Probably the worst cruise I’ve been on. Very disappointed with my trip. I’ve been on several cruises with both carnival and royal carribean and royal by far beats carnival when it comes to service. The only positive on our trip was our waiters and our room steward. The food for the dinners weren’t the greatest (step it up carnival), exiting the ship was a nightmare with longer than normal wait times (waited almost 2.5 hours over from original time) and staff were inconsiderate and rude. They lack poor management when it comes to certain procedures and left many upset guests on board since most staff had no idea where to direct guests. Now I’m definitely going to think twice about going on another carnival cruise. I’d rather pay extra for a royal carribean cruise when planning another vacation. If anyone plans to go on this boat, do your research first. Read Less

Let me start off by saying we chose this particular ship because of the skyride, once we got on the ship and everything was paid for we were then notified that this guy ride was down and that we would not be accommodated for it. We spoke to carnival about it and guest relations while on the ship and no one seemed to care. Also beforehand I did call and ask if my husband could bring his very expensive straight razor on board the ship at the time I was told that that would not be a problem a straight razor would be fine so we took it with us. Once we got into customs it was immediately confiscated and we were not allowed to have it. I spoke to carnival about it again at guest relations and there was nothing they were going to do about it, I called once we got home and ask them to go over the phone call, I was then told it would take 72 hours for them to listen to the phone call. They also told me that the guy I spoke to did not notate in his notes anything about the straight razor, so therefore I was wrong. so basically because some guy in a call center didn't get his notes right and do his job right I'm more than likely not going to be reimbursed for the very expensive straight razor I was told would be allowed. The ship was very boring and did not have a lot to do. Everything is very overpriced, and once you're on the ship you're basically at their Mercy. once you have paid in your sailing they don't care to listen to any concerns or accommodate you in any type of way. Upper decks are very loud we were on the 9th floor and could hear people stomping above us at the bar for most of the night. My husband and I paid $150 to have unlimited bubbles for the week when we would ask for a soda it could take anywhere from five to 10 minutes to get it we would have to ask multiple times to get a drink and when ordering a soda in room service we were charged the regular price of $3 a can regardless of us having the bubble pass. The elevators were atrocious very hot and just quickly learn that they could hold down a button and it would skip every four SO waiting for an elevator usually took 10 minutes or longer. Again this stuff didn't care. We were also told when booking that we would have a $25 credit per person on the ship once we got on the ship and left Port we noticed that the money was not on our sail & sign card again we went to guest services and that money was never put back on the card and we were never reimbursed. Carnival may be one of the cheapest Cruise lines at first glance, but it's definitely worth spending a little more to be treated a lot better. Shame on carnival Cruise lines! We will never book here again! Read Less

Was the worst carnival experience we ever had. By day 3 I cried & wanted to come home. First night/morning we had a young intoxicated girl enter our room at 4am!! We called security and nobody could explain how she was able to enter our locked cabin. They had maintenance check key locks and door the next day to say nothing malfunctioned and they would just reprogram door. So I was worried about someone entering our room the entire week. We purchased spa thermal package for $250 for the week and unfortunately should have just saved our money for something else. The spa was always packed with people so really no quiet zen time ever. The showers in there didn't work easily with so many knobs. The dirty towels were almost always overflowing. The sauna with essential oils just smelt like a musty room. There was dried blood leading into 1 of the spa rooms & when I reported it to staff they said ok. On day 3 I discovered my purse was missing and security said cameras were not pointing to the area my bag was. Really? The camera was right there. I guess it wasn't working but they aren't going to say that. Our dinner in the dining room was the only great thing about this cruise. The food was great but our servers had so many tables to tend to they were constantly sweating. They were so nice I could over look that. They cared large trays with so much food and ran back & forth for at least an hour. Then expected to perform a dance!! Wow. These poor guys. We only saw our room stewart 3 times the entire cruise because they were short staff. That is what we were told by other staff. The halls were constantly full of trash & dirty plates that people would place outside their doors. Short staffed meant that these things didn't get picked up for hours- more than 12 hours on 1 day. It was awful!! When I called carnival after the cruise to advise how unhappy I was with everything I was told they would have a manager review my concerns but I would not be contacted by anyone. Wow again. Such poor customer service. Also the skyride which is the main attraction was down the entire cruise! So newer, larger and better attractions just means more rooms to charge people and less amenities and less employees to service more people. I don't know how carnival thinks this is ok. I booked 4 cabins for me, my kids & some of their friends. I guess carnival got their money and that is all that matters. Read Less

