This was our first cruise and definitely enjoyed it! I would give the staff service 5 stars as they always took care of us at all times! The Cruise director kept everyone informed and the passengers entertained every day. We were not impressed with the food but overall dining was good. The room was very quiet, clean and the bed was really comfortable. (Deck 4 cabin R195) We really enjoyed all the live music playing throughout the cruise. Lady Red at the Piano bar was a favourite! The bartender's were very tentative and professional. I loved the Spa Salon. Not something I normally do but ended up going twice to get a blowout special by Alexander S. Be prepared for bad weather, thankful I had warm clothes and we missed out on Catalina Island but it was for safety. Definitely can feel the rocking at times but we wore a patch and never felt sick. Embarkation and disembarkation went fast and smooth. Read Less

We live locally in Southern California and went on this cruise to celebrate my husbands birthday weekend. We purchased Faster to Fun - embarkation and disembarkation was a breeze. Our room was ready as soon as we stepped on the ship. The ship is not very big and it’s easy to get around. Our cabin in Empress Fwd was nice and clean but we found it to be very noisy all night till 1am. They had some kids activities in a theater right above our cabin involving running and jumping, every night. I wouldn’t recommend this location for the cabin. Dining in the main dining room was good, but service could be little bit better. We never got our meal at the same time for everyone in the party. Your plate gets cold while waiting for your friends plate to be served, sometimes 20min later. They just bring meals whenever it’s ready for each person. Although, day at the sea brunch was very good and we enjoyed tea time in Mardi Grass restaurant. The major surprise was the Chefs table dinner. Beyond everyone’s expectations. It cost additional $75/person but it worth every penny and many more. It’s a truly amazing culinary experience and I will be back on this cruise just for that. Good Entertainment and overall atmosphere makes it Happy time and great place to celebrate any occasion. We liked all the music, theatre performances but most of all the comedy club. All comedians were very funny and we had great time. The gym is nice and there are yoga and spin classes in the morning. We took a spin class which was very good and equipment was in a good shape. Sunday we arrived in Encinada. It’s easy to get out the ship on your own and either take a bus or walk in to a town. There are number of shops, restaurants and bars in few blocks of downtown. We took a tour to 2 vineyards and we were glad we did it. The vineries are ok but ride was very scenic and we could experience a country side while we still had enough time left to check out downtown and visit few shops before the bus took us back to the ship. The disembarkation starts at 7am from Empress level. We carried our bags and left the ship early without any delays. This was overall very enjoyable trip, I only wish we had a different room in a quieter corner. We most likely will be back soon. Read Less

