They say that there's no such thing as a bad cruise. You're not at work. You're healthy and fortunate enough to afford such a luxury. But there are levels to these things. In case you don't want to read a novel here's the summary: Come with realistic expectations. There's a reason Disney and Virgin Voyages charge a premium. There's a reason Carnival doesn't, particularly on this ship. Walmart or worse quality of service in most areas. We had a great time but the deficiencies in operations, maintenance and staff were glaring. Bottom line- you get what you pay for. Overall I would have traded the balcony room on this ship/cruise and paid the same for interior on NCL or Royal and had a higher quality experience. The affordability of this cruise opens up cruising to a lot of folks, and that's wonderful. Unfortunately the bad experience may leave anyone with an actual option of who to cruise with to never willingly coming back. For some background we've sailed Carnival before and also, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian and Disney. My wife and our 10-year-old daughter stayed in an AFT extended balcony room on the 7th deck and were on the 4 night Caribbean to Key West and Cozumel. We'll start with the positive and go downhill from there. The Best Hunter Deblanc at Piano Bar. Hands down, most entertained I've ever been. We're from Vegas. We have no shortage of fun places and entertaining things to do. Hunter was biggest highlight of this cruise. If I we were on the fence between two cruises in future and he were on one of them, I'd pick that one. He's that good. Not your mother's piano guy. At least not after 1030pm. Extra awesome was the fact that he was making extra sure that the server Suresh was being taken care of and treated well by patrons. Outstanding in every way. The Pretty Darn Good Gym. Overwhelmed. Clean. Well stocked and exceeded expectation. Sauna being free, albeit aged, was also a plus. Adult's only deck area was nice and enjoyable, when the slide line wasn't full of kids that is. Above Par- Oswi & Ace our servers on our next to last night were the only meal time service that was above par. They were excellent. Everyone else was Walmart or worse. These guys stood out like a sore thumb they were so good and attentive. More Oswi's and Ace's and this cruise is a different level. My wife had two treatments at the Spa and said both technicians were excellent, particularly the massage therapist The Ok- Food options. For the price, the options of food was good. Not necessarily the quality, but the options were better than expected. Mind boggling Who puts a small sushi car next to the bar in a smokey casino?! The freshest, cleanest food available (for a $ too) and you stick it in an ash tray? We would have gotten sushi if it were anywhere else on the ship. Terrible decision. Busy lunch time as port time ended in Key West and there's one person at the very popular Pizza Pirate. A line of 10-15 people, myself included waited for 15 minutes without the lone employee so much as saying a word. A simple "I'll be with you as soon as possible" would have done wonders. This is the Walmart level stuff that was evident throughout the ship. The Bad Balcony glass was filthy. Like nasty. Beautiful ocean view only to be ruined by being seen through nasty, grimy lenses. Total shame. Curtains had holes and various questionable stains. Coffee, maybe a little blood. Who knows but they were nasty and since we had a balcony we saw the dirty curtains every time we stepped in/out to look at the dirty glass... I mean nice view. The Worse In hindsight I wish I would have said something at the time. After boarding we were waiting in Camp Ocean for our daughter to check it out and some middle aged white corporate lady with a British accent was belittling a camp employee. She made a comment about Carnival being a multi million dollar company while criticizing the employee. First off, you're saying that to a person making very little money during 9 month tour. Secondly, I've never reprimanded a subordinate in public. Doing what she did in front of customers who could clearly hear was very unprofessional. Left me with bad taste in my mouth. Read Less

Missed our flight after an 8 hour delay with no apologies or compensation, disgusting! This is how a corporate company treats it's customers? Sad. We incurred $1000 extra of expenses for this and I would think twice about sailing Carnival ever again! The ship was chaos trying to get a phone line or internet, never did. Most people very upset as family and friends were waiting in Miami not knowing where the ship was or what happened. Carnival needs to do the right thing and offer each person on that cruise 50% off their next cruise otherwise people will think twice about cruising Carnival again. Everything else on the ship was great, sad they treated people like that on the last day. Condolences to the family of the deceased passenger. Customer service on the ship was very poor with regards to this incident. Not even sure why ship went back when the Coast guard was handling the situation. Room and dining service was good, liked the new menu. Cruise was good up until the last night. Read Less

