The positive is that the ports of call we loved ... Amber cove and Grand Turk. Our cabin we had was a grand suite u98 . Room was clean and comfortable. Out cabin Stewart was great along with the dining staff . On the down side. Food on buffet was fair at best. Terrible selection. Dining room was hit or miss. 2 nights paid for an upgrade for surf and turf. One was good. The other was half the portion size. The last 2 nights dinner was good. Casino was way tight . Couldn't hit a nickel. . The worst part was the ride. This was my 5th carnival cruise with the last one being through hurricane Michael. This ship rocked horrible the whole cruise. Won't be going back to Elation.... But still like carnival. I think this ship needs overhaul to stabilize it better . Going through hurricane Michael was smoother than calm seas on the Elation Read Less

I convinced my husband to go on a cruise for our 20th anniversary. I am now afraid I will never get him on another one. First, let me say that service, room steward, food were wonderful! I loved going to the dining room every night. The buffet food was ok, it’s just massed produced food, nothing spectacular. Guy Fieri’s Burger restaurant was great. The problem with the ship is the constant rocking. It is a smaller ship and habitual cruisers were saying this was the reason why (though a few said they heard it had a broken stabilizer). We had calm seas and you would stumble between the walls walking down the corridors to your stateroom. The decor is outdated and a little garish, more suited to a Vegas casino than a ship going to tropical locals. If I can get him on my dream Alaskan cruise I will definitely look for a larger, wider, newer ship. Read Less

This cruise to the Dominican and Grand Turk was a retirement gift from my co-workers. It was our first cruise and it was great. I will remember it always. Deon, who was our cruise director and a lot of the entertainment on the ship, made this cruise the best time ever. He and all of the staff on the ship including Ivanna from Ukraine who was in the spa, Christina from Romania in guest services, Luisito from the Philippines our favorite waiter, Ramona our cabin steward and Rawanda from South Africa in the jewelry store treated us all like family. They were truly amazing people who got to know us and always welcomed conversation with us. They love their jobs and it shows in how they take care of everyone on the ship. Because of them we will return to Carnival for future cruises. As Deon said....we all came together as one big family on the ship, joined hands and shared our lives together as one big family for 5 days. Deon entertained us in the Fantasia lounge with Hasbro Games. He danced and sang for trivia and different events around the ship especially on the Lido deck. He was fantastic and got everyone involved. He was also very informative each day with what was going on and when so you could plan everything and not miss any major events. The food on the cruise was excellent especially the Guy’s burger joint and the pizza/deli. The buffets were also very good but the desserts were less than desirable. Thank goodness for the swirl cones they were always good. The bars were all phenomenal and loved kareoke! The excursions were okay at the Dominican and Grand Turk. We were not impressed with the tour of Grand Turk. They called a side street with shells and a few benches a nature preserve. The tour guide said “okay ladies and gents” a thousand times as he showed us just old dilapidated houses. The Dominican tour was better. We did not like the shopping experience at each port because we wanted to purchase more cultural items made by the locals and that was not an option. You could only buy junk from China in higher end shops that was the same in every store or high end jewelry that no one could afford. The beach areas were very small unless you bought excursions. The water and beaches were clean and beautiful. All in all being on the ship was the best part of our trip. Next time we will plan the more adventurous excursions. Read Less

First of all let me say this was my 16th cruise on Carnival in the last 8 years. All but one of those has been awesome until this one. This was a first cruise for my grown daughter and three nieces. My daughter & I had a deluxe ocean view cabin. While the shower pressure was fine, the water in both basins had very little pressure and the drains were almost clogged shut. Our room steward was very attentive but the room itself could have been much cleaner. Many of the common areas of the ship are worn & need of repair/paint. The food in the buffet was fine and Guy's burger bar great as usual. The Blue Iguana Cantina is usually a favorite but this was terrible. The guy making burritos in the morning didn't know what he was doing. The condiment jars had not been refilled from the day before and some of the toppings looked like they had been left out uncovered. In the buffet, the water stations would only run a very slow stream so it took a long time just to fill a glass. At one point one of them quit entirely. When we arrived in Half Moon the crew was disorganized and for quite some time only were running one tender boat. Even though we were Platinum priority, we had to wait for several tenders before there was one with a ramp so that my daughter could use her knee scooter. The cruise director blamed the problem of only one tender gangplank on the "rough water" but there was no rough water. As always, the ports themselves were great! The production shows were very good and the performers better than average. Also enjoyed the comedy club. The Hub Chat feature that is supposed to allow us to communicate with others in our group did not work. An those in the group that purchased wifi said it was down more than it was working. Debarkation was a joke!! We were in port for over 2 hours before the baggage for the priority passengers was unloaded so we could disembark. As I said, we have cruised out of Port Everglades many times on other Carnival ships and never had these kinds of waits. While I have another Carnival cruise coming up, thank goodness it's not on the Magic. Won't be sailing on that ship any time soon. Read Less