This was a long awaited family cruise. We upgraded to a spa balcony cabin and was looking forward to a week of relaxation and time with family. I am a long time cruise traveler. This was the worst experience! The worst week! My thoughts were that I wish I could have departed the ship but of course you are trapped on it until you return to port. Our cabin was a nightmare! Wet floors on the first day. A ship worker coming into the room over and over to tell us their had been a bad leak. They set up two giant blowers in the tiny cabin and we were stuck with the noise and trying to climb over the blowers when we wanted to move about or go in and out. In the bathroom I scalded my hands as the sink only had scalding water. They had to repair that twice during the trip. Every night at around midnight a terrible loud mechanical sound that shook our cabin would wake us up. I spent most of my cruise either on the phone with or at the guest services desk. Every night the same. Call..and be told we had to wait while they sent someone to check out the noise. So we were stuck waiting up each night while the person they sent to 20 to 45 minutes to come to our cabin and the spend time trying to explain the noise as by then it would stop. The noise usually lasted about 10 to 15 minutes. I finally decided to record it and the ships head of house keeping heard my recordings and let guest services know it was loud but kept insisting they had no idea what it could be. At first we thought it might be a one time deal but this happened all week long each night and our peaceful vacation of rest was turned into involuntarily Up All Night. Guest services could have cared less! We were told nothing they could do. It was also disturbing that all 3 showers in the Spa were not working properly. And one of the main steam rooms did not work properly the entire cruise. And though Carnival knew it we didn't find out until Thursday into the cruise that we were right next door to a maintenance room on the side away from the way we leave our cabin. We found out because of added disturbing noise and maintenance workers going in and out of that room and slamming the door over and over. We paid close to 3k for the trip. After I found a member of housekeeping in the hall at midnight and asked if he could come listen to the noise as it was happening and he told guest services on the phone how awful it was they issued me and my cabin mate a $75 credit each. $150 credit against 3k? And after this credit they started working non stop in the room next to us. We were woken to hammering and metal falling constantly on the metal floor. Drilling. Talking. The door slamming as they went in and out constantly. We just wanted to get off of the ship. This long awaited trip had been ruined and outings with family were missed due to lack of sleep. They woke us up hammering on Friday morning around 6am. The noise went on all day long as I was too exhausted to leave the cabin. I was trying hard to get just a little sleep. But the banging was non stop and I called guest services once again and asked if they knew about the non stop noise? They said they did. They told me mechanical issues were being repaired and they did not know how long it would go on. I went to Guest services and asked them why they has forced us to be up each night trying to explain to them the noise when they had known all along the source of the problem and why they hadn't just moved us to another cabin. I was told the cruise was fully booked. I asked for a refund for our trip and was told the best they could do was another $150 totaling $300 against our almost 3k week fee. And that the work would continue in the maintenance cabin. And it did. All day until my I finally went into the hall and asked two of the maintenance workers if they knew how long they would be working? I asked if they had any idea the noise that was in our cabin. It was so terrible. I wish I could load my videos so everyone could really see how little Carnival cared about us as guests. I think my lack of sleep and the fact that I was holding my head from a massive headache was visible to the workers. Though guest services didn't care these guys went in the room and talked to their supervisor and came out and told me they were going to stop for the night. It was just after 8pm. That was on a Friday. The one day the Spa jacuzzi was roped off and out of order for use. It was also the only night of the 7 day cruise that we did not get woken up to the horrible noise that was so bad it shook our cabin. They once again started the banging at 6 am the next morning. I know guest services knew the whole time what the problem was. For them to keep us up each night after being woken up from the noise and making us wait for people to come to the cabin and then doing the non stop maintenance once they gave us the small credit was horrible. I would have given this cruise a zero if that was an option. Getting back home with a letter from onboardi with a multiple list of cabin complaints and calling the main office really did nothing to much to make me feel any better. Customer service on that end was horrible too. And dont depend on Chase credit card company to help you if you want to make the dispute with them. Apparently no matter what your experience and I'm sure Carnival knows this is that if you complete the entire cruise no matter what your issues they consider it a valid charge and will not help you either. So unless you are willing to jump ship in the middle of the ocean or fly back from a different country Chase credit card will do nothing. It's a shame our trip was so disturbing and disappointing. I sincerely hope this experience does not happen to anyone else or that Carnival takes responsibility when it's due to their faulty equipment when someones entire vacation turns out to be a nightmare and the best part about the experience is when you can get OFF the ship! Since we were so occupied with this situation all cruise we really didn't do much else. We went to the casino which seemed a little cramped. Not much room to move around in. The food in the main dining room was very good. Lots of choices. But the wait staff seemed preoccupied this trip and in too much of a hurry. Sometimes it took a long time to get food and extras we asked for such as ice tea or lemon etc. The main attraction and one of the reasons we booked the cruise was the Sky Ride on the Vista. But it was down the entire cruise Out Of Service. The water slide was fun the two times I went down and the pool area seemed nice though we never got in it. Read Less

So many problems with this cruise most related to the cabin. We were accommodating at first even with the carpet being wet and blowers running to dry it out upon arrival....not exactly a great first impression. Had we only known that was only the beginning of the problems with this stateroom. Anyone considering cruising on the Carnival Vista should be aware this ship has multiple problems associated with the spa so if that's one of the "features" that attracted you to this cruise you will be well beyond disappointed. Along with the sky ride being broken the entire trip, the aroma therapy room also being broken the entire trip body sprayers in Cloud nine were also inoperable. The food and entertainment were great but if you value your sleep, rest and relaxation DO NOT book anything remotely close to cabin 11236. I'm currently awaiting to debark tomorrow and that will truly be the highlight of this trip. See cabin review below Read Less

9 out of 10 hand sanitizers are empty. Cabin is HOT! I have 2 fans that I brought on board and wouldn’t have made it without them. The two cabins next to mine received room credits because their rooms were so hot. Food: it is without a doubt the worst food ever. I’m you like bland carbs that taste less me cardboard then this cruise is for you. Only decent food is Guys Burgers. Nightly dining room meals are horrible. Food arrives cold and has no taste. Even the fried Shrimp was bad! Breakfast is no different.cold pancakes, waffles and lets not forget the hair in the hash brown! If you are planning on gambling know that the casino is full of smokers! It’s horrible just having to pass by it. This is not my first cruise. This is a 7 day cruise and when compared to Princess cruise that I was in for the same amount of time, there’s nothing in common other than they are both floating in water. I’ve been told that Princess and Carnival are owned by the same company and it’s very hard to believe. This Carnival cruise has been like a cruise for the poverty stricken compared to the Princess Cruise that was definitely and huge step up. Oh and let me not forget to mention the sewer smell! It’s terrible! Our cabin is on the second floor and the smell has continually been present in the hallway. They were busy trying to clean wet carpet which that I suspect was toilet overflow! My suggestion is save yourself the money and try a different vacation. Read Less

