the layout of this ship is NOT user friendly, the lido has two lines for food instead of an area of buffet that is spread out. the end result is very long lines even if you only want a salad. there seem to be two bulkheads on this ship making navigation to different lounges or restaurants difficult. food and entertainment average, They did have a comedy club which we enjoyed very much. The service in the dining room was actually quicker than waiting in line in lido so we took most of our meals there. Carnival did one thing that was REALLY SPECIAL on Valentines day they did a mass renewal of wedding vows on all their ships followed by dropping red pink, and white balloons over us in the atrium. the staff was great had a problem with the tv, and they brought out a remote control right away but discovered it was the tv itself so the very next morning they brought out and installed a brand new television, kudo's to the maintenance team. We knew about the refurb because we have been on the sunshine. Best embarkation in 75 cruises. We were on the ship within 10 minutes of entering the building--amazing. The LITTLE things made a great big difference. When you get up at night soft lights along the floor show the way to the bathroom without waking up others . The cruise cards are already punched to attach to a lanyard. The chocolate melting cake is served with ice cream without asking (dont miss this). The hooavous rancheros at the blue iguana are another do not miss. The Caesar salad dressing was the best I have ever had on land or sea. They told me they make their own. The wait staff was superb ( I offered to adopt Wendy from Bali). She was a ray of sunshine even after a long work day. The singers and dancers were very good and there was a live band which is becoming rare as you know. the room looked like brand new and I guess they were as it was just refurbished. I drink decaf coffee and it is usually poor but not on this ship. It was rich and full flavored and always tasted fresh even in the buffet. I didnt try the slide although it sure looked like fun. Plenty of space to get away from children if that is your desire. The staff must have been good at entertaining the littles because they were not a problem although there were many aboard. The last day was a problem because one passenger chose not to wait until we arrived in Miami to disembark and we spent 8 hours sailing back to the middle keys looking for him. Sad beyond words. Nobody complained but it was a somber mood the rest of the day. We had to eat the next cruise passengers welcome aboard lunch as they waited 10 hours to board in Miami. I wish there were a way to prevent this kind of thing and I am sure the cruise lines wish there was also. If you are looking for a great short getaway this was is top notch. We will do it again I am sure. Read Less

Prior to this cruise I had taken 11 Carnival cruises and loved them all. I had also done this itenerary 3 times in the past and loved it. I was really wanting to visit Key West again and was only 8 days after a cruise on the Fascination, craving another cruise. This one was perfect ,Key West Interary and nice ship i had never been on. Embarkation was quick and easy. This particular ship has the sign and sail cards placed in the mailbox outside the cabin rather than issued at check in,so that speeds things up considerably. You can use your boarding pass to purchase drinks, etc prior to getting to the cabin to pick up your card. I loved the design and decor of this ship,so lovely!! the crew were so nice and helpful at all times. I only had dinner in the MDR twice,as I simply didnt see anything on the menu I was in the mood for the other two days. The food is delicious and of great quality. I booked this cruise for the interary, and it did not disappoint. I booked the Hop on,hop off conch train in Key West so I could see all the sights I wanted. I know you can walk up Duval to get to the Southernmost point, but I was not up for that long of a walk so I did the train. You can get off at a stop and walk over a short distance to it,so thats what i did.Key West is beautiful, and I highly suggest the conch train or the trolley tours for a great tour of the island This trip to Cozumel was my best ever. I booked a tour through the shore excursions desk that included snorkelling, lunch , a tableside guacamole demonstration,as well as a tequila tasting and demonstration. Protip: the passionfruit tequila was my favorite . Yum! this was my first attempt at snorkeling so I struggled a little with getting the hang of keeping water out of the mask and snorkel but when was doing it right it was amazing to look down at the fish and coral just a few feet below me! I felt like I could reach out and touch the fish. This was just a great cruise all around. I would definitely book this ship again. I hear it is going to be redone and changed to the Radiance,so I willl be trying it when it gets done. Read Less

The crew is friendly but rather unhelpful, they never clarified any instructions and I was offered a drink maybe once in my several days by the pool. There was no one out taking drink orders and bringing drinks. The food at the formal dining was not great, and even upon sitting at the bar my younger sister tried to get the crews attention for over 30 minutes. I’m addition when we made it to our second stop we originally were told we could get off at 11, well going through customs has people still on the boat it’s alrwady 2 o’clock. Originally they also said we didn’t have to be back on the hot until 8, that has also been moved up until 6:30. This is the most unruly cruise I’ve ever been on, people are missing their excursions they paid hundreds of dollars for, and frankly it isn’t even worth it to get off the boat anymore. Simply ridiculous. All of this said, we were looking for a cheaper cruise but I feel even for the price it wasn’t worth it. Read Less

