My husband and I chose Carnival Panorama because we wanted to sail on a brand new ship and sail to the Mexican Riviera. The Good: Brand New beautiful ship, enjoyed the pay restaurants for free at lunch bt noon and 2:30pm. We tried-Mongolian Wok and Pasta Bar. Staff was friendly and worked hard. The big shows in the evening were excellent. The Not So Good: The drinks on board are very expensive a strawberry margarita or daquiri is bt 13 and 15 dollars including the automatically added tip and floater. If you don't add the extra 2.00 floater it just tastes like no alcohol is in the drink at all. The dining room meals in the evening were not very good. I'm not a picky eater and on three different nights I only had a baked potato because I didn't like any of the other items I ordered. Lobster, prime rib, escargot and Mahi Mahi not eatable. One night we ate at the Smokehouse just so I could find something to eat that I liked. There is very little healthy food on board. If you look high and low you can survive but on a brand new cruise ship I would've loved seeing a healthy restaurant to choose from with many food allergies or diets addressed, gluten free, keto, dairy free, etc. Our table mates in the evening also were struggling to find food to eat at dinner and they also thought this would be a great idea. It was sad to see so much wasted food on board by passengers who took too much food ate a couple bites of each item and tossed the rest. The entertainment on board was not very good unless you like bingo, the casino, or game shows. This cruise was one of the most expensive we've taken and not good value. Read Less

We chose this cruise because my hubby and i wanted to see the pacific side of mexico, Why not on a NEW SHIP?! .We only have Celebrity to measure to but here is what we found... the main DR was ALWAYS cold...like very cold. The food was just...meh.. and the decor was not as nice as celebrity, however.. playing to a different crowd, i wouldnt want to have it super posh and kids jumping all over it. NOT dissing kids, it is what it is...EMMA was amazing, never really actually met her but her voice is infectious and her ALWAYS ON (bless her soul) attitude was over and above. She is the voice of Carnival.. i can only imagine, her time off she must spend sleeping.. thank you Emma for your very hard work at trying to please everyone! Havana bar was nice, it would have been nicer had the weather been better, but thats not Carnivals fault. More beverage options as opposed to you coming up with one on your own, would have been more helpful.. your on vaca, you don't want to think..lol.. The entertainment was definitely better than celebrity, and JOHN...loved him. Im glad he got to see his moma today! JIJI'S was AMAZING food. It was a refreshingly different taste and the service was done well. The seafood shack was also good.. the Casino was fun, a lot of winning from a lot of people. Surprised is both, actually.. I would suggest they take time during the evening and clean off the machines more often of the "stuff" people leave lying around, particularly ashtrays and empty glasses..(although i would prefer to put this on the people using them, i feel most dont think it should be them cleaning up their own mess) i cleaned a couple off just to sit down and play. The staff on board, for the most part everyone was pleasant, i did feel some were getting tired as its close to the end of their run, felt you were asking for too much sometimes, but I wouldnt hold that against them.. It would also be nice to have a few more garbage cans, (recycling) maybe near the elevators as you have coffee cups as your walking around but have to hunt to find a place to discard them. All in all, i didnt mind the Carnival, and i would cruise with them again, its a new ship..their is always kinks to iron out. Read Less

We got off the Carnival Panorama at the Long Beach port after returning to our rooms for one additional night as one passenger was Covid 19 tested and the 4000 of us had to wait for that one passengers result. Thank god the one passenger was negative but it was nerve wracking for all of us. Needless to say it was chaos for the thousands of embarking passengers since they could not get on the ship since we could not get off it. I have no idea were 1000+ hotel rooms were found to put these 1000's of waiting passengers. After 15 Carnival Cruises (since the 1990's), I think I am really done with Carnival for a long time. The Panorama crew and their service was impeccable and personable. Having Matt Mitcham (as a surprise guest) onboard truly helped the atmosphere as he and Emma did the best they could with the challenges caused by these events. The problem is that the mass cruise market has just become way too congested (e.g. just too way too many people and too many queues) on their ships. The production shows were great, but the showroom layout, seat cushions, and sight lines were the worse ever (and that was considered an improvement from the other Vista ship we were on). The casino was literally unplayable! Reason: The entire casino is the dedicated indoor smoking area 24 hours a day. Its so bad, that transiting non-smokers had to go up one deck and cross over before going back down stairs on the other side. What a dreadful design and my casino play was the least ever on any cruise ship because of this. On the other hand, the new NCL Encore we ere on the month before has a non smoking and separately ventilated and isolated/enclosed smoking casino and it was wonderful except even the NCL Encore suffers from the same passenger congestion issues. I am still a big fan of cruising, but I think its time to look at less passenger ratio ships in terms of "elbow room." I'll try more River cruises (which I love!), once this Covid virus is past us. My estimate is that is won't be until year 2022 that this pandemic is under control so that cruising becomes as safe as it was before this started. Otherwise, trust me, its not worth the stress to vacation this way with this kind of risk out there. Read Less