My 5-day cruise experience to costa maya and cozumel was a disaster from beginning to end! The ship arrived late to the galveston port and the embarkation was delayed. It was very hot, humid, and chaotic! Some people fainted while standing and waiting for their boarding times to be called. We did not want to check our luggage but was relieved that we did because when we finally boarded the ship none of the elevators were working! We had to walk flights of stairs from deck 0 to deck 10 after standing for an extended period of time while dehydrated and hungry. We almost missed them lunch, which was cold and nasty. My roommate's luggage didn't arrive for hours because someone snatched her luggage tag off of her suitcase! The so-called activities on the ship were lame so we were bored at sea. Costa maya shouldn't be a destination! The walking distance there was too long, especially in 100 degree weather and when we got there, there nothing to do and you couldn't even look at what they were selling because the sellers bombard you! There was no beach in sight! The only thing i enjoyed during the cruise was the excursion in cozumel that i paid extra for. I just wished we had more time to shop during the excursion. Cozumel was okay...no access to a beach...didn't feel safe taking a cab to a beach since i found out someone was twice (one being a taxi driver). The breakfast was always served cold and the main dining food could have been better and served hot! Both the guy's burger joint and bbq were better than any other food served on the ship because it was served hot and flavorful! Then they snatch $70 from everyone for gratuity! For what?! The ship shouldn't have been operating. It needs to be painted again...lots of rust and not picture worthy! I didn't see anyone take a picture in front of it. It also needs a lot of work internally, including updating the staterooms! The entire time of the cruise the elevators were barely working and if they were working they took forever! I kept seeing maintenance everywhere! I kept smelling painting and paint thinner in/outside of my stateroom which made me feel nauseous! I worried about my safety. Speaking of safety the safety meeting was poorly presented. No one learned anything! They just mumbled and rushed through their demonstration. The disembarkation was another disaster! There was definitely a lack of communication on the staff's part! Everyone was everywhere, the elevators weren't working of course, and we were told to go to deck 3. We sat in a room for 2 hours while the staff disappeared. We left on our own and struggled with our luggage down the stairs with hundreds of people to deck 0. Mind you our stateroom was on deck 1 which didn't make any sense! We could've have left from our stateroom! I'm never cruising with carnival cruises again!!!!! Read Less

My husband and I cruised on this ship on its last cruise out of Galveston in May 2019. I was very dirty and the ship was very unkept! The food was poor and the buffet lines wrapped all the way around the cafeteria. Carnival cruise line desperately needs to overhaul this ship and do some cleaning. Outside of ship was even nasty. Rusted in many places. Duct tape even ran along the staircase railings. Never seen anyone cleaning except our room steward. Public restrooms even smelled bad. Very poor! Cleanest nicest part of ship was our room. Entertainment focused all around remarks toward sex or alcohol. This is definitely not a family oriented shop nor is it for one who is not there to party. Now it is one of the few ships that sails From New Orleans which I hate because the good ones have moved out to make room for them. Sad! Read Less

