Need more hot tubs or keep them open past midnight. We could never get in until really late because they were always full. We enjoyed the IMAX theater but it was expensive at $12.95. We expected to pay a lot less. Our steward was great and every time we had an issue with the room; he got right on it and was fixed within 10 minutes or so. I do wish that snack like cookies/cakes/fruit would be available throughout the day. There were several times when I wanted a later afternoon snack at 3pm but everything was put away and didn't open back up until 6 in the buffet area. We had late dining at 8pm. Our dining room staff were very nice and attentive with our group of 10. I do not recommend the salon as my daughter paid over $60 twice to have hair done and a 5 year old could have done a better job. The Sky Track ride was really fun but plan to wait in line for at least 45 minutes. It seems that Carnival is moving more and more towards for activities/food that cost extra. I did enjoy the new Photo shop with the digital pictures and it was very easy using the app to purchase the ones I wanted. This review may sound a little negative but we did enjoy the cruise and will schedule again with them. Read Less

We were initially excited to try out this new ship. Overall, we had a great time with our family. This is cruise #3 for us and all 3 cruises have been with Carnival. We have been on the Imagination and Glory prior to this cruise. Our cruise on the Glory was far better than this cruise. =============================================================== The Good: Dining experience was exceptional as always. Our servers were friendly and worked hard to get us what we needed. The first night was a little rough, but the remainder of the week went smooth. The food was decent with the exception of a few items. Guy's Pig and Anchor - Here you can get a variety of BBQ meats along with macaroni salad and potato salad. We ate here 3 time during the cruise. The chicken was exceptional and my favorite. The brisket was OK, but was not tender. I felt they rushed the brisket and didn't allow the connective tissues to reach the proper temp to become tender. I definitely recommend you try the food here. Guy's Burgers - I enjoy the burgers here as long as they are not sitting on the bun to long before you get one. Otherwise the bun will be soggy. Blue Iguana Cantina - Everything here is great. Build your own tacos and burritos. I just wish they were open more hours during the day. Rooms were clean and everything was functional. Plenty of room for clothes in closets. Housekeeping personnel were all very friendly and took care of our needs. I still had to ask for an extension cord for my CPAP machine. I thought since the ship was fairly new that the rooms could accommodate a CPAP without the need of an extension cord stretched across the room, but that was not the case. Overall, our rooms were great. Entertainment - Plenty to do and see. We didn't get to try everything during our one week cruise. Staff – Most of the staff were very nice and helpful. Especially in our room and dining areas. No complaints on hospitality here. Excursions - All of our excursions were well organized once on shore. I cannot rate some of them here since they were not a Carnival Excursion. Definitely recommend the Stingray swim at Cayman Islands. =============================================================== The Bad: Embarkation - Embarkation was very unorganized. The line of cruisers getting on was so long it was mingling with the cruisers getting off the ship. Separation of the two groups would help. Then our group was separated into different zones even after we asked to stay together. So our family was split into tow separate waiting areas while we all waited about 45 minutes before getting on the ship. All the elevators were in "X" mode being used by crew to move luggage so we had to use stairs with our carry on. Not too bad for me, but some in my group have physical impairments that make stairs difficult for them. Buffet - We avoided the Marketplace buffet due to the long lines. Several of our family members waited close to 30 minutes in line only to have the buffet close on them while in line. My wife and I used the buffet one night since we skipped our early dining due to the long excursion day and had to wait in line for over 30 minutes just to get our meal. Ridiculous. Elevators - Getting on an elevator was always an issue. We would have 5 to 10 minutes to get on. I believe this was due to the increased number of people on board. There were about the same number of elevators on Vista as Glory but 30% more passengers. We weren't the only cruisers who noticed this issue. It was a common discussion while waiting to get on one. Our room was on deck 2, so taking the stairs up to Lido Deck 10 was a bit of a trek. We actually got off the elevator when a disabled cruiser in a wheelchair and his wife were trying to get on. They were very grateful. Comedy Shows - The Limelight Lounge was packed at every comedy show. In order to get in, we had to get in line about 30 to 45 minutes before the show start time. Otherwise we would not get a seat. We also had an issue with people cutting in line once the doors opened. They would walk around and look at the art on the walls and when the doors opened, push their way in. We actually had it out with the comedy director, Kate, as she insisted that cutting doesn't happen. Once more of the cruisers behind us chimed in, she changed her tune. The next night she was directing the cutters to go back to the other end of the line. Cooking Demonstration - This was done in the atrium out in the open versus in a separate room (like on the Glory). Cruisers at the bar and those passing through the area would grab samples and walk off. As a result, many of those in attendance didn’t even get to sample the food that was demonstrated. Port Days – Getting off and back on the boat took a while, much longer than the 2 previous cruises we did. Drinks – I am not much of a drinker, so I was surprised when I ordered drinks and got such a difference in alcohol strength. I ordered the same drink most of the time and they were all inconsistent. My wife switched to beer after she was disappointed in the mixed drinks. At least the alcohol content was consistent. =============================================================== Overall there is plenty to do on the ship if you like standing in lines for your vacation. They have many new restaurants but they cost more money if you want food there. We are probably going to try another cruise line after this experience. This is based on our latest experience as well as reading other reviews that state many of same issues we had. Read Less

