I have been on 3 Carnival Cruises and my wife has been on nearly 10 of them and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had on a cruise. First, I realize that we cannot control the weather but as another person included in their review, our itinerary remained unchanged until late Sunday evening when we were informed we would be going to Key West instead of Princess Kay. No big deal, but then we spent the rest of the cruise on the damn boat. No other ports that we could go to so we spent 4 1/2 days at sea of a five day cruise. Secondly, I will echo another reviewer in stating that the Captain continuously placed us at risk by getting too close to the hurricane. Although the status of our location said we were safely away from the hurricane, there were more than two instances in which the ship was sailed into the green area of the hurricane. On Tuesday morning at 2:00, the ship was rocking so bad from the waves that it literally caused my wife and I to roll in the bed. It kept us up all night, not to mention the kids that were in the room next to us. Sounded like construction going on all night long. Went to guest services, they apologized and said if it continued to let them know. Well guess what, it continued. We called guest services and were placed on hold waiting for someone to answer. And this was at 1:00 in the morning. Still nothing done. There was a strong sewage smell that stayed the entire cruise. We could smell it in our bathroom, down the hallway, on the Lido deck, practically everywhere. The explanation we received was that it was "Sea Water". Sorry, but the only place it smelled like that was actually on the boat. So back to the rough waters of travel. On Wednesday (last day at sea), the waters were so rough that dinnerware was sliding on the tables, deck chairs were sliding on the decks, and chips fell over in the casino at the table I was at. But we were continuously reassured that all was safe. Each day, the Cruise Director and Captain held a Q&A session regarding the status of the cruise and the hurricane. Once we were informed that we would not be going to any other ports after Key West, we were told they were going to add a lot of entertainment on the ship to make up for the missed time from our destinations. If you consider adding trivia games and back/arthritis seminars as added entertainment, then you have different expectations of what entertainment is than I do. One of my biggest complaints of all is the fact that while we were at sea, they never made an announcement or sent a letter to our stateroom to inform us that they provided all the passengers free WiFi so that we could contact our families to let them know we were alright. We found that out from other guests who were at our dining table. Piling on with some of the other reviews on here, we arrived to Port Canaveral and was sent on a charter bus for two hours to the Jacksonville Port after being told multiple times that they were going to extend the cruise until the Port was open. In conclusion, I called Carnival Customer Service today and inquired what they were going to do to satisfy our complaint. I was informed that when we booked, we signed a disclosure that stated Carnival reserves the right to alter the cruise itinerary at their discretion and would not be offering any reimbursement of credit for this cruise. Ultimately, Carnival said screw all of the unhappy guests with the decisions that they made and we are going to keep your money for a cruise that did not reach one destination on the itinerary (Key West was not on the original itinerary), offered nothing more than an apology for the inconvenience, and couldn't care less about the members who have CHOSEN their cruise line. We were planning on taking a family cruise for our family's 10 year anniversary next year but you can rest assured it won't be with Carnival Cruise. Their Customer Service can now be ranked up there with AT&T and Comcast. Read Less

I have been on 7 carnival cruises and I have enjoying every single one of them. This cruise was very dirty, the boat was very old, and there was rust everywhere. The bartenders at every single bar I'm not exaggerating were so rude gave you an attitude every single time you order to drink I overheard one of them telling another bartender the good thing about this cruise is it's almost over. Our Room Stewart took our towels out of our Room and never brought them back we were quested new ones never got them twice I asked for them.. My boyfriend ordered a drink at the alchemy bar 1 of the bartenders accidentally hit a drink in the glass shattered and the drink spilled all over me and my boyfriend and she gave us an attitude about it he apologized even though it was her fault and she rolled her eyes I contacted get services and they only offered me a $50 on board Credit. We bought the Cheers program faster to the fun and our tickets and together we spent about 4000 $ on this cruise and we got the worst service I could have imagined we tipped over the gratuity and still got bad service we never saw anyone smile which is unlikely, like I said I have cruised with carnival pleanty of times before. I have video proof and images of the staff being so nasty and rude I will never cruise this ship again and tbh how the customer care lacked to take care of this I doubt I'll ever cruise carnival again. I would never recommend this cruise or Carnival as a company. We went on a cruise for our honeymoon and paid around $1100 for an upgraded jr. suit. First of all, this ship looks like it came straight out of a 1980's strip club. Everything is old, purple and doesn't look like it has ever been updated. The food was mediocre, the entertainment was mediocre and the offshore activities were nothing to brag about. But honestly that's not my