This was our first Carnival experience. I did the research on this boat far ahead of time and knew exactly what I was getting myself and my family into. Having done several DCL and RCL cruises prior we had low expectations, but even this cruise was lower than I expected. Our embarkation experience was awesome as we did the Faster to the fun upgrade. We were checked in and on board Quickly. We were also allowed entry to our room right away w/this upgrade and that was smooth as well. However, the faster luggage to your room never panned out. We got our luggage after the general boarders. Called guest services (very rude) and finally was able to receive a credit for this lacking feature. We explored the ship which is truly 70’s decor in dark purple everywhere. Ship is fairly small and certainly dated but still seemed for the most part well cared for and kept consistently clean by staff. Met cruise director from (this man is an asset to Carnival because he literally made this trip for us. Every activity he headed was fun, energetic and funny! Love him! Our housekeeper Romeo...worked just bum off! Loved him too. Our wait staff (parichart, mark gregor and Juno) were equally efficient and fun. Sadly though, the food in the main dining room was actually often inedible. Many times food arrived looking like dog food slip and tasting like it too. I almost never hit the buffet on cruises but I went away from every meal hungry and headed to blue iguana, guys burgers or the buffet or pizza/deli station. The buffet wasn’t as awful as I expected. We were always able to find a seat in there. Loved the yogurt or ice cream options but often the ice cream would come out pure liquid so that was no food. Pizza was pretty good and deli station too. Guys burgers snd blue iguana also good. The water served at meals tastes so strange like well water. We’d bring our own bottled water nightly to dinner. The chocolate lava cake is over rated...I expected much better. I also couldn’t believe that they never once served French onion soup which is offered as an appetizer on other lines nightly. They had lots of trivia, but we didn’t partake as it takes place midship 9 right next to the casino and the smoke wafts right yo you in a very overwhelming way. Comedy was good (Ajai Saunders snd geechy guy), but I did notice lots of jokes were repeated in their shows. My biggest issue aside from the MDR food is the fact that from set sail to debarkation this ship swayed like crazy. In 11 cruises I’ve never been tossed around like that ever. We even were denied our private island stop at half moon cay because of it. Read Less

This cruise has been a horrible experience from day one. EVERY bit of this cruise, with the exception of the cleaning and wait staff, has been awful. I am severely lactose intolerant, and NEVER before have I had the flat refusal to make me something I could eat like I have on this cruise. I have starved for five days. I reiterate, I have paid an obscene amount of money to starve for five days. There hasn't been one ounce of sympathy nor had there been any effort at all to resolve this issue. Not even a "sorry". Just a, "no, you cant eat this". They have a minimal amount of dairy free options and the ones they do have are awful. How hard is it to cook a hamburger that isnt like eating sand or cook a steak that isnt horribly bland and tougher than my belt? Also, the lemonade, water, tea, and ice tasted horribly of chlorine. Now let's get to the wedding. The so called wedding director missed ALL of their scheduled meetings and had no clue what was going on. To make matters worse, once we got to the island the folks their yelled at us and chewed our backsides because SHE either didn't relay the information we were supposed to have or told us wrong. Now let's move on to the reception where the paid open bar was not a true open bar. To make matters worse, they served the children, I repeat CHILDREN, alcoholic punch, rum punch to be exact. This has been a horrendous experience from day one and I would not recommend the Carnival Sensation, let alone the Carnival Cruise Line, for any cruise. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we wanted to visit different islands for Christmas and we had not been to Turks & Caicos or to Half Moon Cay. This was the only option. I have done more than ten cruises in my life, but it was my first Carnival. NEVER AGAIN. The ship is old, the decoration is very tacky, the whole ship smells of mold, sweat and grease. The curtains had poke holes throughout the ship. The swimming pool's water was brown. The buffet food looked like something you would eat in prison. At the formal dining restaurants, the food was better, but nothing compared to a Royal Caribbean or a Norwegian. However, if you paid extra to get the Specialty Menu, the food was delicious. The cabin carpet had stains. Entertainment was terrible, the only thing fun was the Cruise Director, he made the impossible to keep people entertained, but he was on his own at this mission. The cruise did not stop at Half Moon Cay and they only let us know about it an hour before the scheduled time, blaming the weather conditions (I had faced much worse weather and was always able to leave the ship). It was a terrible experience and I am never choosing Carnival again. Read Less

To celebrate anniversary and to sail with carnival which, I had not done in a year and a half. The room was nor properly cleaned there was hair in the toilet when we got to the cabin , the lido deck was not as clean as it should be and there were flies. The food was marginal could be better other cruise lined have a better dinner option than carnival's. This was my 10th cruise with carnival and i think the service have dropped over the last few years. The new cruise director Dion is doing a great job and perhaps the cruise director from the conquest should take a page from his book (came off the conquest on the 7th December). Comedy was ok The ship is very old and it shows as there were many areas around the exterior of the ship you can see rust although the interior is not too bad. Read Less

