We chose this cruise because it was on dates that fit into our inflexible travel schedule and the price was right. It was me, my wife our two young daughters (6 & 3) and my mother. We had an ocean view suite and a neighboring standard stateroom. Accommodations: The suite size was okay. The balcony was very nice. The furnishing were worn but serviceable. However, we immediately noticed a septic stench in the room that made the room far less appealing. It got worse so we notified our room attendant. It got better once he addressed it but soon returned. Then, the floor tile in the bathroom started cracking and raw sewage started seeping up from under the cracked tile grout. Rather than relocate us, they insisted on fixing the issue. Each fix was a bandaid and the issue kept returning. It was disgusting! I finally insisted they move us but they said," just let our plumber see if they can fix it". It was just another temporary fix and septic stench and the seeping sewage came right back. The ship is old and feels it. The on board entertainment was virtually unwatchable. The child care camp was glorified babysitting. The food was mediocre and uninspired. The pools were drained multiple time for "unsafe bacteria levels". We complained and they credited us $50 off our final invoice and offered us $250 credit toward another cruise. We gave Carnival a chance to make this right and they would not step up. Just a really really really terrible experience. Never will I choose Carnival again and my wife was so traumatized she's just turned off to cruises in general now. Read Less

If you want to experience the worst cruise ever, come aboard. If not, STAY AWAY!!!! The FOOD - TERRIBLE, the ROOMS-SMALL... the SHIP IS SMALL!!! And the staff is RUDE. In all aspects, this cruise is terrible. It is sad that we spent so much money on below-standards food and service. And they charge for everything. The food is disgusting and poor quality, and the staff seems to be unhappy and lacking enthusiasm. Expanding on the food, the truffle aioli is loaded with mayonaise, the prime rib is always medium rare no matter how you ask for it, our mac and cheese was served cold and smaller than a kids portion... I will never come back on this cruise ever again. I will never go on a Carnival Cruise again. And if you are reading this review STAY AWAY. I am embarassed that I went on this cruise and will never give them my money again. Read Less

this is my 6 cruise and I have to said is the worst cruise ever, from the overall lack of cleanliness in the hallways, personal cabin, all restaurants and all areas around the cruise, dirty windows everywhere, sewage smell around the hallways, elevators and bars, , food is mediocre as best, terrible, always cold, no flavor at all, taste frozen, overcooked and re use , awful presentation, this goes for the buffet and sit down dinners, not to much interaction from the overall staff, slow service in all areas, lack of supervision or presence from either chefs, front of the house managers, officers etc checking the product, no sense of security, I report every night noisy neighbors in other cabins screaming and fighting each night and no one came to check on it, it was too many problems in the cruise with people misbehaving, bad language, screaming and no security was around to take control of the situation, I felt that I was in a wrong place all the time, no standards established at the sit down restaurant for people dressing in the main rooms, I saw people in tank tops, sandals, broken shorts and they let them eat there, people doing karaoke in their tables during dinner, making the ambience uncomfortable, I definitive will avoid Carnival Cruises moving forward and I strongly suggest to avoid this specific cruise Victory for a good , safe , relax vacation Read Less

We had 2 cabins. It was a lot of us and all with similar opinions. The food looked old tasted old and still had a frozen food smell. It was slimy. Very little options with the variety of foods. It looked like they just heated the same food everyday! The food at dinner was smelly meat, guey and the shrimp tasted old, the fruit was old and sour. We ordered and left everything in fear of getting sick! This was an issue everyday on board!! Honestly it was horrible to be hungry having paid thousands and cant even get a fresh meal. I felt trapped eating there. When we got of the ship, those were the only times we had good food. Not to mention our cabin stunk like musk and the prior occupants items were left behind. I mean c'mon I've been on the fascination and that ship gave us a better experience compared to this one. I will not travel with carnival again for a while because I'm afraid of wasting my time, money and possibly getting food poisoning and who wants that on their vacation!! Read Less

