To celebrate our daughter's 16th birthday we decided on the July 10th sailing on Carnival Victory from Miami to Key West and Cozumel. We were a family of 5 with 2 cabins (one indoor for two 16 year old girls, and an outdoor cabin with balcony for us the parents, and our 13 year old son.) Having cruised before (NCL x2; RCCL x2) I was pleased to see that Carnival offered a seemingly better deal offering a 4 night cruise for just slightly more than a 3 night cruise on the other cruise lines. We learned the hard way- YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Embarkation was disorganized and there was no sense of timekeeping inside the Miami terminal. I'm not sure why we had to choose an embarkation time during online check in, because they were unable to keep to any schedule. Once on board we went directly to our room. Luckily the cabin steward was close by because we had to call him into our bathroom to report unsanitary and unacceptable conditions requiring an immediate cleanup. Obviously cabin stewards fail to look up when they clean, because our bathroom ceiling was full of green boogers swiped all over with fingerprints and everything. The steward questioned if I was mistaking rust stains or peeling paint with "boogers" to which I replied rust and peeling paint would be a welcome sight compared to what was lurking in our bathroom. (And yes, there was rust in our shower.) By the time we returned from lunch, the steward had cleaned our bathroom to our satisfaction. Otherwise, our cabin appeared well kept-- "appeared" being the key word, but I'll return to that later. The ship itself was tired...very outdated and in need of a facelift. The amenities were average to below average. The casino was wonderful, very smoky, but a good size with fun games, and machines that paid out. Bars/lounges were plentiful; however poorly staffed such that one had to wait quite a while for a drink. Dining room experience: food was average to above average, however the first 2 nights of the cruise there was a stench of sewage outside of the dining room, and around the stairs/elevators that almost took our appetites away. The 3 pools were tiny, and at 10am the water was clear, but by 2pm they were filled near to capacity, and the water was cloudy with thick film on top, presumably from sunblocks/lotions. Try to find a server for drinks while sitting poolside. The longest I waited (yes, I timed it) was nearly 2 hours without one waiter walking by. The servers (dining room, bars, buffets) were all very nice and friendly, however there was simply too few of them. The wait times at the buffet for breakfast was unacceptable, and twice we sat at dirty tables and pushed dirty dishes to one end of the table, just so our party of 5 could sit together. The entertainment- the cruise director and his sidekick were the best part of the cruise. They did keep us all laughing. The dance troupe and singers were simply average; I could have seen better productions at our daughters performing arts high school. Choreography was boring and the female lead singer was pitchy at best. The shore excursions were fine- but less than 5 hours in Key West leaves little time to sight see, and one misses out on the beautiful Key West sunset. We took the VIP Dolphin Excursion in Cozumel which included 45 minutes with the dolphins, and free drinks and lunch thereafter. Food and drink was good, but photos were outrageously expensive. Overall we had a nice time as a family, however our kids reported that honestly, they were bored. They enjoyed: the arcade, the mini-golf, and the self service ice cream machine. The "kids" in the 11-13 camp and older age groups were very unruly and poorly behaved, therefore they wanted no part of that scene. Oh- remember our room "appearing" to be well kept? Well, we came home with BEDBUGS. Never before had we seen one, and 9 days after our return home our 13 year old found a handful of small bugs in his bed. The exterminator stated judging by the small number of adult bugs, and few eggsacks, he estimated a new infestation of 7 - 10 days. We informed him we stepped off a cruise ship 9 days prior. So this seemingly cheaper cruise has now cost us an additional $1500+ for our house to be treated; not to mention other incidentals, such as bedding, clothing, etc. My husband has stated he will never cruise again, most especially on Carnival. Unfortunately for us, the negatives far outweighed the positives on the Carnival Victory. It appears that this cruise line attracts a certain psychosocial demographic and at this time of our lives, thankfully, we can afford finer treatment, more luxurious amenities, and better customer service, than that to which most of Carnival patrons are accustomed. Lesson learned for my husband and my family. We will not be back. Read Less

My family and I really enjoyed this cruise. We were part of a group of 17 people. We had a row of rooms on the 6th floor. They opened our balconies and that made it nice that we were able to walk about to each other room via balcony. We chose the 10:30 check in time. That was nice but we were still not able to get on the boat until almost noon. It was nice not having to take pictures or anything when getting on the boat. They used your picture from your passport. The ship was an older ship but it was extremely clean. I loved our room. We never really wanted for much. There was plenty to do at all times. I would surely recommend this boat for any one who doesn't want to be on one of the newer mega ships. My only reason I couldn't give a perfect rating was because on night 3 dinner was more of a freestyle dinner so my husband and I were sitting at a table with a couple we didn't know. I would have liked to been with our group. My four year old daughter loved Camp Ocean and they loved her as well. She was always happy to go. Read Less