DW & I have been on four other cruiselines and this was our first on Carnival. We went on this one since we wanted to join a large group gathering of about 50 folks. Even though it was a four day Carnival Long Beach-Catalina Island-Ensenada-Long Beach trip from embark Monday and debark Friday, it was still a party crowd. We usually prefer a quiet, refine cruise but wanted to join the many folks we knew. Since there were many we have known for many years, the party type atmosphere worked well and we were pleasantly surprise that we enjoyed it. The cost was relatively inexpensive and we set our expectations lower and were overall happy with the cruise. The Guy's Burgers, deli, and pizza were great. The other dining venues, such as buffet and sitdown dining were disappointing. The servers often did not bring us and others what we ordered. Even request for crackers was given a response of call room server. A request to clean some chairs with food debris was met by the worker slapping the chairs with her dish towel. What was worst was that the sour cream and butter were not fresh, i.e. the potential for an upset stomach or worst. The cabin was larger than other cruiselines for the same category but the restroom had a foul odor that repeated attempts to pour water down the floor drain only partially helped. A number of folks got seasick even though they never had before on other sailings. Being a smaller ship of about 70,000 tons is part of the reason. But more likely it was the short sailing distance between the ports. Long Beach to Catalina is about 29 miles and the sailing was a leisurely 13 hours which meant say 2 miles per hour which is far too slow for the stabilizers to be effective. Also this slow speed means the wave actions will affect the ship more. The shows in the main theater were not Broadway type productions. They were just singing with related dance moves and much of the time was wasted with pulling audience members up to the stage to participate. The timing of the show comedians were too close to the main theater shows so we could not see them. The raffles at the ship stores were a big waste of time. They kept on delaying the start of the drawings and the prizes were terrible, such as a cheap shopping bag. The embark and debark were fast since for the short cruise we did carry on luggage. Embarkation was easy and quick , arrived at parking terminal and was on the boat in less then 45 minutes , we arrived early about 1145. Our arrival time was 1230-100. Once on board the buffet, guys , & couple bars were open . Bags were at our door around 3 room was ready at 130 . There was a tons of activities planned in the afternoon, we attended the fun aboard show which was informative and you have s chance to win prizes from shore excursions to spa credits to wine. Our cabin was a porthole room , spacious for 2 , great little view of the outside world . The bathroom was all in one , shower sink and potty . The water from shower goes all over so don’t leave any dry things laying around or they will be soaked . There was a sewer smell that came from the potty every so often but keeping the lid closed kept it at ease. The cabin would always smell like smoke when we returned to it . Think that was in part to bad ventilation , A tip bring room spray it helps for unwanted odors. We sprayed it up into the air vent. There was always an event going on , too much sometimes you didn’t know which to go to . The comedy , dance and games shows were top hits for us . The piano bar and atrium bar was our optional entertainment . Trivia was held on the atrium & if the cruise director was hosting it was a laugh & good time to be had. Dining was hot or miss the food was either excellent ok or blah , never consistent . The deli & pizza seem to have the freshest tasting food . The main dining room offered many options for anyone’s tastebuds. The fish , rare finds & sides were top hits with us . Shore excursions offered were great , in Catalina it’s best to your on your own since the town is small , so either rent a golf cart , take the local bus or walk . Lots of great restaurants & shops . Ensenada highly recommend a tour to la bufadorA so much to see on way there and once there lots to see , sample & shop . Bargain hunters paradise remember don’t take 1st price and walk when they don’t agree to price, they will chase you down for even better deal. The service on board was top notch , servers remembering your name/order, everyone saying hi , asking if they can help or trying to entertain . The cheers package is great you can try new drinks , plus get sodas & fancy coffee , water & teas too. All without the extra worry of costs . I would recommend this cruise for 1st timers, people who want a quick getaway or a family group cruise . Read Less

Normally my husband and I prefer longer cruises, but this was the first time we'd taken our kids (ages 8 and 6), and we weren't sure how they would do. So we decided a 3-day was the way to go, just to find out how they liked it. The verdict is in -- they LOVED it and are begging to go back. Embarkation was ridiculously easy. Our time slot was at noon, and we'd left the Queen Mary hotel (next door) by 11, thinking we would need time dealing with parking in the garage. We were parked 2 minutes later. Because we had almost an hour left before our time slot, I suggested that we walk over to the water and take some photos. That killed another 10 minutes, so I decided to have us just go through the "early" line, hoping that the wait wouldn't be long. Ha! We literally walked right up. We were on the ship about 5 minutes later, and were relaxing with our lunches by the pool before our time slot even opened. The waterslide area never got crowded. Nor did the pool deck. Super easy to attend shows, too. Just walk right up and get a seat. If you wanted the front row right in the center, come like 5-10 minutes early. Both my daughter and I were contestants on the Hasbro the Game Show and we won consolation prizes. Son and husband got selected as characters in "Horton Hears a Who" reenactment for the Dr. Seuss storytime. Super fun! Daughter and I won the dance contest during the kids Halloween Party in the Rock n Roll Lounge (I was voted Best Mom Dancer and she was Best Girl Dancer). Food was AMAZING, especially the cold soups. That was my attempt at introducing my kids to fancy food. They had cold soups as an appetizer along with their chicken fingers or mac n cheese. Well, you can't win 'em all, right? Husband and I enjoyed the steak and seafood entrees every night. The surf was a bit choppy on our Sea Day, and our sea kayaking got cancelled during our port in Ensenada. No worries -- we'll just have to go again next year for Fall Break! I think we'll do the 4-day this time. Read Less

They use to slide the tags under the door along with your bill. 3. The food is terrible and not cooked thoroughly. This was my wife & I 4th cruise and will be our last. The room was very warm and usually the air conditioning would be cold. The Internet was ridiculous & didn't work at all. 4. The Captain's dinner was nasty & it seemed like the cook rushed to make the food. The shrimp looked & tasted as if came out of a box and was like school cafeteria food. Carnival cruise ship is going down the pits!! If you're thinking about leaving from the port of Long Beach or Los Angels, save your money!! The parking lot spaces for disabled is also RIDICULOUS Only 8 handicap spaces available. Read Less

