As a family went on the conquest two years ago had a great time within a week of returning we booked on the vista read the reviews about the vista and looked forward to going the ship itself is awesome it is a beautiful ship didn't get lost to much the food was excellent the waiters were fantastic Lionel,Poopoo and tommy were great the other food options were great the twenty four hour pizza was a big hit guy fieres burger place was great if you misses out on food it was your own fault the entertainment was awesome there was a lot going on and you had to plan some to get to it all but there was enough notifications to plan it the vista atrium was really cool maybe not as big as some of the other ships, but very cozy the bar staff there were als,o great know your name and beverage choice by the second hour the crew made this cruise very enjoyable always smiling always a good morning or afternoon very pleasant people. The ports of call were very nice even though they are still recovering from the hurricanes. On the tours we took the guide told it like it is the good with the bad it was very well done. The cruise director on this ship is named Matt the guy was awesome, not only full of info but funny as heck. The staterooms were well kept and the room steward was great. The only problem was the skyway was being worked on, the, walkway was working even though I had no desire to go on it. To sum it all up we had a fantastic time and look forward to our next cruise Read Less

PROS: Cruise was Very Nice. Good ports and Great Port times. Had a lot of fun. Food was also really good and we had open seating which was also great. We loved the Ship as it was new. Staff was nice, and right away we found a good server and booked with him every night. Its a good recommendation to anyone who likes consistency as the waiter will serve you right every night / breakfast as he / she will know your style / taste. We also liked the tea time at sea days. Ship has plenty of space for you to be in OR out of noise. CONS: the Ocean View Bikes were broken for the entire cruise which was a bummer and unexpected as its a new ship. Also, one of the embarkation doors was broken which made the initial check in 3 hours long. If you booked this cruise, you'll have a great time, just be careful on the room you choose. Read Less

This was our 5th or 6th Carnival cruise, but definitely our last. The last 2 or 3 Carnival cruises we took, we noticed a definite decline in several aspects of the cruise experience in regards to food quality, drink quality, and service. This cruise was a new low.The ship itself was fine, pretty average. Staterooms the same. On this cruise though, we made the mistake of going during spring break. I've been on 17 or 18 cruises, and I've never seen anyone puke in the pool. On this cruise, it happened 3 times in 2 days. On one of the 3 sea days we had, someone puked in the main pool, shutting it down for the day because the ship can only discharge into the ocean at certain times, and they said 9 pm was the soonest they could drain the pool. It sucks, but accidents happen. What made me mad was when the drunk people who had "taken over" the main pool with volleyball equipment they brought on board had to leave because someone puked in the pool (presumably one of them), they proceeded to take their operation to the back of the ship to the Tides pool, taking it over and resumed their game despite staff passively saying that's not allowed, but doing nothing else. 10 minutes later, there's puke in that pool and it had to be shut down. So now, here we are in the early afternoon on a sea day with 80 degree temps and no pool to enjoy because ship staff failed to intervene with these obviously intoxicated people. Several people complained to guest services, including a platinum member that was with us, but to no avail. We were offered a couple of drinks and a dinner upgrade, but there was little to no acknowledgement that we lost about 1/2 day of our cruise because we could no longer enjoy a pool anywhere on the ship due to a failure on the part of ship staff. They did admit they failed, but said it was against their "policy" to reimburse passengers for these inconveniences (several of us requested that Carnival credit our stateroom accounts the equivalent of 1/2 day of our cruise fare to compensate us for having no available pools for half of a sea day). One of the most disappointing things was that one of the passengers who went to guest services with us on this issue was a Carnival Platinum member, Carnival shareholder, has spent close to $100,000 cruising with Carnival and was treated as if they were a first time cruiser. I felt sick for them and their brand loyalty (which I think is over). Earlier that day, I had already been to guest services to complain that the ship's exhaust was peppering the Tides pool area with black and rusty soot from the engines. It ruined several shirts of people in our group as well as the drinks we were holding. Carnival did pay for the ruined clothing after a failed laundering attempt. 17/18 cruises, never seen that happen with soot raining down. There were a few bright spots on this cruise, however. The Red Frog Pub was a great hangout spot. Never too crowded, great staff, and great food and drinks. Dining staff was hardworking and went above and beyond every night. I wouldn't recommend paying the $20 extra for the 555° Steakhouse upgrades. The lobster we ordered was way overcooked (the steamed lobster on lobster night is better) and the filet was mediocre. Definitely not worth the $20 upgrade and most definitely not worth the $35 pp fee to have dinner in the steakhouse. The 24/7 pizza and Guy's burger joint were awesome. The lines prove that is a very popular feature. Our stateroom was average, but there was something next door in a service area that sounded like metal creaking really loud whenever the ship was moving, and it would go on all night long. This was loud enough to disrupt our sleep. If you are considering going on this ship, I would avoid stateroom #2367 for this reason. Overall, Carnival has again proven to me they are the "Walmart of the waves". I'm actually kind of embarrassed to say I've cruised with them as often as I have, but no more, especially having seen how they treat their top tier members. Ouch. Read Less

