We have sailed with Carnival before but this time was just horrible. We always eat at the sit down restaurant because buffet food is not always the best and we actually got up and left twice. Once the food was horrible and once we never got our food. The lobster was like mush, it would literally squish thru your fork. The veal parm was so hard it was inedible. We were at the roulette table for 2 1/2 hours and no one ever came to get us a drink. On another night a group of us were at the slot machines and someone had to leave a machine and go find a waiter. It was a huge disappointment. I hope it was just this ship but we will never travel with Carnival again. The one good thing was we had a beautiful balcony room and Anton was an amazing steward. This ship needs major help! Waited in line 30 minutes in the red frog bar to buy a beer for happy hour to be told they were out! We opted for a SPA balcony, very hot, absolutely miserable. Call 3 times and still sweating! The ship seems to be grossly understaffed for the number of passengers. Even as a platinum member, service is terrible by customer service. Dining room staff is good but again understaffed. Lines are long and move extremely slow. The bars are the worst, very rude staff but it appears this is due to overwork and understaffed. The bars were NASTY, especially the red frog bar. Ship looks terrible, carpets are dirty and it generally smells everywhere. The shops are extremely dated withe the same old junk. It appears that Carnival has no new items for the past 10 years. I paid too much for this vacation for the terrible service! Read Less

The first night I went to dinner and bit down on a piece of ceramic, it didn’t hurt initially but later I realized It chipped a tooth, all the response from the staff I got was a $55 spa gift card when the least expensive spa option was over $100. on the 4th day of the cruise I got the worst case of food poisoning I have ever had causing me to miss a whole day on land and spend a whole day bouncing between the bed and the bathroom. Speaking of the beds; the beds were less comfortable than the ones I slept on in boot camp years ago, I woke up every day with back pain. The entertainment was fine, but nothing special and not at all worth what I paid for it, which was far more than I anticipated to begin with. My final receipt stated I would receive a return on the hold placed on my account but instead more money was withdrawn from my account. If you choose to go on a cruise, take my advice, don’t choose carnival. Read Less

There is limited space to sit in the sun. Next if you have allergies you can tell the workers but the kitchen staff are not aware enough that they need to change utinciles and clean the cooking area to not give someone an allergic reaction. So if you are allergic to certain foods you are better off going to the buffet. Our ship did not stop at the best port "Grand Turk".......... The only reason I went with this ship and cruise line. The only things that were scheduled to replace the best port was a game of sorry and bean toss. Not like 3000 passengers can participate with two pointless games. All in all for a first time cruiser I can guarantee it will be my last cruise. This cruise ship and cruise line when called would not refund or give any credit. When asked to talk to a manager staff stated there was no managers to talk to. What a joke. For being the largest cruise line they really need step it up. This trip was a wast of time. I suggest never to schedule a cruise with carnival magic you will be greatly disappointed... Read Less

My husband and I were on the Carnival Magic for the second time (first was August 2018). We took this cruise to celebrate both our 45th birthday. This was our 11th cruise, 10 with Carnival and 1 with RCCL. Overall ship maintenance. 1. The most important issue (I think) comes from the A/C system! We've been roasting in our cabin, mislead by the guests service who called maintenance even though, that we learned later, they knew it wouldn't be fixed. Other passengers complained about it too and we all been told the problem would be fixed the next day but never happened. There were also some public areas where the A/C was barely to not working at all. Again, when people complained they were told that there was no problem! 2. This ship is way more rusty than all other ships we've been on, regardless of the class and age (we've been on Fantasy class, Conquest class and Dream class). 3. Throughout the week we could smell sewage odor in differents part of the ship. The first evening it was stronger in the Atrium and when guests service crew were asked about it they pretended not to smell anything and reply they would send someone to spray with air freshener! 4. Windows were so dirty that we couldn't take pictures through it. In the past we could see crew members hanging around the ship at every port of call to clean the windows and ship. By the amount of grime accumulated it seems like it's been a while since they did. 5. In the Lido dinning room, over the tables, there is air vents with nothing to prevent dirt from falling. Food and drink... 1. We noticed a very big decrease in the quality of the food. I'm not saying the food was not good but the quality and taste in general wasn't what we normally see with Carnival. On the other hand we tried the steakhouse for the first time and it was amazing! 2. The water available on the Lido from the drink fountains tasted terrible and the limonade was way too strong. We've been drinking the ships water and limonade since our first cruise and never experienced something like that. 3. For the first time on any of our Carnival cruises, the service in the dinning room was average, at best. We experienced on our previous cruises excellente and personnalized service but on this particular one we felt neglected and rushed. Housekeeping 1. Our stateroom stewart was really nice and was doing a great job. When we told her about the room temperature she managed to find us a fan despite being rare due to the large number of cabins with A/C issues. She even wrote a special note on the mirror for our birthday. 2. From the public restrooms to the dinning rooms and the corridors, everything was really clean. Entertainment and activities 1. The playlist production team was fantastic. It was their first week on the Magic and we couldn't notice any hesitation or discomfort between them. 2. The Cruise Director, Leigh, was doing a great job. He is enthusiastic and easy to approach. 3. We tried to go to the Punchliner comedy club 2 or 3 times but the club was already packed 30 minutes prior to the show or the line up to get in was so long we coudn't get in. Ports of call 1. Half moon cay, as always is a nice stop. It's a perfect beach and relaxation day. The only thing I would say is there is not enough umbrellas. 2. Grand Turk was also really great. It's a really great place for people who enjoy snorkeling without spending big money on an excursion. 3. Amber Cove is a beautiful place with a pretty nice pool area. There is 2 waterslides that you can access for free and a zipline for which you have to pay. In conclusion, I do not recommend the Magic until it has undergone major work. As for the ports of call, if you enjoy a lot of beach and pool these places are for you! Read Less