Had to always call if needed towels or ice or toilet paper... ect... The ship rocked the whole cruise ... THE WHOLE CRUISE !!! It was awful!! We DID NOT have bad weather either. Casino was fine.. the waiters were great in there. The dinners were just ok. The comedy was funny. We did go to Grand Turk and Amber Cove and the ports were great as always !! We will never go on this ship ever again !!! We wrote to Carnival.. but haven’t heard back from them yet. Maybe we should try another cruise line just because of no response. Nothing is 100% so 4 stars. Well happy Halloween. Just returned from the Halloween cruise on the Magic. Halloween night was great as usual. First I will give a bit of my disappointments. Not many. 8 day cruise. One afternoon mashed potatoes. That’s it, we only do the buffet so maybe in the dining room. Hate the dining room because of the 1-1/2 to 2 hours. Other things to do than just sit and wait for your food. Then hopefully you will like what they bring. Food on the buffet was blah as usual. The butter needs to be changed to something different. What they did was put super thin whipped butter in a jar and you dig it out. It is so thin, (How thin is it?) It slides right off of the knife before you can get it to your plate. They supply a clean butter knife for each use. Even if you use a spoon, you then need the spoon to put it on anything you have on your plate. The knife is useless. The best way I have seen on a ship was squares of butter and you get them with small metal tongs. No foil, no mess. Now for plastic straws. What they are made of I have no idea. However it is a very bad idea. They are thick and in a short time go completely limp. Yes limp. They will hang down over the glass rim. The hole will close up completely. So you either get another, or ask for a plastic straw. My wife would not drink using it. She said the texture was disgusting. Guy’s Burgers were never hot. Just warm. Deserts were mostly cakes. Not much of a choice at all. We purchased the fish and chips. Not bad. But the next afternoon they had fish on the buffet. That was excellent. The TV in the room was a small 21”. Not a sharp picture and only one news channel CBSN. Now for the good. They now have a thin metal stirrer for your tea or coffee. They have a tiny spoon at the end. You do not toss them out. They wash them. So no wood waste as with the wood stirrer. Our room was an ocean view deck one. 1335 excellent location and it was very, very big. 4 big closets, two bath rooms. One with a commode, a shower and a sink, the other with a sink and a tub with a shower. Had a clothes line over the tub. Great for drying the bathing suits. The curtain over the window was ceiling to floor, wall to wall, a black out curtain. Real nice. The bed was super comfortable. The ship was in basic good repair. Clean and comfortable. Cool but did not freeze to death as on many other ships. All the shows were very good, one great one. Went to see 4 of the comedian’s for general audience. One was outstanding and left the ship the next day. My wife does not laugh much. With this guy. She could not stop, tears in her eyes. In the casino, I have not seen this before. They have handles about a third of the way down on the back of all the chairs. Made it so easy to pull out a chair. They were beautiful looking and very comfortable. Smoke in the casino was not bad at all. Almost un-noticed unless you sat down to someone smoking. The Deli was excellent. Something I have not seen on other ships. They always had fresh French fries. Nice golden brown straight cut. So I would get a warm Guy’s burger and go get the fry’s form the Deli. Nice! At 11:30 they had a small buffet for an hour or so. Chicken noodle soup, toasted cheese sandwiches, meat ball subs and a few other items. Very good. By the way. For the very first time on carnival, always super hot soup. Excellent. The steak house was awesome as usual. Carnival has the very best steak house out of all the cruise lines we have been on. Even the sea day brunch with the steak and eggs, excellent. Getting on was easy and fast so was getting off. Just keep walking. We left our room about 7:45 AM, they would like you out by 8:30 AM. We left our luggage in there and told the steward we would be back before 8:30 AM to get them. Not a problem. One major thing I like about deck one is the elevators. No one on them when you get it. Other than someone getting off. So when you want to get off with your carry on, so nice. This time the ship had to places to debark. Deck 2 and 3. What a great idea. I just walked up one deck instead of waiting for an elevator. We were mid ship and so was the gangway. Walked right off. So there you have it. A great cruise for a great price. Read Less