We are gold on Carnival and with that we can say that the Vista was a fantastic ship. We were in a suite 7370. Excellent access to all events. We are stair people, only because we don't want to make that extra 5 lbs average increase on a cruise get the better of us. So elevators issues were not a problem. We took them getting on and getting off only, since we had bags. They were as to be expected, tight and you had to go down to go up (if you know what I mean), but everyone was friendly. The ship was clean and tight. The last approximately 2 1/2 years have been good to the Vista, that is a tribute to the crew and their tireless push to keep it looking ship-shape and Bristol fashion! Shows and clubs were well attended and fun. The IMAX is completely unhooked! It in my opinion is one of the best small theaters I have ever been in, small meaning 185 people small!. Behind the Fun tour is hard to get but very very worth the effort. Sign up as soon as you enter the ship at excisions or customer service! Seeing the I-95 is amazing, that is deck zero corridor that runs the length of the ship. Also the galley, laundry, back stage, oh and the brig...it is a great behind the scene tour! They do 2 every last sea days with 16 people per tour. So they fill up fast. Nice job Carnival in bringing a truly first class ship to Texas! Read Less

First, let me say this is my first time on a cruise that was longer than 4 hrs. I jumped onboard a trip that was rescheduled from Sept 2017 with a friend's family and friends who numbered about 23 folks so I expected good times. I loved my cabin 12216 and only wish I'd taken advantage of the thermal suite prior to my last day. I enjoyed the morning stretch, yoga which was hopped up pilates and boot campish, and an ab work out.. All of that was absolutely necessary because of the volume of food I consumed - I wasn't forced to .. let me mention that. The room size was adequate and it was nicely appointed in the Cloud 9 Spa theme. My date and I had Your Time Dining which was cool but I didn't like that were relegated to eat at the same restaurant each night or head to the market place. Speaking of the market place, the breakfast was great but dinner was 50/50 where some nights you had tasty meals and another night you had gray water logged hot dogs with brown sauerkraut. Comedy shows and dance club provided great entertainment. Lido was "popping" Great blockbuster movies shown on the cruise. Price of drinks and food outside of the package were reasonable. I liked Jiji aka Mongolian Wok and Pigs and Anchor BBQ and dining at Horizons didn't disappoint. On and off boarding at the ports were a bit of a pain unless you waited a bit but then you've used some of your time ashore. I didn't like that they didn't enforce the 40 minute lounge chair holds. My cabin was on deck 12 and when I came out at 6a to watch the sunrise, ppl already had a towel and other item on the cabanas on Serenity deck 15 to hold their space they didn't occupy until 2-3hrs later. A bit inconsiderate. trash cans were hard to find and a microwave or two would have been great.. perhaps near the ironing stations :-) Overall, I enjoyed myself. Read Less

we chose this cruise for the stops. out of the 16 of us that went 8 of us would not go on that boat again. the handle to the door on the balcony was very hard to operate. the service at most of the outdoor and casino bar was slow, it regularly took 20 minutes to get a drink when sitting at a machine or table. seemed like on sea days one of the buffets was always closed and the lines were long. red frog pub, and steakhouse were excellent. guys burger, the pizza place and asian were good. this is the first time i have not gone to the dinning room(not for any reason i just didn't go) room service was excellent as always. cruise director matt was the best I've encountered. i loved the fact that they now have a military and veteran appreciation day, they raffle off a cruise, they could do so much more like higher discounts for service people, and first responders. Embarkation: really no complaints, was able to register at miami airport and walked right on the ship. room wasn't ready, so we grabbed something to eat on the lido deck. Ship: there are simply just too many people on this ship. Everything we wanted to do there was a line for. We were fine with taking the stairs if elevators were always full. they cramped all these people on this ship (just for the money). i was so excited because this was a new ship. i paid more $$ because it was turkey day. I'm a season cruiser and truly was very disappointed. i would rather cruise on the older ships. this one everything was about the money. never got a chance to do the sky ride or water slides because of the crowds. I have never written a review but i was determined once i got home to do so. Cabin- nice balcony, tiny room with no chairs or couch. Bathroom on the same..they use to leave you a gift basket and robe to wear while cruising... No more...they use to clean your cabin twice a day...now it's once. no dressers but has two double closets. Dining: seem like all the "good food" you had to pay food. guy burger joint no seasoning. the buffet was better than the dining room. just to many people for the buffet. the bbq place close at 2:30 (was disappointed with that). main dining room was very disappointing. our waiter seemed to argue with us about our selection. only used linen on dress up days. was there celebrating my anniversary and several birthday...said they didn't know anything about it. Entertainment: so so... Ship decor - not impressed. i was looking for this havana feeling... Palm trees are fake. I did enjoy the over 21 hot tubs in the Serenity Lounge Excursions: carnival just charges to much for the excursions, so we took cabs. Itinerary: get up early and come back between 2-4. check your sail and sign accounts. We paid our gratuity before going on the cruise and it showed up over drafting my account. Bottom line no more new ships expensive and seems like carnival isn't into people pleasing no more. Btw they have 4 more ships coming out like this...child please... Read Less