We took a 4 night New Years Eve cruise from Miami on the Victory. The crew was great. Our dinning team was outstanding....friendly, efficient, outgoing....made dinner a joy. Same goes for room steward. Four shows (2 nights) were cancelled, one for weather, 2 for 'technical difficulties". Lounge entertainment was mediocre. First young man had a Karaoke voice andvorite a limited repertoire. Second was a steel drum player...she was ok...but 3 nights of steel drum.....really? The 1 show we did see was short and not very exciting...for entertainment....a C grade. Food was good and plentiful, B+. I will say that their boarding procedure was the best/easiest I have ever encountered. I like that cabin rooms are even on one side of ship, odd on the other....cuts down on confusion trying to find room. Don't like that cabins were only turned down either am or pm....not both. My guess is that they cut back on room stewards (to cut costs) and decreased service. I believe that Carnival is trying to be 'family friendly' which is fine for folks with children. They seem to have a lot for the kids, which is a good thing...but if you are cruising to have time away from the kiddos, then reconsider your choice. There were many unruly little ones running about. I was very surprised that there were very few stations to sanitize your hands...2 days after cruise I suffered Montezuma's revenge. Very few chances to sanitize. I have cruise other lines and will probably go back to my favorite...Norwegian. Read Less

I have am a slight handicapped passenger. i did not need a wheel chair. I had preregistered on line and the curbside support was great. the first dock people in the terminal were more interested in text on thier cell phones and not helping the passengers. when I asked what time I had to board she said its on my boarding pass. No zone was or number was on the pass that I made on line. I am a gold member and that meant nothring. I had signed up for a 12:30 boarding time and the not attentive two gate agents siad you wil jjust have to wait. when i was charging my phone I can what appeared to the supevisor or the gate area and she said I could have boarded already. We finally started the process of getting onto the ship. That is when all service disappeared. We go to the room after waiting and hour in the buffet area. the buffet line was over an hour wait. there was no assistance offered and I finally gave up and went directly to the salad bar. for a ship with over 3000 guest I would have thought more possible stations then the pasta hamburger and buffet areas would be open. the pizza was also an hour wait and the hambuger and pasta areas were also an hour wait. why the main dining rooms werent open I have no clue. When qwe got to the room. the 3rd wasnt there. We had expected a drop down bed but instead with had a trundle bed with a reaslly crappy mattress. No one was answering the steward line and no one was answering the service line. we finally went to the front desk another 45 min wait. Once I got the desk I was completely rebuffed with the fine print of the contract. if we had been told it was a trundle bed we would not have reserved the extended balcony for three. we would have gotten a standard balcony wiht the drop down ben. I asked for wheel chair assist and waited over 25 min. so my first 4 hours with Carnival were horrible. No food. room number ready and no wheel chair every showed up. when I gave up on the wheel chair another supervisor who was directing the traffic asked if he could help. My legs at that point had giving out and caused me to fall. Again no help from a staff to get up or get a wheel chair. then the continuous annoouncements. We douldnt understand and single word fo the announcements. if the ship needs to do this as load as they are it needs to be fixed. the announcements at 10 am and later should be eliminated and teh training load horns on the cozumel day were horrible. I thinki I load the hearing from laying out on the serenity deck. The food on the ship was about mcdonalds level of tastiness. poor soups, same deserts every night and the meat was 1/2 rate. this was my 11th crusie and 10th with carnival my gold level on this cruise ment nothing except the pin. no captains toast and nothing in docking etc. The service team needs to go to jet blue RCCL or southwest about service. our room steward was decent and no one got an additianal tip. I should have actually reduced all of the tips to $0 dollars. I was with 10 other men and trying to get carnival to get us onto a single table was like asking moses to party the red sea. We ended up with drunk lady that pissed off one of our guest who was celebrating his birthday and we ahd men at 3 other tables. The pizza was only decent. for the wait I would have expected more. It was basic but very greasy. I asked for vinegar for my fries and was told they didnt have any. IN all of my cruises on carnival I looked forward to different appetizer and never turned away a main because the pasta, sauce or meats were great. the sauses were average, the plate was filled with stuff that didnt look or taste good and the desert bar at the buffet was the same stuff each day. I guess the desert chefs have been allowed to serve substandard fare. I will not take the Victory again. I have had a ton better service on teh smaller ships like sendation and facination. and the ship we had in Alaska. I think we will use RCCL and celebrity for future cruises. Read Less

