Wife wanted to go on her first cruise. So we decided to split the vacation. Sort cruise out of Miami then some time down in the Keys. Cruise started out bad with long 4 hour delay with everyone stuck in the port waiting building. Not allowed on the ship but in this terminal building which was way overcrowded, not enough chairs. People sitting on the floor, only 4 vending machines with one of them not working and the others soon empty. No communication as to what the hold up was or when we would be able to board. Ship was suppose to leave port at 4:30 but we managed to pull out of port at 10:30, well there went on sunset at sea. Now for the food. We ate three dinners in the dinning room and one at the buffet. Did not matter the food was just plain bad. Never once was it hot and at some points downright room temp. We usually ate the appetizer, salad and picked a bit at the poorly made main course. Also if we had a baked potato had to ask several time to receive butter or sour cream which of course potato was not warm enough to even melt. Also days of class must be gone on Carnival. On so called "Elegant dress night" we put on the decent slacks and jacket and the wife a nice dress. Guess most of the guests did not get the memo. Since most were in shorts tanks and less. But since half of your dinner the staff is singing happy birthday or happy anniversary at the top of the off key lungs, what does it matter anyway. We tried the buffet one night and it was if anything even worse, and you had folks who looked like they had not missed many meals but seemed to be of the mindset that this one was there last. The activity's we really not good. They had trivia in a lounge which seemed like it may be fun, until I went and seen that the host could not speak English well enough for anyone to understand the questions. The "house band" I actually took a photo of just so I could show my buddies what the worlds worst cover band looks like. The room was fine. One of the closet doors was falling off but when we told staff the third time someone came in a fixed it. Ship itself is ok but a bit tired around the edges. Noticed some of the hot tubs closed down and looked like they had been for some time. The good. Staff were great, did what they could with what the ship has. The comedy show was really very good (be warned it is adult and somewhat crude) but very funny. If we ever cruise again it will not be with carnival Read Less

We live 30 minutes from the Port of Miami so we drove to port and parked there. Embarkation was super fast since since We are Platinum VIP. As soon as we boarded the ship, we checked out our cabin, then headed for lunch on the Lido deck. We booked a balcony for this trip which was very spacious. I have sailed on this ship 3 times(in 2004, last summer, and now) This ship is in great condition and looks as new as it did back then. All of the crew members went above and beyond for all of the passengers. It was great to see my former room steward last year promoted to Casino bar bartender. Also the Casino Bar Band was the same that I had sailed with last year on the Liberty. It was great seeing them. They're amazing. There are so many fun activities scheduled. The entertainment staff and Cruise Director, Marcelo, are Carnival's Best. They're so funny and so much fun. The singers and performers are the best that I have seen on any ship. They still have the Production shows on this ship which I love. The food is delicious and there is a lot of variety even though they don't have the 2.0 upgrades. We had any time dining. Everything in the dining room was delicious, and the service was excellent! In Key West, we took the Conch Trolley Tour which we loved. In Cozumel we booked a Wave runner(jet ski) and snorkeling tour. We loved it! The tour guides stay with you the whole time to make sure that you feel comfortable operating it. I highly recommend sailing on this ship. It is the perfect size and it is very well maintained and taken care of. The service food, and entertainment were Excellent! Read Less

I had never been on a cruise before. Overall, this was an amazing vacation. Food in both the Lido & MDR were great, the MDR was by far better. Our cabin was very nice. Everyone we came in contact with was friendly & helpful! Alchemy Bar was the best bar on the ship! The casino was fun. There was a main pool area where the party seemed to be and then an adults only pool that was much quieter and laid back. There was mini golf, movies on the big screen, a waterslide, and so much more. Getting off & on the ship was smooth & we didn't run into any issues. Read Less

