I was here for my sisters wedding. They press you to be on time and if your late they have an attitude but its okay for them to be late. Which they was late for everything. The wedding kept getting pushed back so even the bride and groom didn't know the time they was getting married. Then they set the time for 3:00 pm and the people didn't show up til 4. House keeping was no where to be found. The 1st night dude came by and dropped off his card and said for me to give him a call any time I needed something and he never answered the phone. I had to stand in the long line at customer service for them to call him just to get what I needed the whole cruise. Also the dinner staff was not friendly like I have experienced on other cruises. The staff is not very knowledgeable you can ask all of them the same question and they will give you different answers which is sad due to them being on the same boat for 6 months at a time! All their activities was closed most the time. My son is 13 and was looking forward to the teens club which only opened for 2 hours 1 day out of the 4 days we was on the ship. The basketball court didn't open til 12 am then of course it was adults. This was the worst ship I've ever been on. Then to top it off they charged me for a changed I didn't make! Read Less

We chose this cruise because we wanted to simply have a party at sea. Because of tropical storm Barry, we were bused 2 1/2 hours away to another port. We ended up leaving out of Mobile Alabama, four hours late. As soon as we hit the open ocean, the seas were so rough, they had to drain the pools. The entire first day at sea, activities were cancelled, most of the passengers were stuck in there rooms throwing up, then the smell..... The stench of sewage would overcome us, to the point that we didn't want to eat or drink anything. The smell only got worse as the days went by. We couldn't get away from it, even inside our cabin. Because they run on such a tight schedule, the captain decided to go straight through the storm, rather than around it. We still ended up late, getting to Cozumel. Our shore excursions were cut short because of the time constraint, then... back on the stinky ship and head back into rough waters. We never had a nice dinner, for a couple reasons. The first night, they cancelled. The rest of the time, we were too seasick to do anything. Through all of this, we were never compensated for anything. Knowing how rough it was, at sea, It's my opinion that Carnival should have given us the option to reschedule, or cancel, altogether. At the very least, compensate us for the inconvenience of having to take an uncomfortable bus ride for over 2 hours. Nope, nothing.... Still had to pay $88 to park for 4 days. I will never cruise with Carnival again. Worst vacation of my life. Total waste of money. I didn't even get into the condition of the ship. run down, old and dirty. Read Less

This was hands down the worst cruise I’ve ever been on. The food was terrible, especially in the main dining room and service was very slow. We went to the at sea brunch one day and sat there for over 30 minutes before anyone even brought water to our table. I got food poisoning from dinner at the main dining room and was out for a whole day because of it. The only highlight in the food department is the Guys Burger Joint. The drink department was very good. The bartenders were always very nice and the drinks were made with name brand liquor. The Alchemy Bar was incredible and we would go there every night. My only complaint about the drinks is that after every order you get a $0.00 (unless your in the Mississippi River where you have to pay extra tax) receipt that you have to sign even if you have the drink package. I am a very good tipper and don’t mind tipping at all, but I felt like having to sign was basically like begging for extra tips. The entertainment on the ship was a joke. We walked out of a show because it was so bad. The casino was a huge letdown. The port of Progresso was the sketchiest port I’ve ever been to. I’m honestly surprised Carnival would take the liability of dropping off passengers there. Overall, pick literally any other cruise to go on. Going into the cruise, I knew it was Carnvial so my expectations weren’t high, but they managed to not even meet my very low expectations. Read Less

My daughter and some of her high school friends wanted to go on a senior trip so a cruise on Carnival Valor was chosen. I wasn’t excited about the choice but obliged. The cruise port in New Orleans is a nightmare. If you cruise with Carnival you are herded like cattle on and off the ship. We were supposed to board the ship at 12:30. We arrived at 11:30 and it took over an hour to board. Once on the ship we couldn’t access our room until 1:30. If you bought the cheers package and didn’t have a credit card attached to your account you couldn’t use your drink package the entire first day because, being on the Mississippi River, they needed to charge tax on drinks and had no way to charge so they wouldn’t serve you and were very rude about it...so essentially 51.00 lost the first day. The ship is old and very dated. The toilet in my room looked like it was never cleaned. It had a black mildew ring in the bowl my entire trip. The curtains in my room looked like they had cigarette burn holes in them. The sofa was dirty and worn. There is only one outlet in each cabin which makes it very difficult to get ready, charge your cell phone, use hairdryers or flat irons... The casino with live entertainment was located directly below my cabin. I had to call and complain about how loud it was nearly every night. I’m ready to sleep by 11:30 and when I can hear a song being played so clearly that I can sing the words it is entirely too loud. We ate in the main dining room two nights and the food was less than average. I had the lasagna one night and it was a square of ground beef with cheese on top. The second night I ordered the Mahi Mahi and it tased like starkist tuna. It was awful. And the desserts were equally as bad. The only entertainment we enjoyed were the comedians. The adult show was for ages 18 and above. My daughter and another boy on the trip were kicked out of the show by Casey from Canada because they were under 18. My daughter will be 18 in a month and I was also with her but Casey from Canada would not let her stay regardless of the fact that the entire rest of her classmates were in the Punchliner lounge. I think if a parent is with their child and they are fine with their child staying with the group then Casey from Canada should have left well enough alone. She even came back over to me during the show and told me my daughter was going to have to leave. Mind you she had already dicked my daughter out but she thought one of her classmates was my daughter and had snuck back in. She was hassling me to the point of not being able to enjoy the show. Casey from Canada was a total thumbs down. Service on this cruise was less than expected. Our room was only serviced once a day in the morning and they never came back to refresh your towels or linens. I had to catch a service cart in the hallway many nights just to get extra towels. I never once saw my cabin steward. The bar staff was rude or had no personality. So many times at the guest services desk they would only have one person working and a line a mile long waiting for help. They automatically charge gratuities to your sail and sign card and if you want them taken off you must stand in the very long line at guest services. Ports left a lot to be desired. Cozumel was fun and all the kids had a great time. We opted for the catamaran cruise beginning at 12:30 which included snorkeling and water toys. The lunch on the island was average and expensive. Progresso is a joke. I have no idea why they choose this place as a port of call. There is absolutely nothing there. Total waste of a day. I just returned from a Norwegian cruise in March and Carnival could definitely learn some pointers from them. I have also cruised on Disney and RCCL several times. Norwegian Bliss was an amazing ship and a wonderful experience. No headaches, long lines, rude staff and you felt like you mattered to them. They worked to take care of their guests and create an experience that would make them want to return. Carnival Valor was definitely the worst cruise I have ever been on and that sealed the deal for me. I will NEVER cruise Carnival again. RCCL and Norwegian will get my business. Read Less