I dont care for the mega ships of other lines ,however the familiarity of the carnival line makes each ship feel like home. The ports were great all except la , ramona, the island is definitely third world. We rented trikes on aruba and had a great time in grand turk and caracas. The was amazing we didn't get to explore it like we wanted to as we were with a handicapped friend. So we booked another cruise on vista for this may 2018.. The specialty dinning is great. I will write more after the next cruise but so far it was great.a suggestion to disabled and handicapped, rent a scooter .they are inexpensive and will make your time more enjoyable on the bigger ships.the ships crew was magnificent and very atantive. We selected this cruise back in early 2016 as it would fall over Halloween. We had just returned at that time from a Halloween cruise on the Breeze in 2015. And seeing as how this would be the first Halloween in the US for the Vista. We spent 3 days pre cruise in South Beach at The Colony, having stayed here prior before another cruise. We were not disappointed, staff was welcoming and friendly, room was ready on our early arrrival and we did not have to wait until 4 pm for a check in. First day explored, ate in the area of Lincoln Road Mall, took in a movie and called it an early night as we were on a plane at 540 that morning to make our way to Miami. Second and third day more touristy things, Duck Boat Tour, another movie, and Saturday Uber over to Aventura Mall to stay out of the rain and approaching Tropical Storm Philippe, which thankfully blew quickly over night. Being Platinum, and having to check out of the hotel by 11, we could go over to the port and check in. It was an easy Uber XL ride over tot th port, bags dropped, through security and check in and small wait and on the ship at 1150 am. We had a Havana Aft Extened View Balcony, nice room and location on deck 7, so glad we were able to sn@g this at the price we did before Carnival realized how popular these rooms would become and drastically raise the rates. I would do it again if the price was right. Having access to the pool ant hot tubs until 7pm was nice, and they were never crowded, even when open to everyone. One complaint is that they give you more wristbands than you need, and people were giving them away on Facebook groups pages and through the Carnival Hub app. You should only get as many as people in the room. Also the cabin below and 1 to the left smoked a lot on their balcony Carnival does not seem to care about this rule being broken either. Dining was about what I expected. We opted for YTD again @s you can get in and out quicker, we were able to get a table for 2 each time we ate in the MDR. We also ate at the Italian pay restaurant and the Steakhouse each one night, stakes fantastic, service excellent, always a great meal for the 35 you pay. Now the Italian, I found the chicken parmigiana better on lido, than the chicken parmigiana that we paid for. The show were good, the Playlist cast was fantastic. We previously saw two of the cast members in December on the Carnival Magic. Joe, as the lead character in Flick is amazing, you can feel his emotions as the show unfolds, he is the character and it shows, what a talent. They also preformed America Rocks, and Lip Sync Battle, as well as a cruise long version of a clue where you have to attend different events to gather clues as to who committed the murder. Cute idea. All of the staff we encountered were extremely friendly and accommodating, with the exception of shore excursion staff. After two bad cruises with shore excursion issues, I am ready to write off Carnival in this department. Tour in Grand Cayman cancelled but given enough notice so that we could have done another tour if we wanted. We went shopping instead. On the first stop, and our first time in Ocho Rios, we did the Top 10 tour. It was good, got to see many things, the drive was nice and we even got to try jerk pork or chicken, our guide took our orders, called ahead and had them waiting for us so we did not have to wait or lose any time. Now Cozumel again, Carnival let us down for the 2nd cruise in a row, we were late in docking and getting the okay fro local officials to go ashore. Schwartz made announcements that the tours would not leave anyone behind. Lines winded halfway down both sides of deck 1 to try to get out of a single exit on deck O. Did we make the tour and did it wait, no and no. Karla from shore excursions acted like it was out fault that we followed directions on how to get off the ship. She did finally agree to refund our tour, it was placed back on our sign and sail accounts by the time we got back on the ship. Casino was big and we didn’t think quite as smoky as on some other ships. I would go on the Vista again, but arrange all of my excursions ahead of time on my own so as not to be disappointed again. This was a small group cruise to celebrate Halloween. Embarkation and Debarkation as a Platinum member was a breeze. Cabin was not ready upon boarding at 11:50 a.m. Assistant steward very apologetic and I felt bad for him so did not cause a scene. Originally asked by cabin steward if I wanted cabin serviced a.m. or p.m? I hesitated and then advised I was from the old school and really liked the twice a day servicing. He advised no problem. I also asked for ice refill once a day. Service remainder of cruise was very good. Food overall was good to very good. Ate very little in Lido Market Place but noticed chicken tenders on the lunch buffet every day. Of course, there was a large variety of items to choose from. Dinner in dining room was very good and we had excellent service for our table of 9. While there is a huge variety of free food the extra size of the ship accommodated several for-fee food venues. I usually do not pay for extra food onboard but I did eat dinner one night at Bonsai Sushi. I had the Bento Box ($10) and the meal was worth it and very good. The service was excellent and the Japanese beer was cold. I loved the varied music venues onboard throughout the day and night. The comedians were excellent. Got to see 3 of their shows. The main nightly shows in the Liquid Lounge were good. However, the sight lines and seating were not as good as other Carnival ships I have been on. Even though the Vista is only 3,000+ GRT larger than then the Dream class the extra people onboard was noticeable. There were 4,385 revenue passengers onboard and it could be crowded at multiple areas of the ship. The service overall was better than I expected with the hiccup at the beginning of my cruise regarding the cabin. I was acknowledged with a hello, good morning/evening and by name from my cabin steward multiple times throughout the ship. We went to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. I took no CCL excursions but two couples in my group took the high speed catamaran to Passion Island Beach Day in Cozumel and raved about it upon return. Several took Captain Marvin's Stingray City plus 2 snorkel stops in Grand Cayman and loved it. In Ocho Rios we all walked over to the public Beach ($3 each) and did some snorkeling (Originally quoted $30 each but since 6 went haggled to $10 each) for 1 hour reef snorkeling which was excellent. We had a picnic table under a great shade tree and I paid $5 extra for a lounge chair. Of course there was a beach "manager" that arranged the reef snorkel and bought drinks to us. I left early and the rest stayed behind. They went to buy a last drink and after they opened the beers advised they were $4 each. We had been paying $2 each. The beach "manager" tried to say that it was me that said $2 and he never advised $4 and this was an outright lie. Needless to say once again Jamaica vendors live up to their bad reputation. If I return to Ocho Rios I would still go to this lovely beach but I would never order anything through the beach vendors ever again. In summary, I liked the Vista but it is not my favorite ship. With that said I was on the 6 day cruise. I like the 8 day itinerary and might go on it again if the price was right. Read Less

