Great Embarkation, no problems, straight in and treated like royalty. Good price cruise $76.65 per day. Great to have a priority for Water Shuttles. A NICE SURPRISE, at dinner time in the Empire Dinning Room, when it was “Show Time”, the music started (D’Amore”)but the singer wasn’t there so Dessi, the Maître D, started to sing. After a while a waiter helped her and when he couldn’t sing any more another waiter jumped in to help. It was really lovely to see that team work in the dining room. Also somebody proposed to his girlfriend. It was very emotional, then Dessi asked them to dance while one of her staff sang the song “Crazy”. Another good feeling was when I wore, for the first time a new pair of earrings, for the Elegant night and I realised that I lost one. I went to Guess Services and it was there!!! It was found in the Pharaoh’s Palace. I was impress with the honesty of the serving staff. NEGATIVES : Some people put in multiple entry raffle tickets for The FA FA Show, when it suppose to be only one per person. There has to be a way to avoid that. The FA FA Show was too long, no need of extra talking,(1 hour and 10 min.) Wed brunch was very slow. I just asked for a Smoked Salmon B’fast and it took more than 1/2 hour to arrive. But that was the only time that that happened. Read Less

Saw an advertised “special deal” on Carnival - $749 for 8 nights so wanted to see if we would enjoy a longer cruise in possibly a different region with them. Food in restaurant, service and staff excellent. Ship was kept spotlessly clean. Cabin 4118 was spacious and our Cabin Steward, Ketut, maintained the room to a very high standard. He addressed us by name at all times, enquired about our activities and always had a welcoming smile. Lots of fun trivia, Serenity area was a bonus, entertainment was on par with other cruise lines. Only minor downside was the setup of the food in the Lido. We found it very spread out and difficult if you wanted to eat different food but enjoy it at the same time as the group you were travelling with. Overall it was a great experience and would definitely book another Carnival cruise. My daughter did a Caribbean cruise with Carnival 3 years ago and says she would also book another cruise with them. Read Less

We cruised to Melbourne to tick another bucket list. Carnival Spirit was great. We partied and had a great time. Between the band The Manila Boys and Donnie the music was fantastic. You dances every night. The violin players were amazing and added the touch of elegance. High tea is a must and the trivia games keep you alert. The fellow guests were all there to have fun and the crew could not be more helpful. Our cabin Steward was fantastic and looked after us. Yes Carnival you know how to put together a great Melbourne Cup Cruise and I would recommend it to any one. Planning our next cruise with Carnival and we hope Ellie, The Manila band and Donnie are all there to entertain us. Would recommend you loose 5kg before you go or pack your gym cloths as there is souch food and drinks you will gain 10kg easily and enjoy every minute of it. Read Less

This was a yearly holiday with my sisters, our second Cruise, first on the Spirit. We had the best time, the ship was in great condition, our cabin was cosy but comfortable and very clean, thanks to Cristina and Moh. The staff were very friendly. The dining in the Empire Room was amazing, we had excellent service with Kaur, I Madi and Goran, the food was delicious, there was not one meal we weren't happy with. The Showtime at 7 o'clock was so much fun and a Highlight. The dining in other areas was also excellent and the Serenity Bar was the place to go away from the kids (although we didn't have a problem with any of the children, most were very well behaved and polite). The staff all over the ship were very friendly, we only came across one grumpy one, he must have been tired and don't blame him as they all work so hard and long hours, we only saw him the once. The Ports and excursions were fantastic, except for one, the Mare Island was not one we would bother to go to again. Mystery Island seemed to be everyone's favourite. Loved all the Entertainment, (there was plenty of it, there's no way you could be bored). We met many new friends, including the Staff I have mentioned, we laughed, ate, drank and have great memories. We were sad when the cruise ended and are looking forward to our next Cruise as soon as possible. Read Less

