I chose this cruise because of the ports of call and to experience Carnival's newest ship. The ship is beautiful and the balcony cabins roomy and tastefully decorated. The food in the dining room was excellent as was the fare in the specialty restaurants. Not so much on the Lido deck. There were plenty of outdoor activities especially around the pool. I was particularly impressed with the sngers and dancers who offered three beautiful and rousing performances - for those few who could see them This enormous ship carrying 4000 persons has the smallest and most awkwardly designed theater of any cruise ship I've sailed on. No raised seating in back area; moveable chairs that can be crammed inches from the one in front; no tables for beverages. Very difficulot to see over the persons in front of you. I was impressed with the staff, the cleanliness and decor. The Guest Services desk was particularly helpful. The spa is beautiful. Enjoyed the cruise and would certainly sail on the Vista again. I choose this cruise because it was advertised as a new ship. I hardly think so, maybe new to Carnival but not a new ship. The boarding was horrible- we had to wait in a long line wrapped around the building to gain access. It was warm and not accomodating. The room was small than what I thought, the balcony I paid extra for had a small door to the balcony. We could not leave the door open at night, it would slam shut!!!! Why have a balcony that I paid extra for?? There was little space to unpack our clothes. The food was just mediocre at best. The best food on the ship was Guy Fieri's barbeque!!!! The bathrooms on the ship were few and far between an d hard to find. Like they were hidden. They often were not very clean and maintained. The staff was not friendly and often told us they were understaffed and you could tell by their behaviours. We bought the drink package and it took a half hour or more to get a drink in the casino. Unacceptable - seeing that is what we paid for. We dining rooms were under staffed and often the soft serve ice cream machines had no cones in the dispensers!!!!! I spoke to many many people on the cruise and there were so many people that had the same complaints as us - so it just wasnt us!!!!! I have been on 4 cruises - I thought I would give Carnival a try - I am sorry to say - I will never be back. I will go back to Celebrity where we are treated well. When I complained to guest services - all they could say was - sorry!!!!!! I will tell everyone I know - DO NOT CRUISE WITH CARNIVAL - save your money for a great experience on another line. My wife and I just finished a great eight night cruise on Carnival Vista and we had a great time. We have cruised over 20 times and this is one of the best cruise experience we have had. The ship is beautiful and the staff is great and always willing to assistance. The cruise director Matt and his staff are top notch. The Sky Ride is something to be experienced and fun to ride around the ship. We really loved the seafood shack and enjoyed great, fresh lobster rolls. You have to pay for this, but the price is not too bad and well worth trying one time. Guys Burger Bar is great with great burgers. We love having a hot burger there and the fries are the best. Of course being able to get fresh pizza any time of the day is great. You might have to wait a few minutes, but the pizza's are hot and great. The only thing is the main theatre (Liquid Lounge) is just a bit too small to accommodate all who wanted to see the shows. Read Less