We are a 40'ish couple from Texas traveling without our kids. We chose the cruise to get to visit Cuba and had it booked before the latest change in June that Americans cannot travel to Cuba, so cruise ships would not longer be able to stop there. Carnival offered a free cancel or a generous OBC due to the change. The airline offered no generous change option. We are not Carnival's target audience; we are not fun enough and don't stay up late partying. We stayed on the cruise, and it was a great get away. Embarkation: Embarkation was super quick. We had the 11:30-12:00 check-in time slot. We arrived and the boarding passes that I had printed did not have or printed without the barcodes, so they sent us to a lady standing nearby who quickly printed us each a boarding pass from a mobile device. It was then 11:27am, so they put us in the early/late line. There was no line, so we showed our passports, husband got his picture taken since his passport is older when he looked younger, went through security quickly, the allowed 12 can soda went through the x-ray machine with no extra table with people ripping them open. Then, we walked right on with no wait, just some twists and turns which seemed like a good amount of walking :). They also take your picture right before entering the gangway for face recognition that was used again at disembarkation. Muster was faster than our other Carnival cruise, which was good, but always seems silly to have those who slower leave first. Ship: It is an older ship and gets some bad reviews. My husband was trying to orient himself and noted the midship staircase was purple; I replied that I thought that they were all purple. I was not a big fan of the purple staircases/elevator areas and the colorful ship direction signs were bold. The buffet is small. I liked the layout of the theater; there is a row of two person tables and then space to walk so no climbing over people. That was on the lower level; the upper level looked hard to see from any seat, though we did not try to sit up there during a show. We also missed the promenade deck for after dinner walking, took a few windy night walks on the top jogging trail. But overall, the ship is fine and in good condition. Entertainment: We enjoyed Lowell Sanders stand up show; we attended the PG show. We had seen and enjoyed his act on a previous cruise. I was not a big fan of the previous comedian’s show. He did not have much material and was just interacting with the audience/possibly picking on some in the audience. We also went to the Clue game and did some trivia. Both were fun. With just one sea day, that is all we made it too. We did the water slides after already Grand Turk since we were already wet. We played putt-putt one day. It is challenging in the wind and with ship movement with the foam balls. I read to bring a real golf ball to avoid the issue but decided not to bring extra stuff. I will when the kids go with us over spring break, so they can play. The Alchemy drinks were good. I attached a picture of the full cruise entertain summary. Lastly, food: The food that was very good: teriyaki salmon, cakes (Carnival excelled at cakes and desserts in general -- Baked Alaska, cakes with good gauche icing, and creme brulee), and from the local menu: pepper steak. There was other good items from the local menu, but I have forgotten. The jumbo shrimp on formal night were not so jumbo. The buffet was missing India food, which my husband loves on cruises. The deli does not have the dark chocolate chip cookies on the sign menu. The pizza place menu has a hand tossed Caesar salad advertised, but I found in the evening that they just sent me to the salad bar. I had one deli sandwich that was pretty good. We did not try the pizza and missed the hot dog at the pizza place. I did not think the breakfast burrito was as good as our last cruise. I thought they had regular pork sausage before. The choices now are chicken sausage (not very good) and ham (not good quality – well formed and pressed). I had 2 guys burgers – very good. The first day they were trying to go really fast to get the line served, but it was leading to having trying to talk fast enough – no mayo, no that sauce, and many tossed out top buns. The MDR was slower the first 2 nights. Then they sped up, so much so, that the last 2 nights I felt we were being rushed. However, the last night we did make the 7:15 pm comedian show. With the exception of Sea Brunch, all of our waiters were excellent. Sea Brunch Caesar salad and filet were excellent. The waiters performed/danced in the MDR every night. I had a paid filet the last night; it was very good. We went to the MDR every night and had your time dining. Breakfast in the buffet was not as crazy as we feared (it is a very small buffet). We grabbed some items from by the pool because it was less crazy. One day, up earlier for Nassau excursion, there was no one in the omelet line, so I got one of those. They also have a bagel/toast line (with no line), toaster, and cream cheese outside. The water on the ship was gross (normally I like ship water), but overly chlorinated this time. Luckily, our included past cruiser bottles of water were huge. We would also use our overnight melted stateroom ice and ate the good Sonic-type ice from the buffet. Disembarkation: Disembarkation had more of a line, but not bad. We did the Carnival face recognition and then walked through customs. Read Less

