I am a cruise person having been on 8 cruises and 5 of those on Carnival Ships. The spa people were standing on the deck offering you a chance for a discount. Having never had a facial I pulled a card and received $50.00 off. I had a facial done which was 165.00 less $50.00 which is $115.00. I SIGNED a receipt for $115.00 however after I get home I see I was charged $135.75. When I contacted Carnival I was told that the Spa Service was contracted. When I call them I was told it was an automatic 20% tip. Issue 1: that is not on the receipt I Signed. Issue 2: read the contract you agree to Spa Service is not listed in automatic gratuity. Issue 3: Told nothing could be done after I get off I should have addressed it on ship, i started the first business day after I got off trying to get any information and it took me 3 days to have someone call me back. Therefore, DO NOT DO A SPA SERVICE! And CARNIVAL what have you done...this is next to the worst cruise I have been on...too may issues to address but this is number 1...this was a Anniversary cruise and I was shocked with Carnival now I am mad!!!! The dining area staff were good we prefer the sit down breakfast and dinner at 6. The room staff need some repair cleaning lessons but did appear in the room daily. Things needed where pointed out but not addressed i.e. the bed light had no knob to turn it on you had to stick your finger in the knob hole to turn it on. The shows were okay. The comedy was good, I love bingo but the caller preferred to talk to much and not just call the numbers. They have a new set up where you do everything on the ship after you get on i.e. the credit card on file so the first 2 days the customer support area was big lines! Read Less

It was ok at best. Mexico felt safe. Food got old really quick and so did the entertainment. Stay away from the non paying casino. Best part of the trip was getting home. Stay on the boat when it docks and you might get a chance to use the pool and hot tub. When in progresso do NOT book the Mi Casa Es Su Casa excursion or you will hate yourself. Tried to review on Carnival but they only take good reviews. Bad food, bad drinks, flies, dirty. Adam our guide was ok I guess and the buss was clean. The AC in our room 7329 worked sometimes. We lucked up and got a fan from our room attendant. The bubbles package was hot can drinks poured over ice . Each drink they had to swipe your card and print a ticket and you had to sign for it. The coffee was like tar it was so strong. Pizza had little to no meat on it. Guys burgers was about the best food on boat and it wasn’t great either. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we wanted to sail from New Orleans and we wanted to cruise during our anniversary. We know Carnival has a reputation for loud partiers, but we thought getting a balcony cabin would help us avoid some of that. In a nutshell, we wouldn’t chose this cruise if we had the choice to make again. The Valor was old. We knew that and didn’t mind as long as the ship was clean and in working order. For the most part, that was the case. The ship decor was a bit outdated. Again, not really a deal breaker. Our cabin was a balcony cabin on the 9th deck-lido. We liked the convenience of being there and it really wasn’t too loud. Most things were in working order, although one lamp by the sofa never worked the entire duration (and we notified the steward of this the first day). We liked the size of the room. Decent for two people. The balcony was wet most of our stay because of condensation leaking/dripping from above, so that was a bummer. The steward was nice, prompt, and accommodating (I requested extra hangers). The food in the steakhouse was good. We paid $38 extra per person to be able to get decent steak. The first night you get a free bottle of wine if you go to the steakhouse; I knew this from reading reviews, but the wine steward didn’t tell us this. I had to ask, and then he acted perturbed and said yes. This was really the kind of service we received from most waiters and bartenders the entire time. Irritated, perturbed, put out that they had to serve you. There was definitely an undercurrent of dislike/disdain from most of them. We are polite people and we tip extra, so this behavior from them was unwarranted. We even had some bartenders intentionally/blatantly skip over us and ignore us, for no reason. This makes a vacation really no fun at all. Exceptions:Alchemy bar. The bartenders there are nice, knowledgeable and efficient. But, you have to like strong, expensive mixed drinks to go there. The main dining room (ours was Lincoln) was sub par. Service was VERY slow, even though they scurried around like they were very busy; they didn’t appear to be organized or efficient. I wondered if the waiters were just pretending to be busy? The last night we dined there we didn’t get our drinks until we were almost finished with the meal and we only got them because I asked a busser from a nearby section about them. She took pity on us and stepped up to serve our table. I really don’t understand why we had to be treated so rudely (ignored) on the actual day of our anniversary. I made a point to go to my room, get cash, and place it directly into Cindy Lui’s hand to thank her for giving us our drinks and taking our dessert orders, when the others wouldn’t. I vowed then that I’d NEVER go back on that ship. The main dining food was bland and really not very good. We found better options in the buffet on Lido (you have to try several entrees there to identify what is actually good, but there are some good options, and the buffet salad is very fresh and delicious). I hate to say this: The boat stank pretty often. Musty smells around the main Lido pool area (it isn’t well ventilated) and often times at various places on the boat, a strong stench of sewage would greet you. Not my idea of a fun ship. Don’t even get me started on disembarking. Just prepare yourself to wait three hours shoulder to shoulder with herds of people and their luggage (dragging down flights of stairs). Bit of advice: just go sit in the buffet area and wait until the very end and hopefully you can just walk off the boat without the crowds of 3700 people. I’m giving the cruise two stars because despite the overcrowded nature, the rude staff, the old ship, and the smell, we still managed to enjoy our time. The shows we went to were really good, the comedy acts were funny, and we liked the Serenity deck. The ports and excursions we went on were enjoyable. That said, I’ve never been happier to be off of a cruise boat in my entire life!! No more Carnival for us! Read Less