I'll split this into a few subtopics and rate what I did and did not like. This is only the second cruise I've been on, so I'm by no means an expert but I'll compare it to Royal Caribbean Allure of the Seas. Embarkation/ disembarkation (Good): Very easy, painless process. No more difficult than RCI to embark and disembarkation was excellent (we arrived back early and chose to bring off our own luggage). Very good process with little waiting in line. The Ship (Okay): The ship was impressive and had a lot of activities to take part in, some of which I thought were great and others I think are a little unnecessary and meant social areas had less space as a result. Firstly, the cinema is a nice extra and is reasonably priced, but I found it took up a lot of space meaning other areas seemed more cramped. This added to the strange layout of the ship and meant there was no real central social area. It wasn't a big problem but it did make the interior feel more enclosed compared to the Allure, which had a lot of social space. The water slides, Skyride and ropes course are great fun, but be prepared to line up for them. Sometimes the line could extended to the bottom of the steps for the slide meaning it was a 5/10 minute wait and the Skyride line often exceed an hour on sea days (note that if weather deteriorates they can close this at any point). Nonetheless, I think they are great additions to the ship and we really enjoyed them. There was a variety of bars and places to eat, but for some reason the ship just felt like it was lacking in things to do. The comedies and entertainment all took place in the same places, meaning there was little choice on what to do at any given time. On the Allure, there was lots of activities to take part in at the same time, but there didn't seem to be much choice on the Vista. The ship did also seem overcrowded at times. I don't think this is confined to this ship and we experienced the same on RCI, but there was a line for pretty much everything on the Vista. This was most prominent at breakfast, which I will go into later. It was also impossible to get a sunbed if you didn't come down early in the morning, the hot tubs were normally full and there was always long lines for food. I found the layout of the decks pretty standard and I liked the adults only area. However, the staff didn't seem to enforce the rules regarding adults only (there were clearly people there under 21) as well as the "no saving sunbeds" rule. Another criticism was the location of the outdoor smoking area (deck 10 starboard) which is next to the pool and a busy walkway. It was probably the windiest part of the ship and there always children walking past (which seemed to defeat the idea of a smoking area). I felt really uncomfortable smoking next to children and people sunbathing. This seemed to also be another rule that wasn't particularly enforced. I saw people smoking outside of the designated area regularly and none of the staff said anything. From a safety perspective, I felt its something that should really be enforced. All in all, there were aspects of the ship I really liked, but the layout could be better. The Cabin (Good): We stayed in a cove balcony cabin and were really impressed. The room was clean, spacious and the bed was incredibly comfortable (I'm a flight attendant and better than most hotel beds I've stayed in). The balcony was lovely and worth the extra money. From the outside, it looks as though you wouldn't be able to see anything from the cove balcony as it below the lifeboats, but this completely isn't the case. It's nice being low down as you can see and hear the waves hitting the ship and its a lot more private than the standard balcony rooms. It was also a great price (we paid just £50 more each to upgrade from Ocean View). We really liked the room and the only negatives we had was that there was a shower curtain rather than enclosure and only had shower gel/ shampoo in a dispenser attached the wall, rather than miniature bottles, but this is us being pernickety. The room was cleaned to a good standard by the friendly housekeeping team and had everything we needed. Another thing we loved (that I don't think RCI have) is the launderettes on every floor. It cost 3 USD for the washer and 3 USD for the drier as well as 1.50 USD for detergent. There was also a free iron and ironing board. We really liked this idea and it was so handy if you like ironed clothes or forgot to pack a few bits. Dining (Okay): There are 3 different dining sittings, early (18:30), late (20:30) or my time dining. We chose the my time and really liked the flexibility. We're late eaters and liked that we could go for dinner up until 21:30. With my time, you check in at deck 5 and they allocate your table and give you a wait time before heading to deck 3. We didn't wait at all for dinner on any of the days and really liked not having a set dining time. When you arrive at the restaurant, you are shown to your table by the front of house staff (Tanusree was fantastic, she would greet us by name everyday and, after having 2 bad tables at the start of the cruise, endeavored to make sure we had nice tables every night after. She was probably the friendliest of all the staff we came across and was extremely helpful). The setting isn't particularly grand but it's not unpleasant. There is no tablecloth except for formal nights and this didn't bother us at all. There is no dress code on casual nights and its common to see shorts and t shirts. Formal nights do have a dress code (no jeans/ t shirt/ short sleeved shirts) but this was never enforced. After reading reviews regarding food, I had low expectations but was actually pleasantly surprised. I don't think the food was as good as RCI, but I didn't think it was bad either. I liked the "taste of port" menu which had specialties of where you were that day and I liked the majority of the food most days. My partner had the steak a few times, it was nice most times apart from one tough cut. The thing that let the dining experience down was the service. It was pretty inconsistent, some days good and some bad with different waiters each night. At RCI, the service was excellent and our waiter knew us all by name, giving recommendations each night. We didn't get that at Carnival and I would assume this was due to my time dining. I wouldn't have minded being served by different staff each night, but the level of service by each was so different. Some would talk, some wouldn't. None gave recommendations and some wouldn't bring fresh cutlery between meals (those who did put them on the bare table). I wouldn't say the dining experience was poor, but it wasn't as good as RCI. Maybe the staff could have a little more training and this would improve? Entertainment (poor): I felt this was where the ship was really let down. A lot of reviews praised Matt (the cruise director) but I wasn't as impressed. Matt was very funny and friendly, but some of his team seemed to have a different agenda (when I say some, I by no means mean all). It appeared that some of the team were failed stage wannabes who wanted to be the center of attention. I found it took away from the people it should be about, the guests. This is just my opinion. I also found the quality and range of activities poor. I didn't see many of the shows as none appealed to be (none were big name stage shows) but the one I did see, I wasn't particularly impressed with. Apart from the shows, all the other "entertainment" consisted of Matt standing on the bar in the atrium or on the seats around the pool (for deck parties) and doing dance routines, getting guests to join in. The music was extremely repetitive (we could predict every song that would come on) and it was pretty much the same thing every night. It was very American focused and I didn't find it entertaining. After the "entertainment" was finished, they would always say to head to the lounge (a club) but at that point, all of the staff would disappear. This was the biggest let down from Carnival and RCI was a lot better. Apart from the mainline entertainment, there was a piano bar (which I found better than the main entertainment) and a band in the Havana bar. There was also another mainline band in the lounge area and either some singers or violinists in the atrium (who were both very good). Past 11pm, most entertainment would dry up leaving you with the choice of the piano bar or the nightclub. I'd go with the piano bar as the nightclub played the same music constantly! All in all, a little disappointing on the entertainment front. Other likes: - Download the Carnival app, I thought it was great. You can book excursions, see whats going on and download professional photos. - The salad bar at the adult only section of the ship was a simple but wonderful idea. I got bored of unhealthy good and this a nice touch. It would just be nice if it was open more often, it was only open 1-3 on sailing days. - The bars never seemed to be too overcrowded meaning it didn't (normally) take too long to get a drink. - The price for the cruise itself we found to be reasonable. If you want to keep costs down, you can (soft drinks package/ cove balcony rather than a standard/ reducing gratuity costs etc.). Other dislikes: - Everything is an added extra. Soft drinks cost more, if you buy a drinks package its limited to 15 per day and the spa is extremely expensive. As with other cruise lines, there are pay- for restaurants (which I didn't think were overpriced) but it all adds up. I think the cost of most amenities was inline with RCI with the exception of the drinks package which was overpriced and limited, unlike RCI. - Some days there seemed to be too many announcements from Matt the cruise director. It was seemingly constant and got annoying. - The DJ played the same music, every day both on the deck and the nightclub. It was too repetitive. - As soft drinks were chargeable, there were no soft drinks stations like RCI. This meant that kids had to go to the bar and wasn't as pleasant for them. - The restaurant was severely overcrowded at breakfast. You could be waiting for 20 minutes just to get to the front of the buffet. I think Carnival really need to look into this. We got around this by ordering room service. - The restaurant had strange opening times. Breakfast ran late but there would be gaps between meals. This wasn't a problem on sea days, but on port days you could get back on board at 4pm feeling peckish and the restaurant was closed. There were other dining options but nowhere to get anything healthy. The rumors: When I read other reviews there were a couple of things I picked up on that I thought I should clarify. - I don't think you can feel the moment of the ship more than other vessels. i'ts a ship, it moves, of course you'll feel it. I don't think it was excessive though. - I didn't think the Casino was overbearing with smoke. Obviously people can smoke there but I don't think it's worse than any other casino. The issue may be that its more centrally located on this ship. - The pools did look a little green. I'm not sure why, it may be a chemical imbalance and I don't think it would be anything to be concerned about. - The theater isn't as horrible as people make out. The main issue is that the seats aren't layered as well as the could be so it's hard to see over the person in front of you. The bottom line: We had a great cruise and really enjoyed ourselves. The main issues are the overcrowding in public areas, the strange layout of the ship and poor organised entertainment. There's lots to do in the day for all ages, its only at night things seem to slow a little. If they improved the entertainment I think it would be a lot better. In future, my preference would be Royal Caribbean, but if the price is right (we saved around 800 USD per person going with Carnival for a like-for-like room) I would chose Carnival again. Read Less