This cruise to the Dominican and Grand Turk was a retirement gift from my co-workers. It was our first cruise and it was great. I will remember it always. Deon, who was our cruise director and a lot of the entertainment on the ship, made this cruise the best time ever. He and all of the staff on the ship including Ivanna from Ukraine who was in the spa, Christina from Romania in guest services, Luisito from the Philippines our favorite waiter, Ramona our cabin steward and Rawanda from South Africa in the jewelry store treated us all like family. They were truly amazing people who got to know us and always welcomed conversation with us. They love their jobs and it shows in how they take care of everyone on the ship. Because of them we will return to Carnival for future cruises. As Deon said....we all came together as one big family on the ship, joined hands and shared our lives together as one big family for 5 days. Deon entertained us in the Fantasia lounge with Hasbro Games. He danced and sang for trivia and different events around the ship especially on the Lido deck. He was fantastic and got everyone involved. He was also very informative each day with what was going on and when so you could plan everything and not miss any major events. The food on the cruise was excellent especially the Guy’s burger joint and the pizza/deli. The buffets were also very good but the desserts were less than desirable. Thank goodness for the swirl cones they were always good. The bars were all phenomenal and loved kareoke! The excursions were okay at the Dominican and Grand Turk. We were not impressed with the tour of Grand Turk. They called a side street with shells and a few benches a nature preserve. The tour guide said “okay ladies and gents” a thousand times as he showed us just old dilapidated houses. The Dominican tour was better. We did not like the shopping experience at each port because we wanted to purchase more cultural items made by the locals and that was not an option. You could only buy junk from China in higher end shops that was the same in every store or high end jewelry that no one could afford. The beach areas were very small unless you bought excursions. The water and beaches were clean and beautiful. All in all being on the ship was the best part of our trip. Next time we will plan the more adventurous excursions. Read Less

We chose this cruise because Carnival gave us casino rates and Drinks on us it also fell on the dates for our anniversary .We have been on 7 cruises now and this was by far the worst but its still a cruise right. This ship has no stabilizers which I didn't think would be an issue we sailed on her before, but this time we had rough seas The bags were out all over the ship our 26 Yo had never sailed before was seasick the first 2 days poor guy.Anyway it was our 25 anniversary no recognition from Carnival at all(yes they were told in advance thru our PVP). I had to tell the Dinner staff myself so they would come sing for my wife our room steward was mia most of the cruise our cabin lights had a mind of there own turning on and off when they wanted we were in cabin U66 which is really 666 so we joked our room was haunted. At times there was a smell in the room we learned there was some sort of issue on the deck later. Now the staff on this ship was awesome our sons room steward Gede was great our dinner staff(Hakan,Budiana and yevhen) went well over to please everyone at the table. We enjoyed both the ports Amber cove We rented the poolside Cabana well worth the cost comfortable and cozy.Grand Turk we rented a Golf cart from Boogie then had lunch at Margaritaville (don't recommend its way overpriced)spent the rest of the day at the beach. I heard Deon was awesome we didn't see him much I'm guessing he was at things we weren't but James was great. Comedy shows were great we didn't do any of the shows been on carnival seen them many times they really need to update.Anyway the ship is old and really needs something or to be taken out. Read Less

5 day Sensation Miami Nassau Half Moon Cay and Grand Turks. Embarkation fastest ever about 10 minutes.   Ship was at Port D if you take Uber.   Not allowed in state rooms until 130 pm so if u come early just know that.  Lunch is open of course.  Luggage took about an hour. Cabin steward came by and asked if we wanted morning or evening cabin service and his sheet also said both so we said both and he did.  Also asked for ice and he supplied a bucket of ice all cruise.  We tipped extra at the end. We had a back balcony which was good.  Most beds in most cabins run parallel to the ship, meaning as the bow goes up and down your foot end of the bed goes up and down slightly if that make sense.  However for the few cabins at the aft the beds run perpendicular to the ship meaning the bed goes up and down left to right instead of foot to head.  It was just weird to be rocked that way all night. Nassau is the only port on this cruise you need both your key card and I.d.  a driver's license is all you need for this cruise. No passport.  The other parts needed just your sign and sail card.   We walked 3 blocks south and 3 blocks east from the port and took a city bus on an unnarrated island tour for a buck and a quarter.  You pay at the end.  Bus 19 is a good one to see behind the scenes of you have done this island alot.   Private island... No tips...it was very hot.  Bring lots of sunscreen.  Excellent cell phone service.  Grand Turks.  It was so hot the locals were swearing badly.  There is limited free beach  chairs and cabanas and such right off the boat on the left of their pier so you want to be the first off.  The green umbrellas are free and the blue chairs behind them are free. First come first served.  The others are $25 for 2 chairs and an umbrella.   The 2nd night is formal night and an upgraded menu.  Be sure to try the rare finds like frog legs if that is your thing.  Most of the dinning room tables were for 8 to 12 people. Long gone are the days of tables for 2 and 4.  Every night they would stop service and the staff dance.  It use to be 1 night on cruised we took in the past.  Now everynight.  The background music is the same track each night.  We are dessert to Kenny g, entrees to a remake of Richard Marx, each night. It became a joke at our table.  Oh, this song is on, must be time for the bread..etc. By far the best part of the cruise was Deon the cruise director.   On 3 nights he had an event in the atrium about 845 pm. This is a must do.  It might be listed as name that song or something but just go. He had hundreds of people leaning over the edges of all the levels in the palm of his hand. IMHO one of the best vocalists at sea that we've seen is with the band Sixth Element.  They played most nights midship level 9.   Mostly standards from the 80s and 90s.  Some before.  They nailed so many songs so close that my phone app was showing the titles and original artist.  They have a new big fan   the crowds got bigger each night as passengers learned of them. The ship is old and worn out.  They have worked hard with upkeep but the price was right to overlook stuff.  The cabins have a hair drier and in the shower there are soap and shampoo dispensers.  One power outlet in cabin and 1 in bathroom.  We brought a very small splitter to charge 3 devices. Internet and cell phone...nassau if you have TMobile its local.  Others international plans work.  Half moon cay cell tower right by where dock is.  Turks the same.  On the sea day about 4 pm and off and on all night you are nearby towers on the islands you pass to get phone and internet.  In other words just make sure you are not on cellular at sea which is the ships towers, and you can stay connected without buying the ships internet package.  Overall a Nice cheap getaway. I’ve travelled on this cruise ship 3 years ago and I remember the food being so amazing and I was super excited to have that again. Unfortunate, that was not the case. Guys burgers and all those workers there 100% saved the day. We had an awesome waiter every night Herbert so amazing at what he does and so very sweet, Milovan made sure to put a smile on our faces throughout dinner and the show they put on, Juno and Budi very prompt and polite which made us feel more than welcome. Overall service was always superb and I am convinced that made the trip so memorable. Because the food wasn’t as great as expect we often ate at the sushi spot with Eduardo (I cannot remember the other gentleman’s name) and I can guarantee the $70 I spend on sushi in a week was well worth it. He described what was what and made the experience delightful and makes bomb sushi. Up on the deck, Iwan will always greet you by name, which is insane because there were well over 2000 people on that ship, made us feel so special. Our room was so cold, just the way I like and was always spotless. Jeerawut did an amazing job and was so patient when we would stay in during the cleaning times we set. Him and his crew are such hard workers even though we left a huge mess of confetti every night. (they deserve a raise!!) Overall, the cruise was pretty smooth sailing and our cruise director Andy made the experience worth while (even though the food wasn’t as great and we couldn’t enter the twerk contest) Read Less

