We went on this cruise with some other couples. We did Faster to the Fun- it was helpful to get right on the ship, but apparently we could have gotten on earlier... Our cabin was ready to go with our room keys and we went to grab some lunch in lido buffet. The way they have the food lines does not make for an easy experience. You have to wait in line cafeteria style instead of having different stations. One morning I just wanted some grits and the line was wrapped around the corner. So, that was a no. Also, they have upstairs seating which is great except you can't get to it because the sweets station is there and they have cake cutters right at the entrance to the stairs which means there are people on both sides trying to get cake and you can't walk by them as there is just not room. Guy's burgers were great- except at peak times they just hand you a cheeseburger- there is no ordering one off the menu. The breakfast burritos were pretty good at the Blue Igauna (i think that was the name). The dining room was hit or miss food wise. My husband ordered off the $20 steakhouse menu the last night- his food came out way later than everyone else's and was super tough. He didn't even eat half of it. Room service was not advertised except for breakfast. There was a hanging menu. We ordered the $3 breakfast biscuit one morning and neither one of us could eat it. The sausage was disgusting. Like spat it out gross. The waiters were great. The room steward was super nice. Our particular room was on the 8th floor and was the extended balcony-room 8428. We couldn't use our deck half the time because water pooled around the entrance to the door ( I mean several inches deep). Our steward had to sweep it several times. Stuff would fall down (cigarette butts, hats, random liquids) and kids at the pool deck could look down on us so that was not awesome. On the sea day, we got a note saying they were doing routine work on our balcony. Basically, they hosed it down and it was soaking wet so again, we couldn't use it. So disappointed. The comedians were funny, karaoke was super entertaining, and the shows- well people walked out. I felt bad, but they were not very good. The ship overall was pretty good, the lobby was nice. But, because they galley for the kitchens was located in the middle of decks 3 and 4, you had to go to 5 to get across the ship- which meant walking through the smoky casino (kids, families, everyone). Not my favorite. Our excursions were ok. Key West, we took an uber to the southernmost point and then walked to Hemingway House. Great tour and loved it. Then, headed to Sloppy Joe's for a drink and a small bite to eat. Didn't have enough time - 7 am- 1:30 ( i think). Cozumel excursion was not worth it. We did the downtown shopping and beach break. The tour operators were great - no complaints there. We got on a large and pretty comfy bus to go to downtown Cozumel. On the way, they tell us that everything is shipped in as Cozumel does not produce anything. Then to the shop, which is basically like the dollar store of crappy souvenirs. We were there about 40 minutes in that one store. Nice bathrooms though. Then, we went back on the bus to another shopping area- except it was different crappy souvenirs that you had to haggle the price on. Most people had already bought stuff so we just sat in chairs we could find for another 40 minutes. Waste of time. Then to the beach. We only had like an hour or so to enjoy the water and chairs. It just wasn't enough time to do much. Overall, the trip was fun because of who we were with, but I wasn't pleased with the final experience. Read Less

The crew is friendly but rather unhelpful, they never clarified any instructions and I was offered a drink maybe once in my several days by the pool. There was no one out taking drink orders and bringing drinks. The food at the formal dining was not great, and even upon sitting at the bar my younger sister tried to get the crews attention for over 30 minutes. I’m addition when we made it to our second stop we originally were told we could get off at 11, well going through customs has people still on the boat it’s alrwady 2 o’clock. Originally they also said we didn’t have to be back on the hot until 8, that has also been moved up until 6:30. This is the most unruly cruise I’ve ever been on, people are missing their excursions they paid hundreds of dollars for, and frankly it isn’t even worth it to get off the boat anymore. Simply ridiculous. All of this said, we were looking for a cheaper cruise but I feel even for the price it wasn’t worth it. Read Less

