Just not for seniors! Bars are late and excessively loud, too much smoke in the casino, bands not good - the whole experience was not our cup of tea. We have traveled a lot and this is the first time on Carnival and it will be our last.......... The big show was awful....no one on pitch, cheesy themes! Only one band was good - Free at Mightnight and they didn't play enough around the ship. The staff in the dining room and our cabin steward were wonderful but the rest of the staff we found to be indifferent and at times rude. Food was good but too sa]ty for some of us. Wait staff in the brunch area on sea days need training....... we sat there for over 10 minutes before we got service and even at that we had to ask for it........ overall, the waitstaff needs better training if they are going to be in that area. And it was obviously that the big boss was not respected....he asked the waiters to do something in a very nasty tone and the looks on their faces said everything you needed to know - he is just a big bully! We subscribed to the spa only to find that the water was never warm inspire of talking to management and the heated chairs were lukewarm, again talking to staff. They were just vey indifferent. And getting on and off the ship was a ZOO! It was so disorganized! Not a good example of what good and true cruising can be. Read Less

We took this particular cruise because of "extra" entertainment shows offered through the travel agent we booked through. That part was fabulous! We paid extra for a balcony mid ship room 6363. Not a great room to pay extra for. Turns out, it's exactly above the casino lounge on 5. Since this was a cruise to Mexico, it made sense that the entertainment there most nights was of the Salsa/Mariachi type music. Unfortunately, since we were right above it, the entertainment was piped live into our cabin every night until Midnight. Fortunately, both my husband and I find the sea magical when trying to sleep and were able to dose off without much effort. But light sleepers or people just wanting a little peace and quiet should stay away from this cabin. Having said that, the cabin was very comfortable, clean and easy to get anywhere from there. We signed up for the Meet and Mingle with the Carnival crew and other cruise critic guests. No one from Carnival showed up except the staff that brought us some snacks to enjoy and then left after telling us these refreshments were for us. I understand that this is a new function to Carnival, but I don't think they understand how much we were looking forward to meeting at least part of the Senior crew. All crew/staff on board was extremely kind and seemed well versed in saying sorry. If the right occasion should arise in the future I would go on Carnival again, but most likely will go back to my two tried and true cruise lines, Norwegian and Holland America. Read Less

Our service from maruta, sherme, and rambat as are waiters and servers was excellent and enjoyed them. Very polite and friendly did there job very well and i will tell everyone i know about how nice it was. The fitness center was top of the line. The shopping on board and shops were nice. Both excursions i was on were good and service was extremely good too. Jimmy jack foundation was treated with respect and staff did a good job with giving us are time for our music, devotions and equipment moving. On deck staff was also very helpful finding places on deck. Everyone i asked always pointed me in the right direction and were polite. Food was tremendous again and there was alot of varieties of dishes. The head staff was excellent on explaining what we had to do to get off and in case a emergency what to do. All in all it was a great experience for me. Amen and God Bless Read Less