I chose this cruise because my family was going on the same dates. I booked late so no balconies were left. Ended up with interior Deck 8 Forward (8233). This was the smallest room I have ever booked on a cruise and for the length of time I brought lots of clothes that didn't fit in small one door closet and three drawers for two of us. I learned my lesson to just take a deck 1 exterior room next time. My family had these rooms and was double the size of ours. I didn't meet our steward until day 3. He did great job of getting me ice each night and left us little towel animals each night. My only gripe was that the Sheets were stained and warn. The pillow cases had heavy beeding. We were originally signed up for anytime dining but changed to early dining as soon as we boarded the boat. The reflections dining room was of less quality than any other ship we've sailed on before. It was very closed in with low ceilings and blocked views out the windows. The other dining room where we ate breakfast each morning was much nicer and had that two story open feeling. Our waiter and waitress we had every night became like family. Our waitress Chi Chi was very friendly and took very good care of the kids we were traveling with. They are three and five and she made sure their meals came right away each night. Our waiter Edward would do magic tricks for the kids and was very personable sharing his hopes of getting promoted into management. The wait staff opened up to me about the long hours they work daily and that they strictly work for tips so the more families they can serve each night the better money they make. Sometimes they have to give quality and sacrifice quantity so that can affect their pay. I disclosed right away I'm in Human Resources so they were very willing to answer any inquisitive questions I asked. Every staff member I came across on this boat was very friendly. I only had one instance where I had to get direct and that was when I tried to eat lunch at the Wok (free till 2:30pm daily) for the fourth time they turned me away at 1:45 stating there's a 50 minute wait. I explained it was the fourth time they're turning me away in a week and I will wait. We were the last ones served in the restaurant that day but it was a nice tasting lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed the three "At Sea" lunch days. Breakfast at the Mexican restaurant was good too. Lunch there was just OK. We had lunch a Guy's Burger one day and it was OK. When we first got on the boat we went to the Guys BBQ. The meat was very salty and the sides were not very good. Food all 7 nights in the dining room was fantastic with so many variations for every diet. We had the opportunity to see all 4 comedians on this cruise. They were all great. Cheeky Charlie was the comedy club manager & she was great fun. We spent lots of time in the casino because they incentivize you after earning 100 points. Learned too late to do all gambling on one card so we would have double the chances to get entered into drawings. As far as Ports on this boat I was thoroughly impressed with all 4 Ports. We did ATV tour on Grand Turk and glad we did as not as much to do on this island say the other 3. Then in Puerto Rico we took taxi off the boat to Bacardi Factory. This was a great thing to do since it was raining the day we were there. We did not make it to the fort because of Weather but if I could request more time in Puerto Rico that would be my only gripe. We explored some of the shopping right off the boat since it was close and convenient. Then when we arrived at St Kitts we took a taxi for 5.00 a person to the beaches farther away. There are men in green shirts right when you exit the boat. There's the 3.00 beach, 5.00 beach & 7.00 beaches. Our 5.00 beach was amazing with rental of two chairs & umbrella costing us $15.00 and bucket of 6 local beers for $15.00. They had showers and free internet as well as jet ski rental services available right there. Our final day was in St Maarten and I wish we would have done an excursion from the boat. We took water taxi over to Dutch side for 7.00 per person but it didn't feel like we got much accomplished. They had a beach with chair rental there too but we had just done it in St Kits. All fun excursions were sold out so boook this one early. Over all I will probably not take a cruise on this boat again because I couldn't get used to the closed in feeling on this boat. There was only one area inside with view of multiple levels. The dining room felt closed it. It overall felt too closed off with very few places to get outside views except through smoked glass. Debarkation was a little bit of a nightmare on this boat. First they start yelling out to exit the boat at 7:00 am when we were in the casino for the final drawing at just midnight. Then they start yellin every 10 minutes to keep exiting. We did not go to the debarkation meeting so we didn't get tags to get off until much later. We decided we get sleep and eat breakfast in dining room but the sleep part was cut short. When I went to pick up our liquor purchases they put three bottles in a two bottle holder so the handle broke. Add for 4 bottle box if you buy 3. Easier when getting to your car/airport. Read Less

I chose this shop because we went on it in march 2017 and we had a blast. We (4) took a 8 day southern to aruba etc and we had mike as the cruise director. He was amazing so we came back and this time we have matt. Personally i enjoyed mike as a cruise director better. We saw mike all over the ship dressed in different funny memorable outfits. The love and marriage game was better last year. The massage spa treatment was great last year. This year i was thinking of getting one but because of lizelle (one of carnival receptionists reps on deck 11) wasn’t very pleasant. I don’t deal with attitude so i chose not to get a couple massage this year. The food was great at breakfast lunch and dinner. I have 2 favorite waiters/waitress. Juan martin very pleasant and funny. Tells some really funny jokes and elena the headwaitress. She’s amazing. Bubbly and fun. My favorite food last year was the blue iguana. This year it wasn’t hot. So i only had a bowl one day. Last year guy burgers burgers were burnt. This year they are amazing. I think i ate one everyday. Lol. Pizza line is always long. Need a second maybe even a 3 rd person to help out to keep the line down. Ping pong is one of our favorite. We played everyday and if balls weren’t available. Staff would make them readily available. Red frog game peices need to be replaced. A lot the the pieces on shuffleboard were broken. Comedy was pretty funny. I missed lip sync battle. Our girls enjoys o2 for pre teens. Fun and games available. One of my favorites is mz. Drums on the steel drums. You will be amazed at her talent. The shows on the older ships to be are better. I wonder whatever happened to the ice sculpting and the day for different ethnic foods on the lido deck?? The gym area was great but what i noticed on this cruise was we weren’t able to use the steam room unless you pay for it. Why on earth would they charge for this now. On any previous cruise steam and sauna was readily available at no charge and was great after a workout. Thumbs down for this one. I will say the sauna is still free. Room service- our room steward was excellent for both our balcony room and our girls room. He did a excellent job in maintaining and keeping it tidy. Ashbin is his name i believe. Some employees would greet you and some wouldn’t. Overall i give it a 8 for customer service. The halls and i will still continue to cruise with carnival. I love the excitement and adventures. Oh. Just remember they have pigs and anchor (bbq) on deck 5 open only sea day. As well as jiji asian and cucianas italian available 11-2 free daily. Read Less

Went with my mom and two boys - ages 10 and 13. Did Harmony last year and wanted to go on Vista to compare them. Vista did not disappoint, despite so many negative reviews. We had a GREAT time. I don't understand how some can be so easily annoyed and let their vacations be ruined. Not us! Sure not everything is perfect, but it was all good enough for us to have a great time. Embarkation was a little annoying. You have to wait outside for a long time before getting it. That's because security and check in is right when you enter. Would be nice if they could at least move check in upstairs to that the line can move quicker. Loved all the activities they have - sky ride, ropes course, pool tables, water slides, etc. My boys were never bored. Loved the movies at night at the Lido Deck. All fairly new movies. Didn't have a chance to try the IMAX or thrill theater. Ship never felt crowded despite it being Spring Break and I'm sure it was at capacity. Long lines sometimes for food (not in the MDR) but it went pretty fast. Loved Guy's burgers! Buffet was so-so, not so many options. But with the other free venues, we didn't have to go there. MDR was good, some items were awesome, some not so much. But that's the same for all cruise lines. Blue Iguana was good too, especially for breakfast. Didn't have pizza, but my mom loved it. Italian & Asian restaurants for lunch were really good. Didn't get to try Seafood Shack even though I really wanted to. There are so many food options that I never made it there. Did MDR each night for dinner with my time dining. Never had a problem getting a table, never had to wait. Kind of silly going to deck 5 to get your table reservations and then going down to the restaurant, but it really wasn't that big of a deal. Service was always fairly quickly. Only one night was a little bit slow. Comedy club was awesome. Did all the PG shows with the kids and enjoyed them. Didn't do any shows. Tried one and it wasn't that great. We didn't last 10 minutes. Cruise director, Matt, was hysterical. Best cruise director EVER. Loved all four ports that we visited - Grand Turk, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts & St. Maarten. Grand Turk - Hung out at the beach right off the boat. Just walked a down the beach a bit to get away from the crowds. Puerto Rico - Took a taxi to El Morro and then walked our way back, hitting different spots on the way back. St. Kitts - Did Moko Jumbie snorkel & beach tour. Awesome! The spot that they took us snorkeling was amazing, even saw an octopus. St. Maarten - Major hurricane destruction is all over the island. Very sad. Went to Maho Beach and had a great time. Debarkation was smooth. We took our luggage with us and were able to walk right off. Would definitely cruise on the Vista again. Read Less

