We just wanted a short, fun getaway for the holiday weekend, and I would say overall we did get that. Having just cruised Royal Caribbean last October for our anniversary, we chose Carnival for pretty much one thing: the food. We were so disappointed with the food on RC, and decided to choose Carnival for this little escape. Hands down, Carnival always has the best food, whether in the buffet or the pay restaurants. The ship: Liberty is a smaller ship, and she's showing her age in some spots. Getting on board was painless after navigating the super-crowded terminal area. Getting off the ship when we returned home was confusing and at times chaotic. This is where we learned if you get off the elevator at the stern of the ship on the 3rd or 4th deck, you can't make it back to the mid-ship where debarkation was happening. 2 pools- a small "adult only" pool aft, and the larger, party pool midship. Both of these are on the 9th deck. 1 bar at the adult pool, 2 at the party pool. We didn't disembark in the Bahamas, choosing to stay onboard and enjoy the pool. Our cabin: We had a balcony room at the aft on deck 8. Remember the pool is on deck 9? Well, every morning between 4 and 5am, the crew arranged deck chairs by dragging and clanging them around so much so that I had to call guest services on both Friday and Saturday to ask them to stop-which, amazingly, they did. The doorways are extremely narrow in the cabins. Keep this in mind when it comes to room service or large suitcases. Plenty of closet space and hangers. The bathroom is surprisingly spacious, but with just a shower curtain to contain shower spray, the entire floor will get wet, and the little bath mat they give you won't keep up. Balcony was nice, bed was amazing and soft, as were the pillows. The food: Nothing comes close to their food, IMO (see comments above). Probably my favorite surprise was the Guy Fieri burger bar, where hamburgers are hand-made (not frozen patties), and they offer a toppings bar that includes peppers, real crumbled bacon and sautéed onions, among other things. There is also a deli, omelet bar, and a BBQ buffet on the 10th deck above the buffet restaurant on the 9th with outstanding brisket, ribs and pulled pork. And, if you like chocolate, they offer a chocolate buffet on the "sea day" (Saturday) with all things chocolate: cakes, pies, cookies, drizzles and sauces, ice creams....I could go on. And lest we forget the Carnival Melting cake... The entertainment: We caught the R rated comedy act on Friday night, but I was disappointed that the show was only 30 minutes long. We got to see several musicians at various spots, and they were all very good. We did not, however, see either of their 2 headliner shows, but heard they were quite good. The casino is a good size, though smoking is allowed and by the end of the night you will be hot, sweaty, and smell like an ashtray. But, the slots liked to pay out, so at least there's an upside to that! They offer many table games including roulette, craps, poker and blackjack, and there must've been some winning going on there too because we heard several excited folks yell out. The service: So, aside from the food, I will have to admit this the second amazing thing Carnival has going for it. Rarely saw a crewmember without a smile. Our steward "Deny" did an amazing job with our room. We were surprised by two 1 liter bottles of water in our room for being "returning guests". Most notably, however, was guest services reaching out to us regarding being rudely awakened at 5am two mornings in a row. They apologized profusely, and comped us a steak dinner at their steakhouse. Again-incredible food. But I was more impressed at how they took accountability of the situation. Read Less

Although I enjoyed my trip a lot the ship was kind of a disappointment. Not upkeep as needed. Seems and feels old. Need more shaded areas! Guy burgers and the Mexican spot are the best! Buffet was really bad with very limited choices. Dining room (Renoir?) wasn't the best either. My room steward, Sagi, is excellent! Cruise director "byei" got to be annoying. Carnival also has to organize the tendering process. This is my second experience where I found at last minute we need a ticket number to access a tender, which ironically, was not needed when I went. If needed, let people know in advance (including pertinent information for people with excursions) with announcements and in the daily paper delivered to the cabins. Was the piano bar ever opened? The Hispaniola duo was great although seeing the singer using the inhaler so much was disturbing. He is a great singer; hope take good care of himself. Read Less