Disembarkation - an unorganized mess; couldn't find customers items purchased at port; didn't package Duty FREE items appropriately for boarding plane, although they said our items were ok for travel. CABIN - OK for slumber after a day and night of drinking so you do not notice the mattresses need replacing DINING - WOW, the worst. How would you like to be served burgers, pizza and ice cream daily. Real cuisine seafood platters, snow crabs, shrimp, sushi and alike all cost extra. You couldn't even get a daily salad bar and fruit bar. The breakfast buffet was delicious and plentiful. ENTERTAINMENT and ACTIVITIES - no frills;FUN SHOPS opening organized for ship photo ops, not customer satisfaction SERVICE - my room attendant was great. PORTS and SHORE EXCURSIONS - FREEPORT and ATLANTIS BAHAMAS were both wonderful places to port; Freeport is the best! it was a group cruise. embarkation and disbark was a breeze even with a child. we had plans for the ports so that was the focus of the cruise. Cosumel at the Chankanaabe (sp) park was fantastic even though it was too windy for snorkeling. Mayan replicas were extensive with a tour. sea lion show, great mexican buffet, we could see the dolphin experience through windows while eating the buffet. Awesome beach area. Dining on the ship: The evening meal was really good but you either have something fantastic like the seafood pasta dish, escargot and of course the chocolate melting cake (absolutely to die for) or you have something like basa (look it up, its a fish from vietnam that is cheaper on the market than cod and probably full of chemicals) its a fish that is on the don't eat list on youtube. we had the flat iron steak which was good, no complaints with that. Lobster one night only. prime rib 2 nights and fillet minion also. Ribs were some of the best I have ever had. Soups were good. Dining service was excellent, we saw the same people serving at the breakfast buffet as the evening dinner, they work very hard, other sites say the gratuities paid with the cost of the cruise is a surcharge and doesn't get reflected in the salary of the servers or the stewards so please plan on tipping. The buffet (deck 9) is like old country buffet. Some things were terrible (don't eat any fruit pies, my friend said its like cardboard with fruit on it). They need more coffee machines! coffee was out about half the time. But, the key lime pie was to die for. rum balls on the chocolate extravaganza were heavenly. we did the sit down breakfast in the dining room 2x and that was really good. Guy Furrers burgers and fries were good. deli sandwiches were good. Heres the low down on the bottomless bubbles. the only way to get soda is to stand in line at the bars. bar tenders don't want to serve you, it can take 20 minutes to get a soda with half the glass ice. They expect to be tipped. This cruise line needs a touch screen machine for soda! Even if it was only on the lido deck it would be better than the set up now. we barely got our moneys worth on that because we finally gave up on it. entertainment: not enough to do at all with my teen. shows were poor compared to my other cruise (I don't remember what line we were on then, it was years ago). very little for family friendly shows, some entertainment was in bar areas. movie night on the pool deck was fun 1x while in the hot tub. miniature golf was fun. one small pool for families and 5000 passengers. we stayed in the cabin after dinner most nights. Suggestion for carnival: at least have servers get drinks, coffee for people eating at the buffet, that would at least feel like we are being treated better than a free breakfast at a hotel. Shows need something like broadway reviews or performers, magic shows, something! I didn't get wifi but heard people complaining throughout the trip how slow, no service etc no matter what level you buy. I have seen the profit that carnival makes (reported on the internet) and this is shameful that lobster is served once, poor shows and the possibility that they are using the gratuities collected to pay the staff their base salary as opposed to a "tip" I hate to say this because of the hardworking staff but all in all this was an economy cruise. I would hate to see one with less amenities than this. I did not shop around for cruises because we were with a group so maybe this was the economy level. This cruise gets you where you want to go. I booked this cruise maybe 9 months before we sailed. This was a return of an annual party cruise trip I used to throw for friends and family. I was disappointed at the time that I could not book it as a 'Group' trip as I had in years past, so I could not take advantage of the cocktail party or room comps that sometimes go along with them. Regardless, I was able to get my travel partners to use my reservation code and link theirs, so we could all sit together at Dinner. I learned about 1 month prior to our departure that Carnival had made this date cruise a theme cruise called 'Country Booze Cruise' which included bands, parties and all. This was a huge group for sure, which explains why the 'group' reservation option was not available to me at the time. Once on board however, all my quips re the Group thing went away. I purchased the 'Faster to the Fun' package so I could get on as soon as possible, and also so we could debark early. It was well worth the price. We were the VERY FIRST people off the ship, and some of the first on board. I have done many cruises, and enjoy the party aspect of them. This weekend cruise is perfect for that purpose. I have done this one before (weekender to Ensenada), on Carnival Paradise, as well as several RCCL ships, and hands down this was the best to date. This is solely because of all the Country Music and People and Attitudes. I am hoping Carnival does this Country theme again. This really was the reason this experience was so good. Dancing and Music was non-stop. People's attitudes were amazing and everyone was smiling all the time. So much fun was happening everywhere and by everyone. Food was fine. Drinks were fine. I loved the PYOB (Pour Your Own Beer) stands. I was able to drink Heineken and the Carnival beer for ~$4.75 out the door. Couple things I noticed different from past cruises... - I never met my cabin steward. He/She did a great job and I have no complaints, but I wonder if because of pre-paid gratuities this is becoming more of the norm? - It was hard to get drinks at pool bars. Many people now do the Cheers program (up to #15 drinks/day for around $55/day. I wonder if because of this, and Carnival has your money already, if there is less incentive to push drinks, therefore less desire to hustle and serve customers. Seriously, I waited 30 minutes at a bar for a drink, and it was not that crowded. There was not many waiters walking around taking drink orders near the pool either, so getting drinks near the pool was a challenge. Again, I loved the PYOB stands for this reason as well. My 15 year olds were not able to meet many other teens on board. I think because of the Theme 'Country Booze Cruise' that may parents chose to not take their kids. Not many younger kids either. Despite this they had a great time. Loved the 24-hour Pizza and Ice Cream. Also, Guy's Burgers are AMAZING! All in all, a great cruise, and cannot wait to do this again. Read Less