We booked this cruise after talking to a travel agent and weighing options. I have three children- 10 years, 7 and 1. We wanted something family friendly as we were traveling with a one year old. My kids love to swim, even the 1 year old and we knew we would spend our time at the pools and hot tubs. Well we learned when it was too late that if your kid is not potty trained they cannot go in the pools- even in a swim diaper! This was strictly enforced and the life guards stopped us before we could get in the water on day one. There were NO activities for our one year old. There was a playground he could play on but wasn’t made for kids younger than 5. He obviously played on it but we had to watch him to make sure he didn’t fall off the sides. The location of the playground was tough as it was on the side of the ship and windy which made it cold. Basically our family was divided the entire time as my husband and I had to take turns walking the baby around inside because our baby would cry if he saw water and wanted to get it and couldn’t. We spent a lot of time walking up and down stairs as my one year old found that amusing. We were able to do a Dr Seuss read along play that lasted 30 minutes maybe. There was baby sitting offered but for added money only and honestly I just spent a ton of money getting on the cruise and wasn’t going to pay more for him to sit in a room with someone he didn’t know and honestly this was supposed to be a family trip where we are together doing stuff! There was a kids playroom for kids to play that were signed up for their camp program and I asked if I could take my baby in there and stay and play with him and they told me no I couldn’t do that. I asked for options for him then as he couldn’t swim and couldn’t be in the playroom and they told me there weren’t any options. There were staff on the ship that didn’t know babies couldn’t enter the pool yet when I questioned the policy and why it wasn’t advertised better and the answer I kept getting was it was in the contract. Obviously fine print as many staff didn’t even know! My 10 and 7 year old had a good time as they swam literally as much as possible. They went to the night club once but mostly they wanted to swim so I can’t say too much about those services. One mom I did talk to said she was disappointed with the kids program as they didn’t take them to the pool to swim, just inside activities and her kids liked being outside. There was a walking track and shuffle board but it was at the back of the ship near the smoke exhaust and that didn’t seem like the best lay out. The kids club area and arcade were also located poorly where you had to walk through the casino and smoke to get there. The rooms were bigger than we thought they would be- the beds were comfy and the food was good. Staff were super nice. They kept things very clean. If we didn’t have small children I would rate this cruise higher but I feel completely mislead and taken advantage of. I believe it’s poor business practice knowing the ages of the people signing up and not going over the restrictions for those kids ahead of time. I don’t want another family to go through what we did! Wait until your kids are older before you book! Read Less

The crew is friendly but rather unhelpful, they never clarified any instructions and I was offered a drink maybe once in my several days by the pool. There was no one out taking drink orders and bringing drinks. The food at the formal dining was not great, and even upon sitting at the bar my younger sister tried to get the crews attention for over 30 minutes. I’m addition when we made it to our second stop we originally were told we could get off at 11, well going through customs has people still on the boat it’s alrwady 2 o’clock. Originally they also said we didn’t have to be back on the hot until 8, that has also been moved up until 6:30. This is the most unruly cruise I’ve ever been on, people are missing their excursions they paid hundreds of dollars for, and frankly it isn’t even worth it to get off the boat anymore. Simply ridiculous. All of this said, we were looking for a cheaper cruise but I feel even for the price it wasn’t worth it. Read Less