I have traveled with Carnival 3 times prior to this cruise and it was decent for the price. The Vista did not include hardly anything. The zipline bikes were only open 3 hours a day, the restaurants were only open at odd times, usually when people were enjoying the islands, my grandbaby was told he wasn't allowed in the pool because he wears swim diapers - yet many other toddlers in diapers were in there, we had the unlimited alcohol package but most bars closed at 9pm, the wait time was ridiculous - at least 20 mins each time. Staff was extremely rude, cabins seemed to be smaller than the other ships. When we booked we advised them it was our honeymoon and we were traveling with our kids, they never told us about the family harbor, or even about connecting cabins - which I specifically asked about and was told they do not exist! My kids room was not cleaned one time on the 6 day cruise. Many elevators were out of service. I can't climb stairs due to medical issues, my daughter had an infant in a stroller, and we have small children. We were constantly being separated while getting on/off ship. When leaving the cruise, our baggage was damaged, I completed a claim form at the terminal - 2 months later, they still have not contacted me regarding this. My wedding dress was damaged! We are planning a cruise to Hawaii in 2018 and will not be using Carnival after this! Read Less

This cruise was for our Vocal Team production with Celebrity Judicators. As a group function the ship is not designed for putting most of the group at any one experience. Ok that being said the embarkation event and getting on was flawless. We had a great luncheon on board because we reserved this in advance and it worked. Yet be aware that landside management and shipside management do not work together in achieving goals. I did like the ports we visited and wish I did more excursions. The ship is the newest of the fleet i understand. Yet the design seems to go back in time. The atrium is only 3 floors tall and very small with center bar.... Most new ships show large atriums and spacious common areas. Our previous ship experience was with a ship that had a center area more like Dadeland mall. Back to Vista the ship floors are all on the low side giving a very compressed feel. The theater was nice and very production intense even though the techs were not very experienced for the level of gear. They also had an IMAX theater for small fee. The show was pretty descent and MCs very good. My understanding is that the staffing was under manned about 20% so the service was totally hit or miss. Some would go out of their way while others couldn't catch up. Ex: we had one wheel chair elderly and when we went to the dining room one hostess tried to convince him to walk to the table cause a lack of room between tables. This is after 4 days of travel. And her demeanor was a bit rough. Yet the cabins were very nice stewards very good. The food was bar none the best I have had on any cruise! Yet didn't make up for the service in many areas. The restaurants and the rest rooms were super! They have these hand cleaning machines I really liked and sanitisers every where. I think the children's activities are fine and again that staff was good. I did not get chance to try excursions but other than they we a bit over priced (like most ships) they seemed fine. Would I take this ship again? Not for a while. Yet the food was definitely the best I have ever had on a ship. The two Guy Fieris spots were incredible, plus the Fish one, the Italian were all spectacular! Can not say enough about great food. The gym had great machines, plus the walking track while small had some isometric ones easy access and generally good out door activity. Our biggest issues aside from the dining room was more on the the coordination of the events. Landside promised one thing and shipside did another. It was close to a disaster. Another note the casino was not bad but the air filters were not catching the smoke well and I could not be in there more than 5 min. Oh TV wasn't bad either btw. Read Less

I was very excited to experience all of the new features on the Vista, however, this was not to be. Let's face it. It is big! That being said, I had a blast. And I would do it again. Embarkation was a breeze. Flew in to Miami, checked-in at the airport and my sign and sail card was waiting in a sealed envelope in my mailbox at my cabin. Faster to the fun, need. No, I didn't get to do everything I planned on doing but what I did was worth the eight days of sailing. No skyride or kaleidoslide for me. Although, those were in my plans. I enjoyed the IMAX, Cherry on Top and 555 Fahrenheit Steakhouse, which were extra charges. Dinner was always delicious and there was a nice variety on the lido deck , I.e., Guy's burger joint, the carving station and blue iguana cantina. I had an ocean suite, which I thought was a little small compared to others I have booked. And I didn't need the chair or towel animals every night. I could do without going to Grand Turk. I don't understand why the ships stop there. It's a waste of time. I could have done with more time in Aruba or the Dominican Republic. I've been on the route before, so I knew what to expect. I just really wanted to experience the new ship. The services from the cabin Stewart, wait staff to the concession stand staff at the movies was great, Best of all was the cruise director Mike. He was very entertaining during the whole cruise even though it was his last. Good Luck Mike. One last thing. Even though the ship was at capacity, I never found it to be crowded in any of the common areas. I traveled with 21 other guests in my group and the only time we saw each other is when we planned it! I'm ready for the next one.Cruise on! Read Less

