We chose the Dream because we enjoyed sailing on her out of New Orleans and got a casino offer at a pretty good rate out of Galveston which is where we live. Embarkation was simple and quick. It was really nice that the muster was indoors since it was mid August. Our stateroom was on Lido forward. This meant a lot of walking (I had a knee injury and had to use a cane), but we chose this stateroom so that's on us. The room was clean and tidy, but we didn't see much of our steward. Room was cleaned once per day during dinner hour. This is a far cry from the service Carnival provided in the past, though it's no fault of the steward. He did his best. Smoking areas on 5 and 11 received no bar service. They were very small areas with no access to pool nor whirlpools. Smokers were confined to the very small areas and not allowed to use sun loungers. Deck 5 smoking area was blocked off about half the cruise. Deck 11 smoking was right behind the stack and black oil spots were all over our clothes. Casino area was of course full of smokers. Where else could they go? Carnival makes a good bit of money off of smokers. STOP TREATING THEM LIKE TRASH!! One other thing about the casino...there was a drawing held one night and we were to receive an entry for every 100 points we had. We each had around 1300 points. We realized as we watched the names roll around on the screen that neither of our names were there. That didn't give us a very good feeling. Steakhouse. What happened here? This used to be a very nice experience with yummy food and beautiful composed plates. Now you get a piece of meat and roasted tomato dropped on your plate. Why this change??? Terrible. Raise the price if you need to, but don't just ruin it by destroying the ambience! Main dining Food mediocre as usual, but the service was impeccable. Yaco and his assistants were awesome. Yaco served drinks at the back pool on shore days and was the only server to come up to no man's land (smoking area). Thanks Yaco! Crew They were as awesome as they could be. They are overworked and treated like crap by many cruisers. We always treat them well, enjoy talking with them and tip extra. They are the only really enjoyable part of this cruise. Entertainment Violinists were good. Otherwise really lacking. I know you can get better entertainment. Finally We've all seen the carnival experience go downhill over the years. I understand keeping costs down to allow more people the opportunity to cruise. I've never cuised another line so have nothing to compare it to. I've always loved the cruising experience til now. It was the first time I've wanted to go home from a cruise. If you smoke, be warned you'll be treated by the cruise line as a lower class citizen. I won't say that I'll never cruise again, but right now I sure don't want to. Sad. Read Less

We have taken 21 cruises in the past 6 years. This was our first and probably our last on Carnival. First I will discuss the positive features of our cruise. We were on the 14 day cruise out of NY going to the Panama Canal. The food was excellent. We had lobster tails 2 nights and filet mignon on 1 night. The dinner choices were excellent! The had a brunch several mornings where Filet Mignon was also offered! The buffet had many choices. Good burgers, Tacos, Burittos and Pizza and Delli sandwiches. Pizza was offered 24 hours a day which was a plus. As far as entertainment goes the shows were good. We also saw a couple comedy shows which were average. The plus on this cruise were the DJ Xtreme and The Flying Scotsman the cruise director. They were amazing! They were by far the best DJ and the best cruise director we ever experienced on a cruise! As far as the cabin goes we were in 7335 an inside cabin. It was spacious for an inside cabin. Plenty of closet and storage space! Great lighting. Those are our positives regarding the cruise. Now for the negatives. The room was warm. We like to always cool down the room as soon as we arrive. After a day we knew that would not be possible. The thermostat was on the coldest setting yet it was warm and stuffy. We called customer service many times. By the way most times they do not answer their phones and you need to go to from desk. They checked the room and left us a note that the temperature was in the normal range set by Carnival. (74 is normal). To us its warm! Other cruises we can get it down to 68-70. about 5 days into the cruise we complained again about the heat to a night person at the desk. She said she will send someone. Miraculously they did an adjustment and we were happy for several day as the temperature was a constant 68.2! That didnt last for too many days! The temperature rose again to 74 and of course we complained and Carnival said its normal! We then gave up. The temperature around the ship is very uneven. For example, the dining room was cool yet the comedy club would be stifling hot. Even the comedian made a joke about the heat! Obviously the ship has not corrected their air conditioning problem! . The next issue was the plumbing. Its still in bad shape. Our toilet would make loud gurgling sounds at any time of the day for no apparent reason! Once it sounded like it was going to explode! We taped the noise on our phone and showed it to customer service and they just shrugged. A few times the toilet did not flush at all for an hour or 2 nd they start working again. We heard an entire line of toilets were not working for a good part of the day one day. As for the public bathrooms, they were dirty. Carnival cut corners not cleaning bathrooms as often as needed. Locks on bathroom stalls were broken. toilets didnt flush, many times paper towels was missing to hold the door open when leaving. I wish i had a list of all the times there was no soap in the soap dispenser in the mens room! The next problem was the condtion of the ship. Its obvious they fixed the atrium and updated many areas of the ship. But many areas were left in poor condition. There was rust in many areas of the ship. On deck 9 near the pool the floor was all rusted out, there were plastic buckets collecting the water dripping from deck 10 and the grating near the bathrooms was loose and people were constantly tripping on it! On deck 11 we sat by the pool and after a rain the water was running down the rusted stairway in buckets. On deck 9 the metal moulding was being held together with masking tape! Service in the dining room was bad. We had a "senior waiter" for most of the cruise for dinner. He would forget a dish here and there til we finally gave up asking... butter was not given even though we requested it twice. I asked for a club soda with desert every night. I received it maybe 5 out of 14 nights! Courses would be served fairly fast until dessert,.Then came the lull... we would wait maybe 30 minutes for dessert. Teaspoons were not to be had. They were not in our place setting and we had to ask every night. No one ever came to clean up the crumbs on our table after the main course. We would just do it ourselves. Breakfast service was no better. you had to ask many times to receive the items ordered. The condition of the ship as bad as previously described. The entrance to the limelight club had this red carpet that curled. Trip hazard but no one cared! There were broken ice machines in the buffet, electronic door out of order to name a few other problems. Guest services was clueless. For the most part they all were pleasant and courteous. But they did NOT answer phones when you called from the room! we asked them several questions at the front desk and they rarely had the answers. Obviously they were poorly trained about the ship features and events. Norovirus. This ship is an accident waiting to happen. There is a severe lack of hand sanitizers. Soap dispensers in the bathrooms are empty many times. Lack of paper towels to open bathroom doors. The crew is NOT proactive to prevent norovirus. Also the choice of tv stations was bad. We did not have CNBC or Bloomberg. We did not have CNN or any equivalent news station. The tv did not function properly. One station you could barely hear and another station would be blasting! To sum up, the food and dj and cruise director were great. The ship was in bad shape and crew was not properly trained. The ship probably need another week or two in drydock and was taken out too soon for the sake of profits. Read Less

