Being my first cruise - I learned as the journey continued. Note: My United seat was too small and chairs too close to my knees for me to get out. I would have enjoyed my cruise more if I had "thought" about there being a doctor on the cruise. Because of the hurt sacrum and arthritis, I needed to stop more often. Therefore, I would have LOVED having somewhere to sit on each floor. Even if it was near the elevator. There were very, very few places to sit along the passageways. This would be helpful especially to us older or partially handicapped people. Some people just "loved" the cruise director. Since this was my first cruise, I did not have a previous director to compare him to. As for me, I found his English accent very annoying to my ears and you heard it all over the ship - everywhere all the time. Some people loved him. So I am sure he was very good. Even if you are not ready for a wheelchair (like me) you might consider getting a partially handicapped room if you stumble over things or trip a lot. The reason I say that is the first cabin I was in (like 1202) the restroom floor was raised up about six inches. I had to put the lime green cups in the doorway so I would remember to step up the extra height each time I went into the restroom of my cabin. I went to play bingo - one time. It was very expensive. Also - if you were not the only person who won that game, you had to split the pot with whoever won also. I SURE WISH I HAD BEEN TOLD there was a free shuttle that would take me from the ship into Nassau. It was not a really long trip but it was stifling hot. Also, once you entered into the building to get to town, you could not turn back. You had to go through the building and enter the other side and stand in line to wait for the shuttle back to ship or I guess to walk out and walk back to ship. Not sure how I should have handled having my baggage taken to the bus I was to get on to go from pier to airport --- but I am sure going to find out on my next cruise in December 2018. I went down early and took them myself. Little knowing I would have to stop and start and stop and start for a very, very long ways from ship back and forth through corridors to get to the bus for airport. Surely I could have paid to have my bags put on the bus and me just walk it. I will figure this out at beginning of my next cruise. I was on this first cruise by myself. I am very friendly and so were others but I made sure that I have someone with me for my next cruise and it seemed too long by being alone. I began in cabin 11202 but woke up in wee hours with rocking of ship. Went to guest services and they graciously moved me to another room the next morning. Mucho better. Thank you. Read Less

...the only thing missing for us was and "adults only" pool area. There were LOTS of kids onboard and finding a place outside, that was laid back, was the smoking area and we don't smoke. Otherwise a great time. The cruise director, Simon London did a great job and certainly the stewards and wait staff were spot on!! We really enjoyed a food tasting in the kitchen with the sous chef - a once in a lifetime experience. The closing show was really good! They all worked hard to provide us with a great time. We also enjoyed Thea Vidale, Clay at the piano in The Big Easy piano bar. Brendan, the soloist was super cool and very talented. I must be old, but the music played was very loud all over. It is an enclosed area, party music, sure! but this was too loud sometimes. I thought the check on and check off was well organized. Read Less

We took our 3 children and our son in law on this cruise as what would probably be our last family vacation together. All four of them are older than 21 so even though they're are children, they aren't really kids. We chose this cruise because my wife and I took the exact same cruise in September, 2016 and really enjoyed it. The ship and the crew are fantastic. Our cabin steward, Joel, was terrific in taking care of us and making sure that we had everything we needed. The venues were very nice and the Alchemy Bar was a very nice surprise with the different types of drinks that they made. The live shows were pretty good-a few clunkers here and there but for the most part very entertaining. Dining was terrific as always. The main dining room has wonderful food and the staff there (we had several different ones) were all on top of their game. It's nice when you get friendly and good service from multiple individuals and not just one person. The only real drawback to the cruise were the number of younger (18 or less) on the ship. We chose the Memorial Day holiday week thinking that most kids would still be in school but we totally missed that one! Lots of kids on senior trips and taking vacations with their parents. It made it very hard to get a place at the pool or find seating in the Lido buffet. I think the next cruise we take, we'll probably do a little more research and find one more appropriate for our age. Other than that, the cruise was very good and the ship's crew was once again outstanding. Read Less