Entertainment was ok but not fun like it use to be what is Carnival well known about The Fun ! The Liquid lounge very small and crowded the shows was not that great it could get better the Atruim so so so disappointing they put this bar in the center of the ATRUIM and not quite big enough for an events or dancing . The buffet was horrible foods same same bad taste everyday nothing I care for the foods and so scary no passengers washing hands before they entered the buffet no staff at the door keeping eye if you wash your hands coz the carnival had very short staff now they work there crews like an animal the crews not even allowed to speak to passengers that's so Sad Read Less

I had the hub app and within 8 seconds of it turning too "zero" we were headed up the escalators, getting photos done and walking the gangway to the ship! Very accurate I'd say! Pinch me was my favourite line for 3 days, I couldn't believe I was going to sail! What an incredible journey for us and one of the best holidays we have had! The ship is huge and I have no other to compare it too! There was so much to do on board or so little depending on what you prefer! I highly recommend the IMAX, it does cost extra but in my opinion it's well worth it! Lots of activities during sea days, we enjoyed walking the track, walking the decks, sight seeing! There are pools and hot tubs, which were usually busy. Water park with water slides! A sky ride which I recommend too! Basketball courts, outdoor exercise equipment! Lines for food were not unbearable, we just waited till they died down to go! Never had much trouble with that! We had late night dining and only went once! We usually enjoyed the buffet much more! We did two specialty restaurants, which had an added cost as well! Would I do it again...probably not, was it worth it...Yes! I am not one to sit at a table for 90 minutes to 2 hours or am able to eat that much food without them rolling me out the door! We did 3 excursion which were booked through Carnival! Electric Hummer cars in Grand Turks, Tuk Tuk ride in Bonaire, and a bus tour in Aruba! All well worth the price! Great way to see other islands! Our stateroom was very clean and comfortable! Our room Stewart's very accommodating and friendly! Always there to great you with a friendly smile! The beds and pillows were very comfortable! In all honesty we never had any issues any where on the ship! All staff polite and very busy! Matt is an amazing cruise director too!!! Read Less

I almost a yearly cruiser along with at least 10 other friends/family for the last 6 years, but been cruising since 1996! This year we chose VISTA , because she was a new ship and we enjoy traveling with Carnival Cruises, and have most years had great experiences. This year I traveled with 28 family members to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and just being with family!! Bad decision, even though VISTA is a new bigger grander ship, I was very unimpressed! Bigger ship more people and sub-par service. Even the food was not as good as we have grown use to, more space where they crammed more amenities but was it worth it?? Sports bars that accommodate maybe 30 people on a ship with over 3000! I couldn't believe it and during NFL playoffs no less!! SAD!!!! On my first day after boarding we went to the Atrium bar and were completely ignored by the bartender! It was during the time when people were still boarding and the bar was not even crowded. Than on the first night we were roomed on deck 1 (ALL NIGHT we heard the slamming of what appeared to be an unsecured life boat banging against the ship!) they did finally get it secured the next day so we didn't have to endure it on the rest of the trip! Never again anything other than at deck 3-4! I was so disappointed in this cruise. Lots of new things on the ship, but between the scheduled times and the actual space allowed, it's doesn't really allow people to engage in the activities we would like to enjoy. Also when you scheduled for late dining you have to miss out on shows or try to get in after the show begins or right in the middle. I must however state that as always our room cleaners ( Jonathan ) were exceptional! We are currently discussing if we should sail again with carnival next year or maybe its time to try another cruise line. I guess that's something to think about for our future endeavor. Read Less