in 40 cruises this was the worst. if you have allergies DON'T GO ON THIS SHIP. even though we had notified the ta and the ship and the dining staff they couldn't get the food right for my grandson who has severe allergies. on other cruises there was no problem. the service was horrible in the dining room for both dinner and breakfast. excursions were ok we did a private one in st. martin . getting off the ship was crazy. we didn't go to the lecture as we are experienced cruisers they told us there were no more luggage tags available. we should walk our luggage off. a joke as my son had a baby and 2 kids and 8 pieces of luggage. I was very perturbed at the counter and they finally found some tags. the sports area was terrific. the rope course and the golf etc. were all together so the adults could watch the kids doing activities so that was good the shows were ok. ship was fairly clean. main problem was the service Read Less

We had the Spa Balcony and as when we took a shower the whole bathroom floor flooded. The dining sitting arrangement was bad. They had us seated back where the help was going in and out. They should never put a table bake in a corner away from all diners. The waiter took 15 minutes to come to our table just get water. We had to ask for water for the table. We were always the last to leave. It took the 2 hours or more to complete our Dinner. This is unacceptable. Door were not open when arrive for dinner. We had 15 minutes wait. All the food was dreadful except for your assigned dinner arrangement. If you didn't eat dinner or at the hamburger cart by the pool you be out of a meal. The breakfast buffet always had raw bacon. I did eat at the WOK and got sick. After the cruise my Grandaughter said she eaten there and go sick also. I have been on Carnival in pass years (before 2008) and have never had a bad experience. I became a Gold member of Carnival during this time. We use to only do New Ship each year. I just started cruising again and this was the first time on Carnival since 2008 and it was BAD. When we went get snack after 9:00pm we all ordered a Ruben sandwich and ask for extra cheese and they stated that they couldn't"t give us any Swiss cheese but American cheese. Everyone knows a Ruben sandwich only takes Swiss cheese. The roast beef was so tough like rubber we couldn't it. We laugh and through tin the trash. The pizza was like cardboard. The pool was always filled with kids. No pool for only adults. I don't know what happen to this Carnival cruise line but they're not how I remember. I will never cruise with Carnival unless I get a real good deal on Newer Ships. Read Less

I went on this cruise with 4 other friends. This was my first cruise but some of the others I traveled with have been on many cruises but after seeing what I endured this will be their last with Carnival. I am handicapped from the waist down & utilize an electric wheelchair to get around. We rented a handicapped suite which had plenty of room but we also had to pay extra for the suite to fit my wheelchair. I didn’t mind. Never at any time was I told or warned that there were decks of the ship that I wouldn’t be able to access. Not even in an e-mail. When on board some of friends went to deck 12 and I was trying to get to them. I spent over 2hrs going from 1 location to another, at the direction of crew members to get on the deck. There was a screen on the deck & supposedly I could get there behind this screen. Nope! 2 hrs I spent I felt like an idiot & degraded. I ended up back in my room crying. I also couldn’t get on the adult deck only, deck 11. Nor could I go into the Spa, which would have been great for my medical issues & not just for vanity reasons. Then there’s their private island, Amber Cove. Wheelchairs aren’t allowed on tenders despite them being large boats. This was the only thing I was aware of & that was because of my friend that I was traveling with. One would think with Carnival owning their own private island & they could make it handicapped accessible & perhaps put up umbrellas for quests to have some shade. Instead they gladly screw over their quests by making them pay extra for drinks instead of it tying into their drink package on the ship. They both belong to Carnival after all. Then there’s the dreaded elevators. There were instances were I couldn’t even get on them due to overcrowding & attempted for over 45min only to just go back to my room. Another time 6 tries before someone helped me because the doors closed to fast for me to get to them fast enough before they closed. This was just to name a few. It got to the point that any time I had to go them my anxiety went through the roof. My friends were shocked at how difficult it was for us to get an elevator with me. It was degrading, humiliating & embarrassing. I skipped dinner 3 nights because I just didn’t have the energy to fight with the elevators anymore on those days. I was done. Instead I stayed in my room & just cried. I also wasn’t made aware I wouldn’t be able to access any of the pools or hot tubs. How would you feel about going on vacation & find out 1/2 of the stuff available wasn’t available to you? You had to sit back & watch others having fun! That’s not my idea of a vacation. Had I known all this I wouldn’t have booked my trip. Then to top off my trip on the final night of my trip I utilized my walker to drag myself out onto my balcony to take pictures of the sunset. While taking pictures I felt an weird sensation in my right foot & looked down & there was a dirty, salt covered, rusty razor blade sticking out of my foot. I got myself back inside & sat down & while I was trying to pull it out of my foot I cut my left thumb. I immediately tried to call medical & got no answer. I got my steward & told him & showed him where it happened. Showed him the razor blade. I also reminded him we received a note the day or 2 prior that the crew were going to be cleaning all the balconies. That maybe someone dropped it while cleaning & the wind could have caught it then lodged it in my foot. He went to his supervisor to tell him & I tried to call medical again & got no answer again. When my steward came back he said “ There is no Dr on duty but you could go try to find the nurse.” I told him “ I have a rare immune disease that a lot of Dr’s don’t understand & no offense to nurses but if Dr’s don’t understand it a nurse certainly won’t & a nurse can’t dispense medication & if I need a tetanus shot & antibiotics she can’t administer them. I need a Dr. I guess I’m on my own. His response was “There is nothing we can do.” Then he left. I wiped down my wounds with antibacterial wipes & wrapped them in tight bandages to hopefully close them I had with me for emergencies. When I got home I ended up having to have both a tetanus shot & go on antibiotics. I wrote Carnival to tell them my experiences & they blatantly lied to me saying they sent me all this information in an e-mail on 2/20/18 & told me this verbally. I saved all my correspondence from Carnival. The e-mail from 2/20/18 was to join their VIPC club. I also was never told how hard it would be to get around the ship, that I couldn’t go into the pools, the spa, the hot tubs etc... The only I was made aware of was that I couldn’t go to their private island because I couldn’t go on the tenders but when I saw the size of them I was shocked. When people go on vacation it’s to escape from the trials & tribulations of their daily lives. It’s no different for people who are handicapped. We didn’t ask to be this way but we deal with it the best we can. We try to live independent lives. I didn’t need my disability slapped in my face. My mind also works great so I didn’t need crew members to treat me like I’m an idiot. Take this as a warning. If you have any special needs don’t travel with Carnival. Read Less