The service was horrible. The dinning room service took around 3 hours! There were lines for everything: food, vending machines, and even bathrooms. We had to walk around everytime, multiple times, to find sitting space. The "entertainment director" announcements were extremely annoying. On top of constantly promoting jewerly sales, they never announced the weather at the ports. We could hear people talking all night in the hallways from our room; we even could hear foot steps.  The staff were very slow, unhappy, rude, and uncaring. Multiple shows were canceled during our trip. Everything was very unorganized. We had to hikeup multiple staircases the first and the last day becuase they were closed up for Luggage transportation; never seen such a thing on any other cruise lines before. The ship layout was extremely annoying and not easily accessible! The ship smelled like fart everywhere. The ship was overall dirty. The food was cold and very low quality. The expensive wifi we paid for took around 20 minutes for one webpage to load.... On top of everything the DJ had maximum choice of 10 songs that was replayed every night of the trip thorough out different parts of the ship. This was our first time sailing on carnival; NEVER AGAIN. we have sailed with royal carribean before and it is comparing night and day. We had a horrible experience this past week; it was a nightmare and we could not wait to get out. Read Less

We went on the Carnival Victory March 20, 2017 out of Miami. This was a Christmas present for our family and our first cruise. The ship had a delay in boarding in for a few hours so they shuttled us to the Bayside Marketplace and back. We were on the ship for a day and then went to Key West. We bought a Key West excursion from Carnival but were not given the correct paperwork for it. We got our money back for the excursion. After leaving Key West on our way to Cozumel a man went overboard. We were told that the coast guard was not letting us go to Cozumel and in 2 days we would return back to Miami. My heart does go out to the mans family! Carnival gave us the money back for the Cozumel excursion, Cozumel port fees and taxes. The food at dinner was not good and the waiter assigned table was rude. The buffet was good but the lines were long. The elevator lines were long too. We ended up taking the stairs most of the time. Carnival did not plan any extra entertainment or activities so we went to the same ones a couple of nights in a row. Carnival offered to give us 20% off our next cruise if we take it in the next year. We feel that Carnival should reimburse more than 20% towards the next cruise. This was a very disappointing first cruise. Read Less

Before I begin I should put in a disclaimer that I did not really care so much about what cruise I was sailing on this time as my main intent was to meet up with some very good friends we hadn't seen in a while and friends of whom had booked it first and they were first time cruisers and we later joined in. This cruise is my 3rd. I first cruised on Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas to Jamaica and Haiti from Miami, and the second one and the best one was an Alaskan itinerary on the Silverseas Silver Shadow. So it was a no brainer that after the last intimate luxury ship experience in the breathtakingly gorgeous Alaskan itinerary, I would not be leaving good reviews for a loud and totally unrelaxing Carnival cruise. However I still swear I went on board with an unbiased and open minded attitude thinking it was a big ship, more activities on board, more bars and could be a great time. My husband was much more pessimistic right from the beginning. However to make things smoother for us, I had booked a verandah suite, with priority access to embarkation and got the Cheers beverage package; not because we wanted to get blacked out drunk but just so we didn't have to deal with the hassle of paying every time for a drink. First thing we noted: there were annoying and intrusive photographers literally every step of embarkation into the ship, or when you would try to step out on a port. For example, not one, or two, there were at least 6 at Cozumel. Some of these were ridiculously dumb photo backgrounds- a weird white towel elephant character, or a part of a railing of the gangway, etc. and of course you pay a fortune to buy them (if stupid enough to buy) . I was sucked into buying a few of our "cruise elegant" portraits- which were at least with a nice canvas art background, and we had a few good ones together with friends. Enough about the photographers. I should also say that our embarkation with the priority access was relatively easy - although the whole boarding process was delayed by 2 hours; at least they emailed us in advance about it. Next on board; staff members with glasses of rum punch standing around and shoving them toward you - and as soon as you pick it up they make you sign a 9 dollar check - and again I had the Cheers package so it was included - but it just made it feel like a trashy type of thing instead of feeling welcomed with a welcome drink as they would do on a classy cruise. But hey, I don't blame the cruise line either because most of the people I could see around were not the classiest and they were there to have a cheap getaway with unlimited food and booze and loud music. So they pretty much got what they wanted. Next thing; the lines at the lunch buffet at the poolside grill and Lido deck. The food looked unappetizing and it was a good thing we had a very good Peruvian meal before embarking so we skipped lunch. We relaxed in our cabin which was surprisingly better looking than I expected with wooden accents and a comfortable bed. Two twin beds put together to make the king but hey I am not complaining about that. Although considerably smaller than a suite would be expected ; and the balcony wasn't really