Was excited to be trying a new ship. Embarkment out of Miami was great. Quick and efficient. Wasn't sure how I would like the new system with them leaving your sign and sail card in your mailbox but it seemed to work well. First thing I noticed when we entered the atrium was there was NO wow factor. The room looked small. I like the Miracle type ships where you can see up a couple of floors and have the elevators running up and down. This atrium looked small because of the ceiling. I did like the fact the bar was completely round. Things I liked/loved....New Carnival hub app is very good. Gives you all the daily activities, your sign and sail account info...sets reminders for shows you want to see...you can see all your pictures you took and purchase though the app. Only thing I didn't like about the app was they didn't have the dinner menu on there so you can view it. They also no longer have it on the TV in the cabin although I was told they are working on that. Photos...BRAVO BRAVO...Finally got it right. Everything is now digital AND they use face recognition. You take a selfie in the app and it will scan for all the pictures you took. The photo gallery has computers everywhere so you can just pull up your pics and pick and choose. No more hunting for your photos. They also give you more options for purchases like 5X7, 8X10, wallets...etc.. Food...Food in the main dinning room much better then on my last 3 cruises. Good choices and amazing taste. Really didn't get a bad meal....Pizza is pizza...the BBQ place was very good but being open only 2-3 hours on sea days only lines were very long. Karaoke....When in the Red Frog was awesome. Lively crowds and lots of fun CD was AWESOME. Probably the best CD we ever had. Matt was always around and always making sure everyone had fun. I did like that they enforced clearing out the comedy lounge between shows. As the lounge is small and gave everyone a chance to see the show. Things I didn't like...Dinning room service was very slow. Most nights averaging 2 1/2 hours. Staff was fine just covering to many tables. Not once on a 6 day cruise were we offered coffee. On the 3 night we just started to ask for coffee. You think they realize and just offer the next night..Nope....Bar staff practically invisible in dinning room. They also no longer come around selling "shots". Also photographers were hit or miss. Some days there some not. Really don't like the no table cloth tables. Tables always wet from drinks and just don't like putting silverware on the table. Overall ship seemed cramped. They just trying to fit to much stuff into a ship. The common areas were always congested. Tried to get on the new skyride 3 times and each time the wait was over an hour and a half. They also have no more "disco"...they use the main show room for dancing. The main show room is also very small compared to other ships. and one last complaint and I'm still waiting to hear back from Carnival on this. The Red Frog pub advertised on their menu a 20oz draft for $5.75. By the 3rd beer a friend realized they were pouring it into a 14oz glass. When confronted the bartenders told us they "ran out of those mugs"...but were still charging full price. This by the way went on ALL cruise. Other bars on the ship seemed to have the 20oz glasses so it was just the Red Frog. Also watch out on the self pour machines. Advertised as $4.00 but they add a "tip" on....Not sure who gets the tip as you pouring it yourself but hey....lol Overall I had a good cruise. I don't let much bother me as I'm sailing to places I want to see, someone is cooking and cleaning for me. I'm with good friends having a good time. Would I sail on the Vista again? Probably not. First lets start with the port of Miami staggered embarcation. I was scheduled between 11:30-12:00. I showed up at the port at 11:45, stood in line for 15 minutes outside and was inside the terminal for another 10 minutes before I made it to the check in desks. Check in was quick and efficient and I was in the waiting room within minutes after that and boarded the ship by 12:30. The ship is brand new and it shows. Everything onboard looks new. The layout of the ship is very different from older Conquest class ships, it's more compartmentalized and some people seem to have a problem with that but I loved it. My cabin was fine, more on that later. Dining and food... Oh carnival carnival carnival... THIS is where you have gone wrong. Since their cost cutting measures a few years ago there were big cutbacks on selection and quality of food and that has not changed. Still no tablecloths in the dining room, so the unhygienic situation has not changed there. Quite a shame as service in both the dining room and buffet was excellent. Shows in theatre and musicians throughout the ship were quite good. Sadly the layout of the theatre is an absolute mess. They wanted to make it a multi-use room and in the process made it useless. The floor is flat and unless you are in the front rows, all you see is the back of the heads of the folks in front of you. During the "Behind The Fun" tour, theatre staff acknowledged that this seating setup is a huge source of dissatisfaction for both the staff and cruisers. Service throughout the ship was excellent. I never had to wait for a bartender more than a minute. I'd say overall this was the best service I've had on any Carnival ships. Ports were all destinations I've already visited so in most cases I had my own plans. Debarkation and boarding back on the ship was a breeze with no wait at all in all ports. Though the food is almost a deal breaker for me, I would cruise this ship again as I enjoyed everything else about this ship. Read Less

