Hello We cruised on the Breeze due to port location and ports of call. We cruised out of Canaveral and we stopped at Amber Cove, St. Thomas USVI, San Juan PR, and Grand Turk. We were a party of 4. Two Adults two kids (15, and 12). My kids prefer to do things on their own so they did not go to either kid's club. We had your time dining which we really liked. We had amazing service. You could ask for the same area each night if you wanted. We didn't care because each night the service team was excellent. We ate at the lido, Guy's, Pig and Anchor, Cantina, Pizza and enjoyed all of them. You were never without choice. I prefer a plainer, less spicy option and my husband loves the opposite. We were both very happy with all of the choices. My 15-year-old was in heaven! A growing boy with endless food! We saw one comedy and the Flick show. Both were good. We liked the Dive-In movie on deck. A lot of fun. My 12-year-old and husband did one thrill theatre. It was a bit scary for her but he loved it. We also enjoyed the Red Frog Pub to get our sports fix! The staff and crew are excellent. They really do go above and beyond to make it a memorable holiday. I did hear other guest complaining and I really didn't get it. People will sometimes complain about anything! We had a balcony cabin. Loved the space on the balcony. The TV channels are bad and it would be nice to see it improved. Our cabin steward did our room twice a day and it was great. We didn't do any formal excursion. Just off the ship at Amber Cover, Grand Turk and walked around a bit at San Juan. We took a cab to Megan's Bay in St. Thomas. It was ok, similar to 7-mile beach in Grand Cayman. Overall I would highly recommend the Breeze. It is a great ship. Read Less

We cruise with Carnival because we love Carnival. This is my 2nd Christmas cruise the first was on Vista. While on this cruise my mom became sick and their medical department (Michael) was amazing and took such great care of her. My mom travels with oxygen, c pap, and walking is hard, but she had a great time we rented a scooter and it was perfect. We had a room with a balcony, so she had a great view if she didn't get off the ship. Embark and debark went smoothly until the transfer bus dropped us off st the wrong terminal. Frontier changed terminals so check. Loved Coco, one of the fun squad, she has so much energy and really makes everyone around her have a great time. We loved the entertainment and of course Bingo! The ports were great and I liked how at Grand Turk you could just walk off the ship and the beach was right there. We definitely will cruise again with Carnival. Read Less

3rd time cruising on the Carnival Sunshine, picked this itinerary as it fits our schedules perfectly and we've gotten used to spending Christmas in the warm weather. We had an aft extended balcony cabin on Deck 7. We often ate at the specialty restaurants and also had late dining. Didn't use the buffet, but it looked fine at a passing glance, had a couple of pizzas - they were OK too. Staff were great with the exception of a bartender at the Alchemy Bar (first time I have ever made an official complaint on a cruise ship and this includes all cruise lines we've traveled on). Ports of call were fine, sometimes it's nice to get off the ship and other times it's nice to stay on board. We cruise to relax and somewhat go off the "grid" but there was plenty to do. We managed to entertain ourselves quite nicely throughout the entire cruise - they call them "fun" ships for a reason. Weather was warm, the beverages were cold and the service was excellent - seriously what more could you ask for. We've booked on Carnival Magic for next Christmas. Read Less

Our first cruise was on Carnival Magic. Even though I have nothing to compare it to, it has set the standard on what I will expect. We chose this cruise because it fit in my work schedule and was a good price. With 5 in my family we were on deck 1 with an ocean view room. The room seemed small at first with all of our luggage out, but after everything was put away it fit is nicely. The steward met us shortly after to introduce himself and find out about the family. From that point on he called us all by our names. He left towel animals for us each day, which the kids loved. We ate at the steakhouse on the first night, which was great. Not many took advantage of the free bottle of wine. Service and food was great. The fun started right away, the sail away party was in full swing after the safety briefing. The CD, MarQ, was constantly full of energy and seemed like he had clones because he was all over the ship hosting events and keeping everyone smiling. The shore excursions were fun, and let us experience new things. One of ours lasted a little long and the ship waited for us to return shortly a problem. Everything on the ship was well kept, everything was always cleaned even if it seemed like it didn't. I did notice that they emptied and cleaned the pools every night. We really enjoyed the movies at night on the lido, catching at least one a night. Read Less