We have cruised over 10 times - Alaska, Caribbean, Mexico and Europe - on several cruise lines with our preference being Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. We’ve sailed with Carnival two times in the past and they were passable but not great. We sailed carnival dream out of New Orleans on March 17 and it was the worst cruise experience we’ve ever had. If this had been our first cruise, it would be our last. Luckily, we know this cruise experience wasn’t typical of other cruise lines. We had the poorest service we’ve ever seen on a cruise. The food was fine and our service staff was nice, but service was disorganized - sometimes not bringing our complete order. It seems like the service staff had too many tables to give the service we’ve always had on prior cruises. The majority of the ship’s staff was downright rude - especially the shore excursion desk. Their anyswer to any question was “I don’t know.” Dinner was disorganized, and no lunch served in the main dining room, which meant everyone was on the Lido during lunchtime making it a complete zoo. The shows, games etc were held in rooms so small that unless you arrived an hour early you couldn’t get a seat. The ship needs a lot of care. Rust and chipped paint everywhere you looked. Needless to say, I would NEVER recommend Carnival to anyone and will never use this cruiseline again. Read Less

Our Nightmare Started with prepaid parking (from their site's link) in NOLA, paid 2 month's in advance. Got to NOLA, 3.10.19 - major traffic issue, got to parking lot @ 901 Convention Center Blvd only to be met by NOLA PO told us, NO can NOT PARK, IF we prepaid - lot was closed. 4.5 HOURS later, less than 1.5 miles away & following others in same Boat, then having to pay for parking @ $140 AGAIN, were we able to finally board. Anxiety-Panic Attack, and seemed to never end, unless we got off ship. Drunks in pools with minor kids, 2nd day, drunk drew up in LIDO DECK pool with kids in it, had to drain pool. Oh Well, stay far away from that insanity, that Carnival Promotes Whole Heartedly! While I was able to find the BEST spot for Adults - 15th Deck up on Serenity Lounge Deck- total cruise enjoyment, but warning must walk through Cloud 9 SPA on 12th to get there. Sell, Sell,SELL, SELL, If interested, Great, other than that just keep walking & No thanks. First Cruise, we made multiple calls in advance to ask lots of questions and was mislead every step of the way. Purchased insurance in case needed to be seen by Dr or had to cancel. Very sick, upper respitory from sinus & so many chemicals used in elevators to keep us all smelling great, BUT still had to pay up front to see Dr. They were very nice, but still was very sick. No clue what the pills were, but didn't help had to seek ER after returning home. Now have to argue with the folks that we purchased this Gimmick Inusrance Policy with AFTER the fact & who knows if they will reimburse me? Will NEVER SET FOOT ON ANOTHER CRUISE SHIP during Spring Break, unless I want to be around so many unattended minors & drunks. It made for a bad 1st cruise experience on top of being physically sick. A++ to ALL employees who work on the ship, I can not safe enough positive things about them. They salvaged our entire trip with their Professional Kindness & knowledge of true Customer Service (we are not demanding guests), but we truly appreciated the Room Service as I was too sick on a few days to get out of our Cabin on 8th floor. Great news as well, always pay extra and get a balcony, worth every penny we spent! In front of ship, far away from the Crazy drunks & unattended minors. Plz ask lots of ?s about how many minors, don't be dumb like we were & not understand when peak season is for Spring Break Crazy, with or without families. Too many parents were drinking and when I asked one couple up on Serenity Deck where were their 6 minor kids, answer was, we don't know & kept on drinking. A cruise ship is not your babysitters folks. Try to be responsible and teach your children manners. I saw the Best & the Worst on board, from the begining it was very sad to know how much money we had spent for the Nightmare to start before we even boarded. They only offered me a cheap bottle of wine to attempt to make us feel better for 4.5 hours of HELL out on the street. Trust me, when we got off this ship Sunday at 7am, no one was allowed to push or break in line. We were greeted by the best parking vendors in NOLA with smiles, put on shuttles & taken immediately to our car, where we gladly left. Any wonder we aren't so well loved over the globe. The employees on the ships deserve 100% Respect and are not there to treated less than any guest! I loved the shows, shore excursions and will never pre-pay to park again. Read Less