This was a chartered cruise adventure and i plan to address my issues with that group as well but many problems that i had personally made me want to go home by day 3 of a 7 day adventure. My cabinmates mainly kept our cabin clean prior to service coming in but i was disappointed to see that an obvious makeup spill on my bunk stayed all week which let us know that bedding not changed. Food service lines were ridiculous and menu selections were bad. Dining room service was slow/2 hours to completely get our meals which caused us to miss shows. The entertainment venues were hot and air conditioning was also scarce in other parts of the ship. Mostly, this was an all-adult cruise that we had always had the option of hot tubs 24/7. The pools/hot tubs all shut down at 8p. Embarkment was a nightmare! It took 3 hours to find my final piece of luggage and i embarked in the first group. I loved the casino but smokers and poor ventilation made it difficult for me with my asthmatic condition Read Less

Never made sense to me. Disembarkation was a joke We will never sail Carnival again. We met several other people who experienced similar things to us. They said Carnival was their least favorite cruise line. We went on Royal last year and they are nothing alike. So if you have been disappointed by Carnival on your first cruise. Try another line. We did a back to back Cruise leaving on 4th Aug If long queues for food, overcrowded swimming pools, woeful organisation, rude staff, and constant sales pitches are you thing, then carnival magic is for you Let’s start with food.... the minimum amount of time we’ve had to wait in line for the breakfast buffet was 30 minutes. Yes 30 minutes for a lousy piece of bacon and undercooked sausage. This is solely down to the woeful organisation and layout of the food selection. (I.e only one dish of bacon, pancakes out at a time meaning waits every time they are replenished). Other far bigger ships manage the buffet sections with far greater efficiency, and when fed back to the buffet supervisor, the standard carnival ‘we don’t give a crap’ response was given. The seated restaurants are much better however stop serving breakfast at 10am meaning you have a choice between decent food and a lay in. When evening food has been served in the restaurants, the quality of service has been average at best. I believe this is largely down to the mandatory gratuity scheme that carnival run ...( in other words passengers tips that are automatically charged to their cabins are used to subsidise their lousy wages) meaning the restaurant staff effectively have no incentive to offer the fantastic service we have experienced with other cruise lines. On three occasions bread was not been served until the main course, and on a further four occasions we had to sent food back due to it arriving at our table cold. On the ‘formal’ nights, and I use the word formal very loosely the seated restaurants are also chaotic (the restaurants still allow those in beachwear to sit alongside those who followed the dress code). On both occasions we were given a buzzer and informed there was a 40 minute wait .... again this is clearly a ploy to drive people to the bar / casino. When we were finally permitted to enter the restaurant, it was 50% empty with numerous tables sitting empty. We counted 10 tables in our vicinity that were empty for 15 minutes despite the huge queues outside..... again this is down to pure and simple woeful organisation. After flagging this to management a simple nonchalant shrug was given with clearly no desire whatsoever for things to neither change nor improve. Moving on to the ship.... like most big cruise ships, it is adequately equipped with many facilities and the cabin comfort and size was comparable with other cruise lines. What isn’t compatible however is the sheer volume of passengers carnival have dumped into on place at one time. There are literally queues for everything, not just the food queues mentioned above, but everything.... shows, bingo, toilets, you name it, there’s a queue. Beyond this, for some inexplicable reason, there are only 2 swimming pools on board. Yes there are hot tubs, and there are the water slides, but if laying by the pool and dipping in to cool down is your thing, then The Carnival Magic is not for you. The pools are both very small and throughout the day are literally standing room only.... in fact that is an understatement, you are more like a tin of sardines standing shoulder to shoulder with other guests due to their being nowhere to move. Other similar sized ships have 4 or 5 pools which are much more adequate Grand Turk - given the short pier at Grand Turk, only one small gangway was available at the front of the ship... No bright spark at carnival had foreseen that up to 6000 people exiting the boat at the same time down one single staircase might not be the best idea. . cue absolute chaos and downright dangerous activity. For 40 minutes we were wedged in on a staircase from all angles, children were crying, the elderly had no place to rest, and even myself as a fit young male struggled to breath at times. People got very heated at the officers waiting at the gangway, only to once again be greeted by the standard nonchalant carnival shrug. Escalations - thorough the trip, we raised several bits of feedback with ‘management’, eventually going