This was my first time ever on a cruise, I had the BEST time! I spent a lot of time researching the cruise line and reading the reviews of the Inspiration. I have to say there are a lot of mixed reviews out there. I went into the cruise ship with an open mind and ready to have my own opinion of it. I thought it was great. It may be an older cruise ship but I didn't let that stop me from having fun. Food - We had dinner every night in the Carnival Dining Room at 6pm, it was great. The best part was our server SARI, she was WONDERFUL! All the other crew that worked her section with her were just as wonderful as well. The food was great, although the portions are small, its doesn't matter because you can order as much as you want. I wont lie, we all ordered TONS of servings, pretty much one of everything and we shared it all. They even brought my husband and I a heart shaped chocolate cake with candles that said :Happy Anniversary" for us. Guys Burgers, AH-MAZING, the deli was okay, I didn't care for it as much, wish they would add a BLT to that deli menu. We made it to the open buffet only once for breakfast on the last day, it was great. Its the dining room with the weird purple tubes, LOL We never ordered room service so I cant tell you how that was. Drinks - I had a lot of the fruity drinks, a few Cran and Vodkas, they were all great. Our bartenders in the main lobby, Wi and Gerard, were absolutely the BEST!! We have made some life long friends with those 2. They remember our number for our drinks, gave us water when we asked, we got to know them on a personal level. If you have the time while you're having a drink I highly recommend you get to know these two. They were the best! We spent a lot of time in the main lobby bar because of them! Entertainment - My husband and I went to only one show, the Love and Marriage show, it was great. It was like a a real life game show, 3 couples on stage and answering questions about one another. The cruise director NONO was GREAT!! Always involved in all the shows, the entertainment in the main lobby, we had tons of parties late at night in the main lobby. The music was great too. The Casino bar had a great band as well. Cabin - Our cabin was E239, I thought it was fine, I mean do you really spend that much time in your room anyway? The bed was COMFY! We didn't have any noise, nice size. The only thing I would have liked was if the "fake" window was maybe painted to look like an ocean view or a garden, something other then a plain curtain covering nothing... The ports were great. It was my first time at Catalina Island and Ensenada. We rented a golf cart on the island, drove around for a good 2 hrs, stopped at a little Mexican shop and had a drink and tacos. Saw deer, tons of them! In Mexico, we walked around, shopped, ate and drank and ended up at Papas' and Beers....WARNING.....if you dance they get you.....all fun....try it.... Overall my experience on the Inspiration was AMAZING! We will be back again for a longer cruise. The staff was great! Read Less

I had such a wonderful and amazing time sailing with Carnival this past weekend with my mom!! We left from the port of Long Beach and when we got there the atmosphere was already fun! Nono was an incredible cruise director. I don't know how she does it. She has to do so many shows and announcements but manages to do it with inspiration and enthusiasm. Those 70's and 80's sing-a-longs were AMAZING!!! The water slides were fun and so was the pool. I loved ordering a cocktail alongside the pool. I didn't know it was salt water but that made it all the more fun. As far as dining goes, we were at Carnavale and had the first seating. Both Alejandro and Rogelum were so accommodating and so sweet!!! It was first class service!! They even gave me free wine for my birthday and they sang very well. They were attentive and everyone really loved them!! Additionally, when we went to Ensenada La Bufadora tour. Abner was our excursion tour guide and boy was he amazing!! He was so knowledgeable and really brought out the best in Mexico. I learned so much from him. I couldn't believe he was there for only one year. He was such a professional! Also, the burgers were really, really good and so was the fried chicken. Everyone was so nice and I had SUCH a blast with the amazing entertainment. They were incredible!!! Love, Michelle Read Less

Needed a cruise that began and ended in the week of 7/16. This was the one available. When we take short cruises, we often like to go Carnival. they really do provide the most fun. Particularly as the end of the day.. This ship had 2 late night comics, that were hilarious. When I go on Princess and other lines, once the main show is over, there isn't much to do, unless you like gambling or dancing. Many people say that the food on Carnival isn't very good. That hasn't been our experience. While not the gourmet food one finds on some of the Luxury lines, it is more as good as most of the other ships we travel on. Our cabin service, as well as our food servers were outstanding. No issues with service. I've had much more difficulty with the service on Princess, which I usually take. Others providing excellent service include the pool bar staff, and the Customer Service desk. Read Less