I choose this cruise Because of the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff .Far supérieur than of have met on all cruises l have been. Stewards are amazing at remembering everyone’s names. Due to cancelled flight, didn’t get a chance to explore Sydney . Embarking was easy, we opted for the take bags off ship 7am get ready in area to dis embark.. Easy was directed up lift to awaiting taxis. We had issues with the balcony door not closing properly ./fridge very noisy / and paint fumes . All of these issues were taken seriously and address promptly , ,! We opted for dinner at the Nouveau restaurant first night and were again given first class treatment . The meat melts in your mouth and is heavenly. Disappointed by the fake offer of free wine first night,, apparently per table Not per person.false advertising l believed.!. So my partner sat at another table . We still could talk and got our free wine as well which was not the best but 2 glasses in it was drinkable.. The punchline comedy club was great with great A plus comedians and R rated. Shows Also :The Marriage show was a scream .so funny and r rated l think and plenty of activities and entertainment for children to play games .Guess who l am and build a tower taking middle and blocks out .The Empire Room was used for dinning every evening and we loved the happy family vibes that the staff gave out . The matridi and singers at show time / dinner time was great entertainment .We did some ship booked excursions but it was easy to book off ship at some places. Ship at Noumena has a bus that takes and return s people to the ship . Drops off along the waters edge and a walk to shops and large information centre to view assortment of other tours . Traveling with another cabin buddy who was very pleasant and considerate ,we had a fun time all up . I plan to go back but not happy they are moving to Brisbane. Last thing was the entertainment same old shows but new actors Unsure if that is common for a yr or a certain time span. For frequent travellers it’s a bit boring but the new actors singers put their version of the show into a different light . Read Less

Overall, we had a fabulous time aboard the Carnival Spirit. We enjoyed the wide variety of eateries that were included in the cruise and had no complaints. Facilities were wonderful and the staff even more so. The ship's resident entertainment group was wonderful but found some of the guest entertainment average but not everyone has the same taste. We loved all the ports and tender service was very good, much more organized than some of the previous cruises we have experienced. Only complaints were the prices of alcohol and the fact there were no packages other than bottles of wine. Even a coffee shop package would be great for all those who like to indulge. We often like to just relax in our cabin and watch a movie but found this very poor unless you wanted to pay. Shore tours were overpriced. Saying so, we would not hesitate to go Carnival again as overall it was better than we expected. Read Less

Exceeded my expectations, the accommodation was spotlessly clean, the staff were very friendly and the overall atmosphere was very laid back. The amenities on board were excellent and the gym & entertainment provided was more than sufficient to pass away the time. The food was excellent and there was plenty of food variety if you look around and try the different options available. The ship is massive and a lot of time can be spent just walking around it. Ports of Call Isle of Pines was beautiful. The locals sold food at stalls and there is a resort where you can rent kayaks and paddle boards. The snorkelling is very good as well and the beach lovely. Noumea is the capital and a proper city. Most things were closed when we arrived. We took the water taxi to Duck Island. There was beautiful snorkelling here but the beach is basically broken coral. There is a restaurant/resort on the island but it is extortionate and they struggled with peak service for people. Read Less

I am one of six sisters' who sailed. The youngest sister was about to join the 'fifties' club hence something new and exciting for us all to do together. We did not choose to explore Sydney before departure as we had lunch and catch up with family living in Sydney. Remarkably embarkation was pretty good considering the long queues. I can't compare as I said my first ever cruise. Dining, Cabin, Entertainment & Activities, Ports & Shore excursions, Ship Services were fantastic. As with life you can't please all of the people all of the time so I have my negatives too. I never found peace & quiet anywhere on board. There were too many children and although there were awesome entertainers, one in particular would have been best suited in a Surrey pub not the Shanghai Bar on a cruise ship. Would I sail again with Carnival Spirit, absolutely but next time I will upgrade to a balcony room and sail for less days. Read Less

Everything from the staff and crew, accommodation, food, entertainment, shore excursions, embarking and debarkation, was awesome. Our first cruise and there wasn't one thing we weren't over the moon about. Our cabin was totally beyond our expectations. So much room, a whirlpool spa in the our ensuite, double sinks, all spotless. Dressing room, private balcony with plenty of furniture, such a comfortable mattress and the softest pilllows on the kingsize bed, numerous towels, including a different towel animal everyday, large couch and lovely comfy reading chair. Huge amount of cupboard and drawer space for clothes, cases and shoes. Lots of lights for every occasion, soft and romantic, spotlight for bedtime reading, bright lights for dressing and general use. Ample fridge, plenty of glassware and fresh water everyday. Meals and dining staff were incredible. Food was delicious, wasn't one thing we ate that we didn't enjoy, staff Kostigan, Wayan and the other dining staff in that group, went over and beyond to look after us. Dining room entertainment was awesome, especially, Cathy, the waitress who sang on three of the nights on our cruise. We think Cathy could sing anywhere in the world and get the same standing ovation she got in the Empire Room. Entertainment was great, from the fantastic shows in the Pharaoh's Palace theatre,to the comedian's in the Versailles Lounge, all the soloists and duos around the various bars and the Atrium were wonderful. Loved all our excursions, Mare, Mystery Island, Lifou and Noumea all held their own charm. The staff on the tenders were helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Our Steward, Fredie, went out of his way to be helpful and informative in his quiet respectful way, our suite was always impeccable and the bed made perfectly everyday. Can't wait to go on our next cruise with Carnival and can't recommend them highly enough. Read Less

