This was a yearly holiday with my sisters, our second Cruise, first on the Spirit. We had the best time, the ship was in great condition, our cabin was cosy but comfortable and very clean, thanks to Cristina and Moh. The staff were very friendly. The dining in the Empire Room was amazing, we had excellent service with Kaur, I Madi and Goran, the food was delicious, there was not one meal we weren't happy with. The Showtime at 7 o'clock was so much fun and a Highlight. The dining in other areas was also excellent and the Serenity Bar was the place to go away from the kids (although we didn't have a problem with any of the children, most were very well behaved and polite). The staff all over the ship were very friendly, we only came across one grumpy one, he must have been tired and don't blame him as they all work so hard and long hours, we only saw him the once. The Ports and excursions were fantastic, except for one, the Mare Island was not one we would bother to go to again. Mystery Island seemed to be everyone's favourite. Loved all the Entertainment, (there was plenty of it, there's no way you could be bored). We met many new friends, including the Staff I have mentioned, we laughed, ate, drank and have great memories. We were sad when the cruise ended and are looking forward to our next Cruise as soon as possible. Read Less

A last minute choice as we would normally do a road trip to Queensland this time of year (Australian Winter). Had only done 2 cruises previously 1 on Azamara Journey....Athens to Barcelona and 2 Celebrity Millenium Singapore to Hong Kong. Price for this local cruise was a big factor and we weren't disappointed with anything. Boarding was very smooth and efficient all tendering and disemarkation very well managed. Delighted with our Guarantee balconcy cabin 4231 at rear of ship...plenty of storage space and layout very good...great bathroom. Cabin steward always happy and remembered our names and cabin beautifully clean. Dinner a Empire dining room was excellent and very attentive waiters. Lido buffet area always clean and food very good. Bar staff always helpful and mostly knew our regular order. Alround nice ship and staff and good value. Not the same demographics of passengers as previous cruises but a very lovely crowd. Read Less

Embarkation and access was easy and smooth. Cabins were not ready but that was to be expected. Went straight to the pool and bar while waited for rooms to be ready. The weather was perfect every day and just hung at the serenity bar away from screaming kids. Noumea, Isle of Pines and Mare Isle were great snorkeling excellent. Food in all areas was good Main restaurant and Lido deck there was always plenty of variety and choice. In general the fish wherever you were was excellent and perfectly cooked. The cabin "Grand Suite" was very comfortable and steward Dennis very obliging. All in all a very good value cruise if you are on a budget. This is our second Carnival cruise it just happens to be 1/2 price of same excursion with Celebrity which would have been our preferred choice. We wanted to go to Isle of Pines and that is what we did. Celebrity is a great choice if you have kids and want value for money. Though they try and gouge you at every corner so watch your bill. Last Cruised in - 1980 , P & O Oriana, Catch up with friend on short cruise from back then. Find out what Cruising in 2018 Was like. Excellent time on Carnival Spirit, All Service was good , ship was good , Crew Good, Ship was easy to get around on , to all relevent facilities.food in buffet area very good. Especially enjoyed made to order Omletes for breakfast, Empire Restaurant excellant with Your Time Dining option. Drinks a little bit expensive side , but what heck most pubs in Sydney charge too, Carnival bars catered for Aussie Beers , on Tap , which was a plus , Tooheys , VB , xxxx, Plus their own brew Thirsty Frog. ALL bars had table service for lazy time people , Only one disapointment, was Shore Excursion to Cascade Brewery facility was not operating, but was a Saturday. $100.00 ouch. Cost of cruise was good. Good time had will cruise again. On Carnival or P& O etc Read Less

