As a first time cruiser, I had an amazing time. Embarkation was smooth and easy. Registering online helped a lot. There was a lot of traffic in the Port of Miami, but not many signs giving you directions, so plan to loop in a few circles. The food was great. The buffet breakfast and lunch was great. There was also the opportunity to make your own burrito. The last dinner night, the options were not too different and some of our food was overcooked. The apple pie was not good. Tasted like old apples and parts of it was not even warm. There was only one pool on the boat, very disappointing. The pool was the size of a small bedroom literally comfortable for about 12 people to be in. Because the pools were always overcrowded I took advantage of the mini water slides. Although it was mostly children that went down, it was still fun( and I am 25 yrs old). Overall: For a first time cruiser or one that is not too difficult to please this was a great experience Read Less

1) Lido deck (where all the things are) is a smoking environment and I thought my wife and I were going to choke from all the 2nd hand smoke. Even the restaurants wreaked of smoke. Will only cruise non-smoking ships/lines next time - if there are such things. 2) Food. Pretty bad stuff. Makes you wonder if they eat their own food. Fried chicken burnt and dry, rolls very stale and even rock hard, potatoes hard, meats dry, eggs runny, bacon way too greasy, hash browns greasy and hard,,food tasteless or bad tastes, etc. 3) Signage bad. Never sure where I am at. Some elevators go to certain decks and some do not. Never know which deck you are on. Signs inside elevators useless. 4( Entertainment: Amatuerish. Same group every nite and predictable. Couple comedians good. 5) Shore excursions. I know they want to sell their own highly-priced excursions, but wish they would be more passenger-friendly and inform people of what to expect on shore, i.e., all the taxis and mad salesmen and actually provide info on local beaches and how to get there on their own, etc. As is passenger is left to fend for himself once he arrives on shore. Overwhelming for sure. A little more help would be nice. Don't even think I was provided a map of the town. Seems like their excursion or fend for yourself among all of the wolves. Never Carnival again. . . Read Less

First, let me just say how much I love this ship! This was my second cruise adventure aboard the fantasy and I just booked another fir December the 17! Day one: embarkation day us never fun. Carnival states you can start larking at 12:30 and that's not true. Signs at the port say 11am. However, this time the ship was in Kate and we were told to come back after dropping luggage off at 12:00. My fb group member posted they were allowed to lark in line ten mins after I pulled out. Go figure! I drove back around and proceeded to wait in line for an hour and a half before finally arriving at the terminal. Jumped out the car, ran to the little bus, made my way to checkin which was painless and quick about 20 minutes before I was boarding the boat. If you park at terminal it's like 11.00 per day. Park and ride service is around 7.00 theta an offsite facility. If your handicap parking is free. After boarding the ship I made my way straight to the lido deck got a frosty drink and had some scrumptious food. After that the sail away party on deck started. I then went to the room turned on tv of lido deck party lol and unpacked and got dressed for the evening and unpacked. I have to say the century 21 bar is where you make friends, drink, and dance like you don't care! Loved it Day 2: Wake up, go for breakfast on the lido deck for an omelet and off to the pool. Lounged out there then dressed fir dinner and pictures. Great day! We ate in the mason dining room every night because we love yo watch the waiters nightly dance performance between 7 and 8pm! Each night I was by the bar century 21 as it's right beside casino lol. I spent my 1000 points and received my free drink card. I'd play get a drink and mosey out yo the nightclub, karaoke, or bar. I'd go back to casino, not playing, get a drink and wander again! The waiters are the best ever and oh so friendly! They make the best frozen drinks around and you can get drinks nit listed on the menu like a mudslide. My favorite is kiss on the lions it tastes like an edys peach frozen fruit bar love it! Day 3: Rinse and repeat. Lol comedy shows after 9pm are adult only that's what I preferred and they were amazing. I don't remember what day was elegant evening but I loved the lobster tails. That's always fun. You can have as many as you want! One man had ten plates hahaha! I only had two but wished I could handle more. Grand Turk was amazing went straight out to margaritaville which is straight off port and went to bar and the free wifi which works way better upstairs. There is also a flow rider simulator surf board area beside the pool you can try out lol Day 4: half moon cay the private island owned by carnival was absolutely breathtaking! Wrecked ship that us the bar, the feed you hamburgers and jerk chicken, cookies, and fresh fruit. Carnival waiters are running up and down the beach! Day 5: sea day rinse and repeat elegant evening and don't forget the cabins have shampoo and body wash dispensers but only suites have hair dryers! I was lucky enough to have steward who found me one lol Day 6: has bro game is very fun and gives out nice prizes for the children. Nassau, I met a friend from ship I made a crew member that I've known for a few years and spent the day shopping on Bay Street, swimming at cable beach by the Melia hotel took a jitney bus for 1.25. Caught the bus back and ate duck at a local Chinese restaurant that offered free wifi! Getting off the ship takes forever! Only negative. The staff are super nice, friendly, and is always feel like a special guest. Love this ship! Read Less