My husband and I were first time cruisers and after taking this cruise are also last time cruisers. It started out with total chaos trying to board the ship....no one knew what they doing and we got a different answer from every employee we asked. Once on the ship, we went to our balcony room (Deck 11). What an extreme disappointment! The room was super outdated, the faux leather couch was faded, worn, and stained as was the small table in the room. The counter areas all had a white powdery dust-like substance covering them. The bathroom sink had rusty overflow holes and a broken, rusty towel bar. The sheets and towels were grayish, had thin spots, and even stains. One towel had a bright pink make-up stain on it! The rooms have no refrigerators, no ice buckets, and small safes. (Don't expect to fit any larger electronics in the safe ie. laptops). The room looks nothing like the pictures on Carnival's website for balcony rooms (deck11) on the Victory. No flat screen TV's, it's a small outdated TV with a poor picture. The food was a great disappointment. The breakfast buffet is filled with tasteless mostly cold food. The juice (lemonade or orange) in the self-serve machines is so thick and syrupy that we couldn't drink it. The Pacific dining room offers a sit down breakfast. It has slightly better quality food, but the waitress messed up my husband's order and therefore he watched me eat, and then I watched him eat. It takes a long time to get your breakfast in the dining room, esp. when they mess it up. Lunch was terrible. You get the same buffet choices every day....hot dogs, chicken fingers, burgers, fries, or Chinese food. They do have cold cuts, but they are thickly cut and very low quality as is the rest of the food. My burgers had grizzle. They had a carving area as well. I took a picture of my slice of turkey and will post it if I can. It has purple globs of nonedible meat. For dinner, we ate in the Atlantic Dining Room. The chicken breast, which is an option every night, is actually a pressed piece of chicken....like the consistency of a cheap chicken nugget, not a real chicken breast. It had fatty/rubbery spots that were disgusting. The desserts in the dining room were the only food that were good. If you want a better piece of steak, expect to pay $20/pp for a filet. I did not do this, so I can't comment on it. Room Service is included, but don't count on it. We used it twice and both times it took way longer than they said (over an hr.) and the food/drinks (coffee/tea) were cold and not drinkable and the fruit was dried out. The ship has many smoking areas that are VERY smoky and in areas that the general population will have to use or at least walk through often. We saw smoking in non-smoking areas as well, and the staff did nothing about it.....unfair to non-smokers. The ship overall is in need of updating in many areas. The fitness center is very nice and clean....the bathrooms in there are way nicer than the bathrooms in the upgraded cabins. The staff, for the most part was nice and friendly. Overall, this cruise was a total disappointment....not enough good entertainment options....I don't call lots of hip-hop dance parties with very loud music or hairy chest contests fun. And forget a ton of BINGO, add some more diverse activities that don't cost money. The food was very low quality, the cabins were nothing like they advertise. They were old, outdated, and dingy. We feel like we got ripped off for the money we paid versus the quality we received. We will never take another Carnival cruise. Read Less

While I was on the ship everything was good but getting to the ship from FLL we took the carnival shuttle and was charged double what they told me I would be charged. Getting on the ship was kind of long but not terribly long. The dining was ok but I was on vacation and dont like having to dress nice in order to eat in my assigned dining facility everynight. Shorts and tshirt should have been good enough. Unlimited list of things to do on the ship. That was good. My room was nice and clean everyday. Tne gym was advertised as state of the art. Wasnt that but was ok. Getting off the ship once we got to jamaica and caymons could have been done a lot better. Next time I will just wait for a few hours before I get off to avoid the traffic jam of people trying to get off. Once you get off you have no problem getting a tour bus. I wouldnt ever pay for an excursion through carnival. You can get find a better deal once you get off the boat. The thing a got more upset about is when we got back to miami. They tell you that you can tag your bags the night before so they can come get them from your room and take them off the boat for you or you can carry your bags yourself. Common sense would tell them that people can get off the boat faster and easier if tney didnt have to carry their own bags. Well they thought the opposite and let the people who are carrying their own bags to have priority getting off. They should have also let people who that had a flight out get out early. Customs cleared the ship at 9am. I finally got off the boat about 11am and had to wait in a long customs line, made our way to the carnival shuttle a little after 12 to find out that the shuttle wasnt leaving for another 40 minutes. The ride to the airport was 45 minutes long and so I missed my flight. There should be multiple shuttles for carnival that dont wait so long to run. Read Less