This was my 10th cruise, 8th with Carnival. Deck one, interior. Our routine is a few days of relaxation on the Serenity deck, viewing the main pool games/contests, comedy shows nightly, followed by casino and dancing. Listing our disappointments with suggestions for Carnival as you can't fix what you don't know about. SERENITY deck (designed to allow adults only to relax)- Bigger than other ships but not big enough for the number of passengers on Vista. Hard to find a seat. Had to sit at a table instead of resting in a lounge. Two hot tubs at capacity. Constant screaming children sounds from nearby slide area. Not relaxing. MAIN POOL- Too small! Was shocked that there were such small pools for the amount of people. Design fail. Three sea days and jumped into pool only once to cool off. Small size of pools taken up by kids. Games/contests were great. CD Matt, Cookie and Nono did a great job with the games. We returned early from port to get a good seat for the scheduled sail away party from Puerto Rico. No party. No explanation. Wasted our time. Overheard arguments and frustration from passengers about saved, empty chairs, not enough chairs, waiters stating certain drinks couldn't be bought from pool bars when the passenger bought that drink earlier. COMEDY club- Ridiculous waiting in long line. 30+ minutes. First visit, room was empty. I suggest allowing people in and beginning drink service. Host, Fluffy, would state that she called for additional wait staff. Served one drink out of three nights. Was told we had to leave after show to line up for next show. By the time we returned, it was standing room only. Wasted time in line. Frustration. Second visit, waited in same long line. Doors open to line, room is immediately almost full. Earlier audience was allowed to stay in room. Inconsistent fairness to guests. Got a seat along back wall. Couldn't see comic due to one of many large columns blocking view. Third visit. Yes, same long, frustrating line. Had a seat. Now view was blocked from two rows of standing guests. NIGHT CLUB- Multi-purpose room on Vista. Some nights used for shows. There were dance parties held on Lido deck and Havana area on these alternate use nights. Although it was nice to watch kids dance at deck party and adults and kids dance at Havana bar, it wasn't the dancing atmosphere I wanted and expected for my vacation. Went in one night and was told it was a private party. We didn't go to any musical shows. Quest show was hilarious. HOT TUBS- 6 Two at tide pool. Constantly filled with kids. Two in serenity. Two in private Havana area. Another passenger said they thought we could use Havana tubs but each time we went, a sign stated you needed bracelets to enter area. Suggestion- install more hot tubs on future ships. ANYTIME DINING- we weren't given a choice for dining when we booked in August. You go to deck five to check in, 15 minutes prior to desired seating. Seated 45 minutes later. Suggestion- Don't specifically advertise a 15 minute wait. CABIN- We prefer lower deck so no noise can be heard from above. Comfortable bed. 3 drawers, one closet. SERVICE- Wondering if staff is having to endure upset guests and are fed up. Not the usual friendly vibe from bartenders and wait staff. OVERALL- Would suggest the ship to families as there was a lot for kids to do, with a side note to prepare to wait for everything. Would not suggest to couples wanting the same things I listed at start of this review. I felt badly at the thought of people who saved all year for their one week vacation, only to be left frustrated. Most people we spoke to would not suggest this ship, nor return to it. Read Less

Well first the pros: Embarkation and Disembarkation was excellent. We were on and off the ship with little delay. The use of technology to move people was amazing. The stateroom was clean and the staff excellent. We loved the variety of live music around the various venues. The comedy club was especially a great venue for both show type, PG and adult. Fluffy the club manager was excellent. The Cruise Director, Matt was a instant star during the whole trip. Obviously well chosen for his energy. Speciality restaurants were excellent especially the Suzi restaurant. Well worth the extra money. Now the cons: Line ups and wait times for everything was horrible. Just too many people looking to do the same activities and eat at the same time. Food in the restaurants was average in quality. One major complaint. If you are going to serve cold soups then keep them cold. In general I felt I was being retailed to death and frankly the costs of drinks and retail items were very expensive. Read Less

Went on the Vista to see the new ship and came away disappointed. Embarkation in Miami was horrible taking two and one half hours. Everything seemed to run late including the safety drill, leaving ports, and some of the entertainment. My time dining was run very poorly, first you have to go upstairs to the checkin desk, then back down to the restaurant and wait 15 minutes more, and the service was the worst on any cruise we have been on, in fact we stopped going to the dining room and went to the marketplace instead. So many people came to dinner with shorts, tank tops, and baseball hats, even on formal night that it took away from the atmosphere, if they are going to have dress rules they should enforce them. The cruise director, Matt, was fantastic and the military appreciation event was very special. The ship is beautiful but there seemed to be a lot of trash left unattended and they did not clean the tables in the marketplace very quickly. The theater is laid out with moveable chairs so there was no really good seats and it is rather small for such a large ship. The ship has most of the amenities as those on the Breeze, which we loved, but because it is a larger ship the venues are inadequate to take care of the increased number of passengers, so we faced long lines wherever we went. Our stateroom attendant was great but much of the other service was poor to average at best. The ship is beautiful with great amenities so if the service gets better in may be a great ship. Read Less