Overall positive experience. Traveled with a group of girlfriends. EMBARKATION • Leaving Sydney is easy, train or bus to circular quay and 5-10 minute walk if you are not carrying a lot of luggage. • Waiting time was ok. SHIP OVERALL& SERVICE • Standard décor and easy to navigate. • Happy cheery staff who sang and danced in the main dining room. Our waitor was a funny man. CABIN • Had balcony room for 3 people. The interior was okay but the actual balcony was small. It was not possible for 2 people to lay down. FOOD • Chicken schnitzel was amazing! A must try • Main dining room was pretty good, steward was cheery and encouraged us to try more food, generous portions. • Buffet breakfast was great, we lived right under the buffet so it was very convenient. • Drinks – paid ones were good, but the free soda/lemonade tasted very bland. ENTERTAINMENT • Green thunder was a great experience, but I must admit, is scary at countdown… • Mini golf on board, appears to be good for families. PORTS • N/A this was a sampling cruise. Read Less

We were hesitant about carnival but it suited for a quick trip after 5 days in sydney we did the same cruise 11yrs ago on a P&O ship but spirit was much better, we weren't planning on doing shore excursions due to the cost and we had previously been there. Only got off in noumea to get free WiFi it is very expensive on ship. We had a minor issue with seating at emerald dining room as we wanted a table for 2 but it was quickly sorted out. For my husband's birthday we booked nouveau Restaurants it was the most amazing meal best steak hubby has ever had side dishes, dessert and service was top class it was worth alot more than $45 each. All other times we ate at emerald dining room we could not fault the food, service or atmosphere, we were very very blessed to have a private tour and tasting in galley for emerald it was amazing something l had always wanted to see CYRIL the chef was lovely and explained all the ins/outs of the kitchen, produce and training we loved the opportunity and really made it special many thanks to isabella from dining room for selecting us.. The Cruise Director Lee Mason is a very entertaining guy and quite hilarious. We ensured not to miss any of his shows. Kid loved the 24 hour Pizza and Ice cream counter. Ensure to embark on the cruise with huge appetite as there are huge options for dining every day. Burger Joint, BBQ, Salads, Dessert and much more. This was our first cruise and we chose Carnival because of the price and that it covered our birthdays. Our trip started well with the shuttle from the airport it was easy to use,( they found us) quick and our luggage was well taken care of at the port. Our cabin was a pleasant surprise comfortable and very clean. Later we found it to be well appointed. We sailed out of Sydney and the views from the ship were outstanding. We used most of the dining options, and enjoyed all of them. The Empire being our favourite not just because of the great food, but because of Dessi and her marvelous team who not only feed us each night but entertained us. Our waiter Godfrey sand and danced for us each night. We enjoyed the Red Frog Pub and again our waiter Eka gave us personal attention. The stops at the islands were wonderful, some with not a lot of touristy things which was nice. Our cabin stewards Turi and Andi keep our cabin in very good order and went out of their way to help us celebrate our birthdays with messages in colour pens on the mirrors. We found that all the staff we came in contact with remembered our names and made us feel like we were special. Lastly the young people who put on all the shows, Wow what talent. The comedy club, very entertaining. We travelled from Adelaide to join the ship, We are a couple late 60's and early 70's. We disembarked with ease, no rush, shuttle to the airport in time for our flight. Would we do it again...........in a heart beat. Thank you Carnival. Read Less

