We have cruised 6 times with 5 times on Carnival. We chose this cruise on the Carnival Dream for out family reunion which was a Big mistake. The new assigned boarding times was a disaster and had to stand in a very small area in the heat for 2 hours before entering the building with air conditioning. Now they charge $20 for certain items in the dining room and also charge for most items on the 24 hour room service such as pizza and wings. Was not greeted by the room steward until we hunted him down on the second day. Our room frig did not work and we had ordered a 12 pack of water before cruising and had to fight with guest services for 2 days before we got another one. Guests are allowed to dump your personal items such as phones, towels, and bags out of your lounge chairs by the pool if you get out of them to go eat or to the bathroom even if you got up at 7 am to get chairs together with your family. Most frustrating was we had NO air conditioning and had a balcony we could not use dt having to keep the curtains closed and the lights off just to keep the room at 80 degrees. We spent many frustrating hours a day calling and standing in line at guest services with them telling us each day it would be fixed and the 6th day of our cruise they finally said no the air conditioner can not be fixed. They NEVER offered to move us to another cabin and only the 6th night of our cruise gave us a small desk fan. Only one staff ever apologized for the way we had been treated. On a positive note embarkation was excellent and our dining staff was excellent even though the food every day was very bland. This was not a vacation or family cruise for us cause we spent hours in line at guest services and multiple phone calls every day when we should have been enjoying ourselves in addition to the money we spent. went on a 7 day cruise to celebrate my 60 birthday, our 30 wedding ann, and a family vacation, here is a list of my problems 1. problems getting my room key to work right took us over 3x going to guest services to get the problems fix with having guest service come to the cabin and getting maintenance to fix the door and we still had problems with door opening after that 2. our cabin had twin beds in it after requesting a king bed, it took over 5x calling guest services to get beds put together 3. our cabin temperature was uncomfortable and we where given a fan that made a lot of notice and vibrated off counter 4. i got sick and had to go to the medical center and the doctor that i had to pay $125 just to see him, was very unprofessional and did not wear gloves during my visit, the doctor cough, with out gloves, then started to count pills in front of me still not wearing gloves 5. we had to wait 30 min in line for the 1st formal dinning night then once we got to the receptions we where told we had to wait an additional 20min 6. we had a DVD stolen from our room and security guard did a search of our cabin looking in the must stupidest places to see if he could find it 7. carnival web site offer benefits for their members that they do not provide one benefit we did not receive was the appreciation drink on 5+ day cruise that was not offered on my 7 day cruise, the 2nd benefit was a Gold VIP pin on every sailing that was not given 8. the casino on this ship was placed in the middle of the walk way, you had to go though a smokey area before you could get to The Fun Shop on board 9. they stop offered free samples in thier cabins 10. our cabin Stewart was not really that friendly when i first met him 11. i saw posting that they where going to have an American food menu, but the food menu was Caribbean and very spicy 12. they offered a port show for the up coming ports on what to do and what to see, we had 3 ports and the port show was done early the first at sea day that did not give guest enough notice for guest to attend Read Less

To make things clear I am not a fussy person and understand you get what you pay for and can easily adapt to any condition. I have been on several cruises through Carnival and have never experienced such conditions before such as we experienced on the triumph.. I took this cruise April of 2016 thinking that the ship would be clean and taken care of. The cabin had mold in the toilet and you could clearly see the dirt throughout the ship. The water pressure was was so low in the shower and the nob did not work properly as went from extremely hot to ice cold fast. The TV was non funtional. My complaints were met with extra incentatives in my room , like they couldn't be bothered addressing my concerns. The food was average and even the service was lacking. If the waiter did not know you and aware that you tipped it took forever just to get a drink. There were extra gifts in our room to mask the lack of service and cleanliness throughout. The Casino reaked of mildew and smoke smell. I tried to address my concerns to upper management and felt as though it was met with oh well so sad too bad. I will never ever again sail with Carnival as I ended up getting Salmonella poisoning on this trip and was sick for over 2 weeks because of it. Read Less

We have been loyal Carnival customers since 1994, however our cruise last week changed all of that. We have sailed on several other lines but always chose Carnival when traveling with family. We booked four cabins on the Carnival Dream for the March 20 sailing. It was by far our worst experience on Carnival. It started at the check-in process and continued through debarkation. I wish there was one big issue, that would be easy to get over and move on. Unfortunately, it was large number of smaller issues, day after day, that left us with the clear understanding that the senior staff on this ship did not care much for their guests. Listening to all the issues my party had to deal with over the course of seven days brought me to tears. While we all tried to make the best of it, our memories of this "fun" ship are not the ones we had hoped for. Shame on Carnival! Here is just one example: Cabins are cleaned only once a day, our steward explained to use that this is because he is now responsible for twice as many cabins as before. Our four cabins had no soap, only two towels, and no robes. We were told we could call and request these items and he would happy to get them. It made us feel as if we were putting him out to ask for soap and extra towels just so we could shower after traveling to the ship. We got our bar of soap day 2. Even though our party requested to dine together, we were separated. Had to wait in line to get that fixed then and when they did we were move after night one and put in the middle of a huge party. Even though we showed up to dinner on time we were clearly not a priority. We waited over an hour for food so they could tend to this big party. It wen't downhill from there. Read Less