Chose this cruise because it was 5 days and at a port not too far from where we lived. Easy drive. Embarkation went smoothly. Cabins weren't ready until 1:30pm so we went to Lido Deck buffet. When we got to the cabin, our room attendant came in and asked us when we wanted our room made up. Morning, afternoon or night. We chose morning. That means they don't appear again till the next morning. Surprise. No more evening turn down. The ship, the Ecstasy, is old. And it shows. Outdated décor, so much paint, you can count the layers. The ship smelled bad, especially afternoons and evenings. Other people commented on that too. We were on the 4th floor. It smelled like a nursing home. We ate the first two nights in the dining room. We had dine when you want. We were seated promptly. The first night we ordered salmon. Overcooked as was the baked potato. The food was not hot. The second night we had prime rib. It was okay, but again it was cold. The other nights we ate in the buffet. The food was at least hot up there. The best thing about the food was the desserts. They were great. Guy Fiery's hamburger joint was also good. We have been on many cruises and always looked forward to lobster night. Well, no more, That will cost you $20. I also got a glass of wine the first night. $11. I can buy 2 bottles of wine for that. The entertainment was good. Their private island is beautiful. We didn't take any excursions from the ship. Too expensive. You can arrange sightseeing off ship for a lot less. Overall, we were very disappointed with the condition of the ship and activities. Thank God they had a place where adults could go. IT's at the back of the ship. Disembarkation went smoothly. Read Less

I have been on two carnival cruises in past eight months/spent around 15k on tickets and onboard services. The service and organization on cruise to Alaska in August outweighed high pressure sales at spa/jewelry store/art gallery. The mediocre service/lack of organization on cruise out of Galveston over spring break, 2019, along with the high pressure sales that bordered on deceptive trade practices make it highly unlikely I’ll cruise with Carnival again. At an appointment at spa for massage I inquired about a facial. They reported an opening at 8:00 a.m. the following day. I said I’d think about it and let them know, and the girl said “We’ll keep it open for you!” When I called later that day to let them know I did not want the facial because my young daughter was seriously sea sick and throwing up, they reported that they would still charge my credit card due to failure to cancel (I never “booked”) w/i 24 hrs. At the art gallery I expressed interest in a piece. They were very insistent that I purchase right then and there. I left saying I’d think about. I got a call two days later asking about the art I “purchased.” When I said I never purchased, they preceded to tell me I had “reserved” the piece and was obligated to buy. Only when I asked them to show me what I had signed indicating I was reserving or buying, did they relent. Also, they were very unaccomofating fir my 80 yr old family member I had with me. They refused to allow me to take the elevator with her when boarding, and it took me an hour to find her after. Upon disembarking, they said she had to wait in the same line with everyone else, which took 45 minutes (she can barely stand with a walker. Carnival, I’m very disappointed and encourage all reading to reconsider cruising with them! Read Less