Jeez... I’m not even sure where to start. Perhaps I should start from the beginning... we arrived in Galveston. Embarking was as painful as could be. The luggage handoff was confusing, the baggage handlers rude, and the process took too long... The cabins were ok. We had 2 of them. My wife and I was in a nice cabin with a balcony. No issues there. Next, we experienced the “all included except...” treatment. I was told that this was because of local vs. international rules, but it just felt silly. Our “all inclusive” drinks did not work until second day of the cruise, internet did not work until day 2, my all inclusive dinner did not include whatever I ordered for dinner, etc. Although some of these problems disappeared as we got far enough away from Galveston, the whole nickel & dime continued throughout the cruise. There are more exceptions to what’s included than what is included. The food was ok, but far from exceptional. The buffet food was horrible but the food in the posh restaurant was better than average. The service in the bars... jeez, I saw faster service while visiting Russia during the Cold War. I timed it. From getting to the bar, until I had a drink in my hand, averaged 15 min. The places were understaffed and the process unbelievably inefficient. Now for the excursions... to say they were underwhelming would be too positive. Most of the time, you’ll be standing in line. The food/drinks served, terrible. Just appalling compared to the price paid. The entertainment was for the most part good, but the daytime spectacle around the pools, just obnoxious. Speaking of pool, the pools are so small they remind me more of bath tubs. Also, good luck finding a deck chair. I talked to a few “veteran cruisers”, and they say Carnival used to be better... this is not an excuse for me... if this is a cruise line in a downward spiral, I’d hate to be among the ones coming after us... We are avid cruisers. Platinum Carnival, Princess, and RCL. This ship by far is the poorest designed ship this cruiser has ever experienced. We sailed on her when she first started in Miami and decided to give her another chance now that she has been in the system a while. First Matt, the cruise director is outstanding! Does what he can with what he has. Embarkation, outstanding, best ever seen. Room steward, probably the worst. Arrived at stateroom, no refrigerator, no life jackets, called pursers desk, purser argued with my wife about refrigerator being there “you just need to look in cabinet”. Reconfirmed life jackets missing, looked under bed for life jackets where they should be located now and confirmed that they were missing. Room steward met us in hallway and said refrigerator is on the way and life jackets are under the bed. I assured him that they were not. He asked if we wanted morning or evening service, I said both. He repeated morning OR evening service. My wife said evening is fine, New change in policy? I confirmed that it was not. Atrium music cancelled first night, no explanation. Atrium floor design bad for dancing, major thoroughfare for bartenders, photographers, and fellow cruisers. Also large support beam in middle of floor. Shows, main theater very poor design. Large beams block view of anyone lucky enough to get a seat. Seats on back row do not provide height to see over seats in front. Dancers were good, singing.... voices did not compliment each other. Comedy show, too small a venue, no seating 3 out of 4 shows arriving 20 minutes prior. Dancing, two floors suitable for dancing, Havana Bar and Ocean Plaza. Limelight lounge a impromptu floor, small and inadequate. Havana bar, small, good for Salsa, Rumba, and cha cha if no one else is dancing, band good. Ocean plaza, farmer band played polka after polka, only one beat. Voices did not compliment each other. Other band was good sometimes accompanied by three piece horns. Wednesday night singers didn’t show due to illness. Thursday night singers didn’t show for country but did show up later for Motown. No scale in fitness center. Was told that it’s use was only available during spa treatments. Food was adequate during cruise but had dropped in quality since last on vista. Carnival Magic and Dream are much better ships! Taking a cruise to the Panama Canal was on our bucket list however this ship is a rust bucket that has not been updated since it's inaugural voyage and it shows ! The entertainment is done by the same six people for every night, and is horrible. Every show ended with fewer show goers than it started with. Since Carnival has added the "tips" to your bill -- the service has significantly diminished -- no incentive for top notch service. Like no table clothes on the dining tables, meals delivered at different times for people at the same table, service taking over two hours to complete, cabin service was minimal, etc.. Don't bother purchasing the WIFI -- it's spotty to non-existent. Departure took three hours (Disney takes about 30 min.). We have been on 12 cruises and this was the worst. Take a few minutes and look for a cruise that still provides an excellent cruise experience. I'm not sure if this cruise was representative of the overall Carnival cruise experience, or just this ship however this cruise ship is not worth the money or representative of what a good cruise experience can be Read Less

I chose Vista because it left out of Galveston and I live in Austin. I thought the Vista would be really nice since it is just a 2 year old ship. I am a Gold Carnival Cruise Member. I am a Premiere Casino member. This was a Premiere cruise. Since I mostly play video poker when I am on board, the casino is the most important thing for me. The casino is smaller than other cruise ships I have been on. The air flow was non existent, the ceilings were low and the smoke was as thick as a knife. The bar was in the middle and took up a huge amount of space. There is no live music area or sitting area in the casino. There were 400 premiere members on board for the raffle prizes. This was the largest number of premiere members I have ever seen on a cruise. The chances of winning a raffle prize was very small. Prizes should be scaled according to the number of premiere members. When we arrived our beds were not configured in the correct way. We wanted twin beds. We had a queen bed. In the middle of the night, a large picture fell off the wall and hit me. The stewart came in the next morning and took a picture of the fallen picture. He said he would send it to maintenance to get the picture rehung. I said I didn't want it hung. I came back a bit later and the picture was hung over my bed. Dining service was bad. We were asked if we would sit on a group table. We said OK. When they tried to seat us on a round table there were already 2 parties on the table. They tried to seat my sister and I on opposite sides of the table. We complained and were reseated on a table for 2. We were never offered a refill on our coffee at most of the breakfast and dinners we went to. I think they were very understaffed. When we were trying to leave, we found out we were locked out of our safe. I don't know if they have a reset button that automatically changes everyone's combination or if something weird just happened to our safe. Bottom line, I have a cruise scheduled for Alaska in May for the whole family on the Carnival Legend. I almost cancelled it. Read Less

This was our second cruise. Previous was on Carnival Valor. It "WAS" an annual anniversary trip. NOT ANYMORE!!! Here are some of the "highlights" - I told Carnival I would not stop telling everyone till they compensated me for a replacement cruise or at least half price. We got a $100 on board credit for our next cruise. I got food poisoning on the first night after my grilled chicken was served very undercooked. I noticed it was rubbery but didn't think alot about it but the taste was worse with every bite. 2 days I spent in my cabin vomiting. So much for the endless drinks package we bought. Cigarette ash and butts were being dropped on us while on our deck. 2 decks above, we saw them. We tried reporting it many times and showed them the butts on our deck. NOTHING done. Serenity bar was closed the entire cruise. The hot tubs back there were barely bath warm and when many of us (8) at that time tried to ask then to turn it up the guy spoke no english and couldn't understand. Then finally said something about maintenance and nobody ever came. Room service - 3 attempts - Received our food once after we stood in the doorway and waited the whole time. Since they don't actually knock. The pieces a rusty overhead metal falling on a group of us while sitting in the serenity area didn't please us either. And the deck we paid extra for was a joke. Glass could never be seen through as had a disgusting yellow film all over it so if we wanted to look out we had to stand the whole time. Many more events but by this time they may seem petty as we were already very pissed. Oh, btw the King bed isn't a king. Its 2 twins put together making it a Queen. Talk about false advertising. I was asked to add more about our onboard experience. I honestly don't know what else to say. There was so much negative on this cruise that any positive was hard to notice. We did get to watch Mama Mia 2. That was a highlight. Sat on deck and watched on big screen above pool. Was very very windy that night but loved our relaxing movie outdoors. Read Less