We booked a group of about 26 to go on this cruise. The majority of us are avid Carnival customers and sail annually. The food, service, cleanliness, and attitudes of some of the staff members made this a terrible experience! Never doing Carnival again! I had made a reservation at the steakhouse but cancelled it because my granddaughter & her parents jumped on onboard last minute. The steakhouse called to confirm my cancellation, and still charged me $177.00. The communication between the staff is horrible! Every meal was subpar with steaks being too tough to eat and very overcooked! We sent food back only to be disappointed in the replacement. We tried the buffet on the Lido deck and much of it was cold when it should have been warm. The eggs for breakfast was rubberized . I have never been so disappointed in the food on a cruise. The positive things were the shows. Every single one was entertaining! The temperature of our cabin was ok while sailing but had trash from the previous occupants in the closet. Read Less

I cruise about once per year (Carnival, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean), and the Glory was my least favorite cruise. We sail with children, therefore always sail during "busy" times when school is out. The good parts were: * The staff were very friendly, although seemed overwhelmed at times. * Carnival has the best comedy clubs of any line. Other lines may have a comedy club once or twice curing the cruise. Carnival has them every night. * The Alchemy bar is great. * The Dr. Seuss brunch was great! Sign up early as they do fill up. Highly recommend. * The sea day brunch is also very nice. It included a filet choice as no additional charge. * Carnival still has breakfast room service at no additional charge. * Being able to pre-order a case of bottled water for about $5 (delivered to your room) is nice. * Being able to bring on a 12-pack of canned soda and a bottle of wine is a nice perk for those not getting a drink package. * Nice to have 24-hour pizza (that staff works really hard as there is always a line). * The Blue Iguana, BBQ and deli/grill are good, although, there were ALWAYS lines (probably because the buffet was so bad). The not-so-good points were: * The buffet was the worst that I have ever experienced between all of my cruises and AI resorts. They do not have a Mongolian wok on the Glory. The food choices are non-appealing (greasy, stale, very limited salad bar, dried out entrees, etc). The layout is confusing (toppings/accompaniments are in another section, bacon served out at one piece at a time by a stressed out staff, small chocolate bar served during lunch). There were always LONG lines. Yes, they do have the grill, Guys burgers, Iguana grill, etc, but those lines were also always LONG no matter when you went. * The pool deck/seating area was the WORST of any cruise that I have been on. They converted/took out about 1/3 of the pool deck seating for the kid's water park. Could not find a chair, even on the "secret" deck and the Serenity deck on the sea day. * Long drink lines. Most of the other cruises that I have been on will put out additional "quick-serve" drink stations (beer, soda, non-blender drinks, etc) on sea days. The Glory did not do this. If you like to lounge by the pool on sea days, this is not the ship for you (especially if you have to stay in the kids/family-allowed pool/deck area). *Carnival/Glory has apparently instituted a new debarkation luggage tag process this year. If you do not pick up your luggage tags by 5:30 PM the day before, you must carry out all of your luggage. Didn't realize this until I got back to my cabin after 5:30 and no luggage tags. WHY??? *We did have rough seas a couple of nights. I am used to the rocking and creaking, however our rooms had a loud banging/crashing sound above our ceiling (sounded like our ceiling was going to fall in). Called at midnight, but they told me that maintenance would have to come and sit in our room to confirm that there was a sound. REALLY??? You could hear the crashing/banging out in the hallway. I know a vacation is what you make of it. The less you have to try to make "lemonade out of lemons" though the better, especially when you are spending your hard-earned money and precious vacation time. Look elsewhere. Read Less