Where do I begin. I sat out on Lido deck two afternoons and on neither afternoon did any servers ever approach to see if I needed a drink. if you needed a drink, you went to the bar yourself. Since that was the case for everyone, the bars were very busy with long waits to get drinks. Two separate times at dinner we ordered drinks we never received. Two different times we were at FredFrog Pub for a trivia contest. The bar was too busy so we waited at tables for someone to wait on us and after 20 minutes (each time - went through entire trivia event), no one ever did. Lines to get food, or do any activity was always AT LEAST 30 minutes long (many times, longer). We went to comedy one night. Got there early to get good seats. Watched the 7:30 and 8:30 PG-Rated shows and was told if we wanted to watch the R-rated shows, we had to leave and get in line. By that time, the line was all the way down the hall and there was no way we would get good seats (or any seats at all). I felt that was very unfair. So the only way I could've gotten good seats for the R-rated show was to leave the 8:30 show I was watching early. They should do reservations. On 3 separate occasions before the cruise ever took place, I tried making reservations for the Steakhouse and never ever received an email confirmation. By the time I got on the ship, they were booked. the one thing I will say was positive was our room steward. That service was superb (though we did get the same towel animals 2 nights in a row). I am platinum with Carnival and understand issues happen on cruises and have always loved Carnival but WILL NEVER GO ON THEIR BIG SHIPS AGAIN- HORIZON WILL BE JUST AS AWFUL AS VISTA SINCE IT IS IDENTICAL. I recently took to Twitter to share my poor experience with what I felt was a lack of staffing on board for food, drinks and some entertainment onboard the Carnival Vista due to the extremely long lines. The lines for taco’s took 45 minutes and no, I was not in the burrito line which would have been even longer. Guy’s hamburgers had over 1 hour wait and the buffet lines were 30 minutes and the air conditioning in those areas of the buffet were awful since Vista would not close the doors from the decks like they do on ALL their other ships. Since I was traveling with a child who just turned 4 years old, we use buffets since he clearly doesn’t enjoy sitting and waiting for food. Clearly, sitting and waiting to be served would have been better than trying to keep him in line. It was obvious there are staffing issues when tables aren’t cleaned in these areas and workers are trying to keep up with adding food to the buffets and can't. They didn't have enough workers making taco’s, sandwiches, etc. We tried the Italian area for lunch and were told to fill out a form, sit and wait. The same poor process was for the Mongolian grill. On all other Carnival ships, the lines move well since it is a stand, grab and move along to a clean table. This ship doesn’t follow efficiency but rather lazy, inefficient processes that double or even triple ones times. I feel the main goal was not feeding me as a guest but leading me to the pay areas for food that had NO lines and no one there. I ate at 3 of those places and they were very good but why shouldn’t wouldn't Carnival staff their free areas the same? Clearly the model is to move guests to pay. There are TOO many guests and not enough workers. It was also very disappointing to know sit down breakfast closed early 1 day and the other sea day no brunch was offered and all other ships brunch is offered on ALL sea days. They day breakfast closed early they said the workers needed a break. Not just food lines were awful but lines to do anything such as see a comedy show where the line went past the casino. In the casino you couldn’t even order a drink and hope to have it in under 30 minutes. One ordered and I gave up on one after 45 minutes. Clearly again as you can see there is a pattern where you have more guests on Vista and not enough staff. I discussed this briefly with Guest Relations at the desk when there for another reason and they said we focus on being a nice hotel? What? I thought that was odd and clearly they knew they were understaffed and couldn’t share that and blew me off. The ONLY positive on this trip was the kid's club as on all the ships was amazing. However, my child was hungry due to the waits of buffet lines. Also, I probably would have given Carnival more money in the Casino if you would have had proper bar service. We left to go drink in our room and watch a free movie and pick up our child from night owls regularly since we couldn't order drinks. I wrote to Carnival and they said sorry. I replied to their sorry and received no response. They didn't respond on Twitter. Many, many reviews on all sites show how understaffed this ship is. Only go on this ship if you want to wait in line for everything. If you don't want to wait in line, go on the other ships. Read Less