We chose this cruise to celebrate my granddaughters high school graduation. I was looking for a short four day cruise that was not too expensive and suitable for a young lady having a good time. Carnival is not one of my favorite cruise lines but they made a good attempt to make it an enjoyable experience. There are problems one being the low pricing structure bring in a lot of first time cruisers who seem to be lost enjoying the total experience. It seems spending all their time at the buffet and screaming at each other is all they do. The buffet on this ship is too small and since it was a full ship they could not accommodate the people. Food was just ok, better than MSC but not up to NCL or Celebrity. The dinning room staff were excellent and attentive. We had early dinning and I was impressed that knew out names right from the get go and never forgot them. The dinning staff performed two "shows" and the dinning staff were great! But every day the staff sang happy birthday to guests over and over and it was so bad it got annoying. The two shows on this cruise were fair at best. The first was so disjointed it became boring. The second was better but with only two singers it was redundant. The smokey casino was hard to walk through at times, I now know why people complain about so much smoke. The room for three people was very good, clean and kept in order by our cabin steward. We only saw him one time but the room was always kept clean and neat. Rest of staff were friendly and helpful, as I said they did a good effort to make this short five day cruise and enjoyable one. We did a buggy tour in Cozumel and it was a blast. All three of us enjoyed it each for different reasons. I enjoyed driving a stick shift buggy, my wife enjoyed seeing the beauty of the island and GD enjoyed snorkeling. Well worth the money. Key West was a bust four hours is not long enough to do anything and have been there many times before so went to Sloopy Joes and had a drink after taking the tour around the island. Pretty much a bust. Read Less

This was our first cruise and I was a bit worried looking at previous reviews, however I shouldn't have been because we really enjoyed our cruise. The room 6355 & 6359 were excellent, I understand the the ship was refitted last year and the balcony rooms we had were of a very good standard a really comfortable. We used the serenity area mostly as we were happy for others to engage with the extensive fun stuff, chilled and relaxing. The service was excellent, the housekeeping staff looking after our rooms were excellent, (sorry can't remember his name but really great service) The ship is some 20 years old but it was in great condition. The buffet restaurant is sometimes a bit of a scrum but offers a wide choice of options, don't miss the freshly cooked Chinese selection. Tip, rather than do the buffet breakfast, which is very good, treat yourself to breakfast in the the main restaurants, we took breakfast in the Pacific restaurant, waiter service, was excellent. My only 2 criticisms would be, and hence the 4 stars:- - Smoking inside the casino, I'm sorry, but where in 2017, do organisation's allow smoking inside! Scientifically proven to kill people, yet Carnival allow their staff and the vast majority of passengers to be subjected to cancerous smoke. Note the casino is a walk through area from the back to the front of the ship. We held our breadth, but why Carnival think this is ok nowadays is frankly beyond comprehension, even my friends who are smokers are surprised! Come on Carnival change your policy. - every entertainment option was a bit too loud, I know you are reading this thinking why go on a "fun" ship then, but even the piano bar was too loud to have a conversation, so we ended up on the lido bar watching a film which was ok with the free pop corn. Smoking and volume aside, we really enjoyed the victory, it's not Cunard, but it doesn't pertend to be, it's good value and for us a good introduction to cruising. Read Less

My family went on this cruise for a wedding on the ship and the wedding was very well organized and everything went well. We typically cruise on another cruise line and I was impressed with a few things. We really liked how the dress code was casual, you could wear shorts to dinner except formal night. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They served lox (salmon) every day. A few things we were not please with was the pop package since you had to go up to bar or ask your server to get you soda pop which sometimes took forever. The entertainment was good but they needed more choices. We did get off the ship to explore Key West and Cozumel and they were both nice and we have been to both ports prior. I have been on one carnival cruise in the past and I would consider trying it again mainly because of the casual atmosphere. The service was typically good. We had my time dining and that took forever, we were in the dining room for over 2 hours but we did have a party of 8-10 on most nights. The food was pretty good, we tried lots of things. Read Less

This was my second cruise and overall, it was amazing! The food was particularly wonderful, the staff was friendly, the activities were plentiful and even the hiccups left my best friends and I with some amazing stories! Ship: Overall, the ship was well-decorated (personal opinion), clean and easy to navigate. The only negative we encountered about the ship overall was that in some areas (certain hallways, common areas) there was an unpleasant "restroomy" smell. Cabin: We booked an interior cabin that was supposed to have two twin beds and a pull out couch since we had 3 guests. The ship was not able to accommodate that request and instead gave us an average sized interior room with two beds. We were told that a cot would be brought to our room. It wasn't delivered until very late at night which would have been inconvenient if we wanted to nap that day or go to bed early. When the "cot" finally came, it was the equivalent of a blow up mattress on the floor. That was a bit disappointing. The linens on this "cot" were also never changed during our 4 day cruise. Other than that, the room was clean and service was good. Dining: The food was EXCELLENT! The Lido deck breakfast never disappointed and the dining room food and service was absolutely superb. One of our guests had a seafood allergy and was given the menu for the following evening every night so that the staff could be sure that her food would be prepared separately and safely. It also gave myself and our other friend the chance to get a sneak peak at what would be served. We also had the chance on this cruise to try the Seaday Brunch and it was delicious. Entertainment: What can I say? It was definitely a "Fun Cruise". During all of our relaxing we didn't get to do as many of the activities as we wanted, but each one we did get the chance to experience was fun. We went to Bingo, Karaoke (the Red and Black Lounge is beautiful btw), the Hairy Chest Competition and the Spa demonstration just to name a few. Ports: Key West was beautiful, but a short trip so plan activities wisely. There is not much of a beach, but the water is beautiful. Also, in regards to the shuttle that Carnival provides to and from the port at Key West, a million people will show up for the last shuttle so try to get there early just to be safe. We loved the Fat Tuesdays here! Cozumel was a lot of fun! We booked the Helmet Sea Floor excursion through Carnival and the experience and service were awesome. The tour guides were super helpful and two free drinks were included! Afterwards, the cab driver that was called for us by the tour guides took us to a resort called "Paradise Island" with the most beautiful heated pool! We could have stayed forever. The beach was a little underwhelming. I prefer the white sand and bluer water I experienced in the Bahamas. I enjoyed the Latinx culture and flavor of this destination but don't know if I would chose it again. Overall, it was a wonderful vacation and I definitely plan on sailing the Victory again when I get the chance! Read Less