We took this cruise so that our seven year old grand child could go. We had a party of 6. There were our daughter and her soon to be husband, the grand son and a 55 year old friend of our daughter. Boarding was fine and orderly. Our room had my wife and I along with the grandson. The room was a balcony 8-378 with a bed and a pull out. We noted the room was warm upon arrival. We adjusted the thermostat and found it made no difference. We called guest services and nothing happened. We notified our room steward and nothing happened. We called again and they sent someone out to measure the temperature in the room. 75. No horrible, just humid and no AC. It was cooler outside the room. The guy who measured the temperature indicated he would have the AC people come look at the system. The AC tech never materialized but our room steward did give us a fan. The next day we actually went to guest services and they claimed it was 72.6 degrees the evening before. That wasn't true. The young man from Belarus showed us the meter at 75 degrees Fahrenheit. We complained again and still no one came. Fortunately the weather was not that hot and we survived with quick showers and a fan blowing on us. Upon return it was clear they had a problem. At least 30% of the doors had fans sitting outside waiting to be taken back to storage. The rest of the room was fine except there was ONE 110 v electrical plug in the entire room/bathroom. Not one outlet, one plug and that was now occupied by the fan. There was a 220V outlet in the Bathroom. I paid for the highest internet and it was a joke. I could hit my email. I could get Fox news about 30% of attempts. I could get CNN 0% of the time. I tried to log into a bridge web site. Nope. Download a book to read. Nope again. Read Less

So you think a cruise sounds great. So did I. Well, here is assessment for you to make an informed decision. First, the staff is amazingly friendly. Truly nice people looking to make your trip as good as pleasant as possible. We had 5-8 ft seas and high winds most of the way to Yucatán. It really wasn’t a bad ride at all. Don’t worry about the waves unless 10ft plus. Here’s where the fun stops. The food is not bad; not great but not bad. You will need to decide whether you want a drink plan for alcohol. Buy individual or as a package for around $65/day per person. Just know that if you like beer, call brand bar drinks, and sugar drinks (pina colada, rum punch) then you’re fine. If you like wine, you’re out of luck. The best wine by the glass in red or white is Kendall Jackson. No wine drinker can drink KJ every day. Even though wine list shows a couple which seem better like a French Chardonnay, no bar has it. Only at formal dinner is it available. Oh, you can purchase bottles at restaurant mark up prices but not included in a drink plan. Activities. Movie at night is about as good as it gets. The land excursions are definitely to do even that hey are expensive. Carnival marks those up tremendously but at least they’re coordinated for you and safe. Otherwise, there’s really not much to do on the ship other than eat and drink (unless you’re newlyweds!). The Comedy Club is apparently fun too but you must get there 30-45 min early for a seat. Shopping: what do I say here... mostly junk and definitely not saving any money. The tourist traps at ports are fun but don’t expect good quality for low prices. And the duty free shops!!! They are a joke. Some prices are higher than a State Liquor store in Alabama (which by the way is higher than most states!!). For comparison: Johnny Walker Blue in Louisiana on land is $200-$230. In Alabama it’s $250. In the so-called duty free stores it was $290. Seriously? Okay, so you get idea. If you like to lay by pool and consume beer or island drinks all day for 5 days, a Carnival Cruise is for you. If you prefer a bit more atmosphere or posh settings, then trust me you will be disappointed. My overall assessment.... boring, overrated, and they charge for everything. You’d be better off booking an all inclusive resort or traveling to NYC, Paris, Napa, or Greenbo Alabama. Anywhere but a cruise. Read Less

We booked this trip as a weekend getaway for a bachelorette trip. It started off terribly. Trying to park at the New Orleans port was a complete disaster. We arrived before we were supposed to board but spent almost an hour and a half in standstill traffic.. then to be told we had to turn around and go to overflow parking and take a shuttle. We were treated unkindly and yelled at- all while just trying to figure out where to go. Once on the boat, I was very surprised at how outdated our stateroom was let alone the rest of the ship. The cabin was very small and the bathroom had not been cleaned properly. The food was TERRIBLE. The ONLY good food was the Guy’s burgers. I would give those a 5/5. Find that place and eat it for every meal. I survived on ceaser salads at dinner. Room service is a joke!! We would wait anywhere between 15-30 minutes just to get someone to answer, and then another 1-2.5 hours to get what we had ordered. We waited over 1.5 hours just for a Diet Coke. The bar service was extremely slow. We would wait nearly 30 minutes to be waited on. The bar tenders did not seem to care because most had the cheers program which has built in gratuity. We eventually figured out that we would have to pay in cash a server to come to the deck where we were sitting. Find the serenity deck and claim a chair!! There are clean bathrooms and nicer chairs on this deck. Unless you are into filthy music, bad smells, and people grinding, I would recommend the serenity deck. This boat is not kid friendly AT ALL! Our best part of the trip was getting off in Cozumel. We just explored around the port. We had excellent food at Pancho’s and loved the shops. Fat Tuesday’s was also fun. Returning to the cruise ship was dreadful. Disembarkation was a nightmare as well. Do not listed to them when they tell you that you must leave at a certain time. Have your stuff ready in your hand and on deck 3 at 7am on the dot. No one follows the rules so you can get stuck in a hallway or stairwell for hours if you do not stand on ready at 7 by the door. Good luck if your going to be on this boat. Bring lots of snacks and just try and dance out your attitude. Read Less