Cabins: We had two cabins 2371 & 2369. 2371 was a Cove balcony which was a first for us. I now prefer the cove balcony to a regular balcony. The cove balcony has more shade and privacy and less wind. Two doors down is a "service" area, but that is only used to load and unload luggage on embarkation and debarkation days so it is quiet. 2369 is an interior upper/lower room. The configuration of this room means that there is no couch to sit on our coffee table. There is also less closet, desk and drawer space. There is only a stool to sit on. It is awkward to sit on the bed since they are bunk bed style. There is more floor space even though the cabin is smaller than standard, but that is because there is so much missing furniture and the beds are upper/lower and not side by side. This room is only good for people who do not plan on spending any time in the room other than sleeping. Both rooms were very quiet despite being by the elevators. Having the dining room above us turned out to be a big plus from a noise perspective. Food: I thought the food in the main dining room was generally very disappointing and the Lido Marketplace was worse. Fresh fruit or vegetables selections were extremely limited. I would avoid the main dining room except on lobster, filet mignon and prime rib nights. We did enjoy the nightly parade of waiters and napkin waving and dancing in the dining room. I would recommend specialty dining for dinner for some nights, the Vista dining room for breakfast (eggs, yogurt parfait, chia banana pudding were our favorites), and for lunch we liked all of: the pasta restaurant (free at lunch). Mongolian Wok (free at lunch), Pig & Anchor (free at lunch), Guy's burgers and the Cantina (also good for huevos rancheros in the morning). For dessert they mostly had cakes - most of which were OK, not great. My kids also liked the pizza, but I didn't try that. The only desserts that we thought were really good were the ice cream and gelato. Note that the "chocolate extravaganza" just means that the cake station at Lido Marketplace (the buffet) only has varieties of chocolate cakes. Carnival Kitchen: We did the cake decorating. It is a great concept, but they need to refine the class a bit. Assigning the station you go to needs a new process. It took too long and there were many confused people (understandably). Be aware that it is 2 people per cake so if you go solo not sure how you "share" the cake. They should just eliminate the instruction on how to bake a cake because watching someone pour ingredients into a kitchenaid mixer was boring and not part of decorating. There is almost no instruction, but it was fun. The cake tasted pretty gross. We didn't eat ours. Entertainment: I thought the cruise director had a lot of energy and a staff that ran great activities. On this ship, I felt that the main shows were really music shows with something to watch and not productions - although we didn't see Celestial Strings as by then we had enough of the shows. Note that there aren't enough seats and they fill up so get there early to get a seat. The trivia and other games were a ton of fun. My kids liked the rope obstacle course and did it several times. They did the bikes once and thought that it was great, but with an hour plus line the norm didn't go back. My teens liked Sky Zone - it was small, but fun. 20 is the maximum, but both times my teens did it, it wasn't sold out. Teen Center: This was amazing. I didn't see my kids most of the week. A special thank you to Dustin. You were amazing. Pools: There is no adult pool and the 2 adult only hot tubs are small and almost always full. Lounge chairs are hogged early in the morning and so there are none available at Serenity or other prime spots unless you are an early bird. Carnival (like most places) doesn't enforce the "40 minute" rule. HUB App: This is a great concept. I would have done anytime dining if I had realized that you could request your reservation from the app when you were ready to eat. Very convenient. You could look up your account, the dinner menu, activities, and make reservations among other things on the app. My only complaint about the app was that it froze frequently. Ports: I thought that they could have done a much better job providing port information and "ship time" changes. I have been on many cruises and this was the first one where I felt like there was such little information about the port. There was conflicting information about "ship time" as the time on the TV, the time on the paper and the time on the apps all varied. Elevators: This ship uses a new system to call elevators that is very common in other countries and usually efficient. It did not work well. Elevators took awhile (no more than other ships), but here there was no way of knowing if the elevator was on a nearby floor or would be awhile. I think people would have been less aware of it if there was anything in the elevator lobby area to look at to keep you occupied, but there is nothing. Cleanliness: The ship looked very clean. Dirty dishes were picked up quickly. Everything on the ship is very new. I was surprised though that there wasn't anyone pushing hand sanitizer or hand washing at any point during the cruise, especially entering the buffet area. Read Less

We chose this ship because it was a new ship with 3 hours by flight. We were very excited about the fun amenities. Getting on the ship was ok. Getting off the ship was horribly long and painful. We had hoped for entertainment similar to NCL, unfortunately, 80% is comedians. We visited the casino a few times, it the smoke was so bad it made it impossible to stay very long. I would hope by now the casinos could be split between smoking and non smoking. Although the smoke would still drift over, it would be nice not to have someone smoking all around you. The food on the ship was ok. We were on the Liberty in 2018, the Elation in 2019, and the Valor and Panorama. The menus in the MDR are almost identical for three years. They need to switch it up every couple years. The lunch and dinner food in the buffet was barely warm. Nothing was hot. Breakfast was excellent in the buffet. Things seem to be warmer. I had breakfast in the mdr on a sea day. The pancakes were dry and eggs bland. Carnival has the best fresh juice by far. Blue Iguana was perfect for lunch. Breakfast was hit or miss. Breakfast Burritos thumbs up, huevos rancheros was cold. By the end of the cruise we didn’t go to the MDR as we found almost the same food at the buffet with a great view. One of the highlights of the cruise was eating at The Chef’s table. This was an unforgettable, culinary experience. I would give them 9.5 out of ten. Only because I don’t like wine. If they could have sparkling cider, it would be perfect. The activities on the ship were a lot of fun. Emma our cruise Director made things memorable. Her and her staff were a definite thumbs up. The alchemy bar, by far was the best bar on the ship. Especially if you like custom drinks. Nikola and Zoran crafted incredible drinks, while keeping you laughing. Their customer service was Top Notch. Also, if you like espresso, go visit Java Joe for coffee and a song. We have some great memories, especially due to the staff. Unfortunately, my husband and I said, overall, we would not return to the Panorama. We have a cruise this fall on the Breeze and are hopeful it will Wow us. If not, we will probably go back to NCL or try out Royal Caribbean. Thank you Christine for your addition of the heroes bar. It is a wonderful tribute. Read Less