We were hesitant about carnival but it suited for a quick trip after 5 days in sydney we did the same cruise 11yrs ago on a P&O ship but spirit was much better, we weren't planning on doing shore excursions due to the cost and we had previously been there. Only got off in noumea to get free WiFi it is very expensive on ship. We had a minor issue with seating at emerald dining room as we wanted a table for 2 but it was quickly sorted out. For my husband's birthday we booked nouveau Restaurants it was the most amazing meal best steak hubby has ever had side dishes, dessert and service was top class it was worth alot more than $45 each. All other times we ate at emerald dining room we could not fault the food, service or atmosphere, we were very very blessed to have a private tour and tasting in galley for emerald it was amazing something l had always wanted to see CYRIL the chef was lovely and explained all the ins/outs of the kitchen, produce and training we loved the opportunity and really made it special many thanks to isabella from dining room for selecting us.. The shows were great and always little activities if you wish to do them, oncecagain many thanjs to all for a wonderful job. Read Less

This was our first cruise and we chose Carnival because of the price and that it covered our birthdays. Our trip started well with the shuttle from the airport it was easy to use,( they found us) quick and our luggage was well taken care of at the port. Our cabin was a pleasant surprise comfortable and very clean. Later we found it to be well appointed. We sailed out of Sydney and the views from the ship were outstanding. We used most of the dining options, and enjoyed all of them. The Empire being our favourite not just because of the great food, but because of Dessi and her marvelous team who not only feed us each night but entertained us. Our waiter Godfrey sand and danced for us each night. We enjoyed the Red Frog Pub and again our waiter Eka gave us personal attention. The stops at the islands were wonderful, some with not a lot of touristy things which was nice. Our cabin stewards Turi and Andi keep our cabin in very good order and went out of their way to help us celebrate our birthdays with messages in colour pens on the mirrors. We found that all the staff we came in contact with remembered our names and made us feel like we were special. Lastly the young people who put on all the shows, Wow what talent. The comedy club, very entertaining. We travelled from Adelaide to join the ship, We are a couple late 60's and early 70's. We disembarked with ease, no rush, shuttle to the airport in time for our flight. Would we do it again...........in a heart beat. Thank you Carnival. Read Less

Cabin: 7147. Conveniently located to the Forward lifts. Right above Pharaoh and Versailles venues and the children/teen venues so perfect in the late evening. A five minute walk to the Empire Dining Room located Aft. Only noise was the odd inconsiderate neighbour or rowdy person walking past but that happens anywhere. No noise from staff trolleys. Dining: Oh my! Chef's Table. $AUD $90 per person and every dollar well spent. An amazing degustation experience. The Empire Dining Room is great value for a quality food experience. Staff are attentive and knowledgable of ingredients (I am coeliac - see my extensive positive review elsewhere). The entertainment around 6:30pm for the early sitting diners was always a lot of fun too. The plating was superb: artistic and caring. The Lido: If the more serene or higher class environment of the Empire is not to your liking or you require huge quantities of food then the Lido is for you. Plenty of buffet food. The Pizza Pirate pizzas are much worse then Pizza Hit but available in the wee hours of the morning so you can't really complain. The Blueiguana Cantina: great mexican style food. Embarkation: Absolutely no problem as there are staff every several metres to guide you along. The Government officers are also very chill, very unlike the airport experiences we all loath. You will be on board and holding a buffet tray in no time. Any queue moves along continuously so there is never the sense of frustration from slowness. Enrichment Activities: I was too busy for any of that. Entertainment: We had two comedians most nights. A singing (miming) and dancing production number most nights. A magician on other nights. Keyboard player plus singer at various locations such as the Atrium every night and the Alchemy bar and the list goes on and on. The resident band is your typical small group of older musicians with an obviously very extensive repertoire of hits through all the rock decades. If you are well travelled through Asia you will be used to the dodgy enunciation of lyrics but with the "rock" standards their guitar playing says it all as they were always great fun to dance to. Movies show in the pool area and are freely available on multiple channels in your stateroom from 12 and every 2 hours after 24/7. Or on demand for an extra cost. Tons of TV channels but availability depends on ship and satellite position. At times more extensive than the usual range of free options throughout the world. The daily bulletin, delivered to your room nightly, lists most but not all entertainment. Get out and explore. I discovered the entertainment at the Alchemy Bar in this manner. Trivia: I was too busy for any of that but it was extensive, varied and very frequent. Fitness & Recreation: The gym does NOT have a bench press. Nice collection of bells. Spin is well catered. The Green Thunder (renamed Brown Thunder after my first plunge hehehe) and the sedate yellow slide are set apart from the main pool area. Pity that as they are both under utilised beyond the first day or two. When standing in the Green Thunder, take a deep breath before the floor drops away. Just as you would if anticipating getting dumped while body surfing in a two metre swell, for example. Mini golf I didn't do. Onboard Experience: The fact I searched for upcoming cruises the moment I got home says it all. Public Rooms: From toilets to dining to the library and chapel to any public area: always clean or in the process of being cleaned. The copper paint in the Atrium is gaudy I know but I am so glad the decor themes were not uniform throughout. If uniform then the experience would get stale quickly. Well maintained. Something broken? You can count on a repair person in overalls arriving shortly! Service: The staff are well trained and knowledgeable. The Lido staff were occasionally and obviously trying to take a shortcut to avoid having to go back-room to prepare or fetch something to fulfil a request but you get that anywhere. You only need to directly ask once and they will fulfil a special request. Shore Excursions: The available literature pointed to our day in Mare as being the ONLY beach day. So I paid for a bus trip to take us to an okay coral beach. The next day, at Isle of Pines, right in front of our ship was an amazing yellow sand beach which stretched for hundreds of metres. And all free. Lesson learnt. Price wise, there is less price gouge with Carnival than with RCCL by a long way. Value for Money? Very much so. Will go again on this ship. Read Less