SHIP The ship was decent but there was a foul smell that was on the main deck that never went away and took your breathe away (in a bad way) every time you went to the deck. Rooms were small but that was expected but think they could use some updated from the 1960's decor. DINING Dinner was proposal the best part because our servers were very kind and remembered our names and probably one of the only times I felt special like I was on a vacation. FOOD The little restaurants on the kiddy corners of the LIDO deck were pretty good as was the pizza place out back. Dinner was pretty good food but many times the food came out on a plate that had condensation as if it was just pulled from a microwave. Not a ton of healthy options and when I asked for a side of broccoli I got two sad pieces. ENTERTAINMENT The piano bar and Comedy show were the way to go. Both very funny and kept me laughing. Lots of useless things going on at all times which I think take away from enjoying the little things on board. I will not be going on a Carnival Cruise again, not all the workers were kind to the questions we asked and I get they work long hours but people coming there are dropping a large amount of money to get empty looks and snarky remarks. I had high hopes for this cruise and was continued to be let down at the fact that I spent so much money on an experience that was subpar at best. Also, be careful because on the last day at Sea my boyfriend got soot all over his shirt and it was covered in orange and black spots and this apparently happens a lot. One girl in our group went down and they were very nice and offered her laundry coupons and so we decided to do the same because ours was even worse and the lady looked at us like we were dumb and then eventually called laundry for a service on our clothes. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I would recommend going on a cruise that is a little better quality because that will be worth your money.. not Carnival. This cruise felt cheep and cheesy and they were doing everything in their power to nickle and dime everyone .. still trying to figure out what was included in this trip that I didn't end up re-paying for in the end. Initially very excited but turned quickly when we found over 1/2 passengers on the cruise belonged to “swingers” club. This group overtook every public area on the boat and very inappropriate behaviors/dress. Even cruise director made jokes toward them during entertainerment. Not sure if carnival aware of this but would of requested a refund and not went had we known. Our servers at dinner were very professional and food was okay. Loved Guy Ferrari cheeseburgers and Alchemy bar. Our two excursions (catamaran in Cozumel and beach resort at Progresso) were the only saving grace for this trip as able to get away from this group and enjoy the day. Was an odor of chemicals occasionally from the work being done on some of the decks. Also disappointed in that they allow smoking inside in this boat as the smoke overwhelmed the casino and lobby areas. You would think with all the outdoor space people could smoke outside. Will definitely be contacting Carnival about this when get my survey from them. Read Less

This was a family cruise with grandparents, parents, and grandkids. The grandkids loved the Ocean Kids Club. We had to pry them away every time we went to pick them up because they were having so much fun. On day one our cabin steward introduced himself and asked if we would like the cabin serviced in the mornings between 9 am and 1 pm, in the early evening, or both. We told him we would like both so we could get fresh towels again in the evening after returning from the pool, etc. We also asked him for a second drinking glass in the bathroom. The glass never showed up...all week. And, our cabin was serviced once a day anywhere between 9 am and 3 pm, not at the time or frequency that we were told it would be done at the start of the cruise. The service throughout the ship was lackluster, uncaring, and slow. This included the staff in the main dining room and buffets, at the bars, in the casino, etc. The food throughout the ship was limited in variety, poorly cooked, generally served luke warm if not cool, and had little taste. While I'm not a stickler for "Formal Night" attire, the couple at the table next to us was allowed in the main dining room dressed in shorts, t-shirts, and flip flops. Then, again on Formal Night, a man, who I was hoping would be the Maître D', came to our table to perform coin tricks. Internet, even the "Premium" internet that I had paid extra for was slow and spotty throughout the cruise. No hope of streaming anything. Lucky just to get a connection once in a while and to check e-mail. Entertainment was substandard compared to what we have experienced on other similar cruise lines. The smoke in the casino was unbearable. You couldn't get anywhere near the center of the ship where the casino was without having to suffer the from the smoke. Read Less