Triumph is an older and smaller ship, but we really enjoyed our cruise. ROOM: We were in cabin 8201 with a balcony. The room was clean and roomy. Carnival provides in the room: beach towels, towels and wash cloths, blankets and extra pillows, soap, shampoo and conditioner, toilet paper, kleenex, bottle opener in bathroom, clothes line in the shower for wet bathing suits, hair dryer, two outlets, full length mirror and dresser, lots of mirrors, ice bucket, wine glasses, water that can be bought for $3.25 a bottle, two lounge chairs and table on balcony. You can ask your steward for bathrobes and extra hangers. No refrigerator in room unless you have medicine that must be kept in the refrigerator. What you need to bring: power cord, clothespins to hold swimming suits on clothes line, hand mirror. You can get a larger ice bucket at the bar on the Lido deck for box wine. Order 12 pack of water at the Fun Shop online for $4.50. The thermostat is on the ceiling. You can ask the steward to help you adjust it. DINING: We ate in the Paris Dining Room as much as possible, and we were always pleased with the food. If you are not happy with one dish, then order another one. The service was amazing. Thank you Edgar and Imadi. I did not like the Lido deck food-tasted like cafeteria food, but I do not like buffet food. I did like Off the Grill on the Lido deck that made omelettes the way you wanted them. They were delicious. The SeaDay Brunch in the Paris Dining Room was the best! Ask to be seated by the window-open seating for breakfast. ENTERTAINMENT: We loved the bands Cat's Pajamas and Music through the Decades. We did not like the Welcome Show but the tribute to New Orleans Show was great! If you like Art check out the Art Show. The pieces were beautiful. SHORE EXCURSIONS: COZUMEL- You must check out Kaokao Chocolate Factory Tour. You can order on their website. It was $25 per person for 90 minutes. It was so informative and fun. We made our own chocolate to take home. At the end of the Cozumel pier is the taxi stand. It was $11 for up to four people to go to the factory. https://kaokaochocolatefactorytour.com/ Down the street is the local market place-Mercado Municipal. This is a great place to see local life at its best and find some great deals. Have lunch at Pancho's Backyard-amazing! PROGRESSO: Sergio's Tours has an amazing COSTA ESMERALDA 5 IN 1 TOUR for $60 per person. Uva our guide stayed with us all day and treated us like royalty. We went to the Cenotes, Flamingos Reserve, Pink Mayan Salts Lake, Mayan Ruins Xcambo, and Beach Club where you can eat and drink all you want. Check it out at http://sergiotours.wixsite.com/sergiotours/naturaleza EMBARKATION: This was rather painless. We arrived at 10:15 am at the port. They began calling groups at 11:30 am and by noon we were on the Lido deck eating. The lines were long for dining, but relax you are on vacation. Do not pack any alcohol because they will take it out of your suitcase. DEBARKATION: This was a nightmare. Stay in your room until they call your deck. Some people got off early and caused everyone to be backed up. There has to be a better way to organize this. They started calling decks around 7:15 am and we did not get called until 9:00 am. We stood in line for an hour before we could get off the boat. Customs was no big deal. Read Less

We had a great time on the cruise but it was not one of my best cruises with carnival. This was my 6th cruise with carnival and this was the 1st one where some on the employees had bad attitudes. Not all of them, but there were about four to five who had bad service. Also there also a bad smell in certain parts of the boat. But other than that everything was great. The onboarding experience was fast moving and we were on the ship having lunch around 1pm. The movie selection at night was great. I think they should keep guy's burger joint open past 6pm, but that's because i love the burgers so much. The variety of food was top notch. They had something for everyone. Also my niece just love camp carnival and wanted to go there all the time. There was no serenity deck but it was still a great time. Read Less

For years, my wife has been wanting to go on a cruise but I was leery due to being prone to motion sickness. After pricing other vacations I realized how affordable it would be to cruise and I needed to face some fears! We decided on Carnival due to recommendations from friends and the nearness of the Port of New Orleans. I decided a 5 day cruise would be best since there was only (1) day at sea before the first port and (1) day at sea on the way back. Embarkation was fast and easy! We arrived at the terminal at 10:30 am and was on the ship by 11:15 am. Once we got on the ship there was food already available on the Lido deck. We ate at Guy's Burger Joint and then had ice cream for dessert. We were able to access our stateroom at 1:30 pm and our luggage was waiting at the door. The worst part of the whole cruise is the safety training, which is mostly the fault of the other passengers not listening to directions. In our Muster area I was right by a speaker and it almost blew my ear off during the safety announcements. I used the seasick "patch" and i'm glad I did. My wife, who has never had a problem with seasickness and has cruised before, admitted that the seas seemed rough. Thankfully, I never felt the first symptom of seasickness. I believe I would have without the patch. There were several other people wearing patches and it was a point of discussion with several passengers who did not know what is was used for. On our first sea day, we had fun laying out on the Lido deck, taking in the sun and eating burgers. Guy's Burger Joint, the Deli and the Pizza Pirate is great! The buffet, not so much. Also, I was fairly disappointed with the Paris dining room food although sea day brunch was great! All of the dining and food staff were exceptional. We talked to several of them and were amazed (and concerned) about the length they stay at sea and the hours they work. They never complained and all do a great job! We had an excursion to Passion Island in Cozumel which was fun except for the hour of rain as soon as we got to the island. We made the best of it and even had time for some brief shopping in Cozumel after the excursion. The next port was Progreso. I would suggest to have a excursion for this port or stay on the ship. Our excursion in Progreso was the VIP to Chiche'n Itza and the Cenote. There was a 2 hour bus ride and annoying people selling souvenirs but this excursion was amazing! The sea day back home was great but bittersweet since it was the last day of our vacation. We made the most of it! The Punchline comedy club was great! I suggest getting to the show extra early or you will not find a seat. We also enjoyed the other entertainment options. The casino was fun the first few days when the slots were loose but then they tightened up and all the fun ended. We were constantly asked to take pictures and as annoying as it was we had some great pics to purchase at Pixels. We purchased the WiFi "Value" package but the service is horrible. Unless you absolutely need to check email, I would suggest the social package and message people using Facebook messenger or some other means through social media. We also purchasing the bubbles package for both my wife and I and I think I would have been better off lugging a 12pk per person than to pay what we paid for the packages. Towards the end of the cruise I was refilling my cup just to account for the cost. Disembarkation was a slower process but not too bad. I suggest eating breakfast prior to disembarkation since there is a lot of standing. We chose express disembarkation and was off the ship by 9:30 am. Customs was fast. There are really clean bathrooms outside at the pickup area once you exit the terminal. Probably the cleanest bathrooms in New Orleans. Some suggestions for first time cruisers: First, read the reviews but only believe about 30% of the negative reviews. Be sure to look at what month and year the review was submitted. Second, if you are prone to or worried about seasickness get the prescription patch from your doctor. Lastly, if you get a drink package, make sure to bring a Yetti cup or some type of large cup. The cups from the bar are small. In closing, my wife and I had a great time and we have already booked our next cruise with Carnival. I have caught the cruising bug! We are going to a few different ports for our next cruise so we will be on a different ship but I would cruise on the Triumph again in the future. Read Less