The Alchemy Bar was a great addition and high quality. Rooms were fine. Really wish they had balcony rooms but we made do with the Oceanview stateroom. Lots of storage and good size bathroom. Few improvements for the ship. Wish the pool had been heated. It was COLD!!! Also wish the kids club was bigger. Looks like it was an afterthought. All in all it was a nice 4 day getaway. Catalina was beautiful. Could have stayed there for two days. We could do without Ensenada. Not my favorite port. Too many people trying to sell you junk and I felt like we were always trying to be taken advantage of. Not the cruise lines fault. Just my opinion. Read Less

It's the best vacation we had so far, our family really enjoyed the whole trip. wonderful food, enough entertainment for all the age groups, real professional staff are in store for all. My kids are ready to take one more cruise immediately. Our time is well spent for three days, age groups wise programs in circle-C are very good. we had a family golf for the first time on the top deck, it's a pleasant time on the sea. I would suggest every one to take the cruise at least once to get the wonderful experience. Improvement opportunity is to add more Indian/Veg food and make the photographs a bit reasonable for every one to buy more. Shoreline excursion is a bit disappointment, we could not get the expected experience at La bufadora, geyser height is very less and the flea market is boring and not at all interested with the low quality products. It left from Mobile - which we can drive to the morning of sailing from Atlanta. We were taking 17 family members. Convenient. We took 17 people in 8 cabins. 80 yrs. old - 1 year old. My personal part would be my cabin and the cabin with my mother and two daughters (20 and 17). The food was just OK. Ordered from the steak house twice and was disappointed both times. Did not live up to $20+. Entertainment was so so. Amount of on board activities for a ship with 2000++ passengers was limited. It was cold and rainy the last sea day and there was nowhere or nothing for that many people to do. Would I do it again? Maybe for the convenience. But I would know what to expect. Walked off the boat nearly last (LOL) and we were back home with a lost - time change hour - by 4:00. OH- The ship was VERY VERY rocky. Worst any of us have been on and everyone except one adult and the 1 year old have cruised 3-8 times each. My 20 year old had to go to the medical center and get a shot for motion sickness $78. I marked no children because the 1-year -old belongs to my niece and I had limited contact with him. His mom, dad, and grandparents took constant care of him. Read Less