On so many levels we wanted this cruise to be epic because we had my MIL and my sister with us, both first time cruisers. Having cruised on Carnival and other Cruise lines in the past we didn't sway their judgement one way or the other. We wanted their honest unbiased opinions without our input to see if we were just being too judgmental and comparing our past cruises to this one. 1. Embarkation for the most part went smoothly. We didn't have any issues. Our Uber driver dropped us at the Queen Mary and we walked a very short distance to the entrance, dropped our bags and moved through the lineups fairly quickly. 2. The ship overall is nice and new and clean. The cabins are roomy with enough storage. Beds are comfy. There we no robes in our room when we arrived but our room steward Anthony had them to us in no time. We were in a balcony cabin and Mom/Sis were in an Ocean view cabin. The elevators took a short time to get use to, more so for Mom and Sis. To me the layout overall was a bit confusing and I found myself getting lost often throughout the week. I thought it was just me until my sister stated the same, she said she found the ship choppy and hard to remember where to go. This is where the app came in handy and we messaged each other often for directions etc. NOTE* the app messaging only works when the app is live. My MIL found the washrooms inconveniently located and she spent a lot of time walking around looking for washrooms. 3. Entertainment was great, we loved the Punchline Comedy Club as well as the Broadway Beats show. There was always good music around the ship also. During the day they had trivia and other games that were fun. They also had a lot of entertainment for the kids making this a great family cruise if you have young children. We really wanted to try the Skyride but the wind was just too high which was disappointing. 4. The food in the buffet, in our opinion, wasn't very good. It wasn't hot and it tasted bland. We found the line ups long for the burger and pizza place every time we went there so we just gave up. The dinning room was our go to. It was the best food and the service was 10+++. Our crew, Ivica, Ned and Borna were probably the best we've had on all the cruises we've been on. They took great care to remember details and made us laugh every night. I like that they have a "showtime" in the dinning room where the staff dance for you. Ivica also worked the deck during the day and always found us to keep our drinks filled. Speaking of drinks, this time we purchased the drink package and found it a total waste for money for the amount we drank. Next time we'll just pay as we go, it would have been a lot cheaper. 5. Ports and Excursions were good. We booked our excursions through Carnival instead of sourcing it from outside and we were satisfied with what we got. In Cabo we did the Catamaran Cruise & Snorkel with Open Bar - Great fun, the guys on this excursion were awesome! In Mazatlan we did the Salsa Salsa - Also great fun learning to make Salsa as well as salsa dancing and in Puerto Vallarta we decided to just walk the Malecon. The weather wasn't great in PV so I'm glad we opted out of an excursion on this one. 6. What gave us the mixed feelings. We booked the chef's table 3 months prior to the cruise and was told we would receive our time once we arrived on ship. When we received our excursion tickets and not the chef's table confirmation we I went to customer service to see why. They confirmed that we were booked for the Monday night (which was port day in Cabo) and we were to meet the chef in the main lobby bar for 6 pm. We made sure we were back on board to shower etc and be on time. 2 hrs before we were to be there we get a call stating that they could only accommodate 3 since I didn't confirm all 4. I was very upset since we had planned our day around this dinner and my hubby and I was excited for our family to be a part of this event. They said they could "squeeze" in the 4th person but they wouldn't get any of the personalized items that came with the dinner. I declined and they rebooked it for 2 days later. I was still upset and went to customer service to see why this happened since I was told the night before we were confirmed. Long story short, they messed up, they admitted to messing up because we were not sent the invitation like we were supposed to be. They bought us dinner in JiJi which we appreciated. The other thing we found, all the hot tubs on board seemed to be used as little kids wading pools. Everyone of them were always filled with the wee ones. I feel Carnival should enforce that if a child under the age of 8 is in the hot tub then an adult needs to accompany them. We talked to a lot of other people who felt the same. We feel this ship is more geared towards young families and that is great if that's what you are looking for. I wished I had did a little more investigating before we book this cruise. We were excited to book the Panorama because it was a new ship and we wanted to experience that. Read Less

We stayed in Suite 11221, which was a beautiful comfortable room but I would advise people to avoid this particular cabin and the ones around it unless you don't want to get any sleep. This suite was directly under the weight room in the fitness center and meatheads above us were slamming and dropping heavy weights on the floor (our ceiling) from 8 am on. The fitness center was supposed to close at 10 pm and yet there was someone slamming weights into our ceiling until 10:45 the first night. I was told by the customer service desk that they let the staff go work out after 10. We nicknamed the room, 'Thunderdome' after a while, and continued to complain. They did have the spa manager go over there and tell people to cease and desist, which helped a little. They also gave us a $300 cabin credit for our pain and suffering. I personally think on a ship that rocks, there shoudn't be any free weights except for light ones, you can so easily injure yourself or others. I watched a guy throw two 80 lb hand weights to the floor when he decided it was too much weight and his steroided arms got weak. I really wanted to like this ship. It's new and nice, and lots of free things to do. We loved the comedians, they were really talented. The big shows were forgettable. The food - nearly nothing for good desserts. If you wanted a really decadent dessert, you had to pay a fortune for it at the coffee bar. The main dining room has lots of blind spots so you can't see the waiters dance, which is always fun. We paid over $4k for a suite, you'd think we'd get some consideration and a better table but no. You had to tip them to get a decent table. I realize they are serving thousands of people a night but the food was always barely warm, including the salad dressing. They actually had the bottles of dressing under a heat lamp, I kid you not. We had dinner in the steak house and they overcooked my filet mignon into beef jerky. I ate part of my husband's steak, which was excellent and they didn't charge me for my meal. I took some cheesecake to go and that was divine. The myriad activities were fun, we enjoyed the cruise elegant nights and got some really nice pictures. HUGE improvement now with their online system to pick the photos you want to buy at the end of the cruise and don't have to hunt down your printed shots, which anyone could throw away. Embarkation was a breeze since we arrived a bit late, as our flight to LAX was delayed. No lines whatsoever in the afternoon, took our bags straight to our cabin. Read Less