Booked a first cruise for my sister and nephew after having wonderful experiences on another cruise line. Instead of staying with RC decided to do Carnival as it is booked as the "fun" ship. Sailed on the Triumph out of New Orleans. NOW! 1) What's fun about being herded through the terminal like cattle and having custom agents yell at you because you aren't moving at their pace not to mention NOT getting any help from Carnival cruise associates? 2.) What's "fun" about having to locate lost luggage because someone decided they will remove YOUR tag and place it on someone else's. 3.) What's "fun" about elevators NOT working 80% of the time and having to drag your now found luggage up and down flights of stairs? A scene being played out by the elderly too! 4.) What's "fun" finding out this will be the last cruise for the Triumph, soooo, guess what? Limited crew members with short fuses, quality of food declines or is repeated most meals, other dining options are on short hours. 5.) What's "fun" having the contractors who will work on the Triumph board the boat and start work at midnight! NO SLEEP 6.) What's "fun" on day of leaving the ship again without any assistance or working elevators meaning you are now repeating #3 but with LOTS of confusion on directions from the FEW crew members that are standing around "waiting" to help the "contractors" working on the ship. Excuse me, didn't the guests just pay for the cruise and your paycheck???? 7.) Repeat #1 8.) Call Carnival about concerns and they have the "fun" idea of giving me and my party of 4 a $50.00 on board credit for our next "fun" cruise. $50.00 for the whole 4 of us, not for each one of us. Are you kidding me! I'm going back to RC. At least they KNOW how to treat customers. 9.) Wish I would have listened to past cruisers who have used Carnival and warned me. Lesson hard learned! We chose this cruise because we have taken several cruises (everyone with Carnival but one) and this was a different itinerary than we had ever taken. 1. The ship was pretty boring and was like staying at a 2 star hotel with nothing to really do and nowhere to go. 2. There was 6 of us in 2 balcony rooms located on floor 11/Verandah. We can't complain about the young man that tended to our rooms. 3.Buffet food was as good and sometimes better than the dinning room food even when we paid the extra $20 per person one night for a few of us. Sometimes you only got an appetizer OR salad, a plate of meat with no choice of a side but it did come with one finger length potato cut in half the size of a thin (I am 5'2 and at my largest of 155lbs except when I was pregnant) persons pinky, and some nights they weren't even serving dessert. When I leave hungry and normally only eat once a day THERE is a problem. I am not a picky gal when it comes to food. 4. If you are 41 years old and go to bed EVERY single night right after your 6:30 early dinner something is wrong. 5. If you are 41 years old and the best activity on board for you were the slides and drinking there is something wrong. 6. When the oldest person in your group is 42 and the youngest person is 15 and all of you sleep 10-15 hours daily that says this is so horrible that I should just rest up for the drive back home to face every day life. Man every day life is more fun than this vacation was. WHO EVER SAYS THAT? WE DID AND STILL DO. 7. Service was fine and I do feel like many employees were new but that is expected and didn't bother us one bit. 8. I knew that one port had a beach you didn't have to travel to but had to buy food/drinks which was fine. We can't complain about that port. 9. I spoke with employees etc. and decided not to book excursions because I was told the ports had accessible beaches within walking distance and that at one of the ports Carnival would serve lunch/drinks just the same as if you were on the ship. This is also how it use to be but not now. 10. The thermostat didn't work in our room but I refused to complain just like always. 11. The gym doesn't accommodate very many people considering how many people are on the ship. 12. Because it was so boring everyone just wanted to grab a lounge chair and there was never enough. ***** We have been loyal customers for years and have been on several cruises with Carnival with this being the FIRST time we have complained***** I can't help but to be mad over paying $10,000-$12,000 for a vacation that I could have paid half the price for and had good food and more fun. NOTE: I didn't question this because this was a normal thing in our past cruises with Carnival. THIS WAS NOT TRUE so needless to say after all the crap WE NEVER SAW A SINGLE BEACH IN BELIZE OR COZUMEL... Now we had been on a Carnival cruise to Cozumel and the beach was in walking distance and was right off the ship. I think they changed sides to dock on probably just to make more money.. $30 plus a person? Cabs don't cost that much. *****I suggest staying away unless you want to stay in the cheapest cabin, your goal is to only eat buffet food, drink, and sleep.***** Read Less

The only nice thing about our cruis was our housekeeper Fandy he was great. We booked this back in April or May for our honeymoon. We ended up getting two twin beds.... there was a constant loud buzz/hissing sound outside our room we could here 24/7. The spa double charged us. Each night for our dinners the service was horrible. They never brought my wife’s wine one night, we had a hard time getting our water glasses re-filled, and the food was either wrong when they brought it, and each night we ended up having to go get pizza or something to eat. This was just a few of our problems we encountered on our honeymoon trip on the dream. We are both positive happy people so we roughed it through, but I would NOT recommend this boat due to poor service and problems. Twin beds on a honeymoon :( Read Less