Finally decided to sail away for Christmas. We had a group of 12 consisting of ages from 13-65. The ship was beautifully decorated, the staff was wonderful and the weather was almost perfect. We had a forward cabin w/window on deck 7 that overlooked the "public" deck. The room was smaller than I anticipated, having stayed in this category cabin before. However, our cabin steward was awesome. He went above and beyond to accommodate our every wine glass, xtra towel request and made sure our cabin stayed spotless. Chloe was the CD, she was fun and full of energy. The only thing lacking seemed to be the food this time. Portion sizes in the dining room were very small(filet the size of a silver dollar) and the overall quality and selection was lack luster. We ate more meals on lido due to the time it took to have a not so great meal in the dining room. We chose "my time dining" and it was a cluster at most times. I will not be choosing that option again. Ports we mostly good, Amber Cove was a fun relaxing day, Santo Domingo was just ok, Curacao was beautiful and was wonderful to see the sunset while at port, Aruba by far was the best, never disappointed there. We did the North Shore Jeep Tour with ABC Travel and had a blast. Highly recommend them. Overall, we had a fabulous time, there were a few disappointments but nothing that could ruin our trip. To start with embarkation was a little disorganized but did not take an excessive amount of time. We chose 1:00 to 1:30 arrival time which I recommend. They seem to stick to the schedule at this port. We were able to go straight to our cabins without purchasing FTTF. The Buffet was not crowded at this time either. My only complaint on the Conquest was that our steward was not as attentive as others we've had in the past. Usually we meet them right away and at least have a quick introduction chat. We had to call guest services for our needs the first day. We wanted to have the balcony dividers put down so that we could join our party of four cabins and they were not able to do so. Several calls later we were told it wasn't a possibility on our floor. I'd love to know if this is true or if they did not want to take the time. Later we had an issue in the bathroom that was quickly solved and we did get other things when we asked for them. I thought that both the food and entertainment on this ship were the best of all the Carnival ships we've been on. We did not do any specialty dining on this trip so that's saying a lot! The shows and activities were top notch and included plenty of variety. The new serenity deck is nice. We got to watch a sunset from there after leaving Half Moon Cay. We did private shore excursions since we were with a big group this time. The ports were all as scheduled which was nice. Grand Turk was our favorite. The tenders to Half Moon Cay take all morning. This was a surprise to me. We did not get tickets early thinking we were in no rush and would let the crowd out first. However the crowd was not done tendering until 12:30 pm. We didn't get a very long beach day because of that, but I should have done my homework on the tenders at this port. Get your tickets early! Disembarkation was the fastest I can remember. We carried our own luggage and our floor was called first. We walked right off the ship with no lines anywhere. Our group ranging from 14 to 50 in age had a great time. There is plenty to do and lots of room to spread out. I didn't see the congestion on this ship that I normally see. I don't know how that happened because we sailed right before Christmas and the sailing was sold out. The Conquest is a well maintained ship with enough of the upgrades to make us not miss being on a newer ship. Read Less