Left port out of New Orleans. Parking was $90 up front before you park. This was organized and very quick from time you pull in the garage to the time you begin boarding. 5 to 10 mins max. Once your on the boat you are immediately in tje middle of the large entertainment area. Dont let that fool you. Its kinda down hill from there. Im not going to bore you with tiny details but there are deal breakers on this ship that reviewers arent addressing and I will.!!! One. The food..... absolutely disgusting!!! I cant reiterate this enough. Im a foody!! I eat the weird stuff on any menu. I love seasoning and flavor...My wife is a chicken tender kinda girl who keeps its very basic..She wont even eat sea food. She could live off of a basic burger and fries. My daughters a vegetarian. Our family covers all the different varieties of eating. We all 3 sat at our table breakfast, lunch and dinner daring each other to taste the last thing we just took a bite of and then laughing once the other tried it. The only seasoning on the whole boat is Salt and Pepper!!. Breakfast... : ( Eggs were absolutely flavorless and had gritty watery grits blended into them. How do you mess up eggs!!. Every item had the freezer burn flavor to it. Unless it was cooked from scratch. God help you on those items. You would never know what the item was by taste. Nothing taste as it should except the salad. They even had watery Ranch. 5 days in a row of this breakfast lunch and dinner.!!! If you eat in the restaurants even the "gourmet" food is the same stuff on the buffet just jazzed up a little more. The server who delivers the food will descrobe it in a rich Italian way making you think its going to change your life... then you bite in and find yourself laughing at the taste again. You will not finish a plate im willing to bet. My son had a veal chop in the restaurant. Laughing while trying to cut it he says " must have been the strongest one in the field" lmao!! Ok youve been warned. Cabins are ok. You have a bed and a bathroom and very good room service who keep everything clean. Cant complain here. The window makes a difference. You will b ed in your room a lot more than you think. I thought we'd be basking in the sun or running around the ship having fun and the room is just for sleeping.... Not on this ship!!! Theres one corney slide that gets old after the first time down.. one corney square pool that should fit 30 peoples on a boat with hundreds of guest?!?!?!. I found 5 round hot tubs. Each hot tub can fit about 7 adults. Thats enough hot tubs for 35 people. EVERYONE IS SHOULDER TO SHOULDER.. 35 people on a bout with hundreds of passangers!!!!! And forget about laying out chairs. Because theres no way to enjoy the pool everyone has to lay out. Again not enough chairs or space. Every free chair has someones towel or sun glasses on them as marked territory. By day two we honestly couldnt wait to get off the ship!!!!!. There were cheesy shows to attend in the evening and then right back to your room out of boredom. Trust me your room matters. Youll be there. Don't get the drink package. Order a bottle to your room. Though $70 fpr Sky Vodka, its the biggest bottle. It will last the whole trip between two people. Even if you have to get a 2nd bottle its way cheaper than the drink prices by tons. Theres just nothing fun to do on this boat. My 17 yo son was bored out of his mind. Our 13 yo daughter stated "i hate cruises" and this was her first!!!! Cozumel.. Amazing and fun. Take the ferry go Playa Del Carmin and you will wish you just flew there and stayed. But.. 4:00pm is coming and fast... after that cry your eyes out.. your going to Progresso Mexico... the arm pit of the world. Everyone is shady and just like your bargining prices they are hustling as well. Example one.. as soon as you get off the boat there are taxis offering trips to different places gor cheaper.. ha!!! Our "tour guide" was to take us to 3 differnt places for $120.. such a deal. First was Meridian City, then the Myan Ruins, then the beach.. Our trip stopped on the first stop.. Why? Because he dropped us off and never came back!!!!!!we were to meet at the drop off point at 12:30 pm. Lol we sat there until 1:30 pm shaling our heads. Caught a cab back to the city close to the boat for $18. That guy made $120 of us on a $18 drive. Of coarse the booth and cabs were gone when we got back. Decided to sit down and eat. I saw a restaurant where everyone was eating lobster. Now this is a crap poor town do im thinking lobster must be free here. Im talking huge lobster tails. First they gave us an English menu. I asked for a Spanish menu. Of coats prices were different. Tacos were $8 on american and 2.50 on the spanish menu. And yes i did the peso conversion. I swear to God 2 lobesters came to $172 American!! We laughed when he brought out our lobsters on a wood block uncooked and verbally gave us a price... my wife who speaks spanish asked an old couple how much their huge lobsters were... $32 combined!!!! We got up and walked out. Went next door and ordered tacos and margaritas. .. then the bill came. 7 tacos, 4 margaritas, chips and guac, $108........ my jaw dropped. The server had it written on a small card. Instead of paying him i walked to the register with him to ensure he didnt write down my CC # for later use. When i began approaching the register he freaked out and started saying something in Spanish to the lady at the register.. she holds up a ticket that he originally wrote on and says to me $65.92.... basically he bumped the price up $40 for his own tip and thought we would tip on top of that. He sheepishly walked away saying that doesnt include my services as if he knew he was caught.we gathered our stuff and got back on that boat faster than crap!!. We hated the rest of our boring trip and vowed to write this review as soon as we had service. Yove been warned! Avoid this ship and destination at all cost. Read Less

I will start off with the only positive about the Carnival Dream. They have on sea days a late breakfast in the tacky dining room from 8am-1pm. Do not go on this cruise if you do not smoke. Casino and night clubs are full on smoking but you can start to smell it 2 floors up from the casino. We had a shower curtain that sat in the sloppy soap scum in our shower because the drain never fully drained. Balcony's are too small. Drinks are really over priced and the drink packages have so many restrictions on them. Boat is overall ugly and tacky looking. You would never know this boat is only around 5 years old, very worn out already. paint chipping off the balcony. Pizza and other garbage laying in the hallways in the mornings after the drunks left it there. Room service menu looks good until you discover that you have to pay for the good stuff, they only offer the sandwiches for free. Buffet is really bad food. We went there the first night because they mixed up our dining time, so we were there around 6ish. And the buffet was closed . They had some cold spaghetti and buns we ate. There is so much more better cruise lines out there. I recommend Celebrity. It's just as cheap and they offer usually free alcohol with it....... Read Less

This was my first Carnival cruise but I have been on six (6) other cruises. I have never had the experience on any other cruise before. My friends and I decided we wanted to go on a cruise. All together there were eight of us; four of them have never been on a cruise before. Everything was great when we first arrived. We were all excited and anticipated the great adventure we were about to partake. Until we arrived in our rooms, One of my friends room actually had lipstick on the sheets on her bed. We were just arriving in the rooms. My room was missing towels and there was a hole in the wall where the light switch was. In addition, in our room we requested our beds to be separated. We brought this to our tenants attentions. My friends sheets were changed, I was told the open hole in the wall was supposed to be there and I decided to forgo on the separating of the beds and my discussion went no where. From there, the dinning experience was horrendous. I have major allergies. When I cruised on other cruises, I always met and spoke with the maitre d, head waiter. We never spoke with him/her. The list of problems in the dinner room where: steaks had no flavor, hot soups were cold, steaks overdone, chicken dry, tea pot had food in it, silverware had food on them, by end of the cruise the steaks had a rancid taste to them. We could not eat it. In the Gathering Room, the eggs were powder and when I asked for a egg and ham omelet, I bit into it to discover it was not real ham. Which I cannot have canned ham, spam, etc. The fruit was bruised, the ham they did have was rubbery. As the days on the cruise lasted, the worse the dinner experience got. The thing that concerned me the most was the fact that they did not have hand sanitize available at the lines. When I questioned why, I was told they were broken and they did not have anymore. I carried hand sanitize and proceeded to pass my out. As far as our shore excursions, we booked our shore excursions for the morning due to I have medical problems that by the end of the day, I am extremely tired. I have more energy in the morning. We were not told that our excursion was moved to 12:30 nor was we told why. It was by accident we discussed this issue. But in all the shore excursions were fabulous. I did have to visit medical once. My friend asked if they could get some tape to tape my toes due to I broke my toes on an excursion. They said I had to go down there to see the doctor. When I got down there, I was never acknowledged or anything. He asked why I was there and I said I needed tape for my toe. He never looked at my toe or anything. Just gave me tape. NO good bye, go to hell, or anything. My friends could have gone down there and picked it up for me. There was no reason that I needed to walk all the way down there just to pay and be handed tape. WOW!!!! The casino and smoking on the cruise was another issue. There was so much smoking in the casino that is traveled to the outlining areas. I have breathing issues and found this to be a major problem. Also, the smoking and e-cigarette smoking rules are not enforced. There was e smoking in the Gathering Sewage smell on our deck due to a sewage back up. DISGUSTING We did not utilize the Jacuzzi on the ship due to they were no warmer than the swimming pool water. At night teenagers would go up into the adult section and utilize this as their make out area. Security was sitting on the other side sitting down. I just walked away. Disembarkation....bring your sense of humor. That is all I can say The thing that disgusted me the most about the cruise my last night. I wiped my body off with a towel that had a huge brown stain on it. I thought I was going to throw up. If you plan on going on this ship; beware... I could not believe how many people where complain. The staff is great but I think they were trying to do the best they could do with what they had I started getting sick on my last day of the cruise, me and two others in my group are still sick after seven days. We all went to the doctor and have either the flu and/or viral infection. I blame this on the fact that there was no sanitation processes going on during our cruise. Read Less