Embarkation was great. We arrived at Cape Canaveral around 10:30 a.m. and we were able to board before noon. The Carnival Breeze is a beautiful ship. Since our cruise was in October the ship was decorated for Halloween and had several activities on board that were Halloween related. Our dining experience was not what we have experienced in the past on Carnival. We had early dining in the Sapphire dining room. The service was fair. We were not offered refills on our ice tea, we had to ask. Waiter's were friendly but seemed stressed and in a hurry to clear dishes off the table. We felt like we were being rushed to finish our food. Food was always luke warm when served. Nothing was hot. Same with the buffet on the Lido deck with the exception of Guys Burgers they were hot and delicious. The entertainment was fair. We only enjoyed 1 of the shows. One night we ended up leaving before the show was over....along with several other passengers. We ordered coffee through room service a few mornings. Service was quick and servers were very nice. We only went on 1 excursion which was in St. Thomas, the sky lift. Beautiful view at the top. We had been to all of the ports in the past and we just enjoyed walking around to different shops and restaurants. Our room steward was great.Very nice. I doubt that we will sail on the Breeze in the future due to the food not being up to our expectations.Disembarkation was well organized and quick. Read Less

My husband and I were on the Carnival Magic for the second time (first was August 2018). We took this cruise to celebrate both our 45th birthday. This was our 11th cruise, 10 with Carnival and 1 with RCCL. Overall ship maintenance. 1. The most important issue (I think) comes from the A/C system! We've been roasting in our cabin, mislead by the guests service who called maintenance even though, that we learned later, they knew it wouldn't be fixed. Other passengers complained about it too and we all been told the problem would be fixed the next day but never happened. There were also some public areas where the A/C was barely to not working at all. Again, when people complained they were told that there was no problem! 2. This ship is way more rusty than all other ships we've been on, regardless of the class and age (we've been on Fantasy class, Conquest class and Dream class). 3. Throughout the week we could smell sewage odor in differents part of the ship. The first evening it was stronger in the Atrium and when guests service crew were asked about it they pretended not to smell anything and reply they would send someone to spray with air freshener! 4. Windows were so dirty that we couldn't take pictures through it. In the past we could see crew members hanging around the ship at every port of call to clean the windows and ship. By the amount of grime accumulated it seems like it's been a while since they did. 5. In the Lido dinning room, over the tables, there is air vents with nothing to prevent dirt from falling. Food and drink... 1. We noticed a very big decrease in the quality of the food. I'm not saying the food was not good but the quality and taste in general wasn't what we normally see with Carnival. On the other hand we tried the steakhouse for the first time and it was amazing! 2. The water available on the Lido from the drink fountains tasted terrible and the limonade was way too strong. We've been drinking the ships water and limonade since our first cruise and never experienced something like that. 3. For the first time on any of our Carnival cruises, the service in the dinning room was average, at best. We experienced on our previous cruises excellente and personnalized service but on this particular one we felt neglected and rushed. Housekeeping 1. Our stateroom stewart was really nice and was doing a great job. When we told her about the room temperature she managed to find us a fan despite being rare due to the large number of cabins with A/C issues. She even wrote a special note on the mirror for our birthday. 2. From the public restrooms to the dinning rooms and the corridors, everything was really clean. Entertainment and activities 1. The playlist production team was fantastic. It was their first week on the Magic and we couldn't notice any hesitation or discomfort between them. 2. The Cruise Director, Leigh, was doing a great job. He is enthusiastic and easy to approach. 3. We tried to go to the Punchliner comedy club 2 or 3 times but the club was already packed 30 minutes prior to the show or the line up to get in was so long we coudn't get in. Ports of call 1. Half moon cay, as always is a nice stop. It's a perfect beach and relaxation day. The only thing I would say is there is not enough umbrellas. 2. Grand Turk was also really great. It's a really great place for people who enjoy snorkeling without spending big money on an excursion. 3. Amber Cove is a beautiful place with a pretty nice pool area. There is 2 waterslides that you can access for free and a zipline for which you have to pay. In conclusion, I do not recommend the Magic until it has undergone major work. As for the ports of call, if you enjoy a lot of beach and pool these places are for you! Read Less