to the front desk. Lloyd in the northern lights restaurant was useless, the chap in the Lido buffet no better. As for Joseph from Haiti on the front desk, it would’ve been more helpful to have spoken to a dog. Our case eventually got escalated to Joseph Ballesteros a ‘supervisor’ who promised to resolve our issue and update us accordingly. If you count doing precisely nothing as resolution, then he did a tremendous job. 48 hours after being promised a response, we still hadn’t heard a thing meaning we then had to once again chase up the useless front desk. Eventually we spoke to Ana one of the managers at guest services who was somewhat more helpful. Despite this we were promised a letter with a case number so that we could pick up our issues when we got back home. Naturally in true Carnival fashion this didn’t arrive ... we then had to queue for over 90 minutes to talk to Guest Services (we’d given up calling after spending 60 minutes on hold) Other points; The constant ‘ding ding’ announcements..... these just get incredibly annoying especially given that on most places on the ship you have absolutely no idea what the person is saying. 99% of the time these are just a lame sales pitch. The casino - several of the ‘grabbing’ machines were not replenished between cruises giving the false impression that prizes had actually been won that voyage. (Ie slots for $2500 were left empty suggesting the prize had been won). At best this is misleading, at worst, downright fraudulent. Lemonade dispensers - it’s amazing how the ‘pressure keeps going’ on the free dispensers, but there’s no such issues with the paid for drinks. Tour in Belize - turned up at 9:30 as stated. We were told to be seated until tour was called. We waited 15 minutes and were then told the tour had been already called prior to us arriving. This resulted in us arriving late to the tour and nearly missing the coach. Smoking - whilst I appreciate the need for certain smoking areas, it is incomprehensible for this to be permitted inside the ship like in the Casino. As an asthmatic, I find this deeply off putting and grossly offensive. 90 minute queue to speak to guest services on the final sea day... but only 3 out of the 5 counters were manned. Was assured a response to the complaint via letter but still not received - so far been stuck in the call queue for over an hour as the queue for the reception desk is still around 90 minutes! Woken up by hoovering on 3 occasions after midnight Disembarkation a farce. Guest services had told us coach was at 9:30 to the airport so we organised early disembarkation luggage tags which stated disembarkation between 8:15 and 9am. Got to 9:40 before our tags were even called to disembark, but by this point we had been informed that the airport coaches are ongoing meaning that once again, incorrect info had been given by guest services. In summary - you’d get better Customer Service in prison than you do on the Carnival Magic. Even when things go wrong there is absolutely 0 appetite to put things right. The fact the queue for Guest Services was 90 minutes throughout the final day absolutely exemplify the apathy in which Carnival treat their customers. Never ever again will I be stepping on a Carnival ship. And now for the good points; The Cruise Director Cookie is excellent and an excellent host. Sadly the rest of the ‘fun squad’ are not so excellent. In fact I’ve seen better hosts at McDonalds. The Shows have been good and some really great talent on show from the theatre productions. The comedy club was excellent, and Manny oliviera in particular was hilarious. The host on the other hand was woeful and clearly way out of her depth at this level. The ports of call were excellent and all beautiful in their own unique way. Read Less

We chose this cruise for my son and niece's graduation. He wanted to see Grand Turk and she wanted to see St. Thomas. Three days before our cruise we got an email stating that the St. Thomas port was cancelled! And we would be getting $50 ship credit. This was totally unacceptable for the price we paid for our cruise. And Carnival would get the money back any way since we needed to use that credit on the ship. Everything was so loud and chaotic and busy. Long lines for breakfast everyday on the Lido deck and long lines for breakfast even in the Southern Lights dining room. If you like to drink and party and be loud then this is the cruise for you. If you want relaxation you won't find it unless you pay ridiculous prices for the spa. The pools were small and crowded with people just standing in them with their drinks. At one point a child got yelled at because he was trying to have fun swimming. Imagine that, being able to swim in the pool! The entertainment in the theater was not quality and corny. And Cookie the cruise director was loud and annoying. The only good entertainment was the girl singing in the Frog Pub and the violinists were talented. However, the ports were enjoyable. Jesus, our cabin steward was fantastic and smiling everyday. Dinner was the highlight of everyday, due to our waiters, Jakapan and Arsana. They were incredible servers and we enjoyed getting to know them and talking with them every night. All of the workers are upbeat and hard working and friendly, even though Carnival works them to death! We will not be taking a Carnival Cruise again. Read Less