We chose our first summer cruise (6th cruise overall) to celebrate our 20th Anniversry! It was fun! We arrived later than normal the day boarding at 2pm. Easy peasy. Once onboard we went to our stateroom where our keys were waiting outside our room. We opted for our first balcony experience and we quite enjoyed it! We were in room 8300. Quiet spot, lots of room and storage, comfy King bed. Of course we brought a power bar and put it to good use. Shower was hot all the time, bathroom big enough for us. Mini fridge is always handy. One day an hour after we left Cozumel I noticed a large fish in the water below our balcony. After watching it for a few seconds it came up for air and I realized it was a baby dolphin! I called my wife out too see but she was too late. Not two minutes later we saw two more young dolphins! A very cool experience we wouldn’t have gotten if we didn’t have a balcony. Most of the time the balcony upgrade is too pricey but for this four day cruise it made sense. One great upgrade in all rooms was the night light that would come on near the floor when you got up to go to bathroom in the dark! Someone was thinking, cool feature to have it on a floor motion detector. Only came on when your feet hit the floor. Food was good on board. The Atlantic dining room was our place to “anytime dine” and Nick and his crew were fantastic! Food was hot and tasty and Nick worked hard to make our experience great. We even got sang too and presented with a special dessert for our anniversary. That was a nice touch. We found that line ups were often long at the deli and pizza place. Go in off peak times to avoid this. My GF diet was catered too everywhere on ship except at the Blue Iguana, no corn taco shells!! Even the deli had a turkey wrap ready in a FF wrap! Buffet was decent and had two omelette stations. We had the cheers drink package and really enjoyed ordering whatever we wanted without worrying about the cost. Entertainment on board was great! Good shows in the main showroom and funny comedians, two of them. Wasn’t a big fan of Leticia, solo singer. Voice seemed to over power the ambiance. The casino was Smokey in areas but fun! We were premier guests and enjoyed Kyle and his crew with all the fun games and draws. I won $75 in one game when my playing card was pulled and I got to select an envelope to open. My wife’s name was drawn for a $400 prize but she was enjoying the balcony and couldn’t make it in time to collect her prize. Slot tournaments were fun as well as the BJ one. First cruise I ever finished up at. Only $300 but I’ll take it! Pool areas were fun, crowded but we just hopped in to cool off then jump in the outdoor shower. Water slide was fun, I enjoyed trying it. Lots of chairs could be found if you weren’t stuck on a particular area. I found good service at all the bars, staff was great. We really liked the itinerary, Keywest is vey fun and reminded us of a mini New Orleans. We did a hop on hop off trolley tour for $35 each, 90 min. Narrated. It was a great way to see things and hear the history. Next time we can go do something more specific. Leaving at 1pm made it a short stay, would love to hang out in Sloppy Joes and other bars longer. Cozumel is one of our favs and this time we booked an excursion privately with four other lovely people we met here on cruise critic. Tour was awesome, picked up in an air conditioned van and taken to a Tequelia farm, local bar, Coconuts bar and Tortuga Beach bar where we were fed free lunch (yummy tacos) and got to do some snorkeling for free. Very cool, was a 5 hour tour all over the island. Thanks to our tour organizer Cindy and Michael (NCL CIN) for including us and for our other new friends Tonya and Jill for being great passengers with us!! Tequelia farm is NOT to be missed and none of us were Tequelia fans prior to this. It tasted NOTHING LIKE the Tequelia we drink in North America. So tasty and smooth, no salt and lemon needed. Everyone bought a bottle Beiderbecke we left. Local bar was eye opening, 8 drinks and free apps, the bill was $25!! Coconuts was on the no hydro side of the island and well worth the trek. Drinks were pricey but bar and view was fantastic. All in all another great Carnival cruise, felt longer than four days! Read Less

I choose this cruise because we brought family with us who never cruised before. It was the shortest cruise we ever did. I have always took a cruise with carnival to celebrate my anniversary. I got a gift card that was expired. They didnt sing Happy Anniversary to us or acknowledge us at dinner. This was completely strange to us. We always get a bottle of wine and the waiters sing to us. We actually enjoy the special attention they paid to us on our last cruise. We also told them it was my nieces birthday and they didnt acknowledge her at all. Every night we heard waiters singing happy anniversary and happy birthday to other guests. Destinations were at Key West and Cozumel. I think it would have been nice to know that at both destinations we docked away from all the major attractions, all on the other side of the islands. Key West was too quick, and they rushed us back on the ship ...we had until 1:30, that changed to 1PM and then they told us to be on the ship by 12 noon...we got off the ship close to 8:30AM that left no time to see anything on the other side. The food quality has gone down, cold food, no surf and turf (included) everything was extra which usually isnt for at least one dinner. The activities for late dinner guest were not properly timed. We missed the comedy and other things we would have liked to do. The ship was extra rocky. I witnessed one of the food servers using the restroom and walking out without washing her hands. This is my last carnival cruise. Read Less

It was a charter for a nude cruise we have wanted to try. Generally all was great, however the buffet was less than acceptable at all meals. Switched to eating at deli, and dinning rooms for breakfast and dinners. Ship is older and paint covers things up at a distance, yet up close not to good. Wondered why one hot tub was broken even after ship was in dry dock for a month before we sailed. Also, the pictures you see on the ads with nice clean windows are not true. Do not get me wrong, I know at sea that weather and water affect the windows views yet this was somewhat disappointing. Music everywhere except the fantail, music is nice yet it can be overbearing and weird going from one part of the ship to another with many different genres playing. Our steward was exceptional and very attentive. Did two excursions, one good, one not good. The "not good" one we should have gotten off the bus when the guide told us we were the first tour they were operating, plus taking us to a far off beach with no facilities without offering water was stupid. None of this was noted in our excursion information. Oh well, live and learn. Read Less