This was our first Carnival cruise and we were a bit hesitant, thinking this was the Walmart experience. Embarkation A Embarkations was super fast. We received a text alert that one gangway was not operation and expected significant delays, but only 10 minutes from curb to ship. The ship cards were immediately available at your stateroom. Décor: B First impression was the atrium lacked the wow effect. Only three decks and did not have the typical glass mirror and in the center a LED martini glass. No rich wood or decorum. We however warmed to this area, and the music performances seemed more intimate. Cabin; B Our room was in the Family Harbor section and we enjoyed having a nearby lounge for breakfast and coffee. The room had a slightly extended bathroom which meant the door was extremely narrow. The bathroom was fine and did not feel overly small, the AC was fine, and the two special request we made to the steward were promptly addressed. Another guest had a comment that Carnival was slipping and mentioned that room service was only once a day. This was true and we had to find our own towels several days. Another problem, and perhaps worse with the younger passengers is that people continue to use their outside voices in the hall. Food:A Breakfast: Generally in the lounge, and restaurant only once. No issues or complaints. Lunch: Wow!!! there were so many options, including no cost specialty restaurants, out side venues like the BBQ, Mexican and Burger places, buffet and the taste bar. Very good. Dinner: at the restaurant and excellent each night. Be sure to look over the entire menu as some items are on a separate page "Ports of Call". We often ordered more than one appetizer and thought most were excellent. After hours, great sandwiches and 24 hour pizza. Daily Activities A Very extensive with multiple events and trivial several times each day. Outside, there were so many things to do, our family, including my teen son, was very active. Major Entertainment B Matt, the cruise director was very good and high energy. The Limelight Lounge where more comedy shows were held was fine. Although the 18+ was pretty raw. Would like to have seem more PG offerings. The Liquid Lounge is too small, and had very bad sight lines. I understand it is multipurpose, but the rows, especially in the upper level were not tiered, The second and third row provided no view, while other rows were also affected. The upper deck should have been dropped 12 - 18 inches and all rows properly tiered. There was a special performance by C. Ivy and she very good, Wishing for more songs. The ship's troupe did not seem to have dynamic voices and that may have been the source or how the microphone was set up. Overall, not too impressed with the vocals. Secondary Entertainment A Very nice acts with plenty of variety. Safety D One night, a 19 year old teen, who was apparently drunk, confronted, then attacked a group of ten teens. He tossed glassed, chaired and physically stuck some of the kids. The next day, he was free to roam the ship without escort. Shore calls: very fast and easy to get off and on. This was our second Carnival cruise. First one was almost 4 years ago and I am so glad they improved on the embarkment and disembarkment. Before, they use to snap pictures of people when trying to get off the ship at ports right on the gang plank. Now, they moved that to the dock, much better and disembarkation went so quickly going on and off. We did have a 2 hour delay getting on in Miami which was crazy and no one ever explained to us what was going on, but you're on vacation and away from the snow so no big deal standing in the sun in Miami for us Canadians. We had a balcony and it is the only way I have cruised so far so can't compare it to anything. Room was the usual small cabin/comfy quarters but how much time does one spend in their room, right? The cabin steward kept our room clean and lovely towel animals. Use to get chocolate on pillows but didn't get any this time. We went to Grand Turks, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts and St. Maarten - Puerto Rico is still my favourite place. Saw damage from hurricane's in PR but especially in St. Maarten. So sad. The planes are returning to St. Maarten. Did not do any excursions on this trip so can't recommend. Entertainment was good. Matt the Entertainment Director was great, very funny. The staff on the ship work very hard and are always so polite and friendly. The ship is kept very clean considering there are thousands of people on it. Dining, Buffets and Food: I am a plant based vegan and that was impossible on the ship unless I only wanted to eat salad every meal. I started eating vegetarian on the ship, which also was harder than you would think given it is 2018. In the dining room one evening, I was about to order the tomato soup as a starter but my waiter informed me it was made with "chicken" stock. Seriously! Then whenever I found stir fry at the buffet, it had chicken or shrimp or both. Only once I found it with just veggies. I went to the asian place for lunch and ordered a veggie stir fry and it was good, although very small. I found the selection of food anywhere on the ship terrible if you were vegetarian and for get it if you were vegan. Family I was with had lobster one night at dining and the lobster was mostly raw. I think for the amount of money I paid (and for Canadians, we also have to fly to a port), the food should be better with options that are not ALL meat, cheese and dairy. And if you make a soup that contains no meat like vegetable or tomato, use vegetable stock to make it not chicken. So many of the various salad options were loaded with mayo ... vegans don't do ANY dairy. I have to say, I was very disappointed in the food. I expected better. I contacted Carnival prior to going and mention I was vegan/vegetarian and they said talk to my waiter. One night in the dining room they made me a special meal, two pieces of broccoli, over cooked asparagus and two hunks of not cooked tofu. It was disgusting. Carnival, you need to dedicate a cook to vegetarians/vegans at meal time. Someone who can make at least one thing completely tasty and healthy. Waterslides - so much fun! Skyride- LOVED it! Summary: for us, cruising is so expensive when you take in account the airfare to get to a port, cost of the cruise, all the gratuities, extras for decent coffee or a drink and then all the expenses when you go off at various ports. I think it is cheaper to go to a resort for 2 weeks then one week on a cruise. I also think that since I have only been on Carnival, I will have to research the other cruise lines to see if they have vegan/vegetarian options that Carnival just does NOT have. If so, my cruising dollar will go to the line that does. I'm not going to neglect my health just because I'm on vacation. Read Less

We just got back from our Jan. 2018 Sailing and we did have a great time. It was a rough first couple days because of the weather but the Captain did the best he could. We were the only ship to make it into our first port. I had heard that a few others werent able to get in. This was our 3rd Carnival cruise and I have to say that the food was the best on this sailing. BBQ and Guys Burgers were very good. Even the buffet food has some really good choices at each meal. The room was pretty much the same as any other carnival cruise. The entertainment was good to great. We saw all 4 comedians. 2 were excellent and 1 was good, while the other was not so good. Blanchard was one of the excellent ones and the others name was Marvin something. Our Cruise Director Matt was the best we have had. Excellent all the way around. Lines were not bad other than if you wanted good seats for the comedy shows. One suggestion for people coming on the Vista. There are not enough good seats available around the lido deck to go around, so get up early and reserve your spot. Thrill Theatre was cool and fun. Did not see an Imax but they had some good movies to choose from. Jumanji and Maze Runner. Really my only complaint was the embarkment and really there wasnt much they could do. Only one gangway was working so it took too long to get the previous cruisers off and get us on. The line was long but we are pretty patient so we got there eventually. Thank you Carnival and all the Staff for a wonderful trip. Cant wait for the next one. Read Less

The Vista is a beutiful ship and has the best Cruise Director in the fleet. Matt Mitchum may also be the most handsome. There were plenty of places to eat and and the IMAX was a wonderful experience. We saw a movie that had just come out and my son and I thouroghly enjoyed ourselves. They even celebrated the military personel; past and present; with a detication to each branch. My son is in the Navy and I was extremely greatful that Carnval put as much effort into saying thank you for thier service. I will do it again but right now, I am now looking forward to the Horizon. The fun cruise line does not let you down. Getting on and off was a breeze. I also loved that the menu had some changes. There is so much to do and I am pretty sure that did not do every thing. #platinummember Read Less