This was our first cruise and we were really looking forward to it. So lets start with day 1. Everything went pretty smooth getting on the boat, except for one rude lady that gave us our boarding pass telling my wife that she looked old. I don't know what the point of that was except just being rude. We get to our suite only to find out that it looks nothing like the photos online. Not just a different layout, just completely different everywhere. You are able to go on Carnival's website and see a 360 degree photo of your stateroom, but this one was obviously from a different boat. Different desk, an additional wall, no end tables beside the beds couches and chairs different, smaller desk area, tiny tv, not the wall mounted larger flatscreen pictured, stained carpets, two twin beds pushed together and different heights. Just a total misrepresentation. Kind of disappointing when you purchase the nicest suite on the whole boat. So I walk out to the balcony to check it out only to get sprayed by a yellow hose going full blast handing from a rope from a higher deck. Yes, now I'm soaked and our luggage hasn't arrived yet to even change into something dry. Thanks Carnival! I'm not too tall (5'10") but I wasn't able to wash my hair in the shower without having to crouch down. And if you are over 6" I don't think you would even be able to stand up straight without hitting your head on the ceiling. So later we try to get into a better mood and go to the dining hall later only to get served cold food. Must just be a fluke since they serve hundreds of meals here for dinner a night. Spoiler: food was cold every night! I ended up purchasing unlimited sodas only to find out that means standing at one of the 2-3 open bars on the boat for 5-15 minutes to even order one of your unlimited sodas. And no, they won't hand you a can to put in your fridge for later and unlimited sodas actually means only one per 5 minute interval, so if you want two then you are stuck waiting 5-15 minutes again for another one. We tried burgers and the Mongolian wok for lunch the next day. I'm not sure the burger was made of beef as I've never tasted one like that. At least there were condiments to drown out the taste. And the amount of meat was minuscule per serving at the Mongolian wok. That night we tried the pizza after our food was cold in the dining hall again. It was probably the best non breakfast food available. We tried dinner in the dining hall every night except for one only to receive cold food every time (except for a single soup that was an appetizer). We ended up purchasing the internet package for a couple days only to find that it barely works in our room (took over 15 minutes to connect every time vs about 3 when outside our room). Not to mention that the speeds are ridiculously slow and the pages would time out often. I tried uploading a 15 second video to Instagram and it took 5 tries and over 45 minutes while doing nothing else. Also, internet is for one device at a time only. We were happy with our destinations and had a great time on the excursion that we purchased from Carnival. I don't think that our excursion would have been as good if we found a different one somewhere else. But that was only a few hours of a day compared to all the time we were on that boat. We spoke to several people working on the boat while we were there (most of them being quite nice) who mentioned that they would much rather be working on a different boat. I don't blame them. Overall, not a fun experience. We felt like it was a bait and switch on our room. We definitely did not receive what we paid for. And the food was just not what we were expecting (cold and tastes bad). I just got off the phone with carnival expressing my concerns and was offered a $25 credit on board another one of their cruises. I don't think they got the hint when I told them 3 times that we wouldn't be sailing Carnival in the future. P.S. The best part of the boat was the public restrooms on the 7th? floor. They were very nice, clean, and empty every time we were in them. Much better than what was in our suite! Read Less

I have sailed on quite a few Carnival ships and always had a good time until recently. The last few cruises seem to be going down from what carnival used to be. I am Platinum. I have just returned from sailing on the Elation and I must say it was the worst cruise I have ever been on. We sailed from Feb. 20 to the 25th. Guest used to be treated so nice, now they are treated like cattle. We arrived to find our room had a large fan drying the floor. The fan was not removed until late Saturday night. We did not meet the room steward until Tuesday and then just happened to run into him in the hall and asked who he was. When we arrived, there was a half roll of toilet paper on the roll. , Sunday morning at about 2:00 a.m. I had to go to the public restrooms and get more toilet paper because none had been left in the room. Has it gotten that bad Carnival? Are you having to cut corners that bad? The service was terrible, no one looked happy to be there with the exception of one or two waiters and maybe the cruise director. The food in the main dining room was terrible, I could have gotten better shrimp at Captain D’s. The warm melting cake was neither warm nor melting. It was cold and just chocolate cake. The cocktails seem to have no alcohol or are just watered down so you can’t taste or feel the liquor. I had four the first day before dinner and had no effect whatsoever. I realize this is an older ship, but the shops were closed, you could not check the menu or review your folio from the room. I know this was a cheap cruise, but it was really bad. I have just booked my next cruise and it is on Royal Caribbean. I don’t know if I will sail with Carnival again due to what I have seen them become on the last three cruises. Read Less

It took many years to convince my wife to take a cruise do to her fear of water. She finally gave in to give me my birthday wish. So we started our cruise to Cozumel on the 4:30 Jan. 14 2016 cruise. Once we entered our cabin we were shocked about how out dated it was, but that was ok because we were not in the cruise to stay in the cabin. It was the first cruise we have taken. So we left the cabin and went straight to the Lido deck to meet with the other two couples we were vacationing with. We herd so much rage about all the food that you can get on a cruise. But ounce we looked, it was a long line just to get cold, bad tasting hamburgers and hot dogs. Herd I should try Mingoliain grill but the lines were to long. Wife and I decided to take a tour of the ship. We were always told that the ship was so big you could be on it with someone you know and never see them. That was wrong, we tour the whole ship in less than two hours. We then went back to the lido deck and had fun singing and dancing with the DJ I think he was called DJ DJ. Our friends set the dinner for 8pm. Which we find to late to eat, and be healthy and fit. We like to eat dinner by 6pm. So during dinner I just had a couple of beers. We then went to the comedy show, it was good and then to the club and it was small but ok. Then some of the same thing on Friday. Got to be a little boring, looking at the same thing and same cold same smelling food. I began to wonder why all the food smell the same. So we lost our appetite. We couldn't understand why all the food had the same smell, witch made us feel sick. So we went to the cabin and ordered wings and a tuna sandwich. Tuna was very good but the wings had that smell! Once we got to Cozumel it was very nice but very short. We cruised so long to just have a few hour to enjoy Cozumel. Once we got back on the ship and began our way back the captain announced that we will be going threw so bad weather. So starting at about 7:30pm Saturday it started raining. We did go to the captains' dinner and we really enjoyed that and our waiter but couldn't eat the food for that smell again! But wife love the pictures. So much that she bought $200 worth. That knight the weather got really bad. We found ourselves being thrown around the cabin like rag dolls for over 18 hours. We were going threw 25 foot seas. We were asked to stay in our cabins as the ship was just tossed around like a toy for hours. Keep in mind our cabin was on the 4th floor called the Riveara and we was in the second cabin from the front of the ship. It was so bad the crew said they were sick and never been threw anything like that. Then came a knock at our cabin door. The crew needed to close the port holes. That really made us very uncomfortable. I tried my best to keep my wife calm do to her really bad fear of water but feeling the ship being tossed around and hearing the loud banging from the rough seas, I began to wonder if our first cruise would be the last thing in life. But finally after 7pm Sunday we made it threw the storm. Just to tell you a little about me its my job to know about weather. I know that by taking the path we took back kept us in what you would call the training affect of the storm, had we went a little further west, it wound not have lasted so long, because we still was 4 hours and 15min. late. But we made it. Thank GOD! But by us arriving 4 hours late all the passengers had to go to the upper decks so the crew can start getting ready for the next crew of passengers. Now here is the grand finally. Just as we started to dock the captain had to turn the ship around to port. He must have forgot all the passengers that were wait to get off where up top and he turned to fast. That's when the ship began to capsize to one side, all the dishes, furniture, and passengers flew to the right side of the ship. Even people who said this was their 16th and some 30th cruise, said these things have never happen on any cruise they have ever been on. It was just our luck that our very first time would have to be like that. Hope they at least kept one of those pictures pictures that my wife didn't buy. Because that's the first and last time they will ever se us. By the way we eat out everyday at different places, so we know good food when we eat it. That was not it! Read Less