I want to start with the praises because the list is shorter. I loved our steward on the 10th floor although I didn't see him as frequently as stewards on previous cruises. I think they seemed short-staffed. He was sweet to replenish the ice in my husband's beer bucket without our asking. That was kind. I liked one of the comedians. I think Cee Cee was his name. Although his R rated show should have been an X. I couldn't imagine taking my 18 year old daughter in there but he was funny. The other guy was ok. I think his name was BT or something but he engaged too much with audience members doing improv more than sticking with a skit. Loved the gym. Descent, modern equipment with a great view and never had to wait to use anything. Usually just a few people in there. The process of loading and unloading passengers went smoothly and our waiter at dinner was nice too. This is where my compliments stop. I get that it is impossible for there to not be some glitches but having to turn off plumbing in the middle of the night was a hassle. The smell of smoke walking through the casino was disgusting. Need better filters. The piano bar guy sucked. That has always been my favorite part of the cruise. In the past, the piano guys were so engaging. This guy got off course, only took requested if you tipped, would say he would play certain songs and never play them, and instead would play weird "non piano bar songs". No one stayed longer than one or two songs. There was never more than 10people in there. The waiter took my husband's half full beer when he went to restroom and refused to replace it. The food gets worse and worse each cruise. It's obvious they are cutting corners on a lot over the years. I don't think I took more than a couple of bites of any of my food. The sandwich wraps from deli were edible (hard to ruin) and the fish tacos at cantina were descent. The pizza sucked. I even was disappointed this time in Guys burgers. The dining room was horrible. Every entree, side, desert or appetizer was mediocre at best. I tried to avoid the buffets because some patrons act like it's a competitive sport and it's like Survivor: The Golden Corral Buffet. I kind of get PTSD with some neanderthals acting like they have never eaten or will never eat again. Seems more and more family reunion situations which is fine I guess but it sucks when an entire family camps out in certain sections like the pool, hot tub, etc and they act like they are the only ones there, yelling at the top of their lungs being obnoxious. The walls are paper thin. We were under the gym. Not sure if we heard weights being dropped all night or what but it was noisy. I wish there was a way to put noisy party animals on one floor, and people who respect their neighbors all on one floor. It sucks when either the Captain, staff, or neighbors are all taking turns making noise. I think they have cut back on a lot. They charge now for room service after 10 pm and all the "upgrades" we would get are gone. They also seem short staffed. In the theater, a waiter was ignoring us trying to get his attention so other customers had to point us out. I was bummed because we wanted to take advantage of being one of the few left on the ship after docking in Mexico. I went to hot tub, it was cold. Went to steam room and sauna, turned off. I guess they shut these things down in Port. The floors of the lido deck and the attached dining area were always wet. I lost count of how many people I saw fall. I have bad knees and ankles so I walk especially careful and slow and I slid a lot. Even saw an elderly guy in a wheelchair fall and there wasn't a staff member anywhere. My husband had to flag him down. All in all, u get what u pay for. Some people probably really get their money's worth. For families on a budget, it's a deal. U get your lodging, food, transportation and entertainment. Our teens have always enjoyed all the activities in the teen club but my husband and I would never step foot on this ship if it was just us. Read Less

My first issue started with embarkation. I handed the rep my family’s documents, she mixed them up and then said there is a problem and had to send me to someone. I had to go straighten everything out in which I was told, there was no problem. All documents were there. The rep then asked if we had any food allergies, I informed her that I documented the information in my cruise portal. She informed me that I needed to let her know. So I did, we boarded shortly afterwards, I was getting excited. As we were walking to the Lido deck, we were ambushed with tons of staff in which were trying to sell us so many different services, get us to sign up for raffles, to take photos. I felt very uncomfortable. Although the cruise fee was inexpensive, I still felt as if I paid my money to enjoy myself and not to be harrassed on every floor, at every elevator. It got aggravating as this occurred the whole cruise. We finally get to our room only to notice, my daughters luggage was missing. We went to guest services, the line was toooooo long. So we thought to enroll my 2 younger children for camp, in which was closed, during the cruise they were closed more than open and when I was able to drop off the kids, I was given 1 hour to 2 hours to assure I pick them up. All day went by and no suitcase. I finally went got to guest services, I received no help there, but the staff was very pleasant. I returned back to my room before dinner and finally the luggage was there. We get to the Atlantic dining hall and again I was asked to repeat my daughters food allergy list ( I was asked every night, at every seating) I will say I do appreciate RICA ROSA, who memorized my daughters name and allergy list from the first day of the cruise, although she wasn’t assigned to be our wait staff, she visited us at every sitting to assure we were okay. ( we miss her). The second day my husband and I found out that carnival deactivated our account due to a mistake on their end. They finally apologized after 30 min of arguing and forcing me to contact my bank, in which my bank informed me that carnival was pulling funds from my account after the authorization of the $100.00 was held. They totally screwed up my account and fixed it after frustrating myself and my husband. I really wanted to go home after that. The pool bar staff was very very rude, as I purchased 2 bottomless bubbles package (1 for me and my daughter) and I’m guessing I was wasting their time asking for Sprites with cherries (I don’t drink alcohol). My 11 year old was allowed to purchase jewelry and charged it to the room, when I took the jewelry back I was told that they didn’t know how to refund the item. This became a nightmare on top of a nightmare. I did enjoy being on the water, and watching the sun set and the beautiful sight seeing however I really wish I would have chosen a different cruise line. The sales people, and being harassed to buy, buy, buy really put me in a funky mood. I literally was dodging sales people by maneuvering around the ship by walking the back halls. Ugghhhhhhh... I would not recommend Carnival to anyone!! Read Less

