations that we liked. We really liked the Ocean Plaza as an entertainment venue, and especially enjoyed the bands Studio 6 and the Ambrassadors (who also performed in the Rock production show). This is where they also did trivia, dance lessons, etc., and you could also get surprisingly good breakfasts and lunches there. It was also around the corner from the coffee bar. We also tried the light lunch at the Serenity, but it turned out to be just salad (although with lots of fresh ingredients), and it was hard to get a place to sit. The Serenity on this ship seemed small and crowded. Our inside cabin was fine, and our room steward did a good job. As people have mentioned, the elevators were a pain. Too few and too slow. We have another Carnival cruise booked and expect to add more - just won't be the Vista. Read Less

My wife and I cruised with Carnival out of Miami several years ago and had a pretty good experience. We've also cruised before with NCL and Royal. There were several reasons why we were very disappointed with this latest Carnival Cruise. Thus, we don't expect to cruise with Carnival again. (1) Too much of a loud/drinking/party atmosphere. Except in the atrium, music throughout the ship was obnoxiously loud, and we disliked hearing very loud songs played in the dining room each evening at dinner as part of "showtime." (2) The service in the buffet and dining room was poor compared to all other cruises we've been on. For example, tables and dirty plates were not promptly cleared (both in the buffet and dining room); we often had to ask for water when having dinner in the dining room; wait staff in the dining room not good about checking in with you about your meal (they would typically ask how your meal was AFTER you're all finished eating). (3) The lunch buffet was a big disappointment. Far fewer selections were offered compared to other cruise lines. Moreover, Pizza Pirate was a big disappointment. The guy making pizza did not understand English and didn't seem to know how to cook pizzas. Every time we ordered a pizza it came out opposite of what we requested. (4) My wife eats mostly vegan, and overall the staff did a poor job accommodating her diet. A number of mistakes were made. Other cruise lines have done a much better job preparing vegan options. (5) At disembarkation we waited in line for 75 minutes before getting through customs; others had even longer delays. We've never had such a long delay on any of our prior cruises. Read Less