The breakfast buffet was poor. Half Moon Cay, was a joke! I could of stayed on the ship and had a better day. There is literally nothing on the island. Hopefully carnival does some updates in the future. They were doing maintenance on the ship the whole time of the cruise which was VERY LOUD and unpleasant. The ship gave us an onboard credit for the spa but didn't do us any good being that we dont go to the spa. I would never cruise on sensation again! Most likely will never cruise with carnival again Read Less

I’ve been on a few carnival ships but Sensation would have to be the most boring that I’ve experience. This ship lacked entertainment!!! Although the cruise director Dion was very entertaining and super funny and friendly, the ship did not have much of anything going on while we were at sea... they not only need more shows but more variety. There was one nightclub(hip hop every night) which was only entertaining for the younger crowd that jumped in circles around each other the entire night. The pool (only seen 1) was occupied by kids the entire trip. The 2 shows I did attend (I don’t speak Spanish) were only 30 min long. Although The Dining area served the same menu as the buffet area every night we dressed up and ate there every night because they promised to sing happy birthday to my friends as we were on the cruise as a birthday trip. IT NEVER HAPPENED! We advised the host several times of this and she kept promising it would happen the next night, then the next night. Overall, I think this ship/cruise is best if you are looking for kid cruise! Read Less

Highly recommend priority boarding option. There was a very long line regardless if you had an appt. Loved George's food outside of the gate in Bahamas. Carnival should really allow/bring the Bahamas experience inside the gate giving people a cultural experience...we would have never know they were there if we didn't hear the live music outside the gate. Its wonderful, that's why people cruise to different islands Carnival....experiences!!! Carnival ran out of towels for people on the beach at Princess Cay..disappointing, when there is no other way but a water taxi back to the boat. Staff offered no apologies or alternatives. Shower curtain in room smelled like mildew, bring your bleach or lysol. Kind of weird. The spa was very expensive but offered no pre or post spa experience. Customer Service was terrible! We were not welcomed when we arrived, we went into what was supposed to be a relaxation room, but the chairs were regular chairs not comfortable at all. Not given any info about amentities. Save your money you'd have a better experience at a mall massage!!! Cruise Director Deon was very good and had great personality. The comedy show was great. Love and marriage show was entertaining. First, we are avid cruisers with over 25 cruises. Although we take a few different cruise lines Carnival has been the one we have been on the most. We chose this cruise for my wife’s 60 Birthday because it was only 5 days and we had just came back from the Carnival Breeze 7 day cruise 2 weeks prior. Let me say that we knew it would be a small ship and was one of their first, and we tried our best not to compare till the end. First thing is you should know there is not a great selection of food to eat which was disappointing. There is only 1 buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner and it usually had the same thing everyday. If it wasn’t for Guys Burgers or the Pizza pirate it would of been salad everyday. The deli although wonderful on other Carnival ships was extremely disappointing on the Sensation. We both ordered a Reuben and it was all and I mean all fat and forgot the saurkraut. We did try a little something from the buffet everyday but one bite you just move the plate to the side you do not want to eat it. To the pizza pirate we go, which is very good. Also, the buffet closes at 2:30 everyday and they don’t care if your in line or not, they just start taking the food away. I went to the sweet bar to get a cookie and as I was reaching the tray went right out from me and the guy said, we’re closed. Not the friendliest crew around. The sweet bar we did try a little of everything, some good some not so good. We went to the restaurant a couple of nights hoping it would be better, well...whatever you do, do not order fish. It is so well done and over cooked you can’t eat it. The best thing we ate was the prime rib and shrimp pasta. Their signature dish for dessert is the Melting cake, which I have every time I go on a cruise. It was well done every time I got one. If you don’t know what it is you would probably love it. The cake should be in the middle filled with chocolate that is just like a liquid. It is usually a chocolate lovers dream. On the last night I figured I try one more time and again well done. I asked our waiter if they changed the receipe and he looked and said, oh my well done, let me get you another, he brought out 3 and finally there it was, The carnival