This is our 8th Carnival cruise and it was probably the best yet. Embarkation was quick and easy. Arrived at 11 and was on ship by 11:30, even though had arrival appointment for 12-12:30 . Just have your ID ready along with your boarding passes to be scanned. Carnival holds the safety briefing inside in different areas of the ship, including the dining rooms, lounges and the main show room. It will depend on your assigned muster station. It is mandatory, they will scan at least one person's sail and sign card from each room but will ask where each member of your storeroom is and if they are visibly present, then their name will simply be electronically checked off. They will call out names of people who have not been accounted for until they show up, then they begin the briefing. The briefing itself went quickly. We watched sail away from deck 9 foward in a semi-secret location (see photo). We stayed in room 9216 which is a adjoining room but never had any issues with noise, however our balcony divider had to be wedged with a plastic bottle one very windy night as it was constantly banging. Our room steward Christian and his team were great, they cleaned our room once a day as we requested. We had the option of once or twice daily cleaning but chose only mornings. Christian was available pretty much all day so if we ever needed anything we just asked. We requested a daily filled icebucket which he never forgot. Never smelled any sewage as mentioned in other reviews on this floor, just cleaning products. I never noticed any issues with the ship itself, the crew was constantly cleaning and maintaining her thru out the cruise. We ate breakfast at the northern lights restaurant 3 times and it was very good, the buffet wasn't bad either for breakfast. Lunch mainly consisted of Guy's burgers - they are so good and usually look for our cruises based on whether the ship has a Guy's burger joint on it or not! We had downloaded the Carnival app and used it to request a table for supper because we had YTD and by the time we got to the restaurant our table was always ready. Our service team Rodren, Aarron and Richard were great, they delivered excellent service and set a high standard. They were in a section that included table 119 where we sat at or near. The app will assign you a random table so each night when when we got to the restaurant we always requested to sit in their section, which was usually accommodated. On the last night, there were no tables available in that section and were seated in a different section. Rodren and his team set a high standard so we had high expectations. The service was lacking in this other section we were sat in. It took forever to get bread or water and they never even gave us menus yet when they finally showed up they asked us what we wanted. Good thing the Carnival app shows the menus because we made our choices that way while we were waiting to be acknowledged. Entertainment was led by the Cruise Director Leigh, who was full of high energy and funny. He was probably the best CD I have every seen, the music trivia with DJ CUE was outstanding . We went to the 88 keys, America rocks and Flick shows held at the showtime theater, all were pretty good. There was one technical difficulty at one show which was quickly resolved. The best show was John Heald's marriage show that had us laughing from start to finish. The comedy club was also very good with Michael Lebovitz and Edgar Rivera, the PG and 18 + shows are basically the same except for profanity used at the later shows. We were disappointed that there were only a few nights of comedy shows as on other cruises they had them practically every night. On this cruise if you went on the first night it was a repeat the next show. Our first stop was Half Moon Cay which is a tender port, the wife and nephew had a early shore excursion and I was able to tender to with them even though I didn't have an excursion which I was happy about. We met at one of the restaurants with all the other excursions and were on the first tender out. I left them at the shore excursion kiosk on the island, grabbed all the gear and headed to the far end of the beach which is quieter and less crowded. The buffet on island was burgers, chicken and assorted salads. We left at around 3 pm and there was a line up, but found that the wait was for people taking so long washing their feet of sand at beginning of the line. There is 2 washing stations but people were only using one so go around to the other side it's much quicker. Grand Turk was our next stop. We got there at around 11 am and the Carnival Pride was also in port. They got there earlier. We booked Gibbs Cay Sting Ray Adventure thru Carnival. We again met at a restaurant and were first off the ship. By the time we got to Gibbs Cay the rays had eaten already and were not as plentiful because the Carnival pride had already been there. However we did manage to get photos with a ray. The snorkeling wasn't that great, thre arent much fish there, we have seen better. They caught fresh conch and showed us how it is taken out of the shell and we had a chance to sample a piece. There are a lot of the conch that is not as edible and that is what is fed to the rays. The excursion ended with rum punch on board only, then ended down the beach by the ship at the Reef Shark Bar and Grill where we were provided with complementary chairs, umbrellas and free shuttle back to the port. We could have walked down the beach but chose the 2 minute ride. We ate some of their food which was very good. We could have went back on the ship to eat then return to the beach but it's always good to sample the local cuisine. I believe this particular bar and grill are affiliated with Carnival, the property is big and seems to be growing. Amber Cove was our last port. We booked Damajagua waterfalls thru Ismael taxi tours. Technically it's 27 waterfalls but we only did 12, which was plenty. Because Ismael taxi is not a Carnival affiliated excursion, we had to walk 15 minutes to a meeting point outside of the port walls where we met Ishmaet at 9 am. It was a 30 minute ride down a main highway to get there. We had a wonderful day of sliding and jumping down the falls. We also were provided with a lunch which was very good. We left the falls by 1:30 and had plenty of time left to shop in port. We had to get back on the ship by 3:30. Disembarkation was quick and easy. Because we had an early flight, we received a letter in our stateroom with attached luggage tags #3 if we chose to have our bags waiting for us when we disembarked. We chose to do so and waited in the showroom and were instructed us at 8:30 that we could leave, even though our # wasn't called. We were thru customs and in taxi to airport in less then 30 minutes. Overall a great experience and I am looking forward to next year where we are considering the Magic once again. Read Less