we had never been on a cruise and spent 3400 for 4 people as a grad gift for my son and a friend. The staff was great they really try to make your experience great and they remember your names. dinner was served in a nice room if you prefer instead of the buffet but sit down the presentation was extremely great and the server Neumann in Atlantic was by far the best server we ever had very very accommodating. however we sat the same table each night in the corner of the room upstairs and each night there was a show that we never got to see because where we were assigned to sit. They should have TVs so the people who are stuffed away can enjoy the experience like the others. the night we all had to share the dinning area was at Cozumel no dinner set times just open from 6 to 930. the people to the right of us the girl threw up on the table they left it there the entire time we sat to eat ( over 30 Minutes) that was disgusting and unsaintly should have been cleaned right away the people next to us left. they came back for take out and were served at the same table to go gross. on the other hand The director was great he tried to get everyone involved and had a great personality his name was Matey. The problem with the cruise is they have no rules once on board that people must follow and no enforcement of rules so young kids run among screaming at all times of the day and night not accompanied by adults which means that if you want to sleep you have to listen to the noise and no one stops them this happened as late as 2 am There is no rules keeping them from hanging and ruining outside the rooms, They have no guidelines if you cannot control your children than there is absolutely no consequences and the chikdren run around screaming as the parents are no where to be found. they should have children under a certain age should be accompanies by an adult because the youngest kids were wondering alone and screaming which ruined it for a lot of people. We did this cruise as a graduation trip for our daughter. It was our first time to go on a cruise but we have heard good things from some of our friends who have already gone on a cruise so we had high expectations. Our cruise was very enjoyable, food was great, we were over fed and we really enjoyed the nightly dinner. We were assigned at the Atlantic dining room and received outstanding service from Melchor and Jovy and their teams. The same goes with the steward service, Eufracio and his team did excellent work on keeping our room serviced despite their busy routines. We decided to do the deluxe beach excursion in Cozumel which our kids enjoyed, those guys in the sailboat know how to entertain their guests with endless beer and margaritas which I enjoyed. There is only one thing that needs improvement and that would be the internet service. I tried the cheapest service at first and I cannot even avail of the expected services that were enumerated in that level so I tried upgrading to the next level. The second level was better but still very slow. I was tempted to upgrade again to the next level but it was expensive at more than $70 for just a few days. Overall I would rate our cruise excellent and yes, I would do it again in the near future. Read Less

