My 17 yo son and I took this trip together as his sr trip. We had gone on another cruise when he was much younger with the whole family and didn't have the best time. After our initial plans were cancelled due to the Triumph's sad mishaps, Carnival gave us a discount plus 2extra days for this cruise. We did have to go out of New Orleans instead but the discount compensated for our extra travel ...

To start, I have noticed a lot of reviews complaining about the quality of the food on Carnival, in particular, the buffet. Being a veteran of past Celebrity and Royal Caribbean cruises, I will let you in on a little secret: go to their boards and you will probably see the same thing being said about them. As someone who does not eat a lot of processed foods, the best description for the food ...

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Carnival Elation

My husband and I as well as another family of 5, 2 adults and 3 teens, headed to New Orleans on March 17th. Our cruise on the Elation was set to leave on the 18th, but we opted for a night in New Orleans to avoid any delays. Also, the 17th is St. Patrick's day and we thought it would be FUN to check out the parade in New Orleans. We arrived to our hotel in Gretna around 3:00 PM. I had called to ...

The Port of New Orleans was great, we got through in about 30 minutes from the gate of customs to being on the ship. Our boarding time was 1:00 but we got there a little early to avoid the last minute rush to get on, of course our bags were not in our room yet but as we were in our cabin and dropping off our carry ons, our bags arrived...that was quick! The ship was easy to Navigate and not ...

After nine cruises with Carnival, I have yet to be disappointed. Our experience on the Conquest was no exception. After running the New Orleans Half Marathon Sunday morning we went back to our hotel, showered and went straight to the port. It was around 1:30 when we arrived. In the past, a later arrival meant a longer wait. However, the parking garage was very convenient, and the whole ...

This will be long so here is a quick breakdown of what follows for those who don't want to read the entire review: Room: Suite was good, but balcony room better value for the money. Ship: Clean and in very good shape. Entertainment: Comedians, musicians and activities are excellent. Shows not so much. Food: Buffet okay, main dining room good, other places really good except steakhouse, which ...

There was a total 12 adults who decided on a rainy day in August that we needed to escape Our river that had no water due to a drought. We are all boaters and needed something to make up for the lack of water we had. We took the Amtrak from Kankakee IL down to New Orleans. 18 hour trip more fun on the way down then the way back. Very cold but it was a different form of transportation. We ...

Let me start by saying this was my first Cruise. I have nothing to compare it to other than vacations to a beach or resort. When I was booking my cruise, I couldn't find any detailed reviews so this review will be very detailed and lengthy hoping to help out those who are interested. 1. Arriving in New Orleans: Our trip was the Sunday between Super Bowl Sunday and Fat Tuesday. Traffic was heavy ...

Drove with parents from Crossville, TN to Slidell to spend the night before boarding ship. Great hotel (La Quinta). Got up Sunday morning and headed to New Orleans to board. Dad and brother chose Fulton Garage for parking, much cheaper than Carnival parking (about $8 per day) with free shuttle to port. They dropped the rest of us off at port and checked luggage, then headed to Fulton Garage to ...

Wonderful Cruise on the Carnival Conquest

This was my first cruise on a non-Fantasy class ship with Carnival, and both my husband and I are impressed with the Carnival 2.0 upgrades done aboard the Conquest. The ship looked and felt almost brand new, which only added to the element of luxury already present with the ship's French Impressionist themed decor. Everything from the cabins to the pool decks to the dining rooms was simply lovely. ...