I have traveled alot and I have never written a review however I felt I should for this trip. First, the interior rooms were tiny. A queen bed with 2 fold down bunks from the ceiling with uncomfortable mattresses. I hit my head on the bunk so many times that my friends started joking about brain damage. One time I hit my head so hard it nearly knocked me out. Tall people should absolutly avoid the interior rooms especially since i am 5'5". Second the food was okay but after being rudely ejected from the dining room because one of our group was in very neat shorts and Polo combo made me extreamly uneasey about eating in the resteraunt since Mauricio the resteraunt manager kept obviously making comments about us to other staff every time he saw us the rest of the cruise. In fact we tried to tell him we didn't realize that it was dress up night. But the hostess missed the shorts in our party of 4, the staff seating us missed the shorts as well as our waiter. But Mauricio saved carnival by ejecting us while others sat in shorts. Furthermore he commented to our party "Oh only he has to leave. You can stay." Really!!! 3 women can stay but the only man in the group was required to leave. It ment enough to carnival to rudely kick us out after being seated and given menus.... Third when a passenger goes to customer service to make a complaint and say the capt. or cruise director did not make any customary announcements about elegant night, it was only printed in the daily schedule in 1 line on the back of the schedule which none of our group noticed and third your staff didn't help us by telling us prior to seating us. Instead we walked up to the service desk and asked to speak with someone but was given no other explanation. She called someone... we now think it was Wade.... hung up and stated... "it's been noted! No worries!" We asked what's been noted? She said "your incident. No worries No worries" We stated we asked to speak to someone not for you to express your no worries. I am glad the incident happened to my friend. He was composed during the whole event. I would have been screaming back no worries damage control (expletive expletive expletive ) sack of expletive.... So we never spoke to any one and felt uncomfortable the rest of the cruise! That was the only true vacation I have afforded myself to take as an adult and I spent half of it hoping something nasty wasn't done to my food! P.S. the intercom in our room did not work so we had to run to the door and stand in the hallway to hear announcements! Read Less

This was my first cruise but my friend has been on several, and admitted that this was by far his worst experience. The food was DISGUSTING (and neither of us are picky) and the hours of operation for most of the food options weren't that long. There aren't a lot of interesting activities, especially if it's raining. We walked around, desperate for something to do, but just weren't interested in the towel folding demonstrations and Puffy Eye seminars on the agenda. I observed a lot of the crew and, with the exception of two, they all seemed empty and miserable. They said as little as possible and were even rude to guests that were just trying to be friendly. The man who serviced our stateroom was super friendly though, although I was shocked they don't throw away trash -- he even kept taking trash out of our trashcan, but not sure if he was just being funny. I enjoyed Cozumel and heard the some of the shore excursions were fun. We had a stateroom with a window, but it was too dirty to really see well out of it, so I wouldn't bother with the money. Just really not worth the cheaper price to be stuck in the ocean on a very rocky ship with a miserable crew and nothing to do. Would not recommend Carnival! Read Less

We arrived at the terminal on time. Since I have a handicap my wife and I were told to have a seat in an area where someone would come and get me with a wheel chair. We waited for over an hour and none of the Carnival employees knew how to help us. The original person who told us to wait disappeared. No one ever showed up. Not a good start and not a good way to handle handicapped passengers! I took the chance and went up the escalator and painfully walked with my cane till we finally got someone to help us get a wheelchair and get us on board. This ship is very outdated! Rust on the bathroom shower trim, worn carpet, scuff marks on the walls, stale smelling room. The food by the pool was good. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, etc.. We only ate at the buffet once for breakfast, it was terrible! Greasy half cooked bacon, powered eggs used for our omelet, and burned coffee! After this experience we always dined in the dining room. The food there was usually good. Plenty of smokers onboard this ship. Lots of loud and rowdy passengers. This ship was like a floating Wal Mart! I do have to say the staff was always nice. Read Less

WE have cruised nearly all the ships owned by Carnival. This is our 22nd year of cruising Carnival. It all started when we went to casino. The stench was so bad that 200 feet from casino the smell was overpowering. The stink could be smelled on decks above and below the casino. I complained to Miami. My point was to them that why should 5% of the population ruin the cruise for 95%??? Their asinine point was people who like to smoke like to gamble. The sewer smell was on the aft portion of deck 8 and 7. It smelled absolutely like overflowing sewer. This complaint was raised several times with no results. Food was horrible!!! After two days all tasted the same. Desserts looked good but no matter what you ate tasted the same. Employees were extremely nice. Read Less

We spent 7 days on the Dream and had to endure sewer gasses all week. Three out of the 7 nights I woke up nauseated by the oder. We told our Stuart about it and his answer was to sleep with the balcony door open. I called guest services and they sent us a fan to have circulate the air. I complained 3 times. They did acknowledge they had a problem and thought they had other fixed, but it wasn't. We ended up getting a 15% onboard credit and 10% off a future cruise. They also said we needed to call corporate. Some are calling and getting an additional 5%. That depends on who you get a hold of because others are not getting any additional. I haven't even mentioned how nasty the boat was. Our curtains in our room had dried food on them, cigarette burns and black grease on them. Our comforter had a stain of what appeared to be old blood and the floors in the room and hallways are terribly stained and the pool was closed for 2 days. Other couples had rooms that would not cool any less than 78 degrees. They were told to take the vent off to get more air. This ship needs to be dry docked and repaired. The best part of it was the nice crew. I hope the terrible condition of the ship does not reflect on them. They were all great! Read Less