There were both good things and bad things about the Carnival Victory and the excursions... but hey it was my 25th Anniversary and we decided to focus on the good, fun things. Unpleasant things happen all the time, it's how you and the people around you handle them... Pros - The Staff - Pretty darned good. Anytime we had a problem we asked in a polite way and it was addressed and fixed. Example - our phone did not have a directory on it so we didn't have any way to know how to call for our steward, etc... we just asked for it to be fixed - boom, it was fixed. Lots of smiles and happy greetings. Dining Staff - our staff was exceptional - They ALWAYS greeted us by name and definitely tried to remember our likes and drink choices. If they are good tip them extra the last night. The Food - No it was not a 5 star restaurant, but it was good. Much better than and lower end chain restaurant - AND YES they prepare everything on the ship. We toured the kitchens and saw them making everything from scratch. If you have a problem send it back - THEY WANT YOU to enjoy your dinner! The Room - we had an aft balcony room - Get it! double the balcony space. Lots of closet space, bathroom was plenty big. The Love & Marriage Show - this is very good, go watch it, lots of fun! Room Service - we called for coffee and breakfast snacks every day - it was always right on time. Cons Buffet lines were long. We avoided the buffet except for the first day - and there is a way to avoid the buffet lines (read on to the end) Comedy Club - Okay the show was hilarious, BUT what they don't tell you is that if you get there early and there is another event going on like Karaoke, they will make everyone leave and get in line for the show - this was crazy, there were 500 people in line, they should have put it in the main theater instead! The Sports Bar - go early if you plan on watching football on Saturday or Sunday. The bar is small and fills up quickly (really Carnival? You had 3 bars closed that you could have open for football, you lost a lot of beer sales) The Elevators - they seemed to just fly by and randomly stop whenever they wanted to... they never made sense. Tips FASTER TO THE FUN - this is listed as an excursion but it really isn't. What this does is gets you and your entire room moved up... basically after the Platinum and Gold members you get in line... we were boarded and in line at the lunch buffet and had seconds before there was even a line. Gets your luggage to your room faster and if you need a tender you get priority. Also on the last day you can be one of the first to disembark. It is well worth the money. AVOID THE BREAKFAST BUFFET LINE - do the seaday brunch or sit down breakfast. No lines, great selection. READ YOU DAILY BULLETIN - there is a lot going on, read it cover to cover. It has lots of tidbits on it. Important stuff!   Read Less

This was my first cruise with my sweetie and it was the worst vacation experience I have ever had. We are heavy travelers and one of our favorite spots to go for excitement is Las Vegas Cesar's Palace. We were recommended to take Carnival Cruise because of it being all inclusive, great entertainment, and plenty of excursions. Well, where do I Start: 1. FOOD - I fancy myself a chef and the food was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! The outside buffet with the lukewarm burgers, hotdogs, chili with nacho chips and cheese, deli sandwiches, and tasteless pizza. REALLY! The IHOP would have been better than this. The Dining area menu was just as bad. And if someone would have told me that the menu is pretty much the same day by day, I would have opted out. After the 2nd day, I was done with Carnival Cruise. 2. QUARTERS - The room I was booked in was a room with no port hole or window. It was tight and dingy. And the best thing about it was the towel animals we found on our bed every night. ENOUGH SAID... 3. SHIP - A DISASTER! The music was too loud. The constant playing of the LEGO movie was miserable. The pool was too small and the slide looked forced in and dangerous. The 2 little shops they had were pretty much money traps with nothing really that interesting in them at all. IN MY OPINION, CARNIVAL VICTORY IS A SHIP FOR A LOWER END BUDGET PERSON THAT JUST WANTS TO SAY THEY HAVE BEEN ON A CRUISE. NEXT TIME, I WILL BE GOING WITH ROYAL CARRIBEAN. MY FIRST CHOICE. Read Less