I have been on several cruises before... always on Disney, so naturally the bar was set extremely high. The reason I was on this particular cruise was because it was gifted to me by my mom. I had read alot of review about the carnival imagination before I embarked (on this site in particular) there were alot of reviews in which people's complaints were things I was not bothered by, there were also many things that I was bothered by that many people have not mentioned. I'll start with the good and end with the bad. The good: the embarkment process was super fast, and easy, faster and alot less complicated than Disney. One thing that I noticed other people were complaining about was the smoking... honestly I didn't mind it...I actually liked it...not because I am a smoker, because, well I am not. However what I liked about it was that the cruise did not solely cater to kids. Their smoking policy encompassed this perfect. There were many areas to smoke that was not just on deck but also inside. Speaking onto their dissregard for kids. That was probably the thing I liked, actually loved most about this cruise. Which is funny because it is what most of the reviews ranted about. Anyways, I don't like kids...I am a child free person who really dose not like kids or their parents they are rude and self absorbed. (To further prove this...there was actually a used dipper on one if the elevator button boxes that a parent had just left there) as I was saying, as much as I LOVE the Disney cruise it is very catered to kids. The carnival was not, they had many casinos, bars, smoking areas, nightclubs, 21+ comedy shows and even an area just for adults with hot tubs. I loved Catalina island the water is clear and the island was beyond expectations. There was quite a few events to keep us busy. The buffet was above average, I loved how they had the cakes cut and served to you by staff (so the kids were not getting their hands all in it) the comedy shows 21+ were above expectation and both comedians should be famous honestly. It was not too packed either. Beds were comfy as hell, state room was clean, and there was alot of good movies available. The bad: I wish we had stayed at Catalina the whole time...if you want to see Catilina this is a good way to do it. There is alot to do snorkeling, parisailing, scuba, and the water was crystal clear. That island was amazing. However ensanada is not much it is polluted, gross, and really is not much more than Tijuana. Your tours consist of getting drunk, fat, or both. On many cruises such as Disney they employ staff from all over the world. It provides a really fun and beat experience. However on carnival unlike Disney many of these staff members barely spoke English. The sit down dinners were a constant battle of guessing games. It would not bother me as much however the staff was rude about it and would get frustrated with you even though they were the ones who did not understand you. More about the sit down dining. I have been to many upscale restaurants and whatever that was is far from "upscale" if you have not had a 5 star dining experience you may be fooled, however. Many of the dinners were nasty and tasted like airplaine food. The chef mixed alot of wierd ingredients in an attempt to be fancy however they kept coming out as nasty concoctions. Besides the food, the "fancy" experience was ruined by the fact that every 5 seconds they needed your stateroom card, and we're constantly trying to sell you stuff. Also of you get the "bottomless bubbles" package (free drinks for your Cruise) you still end up paying a tax....leading into my next subjects. I don't know if you have ever flew with spirit airlines, however if you have you know about their bare minimum experience followed up with alot of "nickeling and dimeing you" (extra charges) one of the things I absolutely loved about the Disney cruise was that everything was free.... everything. However on the carnival many of the restaurants cost money, drinks cost money unless a package is purchased....your ticket may cost 200$ but by the time you spend the money to have a half decent experience you will be 500$ in easy. The pool is way too shallow. Read Less

The ship itself is beautiful and modern and new and everything you would expect from a brand spanking new cruise ship, however, the customer service was sub par. Some of the people were super nice, however there were a lot of people on the ship who dont know basic customer service and this is sad. I'm usually a Royal Carribean cruiser and I've had a better experience there in general. I was rushed through dinner and told I had to place my whole order at once? What happened to steps of service? I dont know what I want for dessert I havent even had my appetizer yet. And lots of Eastern Europeans on the ship who don't have the best customer service and can be downright rude. Cabin was well designed. I reccomend getting the balcony cabin def. worth it. Shows were just okay. There is no water play area for babies in diapers/under 2. Also no daycare for babies under 2 which kinda sucks. Also no babysitting for them until 10 p.m which is too late to be useful. The buffet food is pretty bad except for the soup and salad which is okay. The pizza is good. The fancier paid restaurants are much better than the free dining room. The dining room is okay. Pretty standard cruise fare. One ot two higher end options each night for free like filet mignon, lobster tail etc. Drinks are way too expensive as is the drink package. It's basically designed for the alcholocs. The merch on the ship is also overpriced. The casino is best to play the first few nights. People start losing mid cruise. Also there days of shore visits in a row is a little tough and tiring especially for older people and people with kids. Overall good experience but not great. Might try a different more customer service focused cruise line in the future. The parties on the deck are fun and in the lounge. Overall not bad if you book on a deal. We paid $2500 plus gratuities for husband, baby and I. Read Less

Nothing quite like new. But really I was not terribly impressed. The ship is very crowded with very little open space. Too many lines. Main showroom was simply too small and so you better be early. Rock revolution was outstanding. The other shows were well done but not well written. Food mediocre. Breakfast boring. Dining room food pretty good at dinner. We loved the staff. Best food onboard was the hamburger bar. Overall I just felt the ship was built to cram as many people as possible in a small space. Would not sail this ship again. If I want to share my trip with 4-5,000 fellow passengers I will take an RC mega ship. At least they are built for it. I thought Emma the cruise director was very good. One time, at 1 am, she let us down. Getting over stressed in a tense situation when passengers most needed her. I will leave others to share the details. Read Less