We went on this cruise to take enjoy some couple time but also have our kids close to us. I was lied to about camp ocean who did NOt want to take care of my kids. The girls that take care of ur kids are rude, don’t want to change diapers, and do not want ur kids there. And policy says they group kids according to age group but they only go by policy when it’s convenient for them cuz my toddlers were with the older kids. They don’t feed ur kids. Or give them drinks. Their hours are also inconvenient to be able to enjoy being on the cruise. My 2 year old was also mistreated who I complained to the director, his words were “they are mistreating my kids because I’m not getting along w their staff.” The food was horrible, worse than prison food. My room had 2 rows of eyelashes stuck to the desk so that tells me my room was not even cleaned. They nickel and dime u to death. And they don’t care about returning happy customers, only want to make a quick buck off of you. I will never in my life take a cruise w them again! This past week was the worst vacation I have ever had. I would have rather been working. I have been on previous carnival cruises however I will no longer be using them. Our 7 day trip to the Caribbean changed into a nightmare where I was counting down the days until I could go home. 1.) The Cruise Director Emma- she was extremely rude to the guests and knew her remarks sounded bad and blamed it on her being “British” like that excused her behavior. 2.) Our room was extremely hot and we were next to the electrical room. We contacted the desk about it and they sent a maintenance tech to our room and they explained that they found a legally acceptable range between 74-77 degrees, that sounds great for sleeping in a room with no windows or ventilation. Even though there is a thermostat for us to change the setting? Also because we were next to the electrical room, we heard banging and tools dropping at all hours of the night (11pm, 3am, 6 am) so much for being on vacation 3.) The service- our schedule got changed due to hurricane Michael. It’s understandable, but on the second day they completely removed Roatan (the whole reason for our trip) and when told about reimbursement we received the port fees back..... $15.81. WOW that helps when we spent serval thousand dollars to go. Also the staff spoke to us like children and we felt like sheep being hurded around. Lastly while dining in the main dining room my husband noticed black marks on my arm. After inspecting where it had come from we noticed the tables had been recently painted. My concerns seemed to be downplayed as the waitstaff assured me it could easily be removed. I then showed them that even scrubbing with an alcohol based cleaner and a rag would not remove it they again disregarded me and the issue seemed to be ignored as they continued with work. They did not offer assistance they did not get me anything to remove it with and so you are aware this wasn’t water soluble paint it was latex or oil based paint which took a lot of hand sanitizer and elbow grease to remove. Later in the evening when discussing it with my husband multiple other guest over heard our conversation and said the same thing happened to them and even ruined there clothes. 4.) EVERYTHING was unorganized, the best example was disembarkment day. We were supposed to leave at 8am which turned into 11am and while standing in a huge line to get out (like cows) all the lights in the ship went out (including the elevators that people were on). Standing in a crowded room, in the dark with a bunch of strangers does not feel comforting or safe. These are the largest concerns that happened on my trip, however some smaller ones include: taking two hours to get dinner (we decided to order everything at the beginning of the meal to ensure we received it in time), the staff seemed bothered/not a lot of smiles, which made me feel bad to ask for anything. The entire trip felt like carnival was trying to get every last penny out of you, exploiting every last avenue for money to the point that we didn’t want to interact with anyone or go to any event to avoid getting badgered for more money. In conclusion we were extremely disappointed. As stated before this was not my first trip with carnival but it will most certainly be my last. Being in the service industry most of my concerns could have avoided or at least managed with a little reassurance and assistance. However I will be giving my money to another line that might actually appreciate that I am choosing to give my hard earned money to them. Read Less

The ship is said to be the biggest in carnival fleet. And that’s true however they cramped the inside made room for more guest, and less crew! We could not get service on the lido deck at all ship was dirty and highly worn out for only being two years old. We have cruised with carnival only. That being said the cruise director was entertaining but did not interact with the guest except what he had to do. The ship was super hyped up about and was complete let down. Brought all this and some other issues to carnivals attention and have not received any response to it. Bathroom smelled like old urine all the time like a public restroom at a ballpark but worse. Shower didn’t drain would run over ever time. Room steward was amazing and the two dining waiter and waitress were the highlight of the entire cruise. Casino was horrible too no ventilation or windows / shades up felt like we were in a enclosed room and stuffy. 2 star overall trying a different line next time for sure which saddens me we loved carnival and they do not want to address any of these issues so no other choice Read Less