Okay so this was my very first cruise and I'm here to leave an honest review of it. I'm going to give a brief review of every aspect of this fun vacation! Carnival Dream Ship Okay so the ship was huge. I know I don't have any to compare it to but my friend I travelled with had been on two Royal Carribean cruises and said this ship was much much bigger. There was a nice running track viewing the ocean, a basketball court, clubs, casino, mini golf, and nice slides for the kids. The casino was always full but always had slots available. The clubs were never full and looked boring. I think there were only two small pools and I never even got the chance to dip in them because it was always too crowded. However, I didn't make much of an effort to get in the pool either. The hot tubs were always full so I never made it in any of them either and there quite a few of them so it was disappointing I never made it in. The ship was always kept clean and there was rarely a dull moment. Cabin We were on the very bottom floor with one of the cheapest rooms so our cabin was very small and we could feel the boat rocking a lot. Our beds were not super comfortable. The bathroom was not very nice at all as it looked a little outdated and very small. No complaints though because that's what we paid for. For two college girls on a budget, it was perfect. Dining The food was not spectacular. The buffets served mostly the same things everyday and there were not many options. The 24 hr ice cream was great! The pizza line was pretty good. Guy's Burger joint was very good. The dining at dinner was pretty good but the serving sizes are small and there are not many options to choose from. Service BEST service. I missed my massage by an hour and they still worked me in. The dinner dining staff knew us by name and even remembered our drink orders each night. Guest service was so polite and helped us figure out a wifi problem we had. The service in general was awesome. Nothing but good things to say about these wonderful people. Ports and Shore Excursions We had great experiences with all of our excursions. We had to take two tender boats in Cozumel and Belize. This was an easy transition from land to shore. I did not travel with any children but the kids on the boat looked like they were having a blast. Mat the cruise director had constant fun and games for everybody. I would definitely go again. SO thankful for this ship and this wonderful vacation! Read Less

We had a fantastic time on our cruise! I was a bit worried after reading so many negative reviews about the ship, but please be assured that this is a wonderful ship and I would gladly cruise again on this exact same boat. The boat was very clean. Our room was clean with great water pressure and very hot water from the shower. The staff was constantly sweeping and wiping on the ship. On the Lido deck where the food is, the waiters would pick and wipe up immediately after someone left the table. Overall the food was good. There were items we liked and some we didn't like so much. If you were in the dining room and you didn't like what you ordered, the waiters will gladly bring you a different dish. The most enjoyable meal I had was on the deck from Guys Burger and Fries and tacos from the Blue Iguana. I tried the Old fashioned BBQ once, and wasn't a fan so we didn't go back there. Breakfast from the Lido deck was also very good with a selection of omelets, waffles, french toast, pancakes, hashbrowns, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, grits, fruit, cereal, selection of pastries, and so much more. On the boat you only get OJ, apple juice, lemonade, tea, and a couple other juices included. You have to pay for soda and of course any alcoholic beverages. Carnival does a lot to keep you entertained. There were a variety of activities happening all day long: bingo, comedy shows, productions, marriage games, karaoke, piano bar, bands playing in the evening, deck parties and much more. Our favorites were the shows and productions. We visited the dance club a couple of times and the comedy shows as well. We thoroughly enjoyed the activities Carnival had planned. The highlight of our cruise was the ATV excursion in Nassau. We went through some extremely rugged trails, but survived. We also got to do some shopping in the Straw Market. We did the Beach excursion which was booked through Carnival while we were in Freeport. It was a gorgeous beach. I just wish we had more than 3.5 hours there. If you're energetic and like to have a good time, I think you will enjoy Carnival Liberty. Embarkation and Debarkation both took time, so just be patient. There were 3,600 people trying to get on and off the boat, so I knew there would be a small wait. It didn't take too long though. My husband and I had a blast and will definitely book with Carnival in the future. Read Less