My internet package I paid $60 for rarely worked. I was charged for a drink my friend ordered. Our cabin steward was awesome though. Props to Rudi. Very disappointing experience. We weren’t offered any type of compensation for the problems we had. The entertainment was good. I think there should have been more of a selection with the food. Most of the crew was nice. We did have a problem with one waiter but that was it. The pictures were way overpriced. $22 for one 8x10. It was a very disappointing trip. I expected more than what I got for my money. $70 gratuity for a three year old kid was excessive. Not enough English speaking people on board. After a 3 hour delay the boarding process was horrible we were hurded like cattle with little to no direction. 5 min after boarding the ship you are mustered on lockdown in a dinning hall then it’s a free for all to get to the elevators or move 12 decks back to your room. When I say the ship was overcrowded you could not move about with out being up in someone’s business. It took almost an hour to get settled in not fun at all. The schedule your dinner meal in an overcrowded restaurant and expect you to eat at odd late times. This is designed to force you to buy food. The whole time they are pushing you to buy crap it’s loke a 7 day locked down time share convention with boose total waste of money. We chose this cruise because we sailed on the Triumph in January and had an amazing time. This time however was the worst service imaginable. Purchased faster to the fun only to sit in a waiting area for over an hour at our scheduled boarding time. Cabin was on the 7th floor port side, didn’t know that the starboard side was being remodeled and shut down. Lots of noise on the deck. Our room steward left dirty dishes in the cabin for days on end, I ended up washing them in the bathroom sink before she took them. Dropped an earpod and of corse it goes under the bed. I moved the bed only to fine a pair of underwear that was not ours. This happened on Tuesday. I notified our cabin steward and on Saturday when we were getting off the ship, the underwear was still under the bed. Was not allowed to purchase a drink in the casino bar because I had the drinks on us card from the casino. The problem was, that I had been in the casino for over an hour and hadn’t seen a server. The bartender told me that I couldn’t purchase a drink, I had to wait for a server. They never did show up. We had anytime dining, waited for about an hour before our appetizers were brought to the table on 2 separate occasions. Spoke to guest services, Matre D and Casino host about the service or lack there of, none of which seemed concerned. Were turned away from the dining room at 6:30 on our final night of the cruise because they were apparently shutting the main dining room down, imagine the lines at the buffet when that happens. I would be hard pressed to sail carnival again. We spent $4000 onboard the ship and were treated like vagrants begging for scraps. Read Less

excursion was the only thing satisfying! Carnival Triumph was a disappointment due to poor customer service!!!!!!!!!! Restoration during a cruise is a bad idea. Customers were limited to service due to this!! At one point no elevators were available due to this only stairway travel. Elevator limits due to contractors and poor service at dinner time. Toting a stroller and a few bags down 8 flights of stairs is not cool due to elevator limits. We were delayed too long for early boarding after purchasing faster service. Most of the employees on the ship could not speak good english which when you asked something they looked at you like they were lost. Our first cruise as a family and it was disappointing. My phone was stolen at a carnival owned port and all they could tell me was it was my loss. I told them it was at a port that yal own and they still gave no re assurance. Read Less

This cruise was chosen for me. I called in to customer service and spoke with one of Carnival’s customer service to help book since this would be my very first time cruising, it was my boyfriends birthday, and both of our children left for college, so we were celebrating a little bit of freedom and relaxation. I first asked that I not be placed on the bottom deck. I wasn’t sure how the decks were designed but I knew I didn’t want to be on bottom deck due to a recent video I saw on fb about flooding. I was promised all these things as far as his birthday celebration once we on the ship. Low and behold once we arrived on the ship and got checked in we were in first floor. Cabin was hot air not working and service suck! Always had to stand in long line for at least an hour for guest services. Called for help 3 times with a problem on ship and the staff members would call guest services each time they said they were sending someone up and after 3 hours I walked down to desk myself and they act like they had no clue what I was talking about until I asked them to call the staff member that gave me his name and Department he worked in. Once he came down and confirmed he had spoke to them about my problem and who he spoke with all I was offered was a “sorry” purchased pictures and a gift card that had given me, the percentage was not taken off. For a first time cruiser I was completely dissatisfied and asked for refund or compensation and they told me I would get credit on board my next ship. Sad reaction from a company. This was my 5th cruise. My 3rd with Carnival and it was absolutely horrible. It has been 4 years since my last cruise and this experience has left me with never wanting to take my vacation on a cruise. Embarkation has significantly improved and moved very quick. We boarded the ship about 12:20 and were not able to get to our rooms until 1:30, which meant we had to pack the luggage we did not give the porters. My overall experience would be a 1 or a zero. The food was absolutely horrible. It was like getting days old Golden Coral Food or worse. I had to buy bottled water, as the water on the ship had a nasty after taste. The tea was gross and the lemonade too sweet. The decent restaurants were only opened from 12:00 to 2:30. Guys Burgers was open from 12:00 to 6:00. After eating burgers a few times it does get old. If you like the disgusting pizza it was open 24 hours. If you are hungry after 10:00 p.m. be prepared to pay for food. We did eat at the Chef's table which is extra. If you want burned crab cake that was not only burned but frozen burned this is the place to go. I have eaten at many fine steak houses, and again this was a disappointment to me. On-board activities are expensive and a money pit. My husband and I booked to have a massage which was amazing except the ladies pressure you to buy all these products, and try to tell me it would help my bags under my eyes, nose, etc. when I know I need to have a sinus surgery to alleviate allergy issues. It was like I had to tell them "what do you not understand about the word NO". Entertainment was great the first two nights, but it is basically the same throughout the entire cruise. It gets boring after watching basically the same thing. The comedy entertainment was degrading to women. I can not believe Carnival Dream has a woman comedian that can joke about women in such a degrading, pornographic manner. Half the people left during her skit. The comedy shows are only 30 minutes and you have to get their so early in order to have a seat. Nevertheless, after we attended that comedy show, my husband and I did not go back. Again, it was outright disgusting. The cleanliness of the ship was not there. Room service has been cut to once a day. We had to rip off the sheets from the bed after the 3rd night in order to get clean sheets. I know some of you might not wash your sheets, but I am the kind of person that washes mine frequently. It is especially necessary after you spend all cabin time laying around on bed. Our entire floor smelled like DODO... POO POO no lie, straight up sewer, and then walk into a balcony cabin that is no less than 78 degrees. I don't know about you, but I keep my temperature at 72, needless to say I could not sleep because it was so stinking hot. There were blue soap debris left all over the shower from previous passenger and our bed had a definite swag in the center. Food plates were never removed, if you want them out of your cabin you have to set the dishes outside the door. The ship design is not vacation friendly. The elevators do not take you to necessary areas. You have to walk all over the place to get to the place you want. There were so many people that average wait time for elevator was 7 to 10 min. Who wants to spend all their time waiting for an elevator. Montego Bay was fun. The Dolphin excursion was amazing, but we spent over an hour waiting for the excursion when we got to ship terminal. It was well worth it, but again when on vacation who wants to spend their time in a long hot line. When we got to the beach, we were harassed not less than 10 times if we wanted to buy mojo. In Georgetown we took the submarine excursion. It was over priced for the fact that you basically just go in circles around the same reef. The costs for that should be no more than $50 but of course that is not the case. In Cozumel we took the excursion to the Mayan Ruins. Absolutely loved the ruins but we were only given an hour and a half once the tour was complete. (Tour consisted of waiting for everyone to go to the bathroom, walking one mile to the ruins, and a 15 min. quick breakdown of the ruins) There is a 45 min ferry ride and another 45 min. bus ride one way. The majority of the time is spent traveling so we did not get to enjoy and explore for being rushed. Like I stated this was my 5th cruise and likely my last! I definitely will never cruise Carnival and this was my third with them. Pity to have spent my hard earned vacation money on this trip. Read Less