I have am a slight handicapped passenger. i did not need a wheel chair. I had preregistered on line and the curbside support was great. the first dock people in the terminal were more interested in text on thier cell phones and not helping the passengers. when I asked what time I had to board she said its on my boarding pass. No zone was or number was on the pass that I made on line. I am a gold member and that meant nothring. I had signed up for a 12:30 boarding time and the not attentive two gate agents siad you wil jjust have to wait. when i was charging my phone I can what appeared to the supevisor or the gate area and she said I could have boarded already. We finally started the process of getting onto the ship. That is when all service disappeared. We go to the room after waiting and hour in the buffet area. the buffet line was over an hour wait. there was no assistance offered and I finally gave up and went directly to the salad bar. for a ship with over 3000 guest I would have thought more possible stations then the pasta hamburger and buffet areas would be open. the pizza was also an hour wait and the hambuger and pasta areas were also an hour wait. why the main dining rooms werent open I have no clue. When qwe got to the room. the 3rd wasnt there. We had expected a drop down bed but instead with had a trundle bed with a reaslly crappy mattress. No one was answering the steward line and no one was answering the service line. we finally went to the front desk another 45 min wait. Once I got the desk I was completely rebuffed with the fine print of the contract. if we had been told it was a trundle bed we would not have reserved the extended balcony for three. we would have gotten a standard balcony wiht the drop down ben. I asked for wheel chair assist and waited over 25 min. so my first 4 hours with Carnival were horrible. No food. room number ready and no wheel chair every showed up. when I gave up on the wheel chair another supervisor who was directing the traffic asked if he could help. My legs at that point had giving out and caused me to fall. Again no help from a staff to get up or get a wheel chair. then the continuous annoouncements. We douldnt understand and single word fo the announcements. if the ship needs to do this as load as they are it needs to be fixed. the announcements at 10 am and later should be eliminated and teh training load horns on the cozumel day were horrible. I thinki I load the hearing from laying out on the serenity deck. The food on the ship was about mcdonalds level of tastiness. poor soups, same deserts every night and the meat was 1/2 rate. this was my 11th crusie and 10th with carnival my gold level on this cruise ment nothing except the pin. no captains toast and nothing in docking etc. The service team needs to go to jet blue RCCL or southwest about service. our room steward was decent and no one got an additianal tip. I should have actually reduced all of the tips to $0 dollars. I was with 10 other men and trying to get carnival to get us onto a single table was like asking moses to party the red sea. We ended up with drunk lady that pissed off one of our guest who was celebrating his birthday and we ahd men at 3 other tables. The pizza was only decent. for the wait I would have expected more. It was basic but very greasy. I asked for vinegar for my fries and was told they didnt have any. IN all of my cruises on carnival I looked forward to different appetizer and never turned away a main because the pasta, sauce or meats were great. the sauses were average, the plate was filled with stuff that didnt look or taste good and the desert bar at the buffet was the same stuff each day. I guess the desert chefs have been allowed to serve substandard fare. I will not take the Victory again. I have had a ton better service on teh smaller ships like sendation and facination. and the ship we had in Alaska. I think we will use RCCL and celebrity for future cruises. Read Less

We enjoyed all the special activities that Carnival had planned for those sea days. There were dance lessons, including hula, island crafts classes, seminars, cooking demonstrations & too much more to list. We enjoyed each & every port stop too. This was such a wonderful relaxing way to visit the islands. This was our 1st cruise as platinum guests. We enjoyed the easy embarkation & other perks of being platinum. I have to say to start off with..I am now a cruiser for life. We choose this cruise for the cost and time of year. It was a fundraising cruise for my sons Special Olympics sport team. We found out Carnival Cruise lines offer this and decided to try it out. We spent several months submitting paperwork to get it approved..with lots of humps in the road..but finally got it done. I am very glad we did. We raised a good amount for our team. For the Cruise...Everything was great. Embarkation was smooth and timely. We arrived at our appointment time and was on the ship in plenty of time to hit the food on the lido..great! Our cabin was was roomy enough for my daughter and i to enjoy it when we were in their. I love the balcony, plan on looking into larger ones in the future..but for her and I it was fine. I would be ok with inside or oceanview and spend my mornings on the serenity deck. I love that area..plenty of loungers not towel hogs at all on the 2 Carnival cruises I have been on.. plenty of space. Hammocks, clamshell beds all over the place. I have to say I did not watch any movies on the Dive in Theater this cruise. My daughter did. The movies did not interest me. I played Bingo and won $400 yeahh.. I went to the casino a couple of times..shopped a little..loved it. I enjoyed the dining room..we had late dining but was able to get switched to early to be able to have dinner with a few of a friends and from our group to eat together. The staff was great..we had a fun group of guys. Joshua was one of them, I can not remember the other names right now..,.we got pics with them our table was # 323 early dining. The Maitre D was absolutely wonderful. He found out one of our families had been in a wreck on the way to the cruise and he made sure they had anything and everything in the cabin and special dinner if they felt like coming to the dining room which they did. Wonderful time and great people working on The Freedom. I highly recommend booking this ship again!! I love the ports. We had no problems in Jamica even going off away from the port..all we did was shop there and Grand Cayman we went to the public beach and then did some shopping there also. Cozumel we shopped..and relaxed. The debarkation was crazy..we all stood in hallways and those with suitcases small enough could go sit in the theater or lido,..and waited til our decks were called..then off to our cars we went!! Thank you It was an amazing trip and already have next years booked asgain as a fundraiser for our team..cant wait!! Read Less