Port of call was canceled because the ship's engines were not mechanically ready to perform at full power, which as every sailor knows is the captain's responsibility. Horny crewmembers unable to cease from ogling/hitting on underage girls and sexually harassing both passengers and other crewmembers (perhaps a name change, Carnival? "The Lust Boat"? Or the "Lusty Rust Bucket"?). Getting anyone at Carnival to apologize for or even admit the egregious conduct of their crew is like pulling teeth, again, captain (and CEO's) responsibility. If you want to go cheap, Carnival looks that way at first glance, until they pull a Disney and try to extract every last dollar you have from your wallet. Should be called the "Motel 6 of the Seas". Problems onboard could be because the captain of this boat is a ghost, rarely if ever seen by passengers, and if anything untoward comes up, he has his poorly trained minions to screw it up and sweep it under a rug for him. Maybe he just likes standing around the bridge looking cool in his tailored Italian uniform and $2000 shoes? In any case, he is unfit to command a one-man rowboat. Customer service if there are issues? Non-existent, from stem to stern in the Carnival organization. Poorly run cruise line dedicated to shameless commercialism. They also treat disabled vets poorly. Rumor has it this ship has been cursed, sail accordingly. Read Less

To start the cruise we were delayed for hours to board due to either a medical emergency or engine trouble (was told different things from numerous workers). Our St. Thomas port was canceled and a $50 credit issued ... the whole reason we booked this cruise and definitely worth more than the $50 refund. Once on board and in our room on the 6th floor, our room was hot. Upon calling maintenance we were told all they could do was give us a box fan to circulate the air. It was miserable all week... several rooms around us were hot. Ridiculous that was their solution. The fact that kids have to stand in lines at bars to get a soda is absurd. The few bars by the pool were full of loud drunks and having our 14 year old girls maneuver through this was not good. The bartenders were rude and unfriendly. Royal Caribbean actually has numerous servers walk around and take drink orders while enjoying pools. I may have seen 3 servers doing this our entire cruise. Thank goodness we didn't purchase the Cheers package. It would be impossible to be able to get continuous drinks. It was hard enough to get a random soda throughout the day. The wait staff in the mornings at the Southern Lights dining hall was like a circus. Servers running around over one another getting absolutely nothing accomplished. The hostesses were catty and unfriendly. I watched them get together and make comments about guests. Our evening server Deedee dumped our table of 9 onto his new helper every night who was absolutely clueless. Our family and friends never received our food at the same time. Drink refills were extremely had to get. I realize they were trying to get us in and out but it was unfriendly and horrible service. The food choices were nothing like on Royal Caribbean. The Italian restaurant was great. The cheeseburgers were really good, too. Other than that the food choices were lacking and food was bland. We were there to celebrate two graduations and an engagement. I will never cruise Carnival again. I have to say our excursions were fun and Jesus, our cabin steward, was awesome. Even though we were hot and miserable, he was super friendly and very attentive to our family. I don't think anyone in our party of 11 total will ever cruise with Carnival again. For the money we spent, we were not treated well and service was definitely lacking. Read Less