One of the reasons I booked a cruise from Baltimore was to "sail" down the Chesapeake Bay but since this cruise was delayed by 7 hours, it was dark when that part of the cruise finally happened. I leave on the West Coast now but am from the DC area and missing that Bay experience was really disappointing. The reason for the delay was a "medical deviation" so I cannot fault Carnival since the safety of guests must come first, even if it resulted in a reduced experience for my experience. That aside, as usual, the crew members of Carnival did an amazing job and it was a nice trip. The TV in my cabin flickered while watching the channel that shows the location of the ship and all the info, and that was a bummer. Since Carnival does not ask for feedback after a cruise, I have not reported that problem. Everything else on the Pride was fine and I loved Bermuda and having a cruise to be docked in a great location at Dockyard and being able to come and go 24 hours for three days. Rented scooter and loved being able to park it right outside the ship at night to jump on it the next day. I would do this one again but hopefully without a disappointing delay. Read Less

This cruise was chosen for two specific reasons: Date and Half Moon Cay. About us: We were a group of 14 celebrating many things and booked through a private TA. Each person in our group had a great time to the point that it is still being discussed. We had first time cruisers to experienced including having sailed Carnival's newest ship in the Med. As a result, we approach cruising with realistic expectations of having a good time in the ports by way of our floating hotel. HOTEL: Embassy Suites 17th street. Awesome location for pre-cruise activities for a group of approximately 35. Provides transportation to port and will negotiate the rate per person. Walking distance to restaurants and short ride to the beach and Las Olas. Embarktion: Majority of our group arrived by a little after 11:00 a.m. Half of us had FTTF. We also had two physically-abled in our group. Those of us with FTTF were on board AND in our rooms before noon...AWESOME! The remaining that arrived with us were on board within the hour. The final group that arrived to the port after 1:00 p.m. and without FTTF were in a line wrapped around the outside of the building. By the time the boarded we had lunch and our luggage. All of us with FTTF had our luggage before the muster drill. Muster Drill: Two of us joined our physically abled in the Black Pear restaurant. The remainder joined at their stations. It was as expected. Sail-a-way: Members of our group enjoyed the deck party. DJ was great. FUN crew was OK. We did not see them too much. Dining: Our group had early seating (6:00 p.m.) in the Golden Pearl. Food was average with favorites and some just OK. Our server was rather slow. But nothing that ruined our trip or caused us to lessen our gratuities. On the final night they performed a birthday song for me and delivered a tiny cake which we shared. It was actually better than some of the desserts. Cabins: 6 of us had cabins on the Lido...and loved the convenience. We had two scenic view rooms and one balcony. We LOVED our rooms and our cabin steward Eve. My cabin was serviced twice each day and the others selected once. However if anything was needed at any time, we had Eve's contact info and could make our request. Another one of our cabins was a disability Spa cabin. IMade was the cabin steward any he was very attentive to their needs which we truly appreciate. We were at the very front of the ship. It was an awesome view and we never had any challenges with noise of ANY type. Food: As expected for a cruise ship. There was not one meal that we could not find something decent. One of our favs were the chicken patties! We dined at Lido the first day for lunch, first port day for breakfast, and last day for breakfast. We had all dinners except one in the dining room. Was always off the ship for lunch during port days. Again, no complaints as everything was satisfactory. The last day was a SEA day and brunch did not disappoint. Everyone enjoyed it (except the mac & cheese). We had a few mac experts and they were a little critical of the cheese. We also tried the BBQ on deck 10 for lunch on the last day. VERY GOOD! Specialty Dining: Our entire group dined at the Steakhouse on the 2nd elegant night. Always an awesome experience. One hour before dinner we received a call from guest services that there was a problem with our reservation (long story). However, Emir (steakhouse manager) and staff were able to accommodate our group at the time we planned. Our most sincere thanks to him and his team as we were celebrating a 50th birthday. He checked in on us multiple times. Guest services sent a complimentary bottle of wine. And Emir sent a special dessert. Just another example of how hard the Splendor staff works to ensure their guests are having a wonderful time. PORTS: Nassau, Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, Amber Cover Nassau: No ship excursion booked. The ship was cleared a little after expected arrival. We waited for the crowd to get off then exited using a motorized scooter. Easy port to get around on your own. Half Moon Cay: FAVORITE! Booked the Oasis through Carnival a year in advance as we expected to have over 20 in our group. Ended up with 14 and it was a perfect day. The hostess was Charo from the Golden Pearl dining room along with several other staff members. What a memorable day. Our group enjoyed the Oasis and areas around it so much that no one ever ventured off to explore anything else and we were on the last tender to return as we wanted to enjoy every minute. Again, staff went out of their way to accommodate the physically abled in our group including on and off the tender and in and out of the Oasis. Truly an amazing day! Grand Turk: Nothing planned through Carnival. Some of the group rented golf carts and went to the lighthouse, governor's beach, and then chilled at the beach at Jack's Shack. Others walked or "rolled" around the port area for a little shopping. For me, this was a great spa day...(-: Amber Cove: Another great port. We planned an private excursion and enjoyed our day. Will book another Carnival cruise visiting this location to try something different including the Falls and the actual port area. Disembarktion: Had FTTF and mid-day flights. As a result, we took our time and enjoyed breakfast on the Lido. When done, we went to the meeting place for folks needing assistance and was off the ship in an instance. A ship staff member assists you off the ship, then hands you over to a local staff member for assistance through customs. The particular person we had was a little be of a crude as she would not allow my other half to accompany me and the person needing assistance through customs. She actually separated us although her co-workers insisted it was OK. However, she lamented about being told in a meeting that only one person could go through. As a result, he was the last person to join the group as we waited for him in the taxi area. Fortunately he has Global Entry and was able to by pass the line that likely would have taken an additional 30 min to an hour. We love to cruise and love to travel. We recognize that this is not a luxury liner. If we wanted that, we would pay for it and it would not include 3K other people. As a result, we board cruises with eyes wide open and expecting to have a good time. We have yet to be disappointed! Note: Public rooms can get VERY COLD!!!!! Happy Cruising! Read Less