Our Carnival experience was a complete disaster. Throughout the duration of our trip, we spent a large portion of our time at customer service. When we first arrived at our stateroom, we were overwhelmed with the odor of cigarette smoke. We immediately notified guest services due to it irritating our sinuses. We were informed that they would bring in an air purifier. In the meantime, we decided to go eat lunch. After about an hour in a half, we returned to our rooms to find that they hadn’t fixes the issue. We saw an attendee in the hallway and asked her if she could address the issue. We left the room again due to the strong smell. Hours later we returned, and the air purifier was in our room. During this time, we realized that our AC was not working and was intermitted throughout the rest of the trip. The next major issue was the intense rocking of the boat due to technical issues caused by 1 of the engines going out (that’s what we were told at least). During this time, I fell and another member of our group which resulted in her going to the infirmary. She still has bruises on her hip and I have a scrap on my knee. The last major issue we had was a leaky ceiling in our stateroom. We heard dripping and noticed our ceiling was leaking. We went to customer service and Luis and another employee in white came to our room to see what was going on. They put a trash under the leak and told us they would contact the plumber. We were told all our stuff needed to be moved and packed because the plumber would have to remove the ceiling panels to fix the issue. Throughout the night we could not sleep because of the constant dripping sound. Once again, we were not comfortable on our vacation. After hours of going back in forth to customer service the next day the plumber fixed the issue. At this point, we were ready to get off the boat due to all of the awful experiences, but had to stay on the boat even longer due to the “propulsion failure” which I’m sure you all were aware of. The delay greatly affected our travel, work, and family plans. Overall our entire vacation was by far the worst I’ve experienced traveling through Carnival. This trip was not worth the investment or time in my opinion. Read Less

We had a great cruise. Galveston has streamlined the embark experience with minimal lines and check ins. We arrived during our appointment window and were on the ship in less than 30 minutes. Overall we had a great experience. We noticed that we had already seen the 80s and Beach music/variety shows but really enjoyed the Lip Sync battle! Comedy shows were hit or miss for PG and R venues. We enjoyed that Carnival always used the BIG cherries in drinks! Our first time purchasing the Cheers and Bottomless Bubbles packages. We didn't like that the kids had to get their soda from the bar and sign bills, too much to ask of a child. Our dining service was good, we had a large seating group! We disembarked with self assist, waited in the lounge for about 45 minutes then off the ship in less than 30 minutes! Always a great way to spend time with family on a budget. Read Less

Embarkation: really no complaints, was able to register at miami airport and walked right on the ship. room wasn't ready, so we grabbed something to eat on the lido deck. Ship: there are simply just too many people on this ship. Everything we wanted to do there was a line for. We were fine with taking the stairs if elevators were always full. they cramped all these people on this ship (just for the money). i was so excited because this was a new ship. i paid more $$ because it was turkey day. I'm a season cruiser and truly was very disappointed. i would rather cruise on the older ships. this one everything was about the money. never got a chance to do the sky ride or water slides because of the crowds. I have never written a review but i was determined once i got home to do so. Cabin- nice balcony, tiny room with no chairs or couch. Bathroom on the same..they use to leave you a gift basket and robe to wear while cruising... No more...they use to clean your cabin twice a day...now it's once. no dressers but has two double closets. Dining: seem like all the "good food" you had to pay food. guy burger joint no seasoning. the buffet was better than the dining room. just to many people for the buffet. the bbq place close at 2:30 (was disappointed with that). main dining room was very disappointing. our waiter seemed to argue with us about our selection. only used linen on dress up days. was there celebrating my anniversary and several birthday...said they didn't know anything about it. Entertainment: so so... Ship decor - not impressed. i was looking for this havana feeling... Palm trees are fake. I did enjoy the over 21 hot tubs in the Serenity Lounge Excursions: carnival just charges to much for the excursions, so we took cabs. Itinerary: get up early and come back between 2-4. check your sail and sign accounts. We paid our gratuity before going on the cruise and it showed up over drafting my account. Bottom line no more new ships expensive and seems like carnival isn't into people pleasing no more. Btw they have 4 more ships coming out like this...child please... Read Less