Just a quick cruise so I don't forget what it is like. We realized a 3 day cruise is too short for us we will go for a 4 or 5 day from now on for our quick cruises. The Victory is an older ship a little crowded but still has some elegance left in her. Wait staff really made the cruise. Ask for Imade if you can. He and his staff treated us like royalty. We have been to The Bahama's many times so that was not very exciting but the stay over night was something we will not do again. The casino seemed a little tight I did not hear too many screams of joy from the winners. The food was great but not enough time to try some of the alternative dinning although the deli looked pretty good. We forgot or passports but the great staff at Port of Miami walked us through the process and saw to it we did not lose our cruise and for that we are grateful. . Overall it was a good cruise. Sailed Non 2017. We loved this ship from the minute we got on-board. It was showing it's age a bit but nothing terrible. I believe it is in dry dock at the moment for a small update. Which will be great because we are returning on the same cruise in Feb. 2018, same cruise, same ship and same room. Felipe Couto is the cruise director and he is amazing. By far the best we have ever seen. Looking forward to seeing him next month. Back to the cruise. We were worried 4 days would pass too quickly but it didn't. We had a great time. Food, entertainment and the ship were just great. We did not take any excursion because of the short itinerary and mainly because we cruise for the ship. We stayed on-board and enjoyed ourselves. We have cruised on other cruise lines but we prefer the Fun Ships of Carnival. This will be our 5th cruise with Carnival and will definitely not be our last. This was a last minute choice as our husbands went to a NASCAR race in Tennessee. This was my first time on Carnival as I have cruised mainly on Royal Caribbean Celebrty and Princess. My friend is an avid cruiser also but has done one or two on Carnival. There were a few things we liked, but many we did not: We both liked the embarkation and debarkation process. Taking our picture on other cruise lines is a tedious process and Carnival scans your passports/photo id and uses that picture. Moves the lines along. The food was just OK. The deserts were a big disappointment. We both don't eat deserts too often at home and an indulgence on a cruise is something we looked forward to. We both enjoyed our cabin. Was especially impressed with the size of the shower! Pretty roomy for a cruise ship. We had a port side balcony on Deck 6 and was happy with that choice. We liked the fact that there is room service on the morning of debarkation, but it would have been nice if they mentioned that somewhere in the paperwork we got. The cafe needs a COMPLETE OVERHALL. It is way too cramped. They need to move the food stations to the middle and create pathways. The lines went out the door to the pool. The only time it wasn't crowded was on the morning of return. They have used that space poorly, They also need to brighten up the entire lobby and atrium area. While the color choices and theme are all right, the lights are too dim and it still looks pretty dark because the floors are black. If they keep the color scheme, they need to use differnt lighting and brighten the floors. I read other reviews about the cabin stewards and I must say, this was the worst cabin steward I have encountered. I needed to call housekeeping to get a box of tissues after asking three times for them! He did, however, keep the cabin clean, but we hardly saw him. One thing I will say, he noticed that I was a diabetic and brought me a portable sharps container on his own. I travel with something and didn't ask for one. THAT was impressive. The adult "pool" isn't a pool. It is a small area - in the sun - with two hots tubs. I know the majority of travelers are young people, but about 15% of the passengers were of a certain age (like myself and my friend) and would appreciate a more age appropriate area. I can't say enought good things about the entertainment. Felipe the cruise director is just phenomenal. He told me he just came onboard a month ago and, wow, he is impressive. Also a shout out to Isaac and Oscar who were just a hoot and who made the music trivia games so much more fun. Ships' company and dining room staff were great. I like that they ask you your name and always address you by name. We took a shore excursion in Cozumel from the ship - Top 10 Things in Cozumel - and were impressed with the tour company and our guide Danny. The only thing I would recommend is they have insect repellant on the bus or advise us to bring some....we were eaten alive by mosquitos!!! We were asked our opinion of our cruise one night at dinner by a staff member and we imparted most of what I said here. She told us that they were taking Victory out of service in March for 2-3 months for a major overhaul. I hope they take our suggestions to heart and make some changes I don't think I would cruise on Carnival again - not because it wasn't good but I just like the atmosphere on Royal and Celebrity better, but I gave it a try and had a good time, Read Less