chocolate melting cake the way it should be. The last night was southern fried chicken. You could not chew it, we saw table after table sending it back. Sea day brunch wasn’t bad, but beware of the eggs benidict. It was hard boiled eggs, not once but every time I ordered them. With that being said, even though you have much fewer selections to eat they should at least have the same standards of food they have on other Carnival ships. If they did I wouldn’t even be writing this. As far as our room, we have had all different types of rooms from suites to interior rooms. As long as the room is comfortable no biggie, we only sleep in it. We had a porthole room which to our surprise was extremely roomy. The only complaint is there is no refrigerator so if you bring your own soda or order water there is no way to keep it cold. They will bring you a refrigerator only if you have medication to keep cold and you have to ask. There is a safe in the room but you have to use your drivers license or a credit card to use it. No charge but who wants to carry around 2 important items all the time. Also, if you need a make up mirror bring one, these rooms do not have one like the other ships although they do have a hair dryer. We always bring our own toiletries because they stopped putting them in the room. I mean they give you little packages of soap and there is shampoo and body wash. They will also only do your room once, your choice morning or night. No more morning and night. Also, bring something to stay warm in your room, like a parka lol, You can only control the fan speed, there is no thermostat so you pretty much freeze all the time. The entertainment was ok, comedians so so, nothing great just ok. Although Dion (Cruise Director)is a hoot he can only do so much. The Quest is a lot of laughs so I recommend getting there early and don’t miss it. Although it says scavenger hunt you do not leave the plaza and believe me you have never seen anything like it. Most were first time cruisers so if you don’t know what it is you won’t stay. Everyone we saw that were first timers we told them not to miss it. But if your easily offended it’s not for you and it’s for adults only. Absolutely no children and if you go you will understand why. Now let’s talk about the shops, they have beautiful jewelry but they are extremely pushy and don’t let go. If you go in for one thing they try to talk you into spending thousands more. One guy was chasing me out the door trying to get me to purchase something I just wanted to look at.. so if you ask to look at something that you like and are considering buying they will try to push you into buying something else. Look on the islands first before buying on the ship, although they can be just as pushy on the island they can take no for an answer. Now onto the spa. Enjoyable yes, but wait for their specials or go to the ladies pamper party. That’s were they give you the best deals. Instead of spending 200 on a message at the pamper party it’s 100 dollars. But again also beware, they try to sell you Elemis products for everything. I made the mistake many years ago and bought what they suggested for the tune of 300. Well, you can get they same products on Amazon so beware. Just take the card they write everything down on and if you like it get it elsewhere. Now the cruise itself was all in all nice and relaxing and we met a great couple to do everything with. The last day of the cruise did not have a lot of activities to do. It was mostly Jewelry blowout sales. We did have a good time and if the food was up to Carnival standards it would of been a great getaway. Read Less

Carnival sensation was a wonderful ship. Although one of the oldest. I had read some bad reviews but I have to see for myself. I appreciate the reviews because it helped me decide. This ship was recently redecorated from what I read. It was beautiful! Our cruise director deon was so fun and hella funny! He made the cruise worth it. He is full of energy! Can sing and dance. Kept us up on the happenings. My only complaint is the food. Guys burgers was the best eatery. But if you don't eat pork then this ship is not for you. Room service wings were great for $5. Plenty of places to eat for free. And the wait staff in main dining gives great performances every night. Singing and dancing on the tables sometimes. Comedy was funny as hell in the comedy room. Kareoke was awesome. Great giveaways during the jewelry shows and just all around fun. Food needs an upgrade. Too much pork on board. No turkey sausages or bacon. Chicken sausages is nasty as hell! For your 1st time like me, I had a wonderful time for the low price. Looking forward to my next cruise but on a ship that serves turkey and chicken. With less pork! My cabin was great. Larger than a standard size hotel room. Plenty of storage. The steward john was friendly and very helpful. I tipped everybody at least $2 because the grituity we pay up front is sack. They deserve more than what they get from that. Read Less