I have am a slight handicapped passenger. i did not need a wheel chair. I had preregistered on line and the curbside support was great. the first dock people in the terminal were more interested in text on thier cell phones and not helping the passengers. when I asked what time I had to board she said its on my boarding pass. No zone was or number was on the pass that I made on line. I am a gold member and that meant nothring. I had signed up for a 12:30 boarding time and the not attentive two gate agents siad you wil jjust have to wait. when i was charging my phone I can what appeared to the supevisor or the gate area and she said I could have boarded already. We finally started the process of getting onto the ship. That is when all service disappeared. We go to the room after waiting and hour in the buffet area. the buffet line was over an hour wait. there was no assistance offered and I finally gave up and went directly to the salad bar. for a ship with over 3000 guest I would have thought more possible stations then the pasta hamburger and buffet areas would be open. the pizza was also an hour wait and the hambuger and pasta areas were also an hour wait. why the main dining rooms werent open I have no clue. When qwe got to the room. the 3rd wasnt there. We had expected a drop down bed but instead with had a trundle bed with a reaslly crappy mattress. No one was answering the steward line and no one was answering the service line. we finally went to the front desk another 45 min wait. Once I got the desk I was completely rebuffed with the fine print of the contract. if we had been told it was a trundle bed we would not have reserved the extended balcony for three. we would have gotten a standard balcony wiht the drop down ben. I asked for wheel chair assist and waited over 25 min. so my first 4 hours with Carnival were horrible. No food. room number ready and no wheel chair every showed up. when I gave up on the wheel chair another supervisor who was directing the traffic asked if he could help. My legs at that point had giving out and caused me to fall. Again no help from a staff to get up or get a wheel chair. then the continuous annoouncements. We douldnt understand and single word fo the announcements. if the ship needs to do this as load as they are it needs to be fixed. the announcements at 10 am and later should be eliminated and teh training load horns on the cozumel day were horrible. I thinki I load the hearing from laying out on the serenity deck. The food on the ship was about mcdonalds level of tastiness. poor soups, same deserts every night and the meat was 1/2 rate. this was my 11th crusie and 10th with carnival my gold level on this cruise ment nothing except the pin. no captains toast and nothing in docking etc. The service team needs to go to jet blue RCCL or southwest about service. our room steward was decent and no one got an additianal tip. I should have actually reduced all of the tips to $0 dollars. I was with 10 other men and trying to get carnival to get us onto a single table was like asking moses to party the red sea. We ended up with drunk lady that pissed off one of our guest who was celebrating his birthday and we ahd men at 3 other tables. The pizza was only decent. for the wait I would have expected more. It was basic but very greasy. I asked for vinegar for my fries and was told they didnt have any. IN all of my cruises on carnival I looked forward to different appetizer and never turned away a main because the pasta, sauce or meats were great. the sauses were average, the plate was filled with stuff that didnt look or taste good and the desert bar at the buffet was the same stuff each day. I guess the desert chefs have been allowed to serve substandard fare. I will not take the Victory again. I have had a ton better service on teh smaller ships like sendation and facination. and the ship we had in Alaska. I think we will use RCCL and celebrity for future cruises. Read Less

My family and I really enjoyed this cruise. We were part of a group of 17 people. We had a row of rooms on the 6th floor. They opened our balconies and that made it nice that we were able to walk about to each other room via balcony. We chose the 10:30 check in time. That was nice but we were still not able to get on the boat until almost noon. It was nice not having to take pictures or anything when getting on the boat. They used your picture from your passport. The ship was an older ship but it was extremely clean. I loved our room. We never really wanted for much. There was plenty to do at all times. I would surely recommend this boat for any one who doesn't want to be on one of the newer mega ships. My only reason I couldn't give a perfect rating was because on night 3 dinner was more of a freestyle dinner so my husband and I were sitting at a table with a couple we didn't know. I would have liked to been with our group. My four year old daughter loved Camp Ocean and they loved her as well. She was always happy to go. Read Less

