I chose this cruise because my family wanted to cruise and not have to fly to do it. I had been on this ship before and it was ok. I thought it would be better this time since it was a few years ago since my last trip. SMOKING, SMOKING, SMOKING, I had no idea that carnival allowed smoking on the ship, at almost 4 areas. I was sick the entire time, the smoke caused lung issues and breathing issues for me the entire trip. I had to mostly stay in my cabin due to the smoke all over the ship. None of the areas were enclosed, so therefore the smoke was everywhere! I could not enjoy the casino, due to smoking and neither enjoy the activities in the main lobby areas due to the smoke all over! So really I hated the trip! Due to the smoke I needed some meds from the medical clinic, however if you did not catch them when they were open u had to wait 4 or 5 hours when ever they decided to open up again! Hint: medical facility should have 24 hour access on a ship! There were very few daily activities planned, got very bored with eating and sitting in the dining areas, absolutely nothing to do during the day! Food was barely warm, at all times, fries always cold! Never saw any sanitizing on the ship. RCCL always sanitizes the ship right before your eyes! Carnival, please order sufficient supplies in your medical unit, I was told the simple over the counter med., I needed was sold out, and it was the second day! Waters were really rocky and no explanation or notification was given at anytime about why the ship was so rocky the first two days of sail! Guys burger place had the (car wash rags for napkins) absolutely poor taste. Not looking forward to traveling with carnival again! Read Less

We had never been on a cruise before, but we're curious enough to give it a shot. So glad we did. We sailed out of Baltimore for the convenience factor. We live about 30 minutes north of Allentown, PA, so the drive wasn't bad at all. Cruise terminal was very easy to get to. Traffic flowed smoothly and all staff were VERY helpful. We breezed right through the security line, no waiting. We sat a bit until they were ready to let everyone board, but we were still in the serenity area on a clamshell with adult beverages in hand by 12:15. Our cabin was gorgeous. I'll admit, I was nervous. I read a lot of negative reviews about the conditions of cabins. Absolutely no complaints. There was a bit of rust on the balcony, but seeing as how it's a boat with a whole lot of exposure to salt water and weather, the rust was minimal. The staff were. All. Amazing. Japhett was our steward and was fantastic. It seemed as though he knew what we wanted before we did. Very attentive and really nice. We spent the bulk of our time on the Lido deck by the pool. Dr E was our cruise director and he was hilarious. With his "good morning" and "good evening" songs and everything in between, he kept us laughing all week long. Our favorite was the guess that 70s/80s song activity in the main atrium. He outdid himself. Huge shout out to all of the bartenders, but our favorites were Nebo and H at the Blue Iguana Tequila Bar. These guys are hilarious and super friendly. As for the negative reviews. I read a ton of these after I booked this cruise. Here's my 2 cents, and I've read other reviews saying the same thing: know what things are most important to you when you book your cruise. Don't book a Carnival cruise if all you're looking for is quiet and relaxation. We were incredibly relaxed when we came home, but there's a lot going on on this ship. If you're expecting super high end, maybe check out a different cruise line. This boat was exactly as it was advertised: family friendly and party-like atmosphere. In general, the negative reviews were extremely nit-picky. It's a vacation. You're on a cruise with 2,400 of your newest best friends. There's absolutely nothing worth getting all fired up about. Also, be nice to the staff. They live there. We're guests in their home. If you wouldn't do it in your own, don't do it there. (Yes, I'm talking to you, lady who dumped an entire plate of food in the buffet line and just walked away without so much as an apology to the crew member on the floor trying to pick everything up so no one would step on it. Also talking to the gentleman with the stellar personality who screamed at the attendant at the pizza station...I still haven't figured out what was so upsetting.) Sidenote: also know what you're looking for as far as entertainment. I read a ton of reviews about folks being wildly offended by the late night comedy shows. Here's the thing. On the daily newsletter, it says right on it that the late night comedy shows are rated R and only suitable for 18+. Further, before the show even started an announcement is made reminding everyone of such, and also suggests that if you're easily offended or even a little sensitive, you find your way out. The comedians were absolutely hysterical and don't deserve to be slammed for being totally offensive by folks who were well warned as to what they were getting into. Our cruise on the Carnival Pride has set off a total cruise addiction. We came home Sunday and booked our next cruise on Wednesday. Carnival is fantastic! Read Less