We purchased the Faster to the Fun and I would recommend it to everyone. We arrived at the ship around 11:00 am and was on the boat by 11:15 am. Our cabin was ready when we boarded, so we were able to put our carry on luggage in our cabins before hitting the buffet. Our cabin had ample amount of room to move about. We had cabin 8388 (balcony) - it was close to the elevators and stairs which was awesome. I would suggest bringing your own hair dryer though. The Lido deck was nice, and a lot of people hung out here most of the time. I LOVED Guy's Burgers - they were awesome-- best meal on the boat by far. I was not impressed by the food in the dining room on Elegant Night at all, we dined in the London Dining room and it was very hot. Our room steward Yogha was awesome.. always called us by name each time he saw us. We also loved the 4 guy band that played by the casino.. they were awesome. Loved the Comedy shows as well. The tribute show to New Orleans was great as well in the Rome Theater. Bar service was good. Cozumel was awesome as usual. We did the Isle Pasion excursion and the beach was beautiful. We went to the beach in Progresso (really don't like this port). Overall our cruise was awesome. We did not travel with children. Read Less

We chose this cruise based on the convenience of leaving from New Orleans, as well as the date. Stayed in cabin 9384 and was pleased with location and cleanliness. We never saw our steward (Papas) in our cabin, but it was always clean with fresh towels and ice.The entire ship was kept very clean, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed most of the food, especially the breakfast buffet, pizza, Guy's burgers and Blue Iguana. The MDR had a few meals that were excellent and a few meals that were disappointing. The MDR soups were our favorite. We enjoyed speaking with Agnes (with the cute dimples) in the Gathering on several occasions. There were several other staff members that we enjoyed speaking with as well...including Alina, Sergi, Arianty, and Marlon in the MDR. Ports were okay. We stayed within the ports when in Costa Maya, Roatan and Cozumel, because my elderly mother's hips were bothering her with too much walking. In Roatan, we took the flying chairs to the nearby free beach (free lounge chairs available). The water was very nice and clean so we enjoyed taking a dip. We enjoyed the Belizian Foodie Excursion which we chose for my mother's sake, as very little walking or sun was involved. We sampled 5 or 6 Belizian dishes that were similar to Mexican food, then took a bus tour through town to a local fruit stand where we sampled 4 or 5 fruits (including a custard apple, which I had never even heard of before). Last, we stopped at an open-air seaside restaurant where we made ceviche. I thought I disliked ceviche, but it was delicious. We also enjoyed a couple of weak rum drinks and an unusual fruit salad that was very good. Read Less