We booked this cruise 2 years ago with 36 friends and family members coming along with us. I am a gold member for Carnival and this was my 5th cruise with Carnival and definitely will be my last cruise. The good points would be the staff in the dinning room and the housekeeping crew they were nice and did a great job and the food at Guys burgers and the Cantina was very good. The rest was pretty much not worth the money we paid, the food in the dinning room and buffet was horrible and even the pizza had no flavor. The ice cream was good but the strawberry tasted like frozen strawberry quick. The Serenity deck was crowded and basically there was never anywhere to sit or lay up there and the same was pretty much true for the pools. The private area " the Havana Deck" takes up way to much of the ship and takes away views from Balcony rooms and end of the ship view, who wants to walk out on their balcony and see people in the hot tub, I want to see the sunset not some guy in a speedo thanks. The sky bikes were hardly open and you have to pay extra for everything. The movies and thrill rides are extra and you even had to pay to be in the beer pong tournament seriously you pay enough for the cruise and they boast about their Imax theater and then you can only enjoy it if you pay extra. They don't have a designated night club so they are all over the ship one night in the liquid lounge one night in the lime lite theater neither which are set up well. The crew get the deck parties going then disappear so they fizzle out quickly so there isn't much nightlife unless you want to shop at their overpriced stores or lose money in the casino even the shows that the ship puts on were so bad guests walked out in the middle of the show, and when one guest asked what he would do if he won the $3,000.00 prize money for bingo he said "I would buy a ticket on Royal Caribbean" that should tell you something right there. This was our third cruise with Carnival. Normally, we are a loyal Royal Caribbean customer, but this cruise was organized by a friend and it was over New Year's Eve so thought it would be fun. Unfortunately, this was anything but a "Funship." The bar staff with the exception of two people were very unfriendly. Almost made you feel like it was an imposition to ask for a drink. The food was okay, but definitely not up to normal standards. The dining staff was very friendly and attentive. It was apparent that there has been a cutback in the number of staff, as dishes were piling up everywhere and the two formal nights were absolute chaos. Again, not the fault of the staff, but put the blame on management. The entertainment which Carnival is known for was less than enjoyable. Poor singing and an equally poor layout of the Liquid Lounge. You couldn't see the stage very well no matter where you were on the main floor or in the balcony. The Casino was unbearable to be in or even walk through. The smoke was thick. For a brand new ship to not have a better ventilation system is inexcusable. When you see young adults walking through with their shirts pulled above their noses, you know it is bad. The cabin was very nice and the Cabin Attendant was good. The embarkation process was phenomenal. Kudos in that department! Really enjoyed the piano bar and the Red Frog Brewery. Unfortunately, this will be our last Carnival cruise. Back to Royal Caribbean. We were on 8 day cruise to Amber Cove, San Juan, St. Kitts and Grand Turk. The ship decor was quite nice. We had two inside rooms on deck 9, just below the Lido deck. Rooms were decent size. The Lido restaurant was beautiful and you can tell that it is a new ship. Pro: Ship is huge, and lots of space to relax outside. Decorations are nice and has two beautiful pillars which divide the length of ship in three. They have a great hand-washing system in Lido and my teenage boys loved it. There were a lot of food options but we are vegetarians so could not tell if the food was good or not. Lunch had way more options than dinner. Sky ride and Rope course was fun. Couple of shows were nice. We enjoyed a show called "flick". We did not watch any paid movies in the inside theater but it seemed nice. My kids enjoyed watching movie outside in open which was free. Con: Our room was not really cleaned. There were hair in the drawer and an empty water bottle in a corner. Fridge was also not clean. However as soon as I pointed it out to the person who was responsible for our room - he cleaned it immediately. He always greeted me with my name and happy to give towels when needed. The food in Horizon dining was below average and dinner was almost 2 to 3 hours affair. We had "on your own" dining. Service was slow and not much option if you are vegetarian. Some days we just did not think that we have in us to wait for a long time for the food so we ate at Lido deck. The customer service people were not friendly and could not even understand the complaint about food. They told us that if there is no vegetarian choice available in Horizons - we can pay and eat at Italian restaurant. I talked to the person in charge of Horizons dining hall - (amith ??) and he tried to accommodate us. I am not a good cook and my kids said that after 8 days they were looking forward to my food (which is saying something). I met three other families who had someone vegan/vegetarian and they also had trouble for "sit-down dinner". At lunch - there was Mexican food which was pretty good. Mongolian wok (or gi gi kitchen) at lunch was barely OK as they did not have tofu for vegetarians. Sky Ride and Rope course - was fun but opened only for 3 to 5 hours every day and last two days of the ship it was closed due to winds so that was a bummer as my kids thought of going on the rope course on the sea days at the end of the trip and they missed it. they enjoyed Foosball though. Excursion Desk - The reps were not very friendly and quite slow. My son won an excursion for two people but because of the cold weather all water excursion was canceled at Grand Turk and we were only informed 40 minutes before the ship docked at Grand Turk. The bad thing was that I was at Horizons for breakfast and the announcement was not made in the restaurant so I did not know till the ship docked. Breakfast at Horizons was better than Lido for us though still slow service. The Customer service desk was really slow and mostly had long lines. The entertainment - comedy shows were just average and after three days, I did not bother going. The dance shows - some of them were good but Liquid Lounge is too small and gets full easily. They need to have three shows rather than two shows or have at least one of the shows early like 5 PM as if you are planning to go to Horizons, and it takes 3 hours in the dining hall - you are surely going to have a challenge to watch the show. I would not go on the ship for more than 4 days, if I do go on this ship again as I was not happy with "overall service". some people at the ship loved the ship but I found many families who thought that their experience (like ours) was mediocre. It may be because it was the New Year sailing and ship was completely sold out - to many people. many of us thought that it was Not worth the money. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we like to sail with carnival. it was a really fun cruise. this was our 10th cruise also was our 2nd best cruise. there was a lot of things todo for kids and adults. for the kids there was skyride, ropes course, golf, basketball, kids clubs, trivia, waterpark and etc. if you are an adult you can do those stuff to well except for kids club but they do have a casino. if you want to stay away from kids carnival has it 21 and over adult only serenity it was a nice place to relax. the entertainment on the vista was also really good. the best show had to be the lip sync battle. The food was great. we tried some of the up charge restaurants like jiji asian kitchen, cucina del capitano and the steakhouse. the food was so good and very cheap. the main dining room was also really good and so was the buffet food. I just had to say you had to wait for pizza at the pizza place. cabin was clean and had enough room to store stuff. we had cabin # 11255 best location for a cabin. Carnival has made there check in process much faster too. I do recommend this ship for first time cruisers and exciting cruisers. thats all for now Read Less

Carnival is a great value and we wanted to try the new Vista. We loved it. It was totally handicap accessible for my son who is 16. He was able to get up to the Sports and Waterpark Deck on 12 which was great. We loved all of the shows. Flick was our personal favorite. Our cruise director, Mike, is by far the best cruise director on the seas. This was our second cruise with him and he makes it so much fun. The IMAX theatre was awesome. Just wish they had more choices in the beginning of the cruise. The only bad thing about the Vista is the Liquid Lounge. The set up is terrible. There was a line each night to get in which was hard for my son in the wheelchair. I just hope on future ships, they go back to the auditorium type area so everyone has a good view. Regarding the food, we love Guys Burgers and 24 hour pizza place. The formal cruise nights had the better food. It was just average the other nights. I do not recommend the chicken at all. The Carnival chocolate melting cake is always to die for and what I look forward to every cruise. We loved the Itinerary of Grand Turk, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts, and St. Marten. It is so much prettier, green and mountainous. We went to Margaritaville in Grand Turk. We walked around and went to the Fort in San Juan. We did the Grand Tour of St. Kitts and stayed on the ship for St. Marten since we have been there before. During the cruise, I bought the Thermal Spa package which I loved. So relaxing and a little me time during the cruise. I also had a massage that was very good. The only about the massage is they push you into having something else done like facial or products. I hate that. Overall, the cruise was a huge success and I booked the Vista for next Easter too. Read Less