Was on this cruise as part of a baseball camp/cross cultural game experience. I have cruised many times with both Carnival and Norwegian and have also cruised on Princess and Royal Caribbean. This ship has the most pleasant and accommodating staff that I have come in contact with in quite some time. They were all very welcoming throughout the course of the week unlike some ship reviews which have stated the staff appeared worn out and miserable. The food was also very tasty and the wait staff at our 8:15 seating were very accommodating. The buffets as usual were very crowded during peak times and even the dining room for breakfast had a wait. My cabin steward was excellent. Room kept in great condition, ice left as requested with towel animals further beautifying the cabin everyday. Didn’t see any of the shows in the main theatre but found the live music to be outstanding. Attended the Quest which was definitely R rated, and also experienced one comedian that was very good and another who should be fired. Arrived at around 1:30 and the lines moved briskly. Debarkation to the various ports was frustrating because people refused to follow directions and created traffic jams on the stairs and corridors as one person tried to stay a step ahead of the other person while at the same time trying to keep their group together. This brought things to a crawl. People did much better when we disembarked in Miami. The Magic as a ship is mid sized not too small but not so large that you become exhausted going from one end of the ship to the other. I would certainly go on the Magic again should it visit some ports that I have not experienced. Read Less

We went on this cruise for our honeymoon and had an amazing time!! This was our first cruise ever and I’m so glad we chose this ship! Embarkation and debarkation were so easy and hassle free. Got on and off the ship very quickly and with no problems. The food was AWESOME and all the staff were incredibly friendly and kind. Guys burgers, smokehouse and Mongolian wok were our favorites... out of this world good!!! Our servers in the dining room and staff that made up our room... very personable and such great people!! Our ports & excursions were a blast. Only thing that lacked was the comedy club... wasn’t as funny as we would have liked but wouldn’t defer us from sailing on this ship again. Cruise director MarQ was super nice, funny and made the cruise sooo much fun!! We had extremely beautiful weather and no rough water which made for smooth sailing throughout the whole week! I would definitely recommend this cruise ship! Read Less

