Our cabin was ok. We were in 8461, an extended aft view balcony. It was just below the adults only pool so the chlorine smell was a bit strong just outside the cabin door but you couldn’t smell it inside the room at all. Cabin was standard size, balcony was more roomy than a standard balcony (it fit two chairs, a little table, and a lounge chair). Had a great view from standing at the railing. Couple of downfalls - if it wasn’t sunrise or sunset it was hot out there, just not a lot of air movement in that direction. The balcony glass was filthy. If you sat in one of the chairs the railing was literally at eye level and the glass was so dirty you really couldn’t see anything out of it. We even tried cleaning it with a wet towel which did nothing. Lastly the balcony glass slants inward which made it pretty much useless unless you wanted to lay your lounge chair there and pretend you were baking in an oven. Movement wise we did feel some rocking but nothing too bad aside from the last night. Upon return sail were came to a dead stop somewhere near the mouth of the Mississippi and for maybe 30 minutes or so there were a few unsettling bangs and shakes. No idea what happened but we got back to NOLA on time and in one piece. Cabin location in relation to activities was a hike. I didn’t really think that one through when I booked it lol so can’t really complain. Read Less

Wonderfully spacious cabin with a great balcony; we spent hours just watching the ship's wake.

Very small and crowded with only one electrical outlet at desk, found one behind TV by surprise (both opposite of bed) and European outlet in bathroom. Toilet and shower the same size as an RV or boat. Very poor mattress.

This aft cabin is the same size as the regular balcony cabins in the same layout. The balcony contained 2 lounge chairs, 2 standard chairs and a small table. This pretty much filled up the balcony. It was about 8' deep but the sloping glass wall cut it to about 6' when standing at the railing. There was no smoking on any balconies which was great; you didn't have to smell your neighbor’s cigarettes. This cabins balcony can open up to the cabin to the left as you face the front of the ship. If I get an AFT cabin again I think I'd opt for the 7th floor. There was noise from the deck above as they moved chairs and tables. Wasn't a huge deal but you wouldn't have it one floor down. There was more vibration and rocking than I expected, especially being on the highest floor. If the ship is moving expect a constant rumbling. It's not loud and it's more of a vibration than anything else. The location was great, unless you wanted to go to the spa, serenity deck or gym which are all the way at the other end of the ship. But it was very conveinent (1 level up) to the buffets, drink stations, pools and bars. Otherwise go down to 5 for the comedy club, bars and other common areas. We had three people in the cabin so the couch was converted into a bed. I was a little worried about this but actually the back and arms are removed and it is pretty much just like the other two beds. You can certainly get sun on the balcony you just have to time it right. When heading south from Port Canaveral the balcony was comfortable and shaded in the morning hours. By the afternoon the sun is hitting it and even though there was a strong breeze up top there was no breeze on the balcony. It got very hot very fast. One the way back to Canaveral the opposite was true. Marty was our cabin steward for the week and he and his team were great. He always had ice in our cabin for us, always greeted us by name and was very attentive and friendly. We couldn't have asked for a better team to take care of us. Read Less

The cabin was a little smaller that Carnivals usual cabin size for a balcony cabin, however it was big enough and the bed was very comfortable. The shower was great and the seating on the balcony was great as well.

Valor disappointment : Cabin 8452
Balcony unusable. Smokers next door. Carnival tries to appeal to everyone so there is no good, healthy smoking policy. If you don't smoke, it's just tough luck, you have to breathe it anyway or stay off your balcony as we did.