Took the 5 day cruise on the Valor with my brothers and their wives. We have been on many other ships and this was the first that was rusted, very limited live entertainment, deserts were only cake and ice cream only and steak and lobsters were $20 extra.(we have always had free lobster 1 night on other ships). The carpeting in the "suite" was very stained and I had to have them fix the balcony door so it would close properly. Shopping area was basically 2 stores and very high prices. (We were given $50 gift certificates to the store and spa and they would not pay 50% of the cheapest item which was a $125 message. There were some $10 items sold in the hallway kiosks that looked pretty nice. I was not given my promised $50/person onboard credits even though it is printed on the ticket and the free drink card I won at the casino was almost worthless as it took an average of 30 minutes for the ONE waiter to get to the table or machines and the card would not work at a bar. Slot payouts were extremely low with 5 ea 7's only paying $80 on a $1 machine. The only bright spot was the service, in that our stateroom attendant and dining room waiter (Nilson) were very good. We didn't take the excursions this time but Progresso is a new village inside a shipping port with about 20 vendors that were branches of the ones in Cozumel. We did not have children but there were a lot of them on the ship even during school days. Although we are regular cruise veterans, we would not consider the Valor. Read Less

This cruise was booked last minute. We decided to sail out of Charleston SC for the first time. Usually sail out of Baltimore or one of the Florida ports but decided to try Charleston as it was only a 2 hour drive from home. Was a little concerned after reading reviews of the port and the ship. Have sailed on this class ship before so we were somewhat familiar. We arrived at the port at our assigned time of 1130 and there were no lines. Dropped off our luggage and got into the pay to park line. This line seemed very unorganized. the people taking your credit card just kind of walked around complaining about there job.Thankfully the lines were short. Were directed to the parking lot took the shuttle to the terminal. Have to say this the crappiest port I'll ever sailed out of.The area looks like it should be condemned. What an eyesore. Check in was easy and fast and we were soon on the ship having lunch. Went directly to Guys Burgers, and had a great burger and then to the pizza place. Pretty good pizza. The deli also had good sandwiches. By this time the buffet was getting very crowded so we left. Most of the cruise we could not find a seat in the buffet. The weather did not cooperate as was cold except the one day in Nassau.Went one time to the dining room for the Sea day brunch. This is 95 % breakfast and 5% lunch. Not a lot of variety there and if you are hungry just order 2 of everything because the portions are very small. Never went back for brunch! Had anytime dining for dinner never had to wait. Service in dining room was ok. The food was kind of hit or miss. Our cabin was a basic outside cabin and we had enough room. The cabin guy did a good job.Shows were ok and the comedy shows were great. Did self walk off and were driving home at 8 oclock. Bottom line if you are looking for a cheap no frills cruise this is it. I will give the Carnival Sunshine a try when she arrives in Charleston later this year. Every one seems excited about that. Just remember you get what you pay for. Read Less

I have always bragged to others about the quality and variety of food on the Carnival Menu and buffets. BUT on the Sunshine it was the worst food ever encountered on a cruise ship. Our food was cold, crusty, and dried. The salads were browned lettuce and soups were cold. The service was extremely slow and not acceptable at all. We are both diamond VIP members with Carnival. We have sailed on over two hundred cruises and most every cruise line. We understand that booking with different cruise lines you will experience different types of food, however, cold, tasteless, no quality food is unacceptable regardless of the cruise line. The Carnival product has greatly deteriorated and is not at all like previous Carnival cruises we have experienced on most every cruise ship in their fleet! We are very concerned that this ship does not follow ADA guidelines. It was one of the most unfriendly to handicapped passengers in wheelchairs and the guests were unwilling to share the elevators even though the US law states that wheelchair passengers have first priority in the elevator use. Fellow passengers are getting more and more antagonistic toward those who cannot walk and must use a wheelchair as well as the cruise ship staff! It is interesting to note that Carnival is changing the booking mechanism for handicapped cabins. They have gone from wheelchair cabins with roll in showers to calling the same exact cabin a "walker" cabin thereby eliminating the need to accommodate wheelchair guests. It is blatant discrimination. We will carefully review our choices for cruising this year and go back to cruise line whose product we can trust. Carnival product is no longer the same. Read Less

One thing that works on this ship is the a/c! We love the Punchliner comedy but it was so cold in the Ebony Cabaret you could hang meat in there, we could not bear to stay in there for the comedians. Room service was very late or non-existant! Saw our room steward, Antonio, on first day and never for the rest of the cruise. MDR menus seem to be scaled way down with fewer options. Buffet seemed to be the same things repeatedly. Embarkation and debarkation went smoothly since we are Platinum members. Cabin smelled like sewage when we came in. Although it was an "accessible" cabin, it was very crowded and inadequate storage. The beds could not be separated without blocking the mini-fridge. The ports and excursions were great however there was alot more walking than we bargained for. The piers alone are very very long! We enjoyed the Hasbro game show and the trivia games. General decor on this ship is not impressive and left us non-plussed. Read Less