This was our first cruise and I was told to check out Carnival's line. We choose Victory primarily because of dates and it was going to Cozumel which I'd always wanted to go to. I was advised to purchase FTTF. So glad I did. While our itinerary didn't have any tender ports it definitely helped with embarkation and debarkation. The moment we got off of the shuttle it was easy to see where to enter with FTTF. After going through security we were led to an area to wait with other FTTF people. On a side note when doing all my online info with Carnival it had me select a staggered boarding time. Ours was 10:30-11am. Not really sure what the point of this was as even with FTTF we didn't board until 11:30. Needed to wait on priority passengers to board. Not a problem with me just not sure what the point in selecting staggered times was for. But back to embarkation...we boarded at 11:30am and I had my one carry on bag. Tried to go to the room immediately like I thought we were supposed to be able to. Saw all of the doors closed off with signs that rooms wouldn't be ready until 1pm. Decided to go to lunch. Found the buffet on Lido's deck. Very few people in line at the time so we grabbed lunch. Food was pretty good. After that we toured the ship and went to the room at 1pm. Our luggage showed up about 15minutes after that. Awesome!!! Our room was a good size compared to what I expected and we just got an ocean view. Loved how they came in the morning and cleaned the room then again showed up in the evening for turndown and left the brochures for the next day's activities. Being our first cruise I didn't really know what to expect so the ship was pretty large and awesome for us. BTW it was just myself, my 11yr old daughter and 15yr old son. We found the kid area and they both checked out their clubs. Most of the cruise they hung out in their club or with friends they made. The amount of activities they had on the ship definitely kept me entertained. I tried to go to all the shows and comedy acts. I definitely wasn't bored at any time. Our Cruise Director Matey made things pretty fun. Getting off at the ports was easy enough. Many people recommended not doing any excursions and just do your own thing. In Key West this was fine. We walked the shops and did the hop on hop off trolley. Only had a few hours there. Now in Cozumel we actually found ourselves not knowing what to do. We walked the shops and headed out of the port area. Didn't go too far. Ate lunch at Hard Rock. Walked back to the shops and headed back to the ship. We had an entire day at Cozumel and only spent about 4 hours there because I didn't know what to do. I was so worried about transportation, exchange rate, going too far from the ship and getting back too late. For people who have traveled to these places before or just know what to do, going of on your own might be nicer. But for those newbies like me an excursion would have been better. So to say I was disappointed is an understatement. But it was my decision not to do an excursion and one I won't repeat. Dining on the ship was entertaining and the food was good. We chose the early dining so we all knew what time to meet up for dinner each night and I could make the show right after. I loved how after a night the waiters knew exactly what the kids liked or didn't like. It amazed my kids how they remembered their names and would joke with them or ask them about their day. The food was really good and I liked the ability to order a couple different things so you could try foods we've never had. My son learned he loves calamari! The Chocolate Melting Cake was probably the best dessert I'd had on the whole trip! We also did the Dr. Suess Breakfast. It was enjoyable but not something I need to repeat. Food was similar to the breakfast in the dining room (unless you ordered green eggs and ham) so you're really just paying to meet the characters. As I said earlier the ship was really nice. I don't have anything to compare it to yet. There was times when the Triton pool was closed off and the splash pad was closed the whole time. Not a big deal with my older kids but had I had younger ones it would have been disappointing. The main pool was much smaller then I thought and the kids barely swam at all because of that. We watched the Dive in Movies a couple of nights. They showed Beauty and the Beast, Moana, and John Wick II. We definitely liked that they showed new movies. Debarkation was a breeze. We awoke early and ate breakfast in the dining room. We chose to carry our bags off and we met in the room we were supposed to at 7:30 for FTTF people or those who had early flights/long drives. We sat down with our bags and then immediately had to get back up as they were ushering the FTTF guests off. Walked right off, went through customs and was outside by 7:45. Shuttle pulled right up and we were back to our car and on the road by 8am. Not sure if this was the norm but I was wowed by how easy and fast that process went. Overall we had an amazing time for our first cruise. My kids had so much fun they started researching carnival cruises on the very long ride home. It wasn't until then that we realized how small our ship was compared to other ships and that most of the other ships have been updated to get the Guy's restaurants and other features. By the time we got home we had figured out what ship, port ect we were doing next and booked it a day later. I definitely purchased FTTF again!!! This time I will use what I learned on the first cruise. We will book a few excursions this time to make the most of our ports. So here's counting down to our cruise on Carnival Dream 2018!!! 16th birthday surprise for my daughter. This was my 15th cruise and my daughter's 10th cruise. Decided to give Carnival another try. Previously did Carnival 3 other times. All but one Carnival cruise was from the West coast which was the best of them all. This trip was horrible and very disappointing. I had an 11:30-12p check in but it seemed everyone did also. The food lines were disgustingly long ( all of the ). I almost skipped lunch. Seating to eat was worse. I managed to get to my room. The room attendant intruded on us while sleeping twice even when we stating we were sleeping. We lost hot water for 2 days in our stateroom. We were never informed of the Maintenance problem. The air conditioning throughout the ship did not work as well. We did not have spare toilet tissue. We had to call the room attendant for extra when we ran out. We went to dinner as usual but was informed of "open seating". We were NEVER informed. The annoying loud speaker announcement in the middle of night coupled with the banging door from the crew roo . It was difficult trying to get to the Pacific Dining. We had to walk through the cigarette-filled casino to eat. The smell was nauseating. Read Less

Personally, I don't see any other way being easier or less stressful. Our wedding guests list included over 30 people and everyone was always able to find something to do that they enjoyed. Smaller groups chose to do different excursions when we all met back at the ship we would talk about our different experiences and everyone said they really enjoyed whatever activity they did that day. The photographer Vitalina did such an amazing job it was impossible to pick which pictures we wanted, they were all great! Our wait staff in the dining hall was incredible and we all miss Yonathon! He and his team made every night so memorable. The food was fantastic and everyone who goes on this ship needs to check out the comedy shows and experience karaoke night. I chose this cruise for the dates available and the destinations. It was a first cruise for my son and 2 grandsons. Between the pools, water slide and the Circle C club, the 12 and 13 year old cousins found plenty to do on board. Since both boy were picky eaters, we did the buffet for all meals. They either went through the line with us or went for burgers or pizza while the older folk went through the line. Then we all met at the same table for our meal together. The cabin was a little small for 4 people but we didn't stay in it much. I loved the balcony. Sometimes I get up in the middle of the night and I was able to sit on the balcony and watch the stars or read my e-book. The cabin might have been more habitable if the kids weren't always leaving things in the floor but they did make a real effort. They often were just in a rush to get to the pool, slide or club. Both of the adults were able to find plenty of food we liked at the buffet or the deli. The kids foods choices almost dictated we eat on the Lido level but we didn't find it a hardship. We both enjoyed the Ruben from the deli. I have had better Rubens but I have had much worse and they certainly didn't short us on corned beef. My son was very impressed with how courteous the staff members treated our herd. We all enjoyed our short cruise. The Old Town Trolley driver in Key West, Louis, was a riot and very informative. In Cozumel we went to the Tulum ruins. Our guide Angel knew local history very well and kept us entertained and informed. The only negative I found was his rather pushy sales pitches for his buddies at a restaurant or shops. Also I didn't so much mind the extra $5 for having a camera at Tulum and $2 for the tram. It is just that I would have liked to know beforehand. Read Less

We went on the Carnival Victory March 20, 2017 out of Miami. This was a Christmas present for our family and our first cruise. The ship had a delay in boarding in for a few hours so they shuttled us to the Bayside Marketplace and back. We were on the ship for a day and then went to Key West. We bought a Key West excursion from Carnival but were not given the correct paperwork for it. We got our money back for the excursion. After leaving Key West on our way to Cozumel a man went overboard. We were told that the coast guard was not letting us go to Cozumel and in 2 days we would return back to Miami. My heart does go out to the mans family! Carnival gave us the money back for the Cozumel excursion, Cozumel port fees and taxes. The food at dinner was not good and the waiter assigned table was rude. The buffet was good but the lines were long. The elevator lines were long too. We ended up taking the stairs most of the time. Carnival did not plan any extra entertainment or activities so we went to the same ones a couple of nights in a row. Carnival offered to give us 20% off our next cruise if we take it in the next year. We feel that Carnival should reimburse more than 20% towards the next cruise. This was a very disappointing first cruise. Read Less