We chose this cruise due to other family members having booked on same sail date. The great: Cruise director: Emma 500 stars. She is a ball of energy and engages people easily in activities, her personality is amazing. Cabin: Balcony 9th deck starboard side towards the bow - great room, room for 4 with a pull down bed from the ceiling. View is amazing. The bike ride: fantastic, though I did not go my son and daughter enjoyed this very much as well as other participating family members. Rope walk: again son and daughter and others enjoyed, anyone stuck or scared to move was helped by a staff member. 1 time the crew pulled up on the harness a bit hard on my adult son, and well.. it hurt. They liked that you can move and choose a side of the coarse. Lido mid ship pool is heated! There are chairs built into the pool on each side. Lido mid ship area had a huge screen for movies, etc. Average: We enjoyed the buffet on the Lido deck, honestly the food was not as good as we have experienced on other Carnival Ships. The food is hit or miss and all of us experienced tummy issues. Anytime dining was good: Food again was so so depending on the meal. Service is still working out the kinks. Each night I requested iced tea and my daughter lemonade and we had to remind them every single time about our drink orders. View is amazing from the aft at this dining area. Pizza was good: I did see the staff being rude on the last morning prior to departure (5 am ) where pizza was denied "breakfast is ready" but the man came back as breakfast was not ready and they finally made him his pizza. Cabin staff: not as friendly as on other ships we have been on. Casino was ok.. 4th deck no windows. Beautiful bar area with changing graphics in the center. Staff again seemed tired. WE did have lights on the vanity. Not so great: A family member had a cabin in the family harbor: They had noise above them every single night and they and their children could not sleep much as a result. This was a middle room and below the 3rd deck service area - it was sooo noisy. A door did not work on the area for the family harbor game /food area anyone could walk in. They called numerous times to alert about the noise, ear plugs were not effective. Food most of the time again.. not so great. Undercooked steaks/ cooking is not consistent. I would wait until they work out more bugs and get into a flow. Elevators: You have no option to change your mind about which floor you are going to. Once you are in, you are committed. Also the elevators were overcrowded. Maybe they need to add a "how many in party" to the elevator to help route other elevators if there are large amounts of people going to a certain floor? We had 10 cabins and were there to celebrate a birthday. I was expecting an unruly party crowd and was surprised to see people behaving maturely on this ship. Perhaps it was the time of year and the fact that kids were still in school. There were kids there but most were kept in check. The ship was easy to navigate and nothing was too far away. Cabin has only one plug so bring a strip. Nothing good on tv that has two complimentary movie channels. Casino is nice with all games, including craps. Bingo paid well if you won unlike Celebrity’s bingo. Water slide looked like a blast but it was too cold on this voyage. Entertainment that we saw was pretty boring. Dress like the 50’s, sing 50’s songs. Next night, dress like the 70’s, sing 70’s songs, etc. The high energy cruise director made things fun when he was in charge. Service in the cabin and the dining room were excellent. The food was good but not memorable. Karaoke was fun as was Papas and Beer in Ensenada. I would go on this cruise again. For an inexpensive getaway it can’t be beat. Read Less

Upon hearing that Carnival was beginning to leave from San Diego, my family decided it would be a great first cruise for 5 year old twins. We took a New Years cruise to fit in winter break. My husband and I have cruised previously (including on Carnival). Embarking was pretty quick and straightforward. We had one of the first embarkation times and made it fairly smoothly on. Getting off the boat was unexpectedly quick if you checked luggage. We were off the boat hours before we anticipated we would be. Spa To take advantage of a discount emailed to me, I had booked a massage for 3pm on embarkation day. Well, turns out kids club does not open on embarkation day until 8pm. There was no way of knowing that before getting on the ship. Then I go to the salon to find out that since the 3pm was in the middle of the safety drill, the massages had to be rescheduled. As I was at the desk, I was not the only one who had prebooked online showing up and being rescheduled. Why would we even be allowed to book at that time if they could not perform services? The staff did work to find a time that evening for the massage, but it was at a higher rate than what I had prebooked for. I was not told that at the time of booking either. The massage was nice, but I really disliked the sales pitch before and after. I stayed away from the salon the entire time following that. Kids Club The kids club was honestly what we were most excited about. Problem is, the hours were always varied. We'd drop our kid off and be told that it closes at a random time for an activity (that was not previously posted). It was a little frustrating in that regard. I had my kids there for one late night (New Years) and picked them up close to 1 am. Instead of droopy kids calmly watching a movie or something, they were running and jumping around. It was hard getting them to sleep that night. My kids had only warm feelings about the kids club. They made a request to not go one day, but when they went they had a good time. Overall, I'd say it was an average experience for them there. Food We ate in the main dining room most nights with some buffet trips. We never did any specialty dining (partly because of the lack of information for when I could drop my kids off prior to sailing). I was really disappointed that my kids received the same menu every night. The adult food was fine, nothing too special. But if the adults have tacos on the menu, how hard is it to make a kid's special of a taco? Hamburgers, hot dogs, spaghetti, and chicken nuggets were pretty much their only choices. One night we walked by where the kids club was dining and they had better meal choices for kids there. I was not impressed. We also did the Green and Ham character breakfast. The characters coming in were fun, but we also saw them for pictures later in the cruise and would not have had to pay for it. The meal options were pretty much the same thing you'd get on the buffet, except "green eggs and ham". That was buffet scrambled eggs dyed green and Canadian bacon. My husband ordered it, and it was meh. Pretty much I paid $20 for my kids to eat cereal and take pictures with characters they saw again for free two days later. For something we were excited about, it was a disappointing experience. New Year's Celebration The party was pretty fun with fun wearable giveaways (like light up glasses) and complimentary toasting champagne. They did combine all the parties at the end which made for a packed lido deck for a count down. Overall Impression I had some specific criticisms that I pointed out, but overall it was an okay cruise. They kids had fun. Their favorite items were all you can eat soft serve and the mini-golf course. They also really loved the on board Build-a-Bear activity, complete with Carnival themed clothing options for the dolls. If you do that, line up early. My husband and I were able to enjoy some peace and quiet, which is what we really wanted from the trip. It was a budget cruise and felt like it. Read Less

I was super excited about the inaugural cruise on the Panorama, i honestly did not find the value in the 3 day cruise i paid almost $1900 with drink package for 2 people in a cloud 9 spa balcony. i was mainly not a big fan of the layout of the ship. The ship is big and offers many amenities and restaurants but all those come with an extra cost. it seems carnival just took away and spare space they could have and shoved in other paid facilities. For example the Atrium although very beautiful it felt so small and claustrophobic, with it always being crowed and it not stretching multiple decks like other ships. Another example was the size of Alchemy bar which is a very popular bar, you can tell Carnival decided to down size the bar in order to squeeze in more Specialty paid dinning. So the bar was always crowded with people. Something else that bothered me was that the Cloud 9 spa is co-ed so you have to be sharing facilities with the opposite sex. While on other ships there is a woman's and men's separate facilities, again another example where they squeezed in more places where they could make more money on, like extra massage rooms. I understand it is a business and they are here to make money but i just didn't get the relaxing experience i have gotten from other carnival cruises especially with paying a higher price. i know i can get the exact same things offered for free on this cruise on a much cheaper older carnival cruise ship, and have a better experience. Another thing is that they never had coconut water while i was there not a big deal just annoying. But i can honestly say i will not be sailing on Panorama again or at least not if i am paying that high of a rate. i prefer the other ships Imagination and Inspiration, much cheaper and offer same free restaurants and amenities, at a lower price point. Crew amazing as always on any carnival cruise as well as the food, very very delicious. Read Less

