This was my fourth cruise and my first time on Carnival. I previously have cruised Royal Caribbean and Norwegian but always heard horror stories about Carnival so I avoided it. A friend convinced me to go on one, and it was definitely a good time.
Ship: The ship itself is nice enough. I know it recently underwent a dry dock, but could probably use some renovations. Parts of it just felt old and ...
Compared to reviews from the 2-3 weeks preceding our cruise, our weather was superb. It was chilly the day of boarding in Galveston and the first half of our first day at sea but after that temps were in the 80's until we disembarked again in Galveston. This was January so was not surprised by the temps in Galveston.
Three couples went on the cruise not so much for the ambience and ports but ...
My husband and I went with another couple to celebrate his birthday. We are not new to cruising and I recently cruised with my sister on another Carnival ship. The quality of food on the Valor was poor. The menu was boring and repetitive. The best meal I had was a burger at Guy's Burger Joint by the pool. All of the daily trivia and games were held at The Dream Bar which is in a major walkway ...
Introduced a friend to joys of cruising & she loved her first time.Balcony was great to drink in the ocean air & relax while watching waves. Roomie was a smoker & she really appreciated the large smoking areas provided. Disappointed to find there is now a charge for lobster on less than 7 day cruises. Our waiter,Lawrence,in Main Dining Room, was fabulous. Disappointed there is now a charge for ...
It has been over ten years since I last cruised on Carnival but was excited to go again. This was the first trip without children in sixteen years for my husband and I. We decided to go on this trip since we had friends going as well. Our check in time was 12:30p and the lines were long due to computer issues. Once we finally got onboard and went to check out our ocean view cabin, I was surprised ...
We choose this cruise because it was a slightly bigger ship than what we've cruised on before with Carnival. I must say that we were disappointed that the shops onboard didn't offer a lot to shop for. It seemed to us that the smaller ships had more to choose from than this one. It did have more dining options and foods to choose from. It also had more pools than the smaller ones. I would say that ...
My first time cruising on Carnival. Previously cruised 3 times on Norwegian and 1 time on Royal Caribbean.
Our family met in the LIncoln Dining room every evening for early dining. Our waiter was excellent and very attentive. However, the food he was given to deliver to us was never hot, not even warm in many cases. The only really hot dish I ever had was the baked onion soup. Now, this is ...
Ship was very crowded with people!! had to wait in lines for drinks, food, everything!! The staff was not friendly at all!! Only one person was helpful on the ship and that was our house keeping porter.. Food was horrible! We purchased the cheers drink package to save ( we thought) and drinks barely had any alcohol. All crew members act like robots not happy not sad. just blah!! Felt like refugees ...
We cruise from Galveston every couple of years because it is easy. Carnival has a good price and we don't care what the itinerary is having been to the places enough times to often not do anything in port. The ship was a nice size, not too big or too small. Embarkation was smooth except that even if you check in early you don't get on the ship before about 12:45 or 1. We checked in at our ...
First embarkment and disembarkation was great! Port Canaveral is a great spot. The cruise was on Carnival. If you expect lectures and a large library on board, boy did someone sell you the goods.
The ship is fine. Its clean and functional. Our cabin was clean and kept clean. But no turn down service was there - just the towel animals.
The food ranged from fantastic to meh. Highlight was ...