This cruise was for our summer family vacation. We picked this particular cruise because of the dates and supposed to be all exclusive. Every year we take a family vacation, we never been on a cruise ship before. I heard a lot of positive feedback from my co workers. Thought it would be a great idea. Boarding the ship was fine, and was happy that our room was ready. As soon as we got to our room I was utterly disappointed, I have a family of five. This room was not even bigger than a closet. I really wanted to cry. I did not know that a stateroom would be this small. I took a deep breath and remained calm because of my children. Ten minutes after being in the (box) the intercom system came on and stated we need to proceed to the lower level for emergency training. This particular cruise line had us bunched up together with roughly 50 to 60 people. I could not breathe my husband was sweating profusely, my 2 yr old son instantly started running a fever. My husband told one of the staff workers that our child is not feeling well, the staff worker rolled his eyes as if my husband was lying. Eventually he let my husband exit. I tried to follow my husband and the staff worker immediately stopped me . Needless to say my husband traded places with me and handed me our sick child and he stayed. After being in the room with my sick child my husband decided to seek medical treatment. He was hung up on by the front desk. Luckily, I packed medicine and a thermometer to treat my child. This was a Thursday, by Friday afternoon my son was feeling better. We decided to go book activities for when we arrive in Cozumel, Mexico on Saturday. Saturday came and it was raining. We decided to go to the activity we payed $265.00 . In addition we had to pay 3.00 for a raincoat. So we caught a cab to the venue. When we arrived the workers was surprised we came. The staff stated that this is there rainy season and the activities paid we could not do. They were very nice we did stay there and ate the buffet we pay for and caught the cab back to the ship. Again, me and my husband was very furious. We didn't want to ruin our kids vacation by complaining. Let's just say the most positive journey about the cruise was there are plenty of activities to choose from. We made it back on Monday morning, woke up to a bill in our room, lol. Carnival cruise ship had the audacity to charge each of us 51.00 for gratuity, even the 2 yr old. I'm just too outdone we was treated like crap. Hung up on , paid for snorkeling and other related water activities that was impossible to perform and carnival cruise had knowledge of this information before hand. I never in my life been through such an ordeal. How can you even call this an all inclusive trip??? You charge for bottled water!!! We typically go to resorts every summer that are all inclusive and when they state all inclusive it's All INCLUSIVE!! What a RIP OFF. I work so hard every year and this is what I get. I recommend if anyone read this , Please save your money!!!! Choose a different cruise line cause this is the worst customer service of my LIFE. Never Again, never EVER. Read Less

We chose to go on this cruise because our entire family went... however... this is hands down the worst cruise I've ever been on. It started out with very slow and rude service at dinner... day 2, my husband got food poison and was not Allowed to leave the room for 24 hours.... day 3, noticed out of the entire time, our room was never cleaned... not even one time... day 4, a pipe burst and flooded deck 9 and we were about 7-8 doors away from the worst of it.... no sleep for the next two days bc of vacuum cleaners running 24/7 and a terrible mildew smell... we spoke with customer service and they said there was nothing they could do.... called carnival after we got home and again worst customer service imaginable... it was literally the worst cruise ever and I have been on plenty... carnival just didn't care about their customers and the flooding was very trautmatic. I'll never cruise with carnival ever again! Read Less