Sorry for the length, just bare with me if you choose to keep reading haha. This was my first cruise with my fiancee and it was exciting....for the first day. Still had fun just was bored sometimes. We live in Fort Myers which is only 2.5 hours away depending on traffic so we decided to drive as it would be pointless to fly and there weren't any flights from here to Miami anyways so that would be pointless. The drive was fine until we hit Miami and the construction that was going on didn't help as I had never driven to Miami before, and neither did my iPhone with directions but we all now how helpful those things can be. After driving all that time my transmission temperature light came on and my car went into "limp mode" so I couldn't accelerate and pretty much slowed down on its own. GREAT!!! I did NOT need this in the middle of Miami traffic but I got lucky and pulled over by an exit and just waited for my car to cool down and then we were fine. That didn't happen on the way back from Miami luckily. It is definitely very stressful getting to the Port if you've never been there before, next time I think we will try to leave out of Ft. Lauderdale or Port Canaveral. Embarkation: getting onto the ship was really easy and fast. It took us maybe 15-20 minutes to board and then we just hung out waiting to go to our room. Cabin: We booked a balcony room, 1018, and it was very nice. We didn't receive our cabin number until the day before sailing because we chose to do the cheapest option for Florida residents and they will pick your cabin, but that's okay because we had a great room. The bathroom was clean, shower was kinda small (we are a little on the large size ;-) ). The tv wasn't a flat screen but to me the cabin is just a place to sleep so I didn't plan on spending a whole lot of time watching tv in there anyways. Our room steward, Louie, was great we didn't meet him until after the safety drill and he was very nice, and remembered our names and always said hi to us in the hallway. The bed was comfortable and the balcony was really nice. WE enjoyed being able to sit outside. Service: The service aboard this ship was great. I never had a rude crew member or heard anything bad from other passengers. Our head waitress Sanja was amazing and fast! Bartenders were courteous whether i was buying an alcoholic drink or using my "bottomless bubbles". (I had heard that sometimes waiters or bartenders would be a little less enthusiastic about serving people who have the bottomless bubbles because there is no tip, I did not have that problem) Food: The buffet food was something to be desired. There were some food that was okay and some that was just bad or bland. The 24 hour pizza was bland and tasteless but I ate it nonetheless because I am a pizza fanatic haha. The deli where you can order a hot or cold sandwich was OKAY. I would only order the corned beef and pastrami sandwich because it was the only one I actually liked. The main dining room food was excellent compared to the buffet. I tried something new every night since I made it a goal to try some foods I don't normally eat. Granted sometimes the food was a little on the cold side but eh I didn't complain the taste kinda made up for it. We sat next to an amazing couple, Craig and Laura, who were from New York and we enjoyed eating dinner with them, very nice people. Entertainment: The entertainment is where you can tell they cut some corners to give you a cheaper cruise. The first main show "Living in America", was not that interesting at all. I actually started to fall asleep in my chair I was so bored. The schedule had maybe 2 or 3 timing conflicts with other items on the schedule; i.e there may have been two activities that you wanted to go to but overlapped each other so you;d be missing some of one or the other. On our second Sea Day my fiancee was actually bored and honestly I was too. The activities that we did try to go to were lame and no one really participated. I did use the casino, (for the first time now that I'm over 21 I can play table games), I unfortunately spent maybe a little TOO much time in the casino, but it was vacation money to be spent however I wanted anyways so no harm no foul, I made $143 on slots anyways :-) Excursions: We took an ancient culture and mayan ruin tour excursion. It was a tour on a bus that took us around the island of Cozumel and then to some mayan ruins. The bus's A/C wasn't working properly so it was a little warm in the bus and after walking around the ruins was a little disheartening but we did get a free bottle of water though so that helped a little. The ruins themselves seemed a little....I don;t know how to say it, kinda "eh" I guess would be it. They were "reconstructed" by the archaeologists from different universities in America so to me they didn't really seem "authentic". They were still real ruins, but to me just not that exciting. Maybe if we went to Tulum we may have had a better time. People: I don;t know if there's a whole lot to say about the other passengers but I did want to point out that on this ship there were a good amount of kids. Not enough to be overwhelming but how some of the kids acted, it makes you wonder if their parents taught them any manners? I had maybe 1 or 2 issues with children but that was because they had cut me in a food line or were just being rude. During the elegant night we had our photos taken and at one station there were these obnoxious teenage boys who just made a mockery of the whole thing and weren't even dressed up appropriately. You could tell that the photographer was annoyed. They just made stupid faces and poses and I found it very rude. The point of the pictures was to have a nice professional photo done while you were all dressed up. And some other passengers were just rude in general and it makes you wonder. I'm only 23 and sometimes I think I have more class than the older passengers who just don't care and have no manners. Prices: The prices on the ship for things were to be expected, and by that I mean it's a cruise ship and you're on vacation so they are going to make everything more expensive, just like if you went to Disney or Seaworld. It's really easy to just hand over that Sail and Sign card without really thinking twice about how much you just spent. We spent over $700, correction, mostly IIII spent over $700! Things add up very quickly if you're not careful. My fiancee wanted to get a massage and since we were on vacation and she never had one I said sure why not. I told her try to keep the package she picked below 150 since we were already racking up charges like crazy she said okay and picked the $149 package.....yeah haha. After her massage she tells there that the price didn't include a 15% gratuity. Excuuuuse me? That wasn't written anywhere so the massage was actually $179 >. Debarkation: Getting off the ship was actually fairly simple. I was surprised. We did "zone luggage", that's where they take your luggage the night before and then they call you by zone to debark. Well that was definitely a dumb idea. We had to wait for our zone to be called and then we had to wait for our luggage to come around on the belt and our luggage belt had 5 other zones on it along with ours. WE will definitely do self assist next time, we could have been out of there way sooner! Going through customs was easy, as long as you filled out your paperwork and had your ID in hand and ready to go, no problems. Parking ended up being $80 for the 4 days. So for being our first cruise we still had some fun and got experience a new place, there were SOME drawbacks but we dealt with them. Your vacation is what you make of it and we wanted to have a good time so try not to let stuff bother us too much. I think we will try a different cruise line just because we feel that Carnival has the least amount of entertainment compared to other lines based on what other passengers told us. But we will go on it again if we happen to be part of a group or something, cruising is fun and hey it's a vacation where there's free food! Read Less