We stayed in the family harbor cabin which had 2 showers and access to a private lounge for family harbor guests. While the family harbor lounge could be nice, the ship did not have anywhere to place dirty dishes - so it was always a mess. Our cruise nightmare began when we had to wait three hours to embark on the ship when we arrived at our scheduled time. Apparently, Carnival was late arriving to port in Miami which began the spiral effect of waiting line hell - e.g. in the heat the cruise ship even ran out of water to give people sweating in line and the bathrooms had no toilet paper. Carnival tried to make up time to reach ports which created a high degree of motion on the ship - many passengers were sick or unable to sleep due to the extreme rocking motion. Next, we were told that the ship was unable to dock in Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos due to the weather. Carnival did not find an alternative port or try to compensate guests in any way - e.g. at least a free drink for each passenger for the inconvenience. Carnival customer service people need training in service recovery as they continued to quote Carnival terms and conditions stating that they did not need to do anything for passengers if the itinerary changed due to weather. However, guests that had been up for hours stated that Carnival did not try to dock at all. The food in the dining room was horrible and the service was so slow - the lobster on "formal" night was like rubber. Do not expect late night buffets or special food during your cruise on the Vista. At night, your only option outside of the dining room hours is 24 hour pizza. Unless you budget to eat at the specialty restaurants every night, you will have bad food. The room service options are also extremely limited on this cruise - so that does not become an option after a bad meal. The cruise director is great and does try to make the ship fun - but he does not have a lot to work with as the quality of the shows is pretty low. To compensate, he tries to make the shows more interactive by ending as a dance party in the Liquid Lounge. The other theme for this cruise is everything is an extra charge - from poolside fast serve restaurants (e.g. seafood shack) to the theaters. When you add up all the extra charges coupled with poor service and food, you will be much better off booking on another cruise line. Read Less

I booked this cruise because Vista was new to the US. Ship is new, huge, and exciting. Loved the SkyRide, the new interactive TV's with account info so you don't need Kiosks or Guest Services. Breakfasts in dining room awesome. Same for Guy Fieri Burger Bar and his BBQ place, although it is only open on sea days. The new Italian place for lunch was interesting. Dinner in dining room was super for appetizers, starters, and desserts but entrees were somewhat lacking in quality. Biggest disappointment was later in evening because the pizza place was only place open (no midnight buffet or food). The lines were horrendous! Embarkation was a disaster and we got started so late we never got to stop at Grand Turk. I am a very experienced cruiser and overall was happy with cruise. Taking same ship again in March. Hope they correct the embarkation issue and the dining at night. Casino by the way has new machines for most part and was lots of fun. Entertainment crew (led by Matt) was awesome. Loved the trivia in afternoons. Great room steward. Nice dining room crew also. Read Less

So there was suppose to be check in times, Carnival sent an email pushing back our check in time by an hour. However, when we arrived, we all just checked with no matter to the time. It went quickly though. The check in procedure was pretty standard. The safety meeting was better than RC as it was inside in an air conditioned room. The cabin was nice with an half bath and a full bath. There was plenty of entertainment activities. A lot of restaurant and bar choices. Service was pretty decent. No one was overly friendly and I only had two rude experiences with staff. We missed our port to grand Turk but was refunded our port charges. One thing I noticed was that there were no staff in the on the decks or the buffet offering drinks or willing to get you drinks from the bar. The speciality restaurants were only oppened from 12-2:30. the steakhouse restaurant was booked for the entire cruise. Overall, service was great and there were a lot of things to keep you entertained. I also didn't like the layout of this ship. It seemed really congested. Staff was very accommodating towards seniors and he disabled. Read Less