We enjoyed cruising on the Pride. Leaving from Baltimore is a plus. Only a 30 minute drive from home. Check in was a breeze, they had a good system that was quick. Slowed down to take a picture for memories. Boarded ship nlt 1pm and room was ready by 2pm. Met our stateroom steward, Tegum. He kept our room tidy and requests handled in a timely manner. This was our fifth time on the Pride. Our first stop was to Guy's Burger and we were not disappointed. The burgers are juicy, the extras are plentiful and the fries are just as delicious. Menu in dining room was okay, but we did try the sushi bar (the boat for Two) was more than enough, especially with soup and salad and a drink. We celebrated my birthday and Teguh surprised me with discounts for Spa and tours. We had an obstructed view balcony. Dr E, the Cruise Director was very entertaining and the highlight of the cruise. Itinerary was changed due to Dorian. We stopped at Amber Cove. The port had a variety of stores, restaurants, activities and beaches. The people were very nice and the port offered free wifi. We look forward to returning to Amber Cove in the future. Read Less

This was a family trip with my Dad and Sister. Every bit of it was perfect. I enjoyed the serenity pool and hot tub. My room steward was very nice and prompt. The room was clean and comfortable. Best sleep I've had in a very long time. I wanted to take the mattress home. The shows were very good...we saw movies on the deck, comedy shows and variety shows. I was unable to book any excursions due to an injury prior to the cruise, but there was shopping and swimming right off the ship. I have to admit, I had all but given up on Carnival's food before this trip, but they did a fantastic job. It was definitely up to par this time. I would book on this ship again as the staff was very welcoming and attentive. The only complaint that I could muster is that the shower did not maintain temperature throughout. It would go from a little too hot to a little too cold. Read Less

I chose this cruise for convenience (location, do flight necessary, past experience). We have taken this cruise 3 other times and noticed the service going down, but still had high hopes for carnival because of our experiences with their other ships. We have traveled on the Princess and loved our trip. Some of the main points I would like others to be aware of are the new rules; they ask you when or how often you want your cabin serviced. When on a cruise I want to be pampered and freshening up my cabin should not have to be a question. One of those nights our cabin was not cleaned until 7pm. Ice in my bucket should not have to be asked for daily, but it was. Another thing you should know is that our cabin toilet leaked. The water was shooting out all over the floor. They stopped it and mopped it up, but I didn't see any bleach or extra cleaners. The ship seemed dusty and you could see a lot of dirt build up in the corners. Another of my disappointments was the dining. We asked for early seating prior to the cruise and they placed up at 8:15 dining. Who eats at 8:15 at night? We immediately went to the service desk and to the desk for dinner. The head waiter said there was nothing that he could do, he had no other seats. We would have to go to anytime dining up stairs. They knew well in advance that there were not enough seating accommodations for everyone. My question is how did they decide who got what? While we are speaking about the diner, please allow me a few minutes to talk about the service. On the first night I got something in my meal that looked like the bristle from a scrubber. I showed it to the waiter and he said, "Well, I hope you like your dinner tomorrow better." That was it, no "I'm sorry" nothing. Two days later someone at another table broke the pepper shaker. No one cleaned it up. People walked by and slipped several times. I told the waiter and one of the head staff. They continued to walk by it. The head waiter pretended to call someone on her phone but no one came. They did the staff dance while the pepper was on the floor. They serviced meals while it was on the floor. Right before we were to leave one of the head waiters came by and pushed the pile of pepper to the side with their foot. It was not cleaned up while we were there. During the morning brunch, tables were not cleaned after customers finished their meal. We sat among dirty tables that were not bused at all. This was every time we came to brunch. On the top deck the tables were not cleaned and the food areas were messy. Water was always everywhere and made it easy to slip in the dining area. Food also remained on those tables for long periods of time. The staff was not as friendly as it use to be. We were not greeted with good mornings or the likes. The Casino is completely smoking. I remember when it was non-smoking we there would be a section for the smoking people. There was no section for us. We were told the vent in the isle would pull out the smoke and the two machines by the door were none smoking. They were the old keno machines. No consideration was taken for those of us that have breathing concerns or health problems. I went to be smelling of smoke and coughing each night. This seems like reverse discrimination. The hostess told me it was because they were a small ship and that most of the other areas on the ship were none smoking. I asked her was that for the safety of the ship or its guest? Read Less