Regarding our vacation on Carnival Magic 6/16, my family of six will not set sail again with Carnival after our experience this week. There were numerous disappointments all week long, starting with the delayed departure and loss of a port. Since we are from NC, we had planned to drive through the night and arrive just before boarding. After we have packed up and ready to hit the roads, we see an email saying there was an emergency and the ship would be delayed Saturday. We take off anyway because the email said there would be an update although the time given was not exact and we were already on the road to hear that the next update would by 9:30 in the morning. Since that’s all we knew, we continued to Florida anyway. It took us doing some extra research online to find out more details later in the evening and discovered the embarkation would be much later, so we were forced to get a hotel room for the night. Saturday morning, we find out the most disappointing news yet. Carnival had removed our favorite Port, St. Thomas, from our itinerary. St. Thomas was my reason behind booking this cruise. We had been once before on Carnival Sunshine four years ago and absolutely loved it. We had dreamed of seeing this island again and had planned this cruise on Magic for over a year and a half knowing we were going to St. Thomas again. My family of six was very disappointed. By this time, we are already in Florida, time taken off work and money spent on this cruise and Carnival is already disappointing us. And you thought it would make it better refunding $50 credit plus $15 on food? That miniscule amount of money in no way compensates for what we lost from our vacation. Yes, part of the delay was because of a medical emergency, but a significant part of it was also because of maintenance issues meaning the ship could not go full speed. That’s not an unexpected surprise that is not your fault, that’s something you should be fully accountable for. Simply saying “Sorry” and throwing $65 at the problem doesn’t cut it because your ships are not running correctly causing us to lose an island from our trip. So why would Carnival take away our favorite island stop, St. Thomas? We heard because it was further away but that still didn’t make any sense. It was not even the first on the itinerary. Due to this change in time, it was complete chaos at the Port. I have pictures of the disaster. We took a shuttle from Park Port Canaveral that should have been a 5-minute drive to the Port and it turned into 1 ½ hours of sitting in traffic. Before that we had stood in the heat of the parking lot for about 30 minutes because no shuttle could make it back to the parking lot because of the chaos. The workers at the Port were angry as well over the chaos. Thankfully there was someone passing out tiny bottles of water, but it couldn’t get passed out fast enough to people standing in the heat ready to pass out. Let’s move on next to Dining Room. We chose At Your Time dining due to having four kids involved in Circle C and O2. One night we had to wait 30 minutes, another night, we had to wait over an hour! One of our sons took the beeper to the hostess and said it was not working but was told it was. We waited even longer. Finally, my husband goes back to hostess and all of a sudden, they have a seat for us, and our party written down with several others at the hostess station on a post it note. I can only assume that they knew there was a problem paging us, but never came out to get us and just waited for us to complain a second time. All this time, we have to sit listening to deafening music in the entry lobby. We walk in and over half of the dining room is empty. We later get the worst service. One thing I wanted my family of 6 to do every night together was have dinner together and talk about the day. That night activities were already starting, and kids bailed out of dinner by the time we were able to sit down. We had waited so long I couldn’t blame them for wanting to leave. Service was horrible. The hostess later asked me what was wrong, and I told her. We later get a cheese platter delivered to our room I guess to apologize. I had went to bed early, asleep in the bed and someone walked into the room and delivered it waking me up. I was in my PJ’s, no privacy at all after 9pm. We didn’t eat the platters. Staying with the food areas, of all the cruises we have been on, I’ve never stood in line in the buffet areas as long as we had to on Magic. You really need to figure out a new arrangement. There were long lines everywhere we went to eat lunch. And what’s wrong with those floors in Lido? I slipped so many times walking and saw others doing the same. Once I almost really got hurt catching myself on the wall. Let’s talk about these drink plans. My husband and I purchased the Cheers for ourselves and Bubbles for our kids. First of all, we couldn’t start our Cheers package until later than we could have yet still paid full price for day one. The worst part though is there was absolutely no place on the ship besides the evening dining room that our kids could get a soda without sitting at a bar. Seriously, Carnival? Are you already promoting alcoholic drinking onboard with children? Our last visit there my son had went to one bar so much a bartender actually told him not to come back. It was hot, and he was thirsty and we bought the package. He had every right to get his drinks there when you don’t have non-bar areas to go to. This was in the Red Frog Pub Bar. We have traveled Royal Caribbean and children were able to use drink machines at any time around the ship. Maybe Carnival needs to copy this idea. And seriously, what’s up with signing a receipt after every drink even a Coke after we have bought your packages? I get you want extra tips but my kids had no spending rights on their cards, so they didn’t need to sign a receipt with every soft drink they ordered. Also, why can’t the kids get a bottle water with their Bubbles package? What is wrong with the temperature in the room cabins? We had two rooms and our room with a balcony was much, much hotter. We couldn’t enjoy our bigger room because it was so hot. We reported it to housekeeping that sent someone that left us a cute little card that said it was working to Carnival’s Standards. According to many guests we met, they also had the same issues with one even said she had them check her room THREE times. My husband and I could not sleep at nights for sweating so much. Our sheets were drenched every morning. The last night I even tried propping open the balcony door to feel the breeze of the ocean with my head at the bottom of the bed, so I could breathe fresh air and not feel like I was suffocating in that stuffy, hot room. Now onto the worst part of the cruise. Thursday evening on Cruise Elegant night, my family had been sitting in Northern Light and my daughter and I chose to take a break to the restroom on deck 3. On our way back to the restaurant, a very large man threw up and splattered many people in the bar area. I was covered down my bare arms and down the front side of me. Luckily my daughter was standing behind me and it only got her feet. I was so stunned I didn’t know what to do. Several were affected. One of your Carnival Crew members actually came up to me and said, “Are you okay?” Seriously? Okay? I have SOMEONE ELSE’S VOMIT down the front of my dress on elegant night. I was disgusted and all you can ask is if I’m okay? I said “I need to go to my room and change”. I didn’t feel like having a conversation in front of many others covered in puke. My daughter and I take off to our cabin to realize we left our keys at the dining room table. Thankfully our room attendant let me in. To be asked if I was “okay” was insulting. Who is okay with being vomited on by a complete stranger? I know your company cannot control another man puking on guests but at least train your crew to effectively handle the scenario. I never finished my meal that night. I could only think of bathing and getting into clean clothes. I was so stunned this happened it took me a while to reconsider going back out for fun. It’s great to market yourself as the cruise line for partiers and hard drinkers, but if a passenger is drinking so much they can’t control themselves and puke all over multiple families, your bartenders should be responsible enough to cut them off before that point. We had a bad odor in our room. Carnival did nothing to correct the issue. 2 family members got sick. Customer service was uncaring and nonexistent. Terrible. Many other passengers were complaining about the ship. It is older and has rust in most places. The food was terrible. We got the kids hamburgers and the buns on both were hard and stale. The kids asked to get something else. Not a lot in the was of selection either. The room service was terrible. we did not have an cabin steward for 2 days. The guy who was supposed to be filling in never brought us any towels etc. The entertainment was cancelled due to the stage and lighting not working. They were supposed to have a magic show but it did not work. So they substituted singers to throw together a signing show that was awful. If you want to waist your money go ahead but this is not a ship carnival should have on the seas.. Terrible. Read Less

Carnival's new policy of not letting you bring a drink into the back pool was terrible. It was okay for a family to have their baby have a crapped in diaper, but we can't have a beer in the pool??? WTH? Now that kids are allowed in the back pool, there was a constant barrage of shrieks from kids screaming at the top of their lungs. With each screech you could look at the faces of people trying to relax, and their reaction was the same as if someone was dragging their nails across a blackboard. This was when the middle pool wasn't crowded, just people wanting to be in the back pool. Also, no cool music at the back pool, just some low rent jazz. Also, the entire casino was smoking allowed. For the first cruise ever, I didn't play a single game in the casino. This also wafted into the areas in the atrium, so Carnival isn't worried about poisoning their customers. Food was better than on previous cruises, but we were never able to get a second portion like on all of our previous Carnival cruises. Read Less