My second time this year on the Vista, we chose this itinerary as our first Christmas cruise and opportunity to enjoy the Havana area. Our ports included St. Maarten, San Juan, and Grand Turk. I was so amazed that so many of the crew remembered us from our cruise this summer in the Mediterranean. Service overall was fantastic, from our amazing cabin steward Paul in the Havana area aft balcony on deck 6, Franklin our bartender in the Havana area, Gabriel our bartender at the Alchemy bar, the amazing hostess in the Fahrenheit Steakhouse where we ate twice (again), to Matt and Cookie cruise director and entertainment directors extraordinaires! I know that common areas on the ship can be crowded at times. I do not like crowds or lines, so I planned my experience accordingly. With Your Time Dining, when I did choose to eat in the MDR, I'd eat early between 5:30 and 6:00 to check in. We never waited in line more than 5 minutes. For the must-try Pig and Anchor Sea Day barbecue, I went right when it opened or later in the afternoon to avoid the crowds. It's superb, by the way. The brisket, chicken, sausage, mac and cheese, baked beans, and cornbread are best in class. For JiJi's Asian Mongolian wok lunch, I chose embarkation day to avoid any crowds at all. Of course, with the exclusive access to the Havana Area in the day time, our hot tubs, pools, loungers and large day beds were never crowded. This was heaven! It changes the whole cruise. It is completely worth it. If you know that service in the MDR can take 2-3 hours for dinner and you want to see a show, you should keep that in mind when ordering. Food in the MDR is just okay, especially if you stick to standard entrees. I don't do this. I order more unusual things like mussels, oysters Rockefeller, cheese plates, fish entrees, and port inspired entrée selections. These tended to be absolutely delicious. Also, if nothing sounded interesting to me, I'd make a meal of multiple appetizers and eat tapas style. I wish ordering a drink in the MDR meant that you could order from your wait captain. Once we ordered and never got our drinks. Also, it would be better if they had roving waiters on the decks to take drink orders when you're sunbathing. This kind of service is spotty on the ship. I'd eat every night in the steakhouse if they offered more entrees. It's excellent service, quiet, romantic, and superior quality dining. The hostess and wait staff went far beyond expectations to delight us with accommodating service. We had the Cheers package and loved a particular champagne only available there, so we stopped into the restaurant before dinner to get a glass and the hostess would just greet us and get our glasses. I felt like a VIP. Late night dining is great at Pizzeria del Capitano with hand tossed pizzas. This was the longest time we ever waited to eat, but we didn't mind because we conversed with others as we waited after midnight and got a beer at the bar right there. We'd have room service for breakfast and tried it once for dinner. My insider tip for this is to order an extra BLT for dinner and put it in your cabin fridge for breakfast the next day. Also tip your room service waiter! I loved the Studio VIP show and the America Rocks show this time. There was a small line the night we walked up to the Studio VIP show a few minutes early, and the cast pulled us out of line and asked us if we wanted to be in the show. We said yes, and got front row seats! If you're up for no-holds-barred adults entertainment, do not miss the NSFW late night adult scavenger hunt in the Liquid Lounge. I have never had so much fun on a cruise. We played a lot of trivia and won our coveted ship on a stick from the Vista this time as well. Our aft facing balcony was perfect with a view of the portside hot tub and the wake of the engines. The room is standard like all Carnival balconies with deeper balcony, Havana toiletries (including a body wash, body wash/shampoo dual purpose wash, and but no separate conditioner, so be aware of that), and special robes and towels. After 7PM, they open the Havana area to the entire ship. Because this was holiday season there were a lot of teens on vacation. On two nights, we had loud teens right outside our room in the hot tub not 10 feet from us. This was a bit of a nuisance, so I'd avoid this same type room when school was out if I sailed on the Vista again. Our itinerary was completely reversed due to storms in the Caribbean, but we had perfect weather, so I wasn't phased. St. Maarten is great for beaches, shopping in Philipsburg, and dining in Marigot. Our snorkeling tour through Carnival was cancelled the day before with no explanation, so we just booked a bus tour of the island with an opportunity to have lunch in Marigot. Good call! The island creole meal at Rosemary's on the beach was superb! Old Town in San Juan is absolutely charming for a food tour and a walking tour right off the ship, and you can walk to the beautiful, photogenic seaside port El Morro right from the ship. Grand Turk has pristine beaches, but Governor's beach right off the ship near Margaritaville is too crowded for me. I took a cab to Cockburn town for the best conch ever and then went on to Pillory beach a bit farther down and not as crowded. Loved it! This was the first cruise where we met a number of other gay and lesbian couples at the Alchemy Bar on the first night LGBT gathering with whom we hit it off, spent time off and on at shows, at trivia, and even meeting for dinner. We were so pleased! Frankly, even the rest of the people in the Havana area and the crew were incredibly friendly. We had so much fun. We loved taking spin classes in the mornings (for a $23/class per person fee) in the gym. The classes were always sold out, so sign up in advance! The technology with provided chest strap heart rate monitors and biking shoes is really cool! I've cruised plenty of times with Carnival now, and I know how to tailor an experience to have a wonderful time, avoid the crowds, mitigate any disappointments. I'm sorry that so many other people don't have the experience I have. I'd only book a spa cabin or a Havana cabin on this ship to insure a fabulous cruise. Read Less

This was our first time on Carnival. We enjoyed the ship. I was there for a conference and my wife enjoyed some down time during the day. The suite we were in was very nice. Layout worked well. We only did one shore excursion with the cruise line and this was the Scuba dive in Grand Turk. This was well organized and we were very pleased with our dive experience. Equipment provided seemed a little old and wore down but everything was safe and worked well. We ate in the main dining room every night so we can not comment on the specialty restaurants. The food in the main dining room was very good. We also loved the Guy's Burgers. Buffet was very disappointing. Never had a problem finding a pool chair on any of our sea days. Hot tubs were always full. Probably the most disappointing thing was that I purchased the soda program. I found it very difficult and sometimes impossible to get a soda. I don't drink coffee and so I have a soda with breakfast. You can not find any location that serves drinks before 8 am. This was a problem for me because I had meetings to attend and had early breakfast and wasn't able to have a soda until later in the day. Once the bars opened you could get them but lines were long in most bars and I found the service to be less than par. Casino was a nice size and on most nights was busy but not too bad. The only night it seemed to be too much was the last night of the cruise. It was packed and so smokey. Overall Carnival was acceptable. Would I cruise on them again, probably not unless I was attending a function or going with a group. Read Less