My husband and I have been on 19 Cruises with Carnival being the one we choose most of the time. In November of 2017 we were on a 5-day cruise to the Keys and Cozumel. I can honestly say I have been on a bad cruise until this cruise, this ship was terrible! Let’s start with our cabin. Our room smelled like the sewer off and on. I do not believe it was cleaned from the previous cruise. The floor was not vacuumed, there was chocolate on a corner of the sheet that drapes over the comforter, the couch in our suite that pulled out to a bed was sticky and the comforter on that had what looked like someone had eaten Cheetos and wiped their hands on it. The Kleenex box was empty the whole cruise and when I pulled one off from the bathroom shelf and placed it on the counter it was never put into the Kleenex container. On our second day when we went to get off ship I told the cabin person that our floor needed to be cleaned, he asked if we wanted our room cleaned in the am or pm, I said pm but the floor needed to be vacuumed now! I was a little confused because on all other cruises they have made up the beds in the morning and turned them down each night, why am I paying him at end of cruise if I had to make my bed every day which is what I ended up doing? On all the other cruises it is normal to see hand sanitizers all over the ship, not on the Victory, on the first night in the dining room we saw one when entering but it was empty. Also on all other cruises you always see people cleaning everywhere, not on the Victory. Now let’s get to the food. It was not good! We have had many conversations with friends defending Carnival's food. I personally do not like buffet food, no matter where it is so we always go to the Dining room and that is what we tell friends when they say "I heard Carnival's food is not good" but this time I can say it was not good. I am not sure if Carnival has changed their food, their cleaning policies or what or if each ship is managed differently but I am probably not going to go on another Carnival cruise until I find this out, you have no idea what you getting into until the boat is at sea and then it’s too late because you cannot get off. We chose this cruise for its' itinerary. This was my 8th cruise and second time with Carnival. There were so many things wrong with this cruise...the buffet is not designed well as there are long lines of at least 40 people all the time. There should be stations, I was hungry much of the time because I didn't want to wait in line. It was easier to not eat then get so frustrated with the people and line. The cabin was a good size and the bathroom big but smelled like cat urine for 3 of the 4 days. I complained and they came and sprayed something that didn't work, so I gave up and lived with the smell. The anytime dining worked out well. The breakfast in the dining room was awful...took over an hour and the food was terrible. The last day we left our luggage in the room to go eat breakfast. We came back at 8:15, and were to leave room by 8:30. There were two people in our room with the door wide open cleaning already. They threw my ziploc bag away for my toothbrush and the soap from the soap dish. I was extremely upset!!! The ship is very confusing to get around, they make the one dining room next near to impossible to get to, and there isn't signage to let you know where to go. Was very disappointed and I'm not hard to please. Will not waste money on Carnival again. Read Less

To celebrate our daughter's 16th birthday we decided on the July 10th sailing on Carnival Victory from Miami to Key West and Cozumel. We were a family of 5 with 2 cabins (one indoor for two 16 year old girls, and an outdoor cabin with balcony for us the parents, and our 13 year old son.) Having cruised before (NCL x2; RCCL x2) I was pleased to see that Carnival offered a seemingly better deal offering a 4 night cruise for just slightly more than a 3 night cruise on the other cruise lines. We learned the hard way- YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Embarkation was disorganized and there was no sense of timekeeping inside the Miami terminal. I'm not sure why we had to choose an embarkation time during online check in, because they were unable to keep to any schedule. Once on board we went directly to our room. Luckily the cabin steward was close by because we had to call him into our bathroom to report unsanitary and unacceptable conditions requiring an immediate cleanup. Obviously cabin stewards fail to look up when they clean, because our bathroom ceiling was full of green boogers swiped all over with fingerprints and everything. The steward questioned if I was mistaking rust stains or peeling paint with "boogers" to which I replied rust and peeling paint would be a welcome sight compared to what was lurking in our bathroom. (And yes, there was rust in our shower.) By the time we returned from lunch, the steward had cleaned our bathroom to our satisfaction. Otherwise, our cabin appeared well kept-- "appeared" being the key word, but I'll return to that later. The ship itself was tired...very outdated and in need of a facelift. The amenities were average to below average. The casino was wonderful, very smoky, but a good size with fun games, and machines that paid out. Bars/lounges were plentiful; however poorly staffed such that one had to wait quite a while for a drink. Dining room experience: food was average to above average, however the first 2 nights of the cruise there was a stench of sewage outside of the dining room, and around the stairs/elevators that almost took our appetites away. The 3 pools were tiny, and at 10am the water was clear, but by 2pm they were filled near to capacity, and the water was cloudy with thick film on top, presumably from sunblocks/lotions. Try to find a server for drinks while sitting poolside. The longest I waited (yes, I timed it) was nearly 2 hours without one waiter walking by. The servers (dining room, bars, buffets) were all very nice and friendly, however there was simply too few of them. The wait times at the buffet for breakfast was unacceptable, and twice we sat at dirty tables and pushed dirty dishes to one end of the table, just so our party of 5 could sit together. The entertainment- the cruise director and his sidekick were the best part of the cruise. They did keep us all laughing. The dance troupe and singers were simply average; I could have seen better productions at our daughters performing arts high school. Choreography was boring and the female lead singer was pitchy at best. The shore excursions were fine- but less than 5 hours in Key West leaves little time to sight see, and one misses out on the beautiful Key West sunset. We took the VIP Dolphin Excursion in Cozumel which included 45 minutes with the dolphins, and free drinks and lunch thereafter. Food and drink was good, but photos were outrageously expensive. Overall we had a nice time as a family, however our kids reported that honestly, they were bored. They enjoyed: the arcade, the mini-golf, and the self service ice cream machine. The "kids" in the 11-13 camp and older age groups were very unruly and poorly behaved, therefore they wanted no part of that scene. Oh- remember our room "appearing" to be well kept? Well, we came home with BEDBUGS. Never before had we seen one, and 9 days after our return home our 13 year old found a handful of small bugs in his bed. The exterminator stated judging by the small number of adult bugs, and few eggsacks, he estimated a new infestation of 7 - 10 days. We informed him we stepped off a cruise ship 9 days prior. So this seemingly cheaper cruise has now cost us an additional $1500+ for our house to be treated; not to mention other incidentals, such as bedding, clothing, etc. My husband has stated he will never cruise again, most especially on Carnival. Unfortunately for us, the negatives far outweighed the positives on the Carnival Victory. It appears that this cruise line attracts a certain psychosocial demographic and at this time of our lives, thankfully, we can afford finer treatment, more luxurious amenities, and better customer service, than that to which most of Carnival patrons are accustomed. Lesson learned for my husband and my family. We will not be back. Read Less