impressive. Our steward Suardika met us and was a nice young man who was always smiling and offering to help; we didn't really ask for anything during the trip but it was refreshing to see someone come forward with smiles as a lot of the other staff really did not seem happy or friendly. I would say though that the girls at the Coffee shop or the Alchemy bar were very very nice and friendly and efficient. Especially considering the people they had to deal with day and night. We mostly avoided eating lunch buffets; breakfast was mediocre; the Huevos rancheros on the last day brunch was excellent. Dinners were not great; they did have an Indian vegetarian meal entree which was actually very good - and understably so as the food service manager and head chef were Indian- but surprisingly and disappointingly they did not have any Mexican food or South American or Asian inspired cuisines on the dinner menu. Prime rib was decent and some of the seafood appetizers and entrees were good. Desserts were good- the melting chocolate cake was very good. Drinks were ok; I liked the martinis at the Alchemy bar; Katarina makes a great vocktail. They had a sports bar with some craft or local beers and otherwise I had premium scotches which was actually included in the Cheers package, which was another pleasant surprise. The coffee shop was also very nice; we got our chai each morning and their Irish coffee or frappe drinks and milkshakes were excellent. What else? The gym- probably our favorite part; as it had no drunk, yelling, obese and obnoxious people . We ran on the treadmill everyday and did some strength and core workouts; they had a nice set of weights and machines and I enjoyed the rowing machine as well. The views could have been better ; and definitely lacked things like bottles of water/Kleenex tissues/ fresh fruits etc in the gym as good gyms usually have. That's another thing which was hard to find- trash cans or tissues- even in the public restrooms. Pools and sun decks - not my favorite place due to the type of people I mentioned earlier. (But I guess that's the average American population these days on cruises like this one) . Our room was conveniently located near the stairwell but unfortunately made the loud music float up every night and our sleep was very disrupted. One thing we enjoyed quite a bit was playing Blackjack and Craps with our friends at the casino. The casino was nice and large but very smoky. Smoke doesn't bother me very much for short periods but my husband caught a upper respiratory illness on board so it was annoying for him. Shore excursions- we actually had not planned this beforehand as it was nowhere comparable to an Alaskan itinerant as far as activities were concerned. Key west and Cozumel were the only ports; and one can drive from Miami to the Keys! We spent the morning walking on the streets and visited Hemingway Museum and climbed the lighthouse tower. At Cozumel we did do a last minute catamaran ride, snorkeling and beach party; saw stingrays and colorful fish and coral beach was great; free beers and margaritas and very nice staff. That was one of the best parts of the trip. Our ship staff did not seem well informed when we asked about activities or food options at the Cozumel port; they made it sound as if there was nothing there at all; when in fact there are several shops, restaurants and bars; albeit very touristy but not as barren as they made it sound. The white sand beach and pristine waters at Cozumel were the only time we actually were in our swimsuits ; I stayed away from the gross pools and whirlpool tubs in our ship which were always crowded. Even the adults only serenity area was crowded. In short- the theme of the cruise was a loud, obnoxious, obese, trashy crowd who got exactly what they paid for and I guess so did we; I feel bad for the workers and staff who come from other countries trying to make a living and work very hard to cater to the demands of this cohort of food wasting, drunk loud Americans. (There was this one man yelling profanities on his cellphone to someone outside my room one evening that a security guy had to be called to watch) Did I sound harsh and snobbish? Well maybe it is because I have had better travels and vacations and have out grown my days when simply getting drunk was great fun. (Our friends came here hoping to make it a family vacation with two little kids and their parents) and we are professional people with busy lives and not much patience for the type of people I described. So , last large cruise vacation for my husband and I - next time we do go on a cruise after some of the trauma fades away, it Silverseas or maybe I d try Regent Seven Seas; read some good things about that one. My husband wants to do an Antarctica or South American itinerary. I d like a Mediterranean cruise too. Hope this review helps some of you out there! Stay away from this if you want relaxation and class! Read Less

