This cruise chose us, as we received an email with a great price and $700 cabin credit, it was a great itinerary and not Australian school holidays, although we always vowed we would never go on this ship! but it was a good deal so why not, we had to book through a travel agent as this was the terms, we picked our cabin where we like to be and then waited and waited for June to come. We weren't that excited as we were worried about the ship but we were excited for the fact we were going to Singapore for four days prior and staying at Marina Bay Sands. Embarkation day arrived and we never board early usually in the final group, all good, first step onto ship and the darkness hit, decor very dark and gloomy, but I did love the lift lobbies lots of room and back from the stairs and the lifts do travel fast. Our room, perfect location as we chose it,never want an upgrade as it could be a downgrade from what we like. Head straight for the bathroom and nearly hit the walll as I slid along, not to worry must have stepped on some water somewhere, now what is that huge plastic bag on the floor near the bed with a curtain in it? turn on the lamps one doesn't work, hit the balcony, gosh be careful where you step, rusted paint scrapings everywhere, chairs look painted and wet, oh they are!!! Wet paint and paint scrapings all over them, separation wall between balconies flapping, not even secured, back into cabin slip my shoes off, oops!!! Feet splashing into water, ahhh that's why I nearly took a tumble into bathroom. By now husband quite angry contacts guests services and we have the assistant housekeeping manager in our room quickly.And this is where 19 days of dry dock apologies start and this was only our room. We found the decor on this ship strange, there is French, Egyptian,Roman and whatever else with a darkness to it. Food by no means great, the entertainers were quite good although the stage shows were not to our liking at all, final night arrives our duty free not in our cabin, maybe we have to pick it up ourselves so we head to guest services to make the enquiry only to be told it has been delivered to our room, we say we didn't see it anywhere, more checks, yes it has been delivered therefore we offer to have another look, no where to be found, phone guest services insisting it has been delivered we offer for them to look, no they discover it has not been delivered, crew are exceptional liars on this ship. Our eleventh cruise and first and last on carnival, never again, first impressions last. We were given an extra $170 cabin credit. Read Less

Don't get me wrong, most of the hardworking staff are incredible and want to make your feel as comfortable as possible however I am disappointed to say that Carnival Spirit has dropped the ball. There were flooded rooms, poor shower drainage, faulty air conditioning, banging balcony partitions, ridiculously long waiting times for shore visits and returning to the ship, the food was the poorest of quality and presentation I have ever encountered both on the sea and on land this resulted in passengers queuing for toasted sandwiches and fruit. Live entertainment was disappointing and at times made you squeamish with embarrassment. Not all of the facilities were working and after the refurbishment there is still no shade for the kids swimming area, where there is little else for them to do but swim, this is important guys! We met so many lovely people from across Australia and unfortunately will never see them on a Cruise again as a result. Carnival Spirit, this was not a result of the recent attempt at refurbishment in Singapore, this is a clear lack of desire for an enjoyable experience and poor planing and preparation on your behalf, not only have you earned a poor review you have now lost a Gold member. The cruise was Singapore to Sydney. After refurbishment shouldn't have been put back into service. Took 6 hours to board know one new what was going there was no communication. Luggage wasn't delivered until after 10.30. Carpets were wet, some cabins had no water, there was no power to some parts of the ship, the ship was losing water for a few days. launderies not working. Couldn't access on board account information. Didn't have ingredients to make some of the cocktails. Food in the dinning room an bistro very disappointing, especially having when you brought spealitity coffee an wanted a cake you had to pay for it. There was no where to get morning or afternoon tea. Staff were very very good nothing was to much trouble for them. Wouldn't recommend the ship to anyone Read Less

4 hour delay for boarding, left waiting in hot terminal, no water and over 2000 people. No communication. Tender process was terrible, people missed their tours due to lack of organisation and communication from staff. No water in pools, spas or waterslides for 2 days. Ship was filthy from day 1 to last day. Constant upgrades being worked on during whole cruise. Sushi bar opened in last few days, jims bbg didnt open at all, some deck areas closed until disembarking day. Food in empire was good, food in la playa was very mediocre at best and unsafe (in our opinion) at worse. Food kept during service, barely warm. If you font like chinese or indian or greasy food then you are out of luck. Deck chairs on serenity deck are mouldy and very dirty, tours cancelled but not notified until late night before when all suitable tours booked out. They ran out of arts and craft supplies after 4th day. Shows are very very poor quality compared to p&o cruise 4 years ago. Hypnotist who couldnt hypntise anyone, magician whose biggest trick was to remove someones watch and link 3 rings, On one of thevtenders at yorkeys knob when the seas were getting rough, the driver thought it would be fun to try to race another tender boat to the ship, children were screaming and crying, an older man fell off the seat and i banged my head hard against the side, some were vomitting. My good dressed was ruined when i hung it in the shower to steam creases out and rusty water dripped from rust spots on ceiling of shower, We had to do maintenance on bathroom door ourselves as the door was too heavy to open, after adjusting struts it was ok, we tried contacting customer services but after 5 attempts we gave up. Very little variety of activities to do on board, plenty of trivia but jot much else. We contacted carnival whose response was basically we will pass on your comments. We will never cruise with carnival again. Read Less

To stand and wait over 4 hours in the heat without water, food or seating to get on board was not a good start, Carnival then refunded 25% of fare, okay fair enough. Then to get a cabin where the kids running through the ship all night and jumping on the deck above our cabin so that we couldn't sleep, kids yelling in your door in the middle of the night! Balcony dividers not anchored, no sign of cabin steward for 2.5 days, couldn't turn air cond up and nearly froze for first 2 nights! Couldn't get a biscuit at 11.00 a.m. - buffet closed - had to go and buy a biscuit - never been on a cruise where you couldn't get any food you want for 24 hours - tried one afternoon at about 4.00 p.m. for fruit - again - buffet closed! Finally when we asked to get off the ship halfway as we hadn't got any sleep, they found us another cabin! Amazing! The ship was filthy and our cabin not better - came out of dry dock and workmen had been using the cabins, which hadn't been cleaned. Shuttles in port - you had to pay for, food at buffet in evening very limited. Not enough self serve laundries and in fact one was out of order. Would never go Carnival again - we have cruised with Princess many many times and will never stray again! The children on the ship should be supervised, they should not be allowed in dining areas without shoes, hats on, and running! Caveat emptor - let the buyer beware! Read Less
