We researched for months to choose this cruise and we wasnt disappointed. We flew to Orlando the day before to make sure we didn't miss the boat. Embarking went smoothly. Muster did not go very well.. it was a hot day and one or two people passed out from the heat. We got an interior room. It was nice and CLEAN.. The food was good. The entertainment was was nice. We booked a specialty dinner at JiJi Asian restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant...we did an excursion on Dominican Republic and visited a rum distillery. On Grand Turks anither ship was docked. The beach was packed. we took a taxi to a other beach 10 minutes away and laid on the beach all day.. I wanted to book our next cruse before debarking but that didn't happen. .i truly enjoyed our first cruise, at this point, I'm researching my next cruise. Read Less

This was my second cruise I have been on, the sunshine was awesome I loved the people that worked on it they made everything fun,the food was amazing way better than my first cruise. I had the best time of my life on this cruise I swear I did not want to get off. Matter of fact my cousin and I are coming back on the sunshine in October with other family members who have not been on a cruise before so I hope and pray we have as much fun as we did when we went in may. I can not wait to get back on the sunshine. I loved the games they played with the music. The club on the boat was very very fun. The drinks were amazing the kiss on the lips is the best yet. I recommend the carnival sunshine to anyone so I hope it is the same when we get back on in October. : ) Read Less

We chose the cruise for the itinerary as we'd never been to Belize. It is also only an hour from where we live and we looked forward to the short drive. I think my 'booking agent' (husband) said he got a pretty good price on a suite. Only the second time we have ever had a suite, the other being a Costa ship. We are Diamond on RCCL and we think their newer ships are beautifully decorated. Sunshine had cheery hallways with large, Florida style wall art. Maybe that is why the hallways always were so noisy - too cheerful and bright. With the suite, came priority checkin which was really nice because there were long lines outside. Our room was also ready for us so we went right up. The room size was generous and we didn't use all of the drawers or closets. We had all ready been warned on 'Shipmates' about the one wall socket, but we had another in the dressing area. The bathroom had a jetted tub/shower. If you don't like stepping over the tub to get to the shower, this isn't for you. There was a rubber mat, however, so it wasn't slippery. I just love the toilet paper that slides onto an "L" shaped holder, so every time you pull off a strip it flies off across the room! The only room amenity, aside from size, was two complimentary liters of water which were too big to carry off ship, so we only used one. There wasn't any conditioner or lotion but there was gel and shampoo in dispensers in the shower. There were also two robes of nice quality and upgraded design and one tray of cookies. (Very good, I was hoping for more.) We were glad that the draperies were heavy, fully dark and closed ALL the way, to keep our that Caribbean sunshine in the mornings! Our cabin steward, Penny, was delightful. She always remembered our name and she was so upbeat all the time. This is the first trip where we have had a different towel animal every night. Those must take so long to fold and arrange. We were glad to see that Penny had a helper. The other cruises we've done have been cutting back on that and that makes them even more over-worked. Part of the enjoyable experience was the couple at our early dining table. We had fun every evening with them. Again, other lines are doing away with Assigned Dining and we miss that. We joke that we get to see each other 24-7 and we go on cruises to meet people! Someone mentioned 'no coffee' at dinner and we had it every night. Not as good as the Seattle's Best served on other ships. We didn't do any of the entertainment except the comedians. We especially liked Jim Brick and a movie outdoors which is a fun way to see even a bad movie - Independence Day - Resurgence. One other thing we did was splurge on the Unlimited Beverage package. It was fun to try new drinks when price was no object. There were plenty of bars, but we didn't particularly like any of the options. There wasn't a Champagne Bar for an intimate atmosphere. Again, we were looking for some of the options that we have had on other ships. The Norwegian Escape has a beautiful outdoor seating area along one whole deck. It had a bar that opened at noon, and really comfy chairs for reading. It's all personal preference and the more you sail the more you will have to compare to. There is nothing ever really BAD about cruising. Beats cooking at home! Read Less

This was my second cruise ever and once again I chose Carnival. This was the Inaugural Cruise from New Orleans and was really looking forward to it.. Overall the cruise was a great time.. The ship is done with a lot of wood and marble accents. The two Liquid Lounge shows, Latin Nights and Epic Rock, were great shows but sadly only lasted about 35 mins. each. As for the Liquid Lounge Night Club.. It was not my cup of tea..Seemed to be geared more to the 20's age group. The Piano Bar 88 featured 2 entertainers, Seth Gibson the first half of our cruise and then Gary Pickus the second half. Both guys were great and each had their own style. Spent most nights here.. After hearing so many negatives about the cabin smells and such I was a little afraid, BUT when I got to my Cabin I was pleasantly surprised. The Cabin was clean and had no foul odors at all. Everything worked as it was supposed to. Once I figured out how the A/C worked I had it dialed in and it worked great throughout the cruise. I guess the Night Stand is what they were calling the coffee table. lol My Steward, Erwin, and his crew did a fantastic job. Room was cleaned and refreshed at all times.. Even on embarkation day when we boarded at 11 AM my cabin was ready. There were no odors in the hallway at any time. I guess the only negative would be the rolling of the ship that could be felt especially at night and the seas were never that rough but did have 25-30 mph winds most times we were in the Gulf of Mexico. My biggest disappointment was the Karaoke.. They only had 3 days of our 6 day cruise scheduled with karaoke. The time allotted was only 1 3/4 hrs per day. That left a lot and I mean a lot of singers that NEVER got the chance to sing. Karaoke was supposed to be in the Limelight Lounge all three days but one day it was moved to the Piano Bar which was way too small a venue. As for the much touted Superstar Karaoke, it was scheduled for only one day and lasted 1 hr. What a disappointment. This has been brought to the Beards attention and hopefully it will be addressed properly very soon The Sunrise MDR experience was very different from what I experienced on my first cruise on Conquest in May 2013. While the menu was the same.. the quality was not the same. At first the service started off slow but once got started seemed to flow ok.. Marija and her team did a great job for me. One thing I did noticed was that there were very few places a person could go and sit and be a people watcher or sit by a window and just gaze out over the water. Had a great time in Grand Cayman and Cozumel, my first times there. So satisfied that I am taking this ship again Jan 2014. Read Less