We saw a Smithsonian channel segment on new ships with Vista included. We live in Dallas so Galveston was convenient. This ship is bigger than other Carnival ships we have sailed on but it doesn't seem large inside. The atrium is a much documented problem. It is small, mostly bar, three stories with glass railings and bar stools at the railings to look down and watch-- what? In fact, this whole ship is to sit, drink and watch someone else do something and be told you are having fun doing it. I had the soda package and got great service with it. Our spa balcony cabin was like any other balcony, glass window/single glass door to outside. The robes provided were frayed at the necks and belts. Only two elevators go Deck 14 but also go to all decks so it is impossible to get an elevator. You walk up and down to 12 to gain access to all elelvators. The private stairway from Deck 14 to spa was nice but there was a peculiar odor on the stairwell. The spa is a hugh disappointment. The "thermal pool" is a rectangular hot tub approx 6"by14" with benches and jets down one side so you sit lined up with other passengers like ducks in a row. Holds about 6. We sail Norwegian with their great spas and were aghast. There are 8 or 9 heated lounges, far too few for the ship spa population. Saunas and steam rooms were okay. One has switch for different steam smells but it never worked. WORST OF ALL, personnel do not come and go in the spa area and passengers have loud conversations with many guffaws, pass cell phone pictures back and forth with comments, and two gentlemen had a very loud thermal pool conversation about deer getting into their yards, trapping, killing and dressing the deer--for all within forty feet to endure. No relaxing music, no aromatherapy and no "quiet" signs posted. No monitoring of what is going on in the spa area. Don't waste your money on the "pseudo spa." The shows were what you would expect, comedians were really good, IMax ok, shore excursion ok. WE ARE BALLROOM DANCERS AND NO DANCING ON THIS SHIP. There is music played above atrium bar but no dancing on atrium dance floor as it has two photographer screens set up. Two clubs with dance floor had really fast music to sit and listen and drink to. DJ same thing. One country western band drew crowd of mostly Texan passengers but no recognizable CW played. Some announced as "Canadian." No one on the dance floor just sitting. One night after enduring an entire set of this music, the band announced their last song would be "something you can dance to" They played a waltz and fifteen couples danced. THAT'S 30 PEOPLE WHO HAD BEEN SITTING, BEING TOLD THEY WERE HAVING FUN. It never happened again. We watched people walk by the dance floor, listen a minute and walk on. Carnival told us they were focusing on FUN and ballroom dancing did not fit their program. The quality of bands and two person ensembles was poor across every group. On exception was the vocalist in one band who belted out Gladys Knight's "If I were Your Woman" like a Vegas act. It made enduring that evening almost worth it. The food is very good on the Vista throughout all the restaurants we tried. The brew pub was fun. My husband thought the beef very good(nice praise from a Texas beef eater) They do great seafood dishes and the restaurant brunch on sea days is very nice. The crew and service are great. The crew are very nice and try very hard to please. We had this ship booked for June, 2019 for nine members of our family to celebrate graduations and a birthday. We are cancelling. The attractons for teenagers didn't look that good to us.The arcade had little kid and teenage games side by side-not good. We want a better designed ship, nicer spa, more space and to find real fun, not what we are told is fun. We want to have dinner and dancing. Isn't that what cruise ships do? Read Less

We chose this cruise because we were drawn to the newness of the ship and a chance to do an 8 day vacation. The ship and its physical features were clean and fresh. From towels, linens and furnishings, it was very nice. The service was excellant throughout the ship. The dining staff continually sought a “10” rating and with only one minor issue, they worked hard to succeed. The current gimmick is that service personnel attempt to address guests by their first name in an effort to personalize the dining service. Due to the design of specialty restaurants including outdoor seating, the promenade deck offers many comfy chairs and couches that are available when the restaurants are not open. Embarkation was very easy and soon found our bags inside our room - or that could have been a necessity based on very narrow hallways. Some of the individual musical acts were delightful. However, there is no ‘big’ show on this ship. There were Purell dispensing machines near food service areas and several extremely innovative hand washing stations. The staff and signage placed absolutely no emphasis on hand sanitation at any of the food service areas including the private restaurants. This was particularly disappointing as we have seen exceptional efforts made on other cruise brands. While we are not gourmets or foodies, having been on Carnival cruises we felt we had our food expectations set appropriately low. In spite of the shiny brand new ship and the staff working very hard to be personable, the food was consistently poor/bad. The dining room worked very hard to serve us, but the food was of poor quality. The Lido Marketplace has two main dininroom areas with four serving areas, each of which had identical offering. You were able to see the same huge bowl of rice and mysterious Hot dishes - four times. Oddly shaped carving station ‘meats’ were exceptionally unappetizing. The basic salad ingredients were available, however the salad dressing was thin with little to no flavor and was served in tall plastic pouring pitchers, which naturally were completely covered with oily handprints. The primary dessert offering in the Lido was a variety of very attractively decorated cakes. The lack of flavor and texture was evident by an incredible volume of wasted, uneaten cake slices. The real gut turner was the horribly unsanitary cake cutting procedure. There were tall water filled cylinders full of cake and icing sludge being used to rinse the utensils between slices. This resulted in you receiving a wet drippy slice of cake. CertInly not moist cake. As for the private branded food offerings, the Guy Fiery burger station served the best cheeseburger afloat. The Pig & Anchor barbecue, a bar restaurant, offered the best authentic beef, pork, chicken barbecue. In our opinion. The best food on the ship, except for the best cheeseburgers afloat. We were delighted to find the highly attractive Cherry Top candy store only to be disappointed in stale candy and tasteless watery ice cream. How can such a new ship serve stale candy ? Read Less