Port location was motivation to sail this ship. Charleston is well equipped to handle the bag drop off and embarkation smoothly. Disembarkation was just as smooth, although all passengers were trying to do the same thing, at the same time. Good assistance for handicap needs. Many did self disembarkation - saw them leaving as early as 7a.m. ECSTASY shows evidence of her age; however, inside, is clean, neat, and orderly. Good shape, imho. The gym had plenty of good equipment. Liked the Candy Shoppe and the $10 store. Casino was smokey and that odor seemed evident everywhere. Some evidence of the sewer odor, but never a problem nor lasting. Plumbing worked. A/C - heat worked. TV worked, but it didn't offer preferred viewing. We got the essentials of weather & news over and over. Inside cabin was well appointed with plenty of storage for two. No complaints. The bath was roomy considering our category. No toiletries other than small bar of soap and the shampoo and bath soap in wall containers. (hint: bring your own). Sheets were not worn; neither were they ironed. Could not get a robe nor a foam pillow. Coffee was consistently to our liking, as was the iced tea. If you prefer tea, you will pay $1.95 for their specialty teas, or drink the offered Lipton. (Another hint: bring your own if you are fussy.) To book next cruise while you are on a cruise was handled by the Shore Excursion. No incentive, imho, best to save this project for when you return home. There is a 2-wk window to do this. CD Leon was high quality. Zoe, too, was Excellent. We had fun with Kyle for his Paper Airplane Contest. Trivia is popular on this ship - many subjects and many times to participate. The theater entertainment isn't the most interesting, but performers were Excellent at what they could do in a small theater with small stage and limited resources. They made every effort to entertain us. The Holiday Show was nice. Can you believe Leon made it snow in the Atrium? The Atrium is very pretty and the hub of this ship. The dining room menus offered the usual, plus some unusual things to try. We particularly enjoyed the carved ham and carved turkey in the Lido Buffet. Desserts were good. Ice Cream in the dining rm was a good option for dessert with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Did not find many sugar free options, but did not request any, so don't know if available by request? There was a broad spectrum of age groups well represented in this pre Christmas cruise. Security was evident everywhere - never any problems. Children were not running wild. Did not see drunken behavior though the bars were always crowded. People get brave when they drink, but on this cruise, passengers were well behaved and cordial. Majority of passengers were from the Carolina's, Tennessee, Georgia. Picked up free Wifi in Princess Cays, Grand Turk, Amber Cove. Margaritas and Music were great at Margaritaville Grand Turk. We started a tradition last year of taking a cruise the week before Christmas instead of doing gifts as a family. We cruised with our family of 4 including a 26 year old and 20 year old. The, we brought along a friend age 20 and another friend age 22 resulting in 6 in our group. This was our second cruise as platinum for our family, one friend is gold, and another friend red. We cruise at least 2 times a year and have really enjoyed our past few carnival cruises. This was our first time on the Breeze and we booked it since it was a newer ship and for the itinerary, especially Amber Cover which we have never been to before. The boat itself is easily Carnivals most beautiful ship. The stairways had amazing photos from a photographer of the islands including sea turtles, underwater photos, island pictures, and more. Lido was on Deck 10 and had amazing decor along with the atrium on deck 3. We sailed the week before Christmas so the ship was beautifully decorated with Christmas trees all over. We had a tree lightning the first night where they gave out carnival Christmas hats and sang Christmas carols. The last sea day we had a holiday show featuring Christmas music and entertainment. The entertainment on board was decent, but had room for improvement. It’s about time carnival charges up theirs shows. We experienced the country show, motor city, love & marriage, flick, 88 keys, and the Lip Sync Battle. The country show would be been great with just the female singers as they were truly amazing, but the male singers were a bit of a let down. Flick was a cool show we had seen once before and the Lip Sync Battle was by far our favorite. The comedy was hit or miss. A few comedians that were very good and one particular that I’ve never seen so many people walk out of a show before ever. The ship has a thrill theater which we paid to see Polar Express in 4D for $3.50. It was cool, but not sure I’d pay to do it again. The show was only 7 minutes long or less. The Breeze doesn’t have a sports bar, but the casino and Red Frog Pub were the hang out areas to watch football this cruise. The Pub is always a great place to play games and hang out. Deck 5 is super cool on the Breeze since it wraps all the way around. The water slides are decent including a twister slide and drain pipe. The putt putt area was quite windy and we really enjoyed the ropes course it was a lot more fun than it looked. The food on board was one of our best experiences on carnival. They have Guy’s burgers, Guy’s Pig & Anchor, Blue Iguana, Cucina Del Capitano, Fahrenheit 555, Bonsai Sushi, Red Frog Pub, Mongolian Wok, the