Let me start by saying that this was my 8th cruise total and 7th with Carnival. It was my 3rd on the Triumph. I absolutely loved the Triumph up until this cruise. I left the Port this past Thursday morning with a completely different outlook on Carnival and the Triumph. Now, on to the cruise. I booked the cruise as a surprise birthday present for my girlfriend who had never cruised before. It ended up not being a surprise as I had to make sure that the dates would be ok and that she would be able to get off work. I initially booked an interior cabin back in December. In January, I called and upgraded us to a balcony as balconies are all that I have ever sailed in. I booked a balcony on the 6th floor, port side. In February, I decided to call back and check the availability of an aft balcony because I had always wanted to stay in one and I had received a fairly decent casino promotion. I ended up upgrading to an aft balcony on the 8th floor, room 8434 to be exact. The cruise was paid in full and all we had to do was wait until our sail date. Once our sail date arrived, we left home here in Northeast Arkansas around 0330 on embarkation day. We live around 7 hours from the port. It rained the entire way to NOLA and we arrived around 1130. I had selected the 1300-1330 time slot for check-in so we had some time to spare. We went to Wal Mart to pick up some last minute odds and ends and tried to grab a bite to eat and some swanky joint not far from the Wal MArt but there was a 2 hour wait. We opted to just drive to the port and find a spot in the parking garage and take a nap until our boarding time. When our time came, we rolled our bags all through the zig zag line in the terminal (which I don't understand why they couldn't just remove the little belt and let you walk straight through) and to the security line. We made it through security very quickly and then we had to walk through all the zig zag lines to get to the desk where we got our sign and sail cards. After a couple minute wait, we had our cards and were walking up the gangway to the ship. We were onboard within 10 minutes of entering the terminal. NEVER again will I check in before 1300! I did notice that every Carnival worker that I encountered throughout the terminal other than the woman who issued our sign and sail cards and the older security woman who scanned them just as we entered the gangway acted as if they hated their jobs. I don't think I've ever seen any more sour folks in all my life. If you hate your job that much people by all means quit and find a new one. We made it onto the ship and headed directly to our room. It was a long trek to the rear of the ship but it was definitely worth the trip. Our cabin (8434) was amazing! The larger balcony was so nice and we had some pretty cool neighbors on both sides. Our room steward, on the other hand, sucked majorly. He came by right after we had gotten to our room and discussed the times for room cleaning and the turn back service and I asked for the room to be tidied up twice a day. He asked if there was anything else that we needed and I asked for a bucket of ice for our drinks and another beach towel as there was only one left in our room and he said that he would bring us one while we were at dinner and that they were short on towels but he would bring us some when they were cleaned. Needless to say, he never brought the ice bucket or towel and we didn't see him for two more days. We had anytime dining and were assigned to the London Dining Room and that is where we ate dinner all 5 nights. The first night the food was great but the service was terrible. The second night we sat at table 225 and Maruta, Sumantri and Rambat were phenomenal. We asked to be sat in their section for the remainder of our trip and they obliged. We at lunch most days at Guy's Burgers and it was excellent. We ate the seaday brunch on both sea days and then we ate at the Lido buffet the other mornings. Brunch was great but the buffet was mediocre, at best. In Cozumel, we went to Mr. Sancho's. I had been there several times in the past and loved it. When we arrived this time, I noticed that they had added another pool with another swim up bar and the service there seemed to suck as our waiter only came to our little hut about 4 or 5 times. I gave him a $10 dollar bill as soon as he sat us down with hopes that he would take care of us but that logic backfired on me. We decided around 1400 to head back to the shopping area and then head back to the ship. The next day in Progreso, we just slept in and got off the boat around 0930 and visited the shopping area before stopping at the bar and pool there just as you get off the boat. We spent all day there. We drank beer all day for about half of what Mr. Sancho's cost us the day before. We bought some useless Mexican souvenirs and stumbled our butts back to the boat. We spent quite a bit of time in the casino playing table games. Dai Duong or "DD" as he asked to be called was awesome. He kept us laughing and was full of energy. If Carnival hired more folks like him, they'd be in good shape! We didn't drink anything from any of the bars and we didn't go to the spa or any of that mess. We did attend the magic show put on by Mark Bennick and I will say that even though that is the third time I had seen him, I still loved it! We also went to their production shows and they have went way downhill since my first Carnival Cruise in 2012. The seas were horrible the first three days. There were folks getting sick from all of the rocking everywhere. The ship seemed to be in about the same shape as when I was on it in April of last year but the majority of the crew acted as if they hated their jobs. I guess if I was stuck working on a boat around folks who were on vacation everyday for less than minimum wage I'd hate my job too. Aside from our waitstaff and the one card dealer most of the folks we saw were all sour acting and didn't smile and greet you by name like they have in the past. The cruise director, Jess was so-so, but those bows she wears have got to go. Disembarkation was fairly simple once we got out from behind the slow folks who couldn't find their citizenship documents and identification. I mean who packs that stuff away and don't carry it with them on get off day? Maybe I just have a low tolerance for idiots? Either way, they need to get with the program. Once off the boat, we made our way through all the stupid zig zag lines, out the door, around the corner and back in the door to Customs. That was the fastest I've ever been through Customs. The chick looked at my passport and said "be safe going home" and motioned me on through. We didn't even have to do any declaration forms. We waited for a couple of minutes for an elevator to take us to the parking garage and we were out. That's a brief rundown of my experience. Now here is MY opinion on the experience. IT SUCKED! It was nothing like my first several. Maybe I'm becoming intolerant in my old age but it makes me fuming mad to go on vacation to relax and have to listen to screaming and crying children. Like little bity tiny babies. Why in the world would you bring a child that small on a cruise? They will not remember it and will be more of a bother to you than what it's worth. Have some respect for the other 2499 people on the boat and leave the brats at home. and if you insist on bringing a child that is old enough to walk and talk, please for the love of everything holy, don't just get them on the ship and turn them loose like cats behind a Chinese restaurant. Gosh dang folks. I get the fact that you prolly don't like them but why bring them for 2500 other folks to have to deal with while they're on vacation and trying to enjoy themselves. I got tired of seeing folks getting trampled by punk kids as son as the elevator doors would open. They were playing games of tag and hide and go seek all over the ship. That mess gets old. I was on the very back of the ship on deck 8 and there were kids running and screaming outside my room every day and night. It got old hearing that mess. I'd pay twice the fare if someone would come out with a child free cruise. And don't even think about getting into a swimming pool or hot tub. They were over ran with children jumping and splashing and being loud and disruptive. Nobody wants to listen to that folks. Enough about the children that are out of control. The ship is in bad need of some updating but I'd say the crew is in even worse need of updating. Send all them folks home and get some fresh faces in there and treat them better. Especially all the folks that work in the port! Read Less