My father in law paid for my husband and I to go on a cruise since we have not had a vacation in about 4 years, since our honeymoon. We left our 3 kids at home and we were ready to party and have a good time! We got on the ship early, as in the time it told us to board the ship since we had the faster to the fun card. When we were checking in they told us that our room would not be ready for about another hour or so to just hang out and have some drinks. We finished boarding the boat and the lady that greeted us told us exactly where to go and was very helpful. She told us that our room was ready and to go ahead and go up. We got the the 6th floor and all of the doors were shut to the rooms. We had to call customer service to open the doors to where the rooms were. We went exploring and ended up at the pool. We had the drink pass cards so we knew that they wouldn't be in effect until the next day. We DIDN'T put a card on file for our room instead we put cash and were told that once you run out of money that your room card will decline and you can add more money to it. NOT TRUE!!! Our card did decline and we never put any more money on it because we had the drink passes and we were just gambling with our cash. At the end of the cruise we had a statement sent to our room saying that we owed $56.03. Not a big deal but I was very upset because we were told that our card would decline and we would just have to reload our card when that happens. We were never told that it can go negative. Once I paid the $56.03 and went on my way I noticed that 2 days later that they charged me $46.03 and then they charged me the day before $56.03. I called the company and what happens is that they put a hold on the account to make sure the funds are there. In this case they did the hold the day after they charged me the full amount. It doesn't make any sense how they operate. Now lets talk about the service....yes it was a full ship but they knew that before hand. We had to wait 30+ min every time we wanted a drink. When we gambled in the casino you are suppose to get free drinks while you gamble and you are never asked if you would like something to drink. You have to complain to the pit boss to even get any service. When you go to the casino bar it takes forever to get a drink. They continuously tell you to hang on. One night I stood at the bar to get my father in law a can of Coke and a glass of ice. I was there for at least 20min then they called last call, then when I finally asked if they were ever going to help me they told me that I should have come before last call. I was there way before that. Then when I told them that I just needed a can of Coke and a glass of ice they told me no that I should have ordered before last call. I can honestly say that I will never cruise with Carnival again. My first time on a cruise was awful. So not what I expected. Read Less

Arrived in Galveston the day before and glad we did due to road construction, two separate wrecks, and stormy weather. The next morning we Allowed 2 hours for the drive from Webster to Cruise Terminal in Galveston and were still over an hour late for our a Check In time so we were sent to the holding area for Early/Late Check In. My husband dropped off me and our luggage at the Terminal, drove to parking lot and rode their shuttle back to the Ship. Wait time was minimal with the biggest delay coming from standing in line with others carrying (sneaking) on wine etc and the staff repeatedly explaining what could/could not bring on board. Our Cabin was not clean on arrival (same trash/dirty was on floor in bathroom and by bed all week) . There were blood stains on shower curtain and window curtain in front of the door leading to balcony - GROSS. Sofa was stained and smelled bad. Bed pillows smelled terrible as did the duvet cover! We were in a Spa Balcony and were surprised the Robes smelled dirty too! The toilets would occasionally stop flushing and during the entire cruise (7 DAYS) the Ship smelled like a SEWER! Cabins, Hallways, Bathrooms, Dining Rooms, Lido, Spa, elevators, EVERYWHERE! Even after large Tips, our Steward did not understand special requests (ice in the ice bucket) and often left dirty dishes in cabin all day. Also had issues getting toilet paper restocked! I’ve cruised many times and although I try to keep my expectations low, from Day 1 the food was not what we usually experience on Carnival. Guys Burger had no flavor, the fries were undercooked, and they ran out of burgers several different days. We ate at The Steakhouse the first and last nights (our Anniversary) and found the food to be just okay: baked potatoes were undercooked, meat was overcooked, and staff was rude. The food at Italian Restaurant was bland and overcooked all week. I mainly ate Salads and unripe fruit at the Buffet for lunch and dinner. Breakfast was just okay. Food in the Dining Room was the worst we ever had on a cruise and worse than a freezer-burnt frozen TV dinner. Entertainment was so-so as usual. Casino was full of smoke and hot air so we avoided it. Musical Entertainment was enjoyable. Overall Service was mediocre. I had two separate bouts of Diarrhea so I missed 2 Shore Excursions but my Husband enjoyed them until people were getting stung by jellyfish! Debarking was a nightmare as usual when you aren’t in a Suite and don’t have Priority. Had to leave our Cabin at 8:30. Passengers had already filled the Elevators, (and stairwells) rode up and down, and refused to get off until their Deck/Zone were called. Sat in designated waiting zone til 10:45 when we were called to line up to Debark. Finally off Ship by 12 Noon. Lines moved smoothly through Customs and again found ourselves outside, in the rain, waiting for our Parking Lot Shuttle to return. FYI Parking Lot Staffers are more interested in getting new passengers to the Ship than getting you to your parked Car in their lot for some reason. We cruise out of Galveston because it is convenient and the cost is less than other Cruise Lines so This was our second cruise this year to new ports. Maybe the Breeze needs refreshing and hopefully it will get it before it goes back into Service after leaving Galveston. We sail on the Vista next May and hope our experience is better. Read Less