This is our 3rc trip on the Carnival Pride but 6th trip on Carnival and 8th cruise overall. We just got back and I wanted to write a review because I feel like only the people who are unhappy take the time to write the reviews. We have cruised the very large ships and did not enjoy them because we do not like making reservations to see a show etc. On the Breeze we could not get into shows or the comedy club on several nights because the theaters are not much larger than the Pride but there are twice the number of cruisers. We never had any problems getting into or hanging out between shows in the comedy club on the Pride but on the Breeze they would make us go around and stand in long lines for as much as 45 minutes to get a seat. The pool areas on the Pride although busy were not crazy crowded. You do need to go early to get a chair on the main deck (and hang out not abandoning it for hours) but if you go up to the 10th floor overlooking the pool you can get one anytime. We are up fairly early so usually got a chair to enjoy all of the pool side activities. The pool area on the Breeze was larger but the pool was the same size and there was only one pool. (the kids area was above and largely unused) There wasn't even standing room on the Breeze. I am glad that Carnival added staff to the pool area, it really controlled the kids and Chaos of jumping kids into crowded pools. The sea was rough the first couple of days. (No biggie to me and Carnival could not control that). Other than that it was beautify most days. We enjoyed the dining room and had excellent service from Diana and the rest of the team. The buffet was fine and had very edible food that people were eating in large portions so obviously most people found it to be of good quality. Guys Burger Joint was great, especially the fries. The pizza was good (especially for breakfast, I don't eat eggs). I spent a lot of time talking to so many fun people and listening to a few miserable people. I think a cruise is what you make of it, get out and meet people and participate in as many activities as you can and you will likely have fun no matter which ship you are on. The people on Pride were so friendly and fun. Grand Turk: Flow Rider with the kids was totally awesome with the pool at Margaritaville Half Moon Cay: Horseback Riding was beautiful and wonderful day handing out at the beautiful beach Freeport: Excursion to the beach was very nice (not as pretty as Half Moon Cay but we've been both islands before so no surprise) Read Less

I traveled on Carnival Pride for seven days. This was my first time cruising. I chose a cruise because I have never taking a cruise and it was my birthday trip to myself. The comedy shows and karaoke were the best thing on the ship. The ship did not offer many activities. The ship was not thoroughly cleaned as it should have been. The quality of the food was very poor. The buffet was extremely horrible. The food was very bland , overcooked and the variety was horrible. The restaurant was a little better , but not that much better. There is really not much to do on the three different Islands, if you do not plan an Excursion. Freeport was by far the worst. There was absolutely nothing to do there. My cabin was always cleaned. The staff there are truly overworked. The ship should be updated. Two days out of the 7 they woke us the guest up early by stripping the paint off the sides of the boat with very loud machines. That was extremely rude and if you want to sleep in you could not. If you wanted to use the iron and ironing board you have to literally walk half way around the ship to find it . Instead of having an iron and every cabin . Instead of offering one free portrait of when you first arrive on the ship you have to pay for everything! Be careful of all of the fees and gratuity that they charge. I advise that you check your sail card everyday, so you won't get hit with fees before you exit the ship. I will never travel on this ship ever again. For the price that we all paid, it really was not worth the money we paid. Last but not least the cruise director was absolutely fabulous. He made sure that everyone was having a good time and he put on some good shows. Read Less