For a 4 day cruise this was fun. We are in our 50-60s . Took our 18 year old grandson and his friend. Catalina was nice, rented a golf cart and saw the island, snorkled on our own. decided not to get off at ensenada, had fun playing different trivia games. The food was really good, we did pay extra for the surf and turf and also attended the Chefs Table, which always is exceptional . Went on the Behind the Fun, they really dont promote very well, but really enjoyed seeing the ship from the workers eyes. Especially seeing the bridge and meeting the Captain. Shows were mediocre, Connor the cruise director was the best, just like the energizing bunny. Mijon our waiter in the main dining room was great. Gambled and won, not to bad with the smoke, people are considerate. Smoked cigars and had champagne on the top deck and had a blast with the music pumping. All in all for a short trip it was good. We are all seasoned cruisers and for the price it is a good deal. Positive attitude also helps :) oh and get the Fast pass, breezed through embarkation. Read Less

My husband and I have done this itinerary with Carnival before and decided to do it again. We just love cruising and love Carnival. Everything is easy going, fun, and relaxing. Ship: easy to get around, we really enjoy the water slides (even though we are adults with no kids!), food and drinks are available everywhere. The 1st day the pool was out of service, and it was actually REALLY hot, so we were kinda disappointed (especially since we purchased the faster to the fun and got on early). BUT it wasn't that big of a deal, plenty of other things to go see and do. :) Also, some bathrooms did not work, but they eventually got it fixed. My point is, things don't always go as planned, but they work really hard to get it back to working. Cabin: we had a porthole cabin. It was nice because the porthole gives a little shelf to store stuff = MORE SPACE! But the rest was just as any other room we have stayed in (window/no window). LOL, our toilet seat broke one day. But our steward replaced it right away and was super cool about it. Dining: everything was good. Food wasn't amaaazing always, but it was always good. Lots of options. And of course, the molten chocolate cake never disappoints. This was the 1st time we had "your time dining", and we won't do this again. There is less organization going this route, so be prepared to wait. One time we were sat and had to wait about 15 minutes till others were sat until we could even start ordering. They like to get the whole section ordered at the same time. Entertainment & Activities: We did our usual stuff, casino, trivia, mini golf, pool, comedy shows, karaoke and as usual they are all amazing and fun. BUT the funnest thing we did this time was the late night "Adult" scavenger hunt. This was the 1st time we saw it on a cruise and had a hilariously fun night. If you see it in your schedule, DO IT! :D Service: no complaints. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Take some time to talk to the staff, especially your room stewards. They remembered our name right when we were on board! Ports & Shore Excursions: Ensenada ... we didn't do any planned excursions. There is some shopping right when you get off the boat. You can get some trinkets, jewelry, etc. You can also sit down there and have a beer or drinks. We ended up getting on a bus, which was $4 roundtrip/each of us. Just keep your ticket to get back on the bus. Dropped us off in the shopping area, near Papas n Beer. Walked around, had some food, drinks, shopped. No kids were with us, but I really want to take my niece sometime soon. :) But there were plenty of kids on the ship, tons in the pool. But it is all good. For this cruise, we purchased the "Faster to the Fun" for ~$40 (it's good for anyone in your cabin). We got to get on board early, our room was ready (we got to the port around 12), there was absolutely no line at this time, flew by security, scanned bags, walked up and onto the ship! Literally less than 20 minutes. But the reason we purchased it was because I had to go to work the day we got back. It was GREAT!!! We had a special waiting area which had some pastries, coffee, water, juice. And we got to get off the ship 1st, again no line, no waiting! Definitely, the way to go. You also get priority at the ports, but we didn't use it then. We will definitely go again. We've been on about 5 Carnival Cruises now. We want to try others, but for now we're sticking with Carnival! Read Less