So I'm no longer a cruise virgin. I had nothing to compare this cruise with. Yes, it was a smaller, older ship evident in the need of some paint but in no way changed my cruise for the worse. This was a girls vacation to include about 8 of us. The weather was absolutely incredible even though we went during hurricane season. The seas smooth as glass except for our last day at sea but still you could barely feel it was a tad rougher. The crew were pleasant and never had one problem. Our room crew noticed we had brought a cooler for our beverages and refilled with ice daily before we even requested it. When you get a bunch of people together, everyone has their own way they like things so the fact that 2 of us preferred the buffet and the rest sit down dinner it all works out. We all went when we were hungry and met up later. Food was very good and plenty of it. Lobster and filet during capt's dinner was delicious. My favorite time was getting a pizza (made right in front of you and extremely good) at 12 midnight and going up to our balcony and watching the stars. With no ambient light of any islands, the stars were out by the billions!. The only issue I would say I had, and I believe it is because it was a smaller ship and a 5 night cruise, was the fact that there was no specific pool for adults only. They did have a serentity deck with hot tubs, but in the hot sun, you don't want to sit in a hot tub. There were so many children ( I guess because it was a short cruise even though school was NOT out on vacation), The parents took no responsibility of watching them. They would splash you and jump over your feet and the parents would be oblivious drinking and eating somewhere. (added note: 2 days into the next cruise, a 6 year old drown on this ship - like I said PARENTS DO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR WATCHING THEIR OWN CHILDREN) I am already planning another cruise for 2014 and this time a longer one and hopefully on the Breeze which is one of the largest. My understanding is the Victory is not on dry dock getting a an overhaul and new facelift. Read Less