I just got back from Mexican Riviera my 3rd time on this particular cruise and second time on the Miracle. Since it has been 2 years cruising with Carnival I don't know if it was the Ship or if Carnival has just gotten majorly cheap but this wasn't my normal Carnival experience. The food was horrible, the selections in the dining room were sad, our service was deplorable and the ship was dirty. I have been a Carnival supporter for 20 years and I had to eat my words this time which is very sad to me. Like I said I don't know why it was this bad, I would like to say it was the Ship is old and they put the worse people on it but I have no idea. Someone said it was going in for repairs soon that is why they moved it to San Diego but the repairs we were told that they were going to do by the crew wouldn't make any difference in what I saw. If Carnival is changing practices by cutting crew and the food to try and save money then we have a problem because it showed. This ship is going all the way to Hawaii and I feel really bad for those people they will be starving by the time they get there and bored out of their minds. Fun Ship this wasn't! If you are going on this ship soon be ready, you will need to eat in the fine dining steak house if you want a decent meal and good service, when you get ready to come back on board from a port day they only have 1 line and 1 scanner so you will be standing in line for 30-45 minutes with no place to sit down. Everyone that serves you has a bad attitude and they literally have nothing to shop for in the tiny store they have on board. 2 weeks before Christmas even zippo! Read Less

So the day we arrive is an easy transition. The boat boarding goes very smooth. Were greeted by pleasant employees that carry infectious smiles on their faces. As we arrive we payed for early to the fun so our room was ready. Our room appearance was neat. However the ship was out dated! It had a smell that I couldnt really figure it but it wasn't pleasant. Our rm was u110. We were right next to the electrical room. Every night was HOT! MISERABLE ! THE ROOM SMELLED LIKE BURNT WIRES AND NEEDLESS TO SAY we woke up with severe headaches every morning. We tried to be positive and ask for a fan. Even offered to pay in which we were denied. The ship is of fair size but the ship had alot more movement than many others I have been on. Seasick to say the least. AT THE PORT OF ENSENADA, we get off the ship to do our activity paid and chosen that we paid 189 to do . We rode the four wheelers maybe 30 mins. However the drive to get to them took an hr. No where to use the restroom for hrs. No where to get a drink. However the tour guides were great but did mention because of our American President Trump he could no longer get a passport. Kinda made me wonder. The excursion had so much driving to get to the event we didnt get to explore Ensanada. Back to the ship. The food was nasty except for the outside cooking. The outside food was so much better than the inside. Lastly I'd like to thank the staff because they were tremendously wonderful and were ALL FAR TOO GOOD FOR THE SHIP ITSELF. Read Less

We picked this as a last minute cruise vacation because it's close to home, we had sailed the same cruise on Princess before and liked it, and they had a sale going. The ocean view cabin was good. Our steward was great and kept everything clean. However, the ship is worn. Our closet had broken hinges. The toilet felt like it was going to come clean off the wall anytime I sat on it. [I am not overweight.] it wobbled. The doors sssqqquuueeeeeqqqqqqeeeddd every single time we opened them. The was ONE Power outlet in the whole room. One. This ship was built in the 80s and you can most definitely tell. They literally named a lounge Xanadu. Plus it was slightly racist in the whole Egyptian and "Asian" theme that was underlying everything. The buffet is tiny. It had almost no selection of food. The dining room selection was horrible too. Why don't they have the list of "everyday items" like the Magic did? The elevators run weird. The stairs are very steep. The artwork is super dated and again, 80s. The only thing that looked new was the carpet. They had fans everywhere and randomly we got wafts of sewer, even in the dining room. This was definitely the worst of the 4 ships we have been on. Not because of the crew, they were all great. But the ship itself is in desperate need of an overhaul and modernization. Everything is dented, chipped, and just.. worn out. The only thing that looked okay were the tile tables in the lounges, and the curtain on the stage. Read Less