Deli, Seafood Shack, pizza, and standard dining room and Lido buffets. Our experience in the main dining room were very good with excellent service and great food. Our favorite lunch time eateries were blue iguana burrito bowls, Cucina del capitano build your own pasta, the deli buffalo chicken or turkey avocado, guys burgers, and pig & anchor. As for excursions, we did all of our excursions separate from carnival and had great experiences. For Amber Cove we took a cab to Damajagua falls to jump and slide off waterfalls. This is one of our favorite excursions EVER on a cruise. This would’ve cost near $100 a person through carnival, but only cost us around $30 a person by taking a cab and just paying the park directly. We also had a group of only about 10 people with 2 guides instead of the large carnival groups. Never felt unsafe and had an amazing time with 5 extra jumps/slides than carnival offers on the same excursion. In St. Thomas, we used Aqua Marine dive charters to do a private snorkel trip for the 6 of us. This was an amazing experience snorkeling away from the cruise crowds at a ship wreck underwater and then with turtles. This was a perfect day and way better than being crammed into a boat with 100s of other cruise passengers. In Puerto Rico, our cruise group split up into 2 groups. 4 of us went fishing with Magic Tarpon and caught fish. The other 2 of us went to Fortaleza Street to see all the umbrellas by the Governor’s house. This is only about a 10-15min walk and absolutely worth it. After seeing the umbrellas we then took a cab to Isla Verde beach to hang out the est of the day I’d 100% recommend taking an Uber instead of a cab it would’ve been half the price for us. In our last port, we walked to Governor’s Beach in Grand Turk. Easily, one of the most serene places/beaches in the world. We spent about 2hours here before walking down the road to Jack’s Shack for drinks and to play with the famous dogs Topher and Calypso. Embarkation and disembarkation were extremely easy on this boat. We did have priority/platinum so we went directly on the boat and walked off pretty quickly on the last day. The staff on board was great. We enjoyed every bit of this cruise and definitely recommend it to anyone whether it’s for families with young kids or couples on their own there is fun for everyone. He was so energenic and motivated the guests to participate to it all. Mikey had a personality that reached out to the crowd. We have another cruise booked with Carnival in 2019, I would love it if he was moved to the Breeze. We had an inside cabin for the 2 of us on the lido deck. It was clean but needed just a bit of TLC. Steward was attentive and we were very pleased with his service. We eat at the buffet and the food was good. Breakfast was the same each day. Lunch and dinner had a varity of choices. In addition in the pool area where Guys hamburgers with a condiment bar, tacos , burritos, ice cream and 24 hour pizza bar. Drinks were not light and very enjoyable. Great cruise value for the money. Boarding was as smooth as could be I swear it only took 15 min and we were onboard. The staff was all so friendly and helpful. A few stood out tremendously. Milton and William were amazing bar tenders at the Blue Iguana bar! Our room stewardess Okra was always available and kept everything so clean. Our cruise director Kevin was so funny. He really kept the crowd entertained! Also all the live music, comedy shows and nightclub was so much fun! Our favorite musician on board was Sam Fisher. He’s a must see! Uriel assisted us at the medical center and was very helpful. The food was great and are cabin was bigger than expected. We had a large ocean view window room. The day at sea was also very enjoyable with lots of entertainment! I would highly recommend this cruise ship! Also I recommend getting the Cheers package of you drink it was worth the money! I chose the Carnival Glory because it was sailing to St. Thomas, Puerto Rico & Amber Cove for my birthday. Im a little disappointed in myself because I took a map and did not wake up for the greet & mingle party on Sunday. Sorry guys next time. While on board of course Guys burger was fantastic. However, I was disappointed in the seafood shack.....the fish was to greasy with to much batter, a big let down. I tried for two days to get to the pool but as expected no room & the kids was jumping in and splashing (unsupervised). At dinner time our table was non approachable and did not chat even after I told jokes ( I guess it wasn't funny) so we switched tables the next night. The comedy club was floored ( literally) standing room only & sitting on the steps. I really enjoyed John Dicrosta ( purchase his CD). All the comedians were good. I really didn't care for the self centered cruise director Dustin. Everything was about him & not enough about the fun as Carnival say. Could have been more shows and of course I lost at CLUE....but had fun looking for clues. My steward was great (Sang) and the dining room serves and I forget the Spa... The ports were beautiful especially St. Thomas were I found a great tour guide and explored the island and Beach. Puerto Plata was great ...the food....just great and I brought jewelry and Mamajuna...very tasty. Puerto Rico I visited the Barcardi factory were I had my first Mojito and poured my own bottle of liquor. Grand Turk didn't do much for me but fun in the sun is always good when you leaving 32 degree weather. Overall I had a great time in spite of the fish & Dustin. Read Less