My husband and I went on this cruise with our children and grandchildren to celebrate our 30th anniversary. I am a seasoned cruiser and go on about 2 cruises a year with no issues. This was my first time on Carnival. We chose the triumph because the value seemed too good to pass up. During our cruise we enjoyed the pools and entertainment and ports of call. On the 4th day of our cruise my wife got food poisoning and fell very Ill. She missed the final day and shows and dinner. The next day she very sick and has remained sick for a week. She has a doctor appointment tomorrow. We complained to several crew members and no one has contacted us or attempted to resolve the fact that our anniversary trip was ruined and money wasted. I have never been with a cruise line that is so uncaring I will not sail Carnival again unless they attempt to make this right. Read Less

This was my family of 5’s first cruise. Based on this cruise, I would not take another one. The first day, they put us in a different room then the one I had booked. When I went to the Customer Service desk, the Carnival Rep told me to call Expedia who I had booked though because there was nothing he could do. He was VERY rude and unhelpful. Being it was our first cruise, I tried asking how the cards they give you and the food works. He didn’t seem like he wanted to help. Nice first impression and unfortunately it didn’t get much better. I had previously read it was a cruise geared toward families. That’s not true. Adult party times and children’s pools and slide are all together. When we met our cabin cleaning guy, he barely spoke English so when I asked for evening service after we left for dinner, he thought that just met “do not come”. So we only received one service. They also make you go to a manitory “Emergency” meeting in case of an emergency while on board. While I understand the importance of this, it’s not helpful when they herd you together like cattle then have a Captain who can’t speak English well talk then a Cruise Director who speaks so fast in speakers that crackle that you are left having no clue what was even said! Dinner time was given to us at 8:15. We had no other option unless we wanted to do the buffet. During this time is when the Family shows play and movies. We missed a lot because of this if we wanted to sit down together to eat. When we asked if we could do a “any time” dinner, we were told yes so we planned our day around this. When we show up and wait in line awhile, the girl tells us No we can’t. The staff needs to be on board with one another! No pun intended! We decided on an excursion to the Mayan Ruins which cost over $400. The Excursion desk girl never told us we needed tickets which she was suppose to have given us. We go to a meeting place where after rushing to get there, they still don’t say to make sure you have your tickets. We get off the ship, get into line, and as they are rushing us to the bus, are told we need tickets. I explain we paid on board but were never given tickets. The man told us we couldn’t go. At this point I’m just mad. Fortunately, another Mexican gentleman comes over and after hearing me explain, takes us through and writes a manual ticket. I blame Carnival for this!! They should stress that tickets are needed and MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THEM!!! Especially after paying so much! Everything is overpriced. I spent $12 for a glass of wine that I might spend $10 on the bottle at home! No soda is included. Service was mediocre. Breakfast service doesn’t understand that you like to keep coffee in your cup. Overall... they over promise and WAY UNDER deliver!! I’d strongly suggest picking another cruise line! Read Less

Totally disappointed! The food was mediocre, activities onboard were sparse, and shows rare! Children and adults running up and down the halls at midnight and later. This was our 6th cruise but first and last on Carnival. You get what you pay for! Too few sanitation stations, which was a big bother to us especially with flue season being at its height. The only positive was Alex, our excursion guide. We did the Mexican Fiesta. Alex was friendly and knowledgeable. The excursion was extremely interesting! We enjoyed it thoroughly and would love to do another with Alex! The 2 shows in the Rome theater by the singers and dancers were well executed with beautiful costumes, quick costume changes, good vocals, and wonderful choreography! Sorry there weren't more such shows since those would have been appreciated! Read Less

Our Cabin had to be cleaned before we unpacked (clumps of hair on shower walls, stained carpet, pink splatters on walls and ceiling) Regular food was mediocre but we also had a Vegan with us and their idea of accommodation was to ask her each night which of the side dishes from the other meals she wanted. The featured vegetarian meal was the same Indian food all 7 nights. Some the lunch restaurants have options such as a taco salad or veggie burger but they are not printed anywhere and you might only know about it until day 5 when you hear someone else in line ask for it. The specialty restaurants such as BBQ, Mexican, Burgers, Indian, Asian, Pasta are only open for lunch. Our group spent over $1,000 in the spa and they were slow, rude and not helpful on at least 5 different visits. You could not even leave the spa without waiting for the one person working the desk to complete a 10 minute sales pitch for someone else since you had to get your room key back from her. They have a cart with signs that let you pick your own ingredients for a self body scrub. When you ask the spa attendant how you use this service (that we paid for) she went in back and brought out a chocolate mint scrub. When we asked about the sign that tells you to pick your own ingredients, she said they don't do that and she went in back again and brought a second scrub option. I was charged for someone elses drinks one evening in the lounge and customer service took it off only to add it back on a day later. Over 60% of the ships daytime activities are based on getting more money out of you. (spa seminars, jewelry events, sales, auctions, photos, casino, yoga classes, ...) The ship's layout blocks sections of the ship on several of the activity and dining decks so you have to change floors, walk to the other section of the ship and then go back to the floor where you wanted to go. I don't know if this is Carnival or just this one ship but we will choose a different cruise line next time. Read Less