I was Sooooooooo excited to go on my first cruise:) And left disappointed and confused why this is all this rave about cruises. The food was so terrible, that I was on Pep-to Bismol night 2. For the breakfast buffet, they pulled ham out of a water bucket...UGH! The best food I had was an omelet, hot dog, and the Steakhouse (which the Steakhouse was incredibly SLOW even with a reservation)! Night three I felt like I had a rock in my stomach and couldn't eat anything for the next 2 days. Then I though I would try the deli, thinking maybe that would be ok...I couldn't eat it. The Deli gave a a slab of cheese that you could pick up and it wobbled with warm bread (I took one bight and about upchucked. The servers were rude, which shocked me...I was always told the service was great! I love stand-up comedy, so we went to a couple of shows. However, we walked out not even 10 minutes in because they were horrible. I didn't even get a good laugh out. Except for one, who was an amazing funny Hispanic guy. The ship only has 2 pools which are SMALL...and I mean SMALL!!! I went to have a beer and relax in the pool, a bunch of kids start splashing around (no problem), but I want to relax so I go to the other side of the boat "thinking that it must be the side with just adults"...NOPE! So, there is NO adult only pool area! So, I was in a pool for 20 minutes on they entire cruise. If you wanted adult only area, you had to go to a small upper deck with nothing but chairs. The Ports were NICE! Really enjoyed they Excursions, but every time on the way back in all I could think is "Oh god, I have to get back on that ship". There are hidden fees as well, which no one tells you from the Casino to Drinks! I spent a grand in the casino (made not a DIME)...the casino sent me COOKIES! Really, Cookies? WTH! After spending a crap ton for the cruise and getting charged a crap ton while on it...I cannot believe that was my vacation! I don't feel relaxed, I feel jipped! All my co-workers are telling me to try Royal or Norwegian before I say NO to cruises, supposedly they are suppose to be way better...I think I am to scorned though. The one night I just really wanted to get away, I did go up to the Serenity deck to sit in the Hot-tub and stair at the stars. There was a 17 year old kid in there drunk with a bucket of beers behind his heading blabbing about how this was his 12th cruise with mommy and daddy! I thought it was adults ONLY...and how in the hell does a 17 year old get a bucket of beers? So, needless to say after having to listen to annoying crap...I got out 10 minutes later! Pros: Cabin was nice (and so was our cabin attendant), and the shows (in the main room) pretty good! Read Less

Living only an hour from the port, we look forward to our Christmas Carnival cruise, however this year's cruise may well be our last on the Elation. Since we are platinum cruisers, this was probably the smoothest embarkation and debArkation process of all our cruises. Unfortunately, there aren't many other compliments I can give about this cruise. Evidently, with the recent "upgrades" to the ship, cruisers have limited controls over cabin temperatures and no controls over airflow in the cabin. After contacting our cabin steward a second time, we were told the cabin temperatures are kept between 71 and 74*. Only once during the cruise did I notice anything more than minimal airflow through the ceiling vent. We decided to try "Your Time Dining" this cruise. Unless you arrive at the dining room near the beginning of end of the dining room opening, you will likely be given a pager to notify you when a table is available. Our wait was anywhere from :20-:40. Not a problem, just be aware and plan accordingly. Service in the dining room was definitely lacking on this cruise. Our first night, Randy was our server...he was terrific! Thereafter, service was slow, to the extent that food was cold and servers seemed to disappear. At brunch on our last full day, it took :30 for our server to bring bread to our table, the tomato soup was barely room temperature, and the pork chop was cold. For supper that night we requested Randy. In hindsight, we should have done that for the entire cruise. Our cabin was on the Empress deck below the galley. On the first and last night, we were awakened by crew in the galley at 3 a.m. It sounded like they were dropping plastic buckets on the floor. After being awakened the first night, I slept with ear plugs, however I couldn't do that on the last night because I needed to hear the alarm in the morning. This was our first time getting off the ship in Progresso. It was a short 2-3 minute walk to the bus stop and a :15-:20 bus ride into town. We decided to have lunch at a downtown restaurant. The food was pretty good and the prices were reasonable. With weather threatening, we decided to get back to the ship, so we didn't do much walking around. I don't think we missed much. Progresso seems to be a very poor town. Having been to Cozumel before, we decided to stay on the ship. We did enjoy the Christmas sing-a-longs in the atrium and Christmas trivia games near the Drama Bar. I don't remember these on previous cruises to the extent they occurred on this cruise. Unfortunately, unless things change, we won't be sailing with Carnival next year. It might be time to give Royal Carribbean a chance. Very sad. Read Less

This is by far the worst vacation I've ever taken for three main reasons: 1.) The food was absolutely horrible. I literally cringed every time I went to eat. The best part of going to a port of call was to get a descent meal! I'd try to compare the food to a major restaurant chain, but I've never been to a restaurant that had food this bad. 2.) The hidden fees are ridiculous! The crew will leave you literature on what is appropriate to tip the house keeping staff. What they won't tell you is that they will automatically add gratuity to your bill at 3am in the morning a night or two into your cruise. So if you'd already been tipping the staff you'd essentially tip double the amount without knowing it. And the fees aren't cheap! For our 7 day cruise it was around $168 dollars! 3.) What they call gratuity is actually just another fee! Someone needs to give carnival a dictionary and tell them to look up the definition of gratuity! They seem to think that their staff is entitled to 15% regardless of the quality of the service that they provide! Gratuity is supposed to be something extra decided upon by the CUSTOMER to reward a employee when they provide good service! It's NOT something you're entitled too! I will never cruise again! You couldn't pay me to take another cruise! It wasn't a vacation! It was a PUNISHMENT!   Read Less

We got back from our trip to Cozumel & Progreso on July 26, this entire cruise sucked! It was a total disappointment. From the food to the entertainment. The kids that were on the boat had more fun then the grown ups. Who wants to go on a cruise to play trivia games all day? This cruise is for a much older crowd and for families. A lot of the people I talked to said they would not chose this ship again. I went with three of my friends if it wasn't for us entertaining ourselves we would've probably stayed in the room majority of the time. I expected to enjoy myself from the time I stepped onto the ship, boy was that a complete let down. I'm 40+ I don't want to sit around playing trivia games, watching musicals, or listening to mediocre music. When we booked the cruise we wasn't allowed to know what the itinerary was so it was a huge disappointment to see some of the activities that were scheduled. Trivia, jewelry sales, bingo, more trivia, karaoke, more trivia, more jewelry sale, gambling tournaments, etc. Really? Who wants to do that all day everyday! Come on!! If I had of known that this cruise was 85 percent of families I would have chose Royal Caribbean or a different ship with carnival! This was by far a waste of my hard earn money! I could have done those things at home. REGRET REGRET REGRET!!!! The only decent time we had was off the ship for a few hours at each port!! Read Less