We flew into Ft. Lauderdale one day prior to the cruise. Stayed at Sleep Inn & Suites in Dania Beach. Pick up at airport was very quick and the driver was courteous. Very nice quiet place to stay with plenty of shopping nearby for last minute cruise needs. Breakfast was just right before we left for Miami. We have stayed several times here pre-cruise, Staff has always been very polite and helpful . We had early arrival and they had one(of 3) rooms ready so we had a place to put our luggage and change. Used QLS transport for shuttle to Miami and then back to Ft. Lauderdale after the cruise. We have used them for many years, they are an excellent service. Embarkation: We had 11AM time frame and when we arrived we went right in and had zone 2 boarding. We only waited a short time and we boarded the ship. Very quick easy process for boarding. Our luggage was in our room very quickly. Our room steward was Marco and he was unbelievable. What a great young man, he treated us like gold taking care of our every need. We had a balcony room on 9th floor and the room was very nice. We had early dinner and the staff was wonderful led by IWayan our head table waiter. The food was very good and the service excellent. We have sailed on the Breeze so the ship was pretty similar. The water park, serenity lounge etc... was very nice.. Comedy shows were great, laughed so hard at Al Romero and Lester Bibbs that my stomach hurt !! Used he Gym facilities and they were very nice. Excursions: Grand Turk: All inclusive beach break. What a great time. The bartender Joseph and DJ Clint remembered us from last year when we were there. We had a great time and they took such good care of us. excursion was well worth it. St. Maarten: Golden Eagle Sail & Snorkel. What a wonderful excursion. The Boat Captain and crew were awesome. Had a great time on this excursion. Cruise Director Mike did a great job, full of energy and always around the ship.: Only wish there were more activities on the Lido Deck on the final sea day.We laughed so hard during the hairy chest competition and the lipsync competition was awesome. 80's deck Party was awesome. Only complaint was that the underage children running the halls screaming and yelling and banging on doors until 12-1AM. We realize that this is also an issue of parents not being responsible for their children. This was an Easter cruise and will not book again during Easter break. Security was called and they did pay closer attention and called back several times to ask if we were still having problems. There should be a curfew of 11PM for children under 18. Realize they are on vacation to but when they disturb floor after floor of other cruisers it needs to be addressed. Parents who bring children need to realize that they have the responsibility for them and should not leave them to create havoc. Debarkation: We did self assist and it was so easy. This ship was very organized and again cruise director Mike deserves a gold star. We sailed on the Conquest last year and debarkation was a mess, so good job Mike !!! We booked next years cruise in June while on board (group of 9). We had a very good time but again will be cruising first week of June to hopefully avoid the issues with unsupervised children. We have cruised with our children (now adults) and we would not allow our children to do the things the kids on this cruise did. Parents do your job !! Read Less

Had a great time on the Vista, so much to do on board! Food was excellent, Cruise director "MIKE" was great! The staff treated us very well, our cabin stew Marco took great care of us! The only problem was unsupervised unruly teenagers! They roamed the halls late at night at will, banging on doors yelling, even fighting, by the time security arrived, they were gone. Maybe Carnival should consider a curfew for teens, and for those of you will say "they are on vacation also" well....their vacation is not to cause mayhem and act like idiots! Bad parenting and lack of supervision by the same parents is the big cause, but even late at night they should not be roaming the halls, I am talking midnight hours ! We were on deck 9, and the people in cabins around us also complained. My wife and I have already raised our kids, when they were teens we did take them on vacation, and they had great times, but were respectful of others and they were not allowed to run wild late at night. Not saying all the kids on the cruise were bad, they were not but there were groups and you could see them gathering at night and knew that they were up to no good, even heard them bragging about what they did and were going to do. There was a fight at the elevators on deck 9 at midnight one night. Security needs to police the cabin decks at night and a curfew needs to be in place. I am all for a good time but there are limits! I had been planning this cruise since the ship opened up for bookings. Was so excited about going on the newest and largest carnival new ship. Well after the fast and efficient loading process and entering the ship. The wow factor is for sure not in effect on the vista. The huge soaring atrium replaced with the large led light fixture was a big let down in person. i was told this was to make room for the i max. This is great however no one was ever in the imax the the entire week of our cruise. our room was 2412 a cove balcony in the new family harbor area. It was right across from the room dedicated with two game systems and breakfast items in the morning and free ice cream. This area is nice but the same food every morning. This was sort of the theme of the vista. The same every day. Despite matt the cruise director trying to whip us into a frenzy it felt so the same same every day. The lack of table clothes in the main dining room for us was a let down as well. Nothing special anymore. The food the same once again. i will say our cabin steward "darwin" did a outstanding job every day. the for lunch one day we went to the free italian place. The special was "meat lasagane.." well the meat was last nights left over prime rib. not cut up mind you. But one huge chunk of prime rib in between the noodles. This was very not good. then came the employees on the ship who all seems to feel the same as the majority of the passengers. They all hated this ship. Over and over they would complain to someone. Same number of workers and twice the number of passengers. on every night in the dining room we would have to wait almost one hour before even receiving the appetizers. i have to say i was very happy to get off this ship and will never sail with carnival again. My ten year old son did love camp ocean and the sky ride. Even though most days the ride was closed due to the high winds. Read Less