This is my 4'th cruise with Carnival and my 10'th cruise overall. First of all, I have to say I have never been disappointed with the friendliness and aim to please attitude of the majority of Carnival employees! The employees work very hard for not much money and I truly appreciate their constant effort to ensure a pleasant experience for their guests. Having said that I must express my disappointment in Carnival on this particular cruise. First of all, the food quality was very disappointing. There was not much variety at the buffets and the dining experience was sub par to what I am used to. The fact that you had to pay and xtra $20 to get surf and turf where on past cruises with Carnival it is part of the menu. In addition , the food was often times served room temperature and service slow. My advice on this cruise would be to stick to Guy's burgers and the deli! Guy's never disappoints and the deli served fresh delicious sandwiches! Again I don't blame the employees but possibly lack of them. Our room was kept very clean however, the common areas were not. Tables in the eating areas were not cleaned in a timely manner and some bathrooms in the pool deck area were gross!! As far as entertainment, there was a great band in the casino bar and of course the night club was fun but , in my opinion, the comedians in the comedy club were pigs! We are warned if we are easily offended to not attend the late hours comedy club however, I have attended many late night comedy clubs that can be R rated but these guys just had some gross delivery! I am a Californian so I have been to Catalina and Ensenada before. I am very pleased to find that Ensenada now offers more shore excursions than they have in the past which of course you can find cheaper deals outside of booking with Carnival when you get off the ship. The people were super friendly in Ensenada but of course you always have to be careful and be sure to haggle with the prices on everything! All in all I had a great time and would do this cruise again. It's a cheap get away for someone who can drive to the port but if I had to pay for airfare I would choose one of the bigger Carnival ships where there is a noticeable difference in quality. Alot of people choose this cruise as a first time experience as I did but let me just say- It can be better!! Happy sailing! Read Less

This Cruise was perfect for a quick getaway and a party platform for my soon-to-married Uncle. This cruise is a little rowdy but knowing this HAVE FUN. I probably would not bring children on this one. The cruise was very affordable and Carnival did a great job providing top value for the price paid. My Uncle is 84 and the Bachelor party consisted of 35-48 year olds as well as my 84 year old UNCLE. -Check in at the Long Beach Terminal was a Breeze. No lines or Hassles. We arrived at 100pm and were immediately on board. However, the 710 fwy had a lot of traffic, south bound towards the port. -THe Ship is nice. Not the newest but all the amenities were adequate and clean.I was disappointed the pool was not filled until sail away. -The staff were very hospitable. -Our Room E116 was an Interior room big enough for 3. AC worked perfectly. Our room was ready immediately and something new-->Carnival now provides you the room keys outside of your room door in an envelope. -The soap and shampoo are of better quality from what I remember too. -The Food was very good. From Guys Burgers to the Mexican Station. WOW, KILLER SHRIMP and BREAKFAST Burritos. Sea day Brunch always impresses and Dinners were of quality too. I loved the Ceaser Salad and escargot ..The Cheesecake and Molten were awesome. -Entertainment was great. The night club and casino were fun. Actually the Casino paid out a lot this trip. (CRAPS!!!!). The energy was excellent. The Piano Bar, Comedy Club and Karaoke were very entertaining. We never saw a show--> NO TIME :) -Debarkation was extremely quick and what I always do is pack and go up and eat breakfast while the herd is vacating. -FINALLY, this was my first time buying CHEERS. Im too old to smuggle and how much do you really save on a 3 day cruise? I paid the $171 and I drank my money's worth. The Alchemy bar has the best drinks, probably worth 15 bucks plus at a great restaurant. Having 3 blue cheese stuffed Olive, Grey Goose Martinis a night, was a treat. Also being able to consume the Coffee house coffee and Irish coffee was fantastic. The Vitamin waters helped on the ENSENADA day. I really think Cheers is worth it. I debated on this but ultimately I am so happy I spent the money. Knowing all your non alcoholic drinks especially coffee are included was reassuring. I do not like the regular coffee upstairs. This is my 4 mini cruise on Carnival. If I had the time, I would do this monthly. Good job Carnival on providing such a great product for an affordable price. My 84 year Old Uncle ran circles around us. He was in Heaven. I appreciate the guests and employees for making his Bachelor party the BEST. Read Less