The crew is friendly but rather unhelpful, they never clarified any instructions and I was offered a drink maybe once in my several days by the pool. There was no one out taking drink orders and bringing drinks. The food at the formal dining was not great, and even upon sitting at the bar my younger sister tried to get the crews attention for over 30 minutes. I’m addition when we made it to our second stop we originally were told we could get off at 11, well going through customs has people still on the boat it’s alrwady 2 o’clock. Originally they also said we didn’t have to be back on the hot until 8, that has also been moved up until 6:30. This is the most unruly cruise I’ve ever been on, people are missing their excursions they paid hundreds of dollars for, and frankly it isn’t even worth it to get off the boat anymore. Simply ridiculous. All of this said, we were looking for a cheaper cruise but I feel even for the price it wasn’t worth it. Read Less

This was our third cruise on Carnival (5th overall) and, to be honest, I don’t think I will cruise with them again. This ship was very rundown and dirty. Our stateroom was not that bad except for the carpet, which was filthy. I don’t think our stateroom was vacuumed the whole time we were there as there was a piece of food or something under the desk when we got there that was still there when we left. The mattress was a little hard but the rest of it was OK. The worst thing, though, was the excursion we did in Ocho Rios. It was the Island Tour and Bamboo Beach Break. It was supposed to make 4 stops before ending up on the beach. At only two of those were we allowed to get off the bus. Mainly they were restroom stops where the line to use the facilities was long and then it was “get back on the bus.” After the first stop, we pulled over in a parking lot and were told there was something wrong with our bus and we needed to wait for them to bring us another bus. They didn’t say what was wrong with the bus, just said it was for our safety and that it wouldn’t take away from our beach time. We waited maybe 1/2 hour for the new bus after being told, “It’s 10 min away.” “It’s 5 min away.” and it ended up taking much longer than that. Next “stop” was the old church built in the 1500s. We basically just drove up to it, turned around and drove away. Our guide said we were not allowed to get out and enter the church unless we were Catholic but I saw someone else’s YouTube video of the same tour and they actually got out, walked around the church and even when inside. So, that was a lie and I think it was really due to our long wait for them to bring us another bus. We ended up at the Bamboo Beach Club where the tour description said we would be “shown to a chair on the beach and brought a cool drink.” In reality, we were handed a drink from a tray when we exited the bus. Our group of chairs were actually the furthest away and on a very rocky, tree lined part of the beach. By the time we reached the area where we were told to sit, the ice in my drink was melted so I asked for more which, of course, never materialized. We had to step over rocks and tree roots while carrying a drink and then down a rocky slope to even get to the beach. I had seen other’s pictures where the chairs we right on the shore so you could walk directly into the water without all the climbing. The description also said food would be available for purchase, so I assume there was little snack bar something on the beach. It ended up being a three-course lunch for either $17 or $22 and you had to buy the drink extra. It was either that or you got nothing. I ended up purchasing the jerk chicken meal for $17. To be honest, it was not that great. The chicken was good but the rice and coldeslaw seemed bland to me and she kept forgetting my soup. When it finally arrived, it was good, some sort of fish soup and the best thing about the meal. My sister had the fish option for $22 and was served first but they kept forgetting her silverware. So, her meal got cold while waiting for utensils. They also kept forgetting my brother-in-law’s beer, so he actually did not get it until he was finished with his meal. I went to the restroom, which was back by where the bus was parked and, when I came out, was told it was time to get back on the bus. We hadn’t had out desert yet so they ended up bringing us our desert to eat on the bus. It seemed mostly a setup to put Jamaicans to work, so you can’t fault them for that. I just wonder how much of the money they get for those meals. The activities on “sea days” seemed kind of rushed and were always late starting. My husband likes to play corn hole and, for this activity, they only let you have one throw the first time. If you didn’t make it on the board, you were automatically out. Also they were positioned at the end of the bar so you could not see the rest of the participants from where we sitting in the bar. We saw two comedians, one of which was great and the other was not good at all. He even kept commenting about how people weren’t laughing. The variety show was music and dancing was just so so. But, the biggest thing I noticed is that the staff seemed less attentive than on other Carnival ships I’ve been on. On other ships, if you order a drink the first night, that drink is waiting for you on other nights or at least they ask you if that is what you want to drink . On this ship, I had to ask for my drink every night and sometimes it was not brought to me until mid-meal. Also, it seems like a small thing, but we did not have towel animals in our room every day, haha! Only the first, fourth, and fifth days. As I said, it’s a small thing, but we look forward to opening our door and seeing what the animal will be! Carnival is billed as “the fun ships” and we’ve always had a great deal of fun on every cruise but this one. I guess our expectations were just too high! Read Less

