Pleasantly Surprised

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Carnival Sensation

My husband & I had low expectations after reading the negative reviews. We have been on 20 prior cruises between multiple cruise lines. We decided a few weeks out to go on a short winter getaway and this cruise fit perfectly in our time frame. We were both pleasantly surprised with the ship and our cruise experience. The ship had been refurbished in lot of areas a couple of months prior which ...

We had a group of 31 and the intent was for a party atmosphere and fun at sea, this was achieved. You will find this is a very very casual ship. If your your looking for opulence and serenity you may want to consider another ship or cruise line. I’m not a big complainer especially at this price point however these are a few experiences that I found disappointing. The main dining room food was poor ...

Good Experience on the Sensation

We chose this cruise based on price and sail dates. It was Thursday-Monday which made getting off work much easier. I was concerned about the boat after some of the reviews but soon realized it was much better. I think many of those poor reviews come from unrealistic expectations. This cruise was cheap and most people I spoke to booked it for value and in the end, it was a great value. This ...

Old ship. Bad management. Shortage in staff!

I like going on a new year's cruise and I had experienced carnival cruises at least 6 times; this cruise was renovated in early 2017 according to their website. It's not acceptable to me how there were people smoking marijuana in the smoking area and cruise members let it happen. Tables were dirty for a long period of time and no one visible to ask to clear table: so other than my dinner table ...

First of all , let me start by saying that I have taken multiple new years cruise with carnival and other cruise line. My first impression was a worn down destroyed ship that needed a lot of work, but never thought that I would experience a horrible sewage smell throughout the floor where my cabin was at all times!! (7th floor). My cabin was kept clean by my stateroom steward , WIRAT, VERY ...

My daughter and her boyfriend booked this cruise on Carnival Sensation leaving Miami going to Key West and Cozumel for 4 nights and invited us to come along. We have cruised with Royal Caribbean 5 other times prior to this. This ship is in disrepair. We found rust and many things looking worn and broken. We were greeted at our expensive beautiful balcony stateroom by the overpowering smell of pot ...

It looks like Deon who is the star of the entire trip: is probably the hardest worker. Yes- everyone looks like they work hard but the teamwork is needed. Deon excellent with Motown event. The piano singer with beard as Elton John not good which is a shame because the other dancers/ singers are very good and devoted and better than him. I’m sure there’s a superstar within the team to replace ...

I am embarrassed to admit that this is my 8th cruise, but my 1st review. I finally decided to write a review for 2 reasons. because I have had the benefit of reading other reviews to help me make a decision and also, because I had trouble finding recent reviews of the Sensation. We did faster to the fun for the first time. Wasn't sure if it was really necessary on a smaller ship but it was ...

Old ship that needs to redone

I was on the Sensation many many years ago. There was a sale I couldn't pass up. Cost for both my husband and I 377.00 with a 100.00 OBC for an inside room. I did get a call the night before because I am platinum that they had an ocean view no charge for us so I took it. I forgot about the fantasy ship purple and brass. Carnival really needs to do something when they do refurbishments they need ...

My mom and I booked this cruise solely to go to Cuba, as it is one of the few ports in the Caribbean we have yet to travel to. When the travel ban was enacted on Cuba two months prior to our cruise, we were beyond disappointed. Carnival compensated us with $100 onboard credit per person (plus I believe $27 back in port expenses), or the ability to cancel our cruise with a full refund. In ...