Fantasy is the oldest ship in the Carnival fleet--almost 25 years old. It is a small ship, and it is a matter of preference if you like this. Most of my cruise was fine until Thursday. Two days before the end of the cruise sewage started backing up in my shower drain. After I heard the noise and checked it out I called guest services. They called the plumber, who was there within 1/2 hour. By that time the sewage had filled up the whole bathroom floor "pan. " As the ship rocked the sewage started pouring over the threshold onto the carpet. I was put out of my room for a couple hours while the plumber worked on it and the staff cleaned up. While the plumber was working I went to guest services and asked to change cabins which I thought was reasonable given what I saw. The staff person gave no apology or even empathy, and dismissed me saying there were no cabins available. I doubt that cruise was sold out, and even if it was some people had gotten off at one of the ports. I don't expect kid glove treatment, but I hoped to get my problem addressed with a little respect. The way she made me feel left me depressed for the rest of the cruise. After the cleanup I had one of those big blowers/ dryers in my room for two days. Other staff were great-- cabin steward Su and waiter Roger(?). The slide didn't seem to be open much. It's also awkward to get to Serenity -- either out the cafeteria and down some steps or exit out the back door of the comedy theater. The water on the ship was the worst tasting water I've ever experienced. Read Less

I took my cruise last Oct. and am just now writing a review about it (sad, I know), but I just wanted to say how much I thoroughly enjoyed cruising with Carnival! I have always been a skeptic about cruises preferring to stick with land travel. I have traveled abroad several times, and I love it. However, it is quite exhausting. The last major trip I took was to Italy, and we traveled all over! It was wonderful, but so tiring. I decided I wanted a relaxing vacation for a change. I figured I was just break down and try the cruise thing that I have always heard so much hype about. I did a search for the cheapest rates and times I needed, and Carnival had one that fit perfectly! It was on the Fantasy going to Cozumel. The planning was such a breeze compared to other trips I have been on. I simply booked the trip online, and then one of their friendly booking agents called me to give me all the details. She was wonderful! She helped me every step of the way! I went on the cruise with one of my good friends who was also a cruise virgin, and we had such a blast!!! The staff was so friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice and clean (though a bit small). There was always something to do! They had games going on at all times. We worked out in the spacious workout room and then visited the steam room and sauna. Then we relaxed on the top deck and soaked up the sun with the beautiful ocean vistas. At night we attended the broadway-esque shows, which were phenomenal, and we hit the dance floor with the other young people to finish off the night. I don't think I've ever had so much fun! The only thing that fell a little short of the expectations was the food. While there were endless choices, the quality wasn't the best, but it was a minor detail that didn't get in the way of an awesome time! I think everyone should take a cruise and choose Carnival! There were 20+ in our group, from the ages of 4-60. There was something for everyone. Camp Carnival was so good with the 4 yr old, he didn't want to leave when his mother came to pick him up at night. The teens in our group had lots of fun in their clubs and met a lot of other teens, it helped it was a springbreak cruise. The adults did everything from Karaoke every night, to bingo, casino, and shows. As far as bringing drinks on board, we were told no, but when we got to the terminal, there were dozens of people carrying 12 packs of soft drinks. We hid what we could in our luggage!! The staff was outstanding, every one of them that made eye contact with you, greeted you. They were very knowledgeable about events that were going on and kept us informed on the extra special things we didn't want to miss. The food was okay, if you got something you didn't like, you could always go back for something else. Room service was good also. The 24 hour pizzeria included a pannini bar. I had a massage on board in the spa. It was well worth the money but I also got a massage in Progresso on the beach for $15 that was just as good. I didn't do any excursions in Progresso, I just stayed on the beach all day. It was hard to relax b/c of all the vendors coming by all day, one even sat on my beach towel to show me his silver. Some in our group went on the Flamingo tour and said it was worth the $20. In Cozumel we shopped all day and ate at Mr Chile's. It was authentic Mexican food and was very good! The margarita was huge and very strong. I wobbled all the way back to the boat...lol. We did find some very good t-shirt deals in Cozumel in the downtown area. I wish I would have known before hand what to pack because I did overpack. I did not wear near as many dress up clothes as I thought I would and I didn't pack enough casual clothes. On our fun days at sea, it was more of a t-shirt/swimsuit and shorts kind of day. Our last fun day at sea, people were still in pajamas at lunch and it was very casual. Don't spend a lot of time on your hair either b/c it's so windy on the decks, your hair won't stay in place anyway. The cruise was amazing and I can't wait to do it again. Read Less
