I am Platinum cruisers and this ship was horrible. The cabin was smaller with less closets and more people on ship for same events and smaller seating space. No real dance club they have to change comedy club into dance club so if late shows oh well no dance club. I did like the theater but not worth losing all the other luxuries for that . Never again....they only added more cabins and no more space for people in events . The set up for the showroom was smaller than all based on the amount of people on ship. The restaurant was all the same no extra with double the people so lined where long . So in the end the greed if there money to get more people on the ship it took away from everything else and longer wait times for us and no seating anywhere to accommodate the amount if people. We have about 25 cruises under our belt, mostly on RCCL and Celebrity. We have sailed on Carnival twice previously and as we enjoy the new ships decided to book a B2B on the Vista. We sailed April 21 and April 29. I am going to highlight just a few of the issues we found with this ship. There was absolutely NO emphasis on hand washing. Very strange considering Carnival's past problems in this area. The hand washing stations seemed to be tucked away and I saw very few people using them. There was no ventilation in the casino and the smoke was horrible. It actually saved me money! The lines at the buffet were very, very long due to the arrangement of the food. When I mentioned to people that I never had to wait on other cruise lines they were amazed. If you sail only on Carnival and have never had an issue I'm happy for you. But you have no basis for comparison. We cannot wait to return to RCCL and Celebrity. The chairs in the center section of the comedy club are an accident waiting to happen. We had lunch in the specialty Italian restaurant which is directly below the basketball court. Seriously! We could hardly carry a conversation. I don't usually complain this much but i don't normally sail Carnival. Read Less

If I could give carnival vista negative stars I would. The service was terrible, the entertainment was not what you would expect, The ship is bigger only in that they have more rooms they did not increase the public areas to make room for the increased number of passengers. At times we had to clear our own table so that we would have a place to sit and eat. I bought the bottomless bubbles package which includes all the soda you want only to find out I could not get soda in any of the food areas but rather I had to go to one of their bars and wait in a typically long line to get a warm can of soda and a glass of ice. If you wanted a chair on the upper deck where you could get some sun you had to be up before the sun to get one. Usually about half the chairs had peoples stuff on them but nobody in the chair, some chairs sat that way for half a day and the staff didnt do anything about it. Carnival may be cheaper but after all the extra things you have to pay for RC is about the same price. Overall I enjoyed my cruise but no thanks to carnival, their ship or their staff. Do NOT CRUISE WITH CARNIVAL!!!!!!!!!! Read Less

I had been planning this cruise since the ship opened up for bookings. Was so excited about going on the newest and largest carnival new ship. Well after the fast and efficient loading process and entering the ship. The wow factor is for sure not in effect on the vista. The huge soaring atrium replaced with the large led light fixture was a big let down in person. i was told this was to make room for the i max. This is great however no one was ever in the imax the the entire week of our cruise. our room was 2412 a cove balcony in the new family harbor area. It was right across from the room dedicated with two game systems and breakfast items in the morning and free ice cream. This area is nice but the same food every morning. This was sort of the theme of the vista. The same every day. Despite matt the cruise director trying to whip us into a frenzy it felt so the same same every day. The lack of table clothes in the main dining room for us was a let down as well. Nothing special anymore. The food the same once again. i will say our cabin steward "darwin" did a outstanding job every day. the for lunch one day we went to the free italian place. The special was "meat lasagane.." well the meat was last nights left over prime rib. not cut up mind you. But one huge chunk of prime rib in between the noodles. This was very not good. then came the employees on the ship who all seems to feel the same as the majority of the passengers. They all hated this ship. Over and over they would complain to someone. Same number of workers and twice the number of passengers. on every night in the dining room we would have to wait almost one hour before even receiving the appetizers. i have to say i was very happy to get off this ship and will never sail with carnival again. My ten year old son did love camp ocean and the sky ride. Even though most days the ride was closed due to the high winds. Read Less