I was between three and four stars (circles lol) We have cruised to the ports on this cruise before but like both of them. In addition wanted to see Jay Leno. Trying to get good tickets in the Ct Casino where he appears at times isn't easy so we decided to combine a cruise and Leno. Overall a very good time, above average customer care very friendly crew who appeared to really want us to have a good vacation. This helped to bring my rating up. The ship was as clean as it could possibly be, the rooms were just renovated and were very nice. We had a balcony on the Spa level. Generally we may have enjoyed this cruise more than on the Dream and Breeze partly because crew was simply better. The Leno appearance was excellent, laugh after laugh. We did the VIP and he was gracious and getting VIP seating with champagne etc was a nice way to enhance the experience. Shows in general were good, not outstanding but somehow better than we saw on our last cruise on the Dream. Cruise director was everywhere, in a good way. Food was overall quite good, perhaps better on Lido deck than the dining room but both were good. A couple of dining meals were actually excellent and two were ok. (We did not get the Steak upgrades) Breakfast on the Lido deck was quite good we did not eat breakfast in the dining room. Embarking and Disembarking were about the best it has ever been especially Disembarking. We did have to wait longer for our luggage than in the past and we did have FTTF. But FTTF did give us a long time on the Ship with our room available on the boarding day from 11AM. That was extra time by several hours than some other times. The problems. By the end of the third day and on the fourth there was a sewer smell on a couple of the lower decks, 3&4 I believe most noticeable by the elevators. Food lines were generally LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG! They seemed longer than on the larger ships. It seemed like there were fewer crew members to serve and replace food. (Though the crew cleaning tables and the general areas seemed like more and did an excellent job.) At times the Pizza place had one person with many in line many of us gave up on Pizza those times. The Grill (burger) line was a little more reliable to be quicker. Breakfast was hit and miss with sometimes very long lines others not quite as bad. Shopping on board was the usual though my Wife found a very nice CZ ring for a good price. Read Less

We had grandparents and a teenager and a 3 years old. Everyone had a good time. Both Joko and Aminade provided good room service. when I called (cabin 6364), Joko will answer it right away and provide help immediately. My mom (cabin 1394) wanted me to say Aminade cleaned their cabin very well. we have dinners in the Pacific Dinning Room every night. Our server team have been consistently so patient and nice to our table. I wrote down their name the last night to share it here as appreciation for making our dinner amazing experience. They are Roberto, I Komang and Suardinata. BTW, both Cabins are like brand new and sparkly clean with a mini fridge in each. We can store milk for our daughter's milk drinking at night and early morning. I was so happy about that. There were plenty things to do at both Key West and Cozumel. there was a lesson learned for the tour arrangement. We booked the Top 10 Cozumel. We were priority group left the ship first. We were the first group arrived at the tour waiting area. But the local guide who was holding the sign said our tour would be starting until 2:00pm. So we have 1.5 hours to wonder around. When we came back, we were told our tour left a time ago based on the time on the tickets. Basically, the local guide told us wrong time for some reason. So always trust the time on the tickets, not what they told you. Their English was not the best. In the end, we were refunded the money. Read Less

I first want to say I started off with low expectations so I wouldn't be disappointed and that did not help. First the check in process horrible people was confused they would call you then say go to another area. We get on the boat we had a balcony the room was set up for 3 people we only had 2 in our room. We kept looking for a steward we found someone to get us help. Then he didn't understand what was wrong and brought us sheets. Had to go to guest services to get them to get us help. In the end we had to move the beds around. Of course in that process we saw how dirty the room actually was. The TV was dusty and there was a diabetic strip (used) on the side of it. Then dinner the service was awful the first night couldn't get drinks to our table they was short with you to almost rude it's the first day dining service was all attitude for breakfast and dinner. You could never get a hold of room service or your cabin steward thru the phone. We had to call guest service to transfer us when we're we need room service. Wen we was at port they would turn off the air to our rooms. We would come back to hot rooms on the 2 port days. Food for dinner was what I expected blah and not good. I will leave with some good things had fun on our carnival paid excursions set up nicely. Entertainment was fun on ship. Alchemy bar was great. Sea day brunch food was nice ( still service poor) spa seminar was nice. Relax in the serenity area ( again poor customer service in that area Read Less