I booked this trip because it was a decent price but I guess this was because they were working on parts of the ship prior to the dry dock. If I had known this I would have booked the dream instead and had 2 more days for my vacation. Many areas were not accessible and there was noise and smells, not what I want to see, hear or smell on my vacation. This ship is very hard to navigate and you felt like in a maze trying to get anywhere. Perhaps this is because areas were blocked. I would not sail on the triumph again and it is certainly showing its age with many areas looking very poorly. The crew were also not very friendly and did not seem happy to be on the Triumph either. Activties and crew engagement were lacking for those that don't want to hear the same 5 line dances with a DJ that doesn't see to know any other songs. I get that others like that and it gets the crowd going but it got really old and we started to avoid them. . There were 3 30 minute trivia events over 5 days with nothing much else going on in between except for the musical duos or acoustic guitat playing. Many people commented their disappointment so I don't think we were imaginging everything. We spent more time napping or watching TV. On a posiive note the shows were quite well done with a large troupe with productions we have not seen before. Read Less

We didn’t go to dinner after that, We decided to try another restaurant, the same thing rude waitress so we decided to eat burgers everyday . We ordered coffee from room service they never came . The only cleaning they did was make the bed. We paid for alcohol and when we picked it up on the last day a box was missing so glad we checked . Went to hang out several times on the top deck only to find people smoking marijuana, we reported to the workers but nothing was done . The entertainment was ok , Cozumel was great but Triump cruise was horrible. We will NEVER cruise with them . Believe the reviews they are true . Read Less

First, the crew and staff of the ship are very friendly. Always received great service and felt welcome. Very nice room that was cleaned well. The food on the trip was average. Not terrible, not great. We met some very nice people on the ship from all over the country as well. We did experience some problems. We had neighbors that played music so loud, it was not a pleasant experience. Secondly, one night while pushing my wife in her wheelchair, a guy claimed i touched him and wanted to fight. We also noticed at night in the dining room, guys had jerseys on with the pants below their waste and ladies with their you know what hanging out of their shorts (Carnival, enforce dining room attire). Our door was knocked on 3 times looking for the party next door. I am not sure if it was the week we sailed, the port we sailed from or just bad luck. Our Carnival cruise in Alaska on the Legend was amazing. I will just say, be careful cruising from this port. embarkation= smooth parking = smooth anytime dining = smooth buffet area = not pleasant shore excursions = organized and variety Would i consider Carnival again, yes, never from New Orleans again. My sister and I wanted to take a relaxing girls trip to Mexico. We assumed the Carnival Triumph had had all the carpets replaced after the 2013 Poop Cruise incident. (Fire resulting in power failure leaving no A/C, raw sewage in the hallways and cabins, little food and water, etc.) The good news is that the sewage system did not back up or flood the hallways. The bad news is the hallways smelled like poop all the time and the toilets stunk so bad that we always had to have the lid closed, and we had to spray air freshener before we sat down to make sure we didn't gag. The carpets are still stained and water damaged from the poop cruise. That's right, they did not replace them that we could tell. I purchased the bottomless bubbles card for $50 for a 5 day cruise. To get a soda, you had to go to a bar or the main dining room. You then had to wait 10 minutes or more to be served at the bar. One morning, in the main dining room I asked four times for a soda and waited over 30 minutes for it. Nobody was getting one without begging. Furthermore, if the bars weren't open in the morning and you wanted to eat at the buffet, you could not get a soda at all. I had less than 12 total because of the hassle and should have just carried on my own 12 pack. The alcoholic drinks were super weak. I'm a huge lightweight and could not taste alcohol in my frozen drinks nor did they make me feel anything. The dining room food was just ok. Not horrible, but nothing to rave about. The prime rib was not good, and the beef tenderloin was obviously the leftover prime rib. Most of the leftover food from the formal dining room was served on the buffet the next day. Almost all fresh seafood and steak was $20 or more extra. Our room steward and waiter in the Paris Dining room were amazing though, and gave us great service despite the other issues. As far as entertainment, they had two comedians onboard. One made racial slurs during his act despite over half the cruise being people of color. Not many laughs there for good reason. The shows were just meh. Nothing great. We purchased a shore excursion that advertised snorkeling in a Cenote, (Mayapan ruins and Cenote cave swim and snorkeling) but when we got on the excursion, the guides informed us that they no longer offered snorkeling. The guides were very sweet and entertaining though, so it was not their fault. Carnival falsely advertised the shore excursion. Our other excursion was in Cozumel at the Isla Passion all inclusive beach day. Again, very weak drinks, and anything that was actually good was NOT included. (beer other than Negro Modelo and any alcoholic drink that did not come from a mystery cooler.) The staff was very pushy and constantly begging for tips. Towels were not even included, they were an additional $8. The canopied beds and hammocks were an extra charge. Basically, all that was included was a sub par lunch, beach access, a hard plastic chair, and mystery well drinks that were super weak. Would not do that excursion again. Overall, I was pretty dissapointed. I've cruised four other times with both Norweigan and Royal Carribean and this was my first Carnival Cruise. After this experience it was also my last. Read Less