16th birthday surprise for my daughter. This was my 15th cruise and my daughter's 10th cruise. Decided to give Carnival another try. Previously did Carnival 3 other times. All but one Carnival cruise was from the West coast which was the best of them all. This trip was horrible and very disappointing. I had an 11:30-12p check in but it seemed everyone did also. The food lines were disgustingly long ( all of the ). I almost skipped lunch. Seating to eat was worse. I managed to get to my room. The room attendant intruded on us while sleeping twice even when we stating we were sleeping. We lost hot water for 2 days in our stateroom. We were never informed of the Maintenance problem. The air conditioning throughout the ship did not work as well. We did not have spare toilet tissue. We had to call the room attendant for extra when we ran out. We went to dinner as usual but was informed of "open seating". We were NEVER informed. The annoying loud speaker announcement in the middle of night coupled with the banging door from the crew roo . It was difficult trying to get to the Pacific Dining. We had to walk through the cigarette-filled casino to eat. The smell was nauseating. Read Less

The cruise director was nice but the constant messages through put the ship quickly became annoying!!! We had a little over 5 hours in Key West and arrived in Cozumel at 1 pm and left at 10pm , really spent most time at sea, the good part was that it was only a 4 night cruise so it was over fast. Having sailed with Royal Caribbean and Norwegian many times before, we tried to book a last minute cruise during spring break but could not find a cabin that would accommodate 2 adults and a child. With Carnival being the last/only option left, we decided to give it a try and go on a Carnival Cruise for the first time. From the moment we booked, we decided to go with low expectations since we have always heard Carnival is not really on same level as RCCL and NCL. Going with low expectations would perhaps allow us to be surprised in a more positive way. Unfortunately that was not the case… Let’s start with the fact that the Victory is currently undergoing some refurbishment of its cabins. Some areas on decks 10 and 11 were cordoned off and crews were working on refurbishing cabins all 4 days we were on the ship. While these renovations did not really affect us much, it would be nice if Carnival had mentioned it at the time of booking. We would not have changed our mind about going and it would have been nice on their part to give passengers a full disclosure of what to expect. The only consequence of the renovations were late boarding on first day (we got a notice 2 days prior to sailing advising that boarding would be delayed by 2 hours as they would be loading and unloading materials from the ship) and some areas of decks 10 and 11 which smelled like a construction area (well, it was…). Knowing about the delay on boarding, we arrived later at the terminal (around 12:30) and the whole process of checking in and boarding did not take too long. Because of the later boarding, our cabin was ready for us when we boarded. This was a nice thing since it gave us the chance to drop off our bags before going to lunch. Cabin was good. I believe it had already been renovated because it looked fairly new, had a flat-screen TV and a mini fridge. Balcony was of good size with a small table and 2 chairs. Although cabin seemed clean at first look, we did see a lot of dust on the shelves and the bed sheet had a small red stain. Bathroom was clean. Food for the most part was very disappointing. I hear people saying that RCCL and NCL are going downhill when it comes to the food they offer on board their ships but I must say it is still a thousand times better than what Carnival offered on the Victory. The Lido buffet did not have too many options and at times it was hard to find something that I wanted to eat (and I am not a picky eater). Food in the main dining room was not any better. From the presentation to the temperature and taste, nothing was good. The only good thing we ate in the MDR was the melted chocolate cake (I just wish they would add a little more ice cream to it). Service in the MDR was also disappointing with waiters running around like they were overworked and not giving us the attention one would expect. We were