My family and I decided to go on a Carnival cruise for my grandfathers' birthday since none of us had ever been on a cruise before and it sounded like something the kids would enjoy as much as the adults. And I've got to say... I am very impressed. The kids had an absolute blast on the waterslides and pool- which conveniently had seating around the area so we could put down stuff and sit down. They also loved the mini-golf course, free ice-cream/pizza and enjoyed going to the Camp Ocean together when the adults needed a break. The only issue we had with the onboard activities was with our teenage girls (13 and 15) who felt that there wasn't much for them to do during the day and they didn't enjoy the teen club. But they really really had great fun watching the brilliant shows in the theatre ( Pharaoh's Palace) and the "Dive In" Movies during the night. The area we dined in ( Empire ) was beautiful and the food was great! The whole family loved the theme nights and having different meals to choose from. The service was exceptional and we left with content and full bellies every night. The buffet (Lido) was good and where we all met up for a delicious, homey breakfast & lunch the majority of our stay and it was always our go-to area when it was open. And a shoutout to all the other bars/restaraunts like Red Frog & Blue Iguana which has some very tasty food/drinks!! After 2 days at sea, we did get to Isle of Pines which was astounishing. I think the reason for it beauty was because it seemed very natural and unidustrial. The beach was gorgeous and the people were very nice and welcoming. Even though it rained, it was still amazing and I didn't want to get out of the water. Unfortunately, I didn't go to Lifou because the heat made me feel unwell so I stayed on the boat, but my family spoke quite fond of it so I assume it was good. On the last stop ( which was Noumea) we were all very disappointed. One of the youngest children we brought along with us (5 years old) had been looking forward to Noumea for 6 months now and she was really upset to find that Noumea was no different to a typical, quiet city. The beaches weren't very good and the markets were busy but had nothing to offer. The New Caledonia Aquarium they loved though, and got them interested in fish that could be swimming underneath them while they were on the boat. But the best part of the whole cruise was the people/service. Everyone was very happy and just genuinely nice. The people who cleaned the rooms always said hello to us when we walked by. The people offering drinks by the pool were dancing. The people who performed on stage at the shows were enthusiastic and wanted to dance with the kids. And of course the waiters at the Empire room the served my family every night ( thanks to much Salindra) and were just so kind and compassionate with us. Overall, the Carnival Spirit experience was brilliant, and my family and I would definetly recommend it and go again. Thank you Read Less

This is my second cruise on this ship in the past 12 months and have another planned. The Food was awesome as usual but we had some issues with maintenance, surprisingly as it had come out of dry dock month earlier A couple of the public toilets broke, flooded and where out of order, The complete ship went dark and we had no power at one point. The entertainment was great, the shows conducted are of a very high standard, comedy shows were also very good. The ship was relatively clean and service was great from dinning staff and room Stewart. Overall experience was great with some issues during the cruise. The weather was a bit cold and windy which was a bit of a shame. Not much swimming. I was disappointed about the casino area allowing very obviously intoxicated people in the area, gambling and continuing drinking. They lost their cash obviously. Read Less