Our room was so old bathroom is dirty although the food in the dining room was served nicely the food itself was terrible quality. Two days in port the water was turned off in the rooms pools we drained and sanding , drilling and painting went on all days in Port. The halls smelled like The toilets were backing up, I guess that was the reason to turn off water in the cabin those two days. We were told they were getting the ship ready to go to Cuba. Not at our expense. We paid for a cruise and got the short end of the stick. We got no bargain, people we spoke to paid almost half the price we did. This is the first time on carnival, and my last. The travel agent that book this cruise for us was told our ages and what we wanted, and he assured us we would have it all on the ship. Read Less

This was my second cruise I have been on, the sunshine was awesome I loved the people that worked on it they made everything fun,the food was amazing way better than my first cruise. I had the best time of my life on this cruise I swear I did not want to get off. Matter of fact my cousin and I are coming back on the sunshine in October with other family members who have not been on a cruise before so I hope and pray we have as much fun as we did when we went in may. I can not wait to get back on the sunshine. I loved the games they played with the music. The club on the boat was very very fun. The drinks were amazing the kiss on the lips is the best yet. I recommend the carnival sunshine to anyone so I hope it is the same when we get back on in October. : ) Read Less

I selected this cruise primary for the ports it was visiting. I was very pleased to find the Splendor had the best all time cruise director I've ever experienced. MarQ was everywhere! His energy and excitement of the ships events was out of this world. I was so impressed and hope to see him back on future cruises. This is my seventeenth cruise so this should known that I am no stranger to a cruise ship. Cabin 7239 was wonderful! For an interior space it offered all that I needed and more! Hats off to my exceptional room steward who made the cutest bunny towel animal on the ship. It was hard to say goodbye to my towel friend. The beds was super comfy and my hall was very quiet. Wifi reception was exceptional. My only disappointment was I never could reach guest services by phone. There was several questions I wanted to ask them that never got answered. When I went downstairs no matter what the time there was a line. The food was very good but the burrito bar was not a pleasant experience on a cruise ship. I loved the pizza pirate and grill bar, the food became my daily treat. The last day I ordered prime rib on my anytime dining event and it was nothing but fat. The waiter didn't offer to make it right. Also I had a 7:00 excursion and was disappointed to find the lido didn't open up till 6:00 am. The entertainment was true 80's that took me back to my high school days. In all I would rank this experience as one of the best Carnival ships I have sailed. Read Less