My wife and I decided to take this short weekend cruise as we live in the LA area and wanted to do something different for our wedding anniversary. We're no stranger to cruising or Carnival - we have done several cruises before but only 7 or 8 day trips. The 3 day cruise was a new experience for us. We went with an ocean view room on deck 7. I thought I was being smart and picked a room under the galley. My thinking was that it would be quieter than having someone in a room above us. That turned out to be a bad idea - it was the noisiest room I think I could've picked with crashing and dragging noises throughout much of the night. So a word to the wise - don't pick a room under the galley. The embarkation experience went pretty smooth - especially with the Faster to the Fun package with an appointment time. I think we made it on board in record time, I'd be surprised if it took 20 minutes from the time we walked into the cruise center until we put our carry ons in our cabin. The ship we thought was in pretty decent shape for its age and how quickly they cycle it with new passengers. We like the Spirit class of ship so this felt quite different but seemed to have the same amenities we normally enjoy. The room was okay, a little dated but clean. We usually book at least a balcony room but this class of ship has very few of those. You're not really in the room very much other than to sleep and clean up so it wasn't a big deal to us for a 3 day trip. One thing that seemed a little off from our usual, enjoyable experience was the bar service seemed very slow for the most part. We had great service at the Alchemy Bar but the other bars were hit and miss - usually very slow. Another thing to note is that the crowd for this short cruise is much different than the longer itineraries. I wouldn't recommend it for kids or families with younger ones. We're social drinkers - we're in our early 40s and are pretty tolerant of other folks having a good time. But, we did see quite a few people that had over-consumed and had become sick or temporarily unable to take care of themselves. We were awakened a couple times by rowdy partiers in the hallway and at least one fight. Overall, just about everyone seemed to be there to have a good time though some took it a little too far. We have a 15 year old and I'm glad we had him stay home with grandpa, I don't think he would've enjoyed himself. The food overall seemed good and the staff in the main dining room was as good as we've ever experienced. It would've been nice to have the steakhouse as is found on the Spirit class ships but we managed to survive just fine without it. The sea day was nice - lots of activities going on to fill our time. Ensenada is much different than other Mexican ports and we chose to go with the wine tasting tour. We weren't expecting much but were blown away by the wine country just outside of Ensenada. There were vineyards and wineries all over and the quality of the wine was quite good - we brought 6 bottles home and had a fantastic time. Debarkation went fast but we only had carry ons which was great. The US Customs process went really fast. I think between the time we left the lounge on the ship waiting to be released it took perhaps 20 minutes until we were in our car at the parking garage. All in all, we'd do this trip again as a nice way to spend a weekend. Read Less

The room was nice and yes the balcony is small but its nice to have air and early embarking. Not a fan of kids so the Serenity are was our hang out. Good food and really good service. Catalina was a great stop for us. We had good drink service as well. A little cooler than we expected but made the best of it. If I had to do it again, I probably would but I think I would find a more adult cruise with no kids. Not a ton of them on board and for the most part well behaved but I think its strange seeing kids belly up to the bar for soda? Never experienced that before. I also like the curb side service. Saved tons of time. Read Less

I went on this cruise with a girlfriend who wanted to celebrate her birthday. Don't get me wrong we had a nice time but, not like some of the previous ones. I have been on 13 Carnival cruise before this one. It is an older ship. This was the first time I have been on a cruise where they charge $20.00 for a lobster dinner in the dining room. That was a total shock & we did not purchase. The phone in our room would not dial room service, and the handset sounded like a rattle. So we just went upstairs to get our morning coffee. No biggy. The room steward was nice, but we could only get ice in our room once a day. ? Strange. Prior to sailing I was told by a Carnival person I could check sodas on board. Well, after the muster drill my luggage arrived, the sodas were gone & I paid $19.00 for a six pack. Live & learn. The staff was friendly, the shows were good, The glass elevators were not working. I will be sailing on Carnival again, just not a 3 day. Read Less

Let me just preface this review with my age....71 and have sailed 25+ cruises. I prefer to sail carnival because of younger crowd. I have tried other lines and found when sailing with older cruisers dynamics totally different. I like the casino and their casinos are rocking way into the early hours and carnival has a lot of things going on .... again way into the night when younger patrons. I want to be entertained when on vacation and there is plenty to do.....took a cruise on HAL to Alaska and medium age was 60+ and there was nothing to do other than trivia and casino literally was closed by 9 because it was empty. I was very pleasantly surprised at food in dining room....the food has not been great on last couple carnival cruises but this boat had really good food in dining room and it was a nice surprise. I don't sail for food because I can always find something but again, good. Only stopped in Encinada but I highly recommend a local restaurant Guadalajara.....food so good and amazing. There were four of us and had tacos, large bowl of guacamole and coke cola and total bill $14. Cabin steward saw first day and never again but every time we requested something it magically appeared and room nicely maintained. There were a lot of shows and games for adults and children. Customer service very pleasant and because they had given me wrong rating on my card I received a plate of chocolate covered strawberries delivered to room.... Only negative I can come up with is glass elevators in atrium to working .... but who cares...I don't. Read Less

