In short, most of the staff was rude, as were the guests, and the ports of call were a joke.
Although I appreciated the cultural diversity of the staff, there was often a language barrier, and it took a long time to explain a simple request.
The guests were mostly entitled conservatives who thought it was appropriate to incredibly rude to other guests and the staff.
We went to Half Moon ...
We chose this cruise because this is the only week we could go and the carnival elation was the only ship avaliable during this time. This was a five night cruise and the two stops were Nasau in the Bahamas and a private island called Half Moon Cay. We drove over 12 hours to the port in Jacksonville Florida.
There were four of us traveling and we had 2 rooms.
I realize the ship was older ...
First and foremost, let me tell you how AMAZING the crew on the Carnival Ship was. They were soo unbelievably nice. They did everything they could to make sure you had what you needed, and that you were happy. I've never met so many nice people in my life. Especially Merot, who worked with our room. He made sure that we had EVERYTHING we needed. He was super sweet.
Now, let me get to the ...
This was our third cruise. We had previously sailed the Sunshine and the Spirit (both large ships). Extremely happy with this ship. Smaller so the kids had no trouble finding us. We took my in-laws (in their 70s) on their first cruise and they really enjoyed it. The small ship was perfect for them as well.
Food was great. Was disappointed that the ship did not have guys burger upgrade, but ...
We had a great time... the staff was all very friendly... and, the food was great! Our dinner staff headed by Danilo and his team was super. And our breakfast every day at Imagination was excellent and one of the best breakfast we ever had. Also, our housekeeper named Norman and his partner bent over backwards to do everything they could for us. The show at night was very entertaining and all ...
Leaving from Jacksonville was smooth-parked at the Parking Mall across the highway. Cheaper than the other parking area. Embarkation was a little slow but moving. The ship was obviously decorated in the 90's, feels outdated a bit but I am not in need of the decor to be top notch...... the bathrooms and bars were kept very clean.
Staff always cleaning. Food was average.......the Deli was ...
I picked the cruise as I had not sailed on the Elation. Although it is one of the older ships in the Carnival Fleet, that is nothing diffrent about it. It has not had it's ugrade as yet, bit will soon I hear.It does show some wear, but thats not what makes a ship. The crew makes the ship. I have sailed on several ships where I have overheard and heard complaints, or there was a staff member who ...
LOCATION OF THE PORT:We chose the cruise because of the cost and location of port. We live only an hour away from Jacksonville, Florida. This was only our second cruise, our last was with Carnival more than 16 years ago and it was seven days to the Caribbean. First of all let me say, Carnival is inexpensive for a reason.
THE SHIP: This particular cruise ship was the Elation and it looked like ...
This was the first sailing of the Elation out of Jacksonville and in spite of an earlier delay, the ship set sail around 7 PM. The Elation is an older ship in the Carnival line, and from appearances, is just about past its prime. I have no doubt the crew worked tirelessly to keep it going, but, again, in my opinion, time to send it the way of the Holiday. More exposed rust than I've seen on any ...
I went on the Elation because it was out of Jacksonville and not far from home plus we used our RCI certificate on it. I have been on one other cruise 10 years ago on the Valor. The Valor feels like a Marriott while the elation seems more like a days inn. We are in our 30's with a 3 and a 5 year old and maybe the theater theme just wasn't for us. The room seemed really out of date and old and ...