Having sailed with Royal Caribbean and Norwegian many times before, we tried to book a last minute cruise during spring break but could not find a cabin that would accommodate 2 adults and a child. With Carnival being the last/only option left, we decided to give it a try and go on a Carnival Cruise for the first time. From the moment we booked, we decided to go with low expectations since we have always heard Carnival is not really on same level as RCCL and NCL. Going with low expectations would perhaps allow us to be surprised in a more positive way. Unfortunately that was not the case… Let’s start with the fact that the Victory is currently undergoing some refurbishment of its cabins. Some areas on decks 10 and 11 were cordoned off and crews were working on refurbishing cabins all 4 days we were on the ship. While these renovations did not really affect us much, it would be nice if Carnival had mentioned it at the time of booking. We would not have changed our mind about going and it would have been nice on their part to give passengers a full disclosure of what to expect. The only consequence of the renovations were late boarding on first day (we got a notice 2 days prior to sailing advising that boarding would be delayed by 2 hours as they would be loading and unloading materials from the ship) and some areas of decks 10 and 11 which smelled like a construction area (well, it was…). Knowing about the delay on boarding, we arrived later at the terminal (around 12:30) and the whole process of checking in and boarding did not take too long. Because of the later boarding, our cabin was ready for us when we boarded. This was a nice thing since it gave us the chance to drop off our bags before going to lunch. Cabin was good. I believe it had already been renovated because it looked fairly new, had a flat-screen TV and a mini fridge. Balcony was of good size with a small table and 2 chairs. Although cabin seemed clean at first look, we did see a lot of dust on the shelves and the bed sheet had a small red stain. Bathroom was clean. Food for the most part was very disappointing. I hear people saying that RCCL and NCL are going downhill when it comes to the food they offer on board their ships but I must say it is still a thousand times better than what Carnival offered on the Victory. The Lido buffet did not have too many options and at times it was hard to find something that I wanted to eat (and I am not a picky eater). Food in the main dining room was not any better. From the presentation to the temperature and taste, nothing was good. The only good thing we ate in the MDR was the melted chocolate cake (I just wish they would add a little more ice cream to it). Service in the MDR was also disappointing with waiters running around like they were overworked and not giving us the attention one would expect. We were never asked if we wanted something to drink, never asked if we wanted more bread, never asked if everything was all right, nothing. Really poor service. We often had to wait about 30 to 40 minutes to get our food… As for the entertainment, to our surprise, the 4 night cruise only had 2 shows. Really??? Both RCCL and NCL have shows every night. Of the 2 shows, the first one was a bit boring but the second one (Vroom) was really good. On the sea day coming back from Cozumel, we had some wind and pools and water slide were closed in the morning, only opening later in the afternoon (the weather is not Carnival’s fault). The one thing I did not understand is why they later opened the pools but did not open the water slide? Kids club closed for 3 hours in the middle of the afternoon because they had a “Build a bear” workshop going on and it was a paid experience. Still don’t understand why would someone pay for it while on a cruise when you can do the same thing at any mall. Our daughter was a bit bored because there were no activities for her during most of that sea day (water slide closed, kids club closed…). Also, we did not like the fact that the kids club for our daughter’s age (6-8) was at random places. Apparently they don’t have a dedicated area for this age group and they move the activities around different areas of the ship. Did not like the fact that in some of these locations the 6-8 kids would have to use same restrooms being used by adults who were at the pool or casino. RCCL has a better setup in their ships with dedicated areas for each age group. This might not seem like a big thing but as a parent, having a dedicated area for the kids makes us feel more at ease leaving the kids in the club. Another thing that bothered us was the frequent announcements from cruise director regarding spa and photo sales and casino activities. Dear Carnival, we know these options are there, available for us and it is not necessary to remind us several times a day!!! Quite annoying and made us remember every time that we were not on vacation to relax and have a good time, but only to spend more money at the overpriced spa and photoshop. Despite all the negative things, we did manage to have a good time because we always kept a positive attitude and tried to have fun as a family. We had a good time visiting Key West and as always, had an amazing snorkeling in Cozumel. All things considered, it was not a bad cruise but both my wife and I agreed not to sail with Carnival again. First experience did not leave a good impression… Read Less