We chose the ship solely based on dates, length, itinerary, departure port. This ship was our only choice, we have friends who have sailed on Carnival (as had I in 1991) so off we went. In fairness, before my comments below, fellow passengers looked to be having a great time. We had a great time. I have some positive remarks about the ship: great ship coffee! Great fitness center equipment. I liked this ship's layout -- it was easy to get around. And free soft-serve DIY. We heard other complaints but that's of course not unusual for any cruise. Our other cruising -- about 20 cruises, have been on Princess mainly, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. We've never had service nor a ship like this. Not even close. Boarding in Miami. Free-for-all. Lines that were non-lines (several groups trying to merge into one) outside the terminal. We arrived at our scheduled board time and were in line outside for 45 minutes before getting in the terminal. (thankfully great weather). Indifferent staff gave conflicting information to questions, particularly about baggage that can be carried on. (For the record, the "answer" is in the information Carnival provides in its boarding documents.) Once through security, the cruise check-in staff, unlike all we've ever experienced in the past, could not have been more indifferent. Not a "welcome" not a happy face. Nada. OK, onto the ship. Room: It was ready when we got in at 1:30. But everything we'd read indicated the ship had been refurbished in 2015. The bathroom had a shower curtain that didn't keep the water from flooding (there was a drain on the outside). The sink was pink formica and the hairdryer one of those wall mounted "Elites" from the 70's hotels with a hose. Our sheets had a hole in the bottom, the towels were thread worn (and not fresh smelling) and the upholstery on the footstool was coming off. So big deal, right? It's 4 days, the forecast is perfect and we're going to some ports we're looking forward to. Muster Drill --this was the red flag that hit our radar screen. Totally disorganization. Lack of clarity on who was doing what. It took nearly an hour (we stood the entire time, as did elderly and mothers with babies). And that's with the new "no life jackets" policy, which should reduce time! We asked ourselves the obvious question: If they can't conduct the muster drill efficiently, what would happen in a real emergency? We are very low-maintenance on cabin stewards. Our guy showed up and asked what we needed and when. Great. But then he was pretty much AWOL. All we really want is ice in our bucket at the end of the day. We got our own ice two days out of four. We did get great towel animals about which we care zero. What I did care about is the anniversary $50n spa gift certificate didn't show up (it may have been under some cruise documents) until mid-cruise and the night I found it was the day it expired. (head of service insists it was there on time "take it up with Carnival". Dinner: First two nights, it took over 1/2 hour for our drinks and first courses to arrive, after ordering. This was remedied on the last night by the head bar staff member. Meals: Lines of 10 - 15 minutes for the regular buffet. Every time. Getting back on the ship first day of port: we stood outside the ship for 45 minutes. Sun was hot. Ship decided to send out the karaoke and pass out water. Why? "dock too small". Staff was low-energy and unengaged. This will be our last Carnival Cruise ever (even were one offered for free). Read Less

We had grandparents and a teenager and a 3 years old. Everyone had a good time. My mom (cabin 1394) wanted me to say Aminade cleaned their cabin very well. we have dinners in the Pacific Dinning Room every night. Our server team have been consistently so patient and nice to our table. I wrote down their name the last night to share it here as appreciation for making our dinner amazing experience. They are Roberto, I Komang and Suardinata. BTW, both Cabins are like brand new and sparkly clean with a mini fridge in each. We can store milk for our daughter's milk drinking at night and early morning. I was so happy about that. There were plenty things to do at both Key West and Cozumel. there was a lesson learned for the tour arrangement. We booked the Top 10 Cozumel. We were priority group left the ship first. We were the first group arrived at the tour waiting area. But the local guide who was holding the sign said our tour would be starting until 2:00pm. So we have 1.5 hours to wonder around. When we came back, we were told our tour left a time ago based on the time on the tickets. Basically, the local guide told us wrong time for some reason. So always trust the time on the tickets, not what they told you. Their English was not the best. In the end, we were refunded the money. Read Less

The wife and I chose this cruise for the destinations(Western Carib) and time (our anniversary). I must say that I will NEVER cruise with carnival again. From food than was one step above garbage to the constant hounding for money from the staff the cruise was enjoyable. It's been 17 years since I sailed with Carnival. I am amazed at just how far they have sunk in quality. Entertainment---- Horrible Organization of onboard events----- horrible 24hr Food------ had my choice of 4 pizzas, one even had paper thin pepperoni Regular food----- McDonalds puts out a better meal Spa---- 4 times the normal price Bar----- double the normal price Photographers hounding you to take pictures, then when we went to view our pictures only a couple out of the 50 or so that were taken could be found. Shopping----- Save your money and buy off the ship for much better deals. We were looking at a Movado watch for my wife. Best price on the ship $850. We found the same watch at Diamonds International for $480. This was consistent with everything sold on the ship. Read Less