So let me start off by saying if this is your first cruise it will probably exceed your expectations because you have nothing to compare it to. However this is my third cruise and the third cruise line I’ve taken . In the past I’ve taken royal Caribbean and Norwegian. Carnival cruise line came in last place. I’m going o review the cabin, staff, food, and activities. The cabin: (3/5) The cabin space is a decent size. It does not have a couch or refrigerator. It does have a lot of closet space, a safe, and a normal size bathroom with shampoo and body wash. The things I didn’t like the bed which is 2 twin beds pushed together to create a king bed kept sliding apart from each other. There is nothing to hold the beds together. I also did not like the tv program was recorded shows and movies that kept playing over and over again the whole cruise. For those moments I wanted alone time in the room It was grueling watching tv. Staff: (2/5) The majority of the staff were awful. They had bad attitudes and acted like they did not want to be on board. I actually had a incident where a manicurist was talking trash about her client in front of me to her coworker. The manicurist called her client classless. I had another incident where I was asking a staff a question about the shi. he was so rude he interrupted me mid sentence, he was in such a panic so I told him to relax and asked him to let me finish. All he was doing was cleaning tables at the lido buffet room along with the 5 other staff , so I’m not sure why he was so rude. If you ask any of the other staff a question they either don’t know the answer, give you the wrong answer, or give you the right answer with an attitude. The staff was very lackluster. The only staff that I had a good experience with was our housekeeping, room attendant Rita and Deon the cruise activities director. Rita was very kind and helpful and Deon was fun, energetic and kind. The housekeeping made sure to smile and say good morning. Food: (2/5) The only food that was good was guys burgers. The lido buffet and fantasy/ecstasy dining room food has no flavor or seasoning. Activities: The activities onboard were average. The comedy was entertaining, comedian was funny. The music and show trivia was the best especially the ones the Deon hosted. Embarkation: This was a smooth, easy, and fast process. No problems here getting on or off the ship. Excursion: we did Damajagua waterfalls adventure through carnival. This was one of the most exhilarating and adventurous excursion we have done so far. Me and my partner jumped and slid down waterfalls into a river. First WARNING: there is a 40-45 minute hike uphill. This hike was so VERY difficult for someone like me who is not in shape however it is so worth it and it was a great way to work out. The first jump has 2 options to jump or take the ladder down into the river . 2nd WARNING ⚠️ The water is very cold. One lady went into shock when She went into the water she panicked because of the water temp and the floorless bottom of the water. We had life jackets so no one would drown. It is required to have water shoes they have rentals for $8 which were probably professional water shoes. I wish we would’ve rented versus buying them at Walmart. The tour guides are extremely helpful and they pretty much carried the terrified women down each waterfall. The tour included 7 slides and there was a guy who took pics and videotaped the adventure. At the end they sold the pics and video for $50. Read Less

Husband and i took this trip as our first getaway kid free. We booked this particular one as they were places we hadn't been and at a great price... plus was just the right amount of time away. I was a little nervous after reading some reviews, but we had a great experience! The staff were friendly, room was always clean(outside room with picture window), the ship was clean, food and drinks were good, and the cruise director Deon was amazing! It is a smaller ship and older, so there is less.. but we always found things to do between shows and other things going on around the boat. Deon was awesome about letting everyone know what was happening and keeping everyone entertained. Our ports were Ochos Rios and Grand Cayman. Getting off the ship was a bit of a hassle at both ports, but have had the same experience on other ships. we would absolutely go again. Read Less

We chose this cruise for a girls trip (me, mom and sister) because of the itinerary. It stopped at Nassau, Half Moon Cay (private island) and Grand Turk. We loved everything about the cruise. Boarding was as smooth as could be I swear it only took 15 min and we were onboard. The staff was all so friendly and helpful. A few stood out tremendously. Milton and William were amazing bar tenders at the Blue Iguana bar! Our room stewardess Okra was always available and kept everything so clean. Our cruise director Kevin was so funny. He really kept the crowd entertained! Also all the live music, comedy shows and nightclub was so much fun! Our favorite musician on board was Sam Fisher. He’s a must see! Uriel assisted us at the medical center and was very helpful. The food was great and are cabin was bigger than expected. We had a large ocean view window room. The day at sea was also very enjoyable with lots of entertainment! I would highly recommend this cruise ship! Also I recommend getting the Cheers package of you drink it was worth the money! We had a great cruise. Some things we normally receive have been discontinued, chocolates on pillow, smaller portions in MDR. We had a great time. Kevin the Cruise Director was great, Adrian our favorite bartender never let us down. Juno was an excellent waiter in the MDR. This was our second cruise on Sensation, and the ship is older but still had a blast. Staff was friendly. Husband and I are both Veterans and went to the Veterans Service on Veterans Day and it was great. So many amazing veterans on the ship. Bang Bang BK was great as Bingo caller and as part of the entertainment staff. Will definitely continue to cruise with Carvnival Curise Line. We like to cruise on the smaller ships so we will just have to deal with the older ships with less of the modern services. All in all Carnival still gets our vaction dollars. Read Less