Sailing with relatives who chose dates. Smoke filled Casino and atrium. Food was just mediocre with extreme lines and poor access/ accommodations for passengers. Many times people just gave up waiting. I had to wait 20 mins or more for salmon at dining room, because I wanted it well cooked. Everyone at the table was finished when I finally got it and it was not even close to well done. I ended up not eating it. There was barely no supervision for kids. They were running amuck on mini golf and walking all over the course. There was another kid in the gym. I have never seen that and I have been in many gyms and on many cruises! There were several rooms around ours which were solely occupied by teens. They woke us up many nights with all the banging and noises. Ship is not for older passengers. I’ll not sail on it again and I’m rethinking Carnival Cruise Lines for future cruises even tho I’m a VIP. I think I’m ready for a cruise ship that’s not so much “fun”!! Read Less

i chose this cruise because I was getting off the Miracle 14 day Panama Cruise in Tampa and friends and I rented a car and drove to the Magic to jump on her the same day. I paid for my sister to be in my cabin with me and talked my other sister and her husband into going on this cruise. Needless to say they all said they would never cruise again after the experience on the Magic. Sister's Cove Balcony had such a large noise or banging that they could not sleep at night at all. Front desk sent someone and they said it was the waves and that they crew had it a lot worst than they did. Food was cold and took a long time to get to us. No chairs to sit and eat when going to the buffet. People playing cards in the chairs and on tables where the trivia activities were to be held so we cover not ever participate in any on board activities because of this. Read Less

The embarkation was very smooth, they kept the line moving and everyone was super friendly, to bad we had to get on the ship. After that it was all downhill. The ship could use some renovation but was ok. Lets start with the entertainment. It was high school musical time. The performers tried very hard but with canned music I was never sure if they were singing or not. They did keep moving a lot. There was no headliner, like other cruises and shows looked rehearsed like they were going thru the movements. Big complaint was the comedy club. If the crowd went for the first show, they never made them leave, making it impossible for the people to get in for the second show. Most ship will make them leave, even had one table playing cards. I have written about the cabin later in this review, no need to go through that again. Dining was average, the servers were VERY good, I guess trying to beat the average food. The worst part of everything is that it is next to impossible to fine hand sanitizes when you walk into any venue. I have never been on a ship where they do not have them when you enter a dining room. Also table were never clean and when they did, most went on the floor. I like to feel that a ship is clean and I never thought this one was. No announcements to wash hands, pubic bathrooms had water on the floors and counters. Most of the dealers in the casino had a cough and one day not enough were healthy enough to fill the tables. I know this review went in circles, but if you want a dirty ship and under the age of 40 this is where you belong. Read Less

Poor layout at the buffet with many stations closed so such long lines it was truly a hassle trying to eat breakfast or lunch. Food was salty and poor quality. Fruit ran out by the 4th day. Too many people and crowds on this ship wherever you go and Carnival needs to crack down on the children running through halls & all over the ship with no supervision. Love royal caribbean and princess cruises and this cruise was pretty expensive almost just as much as the oasis of the seas yet very poor quality food and service Carnival needs to improve will not be ever sailing on carnival again, port canaveral is a nice port and the cabin on the magic was nice but the tv was old and tiny needs an upgrade.OVerall the Oasis royal caribbean was only $175 more for balcony and we should have went on that ship Read Less

