Review for Carnival Sunshine to Bermuda

We chose this cruise mainly for the itinerary. Bermuda was one place we looked forward to visit and an overnight in Charleston was an extra plus, as there was much we enjoyed seeing in this historic city. We enjoyed the old style Carnival ship with the atrium lobby and full length glass elevators, something that Carnival is mistakenly removing from its new ships. We feel The New Light Tower ...

Great time on Sunshine!

This was our 11th Carnival Cruise and we have cruised on RC and Disney. Chose this port because it is only a 5 hour drive for us. Embarkation: Stayed at Wyngate in Mt Pleasant because they have a park and cruise package. It included an overnight stay, light breakfast, and transportation to and from the port. Our driver arrived 20 minutes early so got to ship a few minutes before our 11:30 ...

The good, the great and the not-so-ugly

Review for Carnival Sunshine to Caribbean - Eastern

3/16 to 3/24 West Indies cruise to Turks & Caicos, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts & St. Maartin (9 day). The ship was a lesson in contrasts. Overall, I prefer to take the smaller, older classes of cruise ships over the new mega-ships because I find the crowds more manageable. The Carnival Sunshine fills this desire perfectly. Sections of the boat are a bit dated and you can still feel the 1990's ...

Perfect Cruise & Better than Expected. Best Itinerary Ever

Review for Carnival Sunshine to Caribbean - Eastern

I usually book my cruise based on Itinerary, then read reviews after so I know what to expect. After reading those reviews on this ship, I thought I had a picture.. But after cruising it was way better than expected. I'd like to address some rumors I've read. -Sewer & other smells in hallways: Never smelled anything at Anytime. Whatever was there, if anything, they fixed it. Even Casino ...

Declining quality, increasing crowds

Review for Carnival Sunshine to Caribbean - Eastern

The Carnival Sunshine is a Destiny-Class ship that was originally designed to carry 2,600 passengers. After a $150M refit and rechristening in 2013, space to fit 400 more passengers was added—a more than 15% increase in passenger capacity—but no more crew were added and it certainly appears no more space in the common areas was added to accommodate that increase. As a result, every day on the ...

Rough trip, old boat

Took this ship so we could see Aruba. We knew the ship was older, and were prepared to not be awed. Few things that were troublesome. We had a suite on the back of the boat. Cabin 5340. Our drains drained really slow. water in tub was ankle deep after shower. Very creaky and shuddered a lot where we were. More than i have ever experienced before. I talked to an officer and he told me the run to ...

The Sunshine is our favorite ship, and since we enjoyed it so much the other two times we sailed the Sunshine, we decided to book her again. We like the size of the ship...not to big or too small. There is plenty to do...rope corse, bean bag toss, slides, etc. For the first time, we booked a suite, so we spend a lot of time there and on our balcony. It was a very nice place to relax. The ...

Still a Great Ship

Sunshine did not live up to her name as far as mother nature was concern, as we experience a wetter sail than usual for the Caribbean. But it didn't damper our time on board. Sailed her when she was brand new (Destiny), so this was a second time around sailing on her. Changes were to a positive and she continues to be a GREAT ship to sail on . We enjoyed re-visiting her and would still ...

A Very Pleasant Surprise

Review for Carnival Sunshine to Bahamas

We thought we would finish off our epic family holiday to the US with a cruise around the Bahamas. I'd read a few mixed reviews of the Sunshine, so wasn't sure exactly what to expect. I am very pleased to say that we had the best time during our 5 day cruise on the Sunshine. Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed every day of the itinerary, and there really is something for everyone on board the ...

Just...okay

We chose the Carnival Sunshine due to the fact that it was newly renovated and in a lot of ways resembled the Carnival Vista as far as restaurant selection and it also had a fresher, more neutral colour palette as opposed to the more 70's style reds and browns of the older ships. I read neutral reviews but decided that some of the people may have been overly picky so we went for it. Embarkation ...