The food in the dining room was very good. Our cabin was on Deck 8 and we loved being close to the pool and LIdo buffet. The Punchliner Comedy Club was our favorite. The comedians were very funny. We really enjoyed the Rainforest excursion in Puerto Rico. Our guide was very informative. We didn’t do an excursion on Grand Turk but chose to stay at the port and take advantage of the free chairs and umbrellas. We rented a Jeep on Saint Thomas and drove around the island. I would definitely not recommend doing that. The roads were very narrow, had sharp turns and dangerous cliffs. I would definitely cruise on the Glory again and visit those ports again! Read Less

This was our second voyage on the Breeze, cabin 9474. Cabin was super clean and in great shape, A/C worked very well. We traveled with another couple and opened our balcony doors to have the outside space. We did Faster to the Fun and had extremely smooth embarkation and disembarkation. We also used GoPortCanaveral for our hotel/transfers and highly recommend. We did the steakhouse and the chef's table. Both were WELL worth the money. We dined in the main dining room as often as possible and although we had your time dining, we found a waiter we liked and were seated at his tables every time (Just ask for John Wayne, LOL!). We found the MDR food to be acceptable and some dishes excellent. I find the ship's activities in the Fun Times too geared toward selling stuff. That's very disappointing. We were not interested in "blowing and going" on this cruise, so it didn't really matter with four port days, but... it's certainly worth taking a look at. I'd like more "activities." The employees on this ship are amazing. They make the difference. Service was top notch and the people were so friendly. Looking at booking my next cruise! Read Less

I must say I was hesitant about Carnival cruise lines. They have had more than their share of issues over the years HOWEVER The Carnival Breeze was an awesome experience!! I don't know where to begin.... The crew was everything you'd expect from the top of the top cruise line. Always a smile, always a greeting, always eager to help in ANY way! The ship had a cleaning staff working indiscreetly at all times, This ship was immaculate from stem to stern. We were invited to tour the galley and taste test many dishes. The galley is Huge! Its runs like a fine watch. The stainless steel stations were polished and looked like new. Im so sorry I forgot the persons name who escorted us around. I do remember he was from India and employed by Carnival for 19 years. Amazing gentleman. The dining room staff was just as wonderful. Our thanks to Wes our dining waiter. Wes is married to another crew member who provides services in the spa. Our thanks to Robert (from Macedonia) he is new to the Carnival family, an outstanding crew member! Robert served us breakfast each morning. We looked forward to his smile and was kind enough to share some of his background in Macedonia. Robert is a folk dancer that travels with a group in his off time. We loved this young man! I absolutely loved this cruise!!! Least i forget the spectacular good bye show from the dining staff, Unforgettable! I truly believe the services rendered by this crew would be totally acceptable by even the President himself! Thank You once again and we will see each other again God Bless PS There were two issues. TV viewing stations are poor and I missed the nightly news. I dont consider CNN news worthy. 2nd issue I know you cant fix and that is the elevator service. Either more elevators or less people. Read Less