The dining room water was no better and I had to leave to go get the bottle water from my room. Again a first. There was not even a table cloth on the main dining room tables? The attitude of the wait staff and Guste Services is that the water has been tested and is okay but they could not explain the bad smell and taste. The remedy was that they will gladly sell us bottle water at $3.75 a bottle though! By day two of the cruise we notices that hat the room began to smell badly and discovered the ventilation system was bringing in hazardous exhaust fumes from the ship. Read Less

Boarding was a bit of hit and miss. Our reserved time was pushed back and hour and then we had to wait another hour plus in the boarding area. We were in a suite so got to go into a separate waiting area where it was impossible to hear the announcements. Staff came in and literally shouted when it was time to go. Boarding was then easy. Our room was ready and was on the 7th level which we were later told was just renovated. It was an ocean suite and very nice. Large and well decorated and overall very functional. Large flat screen TV which was great but the selection of channels was abysmal. Really limited and what was there was pretty poor. Our cabin attendant was very nice although we did not see him much. (We really did not need anything and the cabin was always promptly cleaned after we left.) There were still unfinished items in the cabin, four lights were missing with holes in wall covered with masking tape, pretty much made the dressing area unusable. Also the safe did not work. Staff was almost universally nice. Friendly and helpful, it is pretty obvious they mostly like their jobs very much. They were a high spot on the cruise. Multiple times we would find have of the elevators in a bank inoperable as the staff worked on them, very inconvenient. Also, on the first day at sea the water system shut down. If there was any announcement about it, no one heard it and staff did not have any information. Generally, even when there were announcement you could not hear them, not enough volume or speakers. It was very rough due to our skirting Hurricane Michael and there were a LOT of sick people on board. You had to watch were you stepped in hall ways and on stairs and the common bathrooms were pretty bad with the toilets inoperable due to no water - I'll leave that you your imagination. The food, was pretty bad. Poor flavor and never quite right. Only high points were the burger and burrito place where, while food was good, the staff was not the friendliest. (I would assume it is a tough job given the demands from most customers for more of this and less of that, etc.) The seafood shack was very good and we went several times even though we had to pay. Pizza okay but they never seemed to have any ready when we stopped by - poor supply management. A lot of children on the cruise and they would take up seats at bars keeping paying customers away. Only once did we hear a bartender instruct them to move once they got their soft drinks. Stops were okay, if you have aver been to Mexico they are the same. Disembarking was very smooth as we were in suite and given priority. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it was going to several places we were wanting to go. The port was within a hundred miles from our house. We have cruised Carnival many times in the past. It is not our preferred cruise line but having not been on a Carnival ship in several years we thought we would give them another try. Hoping that their ships were modern and clean it was very disappointing from the very beginning. The interior of the ship reminds me of a 70’s nightclub. Red, orange and brown decor adorned the entire ship. So with this disappointment we were still optimistic about our week on board. Hoping that suite accommodations would be our saving grace we proceeded to our cabin with excitement. Our room was exactly what we had expected and our cabin service was good. Downside... room was located on 9th floor directly under an outside dining area with a wooden deck. The sounds of chairs and tables being moved began at 5:00 am and continued past midnight. It only stopped for a few minutes in between guests. So our suite oasis was never a peaceful retreat as once thought The hallway of the 9th floor had an odor that smelled like raw sewage. I reported this odor and inquire as to weather this was a health concern. I was told they were aware of the problem and should have in fixed in the near future and that it posed no health risk. This odor continued throughout the week. Read on... Read Less