I did try them both and had good results. I would book on this floor again the only downsides were our room location and every time the boat rocked so did you. I would pick a room away from the side door. The serenity deck and hot tub was amazing. The Italian food and the main dining room was amazing. The desserts on the Lidl deck was very good on this shift compared to other ships I have been on. The cakes were very good not dry at all. The actual food bar was mediocre to say the least. Chose this cruise because the port is 20 minutes from home. Been on many cruises and this was the 3rd time on the pride. It will be our last. The ship needs to be placed in dry dock for a complete refurbish. Many areas are rundown and rusty. Windows are filthy. On other ships, I would see crew cleaning external areas while we were in port. Never saw this on the pride. The food has gone downhill as far as free food in the dining room and buffet are concerned. The most edible free food are the guys burgers that closes at 6pm and blue iguana cantina that closes at 2. In the dining room, hot food is never hot. Dinner in the buffet is very limited and lukewarm. I wonder if this is a health code violation??? They have the same side dishes every night on the pride in the buffet. While passenger behavior and lack of class or decorum is not in Carnival’s control, the ship could do a better job in dealing with it by making sure staff nearby know to call security before things escalate. I personally witnessed two ladies get into an altercation at the omelette station. They were close to getting into a physical fight but the other lady walked away after arguing very loudly for at least 5 minutes. I was about to go for security myself because the staff just stood there. I was in the serenity area where a woman was yelling all sorts of profanity at her husband. Everyone in the area at the time could here this. I felt bad for the guy but the calm, nonchalant way he responded indicated he was used to it. Very sad. The wife was tacky in behavior and appearance. Security was called on a woman during the comedy show because she would not stop criticizing the comic for saying profanity used for females. He tried to deal with it and even apologized but she would not shut up. It was an R rated show so best to stay out if easily offended. Better to use foul language at the comedy show than on the serenity deck as I witnessed. No one used the hand sanitizers except me before getting food at the buffet and no staff asked them. There were long lines of people and no one else used the sanitizers while I was in line. I kept my own hand sanitizer wipes with me and used them on my hands before I ate. I witnessed an elderly couple grab cookies off the buffet using their bare hands because that station was not open yet and the tongs were not set up. They, of course, touched all of the cookies as they reached in. I said something and the dessert attendant removed the cookies. You would think a couple looking to be in their 80s would know better. Given issues with norovirus and other ship bacteria, keep your own sanitizers and do what you can to protect yourself. These are just a few examples. I could go on. The behavior spanned across all ages, races, and ethnicities from what I witnessed. It was a rainbow coalition of poorly behaved and tacky people and not about one particular group of people. On a positive note, our room attendants were nice. Everything was clean except for the refrigerator. The cruise director Dr. E was hilarious. The best cruise director I have had in the 15 cruises I have been on. Servers were good to us. Been to all of the ports before and did not do anything but relax. No excursions. They did a good job of cleaning up the port in Freeport but there are still signs of the storm as one of the restaurant buildings is still closed. The only excursions available were by the ship. We were not interested in shopping or going to the beach in Freeport. We would rather fly to another port than get back on the Pride. Read Less

Unhappy crew and staff that needs customer service training. Most of the staff was very slow in response. They seemed tired all the time. Seemingly hating their jobs. Very old decrepit ship that needs to be dry docked. Rusty walls, rusty sides, worn out floors, peeling pool sides, rusty pool sides. Dirty pool water looking more yellow than clear. Fraying deck chairs. Fraying and dirty carpets in inside areas. Cabins falling apart. Worn and old. Cabin was hot all week. No fans available. No clean sheets all week. Constant knocking on the door even with the "snoozin" sign hanging on the door. Cooks need training to produce edible food. Sometimes restaurant staff was rude, especially in the steak house. Cabin room service food was really terrible. Cold, tasteless and disappointing. Time to replace the ship and the staff. Not worth the price with such and old outdated ship and unhappy staff supplying poor customer service. Read Less

We normally cruise Royal. We've been wanting to see the Bahamas and like departing from Galveston because we can drive there easily, so we thought we would try Carnival. We traveled with four other families for a total of 15 people. Carnival does some things better. We liked the food, the kids club, and the entertainment were all impressive compared to Royal. The ship layout is horrible though. The buffet was disappointing and the volume of the music and PA on the pool deck made conversation impossible. Even our kids wanted to leave after the music got cranked up. Royal has better onboard ship features and activities. This ship had problems with sewage, water pressure, and air conditioning. My biggest complaint was the smoke from the casino poured out into decks 3,4 and 5 where all the activities and clubs were. My biggest compliment goes to the crew. Everyone was very nice and helpful. I was impressed that even the stage show performers seemed to enjoy interacting with the passengers. That was something I have never seen from Royal. Will probably still prefer Royal over Carnival, but might give them a try on one of their newer ships. Read Less