sailed on sunshine before . wanted to go back . This cruise was ; the cruise from hell. Whatever could go wrong , did. Major problem was FTTF. Delayed on check-in, boarded with non FTTF guest. No stickers put on cabin cards waited in long line at front desk to get them put on. confirmed Reservations for dinner not honored. when talked to dining staff, told them of reservations made a year ago, they just dismissed me and said sorry. Cabin was not ready when we boarded plus the air was not working. took two days to get it working half way . Luggage arrived after everyone on our floor got theirs; then 2 pieces didn't show up until very late in the day. the only thing that worked on FTTF was getting off the ship. We are repeat cruisers on Carnival and unfortunately, we noticed how their service has gone downhill over the last 3 years. Before that , the service was excellent. Carnival should be more honest with people who purchase FTTF . Tell them that not all aspects of it work. For people who purchase it just to get on and get off quicker, more power to them, I will no longer waste my money on a program where only one or two of the perks work. Read Less

We like to just get away sometime at a reasonable price and the 4 day trip from Tampa to Cozumel fits the bill. What has been increasingly negative was the lack of rule enforcement. There were ball caps, flip-flops and tee shirts in the restaurant and not a word was uttered to the transgressor. On Lido deck there were soaking wet shirtless and shoeless people dining which made it a disgusting experience for the law abiders. Once again, nothing was said. Additionally, the hallways thru the cabins were littered with plates, cups and utensils loaded with half-eaten food. In the fitness club, unaccompanied minors were permitted to enter because the folks at the desk were preoccupied with selling spa treatments. The unlimited drink program is another cause for concern as many younger cruisers cannot imbide sensibly and were seen literally bouncing off the walls. On the positive side, the entertainment was excellent with a very talented troupe of singers and dancers along with great sets and lighting. This was not enough to make up for all the other shortcomings, however. All in all, this trip will be out last on Carnival and we couldn't wait to get off the ship. Read Less