never asked if we wanted something to drink, never asked if we wanted more bread, never asked if everything was all right, nothing. Really poor service. We often had to wait about 30 to 40 minutes to get our food… As for the entertainment, to our surprise, the 4 night cruise only had 2 shows. Really??? Both RCCL and NCL have shows every night. Of the 2 shows, the first one was a bit boring but the second one (Vroom) was really good. On the sea day coming back from Cozumel, we had some wind and pools and water slide were closed in the morning, only opening later in the afternoon (the weather is not Carnival’s fault). The one thing I did not understand is why they later opened the pools but did not open the water slide? Kids club closed for 3 hours in the middle of the afternoon because they had a “Build a bear” workshop going on and it was a paid experience. Still don’t understand why would someone pay for it while on a cruise when you can do the same thing at any mall. Our daughter was a bit bored because there were no activities for her during most of that sea day (water slide closed, kids club closed…). Also, we did not like the fact that the kids club for our daughter’s age (6-8) was at random places. Apparently they don’t have a dedicated area for this age group and they move the activities around different areas of the ship. Did not like the fact that in some of these locations the 6-8 kids would have to use same restrooms being used by adults who were at the pool or casino. RCCL has a better setup in their ships with dedicated areas for each age group. This might not seem like a big thing but as a parent, having a dedicated area for the kids makes us feel more at ease leaving the kids in the club. Another thing that bothered us was the frequent announcements from cruise director regarding spa and photo sales and casino activities. Dear Carnival, we know these options are there, available for us and it is not necessary to remind us several times a day!!! Quite annoying and made us remember every time that we were not on vacation to relax and have a good time, but only to spend more money at the overpriced spa and photoshop. Despite all the negative things, we did manage to have a good time because we always kept a positive attitude and tried to have fun as a family. We had a good time visiting Key West and as always, had an amazing snorkeling in Cozumel. All things considered, it was not a bad cruise but both my wife and I agreed not to sail with Carnival again. First experience did not leave a good impression… Read Less

We cruise often on Royal or NCL. This year we decided to go on Carnival since they had a 4 day cruise for New Years. This New Years cruise on Carnival Victory was a huge disappointment. The pros, the New Years Party was nice and our room stuart Mina was extremely nice. The cons, At the time of booking the cruise, we choose our time dinning, when we checked in, our card said 6:00 pm dinning, not our mistake. The Guest Service staff were not very friendly or helpful to correct this mistake. We waited an hour on line, to be told they could not help us. Same thing happen to our eleven other friends that were sailing with us. The decks were dirty and sticky, the upper deck by the hammocks had spilled drinks on the floor that were there all throughout the cruise. All the glass windows in the dinning are were filthy, it was difficult to see through them or take pictures. We all had charges to our cards that was not ours, standing in line to talk to guest services was another ordeal, this raised a big red flag since many of the passengers in line had the same issues . One thing that needs immediate attention is the way Carnival performs the emergency drill, the drill is a very important part of cruising in case of an emergency. We stood outside in the heat for approximately an hour, no consideration for the elderly and children, Carnival has to take into consideration that most elderly people can't stand for that length of time, especially in the heat. The other cruise lines perform their drill indoors, where you have the option to seat. This was not a cheap 4 day cruise, we paid as much as we paid on The Oasis and the Allure for 7 days. Overall, we were very disappointed and hope someone from Carnival management reads this to help them improve their services. Read Less