My girlfriend and I were so excited to embark on our first journey with Elation. We had never been on a cruise before and heard Carnival was a affordable and entertaining. Boy, were we wrong. We made the biggest mistake signing up for this cruise! NOT WORTH THE MONEY WE PAID I'll admit I am pretty open minded when it comes to trying new things . But I will never attend another Carnival Cruise. Here's why: Embarking: We were herded around the registration lines like cattle. Very unorganized and hot! We were drenched in sweat by the time we boarded. Before we boarded Carnival was trying to pitch us to buy something and this didn't stop until we got off Elation. Room: First off, we could barely get through the door but once we did it. The room was so cramped. It was difficult for 2 people to stand at the same time. We had to crawl to get over the bed to look out the window. It smelled musty and was hot/humid the entire trip. I don't think it had A/C. However, a stateroom steward was very helpful and kept the room clean. The bathroom was also small. The shower was the only bright spot. Food: I read another critic say it's "elegant hospital food" and that's so accurate. We're pretty flexible when it comes to dining options and we chose the Your Time dining. But I've got to tell you..this was some of the worst food we've ever eaten. Most of the time it was either luke warm or tough. Portion sizes for the shrimp cocktail was comical, The fries were soggy and the hamburger tasted so bland. You have to pay extra to get soda or sweet tea with dinner! What a rip off?!! Plus, the water was usually served without ice and the waiters poured the glass half full. I highly recommend the any time dining options because you can mingle with different people. Plus, you don't receive any special accommodation for the set time. The elegant night reminded me of a bad highschool prom. It's a cluster of people dressed in cheap attire that want to stop at every corner to have their picture taken by cheap photographers and pay $12 for it. This also is a logistics nightmare. The pizza buffet is a joke. How does someone mess up pizza??? They manage to do so! Very long lines in the self-serve stations. The sandwiches were good but it took 20 minutes to order. The “room service” is the biggest hack job. They claim it is “free” but we received a $6 room service fee to deliver. The peanut butter sandwich was awful. Customer Service: By far the most disappointing aspect of the trip. We've vacationed at resorts, casinos and water parks and have never seen anything like Carnival Elation's staff. Most of them couldn't speak English and those who could didn't want to talk to you. I felt like we were one big burden on the wait staff. Many times, they wouldn't acknowledge our existence. Waited on average 10 minutes to get a drink at the various bars. When we did, they would pour very small portions of alcohol. Not one employee thanked us or asked how we were liking the cruise. The departure was another cluster with employees standing around and not directing anyone. You would think they’ve never exited a ship before. Entertainment…OR LACK OF This is a joke..Not a single came without a informercial attached to it. Every show was ridden with a sales pitch attached. Pushing the cheap products and gimmicks. The cruise director came on the loud speaker and “pitched” deal at least 3 times. Didn’t offer any insight on the weather or where we actually were. Very annoying! The highlight of the entertainment was the acoustic guitarist Edward. He had a huge collection of songs. The biggest disappointment is lack of entertainment outside. The pool stage that is promoted on all the commercials and looks so exciting house 4 cornhole games..I mean, come on! What a joke?? Every night had decent weather and would have been a perfect time to host an outside concert. Instead everyone is packed like sardines in the main lobby area. The Rock n Roll show was decent but a little provocative. Not suitable for children. We waited 45 minutes for the comedian to come on and he told 25 minutes worth of jokes that were not funny. He fumbled through the intro as well. I literally didn’t crack a smile during the routine. The Game show was somewhat entertaining but also cheesy. The music was controlled by someone’s iphone and the 1 of the buzzers didn’t work. The prizes were comical and the grand prize was coupon book! They promoted some other sales event the following day for at least 5 times. I can’t fathom how people rate this cruise 5 stars! This was one big infomercial sales pitch followed by horrid entertainment! Port of Call: First off, we were two hours delayed leaving New Orleans. The captain ensured us to would affect our time in Cozumel. However, we were an hour late arriving and it took close to two hours to get off the boat. One would think Carnival would master exiting the vessel but obviously they still need work. Cozumel was so much fun but we only had 6 hours to explore. DO NOT waste your time/money on Carnival excursion. The local ones are much more affordable and frankly I wouldn’t give another dime to Carnival. Drinks: The biggest rip off! Way overpriced and the 2 drink offers come with a catch. The soda drink offer limits a person to 5 soda’s a day. I’ve never seen anything so cheap! Anyone with kids knows they can drink 10 cokes in a day. The alcohol “Cheers” card is a decent deal but you’re limited to 15 drinks per 24 hours. Once you hit 13 they will freeze your card or start charging you full price without saying anything. This is a good deal if you drink for than 5 drinks in a day. In summary, someone would have to be crazy to book a cruise with Carnival! Take these reviews seriously. It seriously is the worst experience of my life. If you already booked with Elation. Please do yourself a favor and cancel or change the trip if you can. I have never been more disappointed in my life. I am amazed Carnival is profitable..this cruise is the biggest scam around. They charge you for everything and you will spend twice as much money. Do yourself a favor and take the family to the beach, Disneyworld or anywhere else for vacation! You can have more fun at a fraction at the cost.   Read Less

We just got off the cruise ship Elation out of New Orleans and I must start by saying this, What the hell were they thinking.. This ship was built in and or around 1996 and it looks like the 60's and 70's through-up all over the ship. The colors and the boat itself makes you want to jump over and swim home after being on board a few hours. The ship is very run down and just very hard to look at, There were dishes left all over the place, down hall ways, around the ship and in the dinning areas ( good luck finding a table ) unless you want to clean one yourself. The food was not very good at all, Well ok I will take that back 10% of the time it was ok. You could tell by the taste of it that it was powdered, Microwaved, or frozen and reheated, just nasty. 65% of the staff looked as if they hated there jobs and being there and we not helpful or friendly at all, that is when you could get on away from the group they were talking and cutting up with. The best part of the cruise was getting off the ship ( Thank God ) Mexico was beautiful and is a must see. Beautiful blue water, friendly people, and so much to do in the very short time before the ship rushes you back on board and another night in hell on the 60's cruise ship. I don't want to sound all negative here but I really do not have to much good to say about this ship, its staff, or the way they run it ( Nasty), But the Desserts were very well put together and hey the ice cream was good ( when there was any ). This was our first cruise and if I can offer any advice to anyone ELATION is not the one you want to go on if want a good experience. Pick another cruise line and hope it is better. The Cabins were ok ,the Tv did not work but we had a window, and the person doing the room cleaning ( Ninno) was awesome he was the high light of the whole trip... Best of Luck.... Read Less

