It always amazes me when I read people's reviews of a cruise ship. Some of the things that people complain or are disappointed about are simply funny to me. Everyone has their own opinions and expectations for what a cruise should be and I'm sure that there are things that you like about one ship over another ship, but I have been on 16 cruises with 11 of them being on Carnival and have NEVER once been on a bad cruise. It's all in what you make of the cruise. Reading these Fantasy reviews would scare a person from going on this ship if they had never been on this ship or a cruise, but we just got off this ship last week and will be sailing on her again in around 87 days and I look forward to sailing on her. We chose this cruise due to the dates of sailing, the great price we got and the port being somewhat close to our home - (7 hour drive). Sure, do I wish that there was a refrigerator in my cabin, yes, but it's not going to ruin my cruise or make me frustrated for 5 days and then look for everything and anything to find wrong with the cruise. The cruise director was fabulous and did a great job involving EVERYONE in the activities. He had a lot of energy and was quite entertaining. Our wait staff in the dining room was one of the BEST we have ever had- they were attentive, very fast and we enjoyed dinner every single night in the dining room. Our food was always served hot and quick and we enjoyed talking with them each night. We were in an ocean view cabin and our cabin steward was good- he seemed to always know when we were gone because when we came back our room had been freshened up. This ship is an older ship and doesn't have all the bells and whistles as the newer ships, but you know this when you book the cruise PLUS the price was great. Go with the mindset that you will enjoy yourself and don't let the little things ruin the whole cruise- you're still on a cruise which is better any day than a day at work. Read Less

We picked this cruise to end a recent holiday in the USA. We have done several Carnival cruises before and have enjoyed them. This cruise was so bad it may have put us off using any Carnival company again. Check in was rather chaotic with a large amount of lines here there and everywhere. We had opted for the "faster to the sun" option and this gives you priority checkin, luggage delivery and stateroom access. From what I could see we wasted our money. Spotted huge amounts of guest boarding the ship in large groups where only one person had the pass. If they are not going to police the lines then don't even offer the option as we felt totally ripped off with this. The Cabin was okay for a 25year old ship but the a/c was rather loud when you turned it up. The service in the dining room for dinner was a joke. It seems to us since they changed the tipping to automatic the level of service has gone through the floor. Not once did we get what we had ordered. Items were missed every eveing to the point that we just gave up. Partners steak was over cooked every night. SIde dishes getting to the table when you had finished your main. And the waiter giving you your selections in the order that was easiest for him not for you. Cabin was reasonably clean and the cabing steward was okay but the service again was slow. We did not do any excursions or go to any entertainment. But the misic by the pools was far to loud and found the cruise director to be a pain in the rear with announcments every 15 to 20 miniutes We did walk round the ship and it is so obvious that this ship is well past her best with rust and dirt everywhere. We had a party of 17 on the ship and we had a blast. The ship is older but refurbished so that means the bathrooms are a little larger than the new ones but still a great ship. I wish there had been more entertainment but the Piano Bar, disco, comedians, etc. would get my best ratings. Leaves Charleston so if you live in the south, it's the perfect location if folks want to drive to save money. Freeport is not my favorite port but Nassau offers many options. The days at sea were relaxing and the food in the dining room is fabulous! Some folks mentioned they didn't know you could sit down to breakfast and dinner. We didn't go to the buffet and managed to not gain weight! You can order as many entrees, starters as you like. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. We were in room M170 which was noisy during the day but quiet at night. M170 is about mid-ship so not too much walking if you know where you are going. We bought the liquor package the 2nd day (last day it's offered). Lastly, we heard from many that Fantasy would not return 2016 but Carnival would select another larger ship for Charleston. Hope this has been helpful. Read Less