This was our very first cruise so we didnt know what to expect. We wanted to try a smaller ship at first thinking a larger ship would of been too intimidating. The embarkation went very smooth. Similar to a airport we had multiple check points to go through security etc. Once we got on the ship we were told to go to Lido Deck for buffet lunch. The first day or two in Lido it was quite hot and uncomfortable there. Extremely long lines anywhere to get food. waiting atleast 15 minutes to even see the food. The quality was not what we expected. A little over cafeteria food. We quickly found the best places to eat were to have omelettes for breakfast made for you. Pizza for lunch which was also made fresh for you. My husband enjoyed the hunks of meat they had at the lido deck for each meal and the sides were hit or miss. The meals in the dining room were also hit or miss. Most if not all lacked seasoning some were super bland while others tasted old. Along with the food quality, the service too forever!! we had the late seating for dinner at 8:15 and didnt get out of there till past 10pm. We went the first two nights but after that ended up getting pizza or eating at the buffet. You would miss the shows if you try and eat in the dining room. The pools were all super crowded full of screaming kids so we ended up staying on the serenity deck hanging out in the hot tub or lounging in the cabanas up there. in the evenings we went to the piano bar. that was a lot of fun! theres a guy there playing a piano with everyone sitting around him singing along and bs'ing with him and the other cruise ppl. The club was a little to packed for us so we stayed away from there. The only shows we caught we caught were the marriage show, talent show and karaoke which we loved all of them. We walked into one of the performances, born in the usa and it was a tad too cheesy for us. As for drinks, were weren't planning on buying the $50 pp/pd but ended up doing so. If your planning on drinking more then 4-5 drinks a day then you reach $50 pp so its worth if if you drink more then that! Most days we did. Overall we had a great time. the ship is definitely old and needing a remodel. especially the bathrooms. wow. it was definitely clean and you can tell the staff works really hard to make sure it stays clean. Next time we want to try a bigger ship with more things to do while at sea. Read Less

- Arrived at the ship terminal and stood in line for almost 2hrs. Not knowing if this was normal, myself and my two teenage daughters quietly stood waiting to hear what the holdup was. We eventually received a letter for a Carnival rep indicated that the ship was going through a thoroughly cleaning due to a gastrointestinal outbreak on the previous cruise. At that moment, sheer panic came over me as I was about to board for a 5 night cruise. I can thankfully say even though our first and last cruise was not a good experience, my family and I didn't get sick. I think the use of our bottle of sanitizer every few minutes helped. - The first morning I walked out of my cabin at 7am to overwhelm by the odour of marijuana coming from the cabin beside ours. I immediately found security/management and reported the incident. Sadly my complaints of the illegal activity went on and on, day and night for the entire cruise without security getting involved. Due to the configuration of the cabin and how small the cabins are there was no escaping the odour of marijuana. - First day at sea was extremely disappointing. My daughters and I searched for one hour to find a sun lounger. My idea of sitting 2 inches from other people was not what I envisioned. I asked the staff if there was a part of the ship that we were missing to find some place to seat to enjoy the sun. Unfortunately there wasn't any free space. We finally pulled up a piece of the floor and laid on our towel, hoping not get stepped on. - Even though my girls were not young, I felt sorry for families that had young children. There was no safe pool that they their children could play in without partying young people acting very inappropriate and the concern about some drunken person jumping on their child. I watched as security stood by and ignore all this behaviour. Overall, a cruise vacation is not for my family. I realize that it was Spring Break and therefore I am sure that the amount of alcohol abuse and wild behaviour was due to this time of year. However, I was not empress with Carnival's lack of security in the control of the passengers. On a positive note; I can say that the staff in the Dining room and our cabin steward were extremely helpful and pleasant. The ship was very cleaned for the most part. I hope my review helps those that are thinking about a cruise and Carnival Management with their rules and policies with respect to security. Read Less

I was extremely excited about this cruise. I knew everything about the ship before i got on. I was very disappointed with the outcome. We first got there and the people helping us on board were jerks. When we got on board we met our room steward and tipped her. Then that night we got a new one and had to tip him too. He was very rude. he got mad at me for coming in while he was cleaning my room. Most of the bartenders were inclusive to certain people and served us after every one was gone. One of my biggest pet peeves was that their first language was not English. You could hardly understand anyone. The food was adequate. The 24 hour pizza was horrible and took forever. Room service was limited. For a cruise line, the food was a little limited. there was breakfast till 12, then lunch till 2:30, and that was it until 5:45. Pizza, ice cream, and room service were the only other thing s you can eat. The buffet was am-mature. The Asian cuisine part, however, was authentic and delicious. Every once in a while, the dining room food did not taste good. At 12:00 the grill opens back up for 2 hours. The ship was gorgeous. There was so much to do. I had such a great time with family. The youth program were well organized as well as the shows and casino. The Only problem I had was my mom kept on getting lost. They need people everywhere to direct people to places. So overall, The service was horrible, the food was adequate, and the ship was beautiful. I enjoyed the ports. I also enjoyed family time. Read Less