We took this cruise as it was for a decent price for a balcony. Overall it met our expectations as we are previous cruisers of Carnival. The shows in the main theater were better than expected based on our experiences on other ships. I would recommend the shows to others. Their comedians were good and had plenty of selection of times to go the 9-10:15 shows were always packed. The room steward was great. The third day we got a waiter in the main dining room we liked and were able to request him the remainder of the week with our anytime dining. Note we did have to line up for anytime dining before service opened as quite a line was forming and people were always waiting for a table when we left at 7-7:30. Our server would let us know of upcoming port embarkation and debarkation times as well. The ship is older but they do a good job of keeping it clean. They are not doing a great job of upholding their dress code policies in the dining room. Elegant night ranged from nice evening gowns to tank top and shorts. If you wanted a good spot in the serenity area you had to get there early as people were saving seats with their stuff but would be gone for hours. Half Moon Cay had an amazing beach and a decent time on shore. Grand Turk and Freeport we had only 4-5 hours which makes going very far difficult. We found good snorkeling at each location though. Ship: Ready for its dry dock early! Still alot to enjoy but dont expect to not notice the issues on board. Staff is doing the best with what they are given! Cabin: 8221 - if you like a cooler room, this isn't the cabin for you. I enjoy my room to be cool in the evening and this one ran a bit too warm for me. The noise was rough for me at night. I am a VERY light sleeper though! I could hear staff all night long, above me. Had an issue with a busted pipe and no water for a few hours after returning for Half Moon Cay and that was rough. I just wanted to shower so bad. Entertainment: I was expecting Dr E, but unfortunately he was still in training. The Cruise Director was good but the Entertainment Director was amazing. I think his name was Bendy, you looked for him where ever you went. He is awesome and needs a promotion!!!!!!!!!!!! Service: Staff is wonderful as always. Its well known they are understaffed and have HORRIBLE hours but I never saw someone look miserable. First 2 days of food we're good then drastically got worse, terrible service waiting 2 hours for dinner. We rarely saw our server he served everyone else around us first. Horribly overcrowded and "free" activities you had no where to sit or had to draw raffle tickets just to participate. Lines to participate in anything most of the day was spent waiting to play ping pong avoiding the crowds was impossible There was a charge for everything so there wasn't much to do. Cups and plates were dirty, good luck finding someone to help you. Never sail carnival pride. At least the rooms were kept clean and enjoyed the towel animals they provided. The line to get off the ship was incredibly slow because they only had one immigration officer. The entire trip felt like smushed sardines that was bumped and pushed the entire time. Boyfriend's Family are repeat Carnival Customers. They love the cruise line, have a great time every year. Ship: Beautiful, Large, Ornate. Pools are a bit small and over-crowded, otherwise, nothing negative to note. Cabin: Small, Clean, Perfect. Nothing to note Dining: Food is VERY good on some nights. Not so good on others. Got to try some interesting things, loved the experience of eating in the fancy dining hall. Would definitely recommend. Entertainment and Activities: PHENOMENAL. Comedy Club was awesome- had a comedian featured on sex and the city, Vince Morris- could not have been better. Hilarious. The second two comedians, not so funny. Dancing performances were awesome! Service: These people work their asses off. And they do it with minimal thanks, in record time, while remembering every individual's name every week. Wonderful job, great service. Ports and Shore excursions: Like I mentioned in my title, do not go during hurricane season. We were re-routed from Turks and Half Moon to Charleston. HUGE disappointment. The places we did go were beautiful, and the crew did keep us safe. But it was really sad to have to miss those two stops. Did not travel with children. There were tons of them on the ship though. Definitely would go again. Read Less