I chose this cruise because my family wanted to cruise and not have to fly to do it. I had been on this ship before and it was ok. I thought it would be better this time since it was a few years ago since my last trip. SMOKING, SMOKING, SMOKING, I had no idea that carnival allowed smoking on the ship, at almost 4 areas. I was sick the entire time, the smoke caused lung issues and breathing issues for me the entire trip. I had to mostly stay in my cabin due to the smoke all over the ship. None of the areas were enclosed, so therefore the smoke was everywhere! I could not enjoy the casino, due to smoking and neither enjoy the activities in the main lobby areas due to the smoke all over! So really I hated the trip! Due to the smoke I needed some meds from the medical clinic, however if you did not catch them when they were open u had to wait 4 or 5 hours when ever they decided to open up again! Hint: medical facility should have 24 hour access on a ship! There were very few daily activities planned, got very bored with eating and sitting in the dining areas, absolutely nothing to do during the day! Food was barely warm, at all times, fries always cold! Never saw any sanitizing on the ship. RCCL always sanitizes the ship right before your eyes! Carnival, please order sufficient supplies in your medical unit, I was told the simple over the counter med., I needed was sold out, and it was the second day! Waters were really rocky and no explanation or notification was given at anytime about why the ship was so rocky the first two days of sail! Guys burger place had the (car wash rags for napkins) absolutely poor taste. Not looking forward to traveling with carnival again! Read Less

We are a couple in our 60s; this was our 22nd cruise. Our friends came along, and this was only their 2nd cruise. Although we hadn't sailed on Carnival in 8 years, Pride's home port of Baltimore is only a 2-hour drive, so it's very convenient. We've never been huge fans of Carnival (this is our 5th time on Carnival and 2nd time on Pride), but we thought we'd give them one more chance to impress us. They failed. Miserably. Embarkation was a bit of a surprise, in that when they assign you a specific time, they mean it! We got there about an hour early for our 2:30 assigned time, and we waited in line outdoors for an hour. Once inside, all went smoothly... till we got on board. I need to stop here and say that 8 years ago, on our last Pride sailing, we were appalled at how very ugly it was! The Renaissance must have not been the most attractive era in history. We hoped the recent re-do in dry dock improved things. It did-- most furniture was much more attractive (or less ugly, depending how you look at it), and the myriad pictures with nude women (and defaced nipples) were gone. An improvement, for sure-- but I still think this ship is ugly! We were told that our key cards would be in the "mailbox" outside our cabin... and they were. But they didn't work. Nobody on our deck (1) could get into their cabins-- nobody's key cards worked. Finally, someone showed up to fix the problem-- he had to reprogram every single cabin's key cards. Annoying, but at least they fixed it. Our outside cabin was typical for Carnival, and our bed was very comfortable. Plenty of storage available. We liked our waitstaff so much by our second night of Anytime Dining that we requested them to please reserve our table every night. They were great, and the food was GREAT. That was dinner, though. Other meals were not as good-- our one breakfast in the dining room was very disappointing, both in the food and the ridiculously slow service. And things weren't great in the buffet, either: there is no more smoked salmon (lox) , my favorite. I did have it in the MDR, but I wished it were also available in the buffet. Also, if you wanted butter, it was not available in single wrapped servings-- instead, there was a large crock of it (nearly melted) for everyone to help themselves. I found this gross! And it wasn't easy to find, being far from the bread. I think our biggest disappointment was the entertainment. Carnival earned a good reputation for this, in our experience... but apparently not anymore! Two of the three production shows couldn't be held as expected because of rough seas, so they were replaced by the 6 entertainers sitting on stools and singing. Several were off-key, kinda ruining things. I wasn't surprised by how loud they were-- why is it assumed that making music louder makes it better? It doesn't. I'm glad we had the forethought to bring earplugs. The "show" on the last night was... :::: drumroll::::: a lip synch to recorded music. Ridiculous! There were comedy shows, but the one PG show we attended was mainly bathroom humor. Sorry-- not funny! And I seriously doubt that making it R-rated by adding a bunch of curse words would help much. Can't comment on the music on the Lido deck, because we spent most of our time in the Serenity area (which wasn't always serene, due to so many at the bar being very loud). Other than that, there were 3 musical acts playing around the ship at night. The same 3, all week, rotating locations. Tolerable to listen to... for a while. But over and over? Nah. The piano bar wasn't open much-- generally only too late for us. Good thing we like trivia, because there wasn't much else to do on sea days. With this cruise line, it seems to be all about the up-sell. Play Bingo! Buy a drink! Book a massage! Buy, buy, buy! Come smoke in the casino while you spend! Oh yes, the smoky, stinky casino... placed so all the smoke leaks out and goes throughout the ship. Gross! We did enjoy the ports. At Grand Turk, we went in the pool at Margaritaville. We actually found partial shade on Half Moon Cay, but didn't stay all that long. And although they told us upon arrival that Freeport would be replaced by yet another day at sea, on Wednesday it was announced we were going there. We'd booked an excursion, so we were glad. And since we were the first returning cruise ship since the hurricane, all the vendors were so pleased to see us that they weren't as aggressive as I'd always heard-- they were all very nice. So that's the good (the dining room food and service), the bad (the entertainment and general lack of things to do), and the ugly (better looking than it used to be, Pride is still one ugly ship)! Since our first cruise on the Elation, they have updated it to include the water park on top. The updates were very nice and we enjoyed Guys Burger as well as the other eating places that were added. On our first trip on the Elation as well as this one we did experience a lot of roughness as far as the sailing was concerned. Not sure if it was the ship or the water since the only times we've experience so much movement was on the Elation both times. Overall we enjoyed our cruise and experience. Our wait staff in the Dining Room was Godfrey, Ching and Bibiana. Ching was our main server and she (as well as the others) were wonderful. She remember our name after the first night and what we wanted to drink. As far as entertainment goes, I wish they would introduce something different. If you've been on several cruises you've seen the shows and it would be nice to experience something different. But, having said that our overall experience was great! Read Less