More bad than good. This was my 8 year old daughter and I's second cruise. Our first cruise was with Royal Caribbean and we LOVED every minute of our cruise with that cruise line! So I was super excited to go again this year, But I wanted to try Carnival Sunshine because it had been newly refurbished. We read a lot of bad reviews about the ship but silly me I didn't heed others warnings! The embarkation process was perfect. The lines weren't to long and we got on board quickly. Lets start with the food: The food on board the Carnival Sunshine is mediocre at best. The fine dining had some good dishes and we really enjoyed our server Ana from Honduras but most nights it was bland and tasteless. Guys burger joint was average, The taco bar was better. The Lido Buffet had great desserts but lacked greatly in variety. They had two buffet stations with the same thing on each side of the buffet and on both the buffets. So maybe 6 choices per day. Also one night there was sewage running through the lido buffet. I have it on video. There was the deli bar. I could have made the same thing out of my fridge. During the day you could eat at the Italian place or the Hibachi place and they were okay as well. Nothing outstanding. The pizza was good but you got tired of pizza after the second day. Room service was horrible. Hot food was served cold and cold food was luke warm. They also didn't have much of a selection. The biggest complaint I have with the food is that after 6 pm and late into the night there was absolutely nothing to eat. Yea you have all night pizza but again... 2 days and your done with pizza, couldn't eat room service cause it sucked and all they served on the Lido buffet into the late night was hot-dogs. Yep hot-dogs. nothing with the hot-dogs except mustard or ketchup oh and sauteed onions. Didn't even bother to offer chips or french fries just big honking hot dogs. Did I mention that this was my birthday cruise? I booked 3 excursions, one for each day. Planned them carefully and paid for them online before my trip. Day one, walk into my stateroom and a green note propped up beside my towel animal says "Your excursion is cancelled." Okay I'm easy to get along with, I go down to the desk and I book another excursion for my family. Of course its more money because the cheaper excursions have all been sold out. Next evening I get another notice, the excursion that I booked was cancelled. We go into Jamaica without a formal excursion. That night I get another notice my Grand Cayman Excursion for my birthday is cancelled. This was a snorkeling excursion. I go down again and re-book another more expensive excursion. I get no apologies or hey can I get you a free drink, I just get a bad attitude and am forced to pay more money. The next day we go to Cayman and visit a turtle farm. My grand snorkeling adventure is in a man made lagoon. :-( Yea I came thousands of miles to snorkel in a man made lagoon. NOT! We get back to the boat and you guessed it... A green slip of paper under my door (no clean room, no towel animal for my 8 year old to get excited about) tells me that my Cozumel excursion is cancelled! Of course they know me by name now at the Excursion desk and swear to me that in all their years this has never happened! I'm in tears by now because my cruise has been nothing but a bad investment and do they offer me anything? no. So my daughter and I are once again forced to find our own way around a foreign country and I end up spending twice the money I would have if my original excursion wouldn't have been cancelled. I went to customer service each time I had a problem and this is what I was told. "I will document the problem." Documenting the problem did not help my situation is what I told them and they just said that's all they could do. Also think of it like this... I did not spend thousands of dollars of my hard earned money to spend half of my trip standing in line on a cruise ship talking to customer service people!!!!!!! This was my vacation and I should have been enjoying my self by relaxing or having fun!!!!! I had already spent time at home online planning all of this!!!! If they had any pride in their business they would have given me a full refund for my time and trouble!!!! But no. Did you know that Carnival Sunshine drains the pools on Saturdays during your cruise??? I didn't. They did. My 8 year old was all set to go swimming Saturday evening and the pool was closed. All the pools were closed! Hello Customer service... Why are the pools not in operation? Uh I don't know. I'll document the problem. Seriously? Already the one main pool that was way to small to accommodate the amount of families on the boat was a hazard but then to shut it down on the last night of the cruise? Crazy! The big water splash area they brag about in their videos. Only open from 11 am to dusk, its closed if it rains, it rained 1/2 of the time we were on the cruise. Finally someone said they shut down the pools on Saturdays to clean it for the next cruise, Well the pools are supposed to be opened until 3 am each night. Why not close the pool at 3 am on Saturday night and clean it from 3 am until 11 am when the next group of passengers get on board? Wow! Are they that stupid to not figure that out? Yes, Yes they are. Camp Carnival. First of all I'm a teacher assistant as a profession so when I went to look at the Camp Carnival area I really had high expectations. Pretty much a floating one star day care facility. It was small like every other area and I felt sorry for the kids who's parents put them in there. My daughter did not stay. We did attend a build a pet event there one day, which was pretty much, give us your money, go sit over there and put some stuffing in a bear. My daughter probably has 20 Build a bear animals, You pay for the experience of someone helping you out, kissing the heart and helping you stuff and sew up your bear. There was no one there to explain to us what we were doing so I went back into the buying area and asked for someone to come in the room and give a demonstration to us parents on what we were doing. They were rude and acted put out that we wanted assistance but briefly explained the procedure and then left to go collect more money from clueless parents. We (parents) all kind of helped each other figure out the process and our kids left with fully stuffed and clothed bears. I paid 42 dollars in all for that lovely experience. Good things? I enjoyed the entertainment shows. The 8 person song and dance troop was exceptional and the comedy club was a nice addition. The ship is planned out badly. I cannot count the times I got lost and could not find my way! You often have to go through other venues to get to where you need to go. I was almost in tears one night because I couldn't find my way! The shopping areas are tiny and crowded. The people in the shops were rude and unhelpful. I can't count the times I stopped someone with a carnival shirt on and asked them where something was and even they didn't know where it was!! So here's the wrap up, The food is below par, The service is below par, The ship is small and confusing. The entertainment on the ship is Trivia and Karaoke. If you have never been on a quality cruise before and your only experience is with Carnival you may be satisfied but this is not worth the money I spent knowing I could spend the same amount on Royal Caribbean and have dozens of choices on the buffet, excellent room service, great activities for all different types of ages on board ( We especially liked the crafting classes in the cloud 9 lounge) 2 main pools and 4 hot tubs that never get drained during the cruise, exciting entertainment, great customer service and rooms with more space and better quality furnishings. Did I mention you had one foot in the shower when you used the toilet on Carnival Sunshine? Don't waste your money... run far away from Carnival! Oh yea... last visit to the Customer service desk.... they gave me a free pack of Carnival playing cards.... Yay! A three thousand dollar pack of playing cards!! Read Less

This was our 4th cruise with Carnival and I was really disappointed. First, when we arrived in port, my mom was separated from our group to sit in front of everyone like cattle. She's in a wheelchair. They would not let any of us stay with her during our wait. So for over an hour she sat by herself with other people in a line all of which were by themselves. Once we were able to board we were hoping the stressful part was over but I couldn't have been more wrong. We were told she would be able to muster in the dining area with other disabled guest. My mom can walk but not for long which is why she's in the chair to begin with. They WOULD NOT let her muster there. She had to walk down FOUR flights of stairs and then back UP. She was in so much pain from this. At this point I was beyond mad. The room was so small, their beds were not even together. There was no chair and the only place to sit in the room was on the bed which irritated my dads spinal problems. They did bring in a chair after I complained to guest services but it was a pool side chair. Really?? Their time on the Sunshine was miserable. Do not get room 7106! On our 3rd day I had called for room service and was put on hold "due to an increased number of calls". It sounded like someone had picked up the line but no one said anything to me so I heard a lot of background noise and two people talking. One was the woman that normally answers for room service and the other was a man. The man said Americans are full of "bulls**t". The woman then says, "Americans are spoiled and full of bulls**t". Excuse me?!!! We work VERY hard for our vacations!! The rooms are VERY small compared to the other ships we have been on. One person would have to stand in the bathroom for another person to pass through the room or crawl on the bed. I don't want to EVER sail on the Sunshine again! Read Less