Ok we knew when booking that it was hurricane season, we have been lucky for past 6 years not so for this trip. First time leaving from Baltimore port was fine however found fellow passengers overall to be loud to the point that relaxing was difficult people on deck just yelling over each other. Then at 2 am next door were having a fight one locked the other out on the balcony yelling banging called desk to complain they said they would send housekeeping??? The pride needs to be overhauled our room on the 5th floor forward 5121 extended balcony. The door was rusty had to pull to tight and lock to stop sound of wind so if one person sleeping when other wants to sit on balcony would be a big problem. The wall between our balcony and the one next door was not bolted tight so rattled. The area below the door was falling off and rust everywhere. Bathroom very dated but did know age of ship. Bed was ok not best not worst. Housekeeping was fine. Food service was poor at best they would come around at end to be friendly but multiple nights with people at table with different choices all but 1 would be cold! Now the part about hurricane they announced after muster that we would not be going to Turks or private island would be going instead to Charlston SC most were not happy about this for us we live about an hour from Charlston so was disappointing. Again understand hurricane rather be safe but 1 we were not told till after muster and they knew before then and did not let us know we had choice to disembark at that time (turns out many did. But from there things went down very poor communication about changes in activities app not updated announcement made listing everything at once and we all know what the speakers are like. So Charlston did not get off (see above). Stop two Freeport at 4 pm they did get extended time in port for "us" till 10 this served the bar at port well but just about all other things cancelled closed and really not safe at night but allowed time for ship to fuel up real reason for stop. Nassau was better than expected. Then trip back very rough seas( thought I was going to roll out of bed) captain pushed we spent last sea day in Chesapeake Bay. Final summary would not ever go on pride again Read Less

It was very well. Everyone was nice and the food was beautiful and the crew was amazing! Though, the ship was very rocky with 50MPH speed winds, I was very sick and threw up. I would give this ship a 4/5, because it is amazing but is small. I would recommend newer cruisers on this ship because it is simple instead of the carnival liberty or valor. The clubs were nice, and the water slides were entertaining and fun. The dances and entertainment in the Taj Mahal and the Butterfly lounge was amazing. I would totally go again and the ice cream is spectacular and I pretty much ate the whole machine, haha! I was in Camp Ocean when I was 11 years old, and they played fun movies, they had computers and playstations in there, and we did karaoke and scavenger hunts and more activites. Sometimes, we would get lunch and dinner in a group and eat and go to the Beautie's Nightclub. I danced my legs off, and so did my friends. I made so many friends and the pool was very warm and refreshing. I would reccomend going on this cruise and I got a break away from school too. Read Less

The entertainment staff quickly, easily, and (most importantly) happily adjusted to the constantly changing schedule. We loved the fact that there were tons of options to keep us busy or we could just relax. I have been on 6 Carnival cruises (2 on the Pride) and I still found myself trying activities I've never done before. The comedy shows were great! The dining room staff and our cabin steward were fantastic and a lot of fun! Our group of 4 had a fabulous week and successfully celebrated our friend's milestone birthday! The service we received was stellar!! From our on boarding to disembarking was a a smooth transition. We truly want to thank our room services "Greg" who made sure our cabin was clean everyday, not an easy task when traveling with two teen-agers. Greg was there every step of the way making sure that we were comfortable and our needs were met. We also want to thank our head waiter "Alfredo" wow, he truly was an exceptional waiter, meeting all of our needs.. The food came out promptly and no taking back of food the food service was excellent. The entertainment on board was also fantastic, we want to the different venues', enjoyed the shows and music at the bars as well. The excursions for snorkeling and paddle boarding was excellent, the kids enjoyed it. Thank you all at Carnival Cruise "Pride" for a wonderful time. Can't wait to book again. Read Less