Very bad experience. Room was 80 degrees the whole time, we paid for WiFi that never worked, toilet randomly overflowed 3 times, bad excursion information from staff (was not accurate), and seemed very unorganized. Was not happy with boarding or all the lines. We way overpaid for the experience we received. Would not recommend carnival cruise line to anyone. The staff was fine, however when voicing concerns it took a long time to get service for the toilet. Also WiFi was never fixed I waited in like for 20 minuets 3 times and they never fixed this. I was told to give it an hour each time they went through my settings and reset. And it never corrected but was still charged. We brought eight people to cruise as well all the same floor all of our rooms were to hot to sleep this was voiced and also never fixed. Will not be back. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it had activities for children, and all the families could attend without flying. We wanted to celebrate our 50th anniversary with our children and their children. We have been on over 15 cruises, mainly Princess and Royal Caribbean. This was our first and last Carnival as there is no comparison. We ate one breakfast in the buffet the first day as well as lunch the day of departure. We classified it as casino buffet in Louisiana. From that point on, we ate in the formal dining rooms. Our early seating in the Washington dining. They started us in the Lincoln upper dining, without windows. We requested the lower floor which has windows. Be sure to ask where you are assigned to eat if you select traditional dining. The upper dinning has windows, but they look out to the life boats, so Carnival chose to block even light from these windows. Also, the upper Lincoln is the people path to the back of the ship on forth floor, which is bypassed by using the 5th floor. Formal dining on the Carnival Valor is without table cloths and only a knife and fork. Table cloths were provided on formal night only. Even Denny's provides a spoon in the place setting. When more bread was needed, the new tray was placed into the old without removing the napkin. (Guess waitstaff never trained to remove empty) Also one small butter pat for four people. Kept requesting more, but you would think Carnival would recognize the size was insufficient. Of course the old was container was not removed when the new arrived. The food quality was poor. Normally delivered luke warm. Entertainment was soso after dinner and infrequent. The comedians in the Eagle Club were good. Dancers and singing without a band, only prerecorded, most of the time. Last show was good with a band. Rooms were OK, showing wear in the carpet and furniture. Outside around pool, trash all day. Tables not cleaned off, and drink service was very limited. You had to go the the stations and order if you really wanted anything. I guess we are spoiled with Royal Caribbean which is their closed competition. We have done Princess around 7 times which is owned by Carnival. No comparison. We are now trying Viking Ocean cruises, and more expensive, but limited to 930 people and most everything included but tips, even wine and beer at lunch and dinner, and shore excursions. Not for children though and Princess is an older group as well. Read Less

We were with a group of 14. When 4 of us got there, we were seated so far away from our group that we couldn't even see them! I guess the lady that did the reservation was told that 4 of us would be seated apart from the 10, but closer than what we experienced. Did I contact the Matre'd? No, we didn't, figured it was too late. Secondly, I am on vacation, why do I need to deal with that kind of inadequacy? Good news! We all lost weight as the food was so bad. The desserts were particularly tasteless! And what is that spice they are now pouring on Guy''s french fries. Make it stop! On our last night, they made public announcements at 4:36 a.m. No idea why, but they did it 3 times! Someone needed to go to the pursers desk for some reason. The last night we planned to go the casino and play our favorite game as a family, Let it Ride". So we all show up about 7:30 p.m. $100 each for 4 people to ante. The pit boss tells us that he has no dealer..so no game for us. What casino does that? Oh well, we took our $400 and went back to the room. Spectacular last night..NOT! The only goodness I can relate was our cabin Steward, Mario. He was sweet and cheerful, meticulous! This Platinum customer will never sail again on the Freedumb . Read Less

DO NOT take your kids to CAMP CARNIVAL because they acted like they didn’t even want my child to be there. They told me to keep a phone on me that they gave me. They didn’t ask, they told. Not great on board entertainment at all. They nickled and dimed you to death. I have taken many cruises and this was the worst. I’m not a complainer, but please don’t waste your money. The dr.seuss theme is very misleading also. Anything to do with dr.seuss you had to pay extra. They are not very accommodating for kids. The last night of the cruise the camp was closed from 3 till 7. Our entire cruise revolved around camp carnival. Read Less

We all know Carnival is the Kmart of cruising, but they have hit new lows. They will now "blue light special" you over the loud speaker at anytime day or night. 10pm 4:52am. If they need you to do something or be somewhere or if they even suspect you may be asleep or spending downtime in your cabin they will be yelling over the loudspeaker for you to get out and keep spending money. The ship is old. There are lines for everything everywhere. If they could adequately handle demand with two of something plan on there being one. If you plan to drink yourself into a stupper from morning g to night you will be in good company. Plan to smell plenty of vomit. The employees are nice and will share many stories from the back home. This is the one upside. Over all though I would sum it up with this one statement - Sail the Freedom and spend a week in Hell. Read Less