We did learn not to wander to far in Mexico tho, unless you WANT to be offered drugs! I was asked four times in one block. So decided to go back to safer areas. It was beautiful there! In Key WEst my daughter just had to go see the Robert Doll at the Martello Museum. Was quite interesting. The ship was maintained very good. Always someone close if you needed anything. We were treated wonderful by everyone that worked on the ship. Was just the get a way we needed to break away the the Pa winter..... We are trying to decide where we want to go next with Carnival! Before I begin I should put in a disclaimer that I did not really care so much about what cruise I was sailing on this time as my main intent was to meet up with some very good friends we hadn't seen in a while and friends of whom had booked it first and they were first time cruisers and we later joined in. This cruise is my 3rd. I first cruised on Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas to Jamaica and Haiti from Miami, and the second one and the best one was an Alaskan itinerary on the Silverseas Silver Shadow. So it was a no brainer that after the last intimate luxury ship experience in the breathtakingly gorgeous Alaskan itinerary, I would not be leaving good reviews for a loud and totally unrelaxing Carnival cruise. However I still swear I went on board with an unbiased and open minded attitude thinking it was a big ship, more activities on board, more bars and could be a great time. My husband was much more pessimistic right from the beginning. However to make things smoother for us, I had booked a verandah suite, with priority access to embarkation and got the Cheers beverage package; not because we wanted to get blacked out drunk but just so we didn't have to deal with the hassle of paying every time for a drink. First thing we noted: there were annoying and intrusive photographers literally every step of embarkation into the ship, or when you would try to step out on a port. For example, not one, or two, there were at least 6 at Cozumel. Some of these were ridiculously dumb photo backgrounds- a weird white towel elephant character, or a part of a railing of the gangway, etc. and of course you pay a fortune to buy them (if stupid enough to buy) . I was sucked into buying a few of our "cruise elegant" portraits- which were at least with a nice canvas art background, and we had a few good ones together with friends. Enough about the photographers. I should also say that our embarkation with the priority access was relatively easy - although the whole boarding process was delayed by 2 hours; at least they emailed us in advance about it. Next on board; staff members with glasses of rum punch standing around and shoving them toward you - and as soon as you pick it up they make you sign a 9 dollar check - and again I had the Cheers package so it was included - but it just made it feel like a trashy type of thing instead of feeling welcomed with a welcome drink as they would do on a classy cruise. But hey, I don't blame the cruise line either because most of the people I could see around were not the classiest and they were there to have a cheap getaway with unlimited food and booze and loud music. So they pretty much got what they wanted. Next thing; the lines at the lunch buffet at the poolside grill and Lido deck. The food looked unappetizing and it was a good thing we had a very good Peruvian meal before embarking so we skipped lunch. We relaxed in our cabin which was surprisingly better looking than I expected with wooden accents and a comfortable bed. Two twin beds put together to make the king but hey I am not complaining about that. Although considerably smaller than a suite would be expected ; and the balcony wasn't really impressive. Our steward Suardika met us and was a nice young man who was always smiling and offering to help; we didn't really ask for anything during the trip but it was refreshing to see someone come forward with smiles as a lot of the other staff really did not seem happy or friendly. I would say though that the girls at the Coffee shop or the Alchemy bar were very very nice and friendly and efficient. Especially considering the people they had to deal with day and night. We mostly avoided eating lunch buffets; breakfast was mediocre; the Huevos rancheros on the last day brunch was excellent. Dinners were not great; they did have an Indian vegetarian meal entree which was actually very good - and understably so as the food service manager and head chef were Indian- but surprisingly and disappointingly they did not have any Mexican food or South American or Asian inspired cuisines on the dinner menu. Prime rib was decent and some of the seafood appetizers and entrees were good. Desserts were good- the melting chocolate cake was very good. Drinks were ok; I liked the martinis at the Alchemy bar; Katarina makes a great vocktail. They had a sports bar with some craft or local beers and otherwise I had premium scotches which was actually included in the Cheers package, which was another pleasant surprise. The coffee shop was also very nice; we got our chai each morning and their Irish coffee or frappe drinks and milkshakes were excellent. What else? The gym- probably our favorite part; as it had no drunk, yelling, obese and obnoxious people . We ran on the treadmill everyday and did some strength and core workouts; they had a nice set of weights and machines and I enjoyed the rowing machine as well. The views could have been better ; and definitely lacked things like bottles of water/Kleenex tissues/ fresh fruits etc in the gym as good gyms usually have. That's another thing which was hard to find- trash cans or tissues- even in the public restrooms. Pools and sun decks - not my favorite place due to the type of people I mentioned earlier. (But I guess that's the average American population these days on cruises like this one) . Our room was conveniently located near the stairwell but unfortunately made the loud music float up every night and our sleep was very disrupted. One thing we enjoyed quite a bit was playing Blackjack and Craps with our friends at the casino. The casino was nice and large but very smoky. Smoke doesn't bother me very much for short periods but my husband caught a upper respiratory illness on board so it was annoying for him. Shore excursions- we actually had not planned this beforehand as it was nowhere comparable to an Alaskan itinerant as far as activities were concerned. Key west and Cozumel were the only ports; and one can drive from Miami to the Keys! We spent the morning walking on the streets and visited Hemingway Museum and climbed the lighthouse tower. At Cozumel we did do a last minute catamaran ride, snorkeling and beach party; saw stingrays and colorful fish and coral beach was great; free beers and margaritas and very nice staff. That was one of the best parts of the trip. Our ship staff did not seem well informed when we asked about activities or food options at the Cozumel port; they made it sound as if there was nothing there at all; when in fact there are several shops, restaurants and bars; albeit very touristy but not as barren as they made it sound. The white sand beach and pristine waters at Cozumel were the only time we actually were in our swimsuits ; I stayed away from the gross pools and whirlpool tubs in our ship which were always crowded. Even the adults only serenity area was crowded. In short- the theme of the cruise was a loud, obnoxious, obese, trashy crowd who got exactly what they paid for and I guess so did we; I feel bad for the workers and staff who come from other countries trying to make a living and work very hard to cater to the demands of this cohort of food wasting, drunk loud Americans. (There was this one man yelling profanities on his cellphone to someone outside my room one evening that a security guy had to be called to watch) Did I sound harsh and snobbish? Well maybe it is because I have had better travels and vacations and have out grown my days when simply getting drunk was great fun. (Our friends came here hoping to make it a family vacation with two little kids and their parents) and we are professional people with busy lives and not much patience for the type of people I described. So , last large cruise vacation for my husband and I - next time we do go on a cruise after some of the trauma fades away, it Silverseas or maybe I d try Regent Seven Seas; read some good things about that one. My husband wants to do an Antarctica or South American itinerary. I d like a Mediterranean cruise too. Hope this review helps some of you out there! Stay away from this if you want relaxation and class! Read Less