Where do I begin. The embarkation process was long. It took almost a hour to get onto the boat. Once on the boat, we went to lunch. A friend that is allergic to tomato's asked for condiments without tomato's. The cook jut removed the tomato's and attempted to give to her. She is allergic, they can't touch the other condiments. When she asked for a fresh plate that tomato's hadn't touched, the cook sighed and gave her attitude. How do you have attitude, this early in a cruise. Thought it was a isolated incident but it wasn't. Some staff were cordial but I got a lot of attitude from several staff at various times, when asking just basic questions. As well as being given misinformation from some staff. This is my 5th Cruise, 3rd with Carnival and I have never experienced a staff like they have on the Carnival Victory and I don't mean that in a good way. My first cruise was 20 years ago and the muster station process ha not changed and I needs to. Once you have waited a hour to get on the boat who wants to stand on a hot deck again. If you are in the back you can't hear or see the demonstration. Once you enter your state room, the process is playing on the TV. Why not have everyone watch the process in their state room. Then at a certain time, do the procedure in hallway of your state room, have the cabin steward perform them and then show where the boats are and have the passengers sign waivers. There has to be a better process. This time 2 passengers passed out due to it being too hot. My first cruise 20 years ago, they had midnight buffets. That if you were sleep you woke up to go to the Midnight buffet because the food was so good and the presentation was so beautiful that if you didn't eat, you still wanted to see the beautiful presentation of the food with the ice sculptures and such. The food on the Victory, got worse every day. No variety. The buffets had the same thing every day. The dining room food was no better. Since when do they have a up charge for Surf and Turf. In 2012 that was our meal at the Captains dinner. So disappointed with the food. This site stated they have a Sushi bar. They don't have a Sushi Bar... The cabin was a great size. The windows were so dirty you could barely see out of them. Every other cruise, at ports the staff were always cleaning the windows as we went on excursions. Never saw that happen this cruise and all the windows around the boat needed it badly. During this cruise, the production stage was down. So there was NO production shows until the last day. The club atmosphere was cool. Comedy shows good. Not enough parties on the Lido deck, like I expected. Use to daily parites on that deck that include congo lines and engaging the cruisers. They were not enough planned activities Disembarkation was fast for self assist. A lot of cruisers were double billed for things on their bill. I saw a lot of complaints of this at the guest services desk. You are allowed to bring on some beverages and you can also purchase them online pre cruise. I like this feature but ended up leaving most and not being able to enjoy them because my cabin steward was never around and never left ice for the beverages to be chilled and the rooms have no mini fridges. On the first day, I asked my cabin steward to keep me with some ice so I could enjoy my beverages. That didn't happen. I don't keep a junky room so sometimes it was hard to tell if he was ever in the room. At one point, I had sand on my floor for 2 days. The service I received from my cabin steward, did not meet my expectations, at all. In order to receive a band aide, you were charged $1.25. $10 for a ace band aide. $60 if the nurse put it on. Kind of excessive. But I must say that a medical emergency occurred on this trip and the staff was very exceptional in this area. They may have saved some ones life. And for this I must commend them. Bless you for that. We did the Dunns River Falls excursion with Bobsledding. The only bad thing I can say is that it wasn't long enough. We had a ball at both and everyone we encountered was very friendly. On the Falls a person in our group was struggling and wanted to quit. Our guide was so good, he took her hand the rest of the way and make sure she was good as well as leading the rest of us. Can't remember his name but the number on his shirt is #34. He is the bomb. He will take care of you. The falls, can be intimidating but with him. I felt secure that he would get me to the top safely. Our video guy was Rory. He did a great job as well. How he can run the rocks is beyond me. He captured the moment, as I watch the tape, he got everything. Worth the $40, you want the video. Everyone lets you know that the vendors are aggressive but I didn't find them to be. They only wanted you to look at their items. If you said No Thank You, I didn't experience any aggressiveness. After the falls we decided to do a relaxing all inclusive beach excursion on Tiki Beach. Food was good. Especially the jerk chicken. We were offered a beach cabana with nothing for $85 then $50. We declined after last year getting a beach cabana with electricity, floating devices, a bottle of wine & fruit and your personal waiter for $60pp. Not sure if we were in rough waters but this boat rocked the whole times as if it needed new stablizers, I had never experienced this before. Carnival Victory needs a overhaul by no way did this cruise meet my expectations. Read Less