My first cruise with my family. (Children are In Their 20’s)Some amazing experiences exploring the ports and the ship. Roatan was our favorite port because of Bodden Tours and our private tour! Loved Monkey business and playing with the monkeys. Vanilla was $1 at the supermarket and we found an amazing private spot to snorkel. This was our favorite port! We enjoyed the Krazy Lobster in Costa Maya. We made the mistake of “committing” to a beach club before we arrived in the little strip. The taxi driver told us Krazy Libster has bad water. Haha. Just take a taxi to the Krazy Lobster. Free beach access and the best food. Cozumel was so touristy, but we had fun at club Aszu, where there were clear kayaks. Our tour driver in Belize took us to aTravelers Rum and a great tour of the city’witb Anthony. The kids did the Carnival Mayan tour in Belize and they said it was almost 2 hours on a bus and only 30 minutes at the ruins. I loved our place on the ship, deck one riveria mid ship. We were on and off easily and I heard no outside noise. It did get warm on several nights. The food was good, maybe a little blander than we expected. The kids thought it needed hot sauce. I over packed. I would only bring one suitcase next time. People didn’t dress like I expected them to. They were much more casual. Lots of young children too. I will definitely cruise again in a few years. I think this is the way to go with big extended families. Read Less

We chose the Carnival Dream because we been on fantasy class and wasn't too impressed at all. We loved this ship! The only negatives I have is the great restaurants wasn't open long enough at all! On port days they were open till 3:30 but we still had to hurry to get there before they closed. The main reason to pick certain ships is the offerings of activities and food places. Carnival needs to reconsider this option in future to stay open later. Also, I got a voucher first night for a free drink because I am a gold member and wasn't allowed to use it till last night after 5pm! I think that is ridiculous on our 7 night cruise. Carnival should be ashamed for that tactic i love Carnival but things need to be changed I think. I was excited to become a gold member this cruise and it was stingy with a drink they sell all the time. I think there should be better music choices also, newer music on lido deck. The cruise director Lee Mason was awesome! He was energetic and always had activities going on. Please Carnival fix some of these issues! We thought about going with Nowegian to knows in the future. I was pleasantly surprised at the easiness of the boarding of the ship and the organization of the New Orleans port. We got to the port about 10:15 and was on the ship by 11:15. Got on board and started the fun. The drinks were good and off we go at sail time. I will admit the ship needs a little TLC but it will go in dry dock soon so hope it will be for the better. As I looked around I didn't see many young booze cruise type guests and was more pleased at how classy this bunch was. We went to diner the first night and our waiters Fred and Indra was absolutely awesome. After diner we sat out under the stars and watched the big screen movie night with blankets and pop corn. Next day was SEA DAY and overcast for most of the day. The activity director JESS from the U.S. was around to keep everyone happy. Elegant night was this night and I was disappointed that not too many people actually came to diner that night or even took the time to dress up. Wednesday was port day for Cozumel. Now I have been to Cozumel many times before and I have snorkeled before so with that said, we booked the excursion Jeep/snorkel at Punta Sir with the lighthouse and the description was so nice and it seemed the perfect thing to do. Ok well the group was about 32 of us and we all got assigned a Jeep. 2 of the 4 jeeps broke down enroute to the lighthouse, ours skipped out of gear so many times I could have swore we had whiplash. We get to destination and it was very hot that day and most of the people didn't have water with them and almost passed out as he was talking through his speech about the mayan ruin we were looking at that no bigger than a Volkswagon. After that he made us walk further to look at something that resembled the swamp lands of Louisanna looking for an alligator. Im like really? I am trying to be positive, so I kept a smile on my face. After that we are in the jeeps again to drive ANOTHER 30 min. to the excursion to snorkel and have all you can eat buffet. Before arriving I did smell what I thought was sewage smell. Again, I am still at this point in a poisitive state of mind. We all get out of jeeps, walk under this awning area and was told this is where we will spend 30 min snorkeling and then having lunch. 