Thank you to Cruise Critic for responding me to since Carnival has NO intention of addressing our serious issues we obtain on our First and ONLY Cruise we will EVER take. I am going to copy and past what I posted to Carnival's facebook page. I have also notified our travel agent who is helping to assist us. Of greatest concern was we were told we could NOT invoke the 24 hour guarantee or your cruise is free. The staff at the Customer Service center said they could NOT get us off the ship due to logistics. That is scary. NO baggage! No amenities for guests other than an out dated bag of generic shampoo, lotion, toothbrush (no toothpaste) a flip comb/like brush, a razor and 3 Q-tips. They gave us Carnival shirts to sleep in that were too small. Then lied to us about the shirt sizes and miraculously found 2 XL shirts within minuets when we told them we could not fit in the Large shirts. NO Under garments. No socks. It was me (age 50), my husband (55) and my 11 year old son traveling. We are in excellent shape but I can't imagine someone with a disability or some sort of impairment experiencing what we did. Just unacceptable on so many levels. YES! WE did have passports so I am not sure why we could NOT be taken off the ship. We returned on November 25, 2016 from a cruise from Hell on Carnival Magic. First and Last cruise! Just got off the Magic this morning. Look what was waiting for us. Our luggage that went on the Valor. We are tired! Our feet hurt and if it wasn't for the outstanding gift shop employees who do not Work for Carnival I don't know what we would have done. They went way beyond what Carnival did for us. NO socks, no shoes, no underwear. No clothes. The amenities kit Carnival gave us didn't even have tooth paste in it. $7 for toothpaste. Carnival comped our Cruise fee only. No taxes, port fees. No let us give you another cruise on us to make it right so you can see how wonderful we are! I'd rather just have a total refund! I would not want to cruise with them again. We wasted so much time in survival mode trying to find clothes and essentials. We love to camp but this was like camping in Hell. I'll make sure this story is told over and over. The kicker having the Carnival Reps at Cape Canaveral tell us that luggage ends up on wrong ships All the time. The Magic told us this Never happens! They dropped 8-12 bags in the ocean too. I think Carnival needs to address the people who work at the port. It makes them bad on top of having nothing to help guests in need. I think Tom Hanks character did better taking care of Wilson. Food was subpar at best. We did pay it forward to the Guest shop employees and one exceptional waiter and bar tender. Ringgo and Anthony! And our tour guide in the DR at Amber Cove. He's got a pair of Columbia water shoes on the way to him. So glad to be in our car and headed home. Blessed to have at the least a few people make us laugh and care. Too bad it was not more Carnival employees. P.S. I noticed a guest mentioned mold on her cruise. We noticed mold on the ceiling of our shower in our cabin. But, honestly it was the least of our worries. Having no under garments, socks, toiletries, medications, etc was more of our concern. We went into survival mode. I was lucky to take important meds with me on my carry on bag. However, other daily meds I did not have. We were treated rudely from the start, given outdated toiletries and Carnival white T-shirts with insulting words on them. "I have a PhD in FUN" how was this fun!? Lied to and then apologized to. Then rushed to get off the ship and close out our account. I'll make sure I keep telling our story over and over! I doubt the Captain ever knew or cared. I was told due to logistics they could not get us off the ship. Was that true? Very scary! We will Never or could ever recommend Carnival to anyone. I'll personally never cruise again. We are still trying to recover from the trip. We are more exhausted now then when we left for the so called "Fun Ship!" AS a result of this experience my family has NO desire to Cruise again. " P.S. We also missed the main port I booked the cruise for due to weather. That was Grand Turk. Instead they took us to the Bahama's to Nassau. What a pit! I can't believe the Captain did not know until literally 10 mins before arriving in Grand Turk that the winds were too high to get us in safely. I get that we could not get in. Honestly, I would have preferred another day on the ship. Nassau was scary and old! Amber Cove was nice but the country (Dominican Republic) is so poor. We felt so sorry for the people that work there. They were incredibly nice at Ocean World. We enjoyed that a lot. Thankfully one positive. We made a few friends there too that we will keep in touch with. The Marine Life and Birds were so well trained. We loved the Dolphin Swim. Incredible!!!! Very neat experience. The staff made it so fun at Ocean World. Read Less

just don't know how or where to start my family and I had never experienced a cruise as horrible as this one, I called and talked to a supervisor just yesterday and also spoke to two other people this is just how horrible I think carnival is when I spoke to the first person and told her I would like to speak to a supervisor I was told there was no such person then after we hung up I called back and spoke to someone else as I was not getting anywhere I was told that I could not be compensated for all the troubles and was told pretty much the same thing I then asked to speak to a supervisor, because I know for a fact everyone has someone higher then them in a business for the simple fact my husband and I own two businesses there is always a president, supervisor, manager etc. What I'm getting at here is that my family and I came back from the cruise more stressed out and upset then before we stepped aboard Carnival Magic. It's sad we saved for this cruise and worked very hard all year to save up for a cruise on Thanksgiving week, we drove 15 hours just to get to florida when the same cruise can be taken out of Baltimore MD. We strictly did not want to go to the Bahamas, we have been there and it was not the best place and I did not want to go back. We paid $ 4,513.36 to visit Grand Turk and Dominican Republic, it was upsetting we just went right past the island and went straight to Nassau, Bahamas due to the captain's request of docking and safety precautions. What I don't understand is how the other ships were docking and we just headed straight out into 40 mph winds. The captain was always behind on time and just needed to get closer to Port Canaveral for his convenience. While stuck on the ship my family and I mostly stayed in our cabin due to the fact there was not much to do, swimming was not in our favor due to the fact babies were sitting in the pool and hot tubs with diapers urinating in the pools and hot tubs that was just unsanitary. Kids were walking around touching all the food, rubbing their hands that they just sneezed in on the fresh fruit and holding the serving spoons not sanitizing before they ate. My husband has a nasty cold due to all the germs. I saw the staff blowing their nose right before making food, level one and two smelled of solid waste. Kids running around knocking into everyone elderly people falling getting hurt busting their arms open and bleeding due to kids dropping ice that had melted on the floor, the jewelry safe in our cabin was faulty I had to request a locksmith to come to our room to get it unlocked. I spent a lot of time standing in guest services fixing problems, my son's key tag did not work our dining was set to sit with other guest we requested a private table ended up with late dinning. The buffet was always so crowded we had to wait in line just to get lunch because the buffet was open at certain hours. We have made it a tradition that every year we would take a cruise we have been doing this since 2011 and never had a problem. I don't see us going on another Carnival cruise in the future it was that bad my family and I could not wait to get off. Read Less

This is our second cruise with Carnival. It was one horrible experience after another. The dining was sooo slow and you could not get them to bring you anything you asked for. Room service was almost non-existent. Dirty dishes in the hallways for hours and sometimes the entire day. Entertainment and Activities were beyond horrible. Dirty old buses, tour guides you could not hear or understand. We tried for weeks to get a detailed bill. When we finally received it, there were charges on it for things we did not purchase. They shut off our A/C for over four hours and banned us from the balcony, which we paid more for over four hours so they could clean it. These are just some of the issues, there were many many more. Tried for weeks to get someone to listen to our issues. Finally got in touch with someone and their only comment was that they forward our issues to the ship to handle. Really ? When I asked for a supervisor, they told me there wasn't one. Read Less
