Where to begin to describe this inaugural transatlantic cruise on the Carnival Magic? Good points: 1. Spacious cabins, but small balconies. 2. New ship, but gaudy décor. 3. The ship's "wine card" which offered a discount on the selections of wines on that card is a great idea and welcomed feature. OK points: 1. Cabin service. Len Stanchick, Cabin 10267: We (4 adults/numerous cruises), sailed the Magic's recent 'Maiden Trans-Atlantic Voyage'. We were only out of Barcelona a short while, when we were notified we would have an Itinerary change due to a damaged rear thruster. Cabin steward was a gem. Attentive, smiling, efficient and helpful. Remainder of staff seemed indifferent to everyone. Ship well laid out and never felt crowded with the exception of the main theater which is very undersized for the capacity of the ship. We took a trans-Atlantic cruise 3 years ago on the Carnival Freedom, and it was one of the best we've done. This has to rank among the worst. We pick a cabin mid-ships for Trans-Atlantic crossings on Deck 1 and have never had a problem.