main issue with this cruise, had those been the only issues I wouldn't have written a review at all. I would have dealt with my sub-par cruise experience, but the way they handled our reservation and our experience with their customer service staff was so horrendous that I feel the need to actively recommend people to stay away from them and take their money elsewhere. When asking about the upgrade options I specifically wanted a room with a tub and the booking agent told me the junior suite and king suite both featured a jacuzzi tub, the junior was just a smaller square footage. We booked this trip months in advance. Immediately when we got to our room I noticed that the room did not have a tub at all, but a small shower. So we went straight to the customer service desk on the ship and asked to be moved to another room with a tub or to get a refund, because what we were told we were paying for was not what we got at all. They told us they could not help us, because no rooms on the ship have jacuzzi tubs and no other suites were available. We were told that they would put in a complaint form and someone would get back to us. After 2 days of no one getting back to us we went back to the desk and they told us to call carnival ourselves. We called carnival and spent almost 2 hours of our day, which I would have much rather spent enjoying my cruise on hold waiting to speak with someone about the issue only to be told there was nothing they could do for us. We then called the booking agent, but did not get ahold of him until after we got off the cruise. He admitted that it was his fault. He told us the system must not be correct and it is their error that we were told our room would have a tub when it did not, but that we would not be able to get a refund, because we needed to request one on the first day of the cruise. Even though we had been dealing with this since the first hour on our cruise and had requested a refund right away. We were eventually elevated to some kind of manager who was incredibly rude and absolutely no help. They took zero responsibility for what was obviously their error and were out over $1000 on an upgrade that I would not have purchased had I know what was actually featured in the room. Our room was barely better than a regular cabin, the only difference was that it featured a couch and a couple extra sq. ft. I would have rather not paid more than $1k for. We were only offered 10% off a future cruise for something that was completely their fault that we had tried to fix since the first day on the cruise. I would have gladly stayed in a regular cabin for the duration of my cruise and taken a refund, but I was told that was not an option and that was then used against me as further excuse not to give me a refund after my stay ended. I am so angry about the way this was handled, it was dishonest and nothing was done to apologize for or repair the fact that we were lied to in order to get a lot of money from us. Take your money to another cruise line who is honest and cares about their customers, because it is not Carnival. Read Less

This was the worst experience ever for my first cruise, which was an anniversary gift to ourselves. We were delayed in boarding the ship for over 4 hours and only received a mere $15.00 pp for our inconvenience. When we finally sat down for dinner and placed our order, my order was fumbled for I received raw steak when I specifically requested well done. Upon receiving my new steak,I was served cold side dishes with it,also at the same time, the Captain was calling for the safety procedures to be carried out, so all the wait staff had to participate along with the guests, so that meal was doubly ruined!!! First of all I considered this ship to be a TUGBOAT or place this ship in dry dock, due to the shape it was in,the outside of it has running rust stains, patch jobs that are visible to the naked eye around the windows and on the ship itself. The ship looks horrible!!!! The inside was even worse, my stateroom was horrendous!! upon opening the door, I could smell the must of the carpet, the room was dusty & dirty. The sink was stopped up, the room had flying gnats that bleed upon killing them and I did kill 1 fly. The sheet was changed only once, although the bed was made up everyday. The carpet floor was half vacuumed, for I did witness debris still left on the floor after a so called cleaning. I only reported the incident about the bugs to guest services, they claimed they checked it out and wrote a report. As far as I'm concerned nothing was really done for they did not have proof of my allegation about the bugs. I was told I should "not had thrown the smashed bugs away" Could you imagine?? I was livid, but I held my composure. As far as the dirty room, I wiped it down myself. Not only that,I felt My concerns were not of any significance and was not considered.I am really so disappointed with Carnival cruise lines in it's entirety. I will never use them again! I would like to be reimbursed, but I know I will not be!!!! THIS TRIP WAS LIKE A TERRIBLE NIGHTMARE!!! We tried to make the best of it, We drank and tried to participate in some on board activities, because after all this was our anniversary cruise!!! We did enjoy the music and the comedy shows and we made the best of and just made it work or our anniversary!!! As far as the port of calls to Nassau and free port, what a disaster, maybe carnival should change it, this place I consider a dump!! so in essence I HATED THIS TRIP ON CARNIVAL ECSTASY !!!!!!!! Upon my complaint to carnival cruise line , we did receive a 20% refund of our cruise fare only. I"m still not sure if I ever will cruise again, this was a terrible experience for my first time, this ship needs to be placed in a museum for artifacts!!! Read Less