Carnival Vista Review I was on the repositioning cruise on the Carnival Vista from 11/16 to 11/27 I know many are curious about the ship so I wanted to put out a detailed review that I would have liked to have known about before I sailed. I hope this information is helpful! Good stuff: 1. The ship is beautiful the color scheme is one of the nicest I have been on. 2. Family harbor area is awesome 3. They have updated the TV to flat screens and have movie options on demand that are both pay and free. They even have your name on the screen welcoming you to the port of call for that day. 4. The camp ocean facilities and staff are outstanding 5. The comedy club is large and you could generally get a seat for most sessions 6. The guest services staff are top notch went out of their way to help us 7. The ship never felt crowded even though there were 4,000 people on board 8. Seeing an IMAX movie on a see day was great and the concession prices were very reasonable as well as the price for the IMAX tickets 9. Behind the scenes tour was a ton of fun on a sea day! 10. The bike attraction is a must experience! 11. Short lines for Deli and omelets 12. Fast debarkation process Bad stuff: 1. This was the worst dining, bar, and stateroom service I have ever had on any of my carnival cruises. 2. The liquid lounge is way to small you had to get in line 1 hour before the show to get a seat not behind a pole. 3. Only 2 current Imax movie choices for an 11 day cruise repeated over and over. 4. Mongolian Wok is no longer walk up you have to order like a restaurant now and wait in line took 90 minutes. 5. Seafood shack was reasonably priced but food was very poor quality 6. Very disorganized embarkation they did not enforce check in times check in process was very long (hopefully they fix that before horizon makes that her home) We had early dining and were there in line at 6pm every evening and it we were never done dining before 8 and many nights they were kicking us out trying to get ready for late seating at 8:30. This was a common complaint on this ship there was only 1 server and an assistant spread out over many tables. On past ships we have had a head waiter, assistant, and bread person generally dining can be as quick as 45 minutes but no longer than 90. This caused us to miss the dive in movies, and the show many times on the cruise. We go so frustrated we began eating at the pay restaurant spots and Lido deck to avoid the dining room. They didn’t even offer real pumpkin pie on thanksgiving such a disappointment. Generally on a carnival ship you have bar servers everywhere soliciting for drink orders. On this 11 day sailing I had bar service less than ½ dozen times. I would have to go to the bar and wait in line 30 minutes to get drinks. Hopefully they can get the service figured out and maybe we just got unlucky but it did put a damper on the vacation. Anything you want to know just ask! Read Less

We chose this date to be part of the USA inaugural sailing of the Vista. Unfortunately there was nothing special about the ship or activities. Our stateroom was exactly like every other stateroom on Carnival's ships-- very basic. The entire ship had no bling or pizzazz. The atrium was plain. The theater is the worst of any cruise ship we have been on. There are rows of chairs set up in between each permanent row. The shows themselves were dull; only 2 of the 11 shows had full musical production. We resorted to the excellent Punchliners Comedy Club whenever we could get in. We met many other frequent cruisers, as we are. Everyone we met was disappointed, and some had booked 2 years earlier for the chance to be passengers on a new ship. We were very limited in the cabin selection as we booked in July and so only 2 cabins were left to choose from. On a positive note, the food and service were excellent. The specialty restaurants were awesome. There is an iMax theater is on board. Sorry there was not more excitement offered. Read Less

We are seasoned Carnival Platinum VIP's. We recently cruised on the Carnival Vista. Overall it was good. We found the poor ratings of main dinning were not true. We had the late seating. The service was fine and the food was great.. The food on buffet were not so good and there was no variety. Waiting line for dinning and show were not supervised and there were a few alteration among the passengers. The main show and comedy seat was a disaster. They use the Liquid Lounge for main shows and use chairs instead of stadium style seating. Passengers would move chairs and make it impossible to see. Many seats were blocked by passengers moving chairs and could not be used. The comedy show waiting line was worst. Sometimes waiting for over half hour and not getting in. Again many loose chairs not usable do to passengers blocking them. They increased the number of guest and only allowed 21 people in pool at a time. Read Less