My Best Friend Booked this Cruise and asked me if I would like to join her . We have a 20 year friendship and I normally do the planning, but not this time. We ported out of New Orleans. This was not my first time cruising out of this port. I have cruised out of New Orleans previously, and every time has been pleasurable. Except this time was far from my previous experiences. We arrived about an hour and a half before our scheduled time . It was 95 degrees and our entrance time was delayed by an hour . There was a lady with a microphone . The line was wrapped around the block . She was calling us in by our scheduled entry time . No one could hear her, and other carnival employees were trying to relay the info to us but they couldn’t yell loud enough for us to hear. So by the time we were close to the building we were drained and everyone visibly wet from sweating. We checked our bags with the guys at the port. Once we were on ship my bag had made it to my room. My friends arrived a couple hours later . She was livid. When we walked in our room it was very hot. . I showered changed ND we went to the safety drill. The whole boat was hot. There was no air circulating. We called guests services at least 5 times for the air issue . They sent an engineer everytime with a gadget to test the room temp. Everytime we scored above 75 degrees . The system is old an you can’t adjust the temp yourself . You can either open and closed the vent to let you desired air flow in. They ended up bringing us a loud dirty fan , that was their solution. My friend wants to sleep on the deck because it felt better outside. We preordered cases of water but there was no fridge . Guests services brought one that night that we could plug in. our room Stewart wasn’t the most attentive he came in the morning at 9am cleaned and left . He wouldn't restock our towels or beach towels. There was no turn down service which I wasn’t use to, because I’m a Gold member with carnival and every other ship has a turn down service. We had to call guest services or take supplies off the cart on the hall if we seen them. Lelu was our dining room server and he was great we enjoyed him. Comedy shows were good as well as the adult game show . Drinks were great . Food was normal . This ship was renovated in 2016 according to carnival but that was a lie . They added guy burger and that is all . Our carpet in the hall had water stains and always smelled like sewage. A lot of the decor is super dated but since this ship was built in 1999 and not renovated as listed you can’t really be surprised. We walked by a utility closet where engineers were digging for parts and the boxes they were in were wet and molded . All over the boat would be these screens up blocking off different parts of the ship from where they were fixing and patching things it was very inconvient and not a pretty site you want to see while you are cruising. This ship needs to be scrapped it’s too old , too small, but maybe that’s why the price was so low. The club was wack and the Dj could have done better. The very best thing about this boat were the people. I cruise a couple times a year and I’ve never met or experienced people with this type of welcoming nature. People on this cruised ROCKED!!!!! Carnival should be ashamed of themselves for still sailing the little engine that tried , I meant triumph. Read Less

Not been on Carnival before and we won’t again. Food was okay but that was all. Decor very dated. Certainly needs brightening up - everything is brown and orange. Daytime activities are rubbish. They have this thing with hasbro and the games are juvenile. Lack of trivia’s and the odd one they did it was like the staff didn’t want to be there. On one day after they did a music trivia the host decided the next trivia would be fairy tales - everyone but a few got up and left! Well she was only 20 and it’s what she wanted to do so never mind the people! Last day was at sea - nothing going on on board and no show in the evening - unheard of. Finally they held the meet and mingle on the last day....we had water and several biscuits on offer with a wonderful Roberto who spoke about the wonderful shows they put on. If you want to stay outside and sunbathe all day - fine but for everything else it was very poor. Read Less

Why we chose Carnival Triumph?- We chose this cruise because it appeared kid friendly (we had our 8yo and 16yo sons) and the dates worked for all of our schedules. I have used Royal Caribbean in the past but wanted to give Carnival a go. This was not my best decision! The ship was very outdated for the cost of this cruise. I also learned my lesson on purchasing travel insurance through Carnival as well. I wont use Carnival again. Physical appearance of Triumph- In various parts of the ship tiles were lose on the floor. We witnessed a woman fall in the buffett area due to poor flooring issues. You could also smell sewage and mildew in various parts of the ship. The food- The food was gross in the elegant dining area. Definetely not worth the price or the time we waited (1-2 hours ) Charges- My husband and I were disppointed at certain fees such as a $65 x 4 gratuity charge that was nicely charged to EACH one in our party on the very last night. This was charged to our credit card and was not told to us! Thank goodness we had the credit line available. The staff- The cleaning staff were awesome! Always friendly and hard working. The employees in dining areas were rude. We also purchased the soda passes. Make sure you are in the perfect spot of the Gulf of Mexico or else you are charged taxes for sodas. Meaning its not all paid for. The entertainment- The entertainment was raunchy and needs a makeover as well. The dancers did alot of sexual moves during family show. Positive aspects - were the Dr Suess activities and Camp ocean stuff. The St Jude fundraiser was great as well. All in all I will not use Triumph again. Overall -Total disappointment. I wished we had not wasted our vacation time from work to use this ship. Safety- If you do not have kids save yourself! Dont use this ship. Kids run all over the place , the quietness is limited and no area for adults unless you want to gamble or witness nasty comedy. Railings on upper decks have sun chairs right up against them. There are many areas in which a toddler or small child could easily get hurt, fall, or have serious injury. Read Less