our first cruise, and overall very disappointed in everything from quality of food, decor of balcony stateroom, to entertainment. our stewart and the staff were wonderful, BUT ship is outdated. food is terrible!! even serves powdered scramble eggs. couldn't believe poor quality of food. don't buy beverage packages - total waste of money!!!! Yucatan port is a waste of time. do an excursion if you go, but know that there isn't any decent retail, excursions 40 mins to 2 hrs away, so will monopolize your time. wish we'd done more research before we booked, as we wouldn't have chosen this cruise line and ship. day 4 and we are still suffering from bubble guts. not a cruise for anyone who wants tasty food. kids everywhere, taking over hot tubs. not happy with overall experience. will NEVER take another Carnival cruise. disappointing shows/activities. Cozumel port was great, recommend taking a cab to downtown ($8 - visit shops/restaurants several blocks away from beach). be prepared to haggle- very aggressive vendors. really wish we could say something more positive. actually angry we wasted our money on this cruise line. we thought it was going to be a nice Christmas holiday cruise. First off I am a Platinum Carnival VIFP member. We cruise every Christmas and sailed on the Triumph last Christmas 2016 with much better results than this year. The nightmare started while going through customs. Each adult is aloud to bring 1 750ml bottle of wine in their carry on, 2 adults 2 bottles. We are in the process of starting a winery making Mead(honey wine). Our bottles are labeled corked with a corking machine and have cellophane bottle caps. The person even to the cellophane off and could see the cork had not been removed. All she would say is read your cruise agreement, we did I suggest she do the same! Even though we read the cruise agreement concerning bringing wine and contacted Carnival to make sure it was ok our wine was taken from us while going through security. We had 2 options, 1. they would open and pour out our wine, or we could return it to the car. Since we were dropped off at the port by family I called them to come back so I could run it out to them. When we made it to our cabin it smelled like cigarette smoke, so I opened the door to the balcony and quickly aired it out. The room 7345 had the least amount of storage on any cruise ship I'd been on. The bed was horrible and the sofa was in need of replacement. There was a small cabinet I placed some things in and while retrieving something out of it the hinge on the inside was so sharp it took a big gouge out of my finger. Luckily I had bandaids. The next door neighbors must have been an NFL defensive linemen because many times it sounded like and felt like a defensive line lined up and ran into the wall making a loud crash and shaking the entire stateroom. My wife and I are healthy eaters so lucky for us we bring most of out own food. The food in the dining room and buffet was horrid with less and less choices every year. I pack organic apples, homemade bread, natural peanut butter and canned vegetables I can eat cold. The only saving grace from the ship's horrid food is eating at restaurants I know at the ports. The ports: I have several friends in Cozumel so it is always fun visiting our friends and dining with them. In Progresso we have a friend I call when in town that picks us up and takes us places then out to eat. This time he too us to the Mayan ruin Kabah then to the Chocolate Story. Both were fantastic and very educational. We ate at a restaurant called Alberto's in Progresso. It was very good! When we returned to the ship once again a strong cigarette smoke smell filled our room. It took almost 2 hours for someone to show up. They sprayed something in it that helped, but after I showered then my wife the bathroom smelled like sewage. It was a backup on our floor that the plumbers had to address. The sink in the bathroom had a huge crack in it and the surface was peeling. Water went from cold to scalding every few seconds. The line at guest services were always long and didn't seem to move. Luckily we didn't have to stand in it, but there were a lot of complaints. At the Diamond and Platinum party there were the fewest number of these cruisers I've ever seen. Only 2 diamond and 8 or so platinum. Not a good sign if your loyal customers are staying away. The nightmare didn't end when we left the ship. We took a taxi home and the taxi driver claimed to not have any change for our fair and said his receipt and credit card machine was broken. I'm in the process of filing a complaint with the department that regulates taxis in the city of New Orleans. Read Less

Our Carnival experience was a complete disaster. Throughout the duration of our trip, we spent a large portion of our time at customer service. When we first arrived at our stateroom, we were overwhelmed with the odor of cigarette smoke. We immediately notified guest services due to it irritating our sinuses. We were informed that they would bring in an air purifier. In the meantime, we decided to go eat lunch. After about an hour in a half, we returned to our rooms to find that they hadn’t fixes the issue. We saw an attendee in the hallway and asked her if she could address the issue. We left the room again due to the strong smell. Hours later we returned, and the air purifier was in our room. During this time, we realized that our AC was not working and was intermitted throughout the rest of the trip. The next major issue was the intense rocking of the boat due to technical issues caused by 1 of the engines going out (that’s what we were told at least). During this time, I fell and another member of our group which resulted in her going to the infirmary. She still has bruises on her hip and I have a scrap on my knee. The last major issue we had was a leaky ceiling in our stateroom. We heard dripping and noticed our ceiling was leaking. We went to customer service and Luis and another employee in white came to our room to see what was going on. They put a trash under the leak and told us they would contact the plumber. We were told all our stuff needed to be moved and packed because the plumber would have to remove the ceiling panels to fix the issue. Throughout the night we could not sleep because of the constant dripping sound. Once again, we were not comfortable on our vacation. After hours of going back in forth to customer service the next day the plumber fixed the issue. At this point, we were ready to get off the boat due to all of the awful experiences, but had to stay on the boat even longer due to the “propulsion failure” which I’m sure you all were aware of. The delay greatly affected our travel, work, and family plans. Overall our entire vacation was by far the worst I’ve experienced traveling through Carnival. This trip was not worth the investment or time in my opinion. Read Less