Just got back from this cruise. I am a platinum member. Worst ship in the fleet. Rooms was terrible. My friends had a hole in the floor in their bathroom. Walking around the ship there was a smell of raw sewage. The ship was dirty and rusty all over. Not like other cruise lines. Seems like Carnival doesn’t care about quality. They just want to offer a cheap cruise to the masses. Took the beach house excursion in Amber Cove. Staff never told us there was a resort area right in the port. Carnival did credit us for half the excursion. If you want to go on Carnival I recommend the Glory,Breeze,Dream,Vista or Horizon. Entertainment needs to be upgraded. They gave the same shoes all the time with entertainers that Simon would make fun of. Watching the shows is like pulling teeth. So stay away from Sensation and spend s little more. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it fit with our fall break. I read a lot of reviews of the Sensation that were negative, so I was concerned. But, no need for it! We had a wonderful time! Getting on and off was smooth and organized. The food was good in the dining room and at Guy's Burger and our favorite was the Blue Iguana. The service was great. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It's an older ship, but the systems work. The pool was clean and refreshing. Our favorite day was the stop at Half Moon Cay. Such a beautiful beach with plenty of chairs and a good lunch buffet. We had a balcony room. I loved that I could get coffee delivered to my room and sit on the balcony and sip it while looking out at the sea, or pulling in to port. I would do this one again. Read Less

We had our adult children pick this cruise and went with them. Price was a big factor. I would not do a 5 day cruise again after being on 7 n 8 day cruises. Seemed very rushed all week. No lobster offeredto on regular menu unless you paid extra. Service was really good. Love Carnival but not the Sensation. It needs some major renovations. It was also hard to get around...confusing floor plan. This was our 13th cruise so we had a lot to compare it to. Love our ports of call! Nassau, Half moon cay and Grand Turk. The entertainment was ok. Really wished they did more around the pool such as the 1 dance party. Did not really feel the Cruise director Kevin interacted with the guest that much. Only time we saw him was during actual events for a short time. Really like how easy embarkation and disinformation was. Great improvement over other cruises we have done. Read Less

We have been on different cruise lines and different Carnival ships and to my shock, this was the best cruise I've ever been on. This was a cruise for just myself and my son to celebrate his college graduation. This was a hurricane season trip so for one, we took a gamble because this was a great value. Secondly, a few days before sailing we were offered an upsell from our deck 5 mid ship ocean view to an Empress Deck balcony. The price wasn't bad and I took it. So glad we did. We typically always book balconies but since my wife wasn't going I originally booked an OV because I figured we would save the money since it was just guys, We flew to Ft. Lauderdale the morning of the trip from Cleveland. Everything from a travel standpoint went smoothly. We prepaid for Carnival transportation to Miami and that went smoothly as well. I appreciated being able to check in at the airport alleviating the need to stand in line at the port. When we arrived at the port, we walked right on the ship. We had to wait until 1:30 to access our room which wasn't an issue. A burrito from the Blue Iguana and burger from Guy's and we were ready to get to our room. This is one of the oldest ships in the fleet and the staterooms are where you feel it the most. Our stateroom was configured oddly since we asked for separate twin beds. This stateroom also had optional pull down beds as this was set up to accommodate up to 4 passengers. I wouldn't want to cram 4 people in there. For the two of us we had plenty of storage space. It was a small room compared to the other ships we had been on, but the balcony was a great addition. I love sitting on the balcony at night and listening to the sea so this was a great upgrade. We chose YTD for this trip. We packed light for this trip and did not bring clothes for formal nights. If you must get anything on day one, get the strawberry cake pops from the buffet. Those are a definite guilty pleasure. We ate in the MDR each night except formal night. We were never disappointed in the selection or quality. We have in the past had spotty service in the YTD MDR on previous trips. The service on this trip was spot on from the beginning to the end. We also ate in the MDR for seaday brunch. Many stacks of pancakes later we were stuffed. Kevin Donohue was our CD and for the first time ever an CD made a difference in our cruise. Kevin was fantastic. He was fun and entertaining without being over the top or obnoxious. He seemed to genuinely enjoy the interaction and kept the fun going every day. I was impressed with how he dealt with events and people. So much fun. Kudos to Kevin for being the best we've had. We attended the love and marriage show (awkward and hysterical). We went to the towel folding demonstration. This was my son's idea, but surprisingly fun. He won at trivia so he was happy to have his ship on a stick. Carnival had no choice as to what the weather would be, but the weather was perfect each and every day. You can't complain with 85-90 and sun every day. We did a private all inclusive in Nassau and enjoyed it. We missed Half Moon Cay on our last trip and was able to go this time. I absolutely love HMC. It's the softest sand and crystal clear water. It's a bucket list beach. We knew there would be a seaweed issue in Grand Turk so we booked the Snorkel and Stingray excursion through the ship. We had 24 people on this excursion and had a blast. If this excursion had 50-60 people it would have been chaos, but 24 was manageable. I just could not believe how much we enjoyed this cruise and this ship. We went off peak so there were minimal kids, no crazy rowdy parties. Just people having fun. Having only one pool meant the pool was shoulder to shoulder people. If you wanted a chair by the pool get there early. The chairs weren't being hogged, they were being used. If you don't mind an older ship this was a great option for us. Relax, chill and have a good time. take a chance on an off peak trip. We would definitely do this again to go back to HMC. Great time had by all. Read Less