This was my second cruise and overall, it was amazing! The food was particularly wonderful, the staff was friendly, the activities were plentiful and even the hiccups left my best friends and I with some amazing stories! Ship: Overall, the ship was well-decorated (personal opinion), clean and easy to navigate. The only negative we encountered about the ship overall was that in some areas (certain hallways, common areas) there was an unpleasant "restroomy" smell. Cabin: We booked an interior cabin that was supposed to have two twin beds and a pull out couch since we had 3 guests. The ship was not able to accommodate that request and instead gave us an average sized interior room with two beds. We were told that a cot would be brought to our room. It wasn't delivered until very late at night which would have been inconvenient if we wanted to nap that day or go to bed early. When the "cot" finally came, it was the equivalent of a blow up mattress on the floor. That was a bit disappointing. The linens on this "cot" were also never changed during our 4 day cruise. Other than that, the room was clean and service was good. Dining: The food was EXCELLENT! The Lido deck breakfast never disappointed and the dining room food and service was absolutely superb. One of our guests had a seafood allergy and was given the menu for the following evening every night so that the staff could be sure that her food would be prepared separately and safely. It also gave myself and our other friend the chance to get a sneak peak at what would be served. We also had the chance on this cruise to try the Seaday Brunch and it was delicious. Entertainment: What can I say? It was definitely a "Fun Cruise". During all of our relaxing we didn't get to do as many of the activities as we wanted, but each one we did get the chance to experience was fun. We went to Bingo, Karaoke (the Red and Black Lounge is beautiful btw), the Hairy Chest Competition and the Spa demonstration just to name a few. Ports: Key West was beautiful, but a short trip so plan activities wisely. There is not much of a beach, but the water is beautiful. Also, in regards to the shuttle that Carnival provides to and from the port at Key West, a million people will show up for the last shuttle so try to get there early just to be safe. We loved the Fat Tuesdays here! Cozumel was a lot of fun! We booked the Helmet Sea Floor excursion through Carnival and the experience and service were awesome. The tour guides were super helpful and two free drinks were included! Afterwards, the cab driver that was called for us by the tour guides took us to a resort called "Paradise Island" with the most beautiful heated pool! We could have stayed forever. The beach was a little underwhelming. I prefer the white sand and bluer water I experienced in the Bahamas. I enjoyed the Latinx culture and flavor of this destination but don't know if I would chose it again. Overall, it was a wonderful vacation and I definitely plan on sailing the Victory again when I get the chance! Read Less

Wanted to go on a short cruise to visit a Key West and Cozumel. Weather was superb for this 4 day cruise. Cruisers were nice. Deck party was lively however Carnival doesn't serve any carvings of fruit or food anymore for their deck party leaving Cozumel. That's a disappointment. Another cost cutting area for Carnival. Also stateroom attendant asks if you want your cabin cleaned once a day, morning or evening, cleaned two times a day. They never asked before as it was always two times a day. Another cost cutting area for Carnival. They do sell a lot of booze and take a lot of photos on the ship. Revenue items for them. Ship looked very nice. Entertainment was superb. Great piano bar, comedians were very good and the show in theatre was also very good. Nice music around the ship as well. Food had a variety but was mediocre. Overall enjoyed the cruise as weather was great as well as entertainment. Read Less

Ship MS Carnival Victory Date 2/6/2017 Folks, I am a gold member on Carnival so I obviously have been on several cruises. Just some thoughts on our experience for your consideration - you decide for yourself. This is the seventh ship in the fleet we have sailed on - and by far the worst. The ship is dirty, especially the windows - just terrible. Carnival is in the process of rejuvenating the cabins, which in my opinion, is hanging new curtains in a haunted house. The new rooms are okay, but not great. Watch out for construction since Carnival does not list this on their site. We had a room, 8401, that was directly next to the construction zone. To their credit, Carnival made this better with a credit - but - would have been nice to know before going. If you don't mind saws cutting through metal at 9 AM, then please ignore. The room steward, Edy, was awesome. The cruise director, Marcelo aka Marshmallow, was great. He is high energy, entertaining, shares his personal life - and all-around the best cruise director ever. He should be an employee of the month. One note - please eliminate the all-deck broadcasts at 10 PM - some of us go to bed a bit early. Limit the announcements to the common areas and not the hotel portion. Also, balcony was a good size, special amenities were provided as ordered, but the room never was cold enough for my taste. Food - well okay. The hot buffet food on the Lido deck, was cold - ALWAYS! The food was tasty, but cold???? - no way. The dessert selection on the Lido deck was pathetic at best. Also, be aware, there are only two buffet lines - often very crowded. While I am talking about food - why have a no shirt, no shoes policy if not enforced? I really don't want a person with no shirt or a dripping wet bathing suit reaching over the food. Most health departments require this standard to be met - yet Carnival AND other cruise lines look the other way. And having no shoes is just asking for a sanitary issue. Food rates a -1 from me. Entertainment - you know the specialty shows in the big theater. AWFUL - the female lead was so out of key on some songs it was really hard to figure out the song. The worst of the two shows was Living in America primarily based on my experience listening to the female lead. The male lead was very good, the live band was awesome, the sets were disappointing, and the lighting was nice. One note - if you sit on the second or third level on the right side, the speakers have seen better days especially the woofers which have cracked speaker cones. Guest Services and Shore Excursion staff - outstanding! Comedy shows - well, Percy Crews II is amazing - funny, respectful, spontaneous, and tremendous personal values. Billy Washington - just my opinion - lazy, not engaged and somewhat boring.I will be sending a separate email to the CEO about his performance and I will leave it there. Overall, I will never sail this ship again. Carnival is trying but this ship is not worth your dollars or investment. A very disappointing experience given other Carnival ships. Absolutely one of the worst ships I have sailed on. I am a Carnival advocate. Like the line, the people, the itineraries, entertainment, crew and service personnel. Just will never do this ship again. Read Less