We chose the ship solely based on dates, length, itinerary, departure port. This ship was our only choice, we have friends who have sailed on Carnival (as had I in 1991) so off we went. In fairness, before my comments below, fellow passengers looked to be having a great time. We had a great time. I have some positive remarks about the ship: great ship coffee! Great fitness center equipment. I liked this ship's layout -- it was easy to get around. And free soft-serve DIY. We heard other complaints but that's of course not unusual for any cruise. Our other cruising -- about 20 cruises, have been on Princess mainly, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. We've never had service nor a ship like this. Not even close. Boarding in Miami. Free-for-all. Lines that were non-lines (several groups trying to merge into one) outside the terminal. We arrived at our scheduled board time and were in line outside for 45 minutes before getting in the terminal. (thankfully great weather). Indifferent staff gave conflicting information to questions, particularly about baggage that can be carried on. (For the record, the "answer" is in the information Carnival provides in its boarding documents.) Once through security, the cruise check-in staff, unlike all we've ever experienced in the past, could not have been more indifferent. Not a "welcome" not a happy face. Nada. OK, onto the ship. Room: It was ready when we got in at 1:30. But everything we'd read indicated the ship had been refurbished in 2015. The bathroom had a shower curtain that didn't keep the water from flooding (there was a drain on the outside). The sink was pink formica and the hairdryer one of those wall mounted "Elites" from the 70's hotels with a hose. Our sheets had a hole in the bottom, the towels were thread worn (and not fresh smelling) and the upholstery on the footstool was coming off. So big deal, right? It's 4 days, the forecast is perfect and we're going to some ports we're looking forward to. Muster Drill --this was the red flag that hit our radar screen. Totally disorganization. Lack of clarity on who was doing what. It took nearly an hour (we stood the entire time, as did elderly and mothers with babies). And that's with the new "no life jackets" policy, which should reduce time! We asked ourselves the obvious question: If they can't conduct the muster drill efficiently, what would happen in a real emergency? We are very low-maintenance on cabin stewards. Our guy showed up and asked what we needed and when. Great. But then he was pretty much AWOL. All we really want is ice in our bucket at the end of the day. We got our own ice two days out of four. We did get great towel animals about which we care zero. What I did care about is the anniversary $50n spa gift certificate didn't show up (it may have been under some cruise documents) until mid-cruise and the night I found it was the day it expired. (head of service insists it was there on time "take it up with Carnival". Dinner: First two nights, it took over 1/2 hour for our drinks and first courses to arrive, after ordering. This was remedied on the last night by the head bar staff member. Meals: Lines of 10 - 15 minutes for the regular buffet. Every time. Getting back on the ship first day of port: we stood outside the ship for 45 minutes. Sun was hot. Ship decided to send out the karaoke and pass out water. Why? "dock too small". Staff was low-energy and unengaged. This will be our last Carnival Cruise ever (even were one offered for free). Read Less

I sailed on this cruise last Christmas, and decided to sail this year again. This was my 29th cruise, and 5th time on the Victory. We live 30 minutes away from The Port of Miami. Embarkation-I received an email that they wouldn't start embarkation until 1:30. I always get to the port at 11, and since receiving this email, we decided to get there at 1:00pm. We got there and it had begun hours ago. The agents sent us back and forth three times to get checked in for priority boarding. No one knew where to get us checked in. They were all misinformed. Cabin-We had a balcony cabin on the 7th deck. It was remodeled and absolutely beautiful. They have been remodeled like the cabins on the Breeze. Entertainment-They had Christmas activities scheduled every night as well as a Christmas show performed by the dancers, singers, and the children on board. The shows and activities were fun and absolutely beautiful. All of the bands and solo artists were amazing and well as the production shows. Staff-All of the crew and entertainers performed their job with perfection and such smiles on their face at this time of the year. They're so amazing! Dining-We ate in the dining room a few nights and a few on lido. Everything was delicious. We also had the Sea Brunch. We loved it. This was our first time having brunch. The Seafood Shack was delicious. Everything is freshly made as you order it. My mom had lunch here everyday. Everything at the buffet was also delicious. Ship-This ship is always well maintained. It always looks as new as it did when I first sailed on it in 2004. Ports of Call- In Key West, we just walked around since we have been there so many times, and in Cozumel we stayed at the port area shopping and laying down enjoying the sun on the deck chairs under the palm trees. It was so relaxing. Entertainment Staff- Marcelo is our favorite Cruise Director. We have sailed with him 3 times. He's super funny and a true professional. Paulie V., his assistant should be promoted to CD. He's great. Debarkation-Debarkation was smooth, and a lot more organized than embarkation. Read Less