This was my first cruise. I've read hundreds of reviews in preparation. I was hopeful that many of the negative reviews were just nit-picks. Unfortunately, I have to agree with many of the complaints. Embarkation: 5/5 This was a relatively fast and pleasant experience. I was checked in and eating a Guy Fieri burger within 30 minutes of arriving at port. Boat: 3/5 Some areas were still nice, most were run down and outdated. This ship is in major need of repair and a deep clean. At times it would rock side to side so bad the deck chairs would fly from one side of the boat to the other and it would billow smoke. The gym was small but worked just fine. The pools were overrun with kids! There were no adult-only areas on this ship! Cabin: 1/5 We had a balcony room on Deck 8. Upon arrival, we met our AWESOME steward, Larsen. He cleaned the rooms twice a day. I found the rooms to be much bigger than I expected. The beds were comfy. There were large stains and splotches on the wall across from the bed. There was weird white spots on the carpet as well. But most concerning, there was BLACK MOLD in the shower. Unfortunately this was not realized until much too late. After I was super sick. Dining: 5/5 Some of the food wasn't great, but for a ship that can't have open flames, everything was great! A lot of variety, even late at night. Room service prices are super reasonable and even have a free menu! Entertainment: 4/5 There was always something to do. It wasn't always something you WANTED to do, but there was fun and entertainment no matter what or where you were. Ports / Cozumel: 4/5 Very Beautiful Area! We took Isla Pasion by Twister. The beach was beautiful, but our boat broke down, which apparently is frequent. Progreso: 4/5 If you stay in the tourist areas, it can be fun. Cheaper souvenirs! I would not EVER wander off the port area alone. The area is not a great tourist place. BUT, our excursion, All Inclusive VIP Beach Experience, was a BLAST. Great drinks, GREAT food, awesome staff. I have no complaints. Debarkation: 5/5 Went even smoother than embarkation. I had a blast, aside from the sickness. The beaches were beautiful, I got so much relaxation time and had fun everywhere I went. I would LOVE to go on another cruise, but NOT the Triumph and likely not Carnival. Read Less

Decided to try the New Orleans port. Port workers were rude and ran you through like cattle. We took 2 teen boys and our 11 yr old boy. This was my son's Sr trip. This is my 3rd Carnival Cruise and the worst! Thank goodness my kids haven't been before. But they still noticed the outdatedness. First off the workers were not nearly as nice! The bartender in the capitol bar was very rude. My son waited over 30 minutes and never got waited on. I said something and was told she had other customers. I watched her from a distance wait on others that came up after him. I told her and got attitude. I was very upset and made sure to never use the capitol bar again! Our dining room waited was unfriendly till the last night. Our steward lady on the 8th deck was amazing!! Shows were good. Loved the comedians. Simon the cruise director was amazing! Ship is outdated!!!! We stayed in rooms 8215 and 8217 deck 8. Our couch was grimey from age, room was dusty, all the lights in both rooms were very slow coming on. Pillows we're awful. The kids room had broken light spots in ceiling, the bathroom door would not shut, thier room was always stuffy and warm. Floors down hallways we're stained. Food in dinning room was hit and miss. The shore excursions we're okay. Loved Mr Sancho's. We will never go out of New Orleans or use Triumph again. We will stick to the Galveston port. Actually we have decided to try Royal Caribbean next time. Yup it left a bad taste in our mouths. We saved up for over a year to treat my son to a nice Sr graduation trip that turned out mediocre. Looked good from web and reviews we saw BUT balcony room a disgrace. Dirty, rusting, scratched, tired, very cheap - grey supposed to be white towels. Wardrobe door unhinged same as toilet door closing system broken but still closing. No toiletries apart from shampoo and shower gel. Porthole and door dirty and decayed. Balcony should have been taped off rusting dirty shambles. You would not go out barefoot or sit on seats (subsequently replaced). First to the fun bought but didn’t get cases until after 5.00pm!!! Closest we have been to getting off a boat and staying in NOLA. Saving grace was staff at Spa and staff at Steakhouse who were terrific. We are now stuck in a room with the smallest rustiest balcony I have ever seen. Thank God it’s only 7 days. Also internet dodgy. Customer Service Manager very polite and understanding but powerless. Got embarrassing and tiring. Read Less

As for the food in the dining room portions were small and some didn't taste good at all say brunches are good but most of the steaks I had were very tuff some were over cooked. Lido deck buffet need a major overhaul most of the food there was nasty.