First Let me say please be an adult and not a troll and post ignorant replies just because you may like Carnival. I am posting my actual experience, as I have a right to like those that have positive experiences. There was so much that happened and too much to type that I have just reposted what I typed on facebook. The cruise sucked from the start. If this cruise would've just had a couple bad things about it I would probably try them again but it was screwed up from the start and lasted all throughout. Let me first say I'm referring to the Miami port with both cruise lines. First comparison, When you check in with Norwegian you flash your boarding pass at the door go through security then wait in a long line but you move fast because you have lots of staff available to check you in and give you your sail card. This takes about 10 minutes 15 tops. With Carnival you go and get into a long line with four people checking you in and wait for a long time then you go through security then there are two super long lines and not many people there to check you in to give you your sailing card and at the time there were three computers that had no one there to help people. total process was about an hour. To me it would be common sense to get rid of the first long line and use those four people in the second line to just check every body in at one time and give them their sailing cards. Why divide the process up into two lines? By the way prior to getting in all those freaking long lines I was told my luggage would be in my cabin in 30 minutes that was it 12:30, they couldn't find my luggage and I didn't get it until 6 PM. Back to boarding the ship, As we walk up the ramp everybody has a frown on their face. No one greets you as you're going aboard the ship and once you get one foot inside the ship there is someone with the tray of drinks and if you say you don't want one then they roll their eyes at you and mumble stuff. There was no one to be found to get directions from, with a lot of searching when you do find someone they are not pleasant and start to walk off while still talking. Norwegian on the other hand when boarding they have music playing and people dancing to welcome you aboard. I never waiting for my luggage more than 3 hours. Back to Carnival: Ryan and I drop our stuff off to our cabin. We were greeted to a clean room but when we pulled back the covers my bed had a pubic hair on it and Ryan's sheets had stains that looked like feces. I took pictures. We went to the upper deck buffet, they had music and the grill food was good, actually better than Norwegian's. We get our sheets changed. We don't do anything that first night because we were exhausted, angry and had headaches. But throughout the day we realized that even though I was on the upgraded floor and a great section I was unfortunate enough to be in the section with the scum of the earth. There were people talking loud, yelling loud, laughing loud and kids were running up and down the halls all times of the day and night. We first told our steward and they did get the one group of people to shut up for the first night but after that no matter if you reported it nothing got done. It was just loud, uncouth people acting like animals the whole cruise. Keep in mind I'm comparing The Norwegian Sky with comparable Carnival ship and the Carnival ship that I went on, "The Victory" I would say was supposed to be in a little higher class than the Norwegian ship that I'm comparing it to, even with that the Norwegian ship was much better especially with service. The food overall I would say was better than Norwegian. They had a better room service option but they did not serve pizza with room service which was disappointing. And I would have to say that even though Carnival did not have the other two specialty restaurants they offered a few extra things for the included price that was nice, so I'll give carnival the win for food that's included with your fare price. When we went to the safety drill, that was chaos, they had a section blocked off due to repairs so we had to walk in and out of the ship and were not properly directed to where we had to go which caused us to end up having to walk around the ship 2 times. And by the time we got the right freaking direction it had ended up being one dag on door down from where we originally started. Many people were angry about that. Service was horrible. Staff was very unfriendly, but our cabin steward was awesome. And the only other friendly people I encountered was two bartenders and the ship's buyer. Otherwise majority of the staff rarely smiled never greeted you nothing, it was just absolutely horrible service. I had read a bunch of feedback about that before I went, but I didn't know the extent of it and if carnivals getting this much bad feedback about the ship they need to hire different people. The decor in the clubs and the dining rooms were nice, and the decor in the state room wasn't too bad but the decor the main areas of the ship was very ugly, especially all of the ugly seahorses they had everywhere. They had a very pretty green ceiling that was nice but everything else is like a mix