Embarkation was amazing. We purchased FTTF just a few days prior to sailing. We were on the ship by and had access to our cabin 7233 immediately. Our luggage was not delivered until later. Our first dining room experience left us more than a little apprehensive about further meals. We were served cool entrees. My chicken breast was so hard I could barely cut through it. I asked for bearnaise sauce in hopes to cover the dryness. My first dish was cool. The second dish was cool and had a dried texture. I ended up only eating the cheese place I ordered for dessert. The wine we ordered didn’t arrive until after our meals were completed. We complained bitterly, it was so disappointing to the 4 of us to have something wrong with each meal. The waiters, maitre’d and food manager all came to our table to say that would make it right. The next dining experience was much better with warm food and our bottle of wine being taken off our Cheers tab. But the following 2 nights were back to cool meals, armour plated fried chicken and not to forget the non existent dress codes with tshirts and baseball caps. We opted out of the last night because we were NOT going to give them a tip. Our anniversary dinner at Nick and Noras was fabulous. The food was so good and amazing. I wish we could have eaten there each night. I would suggest they lower the lighting uniformly, as our table was lit up like a football game while others enjoyed a lovely soft ambiance. The steak and lobster was supreme as was the service. We were each given a complimentary glass of champagne as well as a delicious dessert and 4 spoons! It was a wonderful celebration. Our cabin steward, Julius was attentive and always had our cabin cleaned before noon where our next door neighbors, and travel companions had a different experience with another cabin steward. We were delighted to see they actually policed the lounges in the Serenity pool area. On the 1 1\2 days we had weather that cooperated there were a number of towels and personal items being stored at the pool desk. This practise gave everyone an opportunity to to enjoy some sun and relaxation. We played bingo once but found the cost high for the wins. We went to the Piano bar once and felt the entertainer lacked true musical experience. Our favorite entertainers were 3 women from Poland. They are M3Strings. They play a cello, violin and base violin. All are orchestra trained and their performance proves it. Just a delight to listen to their large array of music from rock to pop to classical. We listened to them at either the Atrium bar (loved the service Darius) and in the Alchemy bar each night. The activity coordinator was certainly not someone I would recommend. Many times when we were forced to listen to her, she made mistakes or mispronounced English words. My goodness English is English whether you are in Australia or New Zealand! When we sailed from PV we were told the ship had no more avocados (but still on the menu at the deli each day), clamato juice and worstershire sauce. It just goes to show Carnival is running short staffed because these items should not have been missed. PVallarta has an abundance of retail outlets to stock up the ship for 2 more days. It told us they didn’t care. I would like to mention the thin bathroom towel which were not always white and often stained. All in all I would give this cruise a 5. You get what you pay for and Carnival was a lot cheaper than other lines. The four of us loved our balcony being opened up. When a neighbor smoked the situation was immediately dealt with. Unfortunately we never did find out who was smoking the pot! The cruise line alerted us that the balconies would be washed while in port. I really don’t know what they did but we still had bird droppings and dirt on our balcony and floor gutters were still full of debris and the glass was still green around the edges. I am not an active cruiser. I have been on 3 cruises in my lifetime. 2 were HAL, and 1 was Pride of America (Norwegian). I am used to cleanliness, great food and consistency. We chose this cruise and line because it was a convenient flight from Vancouver and allowed us to be on ship to celebrate our 40th anniversary. It wasn’t expensive compared to other cruise lines and now I know why. I will never cruise with this line again because of the reasons stated. Because we rarely cruise, I would rather spend more and know I am going to enjoy my self in all aspects of my vacation. We realized 2 weeks before sail time that our ship docked at 9am (according to its published itinerary) and we had booked flights home at 12:15. That was one reason why we bought the FTTF package so we could help our debarkation a bit. Our travel agent talked to Carnival and they were somewhat hopeful we could still make our flight. We hired a private van to meet us after going through customs so we could again get to the airport fast. Surprise. We docked at 7 am. Guest services had told us to go to the upper level of the Baccus dining room to wait while others were told to wait somewhere else. Everyone was confused. We did get off the ship fast and customs was a one question and then we were on our way to LAX at 8:45. All that worry for nothing. Why did the ship say 9 am docking in the first place? I have no regrets about this cruise. But I won’t sail with Carnival again. Read Less

The itinerary was what we wanted, which we enjoyed. I found they nickeled and dimed you more than other ships I have been on. Really to charge you for distilled water. It's an inexpensive cruise and that's what you're getting. We usually travel Royal and we can see a definite difference in service and quality of food. The lobster night (my husbands favorite) was a total disappointment. The first one he got was just ok and the second one was mushy, not tasty at all. He couldn't even finish it. Over cooked. Which was a real disappointment for him. The other nights the food was from just okay to good. Never once did I walk out of the dinning room to say wow totally enjoyed that. I think we will be sticking to Royal from now on. Never saw our room steward. Our waiter was very nice and friendly but for someone who has worked on the ship for 10 years, the level of service wasn't there. The entertainment was good. No real complaints with that. The comedian did get a bit raunchy for my liking, I always say a good comedian doesn't have to resort to voguer or be raunchy to be funny. Read Less

I took a holiday with my family to Las Vegas and decided that, whilst in the US, we would take the opportunity to see Mexico on a cruise. We booked the 7-day Mexica\n Riviera cruise on the Carnival Splendor. My daughter is in a wheelchair and we booked one of the very few fully accaessible cabins on the ship - a Spa cabin (oceanview). It was not in the best location though - right at the front and near the top of the ship. Embarkation was relatively smooth although the facilities to get into and out of the cruise terminal to drop off and pick up were a bit chaotic. The ship, which was originally ordered/built for Costa but delivered to Carnival is very much like the Costa ships - full of vibrant colours. Food quality was generally good, but the experience in the restaurant was mixed, as was the buffet. Carnival only put tablecloths on the tables in the main restaurants on the 2 'formal' nights. On other nights the tables were much like those in the buffet. Service could sometimes be very slow, especially at breakfast. There was no dress code at all in the restaurant and although a few dressed up for dinner, most didn't bother with some coming to dinner in the shorts and t=shirts they had worn during the day. Entertainment was generally quite good, although the volume in the Atrium was sometimes deafening. The musicians though were mostly very good, especially the string quartet. Disembarkation was problem-free although again the picj-up drop-off in the terminal was chaotic and we had problems locating our taxi. The excursions in two of the three ports visited were well organised and informative, The last excursion in Puerto Vallarta missed a couple of stops out and, although supposedly being an adapted vehicle, did not have proper restraints and the two wheelchairs on the excursion could barely fit in. The experience in all three ports visited was very good, with friendly local people. Read Less

This was for my son and I to spend some time together before he spends all his time with his friends. We had a good time and enjoyed the cruise and time together. Embarkation was very fast and easy. Arrived at 11:15 for a 11:30-12 boarding time, and were on board by 11:30. Food at buffet was fair, the MDR was very good. We did breakfast in the MDR as well for better food. We were disappointed with the music, heard the macarena 3 times and YMCA 4 times. Felt like a bad wedding reception. Personally, would have liked to hear more classic rock, only 2 hours dedicated to it the entire week. Good thing I brought my ear buds! Service was great everywhere, whether it was the room stewards, MDR, "bus boys", even the "lifeguard" by the pool. Lots of entertainment, from ping pong, chess, board games, trivia, mini golf, etc. They need a lot more chairs by the main pool for movie time. We didn't get off for excursions, but that's what we wanted, to have the pool to ourselves and just relax. Had a great group of table mates for dinner and met up with a very nice family from Cruise critic on day 1. Disembarkation was very slow, but organized. The ship is ok, but a little warn (they were replacing a lot of carpeting in rooms as the week went on). The 4th and 5th decks have a MDR right in the middle of the ship, so navigating for to aft was interesting (can't always pass through). It was fun and great to laugh and relax with my son, but unspectacular and average. The only real negatives would be the amount of drunks and rude people. I know, it's the "fun" ship. The value in relation to cost is great, but I think I need to try another cruise line to see. This ship still doesn't have the pixels program to view your photos from your phone. I can never find the photos of myself in all the mess of photos. Read Less