We were excited to be on a ship that had recently been refurbished, assuming it was going to be really nice! Embarkation - It was pandamonium. Where we had to go to get our room key was way across the room from where you come in. Between you and the desk is thousands of people waiting to get on the ship. You had no idea if you were in line or just behind a group of people waiting to get on the ship. It was the worst embarkation we have ever had. When we walked onto the ship we smelled an odor of sewer/septic smell. When we went to our room we were pleased with the size of it. The bed was large and roomy. However, as we began to unpack we noticed there were no nightstands to put our small items we usually have next to our bed. There was also no full length mirror. There was not a lot of storage and it seemed that the design of the room wasted some space that could have been put to use as storage area. The bathroom shower was great, but the shower room made the rest of the bathroom extremely cramped. The toilet was at an angle where one foot set in the shower when you sat on the toilet. The food was good, however the dining room was very noisy. The ceiling was low and the conversations just bounced back down from the ceiling making you have to shout to be heard. It was not the ambiance of a grand dining room that you would expect. The common areas like the Atrium, Liquid Lounge, etc. were very small and cramped. The Liquid Lounge seemed like a warehouse district and smelled like sewer. We went there once and were getting sick from the smell and left before the show began. The Comedy Club was awful! It was so small that many had to sit outside of the view of the entertainer, so all they could do is hear them rather than actually see the action. It was pathetic. The entertainment we were able to see was not very good. Karaoke was the best entertainment on the ship. The Piano Bar guy could not really sing and begged for tips. I thought we had already paid for the entertainment with our purchase of the cruise? He was obnoxious and pushed tips and drinking. We saw three comedians on the ship. One of them was decent the other two not so much. We always enjoy Cozumel and Roatan. We go to the beach at both places and make a nice day of it. Belize was okay. I can see where they have made some improvements to the shopping area (shade awnings on the walkway), and that is appreciated. However, the tender back from Belize was not good. We had to sit in the tender boat until it was full before they would take us back to the ship. The diesel fumes were making a lot of us sick! Some people actually yelled at the people driving the tender to beg them to leave and go back to the ship. But they stoically waited, ignoring us, and waited until the tender was full to go back. The disembarkation went fine. We were able to get off the ship as early as we had planned. I think for those people new to cruising, they will like the ship and the experience because they have nothing to compare it to. We have been on 18 cruises, so have much experience in what you can get on a cruise and we know when we are being shortchanged. This ship did not meet our expectations and was a real disappointment. When looking for a cruise, I would recommend bypassing this ship! Read Less

We planned our trip a year in advance . We wanted to renew our vows for our Anniversary since we eloped our first time. With our 4 kids& us in two rooms with adjoined, We bought new suits and dresses for the kids. My husband bought a tux and I bought a gown... Not just any gown... ThE GOWN. I spent a small fortune on it , but hey.. I wanted to do it right. We arranged in advance all of our gluten free needs including the cake. When we arrived on the ship, it was enormous. Our rooms were beautiful. We had our beach fun pkg my husband bought and flowers he had placed in their before arrival that we vibrant and tropical. I was elated. We unpack our stuff and meet our stewardess, Ricarrdo, who was amazingly sweet then we set out for some dinner. We were greeted by a dietician who looked after people with food allergies. She tells you what options are available to you. I have Celiacs Disease and therefor require a gluten free diet. I order fish and baked loaded potato. It comes and the dietician comes with the food to make sure it is right. I asked 2 times if she was sure it was gluten free. She said yes & tells me to eat & I must taste the food. Next to my baked potato was a small cheese sauce in a dipping size cup which I used to dip chunks of potato in. A few bites in, the texture is wrong and chewy. I dump the remainder of the cheese sauce on the plate to see noodles are in the sauce. We flag down the dietician & asked if my meal was suppose to have this & she said no. Immediately I ran back to our cabin to try and make myself vomit. Before I stepped on the ship, I took a lot of anti naseau meds for motion sickness, so nothing is comming out. I'm dry heaving & gagging myself so much that I urinated all over the floor. Then the pain hits. Burning and cramping. I crawl to my bag and get my steroids. The staff at the customer service desk offer to have me checked by the doctor & they don't understand enough English, that there is nothing he could do. Meanwhile, my abd swells & painful to touch, then my bones start hurting. The pain meds aren't cutting it. My husband has the bartender get us buckets of ice & we used our ziplock baggies we packed & began iceing my body. I knew at that moment the vow renewal was off cause I wouldn't be able to fit into my gown. It was going to a week of hell. I wanted to go home. They SAY they gaurantee their vacations, but they don't. I was stuck. I became so week after the diarrhea kicked in, I had to use a wheel chair to be pushed around in. They sent an apology from the kitchen in the form of a written card on top off some tiny pieces of CAKE. Not gluten free either. Bit just pissed me off more. My husband took pictures of the menue for the night & nowhere on it was Mac n cheese. My husband tried to make the best of it by dosing me up and taking me out of our room to look around. I don't remember most of it. I remember there were chickens on one island, shopping at what looked like a flea market at another island, and I don't remember one island at all. My husband took pics of which I'm drooling on myself in because I'm so doped up on pain killers. A few times, my husband tried to have me go to the dinning room as a family, unfortunately, every time I ate, I would start cramping followed by diarrhea. I gave up. They started bring food to the room so we could all be together. I had to be near a toilet at all times because everything went through me. The kids took turns baby sitting me. I was hungry all the time because nothing stays in the stomach and the intestine cannot absorb anything because it was burned off from exposure to gluten which irritates the mucosal lining. No sky course for the kids that week. I really looked forward to that trip & it was horrible. I tried to get a refund or a redo so we could do our vow renewal. They refused both. I'm still trying to get back the $ from the vow renewal we didn't get. There general attitude is too bad so sad & sucks to be you. I don't recommend Carnival cruise to anybody, including the ones I'm not fond of. The biggest problem is communication followed by a lack of education. Ricardo was awesome with the kids and was helpful with anything we asked or needed. I would be in bed one min, on the toilet the next, come out to a clean room and a made bed which I would immediately get into again. He was so fast. When we departed the ship, I lost 10 pounds & was too weak to walk that far & had to be wheeled out. We had previously planned to spend a few days after the trip in New Orleans but decided their is no place like home and drove immediately home to Tulsa, Oklahoma. I got ahold of my doctor & told him what happened. He wanted me to do another round of steroids and some more pain meds. Over the course of the next two weeks, I slowly get my strength back and put back on the 10 I lost. Read Less