Embarkation went smooth for us, because we happened to be around where they unloaded we got off fast. The Cruise director, Leigh, was great with announcements and his dancing. I booked a balcony cabin for the Eastern Caribbean cruise with stops at Nassau, Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk and Amber Cove. I opted for any time dining which gave me allocation to the Renoir Restaurant which is located in the middle of the ship. I was located in cabin 6379 which was conveniently located within easy walking distance of elevators, near the middle of the ship. Standard balcony cabin for Carnival which is spacious for one and adequate for two - not sure how those with more cope unless you each sit on your own beds for relaxation. Nassau : This was my second visit to Nassau and I wanted to spend time in the Straw Market. It's worth having a good wander around this and getting away from the stalls at the edge which are more mass-produced items to those in the centre where you may well see ladies working at their craft. Invest in a purchase or two of straw work and engage with the lady who made it for you. My US$20 basket was made by a 78-year old lady who told me how she had previously worked but now made baskets to keep her fingers nimble and how it got her out of the house, Half Moon Cay : Definitely one for the beach fans. I took a walk around the back access road in the hope of finding a little solitude - which I did for a while in one of the shelters (presumably where you can wait for the shuttle back to the dock if you've walked too far) but it didn't last long. I didn't spend much time ashore and rather appreciated the balcony of my cabin instead. Grand Turk : A selection of shops, cafes and bars but mainly a beach stop again. You can get your passport stamped at the 'post office' here but it's not much of a stamp. I made the mistake of getting off ship for the second time just before sunset (a real struggle as none of the gangways are left open for those wishing to depart so you have to battle the returning crowds). I wanted to get some sunset photos and photos of the ship lit up - unfortunately, the mosquitos had other thoughts, so if this is something you'd like to do here, be sure to use bug repellant. Amber Cove : Open some 5 years, this is a purpose-built port for the cruise ships. Great selection of shops, cafes and bars where I enjoyed a lovely iced coffee. As it's purpose built, the Amber Cove sign is strategically placed to ensure your cruise ship is in the background. Additionally, there's a large pool complex here which is free of charge. This is because there is no beach at this stop. One of the reasons I cruise Carnival out of the USA (I'm a UK resident) is because I enjoy playing craps, which we don't have in the UK. So cruising this way I get two holidays in one. Maria (from Russia) was an excellent dealer in the casino - I look forward to seeing her on Carnival Glory in January 2019. Like other patrons, I do wish Carnival would remove smoking from their casinos instead of making it the only interior space for smoking. As craps players, we were slightly spoiled as none of the regular players smoked and it was the 4th evening of the cruise before any smoker joined us. The first couple of evenings they had new dealers for craps learning alongside the more experienced staff. It's important for players to remember that we rely on these people to be able to play and we do need to give them opportunity to practice their craft. I ate in the Monet Restaurant for breakfast - service was good. In the evenings I ate in the Renoir Restaurant, sometimes solo and sometimes at a shared table. Antoine and Krestina were excellent here. Lunch was a selection from the Lido deck buffet - followed by a plate of cake to take back and enjoy on the balcony. I didn't participate in any of the other activities on the ship so can't comment on the entertainment in general. I did have to wait in the atrium area a couple of times for a table in Renoir Restaurant and have to say that a found the string trio rather disappointing. Their backing track was a little too loud, not allowing the strings to dominate; they barely smiled and never spoke. Read Less