We've been on this cruise before and know what to expect. This time did not disappoint. Only issue (besides no balconies) was having to pay extra for Lobster. In my post-cruise review for Carnival, I said this is a key enjoyment feature of cruises, and not the place to save money. Ship is nice, our room was fine, with free water supplied due to our VIFP status. Our room steward put in the requested ice at each cleaning, and we never had to ask a second time. Our wait staff was wonderful, and the comediennes in the late shows were beyond funny. Didn't miss any show. Not the all time greatest ship, but we love this short getaway, and are always happy upon our return. If you know what to expect, you'll almost always be satisfied. Lastly, once again, I was foiled by the prices and styles of the watches on the cruise. Every time, I say I won't get another watch, and as usual, I break down and get one. Price was extremely good, and without the outrageous taxes where I live (LA). Read Less

As a travel agent, I booked these 3 & 4 day cruises all the time. I really wanted to do one and see what it was all about. From the second we got on the ship to the last second we got off, we were treated with such respect from all the staff. One of my highlights was when they introduced the Captain and his staff. My wife and I had the drink package (which I recommend) so we were going to all the bars. At the Alchemy Bar, the bartender was a very funny sarcastic person to joke with. The Captain and his staff were all at the bar as well. My wife told me I should get a picture with the Captain. I walked over to one of his staff heads and asked if I could get a picture. As soon as I asked, he immediately stopped everyone and called over not only the Captain but there entire group. My wife and I stood next to the Captain surrounded by all his managers and department leads. Talk about service! i do not like to tell people that I am a travel agent because I want the natural experience. Overall the cruise was fantastic! PS The slide is a lot of fun for adults too! Chose the cruise knowing it was a simple four night, to two mediocre locations. ITS a getaway cruise not a discovery cruise. Catalina Island can be accessed by a two hour ferry ride from the Los Angeles Area. Ensinada is essentially Tijuana with a waterfront. SO WHY GO?? The sea day is relaxing, the boat small, gaudy by kind of nice and the service was pretty good. The day in Catalina Island is fun. WE rented a golf cart [make sure you reserve one before your boat arrives] and toured the Island. And after two hours there is NOT that much to see, so if you want to enjoy the Island, plan an activity at least one in the day. NOTE: the Tenders are a pain in the butt, but understand they must be utilized because the Cruise lines are NOT allowed to dock at the port and they cannot build a real port on Catalina Island for environmental reasons. NO real need to get off the boat early, but be efficient. Getting back is a pain in the ass because everyone wants to spend as much time on the Island as possible, and after 330 you will wait. But if you are on line by 330 [they claim that the last tender is at 4PM you WILL get back to the ship]. Ensanada is a slum that sells stuff you really don't need. However, it was a fun day. Took a horse ride with my Mrs. and spent a couple of hours in the shopping area buying all the crap we really don't need. Food was VERY VERY GOOD, however, there is an issue with the layout of the galleys on the ship so the service for dinner was slow Rooms are small [it is an older "fun ship" Shopping on the ship was interesting and very gracious staff HOWEVER: Carnival, enough with the nickel and diming on everything. its silly with the pictures already. I had U116 and my steward was great. Embarkation: nuisance to be expected. BTW- cheapest place to park is adjacent to the ship. We stayed at the Hilton and found a cheaper online hotel rate with Priceline and then parked at Carnival for 19/day. The shows on board were GREAT, did not expect to enjoy them as much as I did. At our 58th anniversary we booked a four days since we live in Yorba Linda, approximately a 45 minute drive to the cruise ship. The drive was easy but in the morning there are a lot of truckers with containers on the same road. There was plenty of parking in the garage at 11:00 am. There is a seven minute walk from the garage to the ship. Check-in was uneventful, except now you cannot bring bottled water to the ship. It was taken away, also empty bottles so you can't refill them. Southern California had a cold spell when we started our cruise. The main disappointment for our cabin and the ship as a whole was: "The ship has not heat". Yes, that's right, no heat in the cabin, or on the ship as a whole, only air conditioning. At age 82 I get cold. We ask for portable heaters, but he cruise line said they have none; it would create a fire danger. We were supplied with extra blankets, and we slept in our pajamas plus wrapped in the bathroom robes. The ship's carpet were fairly new and clean and the personnel was super friendly. Only the Carnival Inspiration has a unique buffet room decorated with shining 8" winding pipes, lit with at the end with a lighted dome, that felt to us like snakes all over. We dined thereafter in our assigned dining room. That was nice, but no more white tablecloths, except on fancy night. Formal has been done away with. On the plus side, the Aft deck has large and small water slides, that should be great fun for kids in warm weather. Read Less