I'm a loyal Carnival cruiser. In fact I went on 3 Carnival cruises this year and last year. In fact, I'm almost a Platinum loyalty cruiser with them. BUT, I'm tired of them taking away all of our perks!! They are trying to get away from cleaning your cabin twice a day. They gave the room stewards double the number of rooms to clean and told them to clean them just ONCE a day. Neither Royal caribbean or Norwegian is just cleaning the room once. I asked other cruisers on those ships in Miami. No lobsters on 3 or 4 cruises. No free drinks for Gold members. Where is it going to stop??? What's next?? And carnival is taking back from their staff also. It's time to start checking out those other cruise lines. PS. If you go to Cozumel, please try the "Give back with Purpose-Community tour." We had the early dinner in dining room. The waiters were outstanding and the food very good. We only did one show and that was the last night called Vroom. Very good. We went ashore for quick shopping then back on board to enjoy the hot tubs. Love having ice cream machine & 24 hr pizza. Watched the National championship game on the deck on the big screen. I had read that Victory was older and was being refurbished,so we went in with no expectations. What a pleasant surprise! The ship is older but was only noticeable here and there.Loved the colors, very pretty. We had been upgraded to an Ocean Suite which was clean and comfotable with a new bathroom. There were a few small things that showed age in the room, but nothing that stuck out.Only problem we had was there were light switches on the headboard,so everytime hub rearranged his pillows the ceiling lights would come on! Our room attendant was great, always smiling and helpful. We encountered a really nice staff throughout the ship during the whole cruise. We chose the Anytime dining, and always had a great team of servers every evening. Our only complaint was the dining room was always so cold.Food quality and portions were very good, but please don't call a boneless pork chop a pork steak! My favorite dessert of the week was the caramel cheesecake at Seaday brunch, yummy! My only complaint is why aren't there more movies on the screen, even cartoons?!One evening we wnt for a walk and noticed a cartoon movie,as did many others, and we all stopped to watch it.i think passengers would enjoy this very much! All in all I'm glad we decided to sail on Victory, and will probably sail on her again!Great ship! This was my 12th cruise in ten years and if it wasn't for my family, it would have been the worst. The rooms were dirty, thank goodness for baby wipes. I wiped down all the counter tops, and the remote made me want to go ewwwwwwwwwww. The food was awesome, the wait staff in the dining room were great. Carnival needs to be more conscious of the entertainment with children. The hairiest chest competition got a little disgusting with all the children in the pool area. Having the guys strip down to skivvies in Vroom was a little much for the 8:30 PM show when you know kids will be in attendance. Camp Carnival was awesome, the Granddaughters loved it. Room service was non-existent, on previous cruises we ordered milk and cookies for the girls, it took at least 8-9 calls a night just to get them to answer the phone. Also, the variety of things on TV were poor. Other Carnival cruises had movies at night for the kids. The new Monsters University started at midnight, really? The pizza station was great but they only made one pizza at a time, he told me to come back in 5 min and when I did the pizza was gone! On nights when you have shore excursions that don't get back to the ship until after dinner, you think you might need two or three people making pizza's? Also, we couldn't find a burger when we came back from Cozumel, all the stations were closed. I had a great time, sunshine and 84 away from the snow and ice, spending time with the family, could it have been better - yes! Read Less