We chose this cruise (4 day to Catalina & Ensenada) because we wanted an affordable, fairly short cruise. We had a great time and loved our cabin. The crew was amazing. They were always professional and friendly. We loved our cabin steward Arnold who even fixed a squeaky door for us. Our waiters, John and Samdani were the best! The comedians and musical shows were top notch. We loved the Buffet - always good food and good service. Food in the dining room - not so good. The Caesar salad dressing had no flavor at all and the fish was terrible. From other cruises, the dining room is usually the best, so I was disappointed in the quality this time. My biggest concern was the on board bathrooms. They were consistently dirty. Not one was being cleaned on a frequent enough basis. I even saw toilet paper on the carpets outside the bathrooms. Service on some of the decks by the buffet wasn't so great. We were on the back deck and observed every table had dirty dishes/food/glasses on them and it took about 20 minutes for someone to clear them up. Then it took another 20 minutes for the same guy to come back to clean them, but he did a lousy job. He didn't use any type of spray/cleaner and on a few tables, only cleaned half the table. The other big concern - the elevators. My daughter got stuck in one and had to pry the doors open to get out. They were constantly broken. There were lots of Trivia & other games, but the prizes are tempting enough to make me want to participate. Maybe offer the winners a free drink or something, not just a plastic ship on a stick. They really need to offer more activities for the 18-20 year old crowd. I don't know if I will cruise with Carnival again. Read Less

This was a 3 day cruise that departed Thursday and returned Sunday. This is my 3rd cruise. The first two were on Celebrity ships in the Caribbean. This cruise did not match up anywhere near the same quality as my first two cruises. The food quality was fair. The quality was somewhere between fast food and a Denny's or IHop. There was only pizza and ice cream available in the mid afternoon and late evenings. The entertainment was good though and always on time. The ship was smaller, the rooms were smaller and it was crowded. The passengers were about 40% families with minors, 50% adults between ages of 30 and 50 and the rest were seniors. I don't think I would do this cruise again. I was spoiled on my other cruises which had some of the best food I ever ate. I paid $1,470 for an interior room for 4 people. On line app to text was $5 per person, The after cruise mandatory tip was $42 per person. Drinks were $7.62 for a beer and about $10 for a mixed drink ( tips and tax included ). Read Less

Carnival is a great value for those on a budget but I was really disappointed in the food. We had anytime dining. Here were some exceptions: 1. 5 stars: Featured Vegetarian dish--the head chef was Indian and the Featured Vegetarian dish offered each night for dinner in the dining room was Indian and fantastic (just get extra yogurt sauce if you can't handle spicy food) 2. 4 stars: Guy's Burgers. 3. 5 stars: Strawberry soup appetizer offered in the dining room 4. 4 stars: Caesar salad 5. 4 stars: ice cream (order the banana split off the kids menu for dessert, nothing else was good) In general, I found most seafood and desserts offered to be terrible and everything else to be ok. Steak tip: They charge you for the good steak at dinner but you can get a small portion for free at brunch (Steak and Eggs) Embarkation and Debarkation was a breeze in Long Beach Best fish tacos on the planet: Tacos Lily in Ensenada (your maps app should be able to find it.) Recommended by Anthony Bourdain (No Reservations, Season 8). Next to the fish market. A short walk from where the bus drops off passengers downtown ($8 round trip if you are not doing an excursion). We ate ceviche at another location and didn't have any tummy problems so yay! Service was wonderful. Bed was very comfy, bathrooms were nice and clean We had a 4 year old and she liked the kid's club Noise sensitivity. Bring noise cancelling headphones for anyone with noise sensitivity. Everything was so loud (DJ on Lido deck, Muster drill, any show in the lounges) my 4 year old had her headphones on almost the entire time we were out of our room. Seasick: I got a little seasick on the at-sea day. They will give you free generic seasick pill at guest services for free if you forget your dramamine Birthday: I celebrated my birthday on the ship and on the evening of the second day, they gave me a $50 credit at the spa for use on the 3rd day only. Frankly that left little time to make a reservation but the prices are so high, $50 wasn't really a big savings and I didn't use it. They also gave me a $12 credit for pictures and I did buy pictures. Bottled Water: Since this was my second carnival cruise, I got a large bottle of water free (sign up for the VIFP club) and it was enough, we didn't need to buy any extra water. Read Less

My wife and I went on this cruise because my brother and his wife were taking this particular cruise. We wouldn't have chosen this one however, we went into it looking forward to a good cruise and good time. Immediately upon entering our cabin we were disappointed. The entire cabin had ONE single power outlet (including the restroom) and while we've cruised before and knew plugs were limited, ONE was a bit surprising. Otherwise the cabin was average with the exception of the balcony. The balcony was very disappointing. We paid for a larger balcony and it was larger than standard however, it was filthy. EVERY piece of outdoor furniture was soiled, stained and just nasty. We could not sit on any of it without first covering it with a towel. I'll add photos. The glass on the outer railing was stained dramatically, the wooden railing was peeling, and there was rust on multiple areas of the balcony and outside the balcony. It also took us two phone calls and a discussion with the steward to get the room cleaning arranged. The food was hit and miss, some pretty tasty, some really poor. The only exceptional meal we enjoyed was at the Steak House which of course cost additional funds. I have to say that while the cruise wasn't terrible it certainly isn't one we would ever do again. There are options out there that we would enjoy more than this one. Read Less