Departed Port of Miami on Carnival Victory for short jump to Key West (yawn) and then over to Cozumel (double yawn) before "day at sea" return to Miami. I will tell you we are seasoned cruisers, 13 total, across many lines (RCCL, Princess, HAL, NCL, Disney, others) and have successfully avoided Carnival until the wife's company booked a 200 person sales reward cruise based on, guess what? Cost. I will be honest: the cruise overall was not terrible. It only seemed like it at many points during time on board. Embarkation and Debark relatively trouble free and the majority of shoreside Carnival reps are helpful and polite. No way to avoid the feed-lot scene; they do it as well as most. Here is my summary of key aspects: Cabins: we had a balcony cabin, which was good. Would never want an interior cabin, unless you are Never there. Balcony cabins are bad enough. The bed was decent, because we added a topper (key request of cruise). The room was small, the TV was bad (old tube type, which should tell you all you need to know about this tired old boat). The bathroom was pink tile (no kidding, would I make this up) with tons of caulking and ugly stains. It had a couch so that was a plus. Everything in the room was old, but it did not smell. The food: not as bad as I thought it would be. The lobster formal night was actually good. All other food I would rate a 3-4 on scale of 10. If you rate it higher than this, you've not been around. The burger and chicken finger bar was passable. The sandwich bar was meh. (ordered reuben twice. Got ham and cheese twice.) The buffet was so resistable I never ate one meal there. The pizza bar was decent, but you had to order a pizza and then wait for it, some 10-15 minutes later. Idiotic, easily the worst food policy I have ever seen on a cruise. The ice cream machine served something else. Most folks had nary a problem with any of this, as the usual scenario was heap the plate and force a lot down, damn the taste. Drinks/bars: the usual assortment of high-margin fruity drinks of the day and overpriced beers, but hey, this is the way you got your $349 or less cruise price. Buckets of beer the best deal. Soft drink packages at $27/cruise not bad if you guzzle more than 5 or 6 a day. Entertainment: Knew it would be lame so didn't go. Pools: Give me a break. Use these pools? With all these kids? And drunk teenagers? Death wish for sure. Never saw a hot tub without a dozen teens packed in. Sun and deck chairs: hardly ever a problem, only slightly for day at sea. Towels decent enough, mostly worn out. Chairs reached the end of useful life about 100 cruises ago. Bottom line: If not for the worst imaginable most insensitive idiots I ever had the extreme displeasure o being assigned a cabin next door to (think trash talking at all hours of day and night, and I mean ALL hours; gang bangers at their finest) I might not have minded the cruise. But this, along with the usual empty-headed teen drinkers, killed it for me because you cannot control the crowd, and let's face it, the uncouth low-budget cruiser is Carnival's primary target for this type of short out'n'back cruise. Here's the deal: the cruise was free for us, and I Still wish I hadn't gone. Read Less

Just back from a 5 day chartered cruise on the Victory with my 21 year old niece. Considering Victory is an older ship, I was skeptical about what shape she would be in. All my worries were for nothing. Of course, the Victory is showing signs of age here and there, but overall, the ship is in great shape. Very clean ship, friendly crew, and an overall positive experience. We flew into FLL the morning of the cruise with a 9:00 AM arrival. Picked up by pre-arranged car service, we were in the cruise terminal in Miami by 10:30, processed and on the ship by 11:30 (did not have FTTF). As part of the first group on, we had the ship to ourselves for a bit. Our room was unofficially ready around 12:30 and we dropped off our carryon bag in a closet. When we disembarked, we used the Carnival shuttle service back to FLL. I thought Miami had the smoothest disembarkation process and the shuttle was hassle free and quite convenient. Because this was a chartered cruise, all of the entertainment, including the cruise director were not from Carnival. I thought my cabin steward and dining crew were excellent. In my opinion, the food was good, not great. Unlike my last Carnival cruise, the dining room food was always hot. I liked most choices on the menu, and overall, I was happy with everything. Loved the warm bread at dinner every night. Bar service was not the best in the dining room. I did not love the Lido buffets, had issues with choices, appeal and temperature. Nothing was truly awful, so I can honestly say the food was generally ok. Best chocolate chip cookies of any cruise line though. Cabin was aft-wrap balcony, 7422. I loved this cabin and the balcony was amazing. I did think the cabin lacked drawer space and the location of the bathroom was unfortunate for the bed closest to the door (light in your face every time the door opened). We had rough seas on the last day, and even I was feeling a little queasy. We were upgraded into this cabin, and as much as I loved it, I don’t know that I would pay extra to have it. We didn’t get a lot of sun on the balcony, so the 2 loungers went unused. Unobstructed view of the stars was great. It was a quiet cabin with no noise from above, below, or anywhere else. We took a Carnival excursion to Dunn’s River Falls and Beach horseback riding in Ocho Rios. Excellent excursion, and I felt we were really taken care of by our excursion guide and everyone that was there to guide us throughout the day. This tour was such a highlight of my cruise, especially climbing Dunn’s River Falls. We had a non-ship excursion with Nativeway in Grand Cayman. Stingrays and snorkeling. Another fantastic day. Informative tour guides and really great interaction with the rays. Grand Cayman is now one of my favorite ports. Loved my Carnival Victory cruise. All of the entertainment that was part of the charter was amazing.   Read Less