30 min snorkeling? Really?? it smeled putrid so I didn't get in the water. I thought what the heck, ill go to restroom and wash hands,e tc.. The walk to the restroom was about 300 yards away in so deep of sand it was like hiking through quicksand. Get back and ready to eat lunch. I look over to the buffet and ......are ya ready for this people? Huge black birds were eating off the buffet. I kid you not. The dishes were not covered at all and the birds were having a field day. SOoooooooo im not eating and went to get a drink when all of a sudden guess what came out to eat some chips? 3 raccoons! I have videos of the rqcoons. Yep im in the total shock and was beyond livid with all this. We got back to ship and 8 couples had already made a complaint. I will admit, Carnival compensated us back 50%. So my advise on that excursion? DONT DO IT. Next day was Progresso and a friend we met on board advised us to do the All Inclusive Resort of Ocean Reef. So we booked and OMG how amazing this was. The tour guide Alex was remarkable and now a friend. Great food, stiff drinks, pools clean, etc....Back on ship and every night the diners were good. I recommend the Prime Rib. They had that 2 nights. Sea Day on the last day was fun in the sun and a lot of money was raised for the Children of St Judes hospital. Debarking was 2 hrs late and we had some kind of security issue because 2 people were arrested as we got off the ship. All in all I enjoyed this cruise and made so many new life long friends. The ladies at the front had us "LOL". The wait time was very pleasant and short. We were able to go to our room pretty quickly. Ship was beautiful and clean; no odor or anything. Our state room steward, Yandia was coca sweetheart". She knew us by name. Our dining table server ( I sat at both tables) #410 and #412. They were wonderful (I made and Elbert are too funny). Customer service Javanna & Lufuno were very helpful. Estelle never ceased to amaze me. Karoke was great as well. HOLY guacamole excursion with Misheal was great. Everyone i my grpup enjoyed themselves. The debarkation was a mess. The instructiond weren't clear for neither process of getting items from claim department or wheelchair assistance. We chose the Carnival Dream because it was within driving distance and priced within my budget! The process was simple and Carnival was very helpful throughout the process. I even booked and canceled two excursions and money was refunded on both with no problems. I booked a cove balcony (2937) and absolutely loved the privacy. The only complaint was the room was loud at night it sounded like tables dragging above us at night. This is why I only gave 4 stars. Service was great! Carlos our room service guy was super helpful changing batteries in my TV remote and giving us free laundry detergent when the dispenser did not work. Our evening waiter ALAN was the man! He was well read and we had very interesting conversation throughout the week. I actually miss the guy lol! The FLYING SCOTSMAN! The cruise director was amazing. So talented! You must see this guy in person to understand. Entertainment! The ENCORE productions in the evening were the highlight of my day! FLICK was fabulous! You must check it out for yourself! Everyone gave their all to you every evening and I loved it. Excursions and Ports! Montego Bay was terrible but to be fair I didn't book an excursion! I probably read to much about the travel advisory before going there lol! Grand Cayman was awesome did the stingray city and loved it! Cozumel well we shopped and shopped and shopped! My overall experience was great! I relaxed had a good time and met a lot of great people! I will book again! Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the proximity to our home, We could drive, and the date of sail met our needs. We were skeptical after seeing reports on national news about flooding on upper floors due to a broken pipe. No need to worry, the ship was in great shape! We, my wife. daughter and I, shared a room with a balcony, but we had plenty of space and enjoyed the view sitting in our private area. If you don't like people or crowds, don't sail on Carnival! The ship was full of passengers, but never overbearing, just plan ahead for what you want to do. If you want to have fun take this ship! The cruise director is fully engaged, and we enjoyed everything that was available, there was plenty to do all the time.. I had intended to try the Alternative dining restaurants, but the food offerings in the Main dining room were so good I never left; every dish was well cooked and presented; this was the best of any cruise I have taken. Service was great by the staff, friendly and attentive. The other eateries were very good too! Guy's burgers, the pizzeria, the deli, etc., are all good. We did not get to sample all that was available. We still found quiet spots on the ship for alone time. The excursions were good, we enjoyed the Dolphin swim and Stingray city in Grand Cayman, and horseback riding in Montego Bay. Cozumel we made our way around the island with a cab. We scheduled excursions on the ship and were comfortable moving about on the main streets. We would take this cruise again, and hope other Carnival ships are this good. .. . . Read Less