My family and I took our first cruise back in October on the Norwegian SKY. We loved it very much and decided we would try Carnival to visit Jamaica and Grand Cayman. We were told Carnival is known for being a "Party Cruise". We ignored the warning and decided to see for ourselves. Well-we were in for a LOUD and definitely not a family friendly cruise. I understand fun...but this main pool area was so obnoxiously loud and geared towards the "party crowd"...that there was no time for relaxation and just enjoying our children and vacation time at Sea. Unfortunately, there were 2 "fun" days at sea and the kids wanted to use the waterslide, which was in the "loud pool area". Don't get me wrong...there is a small area on the back of the ship where adults can find a quieter pool area...but we couldn't leave our kids alone at the waterslide area...so that was not an option for us. As far as other areas of the disappointing ship experience, I did not care for the scheduled dinner times. We had the 6pm seating time. I didn't like the limited flexibility we had with that. The food was OK, but nothing to write home about. The Cruise director did not impress me in the least bit, nor did the entertainment staff. By the second night on ship, we had a very loud banging outside our ship ocean view window. They said the ship was booked solid so they could not move a family of 4. They offered us "ear plugs". Mind you, this happened ALL the time while the ship was moving...so sleepless nights were guaranteed. They did offer a SMALL contribution to our onboard account, but nothing that would make me want to try Carnival again. Another negative was that there were no "family activities" in the main areas. The kids either went to the Carnival Camp (which is basically just a room for day care) or they weren't really included in any of the activities, whereas our Norwegian Cruise really catered to families thru out the ship each day. The reason I did not give them a 1 for terrible is because I absolutely had a blast in Jamaica and Grand Cayman, so I can't say I had a 100% terrible time on this vacation. All in all, unless you are on Spring Break and ready to party...DON'T waste your vacation time nor your valuable quality time with your family. Read Less

Getting on & off… Faster to the Fun gets 5 stars, The overall boarding process gets 4 stars. Disembarkation - Priceless Ship itself… Yes it’s a bit old, but nice… I did not notice any major ‘wear and tear’ it is maintained nicely. Not sure if it was just me, but never felt sea sick or felt that it was moving at all. That is a first for me. The Ship itself gets 4 stars. Cabin... Good size, liked the 3rd bed. Nice balcony... Overall clean & well maintained. Good closet and storage space. Cabin gets a 4 star. Food… Wow!! Not a good wow! This was chaos! There were a lot of people here. Lines were huge. And this did not change a bit through the entire cruise. Two times we waited in line for over 40 minutes to get food. This was way too much for me. Food tasted fine, some items were really good. Some were just OK, I couldn't say that I had anything that was bad. But the process was to get the food was very painful. The Sushi restaurant that they advertise in the brochures is closed- boo!! A little upset by that, feels a bit deceptive. For lunch,If you like to drink soda, prepare for the worst experience. Sodas are a bar item in this ship. We purchased Bottomless bubbles program, which is fairly priced, but you have to make a second HUGE line at the bar if you want a soda. Every single time you want a refill!!! Not cool! So to put this in perspective. 40 minutes to get food + 15 minutes to find a table + 20 minutes to get a soda = 1 hour and 15 minutes to start eating. In this order, almost certain that you are going to get to eat a cold lunch or dinner. Dining experience gets 1 star, Food taste gets 3.5 stars, Bottomless Bubbles program gets 2 stars. Activities… Everybody raves about the cruise director. I did not meet the guy or saw him once. Don’t think he is funny or annoying or anything at all. As far I am concerned, he is non-existent. However, I do know that he’s employees think that he is unorganized and don’t answer his calls. They also refer to him as a *******. Again, did not meet the guy, just overheard a couple of employees while sitting at the lounge. But I think that says a lot. The Spa, is a radically overpriced beauty salon. Although my wife and mother, did not seemed to mind, they got what they wanted. My only complaint is that after they enjoyed the $800 makeover (which they agree was worth it, I differ on that) , they felt really uncomfortable because of the amount of products they were trying to sell them. Not cool either. SPA started at 4 stars, because of the overselling they get 2. The pools were so full that I am still wondering how they all fit in there. At one point they couldn't move. The water also seemed yellow last time I passed through there, not sure if it was because of the reflection of the sun or the current chemistry at that particular time. Did not want to find out… At night, drinking seemed to be the main activity. By the end of the night, you would experience flying drinks to the lobby and art gallery followed by people throwing up in elevators, hallway boxing matches, and my absolute favorite, jumping furniture off the side of the ship. Activities get 2 stars, Organization get 1 star, Security, I don’t think they had any or they were way to busy. Overall Feeling... Felt like the ship had a capacity of 1,000 people and they jammed 2,500. Not a good feeling, will not cruise this one again. Overall value is a 1 star, I wanted to cruise to relax for ended up more stressed.   Read Less

