We were signed up to go the the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos, but we were re-routed to Saint John, NB and Halifax, NS due to Hurricane Matthew. I was very pleased with how Carnival handled re-routing us: we were given a couple days' notice and the opportunity to cancel without penalty, or we could come along on the new itinerary and get $100 pp on-board credit and 25% off our next cruise. I thought that was pretty generous! Apparently a good number of people canceled, because the boat was only ~2/3 or 3/4 full, even though it was sold out the week before! The people who came along seemed to be interested in making the most of it, and we found other passengers to be quite friendly! I can't say enough wonderful things about the staff. Everyone went above and beyond to remember our names and preferences (ahem, drink orders). The staff was all very friendly, and they clearly worked REALLY hard--it was impossible to walk around without seeing someone cleaning something somewhere. As far as food goes, the buffet on Lido was fine, but nothing to write home about. Burgers at Guy's were delicious. My favorite discovery of the cruise was to get the fries at Guy's with a scoop of chili on them, then walk over to the Blue Iguana to top them with salsa, cheese, etc. Yum! Main dining room food was quite tasty at dinner. For brunch, it would be great if they could rotate the menu a bit or include a daily special. I liked the food better there than the buffet, but it got repetitive. We also occasionally had issues with the food arriving in the MDR cold. We did the Chef's Table, as well, and we LOVED that! The food was great, and the wine was plentiful. The Pride is a smaller ship, and there was not a lot to do on-board during the day. This became super apparent when we had finished exploring the boat by mid-afternoon on our first day at sea, and we still had 3 more days at sea to go on a 7-night cruise. Because of the change in destination, it was chilly, so we couldn't really enjoy the pools or lay out sunbathing, and the enclosed area of the Lido deck was obnoxiously loud, so we couldn't partake in the activities up there (side note: just turn the volume down a little on the stereo system, and it will be a usable area!). As we don't gamble, that pretty much left exploring every bar and trying every drink on their menus. We were VERY glad we bought the Cheers package, but we still ended up doing a lot of reading and napping...not how I had hoped to spend the cruise. I expect there would be more to do during the day on larger ships and/or on warmer itineraries. I suspect I would also do better on an itinerary with more port stops! For ports, I can't say much about Saint John, as we visited my husband's family while there. Halifax, we walked around, rather than do an excursion. Citadel Hill was very interesting, and we enjoyed the Halifax Distillery and the microbrewery that is right by the port. There were buses that would take you from inside the port (controlled area) to a nearby shopping area. Embarkation went smoothly--there was a long line to check in, but it moved pretty quickly. We checked in around 2 pm and were on the boat by 3, and our room was ready right away. For disembarkation, we decided to do the self-carry option to try to get off the ship a little earlier, and that was a mistake. They did all the self-carry decks except for ours, and then started doing the checked luggage decks, so we had to wait for those people. Since we had a pretty high checked luggage number, we would have been off at about the same time, had we done that, without having to lug around all our stuff. We'll probably aim for a lower deck next time, to be able to disembark earlier in the self-carry process. Read Less