My mom (cabin 1394) wanted me to say Aminade cleaned their cabin very well. we have dinners in the Pacific Dinning Room every night. Our server team have been consistently so patient and nice to our table. I wrote down their name the last night to share it here as appreciation for making our dinner amazing experience. They are Roberto, I Komang and Suardinata. BTW, both Cabins are like brand new and sparkly clean with a mini fridge in each. We can store milk for our daughter's milk drinking at night and early morning. I was so happy about that. There were plenty things to do at both Key West and Cozumel. there was a lesson learned for the tour arrangement. We booked the Top 10 Cozumel. We were priority group left the ship first. We were the first group arrived at the tour waiting area. But the local guide who was holding the sign said our tour would be starting until 2:00pm. So we have 1.5 hours to wonder around. When we came back, we were told our tour left a time ago based on the time on the tickets. Basically, the local guide told us wrong time for some reason. So always trust the time on the tickets, not what they told you. Their English was not the best. In the end, we were refunded the money. Read Less

The wife and I chose this cruise for the destinations(Western Carib) and time (our anniversary). I must say that I will NEVER cruise with carnival again. From food than was one step above garbage to the constant hounding for money from the staff the cruise was enjoyable. It's been 17 years since I sailed with Carnival. I am amazed at just how far they have sunk in quality. Entertainment---- Horrible Organization of onboard events----- horrible 24hr Food------ had my choice of 4 pizzas, one even had paper thin pepperoni Regular food----- McDonalds puts out a better meal Spa---- 4 times the normal price Bar----- double the normal price Photographers hounding you to take pictures, then when we went to view our pictures only a couple out of the 50 or so that were taken could be found. Shopping----- Save your money and buy off the ship for much better deals. We were looking at a Movado watch for my wife. Best price on the ship $850. We found the same watch at Diamonds International for $480. This was consistent with everything sold on the ship. Read Less

We cruise often on Royal or NCL. This year we decided to go on Carnival since they had a 4 day cruise for New Years. This New Years cruise on Carnival Victory was a huge disappointment. The pros, the New Years Party was nice and our room stuart Mina was extremely nice. The cons, At the time of booking the cruise, we choose our time dinning, when we checked in, our card said 6:00 pm dinning, not our mistake. The Guest Service staff were not very friendly or helpful to correct this mistake. We waited an hour on line, to be told they could not help us. Same thing happen to our eleven other friends that were sailing with us. The decks were dirty and sticky, the upper deck by the hammocks had spilled drinks on the floor that were there all throughout the cruise. All the glass windows in the dinning are were filthy, it was difficult to see through them or take pictures. We all had charges to our cards that was not ours, standing in line to talk to guest services was another ordeal, this raised a big red flag since many of the passengers in line had the same issues . One thing that needs immediate attention is the way Carnival performs the emergency drill, the drill is a very important part of cruising in case of an emergency. We stood outside in the heat for approximately an hour, no consideration for the elderly and children, Carnival has to take into consideration that most elderly people can't stand for that length of time, especially in the heat. The other cruise lines perform their drill indoors, where you have the option to seat. This was not a cheap 4 day cruise, we paid as much as we paid on The Oasis and the Allure for 7 days. Overall, we were very disappointed and hope someone from Carnival management reads this to help them improve their services. Read Less

I booked this cruise a week before sailing. It was a great deal that I couldn't pass up, and I live 30 minutes away from the Port of Miami. I always take my 16 year old nephew. He always has a great time. I had my brother drive us to the port. This was my 25th cruise, and the 4th time sailing on this ship. The first time I sailed on it was in 2004, then 2014, and twice this year. The ship is in great condition, very well taken care of, and looks as new as it did when I first sailed on it in 2004. Embarkation was a breeze. We got there at 11:45 and were onboard at noon. I always sail during spring break and summer because I'm a teacher. I had never sailed during Christmas time. I was blown away when I walked into the atrium. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We had great weather in Key West. We walked around Duval Street, and went to the Ripley's Believe it or not Museum. Do not purchase this excursion through the ship if you're a Florida resident because at the museum they give a 50% off to Florida residents. I had purchased it through the ship before and paid $14.99. This time I paid $7.99 at the museum. I always purchase the excursions through Carnival, but we decided to go at the last minute. After the museum, we walked around the stores, and headed back to the ship since there isn't much time at Key West. On our way to Cozumel, we had rough seas. The weather was bad in Cozumel so all water excursions were cancelled. Carnival refunded everyone right away. We stayed in the port area and shopped at the stores since we have been there so many times, and it was pouring rain. On Sunday night, the rough seas continued. The production shows were cancelled, and the entertainment staff did an amazing job scheduling other activities. There were always a lot of fun activities scheduled. On this sailing, they scheduled a lot of fun Christmas activities every night, and on the last sea day, they had a Christmas show performed by the dancers and singers and by all of the children in Camp Carnival. It was absolutely beautiful, and I loved all of the Christmas activities every night. One night there was an ugly sweater contest. I wish I would have known. I have so many Christmas sweaters. I thought about packing one, but didn't think that anyone would be wearing Christmas sweaters. The cruise director was Brian Leavitt. He was very nice, and did an amazing job, but Marcelo on the Victory is my favorite. He is on vacation. The food was delicious in the buffet area as well as in the dining room. My nephew ordered the Lobster for a fee since it is no longer included for formal night. It brings 3 lobster tails. It was delicious as usual. All of the staff was super friendly and happy. I don't know how they can be so happy and do such an amazing job when they're away from their loved ones during the holidays. They're amazing. I highly recommend the Victory. They always have the friendliest staff, and the best entertainment team. Read Less