Just off the Carnival Victory. Not as many positives to say on this review. Embarkation was smooth, rooms were bigger than expected, but the bathroom needed repair. Tile old, coming off, stained grout. Room service was efficient, but the menu lacked variety I compared this ship to another lines and was disappointed, this is an older ship, and I must realize this, but it truly does need refurbishment. There are few options to eat and with this many people onboard it made for overcrowding many times. There is no specialty restaurant, something we always looked forward too. The spa area was just not too my standards. Entertainment was just average. The last nights performance of the singers and dancers did make up for the rest of the nights. Comedy was just not funny..to each his own The ships over appearance was run down. We noticed rust in many areas on ship, our balcony had rust stains running down the divider on balcony, an ugly thing to look at as you are sitting on your balcony. Food was average, buffet lines were messy, hand sanitizers not easy to find and not encouraged as in other lines we have sailed. This is our last Carnival cruise. Read Less

- Arrived at the ship terminal and stood in line for almost 2hrs. Not knowing if this was normal, myself and my two teenage daughters quietly stood waiting to hear what the holdup was. We eventually received a letter for a Carnival rep indicated that the ship was going through a thoroughly cleaning due to a gastrointestinal outbreak on the previous cruise. At that moment, sheer panic came over me as I was about to board for a 5 night cruise. I can thankfully say even though our first and last cruise was not a good experience, my family and I didn't get sick. I think the use of our bottle of sanitizer every few minutes helped. - The first morning I walked out of my cabin at 7am to overwhelm by the odour of marijuana coming from the cabin beside ours. I immediately found security/management and reported the incident. Sadly my complaints of the illegal activity went on and on, day and night for the entire cruise without security getting involved. Due to the configuration of the cabin and how small the cabins are there was no escaping the odour of marijuana. - First day at sea was extremely disappointing. My daughters and I searched for one hour to find a sun lounger. My idea of sitting 2 inches from other people was not what I envisioned. I asked the staff if there was a part of the ship that we were missing to find some place to seat to enjoy the sun. Unfortunately there wasn't any free space. We finally pulled up a piece of the floor and laid on our towel, hoping not get stepped on. - Even though my girls were not young, I felt sorry for families that had young children. There was no safe pool that they their children could play in without partying young people acting very inappropriate and the concern about some drunken person jumping on their child. I watched as security stood by and ignore all this behaviour. Overall, a cruise vacation is not for my family. I realize that it was Spring Break and therefore I am sure that the amount of alcohol abuse and wild behaviour was due to this time of year. However, I was not empress with Carnival's lack of security in the control of the passengers. On a positive note; I can say that the staff in the Dining room and our cabin steward were extremely helpful and pleasant. The ship was very cleaned for the most part. I hope my review helps those that are thinking about a cruise and Carnival Management with their rules and policies with respect to security. Read Less

This was not my first cruise with Carnival, he first was a few years ago in Carnival Sensation (Bahamas), and since then service in general has only gotten worse and worse. For 5 days/4 nights, there was not one single good meal, not even average, my kids lost their appetite, Breakfast and Lunch were always the same menu in the Mediterranean Rest (Deck 9) which is conveniently located closed to pool area, but everyday was always the same menu, food tasted badly, scrambled eggs tasted like it was mixed with flour, chicken was always dry, every time we ask for something, they didn't have it, for example, my daughter asked for pasta and they said "no, we don't have pasta, if you want pasta you have to go to Atlantic or Pacific and they already closed", I asked for Chocolate Croissant, and they did not have any. My cabin did not have soap but a Shower Gel dispenser, I asked for one and the answer was basically, "this side of cabins have no soaps, only shower gel", I asked the lady to bring me one as I don't use shower gel, by the end of the cruise I asked for another soap and the lady said "we ran out of soap, no more soap in ship", she finally found one for me with a "your are lucky, this is the last soap". In the Dining area, service was extremely slow, my kids were starving and getting impatient while waiting for food, my daughter learned not to eat all the plate or otherwise she would set sick.During our last day (Fun Day at Sea), there was not one single lounge chair available, I asked to please take more lounge chairs our (they have them all tied up by the Mini Golf area), the gentleman said "we are working on it" and left, I ended up sun tanning on a wooded bench by the edge of the pool, few minutes later, I was surrounded by more guests. And we cannot forget about the Kids Club, one fellow guest I met by the pool said "my girls went and they said it was lame", my kids hated it, they stayed only once for one hour and when I came back my son said "finally you came to our rescue" (a bit melodramatic, I know), but in general it was not good. I would never go on a Carnival Cruise again, I have traveled with other lines and I prefer to repeat those and try new destinations. I hope this information helps as I try to be as objective as possible. Read Less