Very unsatisfied with this cruise. As a frequent cruiser, and more specifically Carnival brand, this Cruise was far below expectations. As a part of the gold VIFP club, traveling on 7 Carnival ships in the past, this will be my last without a doubt. By far the worst part of this cruise was the other passengers. Not only were they mostly children, but they were RUDE. I have never met a grouping of so many people with so little manners. I guess it makes sense though because the adults on board were just a bad. People would bump into you, push you out of their way, not say excuse me. I watched several people (both adults and children) use the public restrooms and leave without washing their hands. I heard people puking their guts out in the bathroom next to the pool, and then watched said person jump into the beach pool like any other ordinary day. Then there was dinner in the main dining room. We had the anytime dining. What a NIGHTMARE. I will admit, it was not as bad the last few nights, but the first 4-5 nights on board, we had to stand in line for 15 minutes, and it was HOT. Either there was no A/c, or the heat from the "pixels" gallery radiated the entire hallway. Once checked in, we had to proceed to deck 3 or 4, from 5, turn in our ticket and then we could be sat. Granted it was a new ship, and new crew, but we were showing the table presenters where our table was before they walked us around the dinning room 3 times. And then back to the other people... From what I understand from past cruises, there is a dining room dress code? NOT ANYMORE. Guests were eating dinner in baseball caps, shorts, sandals, sleeveless shirts, pants with holes in them. etc. I wish I could say this was just on "cruise casual" nights, but nope. Guests were actually wearing jeans, t-shirts, and sneakers on "CRUISE ELEGANT" this really set me off. The Dining room staff were very friendly and polite and the food was alright. Although we had anytime dinning, we requested the same servers, Jessen and Adrijan. They were the only reasons I went to eat in the dinning room for dinner, instead of the other options. If the wait staff can wear a vest a tie to serve you, the people under dressed should have been denied entry for dinner. Our cabin was great! our steward, Leonard, was VERY friendly and polite. However, we had a Spa Balcony, and you guessed it. More problems! When booked in a Spa Balcony, we were supposed to have exclusive access to the Thermal Suites (steam rooms, dry rooms, and whirlpool tub in the spa.) However, since carnival stands to make money wherever they can, they sell "spa day passes" WHAT A JOKE. we paid extra for the cabin, to use the thermal suites, and because the spa sold what seems like an endless amount of day passes, there was almost no way to have a relaxing, enjoyable experience in the spa. The amount of people they let in is just short of ridiculous. And even without the spa pass, people can mosey their way into the thermal suites. It is true the door locks and you swipe your sail and sign card for entry, but it stays open for about 10-15 seconds and anyone can just walk right in! there is no one that asks to see the wristband or day pass. On more than one occasion, the Whirlpool (that fits 10 people or so) was filled to capacity, and none of the occupants had any type of wristband. The bars! We had the CHEERS package. It would have been great if we could actually get a beverage when we wanted. The bars were packed, and the bartenders could not have been moving any slower. For the amount of people sitting in front of them, they lacked an incredible sense of urgency. It took almost 20 minutes to get waited on and served our beverages. Even a soda. If there was more than one person sitting at the bar, the bartender would take one persons drink, not even acknowledge any other occupant at the bar, proceed to make the first beverage and cash them out, then move onto the other guests. you could be sitting there for 10 minutes without a "hello! I will be with you shortly." This was mostly prevalent at the Red Frog bar on the Lido Deck by the beach pool. On port days, I attempted to get a bottle of water from the casino bar, and atrium bar before I left for the ports. They refused service because "we don't start serving until 9 and 11" (9 for casino, 11 for atrium.) Talk about bogus. I can understand not serving alcohol until a certain time, but they should encourage people to drink water. There was only a few times I was impressed with the bar service, and that was from Jaya, at the Blue Iguana. He was very friendly and polite, and it felt like he was the only one that actually enjoyed working there. Compared to the rest of my experiences with the bartenders, his attitude was phenomenal. The food was good, the dining room was a fine dining experience, and presented well. The desserts were sub par. and lacked a few of the traditional options I would have expected (cherries jubilee baked alaska.) they did have the carnival melting cake every night. Oh boy. I did not get a chance to try the pizza in the tides pool area. the line wrapped around the deck, mostly at night (because it is the only food option other than room service) however even in the day it could take 20 minutes or more standing in line for a slice of pizza. The Lido buffet was just as bad. We ate the buffet for breakfast only once. but the lines were "out the door" as with for lunch, with 4 different lines, it took almost a half an hour before we even got to the food. From what I remember in the past, the Lido buffet desserts were garbage this time around. there were less variety, and they did not taste like I remember. We ordered Room service a few times, it was delivered in a timely manner, and the food was good. It was mostly sandwiches and salads. We ordered buffalo wings for $5 extra. Not worth it. There were 8 wings, and they tasted alright. but they definitely were not buffalo. The Javablue cafe was nice, however the location was terrible. It was in the back of the ship on deck 5, between a bar, the ocean plaza, and pixels gallery. A better place would have been in the atrium, or around it, or even the Lido deck. The Coffee was good, the ingredients tasted fresh, and "java joe" had a great attitude. All in all, We made the most of our vacation. However all things considered, If given the opportunity, I would not travel carnival again. It is unfortunate that being a dedicated past member this is the carnival cruise that will stand out the most, for all the wrong reasons. If you buy the lowest price, you're going to be disappointed..... There is definitely a lack of communication aboard the ship. It operates under extreme confusion. I'll never take another one with this cruise line again. Day 1 was so confusing. We went to orientation and was asked if we had special needs. It's best not to say yes because you will be told to leave the orientation about 5 minutes early. After you get up and are at the door, you'll be called out by the cruise director and told you can't leave. When you ask another crew member why they had you get up in the 1st place, they will tell you to leave. That's just the beginning of one of the most confusing cruises I've ever taken. Also if you need a cane you'll be told there's a 50.00 Fee associated with it for cane rental. Well that's completely FALSE. There is no charge... Just a 40.00 deposit. If you smoke cigars the booking agent will flat out LIE to you and share there's 3 cigar bars on board and there's not even 1. Also the internet you have to pay 30.00 to use will malfunction. This is all in the 1st day...Day's 2 - 5 were just as sad but I think you'll get the picture. Also you may just get stranded on an island somewhere because the printed material doesn't match the real time for embarkation and debarkation. We barely boarded the ship in Puerto Rico and Carnival left 4 people stranded and they had more than enough time to let them board. The people were right at the embarkation gate and the crew pulled up the ramp without letting them walk 100 feet. I don't know if they were related or not but I do know they weren't back on the ship. And I told security but they could care less. They acted as if I was talking to a brick wall. I do hope that family is reading my review and asks me to testify for them when they sue for damages. The Theater too small and you could not see parts of the show as it was not on the stage unless you were in the front row of the balcony!!!!!!!!!!! for the most part the food was poor and cold, we never saw the mater d in the main dinning room to inquire if we liked the food! the bathrooms were hard to find, the specialty restaurants were located under a basketball court!!! and the list go on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Steak house restaurant hostess rude!!!!!! Casino bartenders rude! Getting on the ship was ok as we priority boarding, but getting off was a mess, they could care less about you and it was a mess and a long wait for your luggage to be unloaded from the ship!!!!!!!!!!!!! This cruise was booked over a year before the cruise. We ordered bottles of Scotch and Gin prior to the cruise. The Scotch was never delivered nor was the cost credited to our account until I complained - was told they had discontinued that particular scotch and that we had been credited - no we were not. The ship is crowed beyond belief. The Dining Room was more like a New Jersey Diner than a restaurant. The Theater was awful - too small and noisy (bar in the back and doors open to the atrium). Ours was an 11 night cruise and we had just one show (Cuban theme) that was even close to good. The ship is poorly designed and the public spaces are too small. All they did was squeeze in more rooms at the expense of gathering spaces. Guy's Burgers was the best highlight of the food service. I will never again cruise on this size ship - very poor cruise.