The Triumph is a little dated but the staff is courteous and attention to detail are what brings me back to Carnival again and again. We had a leak in our room and phoned Guest Services. Maintenance was dispatched to our room immediately, the leak sealed and Guest Services phoned to inquire if the repair was to our satisfaction. There were a lot of air blowers in the hallway and the carpet seemed to reek a little. The odor was so strong in certain areas of the hallway that several travelers - including me - covered their noses when passing through. We could tell the staff was making efforts to keep the area dry and minimize the damp smell as those blowers were running all night and day. Entertainment was awesome. The casino was clean. I noticed a few folks smoking in the non-smoking area of the casino but the signs were so small they probably missed them as they were only on the games themselves. Perhaps a larger banner indicating a non-smoking area would eliminate this issue. Ports of call were full of things to do. Cozumel, well nothing needs to be said there. Progresso, well it's progressing. I imagine it'll be a premiere port in a few years. Until then, a map would be appreciated. The shuttle drop off was a crowded marketplace and there was nothing to indicate where the beach was. Read Less

The Carnival Triumph is an older ship. There were signs of rust in places on deck, and the interior decorations do need a serious update. However, the reasons for going on a Carnival cruise have not changed on this vessel: We had Fun! Every where we went on board, we had a good time. The Alchemy Bar was my favorite stop on the Promenade deck. Each evening Jason and Aleksandr worked hard to entertain us while fixing superb cocktails. As Alek shared, "I like this job because I have the best view out my window when I go to work." We had the Chef's Table experience for the first time on this cruise. All the dishes were amazing. And it was a great deal for the price. I have spent double and triple the amount for a tasting course for two people at some restaurants in New Orleans. And the food was excellent. In fact at no time was I disappointed in any meal I had on board. My wife did state that the Rosemary Lamb was not what she expected. Otherwise, we were both pleased with our selections. The Prime Rib was perfect and very tender. I enjoyed both the vegetarian and regular lasagna. The only dessert that disappointed me was the chocolate melting cake the one night I choose it--it was undercooked. Embarkation and debarkation were both what I expected. We arrived at the cruise terminal at 10:30am and were seated in the Lido at lunch by 11:30am. We were lucky to be called early for debarkation because while were in an inside stateroom on deck 7, we were near the suites, so we were called with them as Zone 2. I recommend getting an inside stateroom on deck 7 forward, if you don't mind the sway. We were in 7202. We had a window overlooking the forward deck. It was a quiet space with the bridge right above us. We were rocked to sleep each evening as the ship moved from port to port. I think the only thing wrong with the room was the ceiling light tiles were a bit loose. One did fall during a bit of rough movement at docking. It didn't hit us, and our steward replaced it. I really enjoyed this ship - maybe because cruise length was longer than my previous. I read some of the bad reviews and even had reservations about the poor food sanitation rating earlier on this year.I went with an open mind to have a good time and that is just what happened. Food was great, although the menu repeated itself just a tad.The service and crew was phenomenal. The entertainment was outstanding (evening musical shows) every other night was like a Las Vegas performance. If you are religious or have objections about seeing too much skin, these shows might not be for you. Dance clubs not much was happening, maybe because it was late (11:30) and the crowd was spring break free. The ports were not bad (Cozumel & Progreso). I think there should have been more activities for the adults, that would be my only complaint, but overall a nice cruise. Read Less

First arriving at the Port of New Orleans we took the Carnival Airport Shuttle to make our way to the ship. It was a quick and smooth process to get through security and receive our Sail & Sign cards and easily board the Triumph. When boarding the layout is similar to that of many of Carnival's other ships, so it was very easy to get around the different parts of the boat after a few days. We stay on deck 7 (Empress) towards the middle of the ship with interior rooms. At first, there was some confusion on how 3 guests fit into one room, but after talking to guest services we were informed that they won't bring in the rollaway until that night. The cabin while more on the cozy side was spotless, and had everything you needed because we didn't spend much time at all in our cabin. But when we did the beds were extremely comfortable. The bathroom was very large and clean, but it was very outdated with a pink sink, blue floors, and a large mirrored medicine cabinet. We ate dinner every night in the Lower Paris Aft dining room, our table was on the back starboard side of the ship right next to a large window allowing panoramic views of the ocean and coastline as we traveled. Our servers were all providing excellent customer service and did an amazing job keeping up with anything we needed. The menus while not exclusively listed offered everything from chicken nuggets to escargot. One of our kids being very picky in his food choices asked for pizza and chicken and our waiter gladly got it for him even though there is no official "kid's menu." The meals were all spectacular having food from every port and allowing you to try foods that may have been missed on land. The variety allowed me to try many new things like frog legs, cold asparagus soup, and many other things that were unexpectedly delicious. The entertainment was great when it came to the energetic and attentive cruise director "Jess from the US," and she made everyone feel important throughout the experience. But when it came to the evening shows the magic show was very graphic and should not be attended by children under the age of 12 due to inappropriate costumes, and other (frightening to some) optical illusions. We attended one other show the "Around the World Show," and it was confusing as some parts would be very engaging while others seemed to be right out of a middle school talent show. Our service throughout the entire trip was fantastic and we were catered to our every need, and the ports were good. Cozumel is overly touristy as to be expected, so excursions are a must to get away from badgering salespeople. The Fly High Zipline excursion was great and all the staff did their best to make even the most nervous adventurers at ease, but the "beach resort" that came with it was odd and workers barely spoke enough English to understand simple orders. In Progreso, we took an amazing beach day with Mi Casa es Su Casa and had an amazing time in a private beach unlike any other in the area. While the ship did show its age in certain areas like the bathrooms or atrium, Carnival has been very good at keeping up with it's funship 2.0 upgrades. The dining aboard like the Blue Iguana Cantina gives cruisers great breakfast and lunch options providing delicious fresh food, and Guy's Burger joint a good spin on classic burgers. The Lido Resturant gives a great selection, but has very long lines during peak times like breakfast, but is well worth the wait. I'd suggest when the water gets rougher to visit the aft new world pool because it's much warmer and is less crowded than the main lido pools which can become very crowded. Make sure to get chairs early as this can be difficult, as we woke up at 9:30 one day and were unable to find chairs anywhere but up near the Carnival tail on deck 14. This cruise while we expected to be ok at best provided a great family experience and while it may lack in areas of activity compared to newer ships. It makes up for it in dining, service, and excursions. Read Less