match. Norwegians the decor is not that much better but at least it wasn't mix matched, you had a constant flow of bad taste. The departure off the ship to go to ports was chaotic.and when we returned from the ports they just scanned us in no cold wet towels to wipe out faces or wipe our hands. With Norwegian when you come back onto the ship from a port they have either a DJ playing music for you or will have the music system on with people dancing, they have cold wet towels for you to wash your face, they have hand sanitizer, lemonade and water available before you board the ship. Back to Carnival. The direct tv was down, so no regular tv for half of the cruise. The ship rocking was really bad especially the last day. I know Carnival has no control of that, I'm just telling you everything that sucked. Some of the elevators weren't working during the whole cruise. But that wasn't a real problem until the very last day when we were trying to get off the ship. Shipmates weren't really friendly due to the type of people that were sailing. So I didn't get to have a lot of interaction like I've gotten on past cruises and get to meet people. Also it's normal to have a couple cabins smell bad on the ship but for half of our cruise the whole freaking floor smelled like poop, and two of the nights it was really horrible. Luckily I always carry air freshener with me when traveling. I'm sure there was more stuff I just can't remember it right now I'll add it if I remember. So all in all it was just absolutely horrible service very unfriendly people and scum that was just obnoxious and loud the whole trip. Having good service and a quiet cabin are two very important things when cruising. Now for the good things. It was nice having a variety for room service food options.. We enjoyed the karaoke, there were a couple of horrible singers that made us laugh. Then there were two especially this one girl that should have recording contracts. I should've videotaped them. The German guy and the Russian girl bartenders hooked me up with my drinks. We spent a little time in the casino but even there we got ripped off because in the coin dozer game the coins fell down but didn't come out. I can't think of anything else that was good on the ship he only redeeming things from the ship were the excursions that I booked. If it were not for the excursions off the ship I would've been extremely angry about blowing that much money on the cruise for it to be so crappy, especially since it was my son's first cruise and was part of a graduation gift for him. In Jamaica we got an all inclusive day resort pass which included all you could drink rum punch, water, sodas, beer and barbecue that had incredible jerk chicken and burgers, hot dogs Jamaican potato and cornbread. The water was clear blue and a perfect temperature. It was super hot there and Ryan got burnt and I got dark. They had Jamaican music and dancing and games. There are a lot of people there that were very intrusive about you buying stuff from them but the people were all in all very friendly they were the friendliest people out of all the people for the whole cruise and that was definitely our favorite stop and we had a lot of fun there. We got to Grand Cayman and it was cloudy and raining off and on luckily I had not booked the beach resort there but I always wanted to go to the Grand Cayman beaches so when Lauren and I go back in April I will probably do the resort thing there. The people in Grand Cayman were super unfriendly, it was like the crew members got off of the ship and start working in all the stores in the Cayman Islands. But the exception to that was the people that conducted our excursion for swimming with the stingrays, they were very fun, very nice, gave good instructions and told us a lot of history about the islands and the ocean habitat. It was just so neat to be able to take a boat out into the middle of the ocean and stand on the sandbar and swim with the stingrays, we really enjoyed that. We were able to hold the stingrays, we kissed them, we got a back massage from them and fed them. So that ended up being a very nice excursion as well. All in all the Caymans were not what I expected. More than the waste of money, it broke my heart for my son to be so excited for his first cruise, then hear him tell his friends how horrible it was. In conclusion the Carnival Victory ship sucks big time. We enjoyed shopping and the excursions. Jamaica was the best. I can't wait to go back to Norwegian and sail on the Epic in April and I will probably try Royal Caribbean because I have heard so many good things about them from people that have sailed with many different cruise lines.   Read Less