We chose this cruise to experience newest ship, booked 18 months in advance so we could have the cabin of our choice. I dont care for the mega ships of other lines ,however the familiarity of the carnival line makes each ship feel like home. The ports were great all except la , ramona, the island is definitely third world. We rented trikes on aruba and had a great time in grand turk and caracas. The was amazing we didn't get to explore it like we wanted to as we were with a handicapped friend. So we booked another cruise on vista for this may 2018.. The specialty dinning is great. I will write more after the next cruise but so far it was great.a suggestion to disabled and handicapped, rent a scooter .they are inexpensive and will make your time more enjoyable on the bigger ships.the ships crew was magnificent and very atantive. The disembarkation did not go smoothly. They need to station two staff members on each floor to guide the guest out. There was no staff on the 2nd floor to guide us to where to go to disembarkation. It was confusing. But after all we were guided off the ship. The staff and service were excellent. At midnight there need to be a another food area open instead of pizza pirates. The line was very very long, but we finally got our pizza. I would travel again on the carnival liberty but have my room in the middle of the ship. Our room was located in back of the ship, we felt every part of the ship moving side to side with the rough water. The dining experience was wonderful, the staff were good bring out food to us quickly and hot. They were very friendly. The steward for our room was excellent. Clean linen! Read Less

What a fantastic cruise. My congratulations to the Celtic Thunder, Rose Tours and Carnival Cruise Lines for the awesome cruise we were on. My mom, who is 87, had a great time meeting all the members of the Celtic Thunder and all the other groups that were onboard. My thanks to Barbara from Rose Tours for all of her help before and during the cruise, she managed to get my mom (who is handicapped) and I some of the best seats in the main theater. There was so much entertainment on the ship that we had a hard time getting to all of the shows. We were very happy with all the shows that we did see, which was probably about 90% of the shows. The crew on the Sensation did a fantastic job of cleaning up the ship after the prior cruise passengers who were partying 24 hours a day on their cruise. As always on any Carnival ship the crew was great, the food was very good and disembarkation was the best I had ever seen. I loved the way the members of the Celtic Thunder were always walking around the ship and would always stop to talk or sign an autograph. The guys are awesome gentlemen and truly great people. They have awesome voices and put on great shows. It was a pleasure to meet Elaine from Ireland who works in the merchandising and ticket sales departments, she is another fantastic person. Being a VIFP Platinum member with Carnival, I know what to expect from Carnival and the onboard crew and was not at all disappointed. Awesome from shows Celtic Thunder, well organised concerts and events from Rose Tours and a great staff on Carnival Sensation made this a cruise to remember for a lifetime. Thanks to all involved and I can't wait for the next Celtic Thunder Cruise. Bob Read Less