We had 3 rooms, a group of 10. We have sailed with Royal Caribbean and decided to give Carnival a shot this year; what a mistake. Everyone who worked on this ship looked mad all the time, employees would run you over, would not get out of your way when you were walking throughout the decks, pool areas and dining areas. The bartenders looked miserable and angry all the time, it was evident they did not want to be there. We had purchased the Cheers package, and yet the bartenders tried to limit every single thing you could order. If we ordered a drink, and didn't want bottom shelf liquor, we were told no, or just completely ignored until we had to demand the bartender to make our drink the way we wanted. After going back and forth with the bartender, we explained, per Carnival policy, you're allowed to have a drink of up to $20, therefore, allowing us to have top shelf liquor drinks. Although you are limited to 15 drinks per day, we were able to reach 11, and we stopped due to the fact they were using so much syrup, it would literally have your stomach hurting (by the way, not even tipsy off these drinks, very suspect). The Food: Absolutely horrible. The best food on this ship was the brisket from Guys BBQ and the burgers from Guys Burgers. The buffet was an absolute joke, the dine in was the same horrible food they were putting on the buffet. The pizza, well lets just say, that pizza didn't live long enough to make it to the oven, it was so dry and over cooked. Then comes desert; nobody can mess up desert, right? Well, Carnival Breeze even managed to mess up the desert, which was also disgusting. Hey, at least the Ceaser Salad was good. Instead of just hopping on here to leave a bad review, I did contact Carnival directly to inform them of our experience and also all the other passengers who were mummering about the horrible experience. I wanted to let Carnival know directly so that they could focus on what matters most. Some times, it's all about changing the small things to make big experiences matter, like a smile when you are being served, having a bartender who not only smiles, but listens to what you want. Friendliness was the main factor missing from the experience, and it was very odd that it was the entire ship. This experience just didn't feel like a 7 day vacation, it felt like we were a nuisance to everyone and really felt out of place. Unfortunately for Carnival, this will be my last cruise with them. I will gladly stick with Royal Caribbean as my experiences with Royal Caribbean are just what their name says, Royalty. Our group is also considering Norwegian as we have heard amazing things about them as well. Read Less

My husband and I cruised this ship 09/30 until 10/5 what an disappointment. Our intention with booking was finding an Itinerary that did not port in Nassau. This seemed to do just that. However on our way to Amber cove the captain announced there were mechanical issues with the ship that had to do with the speed and would not be able to stop in Amber cove but would port in Nassau. Passengers were given a $50 onboard credit and that was it. Keep in mind that this ship had a problem with this same mechanical 3 weeks before that ended up on the news. We thought there was no way this wasn't fixed. I spoke to crew members that informed me that our sailing was actually the 3rd sailing experiencing the same issue. During the whole sailing the boat was unsteady rocking up and down which I believe had something to do with the engine problem because the sea wasn't bad. I called guest services after we returned but the response I received lead me to believe that Carnival really didn't care at all. We live in Orlando and cruise frequently. This was #8 on Carnival. We booked a Grand suite at $1700. and expected an much better experience than we got. Read Less