My wife and I sailed with our son, who turned 2 on December 1, 2018, on the Carnival Magic’s December 2, 2018 sailing to Amber Cove, St. Thomas, San Juan, and Grand Turk. This review will give a synopsis of our experience. We live in Coconut Creek, Florida, which is just north of Ft. Lauderdale. We arrived at the Port of Miami at just before 12:30 PM on December 2nd. Embarkation was a breeze and we were on the ship by 1:00 PM. When we boarded the Carnival Magic, we went straight to Guy’s Barbecue, having read that the lines are very long on sea days. My wife and I loved the pulled beef while my son loved the mac and cheese. Unfortunately, this was the only time that we were able to enjoy Guy’s Barbecue on this cruise. After having lunch at Guy’s Barbecue, we registered our son in Camp Ocean. Carnival is the only major cruise line that will accept a 2 year old in their children’s program. Camp Ocean reminded us a lot of our son’s Montessori school. We can’t say enough good things about the staff. They seemed to genuinely care for the children. For those that are wondering, they give all parents of young children an old Nokia phone to call in case of an emergency. With the exception of the one day that my wife and I went on a ship-sponsored excursion in St. Thomas, my son spent about 3 hours a day on our cruise in Camp Ocean. One final great feature of Camp Ocean is that they let you wait with your child in the children’s area while waiting to disembark. After enrolling our son in Camp Ocean, we went to our cabin, a Deluxe Oceanview on Deck 1. We spent more time in our cabin, due to my son’s nap and sleeping schedule, than we did on previous cruises. The extra space and sink and bathtub came in handy with a toddler. I would book this cabin category again. We had most of our breakfasts and lunches on the Lido Deck. While I tried Guy’s Burgers early in the cruise, I preferred the Blue Iguana Cantina for breakfast and lunch. We also went to the complimentary pasta bar in the Italian restaurant once for lunch during our cruise and took our son to the Dr. Seuss Breakfast, which we recommend even for guests without children. All of our dinners were had in the Northern Lights dining room. Our server, Auth, was excellent. My son can get antsy and Auth made sure to get his meal out very quickly. We were usually in and out in under an hour. Our meals ranged from fair to good. While we did not go to any of the shows at night, there seemed to be a lot of activities onboard the Carnival Magic. Our cruise director, MarQ, was very visible and seemed to enjoy interacting with the guests. We did, however, take our son to the Build-A-Bear workshop (I bought my son a shark), the Dr. Seuss Seuss-A-Palooza, and the going away party in the Magic Atrium on the last night. My son had a very good time. The Carnival Magic is in very good condition and has top notch facilities. For example, my wife and I enjoy working out. We found the gym equipment to be in excellent shape. We also spent a lot of time together in the Serenity and with my son in the Magic Atrium. The only design flaw we found is that you have to walk through the smoke-filled casino in order to get anywhere on Promenade Deck. This cruise had a perfect itinerary for traveling with a young child. In Amber Cove, we stayed within the port area and took our son to the children’s splash area and water slides. My son loved going up and down the slides. In St. Thomas, we left our son in Camp Ocean when we went on a ship-sponsored snorkeling excursion on a catamaran to Buck Island. The unlimited Rum Punch after we went snorkeling with endangered sea turtles was the icing on the cake to a great excursion. In San Juan, we took our son to the El Morro and then walked back through Old San Juan. In Grand Turk, we walked along the beach to Jack’s Shack. The turquoise blue water was breathtaking. My son loved playing on the beach. Disembarkation was the worst part of our cruise. Unfortunately, CDC chose to do an inspection on the day we disembarked. To compound matters, the Allure of the Seas, Empress of the Seas, Norwegian Getaway, Disney Magic, and Carnival Horizon were also in port. We were not able to get off the ship until 10:00 AM. However, once we were off the ship, we quickly got our bags and went through customs. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we had not been to several of the stops before. The ship was very clean and the staff was attentive. Mikey the Cruise Director was fantastic and the best one we have seen in over 40 cruises - he never stopped interacting with the cruisers the whole 8 days. This was our first experience at a roll call event and were disappointed in the small turnout, but got to speak to several people. They took a group picture and everyone received it as a souvenier which was very nice. The shows were professional and well done. There were 4 different comedians on the cruise and some were much better than the others. The food was very good. We recommend downloading the HUB app for your smartphone as you can see the day's schedule and menues right there. The pool area was nice and lounges were usually available with no trouble. We would recommend this midsize ship to anyone. Read Less

I have almost 25 cruises under my belt, I have cruise the sunshine three times this year, I keep me coming back for more. I can’t get enough of the Motown celebration and Mardi Gras night to name a few. The entertainment staff is awesome they keeps you on the edge of your seat. The dining room staff are very attentive and appear eager to meet your needs, it is amazing that they can call you by name. Shout out to Mikey, one of the best cruise directors I have ever seen and the DJ aboard the ship was awesome. As we sailed away l observed all the passengers aboard The Royal Caribbean packed to one side of their ship, it looked like they were wishing they were aboard Carnival Sunshine, the Dj shouted out Who cares about how much noise we make, we’re out on the ocean and the song played “turn down for what “. The staff aboard the ship were awesome, in the dining area the Casino and house keeping. I'm currently planning to return to the Sunshine again in May 2019 and I have a back to back cruise planned for December 2019 aboard the Panorama out of Los Angeles. Any reason to go on cruise, is a good reason, as I continue on the hunt for more delightful times at sea! Read Less