If I could give carnival vista negative stars I would. The service was terrible, the entertainment was not what you would expect, The ship is bigger only in that they have more rooms they did not increase the public areas to make room for the increased number of passengers. At times we had to clear our own table so that we would have a place to sit and eat. I bought the bottomless bubbles package which includes all the soda you want only to find out I could not get soda in any of the food areas but rather I had to go to one of their bars and wait in a typically long line to get a warm can of soda and a glass of ice. If you wanted a chair on the upper deck where you could get some sun you had to be up before the sun to get one. Usually about half the chairs had peoples stuff on them but nobody in the chair, some chairs sat that way for half a day and the staff didnt do anything about it. Carnival may be cheaper but after all the extra things you have to pay for RC is about the same price. Overall I enjoyed my cruise but no thanks to carnival, their ship or their staff. Cabin 14201 Spa cabin. This is 1 of 4 cabin on the 14th deck that face forward. This is an ocean view cabin. The room was very spacious. Come out the door and go through a door and you are at the Spa. Just to the left is a door that leads to a small balcony with sofa. Food: The buffets were just OK. Sea Food Shack: was well worth the money. You get 2-4" lobsters rolls for $12, clam strips were very good $6. Both comes with fries, Seafood platter has a variety of all the fried stuff and was very good as well. For lunch we ate at JiJi's (Asia) and Capitano's (Italian) both were very good. Guy's burgers as you all know was good. The taco's at the blue iguana are good as well. For breakfast We ate in the main dining room once and the food was very good. I ate the huevos rancheros with a fried egg on a couple of mornings from the blue iguana. There is a salsa bar with hot sauces to spice it up(which I really liked). Most mornings we ate at the buffet which has a wide variety of food. For Dinner we ate at JiJi's and at Fahrenheit 555 (steak). Both were excellent as well as the service. I rode the Skyride which gives you a different from above. The water slide with the tube is a blast. The other slide you go so fast you loose perspective of where your at. But it was fun. The Spa: I would never pay again for a Spa room. The small whirlpool was never hot just kind of Luke warm. The aerobatic sauna and turkish bath saunas were the same, never like hot. You had to stay in there 30-45 minutes to get to a sweat. Did not see the since of the infrared sauna it was always cold. Inside the steam sauna the paint was peeling off the dealing. Some of the brackets were coming out of the wall. The service as always is good. Overall we liked the ship but probably would not go on the ship again unless it repositioned to Port Canaveral. I would not go all the way to Miami for it. There was nothing special about it other than it being a new ship and we wanted to try it. Are favorite is the Dream class ship. My review will highlight various areas, and hopefully you can pick and choose the options you wish to read, or read in its entirety! It will be lengthy, but fairly detailed. Summary – For all the naysayers about Carnival, I hope you will read this. Carnival is the FUN ship, which is different than a PARTY ship. Carnival wants you to have FUN. They want you to let loose, enjoy, dance, sing, and participate in something you normally wouldn’t. They want you to forget your worries at home and take a week and LIVE. That is what I want in vacation too. I want to try things I normally wouldn’t, and do things that create new memories and new experiences. Certainly they have party ships, but they are typically the shorter trips during peak seasons. So if you have thought about Carnival, but were hesitant, give them a chance with the Vista, Breeze, Dream or Magic. I don’t believe you will be disappointed. In addition, if you are unhappy, as long as you have your passport, advise within 24 hrs, and they will get you off of the ship at the next port and refund your money. So, you have a guarantee. They guarantee you will enjoy your trip, or they refund your money. Having said all of that, overall, this was my favorite cruise to date. I loved the ship, the atmosphere, Matt the Cruise Director is phenomenal, and Cookie, his asst, is hysterical. They make everyone feel special. The food we had was likely the best of any ships we’ve sailed. Everything from the buffet, to Guy’s Burger, to Blue Iguana, to the main dining and to the Italian specialty restaurant, everything was well prepared, hot and delicious. The entertainment was very good, and we had a fantastic time. This cruise had a FB group, and I didn’t participate since I was with a group. I read some of the comments as we were onboard, and sometimes I wondered if I were on the same ship as others. I think some people go in expecting perfection, and you simply set yourself up for disappointment. GOOD POINTS on the Vista – - If you can score a Havana cabin, don’t miss out. They book up fast, and for very good reason. We booked the day the Vista sailings were released. You have your own pool, hot tubs, lounge areas, bar, etc.. It is wonderful, and you won’t need to get up early for a deck chair. For comparison, I have also been in the Haven on NCL. For the cost difference, there is simply no comparison. The only real differences are that you have a personal butler and your own private restaurant in the Haven. That was certainly a nice touch, but I don’t need a butler, and for the cost, you get far more bang for your buck on the Vista. I’m all about bang for the buck. I’m certainly glad I had the opportunity to compare both options. I would do both again at the right price. -The Vista is amazing, it offers so many activities you can’t possibly complete them in the limited time onboard. You have the skyride, ropes course, mini golf, pools, Imax, thrill theatre, hot tubs, basketball, jogging track, bowling and various entertainment venues. - Matt and Cookie are enthusiastic and keep you involved. - Enjoyable and funny shows allowing audience participation - Food was very good and well presented - The Havana. It’s a great concept and worth the extra cost. - TONS of seating areas, outdoor areas, and places to get away. This was a big hit in my book. - The ship did not feel crowded. This is my biggest complaint on most ships we have sailed. I always feel like I’m in a herd of people. I did not feel that way on this ship . DISLIKES about the Vista Liquid Lounge set up – it is too small for the size of the ship. This needs to be fixed because there are so many that want to see the shows and it’s just difficult. More room service items on the breakfast menu. Deck 5 and 10 are the best decks to get around, otherwise, you do have to take stairs on several floors due to dining room locations. The “speed bumps” that are located outside the piano bar and around the elevators are a HAZARD. Another person in our group witnessed a lady that fell and screamed in pain when she didn’t see it. PLEASE be cautious of these. According to many, if you book during PEAK times (spring break, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years), there will be TONS more people onboard because they book each room according to capacity. This can add hundreds of extra people and this will make for longer lines and less availability to use areas. This goes for any cruise line, but it seems especially true for this ship. Anytime dining – too many lines and general disarray There are times when service has been cut and it is noticeable when attempting to get a drink. It seems the service personnel don’t have much of a break. I would prefer that the good service people have some time away so they don’t burn out. These people are wonderful. PRE-HOTEL STAY We stayed at the Marriott Pulse Club in South Beach. I had never stayed in this area previously, but it was a sight to behold for people watching. In fact, the Versace family was at the restaurant the night we were there. I would highly recommend walking around the area if you have the opportunity. There are so many little ships and venues, it was incredible. We had breakfast at the restaurant to the right of the hotel (I do not recall the name) and it was amazing. It was expensive, but worth it. There was also a Walgreens in the nearby vicinity you could walk to. TRANSPORTATION We flew into Fort Lauderdale airport and took America Transportation to Miami. They also picked us up from the hotel and transported to the get the cruise port. EMBARKATION We did general boarding, and the process was smooth and the lines moved quickly. Once we made it through the line, we were ready to board, and just had to await out boarding number to be called. I had a client who was also boarding, and she misplaced her passport at some point after getting through the airport. I am now recommending that if you have a closed loop cruise to PLEASE have a copy of your birth certificate with you, or someone who can get it to you. Otherwise, time is of the essence, and if you don’t make it, you miss your cruise. We were fortunate and it all worked out. I want to give a Special thanks to Jose at Carnival for noting my client’s account and making sure to document everything I advised. It made the process so much smoother, and my client made it onboard. Also, get the Mobile Passport APP on your phone and download your passport. That way if something happens, you have a double backup. ROOM STEWARD Donna was our steward, and she was fabulous, always smiling and laughing with us. We truly enjoyed her. She did a great job of keeping everything tidy and providing cute towel animals we all love. One day she did mention she barely had enough time to get off the ship so she could just get some chips, so we brought her back some. She was so thankful. So, if you want to do something nice, ask your steward what they enjoy, and bring that to them. ANYTIME DINING This was the one big miss for me. This is the only ship they are currently using this process. If you are booked on this ship, I highly recommend a SET dining time. They have it set up so you wait in line to get a ticket to go to the dining room. Then you have to wait until they are ready for you. I understood because we were a group it would be slower, but I heard from others which were parties of 2-4 who were waiting 1-3 hrs / night between standing for the ticket and waiting for seating. That is not acceptable. FOOD/DINING Everything was well prepared, hot and very tasty. I cannot complain about the food. In addition, the coffee was very good. We noticed that the NCL coffee had a bitter taste, and this was far superior. In addition, we did the LaCuccina Italian restaurant. The food was incredibly good. All restaurants were very attentive to handling my food allergy issues also. Once you were seated in the dining areas, the service was decent. Bar service for sodas and alcohol was very slow, however, they simply don’t have enough people available to get all the orders for so many people. CABIN - HAVANA We had cabin 5239 in the Haven, which is the last cabin on the end. It is nice because you only have one neighbor to the side of you. We did not experience any issues with people walking around the area. I am unsure why so many mention that, but we certainly didn’t encounter any issues. That particular room is close to a room the stewards use, so you do hear the door opening and closing frequently. Not a huge issue, but one I thought I should mention. I liked this area of the ship, and I was concerned originally because we tend to pick cabins up on a much higher level. We were very pleased. This is a huge thumbs up in my book. Carnival got this absolutely right. I almost wish the area were a tad larger so more could experience it and it would still have plenty of room. POOLS / SERENITY DECK The aft pool is a great place to enjoy the views and the pool. The lido obviously can become very busy, but the Serenity deck on this ship is so incredibly large, it truly helps to provide a hiding spot away from the crowds. YOGURT/ICE CREAM - Available 24 hrs / day, always a nice feature. ENTERTAINMENT We attended the Welcome Aboard show and the Comedy show. I always love comedy, and the comedian did not disappoint. The Blue Velvet singing group was amazing, and there was a man who frequently sang around the Red Frog Pub and in the general atrium that was very good. I was a bit disappointed with the Piano Bar. We thoroughly enjoyed the dueling pianos on NCL, but on Carnival, the lady that was hosting seemed to talk more than sing. She must have been new to the ship, as I had heard others rave about the Piano bar. All in all, they have something for you to enjoy! CASINO We only went to the casino once, and we didn’t really notice the smoke as some people complain about. SPA We did have a couples, hot stone massage, and it was fantastic. I’ve found the spas to be hit and miss, but this one was a HIT. I was very impressed. Also, I have noticed that if we do a massage together, no one tries to sell me anything. Whereas if I go on my own, they always want to try to sell me a product. The spa was very nice, they offer the heated loungers, hot tub, steam room, Turkish bath and other options. PORTS Grand Turk, San Juan, St. Kitts, St. Maarten Grand Turk – We had a cabana with our group that we enjoyed. I always love staying at Margaritaville. We also visted Jack’s Shack and saw Topher and his friends. Service there is severely lacking, but it is a nice hang out for the day! San Juan – We briefly shopped in Old San Juan and visited the Fort within walking distance St Kitts – Rail and Sail through Carnival – HIGHLY recommend. Loved the train and the fact we could see so much of this beautiful island. One of our favorite excursions St. Maarten – Purchased a day pass at the Westin. Due to an emergency, we had to depart early, so we only took photos and then left to get to the airport. It’s a lovely resort. GUEST SERVICES We received some bad news while onboard about our elderly dog while onboard, and decided we needed to get home. Guest services was wonderful. They assisted us to get off the ship and were so kind. In order to do so, you must first show your flight departure info, or you cannot be allowed off the ship. However, they were very nice given it was a stressful situation while attending to everything in such a short time span. DELTA For any of you who travel, I have the Delta Amex, and I use it for my business. I had recently received a bonus mile promotion, and fortunately, all of my points paid for our return trip from St. Maarten to Indianapolis. The reservation desk was amazing, and once I told her what had transpired with regard to our dog, she found me the mileage tickets. I was willing to pay the cost given the situation, but she completely went above and beyond, and I am forever grateful. I always complain about airlines, but for once, they did the right thing, and I am so appreciative. So for those of you who travel or have a business, or use their card and pay it off, this is a GREAT card to have, and it paid off for me on this trip. It would have cost us $1357 otherwise. BTW, our doggie seems to be better since we returned, I think he just missed us.  And on that note, thank you for reading, let me know if any questions. Read Less