Got a great price for balcony room. Cabins bigger than expected and serviced beautifully. Dining room - awesome food & service and entertainment mid dinner was fantastic. The ship was awesome, clean and friendly staff. Entertainment needs a bit of a shakeup. The sound needs seriously looking at during performances in Pharoahs Lounge. The oncrew singers sounded dreadful most of the time. Dancing and stage effects were great. Some of the comedy was great. The serenity area (adults only) too small (couldn't get a lounge in sun - taken mainly by adults with young children on board) and directly under the noisy screams of kids using the waterslides. Maybe need to bring in entry to adults area by sail card and if children under 13 assigned to your room - no entry. Would never go on this ship during school holidays (unless with my own grandkids) Cost of drinks too high. Bingo far too expensive and 3 games - line only, 1 game - 2 lines, 1 game - full house. Having done two previous cruises we were offered a great deal for this cruise This was supposed to take us to Isle of Pines, Mystery Island, Suva, Port Denerau and then Noumea. Our first stop became Noumea, owing to a mechanical issue. I am not fond of Noumea, but we went to The Aquarium, I had not been there on the previous two visits. It is a must see in my view. Mystery Island was beautiful We did a glass bottom boat tour. I highly recommend it. Suva, went on a scenic tour that included the farmers market. I did not like the market, but getting outside of Suva was good. Port Denerau was great also. Loved Fiji, but the tour guy on the Suva tour, shook hands with every one expecting tips..not good. We missed out on the Isle of Pines, owing to a medical emergency as we had to go back to Suva. I wish we could have stayed in Suva for the day. Four days ship bound is not great in my books Overall it was a good trip We ate most of our meals in the Empire. I was put off Lido as people dropped utensils at the salad bar, picked them up and put back for reuse ( urghhhhh ) Read Less

Thanks to all the staff and everyone else involved with in and around the Carnival Spirit. My friend and I had the most relaxing, but busy if we wanted to be trip. Everything is very well organized and nothing seemed to be of any trouble . Embarkation and Disembarkation on and off the ship at all ports run like clock work but in a very relaxed manner. Every night you new what was on for the next day, as it was left on your bed when the staff had prepared your room for the night. Plenty of activities to keep all ages busy. Plenty of food and also nice cold drinking water with plenty of ice. Plenty of coffee machines with fancy one's at the coffee shop, which was reasonable priced. Dining was easy at all places, and the service was great. Great Gym, Slides, staff amazing in all areas, even the Pool towel service was easy. Well done. Be proud of what you do for everyone on board. Read Less