I planned our first long trip away from our son to come on this cruise with My husband. I had heard many horror stories recently, even from my own parents, who had just gotten off a 10 day Carnival Cruise in April and had air in their cabin only ONE DAY - Carnival refused to move them, fix it or anything else. I thought this cruise was short enough to be good and have great service. I must say, this was NOT the case. Overall, this was not only the worst cruise I have personally ever taken, it shows me that the Carnival line itself is one I never want to cruise with. My mother in law is a cruise travel agent, and I have already made it abundantly clear that this year, for all three annual family cruises, she will have to put us on different cruise lines, because Carnival is just not happening again. 1. the quality of food was terrible- I understand, mass produced food is usually mediocre at best, but the problem is, On day 4, My steak was actually spoiled. I asked for a new piece, and when that piece was spoiled too, I went up to the lido deck and just got grilled veggies and put them on a bun. 2. The service was terrible. Each night, we would order dessert at our table for dinner, along with coffee. 1 night we got coffee AFTER finishing dessert, 2 nights we never got it at all and by day 4 we knew better then to even try and order- so we opted to go up ourselves to 9 and get them. On the last day, we could not stomach the dining room again and just ate up at the lido deck- where i got pizza and my husband got the same. 3. The room steward was not only not attentive, he could not understand ONE word I said and vice versa. I asked for numerous things while there, never once did it actually get done- these were small things, I asked for ice, never got it, i asked for directions, not correct, i asked for guidance on something within the ship, he told me to go to guest services. On day one of the cruise, my steward came and introduced himself. I tipped him $20.00 up front and expected good service, as I have done this countless times on other cruises- this is unfortunately NOT what happened and instead I felt like I was treated worse. 4.The ship offered very little variety of anything- the deck constantly had RAP music, as did most other bars on the ship- there was a blues type bar that had a great guy singing on the first night. we sat in there and enjoyed it so much. the next evening we went back, expecting something similiar, but instead there was karaoke. In fact, there was karaoke the rest of the cruise each night in that bar. We were unable to find anything worth while except the last night's comedy show as far as entertainment. 5. I am not a big stickler for decor or anything of the sort, but if you are, you will have issue with this very old, dingy decor. 6. They took out the sushi bar, but still have it on the map. no biggie, except every person working on the ship directed us toward different places they "thought it was" and come to find out (only after going to guest services.... it does not exist anymore) Generally the staff seemed like it was their first day on the ship. The same thing pretty much happened with table tennis. it was supposed to be up top by the golf, but it was not. Guest services was confused and said they did not have table tennis, but it was on the information i received about the ship when I booked. They also had a table tennis tournament, but I was told that was a portable table that was not available to play on during regular cruising time. 7. The pools constantly stated on the TV "information screen" that they were 85 degrees, indicating they were heated. They were not. They were ice cold the entire trip, while the hot tubs were probably more like 85 degrees, and not that hot at all. 8. Overcharges; Watch your bill. My husband and I went to the play room to have some friendly games a couple nights in the evening- one night we were charged for 7 games, when we only played 4, the next day, we were charged for 3 when we only played 2. We also were told they would give us a free phone call to shore when they messed up our cabin debarkation time. I had a car service scheduled and they would not accept it as proof of needing early debarkation, instead they offered a free phone call to try and change my car service- i couldnt, so i had to pay an extra 150.00 for him to wait for those extra 2 hours. - but my phone call was also not free and I was charged almost 6.00 9. Information in general.- there was no information really provided - for instance, the soda program, we knew nothing about it because no one mentioned it. I would have gladly purchased it, but once we found out on day 4 about it, we were not allowed to purchase it. This leads in to the cost of everything being extremely inflated with little to no specials. I am a cruising pro- usually around 6 a year, as my mother in law is a cruise travel agent- and i have never been on a ship where they charge as much for each thing and never offer specials. They had some spa specials, but if you didnt read the information packet, you never knew, which was fine, but just like the soda package, information should have both been announced and available in different parts of the ship. 10. Layout- This ship's layout is messed up. it is confusing and you can be lost within seconds. there are also no clear signs to lead you where you need to be. 11. Fitness room only open until 10pm ???? I just do not know what to say about this. it is ridiculous! Overall, this ship was a giant waste of money. We paid for the balcony room, but have had more space on the quick 2 day cruise we take out of PB. In fact, we enjoyed that cruise much more thoroughly a couple months ago, and would be more willing to go on that 3 times in a row before I ever stepped foot on Carnival again. I have already started working on our March cruise with my mother in law, as well as our April and July ones, and I am relieved that everyone has agreed we will not be going with Carnival.   Read Less