I was so incredibly disappointed with this cruise. This was our 5th cruise overall and 2nd with Carnival. We enjoyed our previous cruise with Carnival, but this one was a let down in almost every way. I asked several of the passengers that were Gold members if it was just this ship, or if Carnival has gone downhill. They said it was a bit of both. My first tip would be to choose ANY other cruise. Embarkation: It was quick and easy! The Port of Galveston was very easy to deal with. The WiFi: The one thing that all the Gold members complained about was the WiFi. They all told me that they were going to go get a refund on their WiFi packages because it was unusable. I purchased the Social Package. I was happy with the price. It was slow. But since I was mainly using it for messaging, it was ok for me. Uploading a picture could take a long time though. The Ship: Overall the ship was ok. The elevators were incredibly slow, usually packed with people and often with people's left over food or drinks. Even though we were low on the ship, we took the stairs most of the time. For the most part the ship was easy to move around in. But there are places where you have to walk through a dining room or other venue to go forward or aft. This was really annoying when we were trying to listen to the musicians and people were constantly walking through the room around them. The Pool Decks: We had several bad experiences on the pool decks. 1) On our port day, we stayed on board and decided to relax on the Serenity Deck. I immediately stepped on a thumb tack outside the crew door next to the hammock. I walked down to the infirmary where they supplied first aid materials and a tetanus shot free of charge. Unfortunately, I was also told to stay out of the water for the rest of the day. There was very little to do on the ship so this was a wasted day. 2) For some reason the staff came by in the late afternoon and made us get up off our loungers so they could stack them. They seemed to do this every night around dinner time. While I have seen them stack the chairs on other cruises, I've never had a staff member make me get up. 3) The stairs down from the track get very slippery when wet. My husband walked over to the stairs to leave and fell down the stairs. His hand was cut and his thumb badly sprained. They need to improve the safety of the outside stairs. If my husband had been older, this fall could have been catastrophic. Dining: The food was inconsistent. We ate in the dining room every night. There were some issues with cooking consistency (I had a flat iron steak that was well done on one end and rare on the other. I also had fish that was way over cooked.) My service staff was excellent. They were the best part of this trip. After my second meal, I started ordering what my server recommended. That worked out much better for me. One other strange thing was the way they packed the Washington Dining Room. We were literally sitting in the middle of the walkway. Waiters walked by us with full trays all evening long. It was distracting. But I didn't want to leave my wait staff, so we didn't asked to be moved. But this is just one more example of the fact that they are not thinking about their customers. The food on the Lido deck was plentiful and varied. The wait time was long for some things (stir-fry) but most of it was fast. We did enjoy our lunch from Guy's Burgers. One last thing that surprised me.. This is the first cruise I have been on where lobster and steak weren't staples of the formal night. They did have them for an upcharge. Entertainment and Activities: We did enjoy playing Bingo. But there was actually very little going on until very late at night. We did enjoy the musicians when we were able to go. Note: if you love a DJ playing pool/drinking games, that went on at the main pool during the daytime. Service: The staff on this ship were the highlight. They were all very friendly and happy to help! Ports/Excursions: We planned on taking a SCUBA diving excursion in Cozumel. Unfortunately, due to the weather, our ship was diverted to Progresso. We have been there on a previous cruise and chose not to go again as there is little there that is interesting. Debarkation: This was also easy. The only complaint I have is that the cruise director spent all morning on the loud speakers lecturing people to do as they were told. I understand that a lot of people were ignoring him. But as someone that was doing what they were told, it was really annoying to listen to all morning. Overall this trip was a huge waste of time and money. I realize that they had no control over the weather, so I don't hold that against them. However, they have control over what they provide. It felt like they were doing the very minimum to get by when it comes to quality of materials and services. I would only recommend this cruise to people who are coming solely to party with their friends and have an up to date tetanus shot. Read Less

My experience aboard Carnival Cruise Valor is one the I will never forget. It was the absolute, most in-describable, Worst trip of my life time. From the time I Embarked on the cruise ship until the time I disembarked, I experienced the worst service ever. I may have gotten greeted by someone on the ship less than five times. I began counting after we had gone an entire day with only 1 person greeting us with a welcome. We never got a warm welcome, it almost seemed forced when a cruise member spoke. Whenever they spoke it was Not with much enthusiasm. No one on the cruise had High Energy. Everyone seemed angry, and annoyed. I avoided asking for help from fear of someone responding with an unfriendly and unhelpful tone. Most of the crew members body language read “I am unapproachable!” I booked a balcony cabin, cabin 8397 cruise date May 10 – 14, 2018, and my horrible experience begin the same day. The person who was assigned to keep our cabin tidy, did not display a friendly and helpful attitude. In fact, when I asked a question she looked annoyed as if I was intruding on her time. I felt like she half cleaned the room, so I asked her not to clean and that we would just do it ourselves. I was surprised when the Supervisor came to our room to inquire about our satisfaction. The supervisor was the 1st person who had greeted us after being on the ship an entire day. The Supervisor apologized and assigned someone else to tidy our room. I was pleased with the replacement person. He was nice, and the room was cleaned well each time we left and stayed away for a while. The next Horrible experienced happened during dinner time. I will admit, we were 20mins late for dinner and when we arrived the person overseeing the dining area, Rolondo seem upset that we were late so without looking at us he snapped for someone to walk us to our table. When we arrived, I assumed we were at the wrong table because it was a table that could accommodate six people, but 4 people were already seated and looked at us like why we are crashing their table. It was three of us, so I thought well maybe this is the wrong table. It was not explained to me that random people would be sharing a table. I would have never agreed to sharing a table. I asked for another table and when I did that, we got a lot of angry glares, the host, Kaitlynn seemed agitated that I had asked for another table. Kaitlynn and Rolonda talked among themselves and not to us, before I knew it we were directed to wait outside in the foyer until they could find a table. Finally, after 15 minutes, someone motioned for us to come back in and we were seated a private table. I wanted to leave but I knew had we not eaten dinner, we would have to wait for the next morning to eat because most of the food stations begin to close at 9pm. There was not a lot of food options after 8pm and I did not like that. I hoped that we would have access to some type of food, other than a few selections of sliced pizza, after 10pm. The next horrible experienced came when the ship docked at Cozumel port. I think we may have arrived late because we were advised to remain in our cabins until they made an announcement that were available to let us off the ship. Well around 8:30am they made an announcement that all who had excursion that we could leave the cabin so that we can make it to our meet up points. Our meet up time was 9:15am. I was afraid we would miss our connect because everyone left their cabin at the same time and we all ran into each other just to find out they were not ready to allow us to leave the ship. The lines were very long in the hallways. It took another 15 minuets before the let us off, so at this point I thought we would not make our connect for our excursion. I am sad to report, my horrible experienced continued through the entire time of cruise. It continued all the way until it was time to disembark ship at Galveston, TX port. We decided to take our own luggage using the express departure thinking it would save time. It saddens me to say it took over 3 hours to disbar ship. I felt like everything and every crew member were unorganized the entire ship. This was my 1st experience of Carnival and it may by my last experienced because I left the cruse with not one Good memorable thing to take back about my Carnival Cruise experience. Read Less