This was my first time on a Carnival Cruise. I didn't like it at all. The service was great from everyone that worked there though.however the cruise itself was disappointing. This ship is really dated and it shows. The handicapped room we had was very small and claustophobic like. The bed that came down from the ceiling made sleeping on the one below it feel like a casket. It had wood on top of you and on the side of you which didn't allow u to be comfortable in the bed. You can hit your head and won't be able to watch TV from it. The way the room is setup is very weird. The TV needs to be placed where everyone can see it. There's a lack of walking space in between the beds and the cabin itself. The bathroom was spacious and comfortable.it was nice to sit on a shower chair and have great pressure come from the hand held shower. The floor does get wet but the water drains thru the drains on the floor. There is good space for putting things away like clothing and personal items. There's a small fridge and a safe. This cabin was R298. It was in the middle of nowhere as far as trying to access any of the popular area from it.It was quite a walk. I recommend a scooter not a wheelchair on this ship and in the Bahamas. Way too much walking and the heat on the island is extremely hot and fatiques you easily. the elevators were small and took a very long time to come down to you and a lot of the time they were already filled with people so you had to continue waiting even longer for the next elevator. the ship itself had barely any gift shops to shop at and they were very small not to mention very expensive. I highly recommend to have any medications or toiletries with you from home instead of buying them on the ship. My mom got sick on the ship with a cold and had to pay $12 for a small package of cold medicine. There were a lot of bars and lounges on the ship, however I didn't feel that there was enough of a choice of food to eat. The buffet had two sides to it and both sides had the same kind of food which was very limited as far as what they were serving. I was looking forward to the Mongolian station but I never did get to see it. Guys burger joint and blue iguana Cantina are located outside near the pool area which is extremely crowded and very hot. There were two main dining rooms and I did not like the food on the ship at all regardless of where we ate. The temperature of the food a lot of times was just warm not hot. The room service selection was extremely limited unless you were willing to pay a few dollars extra to get something better such as quesadillas. otherwise you were mostly stuck with a couple of salads and some sandwiches to choose from. There was also a deli located around the corner from the buffet which was okay. It's served some sandwiches and hot dogs. I was under the understanding that there was a place called The Seafood Shack on this ship but I did not find that either. The lemonade and the ice tea that are served on the buffet are ok in taste. There is only 1 pools in this ship that I found. It was the main one that had two small hot tubs on either side. A lot of the time the pools were extremely crowded and the hot tubs were filled with children so I was not able to experience either of them. The Serinity part of the ship is completely outdated, it is dosent have the relaxing blue colors they are dull gray colors. I think I saw a small hot tub and no pool. I don't even remember seeing any umbrellas over you while you sat there. There is no bar located there, I did however see someone coming around taking drink orders. We're okay there was a lack of activities to do on the ship. The Spa was extremely small and it did not have a relaxing atmosphere at all almost felt like you were in a doctor's office. my fifteen-year-old attended the teen club once however the club was barely open and it seems very outdated and it also was small. for kids with disabilities they do offer a phone that you can get where they will call you if they are any emergencies for a deposit of $100. I did attend an art gallery showing which was fun it allowed me to learn a little bit more about art and also to enjoy looking at some art and attempting to get some prices and relax with some free champagne. the embarkation process was very simple and organized and the disembarkation process as well however I cannot strongly suggest this enough to have someone with a scooter if you have any mobility issues because it is a lot of walking and it is extremely hot.I would recommend another ship I will try Carnival again but definitely not this ship. Chose the cruise for the ports, price and duration. They have PLENTY OF AFTER MARKET CHARGES. A tumbler i bought disappeared from our room. They excursions are in line with other ships so they are extremely crowded. Lines are super long, the bathrooms were FILTHY. AND YOU COULD NOT EAT IN PEACE BECAUSE THEY HARKED THEIR WARES. They crowd you on buses like starving cattle. Ask you for tips while the cruise ship makes money off promoting these crowded unmonitored excursions. The extra fees and tips will run you another 50 minimum each. The kids aren't encouraged to attend any free activities. You can never find someone to help you. Cant find a trash can anywhere. The food is BLAND AT BEST. The food specialty areas (for example coffee and hot sandwiches) never have more than 2 workers per station for 1000s of people to discourage you from using the services due to the long waits. All extra activities like bingo are extra. The board game rooms have tons of the same few games all with missing parts. No playing cards. Underage drinking was rampant. Kids using their bubbles cards had a difficult time getting sodas from the bars and servers. You dont get a refund for money you won once they get to port. It should be your money...and i could keep going....say no to Carnival Paradise. Read Less

The embarkation process was efficient but the security checking staff need to improve their manners and consideration of elderly passengers, and try to emulate their counterparts at airport security checks. Dining in Empire rooms unsatisfactory, queues to get in, noisy loudspeaker announcements and meat and fish dishes sometimes tortured. Exactly the same dishes available in better condition in La Playa grill. Price of wine unreasonably high cf my previous cruises, $14.25 per glass. The La Playa grill was well run with pleasant and efficient staff I was told there was no longer alibrary on board, a deprivation The cabin was good and steward efficient and pleasant The electronics for allocating places on tenders to go ashore at Ile des Pins broke down leading to delays, confusion, and yet more queuing. Someone at breakfast first day out warned me to “expect the atmosphere of visiting your local RSL club in Sydney “ - a very perceptive remark. Sorry to be so negative but the senior management of Carnival needs to improve Read Less

The embarkation in Port Canaveral was very organized but anything that went smooth all week was quickly forgotten today during disembarkation. We were in port for over 4 hours before the "carry your own luggage off" group was called to leave. There were no explanations or updates about the delay from the cruise director , "Jess from the U.S." Many passengers were yelling down to deck 3 asking for info. It was 5.25 hours before deck 8 was called. By then hundreds had taken their chances on exiting with the groups with luggage. The "Chefs Table" was fabulous as always. We loved the food and the host, Lama. Too, too much food but it was wonderful. Our wait staff, Leonilde (sp) and Rhoman in the Sunset Dining Room were great all week. I try to avoid the buffet but enjoyed breakfast/brunch in the Sunrise Dining Room. I was disappointed in the room service menu: my favorites were either removed or are now "extras". Breakfast on the balcony has been a big plus in the past. We enjoyed The evening shows in the Liquid Lounge .The Epic Rock production was one of the best I've ever seen on board any cruise line. We also enjoyed the meeting to honor veterans. We chose our excursion in Aruba based on previous reviews (ages 55-65+) but did not enjoy the Kukoo Kunuku party bus . There was a much younger crowd that night. The bars and restaurant we went to were in questionable areas at best. Some had security guards to escort us from the bus into the building. Most of the places had no other patrons besides the Carnival excursion. The mystery drinks served were free but strange tasting so we switched early on to bottled beer.I was very happy to get back to the ship. There wasn't a lot to do on sea days besides shop the usual trinkets and port needs. The jewelry was beautiful but browsing the display cases is impossible without the constant hovering . .....the fastest way to run me off. My enthusiasm for a rare stone was squelched quickly and I never returned. I will persue it locally. Read Less