Having cruised before we are totally disgusted with many things whilst traveling with Carnival cruise lines. Before our journey began we notified the booking office to inform them of our health issues with food and mobility. We felt assured we would be treated kindly regarding these. However we were talked into purchasing a Faster to the Fun package which would help us erase the delays with lining up and disembarking. This package was purchased with by my sister to whom I was traveling with as we both have similar health issues. When boarding the ship we were pleased to see we went direct to board .Well done. However we were under the understanding that our luggage would be ready in our room upon boarding, it never took place. We were not able to go into our cabin until approx. 4pm and then this was when the luggage was delivered to the passage. Not inside as lead to believe. Our cabin fridge was minus a tray or shelf and we asked the cabin assistant to find us one as the fridge was actually leaking moisture inside and medication needed to be stored .To this day we still never received it. In regards to the mustering station we do understand these are high priority and we respect that. However . found it extremely hard to stand for such a long time as I suffer from a foot problem and I was forced to stand for approx. 30 minutes or more. The briefing was very short and I was left feeling the need to medicate for pain after this. This was pathetic for others like us with disabilities. This needs to change as it does not offer the elderly any consideration at all. The day of boarding we headed to the main restaurant to set up the food allergies we both have and felt happy in knowing our needs would be met. We were not offered or informed of any food options in the Lido deck. We were only offered the menu to book in for the evening dining only at this stage. It was during the day I went to the Lido deck for a snack and when I started to eat a hot chip I realized it was garnished with seasoning, even though I had asked previous to this if it contained garlic, my allergy. I was ill within no time at all and was unable to enjoy my first night of dining at the main dining area. I then went on to spend my night and the following morning vomiting and was so ill I had to dial for The Medical Centre who offered wheelchair assistance to go to the A deck Medical team . I incurred a $637:50 account in which I feel should not have been a fault or miss judgment by myself. The day of discharge from the ship Medical Centre I was left feeling unable to eat in the main restaurant as pre planned and when I phoned to see if the set meal could be delivered to the cabin I was told they couldn’t do that, but she would ring us back to confirm. It was some time later that the meal arrived with no one informing us. It was unfortunate I had to phone room service to order a coffee to be sent to cabin as I was not able to order with my meal. This was added to my account.. It wasn’t until we asked at the service desk for assistance with eating in the lido lounge the service desk paged LORETO the head chef He was shocked to hear of us being unable to eat with limited options being available and he was more than happy to assist us with anything we requested during dining in the lido deck. This was day 3 LORETO cooked for us and we were happy knowing our food could be tailored to our allergies. In regards to the main dining room Waiters and Waitresses were unable to offer us anything different from the menu list, no varieties given only the option to take the garlic or pepper from the food out, often leaving this boring and tasteless. There were times we asked for alternative food to be added e.g. gravy, bacon etc......................................... it never came. It was on the second last night of dining we asked why we had not been offered a Cheese Platter like those dining around us. After asking we were finally offered one .We finally had something more appetizing to enjoy. We would dearly like to ask what we gained in purchasing our Faster to the Fun package as we found the disembarking on a gangway for entry to and from ports too long from gateways etc .We found that there was no priority given and we often found ourselves standing in line just like everyone else. This money spent prior to sailing is misleading and a total rip off. As we stated above this is not the first cruise either of us has taken and never have we experienced the lack of control by staff in regards to rules for children and never seen such lack of respect to those either elderly or disabled as children were allowed to run through the casino. Bars and corridors quite often unattended by parents…… this we found to be huge hazard many times during our cruise We often look forward to the joy of being able to attend the day spas. Never have we left feeling like we were not worthy of being there. The service was great and we do understand the needs for up selling of your products but we take offense to staff telling us we have either to lose weight or to look after ourselves better. We never came on this cruise to be judged by your staff (doing their job the way they are encouraged to do by the rules which you govern your cruise liner). We don’t always have the best of everything but we don’t need to feel awkward either. Yes we felt we had to purchase some of the products but even when we were told they would be delivered the following morning to the cabin this still took 3 days. We do not understand why we had to sign 2 receipts when we don’t agree with the gratuities as this is not even offered as an option. We honestly feel we have no choice but to be honest in saying this was not the cruise trip we thought it was going to be. Read Less

This was a short cruise to celebrate our anniversary. Unfortunately we had terrible weather which was not Carnival's fault obviously. We are in our 50s and definitely the wrong demographic for Carnival. Dining room and buffet were very chaotic experiences. We did have a lovely dinner in the Nouveau Restaurant but the food in the dining room was very average. Only one room clean per day where most cruise lines are morning and evening. Cabin was old and in need of repair, particularly the mouldy bathroom. Lovely adults area, Serenity, unfortunately it is right below the Waterworks so constant screaming children which negates the serenity! The staff were friendly but mostly looked dishevelled and tired. Our biggest complaint was the smoking areas which are huge and right near the main pool area where family and children spend their day. Smoking areas should be well away from the main public areas, very unpleasant to walk around those decks, constant clouds of smoke. Read Less

I had heard of the queues on cruise ships but never experienced them until this trip. A diabolical nightmare embarking and a line wait for absolutely everything. The only time we didn't wait for anything was attending a show and I was stunned to see the theatre half empty. The ship's decor is very dark and gloomy and an ugly brown greets you everywhere. The service was appalling! I've cruised before where a smile greets you everywhere and you're never without someone asking if you need a refill. Staff on this ship all looked emotionless and appeared to walk around with broom and shovel but never doing anything. We saw our cabin attendant ONCE when we boarded and never again. One day our room wasn't even attended to from how we left it in the morning. The food was bland and tasteless. Service again in the buffet emotionless and dull. Can't fault one waiter Coco in the dining room who was a bundle of energy and delightful. Cabin also dark and gloomy. We had an extended balcony and the door didn't shut properly so we put up with a howling whistle for the whole cruise. Asked someone to look at it - they looked at it and that's all they did. Paid for the steak restaurant one night and my daughter was violently ill that night from whatever she ate. An expensive cruise where you paid for absolutely anything extra. Couldn't wait to get off and won't be cruising with Carnival again that's for sure. Read Less