So we were looking for a quick getaway and happened upon this cruise, got a great deal. As it got closer, we were reading other reviews on this site and got really nervous. However, we needn’t have worried!! Everything about this trip was great. We had a Junior suite, so not sure if that had anything to do with it, but our Embarkation was the easiest we’ve come across in over 10 cruises. Disembarkation was also very smooth, although we had another excursion planned in Miami so that may have helped as well. We enjoyed the food, the entertainment, and the excursions. The only downside was that on day 2, a shipmate apparently vomited in the pool amd the pool was closed for probably 48 hours while they drained and cleaned it. We had planned to stay on the ship and enjoy the pool while docked in Nassau (been there multiple times) but the pool was shut down, so that was disappointing. The fan in our bathroom did not work which was really not a problem until we took showers too closely together and set the fire alarm off with the steam. The fire crew was very nice :) the Blue Iguana Cantina was fantastic, breakfast is served out there in the mornings as well, so instead of fighting the crowd in the big buffet, we ate by the pool every morning. The shows were all very, very good!!! They do not advertise the content of the shows, so go to them all so you don’t miss anything! One of the shows was 70’s era music and it was fabulous. Half Moon Cay was AMAZING, we booked a 9:00 excursion (horseback riding) so were first off the ship and able to secure beach chairs no problem. Half Moon Cay easily the best stop on this cruise, hands down. All in all, we were not disappointed at all. No smell that I’d read about in other reviews (believe me, i would have noticed!) the food was great, never met a steward/waiter etc that wasn’t smiling and greeting me. Dining staff greeted us by name and knew exactly my preferences by dinner #2. Same service I’d experienced on Royal Caribbean, just a more casual atmosphere. Loved every minute!! Read Less

I chose this cruise due to the length, ports of call, and price. I did a lot of research before the trip and knew what to expect. I think any cruise (just like life) is what you make it. If you are a negative person who finds fault in everything, then you probably won't enjoy this ship. Otherwise you will have a great time. There were five people in my party and this was a girls trip. Ages ranged from 18-47. Everyone in the group had a great time. Embarkation and debarkation were quick and easy. Great food options were available. The food was very good for the most part. Drinks were great. We loved the main dining room (Fantasy), Guy's Burgers and the Cantina. Buffet is typical buffet. There was always something that appealed to me on the menu. There were only a couple of dishes that I didn't think were fantastic. If you choose Anytime Dining, ask for Horace's section-he and his assistants were fantastic. We found them on the third night and requested their section for the remainder of the cruise. There are plenty of activities to stay busy if you want. There are also quiet places if you prefer. It's a small ship and there are a few decks where you can't go from bow to stern, but that's not a big deal to me. Even though this is an older ship, there were always people cleaning and I never encountered anything but cleanliness. The inside cabin was great. There were three of us, so it was a little tight with a trundle, but manageable. There is plenty of storage and the bathroom is a good size. The staff was the best part of being on the ship. Everyone was professional and pleasant. They worked very hard to make the cruise experience great. I would definitely go on this ship again. Port Reviews: Nassau is not my favorite port, mainly because there are always several ships docked and it is very busy. However, there is a variety of shore excursions to pick from and you can explore on your own. This time we did a walking tour of downtown and it was great. In addition to seeing all of the popular tourist sights, we found a few surprises along the way. Everyone we encountered was friendly (we stopped several people and asked for directions) and we felt safe, even in the non-touristy/rundown section we passed through. Half Moon Cay is the BEST beach ever! Totally perfect. We rented a cabana and it was worth every penny. Even if you don't have the money to get a cabana, you can find plenty of shade farther down the beach. This was my first time visiting Grand Turk and I can honestly say that it isn't one of my top favorite ports, but we had a good time and I would visit again. The people we encountered were very friendly, even though the area outside of the Cruise Center is very rundown. We rented a golf cart-it was very slow-and toured about half of the island. We stopped at a couple of beaches and then went to Jack's Shack for a late lunch. BEST fried grouper ever (and I am from Florida). Great food, drinks and people there. The dogs are the most polite beggars I have ever met. lol Read Less

We booked this 5 day cruise for the price and the ports. It was our 5 year anniversary and we decided on a cruise. Overall, it was "ok". We enjoyed the 3 ports (Nassau, Half Moon Cay & Turks) and our dune buggy excursion. There were too many children on the cruise, for my taste. The ship, on the other hand, needs some major updating and additional restaurants. We found the food to be bland. The burgers at Guy's burger joint were pretty good but you get tired of them after day 3. The deli, pizza and seaview buffett food was a "miss". We ate in the Ecstasy dining room and the food was "hit and miss". On a positive note, the staff were excellent...both the serving staff and the stewards. Very friendly, professional and helpful. I would suggest spending a few more dollars and booking a newer ship. We will cruise again but not on this ship. Read Less