We were really excited for this cruise. I usually go with Carnival, because the food is great, service is impeccable, and good bang for the buck. Good points first: Embarkation was wonderful! Quick, no long lines, and on the ship in a jiffy. Some of the staff were very friendly. A couple of the salads at the salad bar were really good. A trio of violinists called the Sunny Trio were the high point for us. Very talented and unexpected! Now for the bad: Food quality: Many of the desserts had a gelatinous texture. Chicken served to me at Guy's Pig and Anchor (I think that's the name) was 1/2 skin and fat, and I had to throw most of it away. Pulled pork had some dried out bites that no amount of the delicious bbq sauce would cover up. Dinners were hit and miss. Some were pretty good while others I would rather forget. Service: The worst! I'm a gold member so I've taken my share of Carnival cruises. Never have I had poor service until now. Some of the waiters were downright grumpy! Night 2: Elegant night - Late dining. Our table was given 1 small roll each and the basket was taken away. We waited 1 hour before receiving appetizers, and my son didn't get his! He waited another 15 minutes before bringing it to server's attention. That and the fact that he ordered 2 bottles of wine which had not been served. By this time, we were VERY HUNGRY! My son finally got his appetizer after we were completely finished with ours - sauce dried on the plate presumably from sitting somewhere for a very long time. Bottles of wine came after waiting 90 minutes or more from the time we ordered! This was NOT an isolated incident. We breakfasted with another couple the we just met in the dining room. The wife never received her omelet. When the husband brought it to the waiter's attention (after we were completely finished with our food) I could see the waiter around the corner picking up entree lids until he found the errant omelet and served it to her. It probably had been sitting there 30 minutes. Our last dinner aboard ship, we experienced the same thing. Sitting, sitting, waiting for food...any food. We were just getting our desserts after most of the dining room had left. There were several tables that had this incredible poor service. I had to step aside for wait staff several times a day. Normally they let you pass. The pools: Standing room only! It was ridiculous. I heard several people complaining that the spas were cold to lukewarm. I have to wonder if Carnival has severely cut staff to cut costs. Grumpy waiters, low quality food, & poor service = save $ for Carnival? Carnival, you just lost a long time customer. Read Less

Went to find some April sunshine. Good points first: Never found the ship overcrowded even though almost 4000 passengers on board. Plenty of sunbeds and comfortable beds in the cabin. Bad Points: VAT on drinks!!. Who are they paying VAT too in the middle of the Med??. Excursions are extortionately priced and much easier to make your own way around. Food in main restaurant is mediocre to average at best with not much choice. If you wish to dine in the 555 steakhouse it is an extra $35 per head, if you wish to dine in the Tepanyaki, Asian fusion, Pig roast or any feature restaurant it is another $20 or $25 extra.. If you have a drink brought to your table you have to pay VAT and service charge. Wine in main restaurant advertised for $38 actually cost more than $47 with added VAT and service charge. How many restaurants charge you to bring wine to a table??. Carnival constantly push bingo sales and so called deals in the casino, there are numerous photographers around the main decks pushing you to have photo's taken at silly prices. Main theatre is on 2 levels, DO NOT choose upper level as you will see very little. I have done many cruises and will never use Carnival again. Only choose them if you wish to offload a lot of money!!! Read Less

Carnival Glory Cruise Director and Entertainment were terrible!!!! Have been on several cruises - this was a big disappointment. Cruise acted like a Mama’s Constantine referring to his Mother pretending to receive calls from her while on stage. Not funny!!! Drove it into ground. The entertainers were great dancers but terrible singers. At our evening dinner table we all agreed that this was the worst entertainment we had experienced on any of our cruises. The disembarking process was a total disaster - changed the rules constantly. No one knew what was going on or where you were suppose to be. Food was very good. Servers were great being very polite. Our room was very nice and well maintained. Enjoyed the ports. If Cruise Director and entertainiers were replaced this would have been a great cruise. Could only tolerate so much of the Cruise Durectirs Mama’s bit routine and the terrible singing of the entertainers. It was like they were hollering instead of singing. Read Less

I went on this cruise with friends to celebrate our 60th Birthdays. The food in The dining room was excellent, at Guys burgers, was very good. But the buffet and Mexican restaurant needed much improvement. The rooms could use updates along with all the bathrooms on the ship. The cruise director Benjamin and the guy in the piano bar were the best things about the whole cruise. I would never go in the Fantasy again. Dealing with drunk and disorderly guest was terrible. I guess these are cruises for younger people who like to stay drunk all of the time. I will say I was very pleased with how they handled the drunk and disorderly in a timely fashion. The room stewards were pleasant but not the best we have ever had on a cruise before. I was just overall disappointed in the ship and the condition it was in. Read Less