Great get away just before the busy holiday season. MIkey the Cruise Director is fantastic. Keeps the crowds involved and entertained. Wonderful staff from top of the ship to bottom.Onboard entertainment was great so loved they get the audience interacting with the team. Bingo is getting more expensive with lower prizes. The food coming out at MDR could be warmer. Sometimes i got cool food so sent it back. Perhaps the Bartenders in Red frog pub deck 5 could know a little better english. I ordered a Rum Jumper when i signed the slip i saw i got a painkiller. We didnt order room service as we are pretty low key folks, but our friends did daily coffee and hot water came hot. Great selection of sweet rolls. As we have been to all the ports before we did not do any shore excurisions just got off and walked around the port area and enjoyed a few cold ones while the wifes shopped. Read Less

We wanted to be one of the first to cruise on the Carnival Horizon. There were so much hype and expectations. So glad we did!! Overall one of my top 3 cruises. Ship- Beautiful and decorated for Christmas Cabin- If I had to complain about something, it would be our cabin. We were in room 12221(Interior Spa Room). Only one closet to hang clothes and 3 small drawers for two to share. I don't remember ever having a room with only one closet to hang clothes or very little space for the fold up clothes. Dining - We had "our time dining", so it was a different waiting staff each time we went. It was the best dining experience we have had in the past. Entertainment- The shows are top notch. Wish we could see more. Service- Our Stewart was EXCELLENT! Ports and Shore Excursions- We did not book any excursions through Carnival Read Less

This is the newest Carnival Ship in fleet going to an Island I had not been to before ( St Kitts) You might miss the towering 9 story atrium but the new 3 story with the ever changing lightscape tower in the center of the Atrium bar is really cool. ONCE you master the new elevators it's a great innovation. I found that the "learning curve" for many passengers took perhaps the whole cruise. You have to hit the floor button in the waiting area as many times as there are people in your party or there may not be enough room as it's a "smart" elevator. However they need a handicap button as when a person with a wheelchair or scooter enters it's hard to fit more people in. The Comedy club venue ( Limelight Lounge deck 4 ) is small and the shows only last 30 minutes so get there early to get the best seats. Playlist productions has great shows in the forward Liquid Lounge (Decks 4 & 5) which turns into their late nite nightclub after the shows.Promenade deck 5 has many shops and bars with plenty of activity My best bartenders were: Pig & Anchor Bar = Ivana. Havana Bar = Diana, Alchemy Bar = Maria. Didn't go to the Piano bar but many said it was a great venue late after dinner. Read Less

Carnival Horizon was a different experience compared to previous Carnival cruise ships, added rides, water works, etc. This was our 10th Carnival cruise. Entertainment was better that previous cruises. It was nice to have a live band for some of the shows, rather than canned music. Dining was as good as before, with the exception of too many extra charges for various restaurants. The Bonsi Teppanyaki ( habatchi style) wasn't worth the extra $80 dollars and the food preparation was slow, maybe due to lack of chef experience? The service was good as usual, the elevators were a different experience, but eventually grew on you) We do miss the elevators in the central lobby/bar area. As other ships, it takes a few days to get use to the layout. We do miss the Filipino bands from previous cruises which we consider better that the violin, singe guitar, etc entertainers (personal choice of course) If you want to dance, sing along, bands are much more fun. Karioki - only 4 times in 8 days, should be every day as other Carnival ships (I like to embarrass my wife) The wife enjoyed her spa visits! Dining - the midnite buffet is baack.. would be nice if it had some variety, rather than the same thing every night. One thing we have learned over the years, is on the first day, go find your best bar on the ship, find out who the lead bartender is, and give 'em a $100 tip. Then they will take care of you the rest of the cruise (and no extra tipping required!!) Another note: the muster station exercise was indoor (rather than melting beside the boats) however it was a bit confusing, so pay close attention. This is the best time of year to go cruising, just outside of hurricane season and before holiday vacations for us. Read Less

Also, we ate in the Reflection Restaurant more this cruise than ever before. Our waiter Slavisa was great. We had table 236 and had a great time with all the diners around us. I really do not have anything bad to say about the cruise. Our cruise director Mike is fantastic and very friendly. Loved the ship , very beautiful. We were checked in at the airport so when we got to cruise terminal, we went right past everyone and thru security and on ship. This was the best boarding process we have ever had.