We had an amazing time on the Carnival Dream. The staff was amazing. We loved all the bartenders, when you passed staff members they always greeted you with a smile. Our most favorite was our waitress Olivia. She was beyond amazing and we made sure to ask for her every night. If you are ever on the dream and eat in the cremson dining be sure to ask for her. Food was good some days and not so great other days, but their was always something you could find to eat that you would like. The only problem I had was some peoples children walking around with their foul language mouths and rude, which is not carnivals problem but the parents problem. Loved the comedy shows, they played movies at night on the lido deck, they had an 80s party and a mega deck party. Overall, we had an amazing time and will definitely do it again. The only bummer was we couldn't go to mahogany bay because of the bad weather Read Less

I wanted an easy first cruise for my kids. They had fun in and out of their clubs. Chose faster to the fun and walked right into our suite. Our cabin, the ocean suite is more than big enough for a family of four even with the roll away bed out. Crew did a great job of keeping the ship clean and providing service, even with first day crowds. Could use new beds, ours was a bit harder then expected. Our cabin was always clean with extra towels and our cruise treats and surprises were exactly what we were looking for. Our daughters would check in see the treat tray, load up a plate then go back to playing with their new friends. Even the cherry on top candy store had very reasonable in prices. Our cabin was fairly quiet and we were next to the elevators and stairs on deck 7. Pixels did a great job with our family photos, however i do wish they could scan your card to an account to review pictures at a kioske or similar, would make finding and purchasing photos so much easier or maybe a system like Disney has online. Overall great cruise and we are already looking for our next adventure! Read Less

Great embarkation process, smooth, quick, no problems with my daughter (16) no passport. Small hiccup setting up onboard account, Carnival rep?? kept swiping my credit card and entering numbers manually got a little worried about getting over-billed, so far no problems. Went with 2 of my brothers, one brought his fiancee the other his daughter they seemed to have no problems either. Saw lots of reviews about sewage smell, noticed nothing like that in our rooms on 1st floor, smelled something a little funky on 7th floor when checking out hidden decks, but nothing overpowering. Our cabin (1236) small but were rarely in it except to sleep, my daughter was out till 2 or later most nights. Did not eat in dining rooms. Guys Burgers I'd give a solid B+, I like a burger with a good char on the outside, Maillard Reaction, Guys Burgers seem to lack that but a solid solid food choice. Pizza I'd give an A great crust, great flavor, they keep it simple only a half dozen choices, kind of limiting but generally keeps the service fairly quick. Buffets varied first night great, fresh shrimp, one other night seems like the shrimp were a little off, hard to complain about the buffet though they are what they are, some food was great other food seems like they weren't even trying. Varies from C to B-. Blue Iguana. Great. Awesome. A all the way. Breakfast and lunch. Fresh. Tasty. Great fish tacos. Great huevos rancheros. Deli. Only got pastrami. B good sandwich, could be more meat on it. Chopsticks. Great A- fresh flavorful, very little variety though, they keep it simple and tasty. Went to a few shows comedy magic song and dance not really into that, but they were good. Magic was the best forget the guys name he was funnier than the comedian, my daughter saw a couple shows of the comedian with her kids group and said that after a the first time she could figure out some or the set ups. Went ziplining in Cozumel, ehh it was ok, we've been ziplining a lot so it was an ok experience for us, I hate to sound smug and precious but it was not that thrilling. Would be good for beginners Went to Dzibilchaltun in Progreso, wrote a review on Trip Advisor about it so won't go into it too much, went thru Autoprogreso loved Dzibilchaltun but not Autoprogreso so much. Go to Dzibilchaltun and swim in Xlacah Cenote and explore the ruins. My daughter loves cruising our 2nd cruise, going to try to go again before she graduates so yes plans to go again. Read Less

It was a great cruise due to the great staff. First the Flying Scotsman (Chris Williams) cannot be beat! He did a one hour one man show on the last afternoon that went from Elvis to Italian Opera (an Impossible Dream in between plus many others!). Our housekeeping Team, Arry and Lulu, did everything we wanted and needed! Arry made me a new towel animal every day and let me keep them for the whole cruise. My favorite was a bird in a swing with a piece of bubble gum in his mouth! The wait staff was excellent - Putra, Arlianty (Leah) and Hannifi. Leah gave me extra scallops and made me Mickey Mouse chocolate melting cakes (with 2 ice creams). We had a lot of seafood - even extra lobster tails!!! Putra danced with my grandsons which made it special! With all the eating I was shocked that I had lost a pound! But we also did a lot of walking! Maghogany Bay was an excellent beach especially if you get a cabana but book early! They get sold out. The ecopark on Belize was a good tour as you can see a lot of the lay of the land and hear history of the people of Belize. We just shopped in Cozumel since we had been at that port several times before. We did pick up our bambo sheet set from Cariloha that we won on the Love & Marriage show. The CArnival Dream is VERY big - our first cruise was on a ship with 600 guests which cannot be found any more. I do prefer a smaller ship. The disembarkation was the fastest we have ever done!! Embarkation was even not too bad. We were there at noon. At our age, not sure we will go again but will use Carnival if I do - maybe Cuba??? Read Less

