This was our first Carnival cruise and we sailed with a 6 y.o. and an 8 y.o. The kids loved Camp Carnival and at one time refused to be picked up. The counselors there did a very good job. The cruise itself was a lot of fun, it was the passengers on the ship that were different from any other cruise we have been on. Cruise was 14 Jan to 23 Jan, but we spent a week prior to that in Palm Springs. Drove back to San Diego on the 14th, to the Hertz location, they had a special shuttle to the cruise ship pier, which worked out great.

We set out on a sea excursion on New Years Day, 2012 on the Carnival Spirit. We left out of San Pedro which was very nice.
This was the second time that we sailed with Carnival Spirit which was 3 months prior. Both were fantastic.
In 10/2011 the boarding process was crazy long and drawn out. However, in 1/2012 it was seamless. The boarding was so smooth and so much more relaxing.