20th Carnival cruise, mostly all good, but cabin location under galley was not best for light-sleeper. Should not need medication to help sleep, but that is what I had to do- kids slept fine and husband managed without sleeping pills, although he commented nightly on the noise from above. We flew into and stayed in FLL and took SAS to the port the next day, Ordered Chinese delivery which was very good. Holiday Inn Dania pre-stay one night was fine, beds comfy and quiet by airport with free airport shuttle. SAS called pre-arrival and drive was fine to port. Embarkation was smooth, Sail and Sign key cards were picked up outside cabin door. Family Harbor Cove Balcony Suite 2425 was gorgeous with long balcony and only 1/2 obstructed view (no lifeboat over second half), but noisy as mentioned every night. 2nd bathroom with tub and sink was useful. Closet design not our favorite at first, but we learned to take turns to access the back wall hanging area and shelves- only one person can get to this area at a time. We don't gamble or buy the alcohol program. Loved the Waterworks and Sportsquare area for both adults and children. Saw the Rockstar show one night and one adult comedy show which were both great. Both times ordered drinks and service was quick and friendly. Loved the new atrium hologram and the entertainment there; also enjoyed the Ocean Plaza area and band, Red Frog Pub area, and deck 5 walking area with BBQ (we ate there once on embarkation, heard it was very busy the rest of the week). We do use the Cloud 9 spas on all the Carnival ships, and enjoyed this area every day for about 2 hours each time. We purchased the weekly pass on embarkation; the Vista design was fine with us, we used every part of the spa- I love the lavender scrub in the steam rooms, and we both loved the hot sauna, the infrared room, and the heated tile benches. There is a hot tub next to the benches so, depending on the crowd, there can be conversation going on in the room which on other ships is usually a quiet area. It didn't bother us if people talked in the hot tub, but on one occasion there was a very intoxicated man drinking and he was very loud. Staff should be sure there is no alcohol being drunk in this area due to the safety issue with extreme heat being used. We were waitlisted for the Chef Table, a galley tour and multi-course (sample-type) dinner that must be pre-ordered, and were approved a couple days before our assigned night. Enjoyed meeting Chef Deepak again (last met on the Breeze in 16) and his crew. New menu was amazing, dedicated Chef Table room was nice, and enjoyed meeting the table mates near us. We did notice that the galley tour was shorter, but we still enjoyed that part of the experience. Still includes a fun magic presentation by an onboard magician and group photo. Must-do for any chefs or foodies out there that like to try new things. We also went to Bonsai Sushi one night for dinner, always amazing and no different on this ship, and to the 555 Steakhouse for my husband's birthday. The steakhouse started out great with a complimentary lobster BLT app. Our order was not correct though, but our server offered to correct it immediately. We opted to keep the entrees we had; hubby was surprised with a birthday treat and staff sang Happy Birthday. We also were given a glass of champagne for the celebration. Overall it was up there with the Chef Table for best night out. We enjoyed Lido activities, especially the Hairy Chest competition which is silly fun where most everyone should be able to chuckle;) Serenity, the adult area, looked nice with the salad bar, but we only walked through once since we had children on board to monitor. The Havana area was nice, but we did not use it after 7 since it was already past sunset when we were allowed access (nice area for those booked in Havana Cabins). We used Your Time Dining, which was excellent. The hostess, Andrea, was always smiling and had something nice to say. Our various servers were amazing, but especially David from St. Vincent, as we created some musical chairs with two tables, 3 adults, and 5 children between two family groups. Food was served within a reasonable time and was delicious, no complaints from anyone in our group. Sea Day Brunch was excellent. Debarkation was one of the best we have ever experienced. Only issue we had was SAS dropping us at the wrong airport Hotel for our one night post-stay. The Hampton Airport North sent their shuttle over to get us and they are excellently located near Slackers Sports Bar, McDonalds, Wendy's, and other businesses. Slept great after watching some football in the hotel lounge. Pool area was nice to catch some final rays during the day. Can't recommend Doughboys Italian food; the Calzone we had was subpar, almost no meat and full of ricotta, not that good, ymmv. Free airport shuttle and no issues at FLL; pretty fast TSA check and one gate change with Jet Blue. First time using Jet Blue, will use again. Prepay for bags, save $. I will write our cabin review below. The Family Harbor Lounge was great! Read Less

Ship design is just ok, not wow by any means. Atrium is smaller, rooms are def smaller. Layout is a little confusing because of the Imax I think. Sky ride was cool but wait was 90 minutes to 2 hours. They could have used a couple more bikes up there to speed it along, plus was closed on last sea day so only 3 of us in a group of 25 were able to do it. My biggest disappointment was the customer service, which we feel has been continually declining. They kept calling this their Flag Ship but you wouldn't know it by the service. Not the friendly out going staff of cruises past. The dining room is really declining. Food quality was horrible, grizzly tough meat, mushy lobster, etc. The wait staff didn't check back once food was dropped and dinner service took forever. Both times we went the lights came on before we were done eating We only went to main dining room 2 nights and then gave up. Also all the restaurants kept the same hours as smaller ships even though this had an extra 1000 capacity, so getting food without long lines was difficult. I will never understand why the only thing to eat between 3 and 5 is pizza. When everyone comes in from port and wants to eat, very little options. And again, if you have a thousand person more capacity, you should provide for that. Even the Seafood shack which was a pay restaurant took forever, 40 minutes for fish and chips and lobster. Embarkation was a bit different, keys were in the mailbox, but we were super confused on how it worked and no one explained anything. Disembarkation was a Hot Mess, they were letting the people without luggage go at the same time that the walk offs were going and as per usual, when the cruise is over, you are a second class citizen! Def wouldn't sail this ship again! Read Less

We have been on many Carnival Cruises and love their boats and service. That being said this is the worst cruise we had ever been on. It was like they cut down on everything to save money. The AC on the boat hardly worked especially in our room. The food was poor and they closed the buffet often even when there were lines. They made a larger boat just to add more people. They didn't account for the addition of people in any other area...They did not add any additional hot tubs and pools for people to be able to use and most of the time they were packed with unsupervised kids. We traveled with our kids (13 and 4) and they loved the camps and my oldest loved the ropes and bike but you stood in line for 2 hours to go on them. They added a ton of things you have to pay extra for after already paying a ton to go on the cruise. They didn't have enough bartenders or servers so you waited an average of 15 minutes at a bar for a drink and even longer in the dining room for a glass of wine... Our waitstaff were not personable at all until the last couple days because they were so busy they couldn't even find out our names... We of course loved the comedy club but they cut down on the shows so unless you were in line an hour before it started you didn't get a seat. The stage shows were great but the stage seating was set up so awful. There are literally 100 seats you can sit in and not see a single part of the show. You would see everyone sitting down and then moving seats to try to find one they could see from. Definitely would not be a boat we would go on again. The wait staff were so overworked they were not friendly and the boat is brand new and looks so dirty. There would be spilled food on the stairs that would be there all day long... Read Less