New Orleans is fantastic, stayed 4 nights either side of the cruise. Embarkation was organised and so was disembarkation. I liked :- The ship itself- it’s lovely, the ships decor, cabin was good size with ample storage, cabin steward very nice, dining room, theatre ( good special effects), live band & the brass trio, Guys burgers were delicious as was the smoke house, Indian and Italian lunchtime food. I wasn’t so happy with dining room service being so slow although the staff were super and the food delicious ,the desserts looked lovely but didn’t always taste as good as they looked and I felt they went mad with gelatine in them, our pillows and sheets smelt quite unpleasant and I asked for new pillows but they smelt the same so must have been what they were washed with. I also got small itchy spots all over my arms and legs but my husband didn’t. I thought perhaps I was allergic to the sheets??. They went as soon as we left the ship. Getting on and off the ship was very smooth on excursions. I didn’t think the excursions were good value as they brought you back to ship so early. We went to one place and just had time to get round it quickly then had to head back to the ship which didn’t leave for 3 hours. We went to another which was a beach and spent hardly any time on the beach at all. In future I’d organise that myself. We went to a midnight film and really enjoyed that, perhaps the bar staff could have been a little quieter as they were shouting, laughing and crashing about lol! Luckily not all the way through the film :) The comedy room was really good and very popular- lucky to get a seat in there so paid to be early. The shows were good but the singing was iffy (harmonies mainly) at times. The entertainment director Chris was fantastic, he put his heart and soul into everything he did, he’s such a hard worker! I think I’d opt for anytime dining in the future, we spent so long in the dining room it took over the evenings so we went to the buffet a couple of times. One big gripe was the bar service, not enough staff so long waits at times, then they’d disappear with your card so another wait then sign - why don’t they just scan your card which they do when you get on or off the ship. It would save all the waiting and paperwork. All in all though, we still had a smashing time, we were on holiday so chilled out and went with the flow. The ship is great for kids, they were all having a ball and the special clubs looked fabulous, the waterworks were brilliant too. I must also add that every single time I used a restroom anywhere on the ship they were spotless and actually very attractive, like hotel ones! I’d definitely go again so it couldn’t have been that bad even with the couple of gripes that we had! I’ve tried to be as fair as I can, we really enjoyed ourselves. Read Less

Have been wanting to go on another cruise for years. Friends were booking a trip on Carnival Dream and asked if my friend and I would like to join them. So glad we did. The ship was clean and there was so much to do. It was particularly windy during most of our time at sea but we still enjoyed time on deck and playing the trivia contests in the Ocean Plaza I even won a Ship on a Stick for the Golden Girls Trivia Contest. The movies by the pool at night were really fun. The food was good though not the greatest. However, our servers, Francis and Wenscislaw were wonderful and were more than helpful if we requested something. My one complaint would be the temperature of the hot tubs. Many of them were cool and some were just simply luke warm. By our final night at sea, the hot tub on the Serenity Deck was finally at a decent temperature. I would definitely cruise Carnival again. Read Less

After our last Carnival cruise 4 years ago we said never again! But due to schedules and my vote only counted as 25% we went on the Triumph. What a change Carnival made. Boarding out of New Orleans was terrific-we had a set time and boom-we were on board Stateroom was clean and yes dated but she's an old ship and has some nice character. Staff was terrific-our cabin steward was Edy and he is probably the best we ever had in our 14+ cruises. Formal dining is a thing of the past and I think that was customer driven as people don't want formal anymore-can't blame Carnival for rolling with the times of the people. We ate in the London and the first night was horrible service. The team we had were just plain BAD. After complaining we were seated with two other teams during our cruise and it was great- good food, good service except no wine servers around. The menus have less choices but we got by just fine. Lido had choices and the food was good. Overall the entertainment was great except for Tony the piano bar guy was gross, vulgar and a bully. You want to here a song-better attach a $5 to the request. Adult humor is okay but this guy crosses the line. He's got to be pretty insecure with himself to be that off the norm. The other entertainment was good with a couple of standouts for music a duo of a man and women and a band of singers. Never did we lack finding something to do. The staff of the carnival are fantastic with lots of stuff going on. The cruise director -Simon - was fun and remember peoples name. Very great guy. The ship is dated but still a grand ol' lady and we felt comfortable. Complaint- of the 5 hot tubs only one was bubbly. But it was clean- fun and changed my mind again about carnival. already booked another cruise for this summer. I often wonder-Do the cruise lines ever read these reviews??? Read Less