This was our first cruise and we were a bit nervous but aside from being sea sick the first day at sea, we had an awesome time. Here's a breakdown: Embarkation -- Standing in line for almost two hours was a real pain but we had no real issues here. Cabin -- We got a balcony room and I can't recommend that enough! When everyone and their mother is on the lido deck, you can sit on your peaceful private balcony and watch the sunset and it is awesome. You can have room service bring your breakfast and enjoy it out there too! The decor of the cabin was surprisingly dated but the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Days at sea -- Sea sickness is no joke! I have spent a ton of time on boats without getting sick and assumed I'd be fine but boy is it different out in the open ocean! I was really happy to have backed "just in case" Dramamine. There is plenty to do to pass the time while at sea and Carnival has a great app to help you plan your day and find your way around the ship, which was very confusing at first. Grand Turk -- So convenient that you walk off the ship and are at the beach. The shops here are overpriced tourist traps but if you pass through them and walk down on the beach, you can jump right in the beautiful water. I recommend heading to the "GRAND TURK" side of the beach which was way less crowded and just as nice as the "WELCOME TO" side. You can have food and drink brought to you while you lounge in the shade under the huge palm trees, there's volleyball and a huge chess board, and a NASA exhibit. You might consider water shoes here as the sea floor is very rocky and my husband and I both cut our feet. Half Moon Cay -- For this port, you have to use a tender boat to get to the island since it is too small for a big pier. This was a bit annoying in the morning when everyone was trying to go at the same time and even with the number system, it was still super crowded. As the day goes on, less people are coming and going and it's much less stressful. The beach here is awesome, the water is super clear, you can snorkel right there in the swimming area and see cool fish, there are a ton of activities all over the island, lunch is served in a huge awesome BBQ buffet, it's very clean, and there aren't pushy local vendors as this is a cruiseline-owned island. Freeport -- Honestly, I would have rather skipped this stop all together and just headed home early. It's just a small strip mall in a shipping port full of pushy vendors selling the same ticky tacky crap (but at least the prices are relatively cheap aside from the random Harley Davidson store). To go and do anything beachy requires an expensive excursion or taking a taxi 20+ mins. We weren't feeling this and hung out mostly on the ship this day as it was a short stop and we got a chance to do the things that were normally too crowded (e.g., mini golf, basketball, hot tubbing, the water slides). Food -- There are so many options for eating, it's crazy. The first night we went to the official dinner restaurant where you go at your assigned time. It was beautiful and the food was great but it literally took two hours for two people so we never went there again. The quality of the food at the buffets was just as good and allowed you to try all kinds of foods. My husband and I are both vegetarian and we always found plenty of yummy veg-friendly foods. There are a couple of restaurants where you can pay for fancier food but we never tried those as the buffets are included and are very good. Casino -- I was really disappointed by this. Firstly because you can smoke in there which is a HUGE turn-off. I was shocked that there wasn't at least a non-smoking section. I'm not a hardcore gambler, I just like to play the slots, and the odds are stacked so hard against you that it's not even fun. At a normal casino you can sit and play for 20-30 mins with a $20 and you'll go up and lose some and have fun. These machines suck your money away without any bonus rounds and the fun is over in like 2 minutes. My husband is into roulette and cards and also didn't enjoy his time, though I can't explain why because those games make no sense to me. :) Comedy club and stage shows -- We really wanted to go to a comedy show and tried FIVE TIMES and every time there was literally not a seat left it was so packed. So I guess that means they're good? If you can get in the door. The stage shows (by Playlist Productions) were surprisingly good with an impressive theatre (the Taj Mahal) with high tech audio visual and stage effects. The singers were often off-key and over-sang everything to death but it was still a good time. Tipping -- Having never been on a cruise, we had no idea we were going to be charged $180 for gratuity at the end of the trip and had been tipping in cash. That was really aggravating so be sure to understand your cruise's tipping protocol beforehand! Read Less

I have sailed 2 times on the Carnival Pride and have had a wonderful time both sails. I am from the area, I live 8 minutes form the Port. Its a very safe and secure area.....with the media always saying Baltimore is so violent & dangerous. Just like any other urban area you will have more crime! There is a Police Station just around the corner from the Port, you can believe the area is well under control. If you decide to come to Baltimore for a cruise, be sure to check out our Inner Harbor and Fells Point, many great restaurants, plenty of shopping, beautiful waterfront and many things to do! The Pride was very clean, the staterooms are very nice, I always book a balcony statement no lower than the 6 Deck. Food is excellent, the staff are very helpful. My husband and I stateroom attendant Domingo was above exceptional, he went above and beyond to see that we had everything we needed. The entertainment was GREAT. There are plenty of activities to do while sailing. We enjoyed all Ports of call, excursions offered were nice, I would like to see more places of choices to do excursions in the future. I previously sailed with the Pride 10/2010. My experience was superb as well on that cruise. I do plan to do more cruises in the near future with the Carnival Pride. Read Less