We chose this cruise as a fun and easy way to go to the Melbourne Cup. It was but the ship itself is awful. When I first stepped onto this ship all I could smell was deep fat frying. Our friends that we were travelling with also mentioned the same thing, unprompted by us. It's not a good start. All I could see when we stepped on was people getting plastered at the "Pub". Also not a good look. Maybe because it was a Melbourne Cup cruise... The good things: lamb cutlets/chops at Nouveau were the best I've ever eaten, the Melbourne Cup transfers to and from Flemington were impeccably organised. It's downhill after that. Food was very average. Edible but nothing special. Drinks were restaurant prices and average tasting. We had a glass of sparkling wine one night that tasted like eucalyptus juice! There was also a bit of substitution going on. Part of our package was a bottle of Veuve Cliquot. It was substituted with a cheaper champagne. Veuve was available as it was on the restaurant wine list. As we had guests to the cabin for drinks we didn't make a fuss - but it was remembered. This cabin has lots of space and storage. Two people can fit in the bathroom at one time and it has...double sinks! The decor is hideous but I understand that a refit is on the cards so let's hope they do something tasteful. It really does look like a Las Vegas Casino from the old days. The common complaint about the stairs is true. However they were rarely used and only in port. I think they were not too much of a problem. I wouldn't travel on this ship again. Read Less

Always wanted to do a Melbourne Cup cruise but won't bother again as the crowds are horrendous. Ended up at the Melbourne casino where I could actually put a bet on, get a drink and even get to a toilet without a drama. As for the ship. The staff try hard but there are just not enough staff working the bars especially when it is busy. I like the gaudiness of the ship while I know others don't, but it is something a little different than the cookie cutter ships they are churning out now that all look the same. The food however was a major let down. The buffet is worse than a RSL club in my opinion with the quality and variety an embarrassment. Aussies like a pie and snag but every day, seriously that is a joke. Most other meat offerings were of the stew, casserole variety. Hardly inspiring. I think I saw a carvery only twice, once was so called prime rib and another there was what looked like pork. The main restaurant had an extremely limited menu, so much so that we only ventured in there once the whole cruise. The Steakhouse was however excellent quality food and service. But at $45 per person extra not something we wanted to do every night. Entertainment was average although the band that played in the Red Frog pub were great Alterband was their name. A great bunch of guys that made the nights we spent there fun. Have not done a Carnival cruise for a number of years but the cutbacks and quality reduction was very noticeable. Sadly they all seem to be headed in the same direction so until people stop cruising as much it will continue the downward spiral. Still had a reasonably good time as we make the most of crappy situations Read Less

Overall the ship was ran well, Carnival has been at this for a long time and have ironed out all of the wrinkles in giving people the most bang for the buck. The ship is not bad ,although the decor was not very impressive, nothing like the Victory was when it was new. The food on the Lido deck and the dining rooms were excellent. The service in the dining rooms were hit and miss, depending on where you were seated. The room steward was great, really on the ball. Comedians were top notch. The bar service and the drinks were very good too. The biggest disappointment was the showtime acts. The were all the same acts as on our last cruise. They were big on being as flamboyant as possible, but without any real quality or story line, they were pretty boring. Carnival needs to develop new material for the shows, plus get better dancers. The Steakhouse was great on past cruises, but not on this one. The food quality as well as the service at the Steakhouse was very bland. The Red Frog Pub and Guys Burger Joints were missing on this ship, We really did miss it too. Carnival needs to add it to the Splendor whenever they do a refit. Carnival also needs to develop more itineraries. The excursions are good, but after a number of cruises you run out of different places to visit. But still a good value for the money. We have made it to Platinum level with Carnival, but are going to try other cruise lines and itineraries for a change of pace. Read Less

Had an amazing time on this ship. The embarkation was very streamline that as soon as you dropped your bags to get to the room was less than 30 minutes much much better from pass sailings. Cruise Director was great and made himself available for many of the events. The chefs table was awesome it was set up directly in the kitchen. The chef had it very streamlined. The entertainment was good however spent more time in the casino and relaxing. The red pub frog was a good hangout spot for live music. The boat is very big I didn't see or patronize the entire boat. The serenity deck was big and was able to get a place to lay majority of the time.I will do this cruise again. I didn't like the control aspect in Montego Bay but for security concerns I understand, I preferred to be with the locals versus the tourist spots that are commercial. Breakfast at the Blush was excellent, dinner was a hit and miss. Read Less