Chose this cruise mostly due to restrictions on time. Only had Friday through Monday available. Starting out on a cold windy rainy day was our of our control. Luckily Carnival let us on ahead of our scheduled time, hopefully this let some others in early missing when the rain started. The dining was wonderful. Due to the late embarkation (purely caused by weather, not the cruise line) first dinner was random seating. I asked that night if we could be switched to a table for just two. The next morning there was a not slipped under out door stating our wish had been granted. After looking around more in the dining room I was amazed they were able to grant that since there weren't many tables for only two, The service in our room was just perfect. Couldn't have been any better. We hadn't planned on a shore excursion yet left the ship anyways since there were was a place to shop right next to the ship. Tom D. Read Less

My family and I went on this cruise for the superbowl. While the cruise it;s self wasn't too bad the food at the Captains Table was AWFUL! We went 4 times (I dont know why) and each visit was worse that the other from food with awful taste /no taste, to served cold not one meal was worth the effort. I also came into contact with the Customer Service Manager who was rude and dissmissive when I inquired into items removed from my siutcase. This woman did NOTHING!!! If this what cruise life is about I don't thnk I will be spending any more money for this cruiseline. I also was not happy with staff in my room repeatedly throughout the day, each time we left they came in. This was not a comfortable feeling. I've also never had more trouble obtaining water in my life this was absolutely ridiculous! Read Less

We wanted a mother and daughter getaway and the hot tub she had bought me came either with a 2 night trip to Vegas or 4 night cruise on Carnival. So naturally we chose the Carnival cruise as we had cruised Carnival before. We had an amazing time, bought the Faster to The Fun and got on the ship really quickly, our cabin was ready and our room steward welcomed us by name, impressive! It is great to cruise near Christmas time as the ship was decorated for the season! Large ship which was great so we did lots of walking from one end to the other and almost always took the stairs rather than elevator. we walked over 38 flights of stairs a day Our cabin was configured as 2 twin beds so we had lots of floor space, and ocean view. AS it was an older ship , no balcony, but for 4 nights that was just fine. Good sized bathroom with shampoo and shower gel provided in the shower. We were on Main Deck, mid ship. We chose early dining, there was also late and your time dining. We liked the early sitting for dinner, but due to the low ceiling the restaurant was very noisy and it was difficult to hold a conversation with our table companions. We had breakfast up on the Lido deck, there was 24 hour ice cream and pizza, and room service. The food by the pool area would change. Good choice of food. I loved the cold fruit soups on the dinner menu. Entertainment was good, nothing was very long usually about 1/2 an hour but well done. The Punchliner Comedy Club offered PG and adult comedy shows. We went to every one! Then there was Bingo if you wanted it, not me, and the Haysboro Game Show and some others. The parties on deck were not well attended as it was rather cool but the parties in the atrium were well attended. It's amazing how possesive and inconsiderate people get over a simple bead necklace that is thrown out to the crowd. Some share while others push and shove and hit you in the face just to get that 10th necklace!!! The program for children was Dr Seuss and they have lots of fun activities too. The service was excellant, our room steward Manuelito was awesome, not quite so impressed with the dinner staff, they were frindly but not quite so enthusiatic as some other waiters. We were always welcomed back as previos guests wherever we went on the ship. WE went prasaling in Catalina Island and that was so much fun, I was nervous before but it was well planned and once harnessed in we just lifted off the back of the boat! Awesome views and so quiet up in the air. We went horseback riding in Ensenada and really enjoyed that once we got used to sitting in the saddle. it was much warmer up in the mountains. The excursion not to be missed was the Behind The Fun, you need to book this as soon as you get on the ship as it is limited to 16 people on the at sea day. It takes you behind the scenes on the ship and is very interesting. No camereas are allowed but they do do take a phoo of you with the captain ind give it to you as part of the tour. We also got a lovely dessert plate in our cabin from the Chef de Cuisine thanking us for visiting. a great tour!! In all we loved the ship and everything in it, just a tip if you like like flavoured teas take your own as they charge extra for anything other than black tea. Lemonade was amazing!! Oh and if you want to enjoy the spa treatments, tey are not cheap and they really try yo push sales , but the hot stone massage WAS great!! Read Less