This is our 10th cruise all with Carnival. We went on the Vista On November 27th and had a great time. The new embarkation process was great after security check we were on the ship in about 15 minutes. The ship has that new feel to it. I liked that the ship was a Carnival ship with some of the same things as other ships in there fleet but, it had a different layout and feel. We stayed in a Havana Cabana Suite and absolutely loved the room our cabin steward Donna was Excellent and tended to all of our needs and kept our room clean and we always had ice available. Although with the wife and I being in our 50's we would have liked the room to be a little cooler. The shows were new and very good and i liked that you can change the seating to suite the show. Although the seating in the Liquid lounge was cramped at times. Also if you had a drink at certain seats you would have to hold it in your hands there was also a lack of waiters compared to other ships we've been on. Our dining experience was great we had excellent waiters in Reflections lower near the back. We did 2 excursion one in Jamaica and one in Nassau. The one in Jamaica was a Rum, Reggae and jerk taste excursion which turned out to be a lot of fun. The excursion in Nassau was a private beach and barbecue excursion which we had one at the excursion show. the private beach was nice but the barbecue turned out to be one hamburger, cheeseburger, or a hot dog which in my opinion does not make it a barbecue lol. Like most Carnival ships there was plenty going on around the ship everyday. The IMaX theatre was great we saw some first run shows the seats are lacking on the comfort side but overall they were roomy and clean. The cruise director matt Mitcham is an excellent cruise director always out and about making sure you are enjoying yourself. The new pigs and anchor was good both sea days but not consistent. One day the collard greens had more meat than greens and the cut off way to much meat and bark off of the smoked butts but, I guess they will work that out as they go along, The seafood shack was ok but I found it a little lacking, I ordered a dozen oysters on the half shell and they were some of the smallest oysters I've ever had also they could have been better prepared when served, but the were fresh tasting. Steakhouse was great as always but my cowboy steak was a little on the thin side and I do miss the porterhouse steaks. Throughout the ship the waiter staff seemed a little lacking. Also considering we are saving Carnival money by not printing out every photo they take you would think that they would pass on some of that savings to us. Would like to see some new items on the dinner menu. Overall great ship great crew and we had a great time. Read Less

We've been cruising mostly Carnival the last 17 years. I feel we get the most bang for our buck and the treatment we get is awesome. We recently sailed with another couple (from the Czech Republic) on the new Vista through the Mediterranean just before she headed to New York. The ship was very nice and met all of our expectations with a couple of exceptions...no glass elevators. My wife and I have always loved the layout of the Carnival ships so they are very easy to navigate. I think this time I expected something different. The "different" was the I-Max theater. Wow, very very nice but they need a much bigger selection of movies. Sci-Fi might be cool movies to see but it's just not us. "Sully" was great to see. The down side of having the I-Max was the loss of the glass elevators which I always thought were really awesome. They need to make the next ship (Horizon) long enough to accomodate both. The buffet was ok...the Seafood Shack was good and the price no big deal but I missed the Indian food and the fish & chips (on the Glory). Sushi is a must! The taste bar and the outdoor BBQ were fabulous! The salad bar on the Serenity deck needs an awning but what a fabulous idea...loved the selection..would've liked it to be self serve but the service was great. The Sky Ride was very cool and the water park was something I can't wait to take our grandkids to. The cabin (inside was adequate as usual). The updated room temperature control was an A++ on my wifes book! She hates being cold in the ship (we're outside mostly anyway) but she was cold in the cabin too much on other ships. We thought the "any time" dining would be great but after 10 days of it we decided assigned dining was better. That way you can get to know your waiter and the people you sit with. We'll probably do the early dining again as we have been on quit a few of the excursions for which late dining is nice. The service was great as usual with the exception of one dining night when the server was slow and oblivious. The items on the menu were sumptuous...I really got hooked on the flat Iron steak in wine sauce Because we were out and about so much in Greece, Italy, France and Spain we were too tired to hit much of the entertainment after dinner...sit in the hot tub and soak out the weariness. The countries we visited were absolutely picturesque with tons of history everywhere you go. All the ports were very nice and getting through them was very easy. The BEST way to get Euros is to take money out directly from your account from back home through an ATM at the country you are in. If you go to a bank you have to show them your passport. The exchange rate is better through the ATM as well. The real disappoinment was for as long as these countries have existed there were some places very filthy with grafiti everywhere.. even where there shouldn't have been. The joke was "it looks like Greek to me!". The open top buses (hop on, hop off) is one of the best ways to see most of the local major sites..about 20 Euros per person for the day.. The train ride to Rome was great and fast (100 mph/165 km).The crouds in Rome were insane. We still managed to see enough to scratch our siteseeing itch. The weather in Greece was very nice but got cooler the further north we went..naturally. By the time we got to Spain it was jackets! We are good with Europe for a long while now..we love the warm Carrabean. Overall, Carnival did a great job! Their service is splendid! Our entertainment director did a great job, unfortunatey she went to another ship. We'll be back on the Vista Dec 3 for a couple weeks. Coming from Michigan I'm looking forward to the warmer weather! ..and hopefully they have a larger selection of movies in the I-Max. I'm hoping Carnival has something going from Hawaii to Australia soon...I'll be on it if they do. Read Less

As travel agent, always interested in personal experience to better sell the product. From almost 40 cruises taken, I consider this cruise the BEST! The itinerary, the activities on the ship, the eating and drinking venues! My only regret was not having enough time to try more dining options and more activities! Closed down the Havana Club every night, loved the IMAX, acquired a taste for martinis at the Alchemy Bar!!! Steakhouse dining was the BEST! Buy's hamburgers were amazing! Skyride was awesome! I really liked the idea of having different breakfast options without having to fight the crowds in the Lido Deck. The Havana Club was VERY cool!I was disappointed with the clam chowder, but the main dining room food was good. I was not able to try the conk fritters. I was disappointed with the cake and brownies in the Bake Shop, but I waited for the freshly-baked chocolate cookies every afternoon. I would sail again and not go ashore where I've visited previously so I can enjoy the ship! LOVED IT! Read Less