THE BOAT: I chose this cruise to travel to the Dominican Rep and Grand Turk. Unfortunately, the motor broke on day 2... we could only make it to Grand Turk and got rerouted to Nasseau. The bummer is that a cruise to Nasseau would've been way cheaper, if we had wanted to go there. All they compensated us with was a $50 cruise credit, which doesn't cover the price difference between a Nasseau cruise and Dominican cruise. EXCURSIONS: In any case, vacations are what you make of them. The Grand Turk Excursion for Reef, Rays, and Open Bar was GREAT. Our Nasseau excursion was a Seaworld SemiSubmarine Tour. A great, cheap excursion overall. It was fast and all we wanted was to get back on the boat. Embarkation was fast and efficient. Debarkation... less so, but that might be more a customs issue that Carnivals. ONBOARD: The shows were great, and I really thought our room was worth the price. The bar service is a bit slow, and the main dining room takes a long time to serve food.Staff were friendly and kind. The comedy was a bit too raunchy for my taste. Unfortunately, the comedians were similar people with similar jokes. The interior decor could accurately be labeled Casino-Tacky. A lot of the onboard activities are sales pitches too. OVERALL, Carnival will offer good value for the money, but I think I'll choose another cruise line or a newer ship next time. Read Less

The most important take away from my trip is to review your Sail & Sign statement carefully. If you have prepaid for spa treatments, you could get billed again. Your CHEERS doesn't work at the Carnival island of Half Moon Cay. The Cheers program is NOT worth the money. You will spend less if you just pay out of pocket. You can get bored over the course of 7 days. The pools and chairs are always full. The in-room television doesn't have ample movie selections. You honestly feel like you are eating all the time and the food isn't great. We spent most of our time in the casino (we broke even thank goodness), but the ventilation is horrible from the chain smoking that occurs. If your pockets aren't full when you leave, your lungs will be. And your clothes will reek badly. They do keep the boat spotless and they work super hard to cater to you and your surroundings. We stayed in a suite and it was awesome. It is roomy compared to the balcony rooms. The only issue that I had and this was my second attempt to love a cruise was that the bedding always smelled like dirty laundry. I even brought my own blanket and pillow cases, but they couldn't hide the smell. In summary, we went with family which was a big plus, but this trip proved that I will never be a cruiser with many under my belt. You either love them or hate them. There is no in between. Read Less

We had never been on a cruise before, but we're curious enough to give it a shot. So glad we did. We sailed out of Baltimore for the convenience factor. We live about 30 minutes north of Allentown, PA, so the drive wasn't bad at all. Cruise terminal was very easy to get to. Traffic flowed smoothly and all staff were VERY helpful. We breezed right through the security line, no waiting. We sat a bit until they were ready to let everyone board, but we were still in the serenity area on a clamshell with adult beverages in hand by 12:15. Our cabin was gorgeous. I'll admit, I was nervous. I read a lot of negative reviews about the conditions of cabins. Absolutely no complaints. There was a bit of rust on the balcony, but seeing as how it's a boat with a whole lot of exposure to salt water and weather, the rust was minimal. The staff were. All. Amazing. Japhett was our steward and was fantastic. It seemed as though he knew what we wanted before we did. Very attentive and really nice. We spent the bulk of our time on the Lido deck by the pool. Dr E was our cruise director and he was hilarious. With his "good morning" and "good evening" songs and everything in between, he kept us laughing all week long. Our favorite was the guess that 70s/80s song activity in the main atrium. He outdid himself. Huge shout out to all of the bartenders, but our favorites were Nebo and H at the Blue Iguana Tequila Bar. These guys are hilarious and super friendly. As for the negative reviews. I read a ton of these after I booked this cruise. Here's my 2 cents, and I've read other reviews saying the same thing: know what things are most important to you when you book your cruise. Don't book a Carnival cruise if all you're looking for is quiet and relaxation. We were incredibly relaxed when we came home, but there's a lot going on on this ship. If you're expecting super high end, maybe check out a different cruise line. This boat was exactly as it was advertised: family friendly and party-like atmosphere. In general, the negative reviews were extremely nit-picky. It's a vacation. You're on a cruise with 2,400 of your newest best friends. There's absolutely nothing worth getting all fired up about. Also, be nice to the staff. They live there. We're guests in their home. If you wouldn't do it in your own, don't do it there. (Yes, I'm talking to you, lady who dumped an entire plate of food in the buffet line and just walked away without so much as an apology to the crew member on the floor trying to pick everything up so no one would step on it. Also talking to the gentleman with the stellar personality who screamed at the attendant at the pizza station...I still haven't figured out what was so upsetting.) Sidenote: also know what you're looking for as far as entertainment. I read a ton of reviews about folks being wildly offended by the late night comedy shows. Here's the thing. On the daily newsletter, it says right on it that the late night comedy shows are rated R and only suitable for 18+. Further, before the show even started an announcement is made reminding everyone of such, and also suggests that if you're easily offended or even a little sensitive, you find your way out. The comedians were absolutely hysterical and don't deserve to be slammed for being totally offensive by folks who were well warned as to what they were getting into. Our cruise on the Carnival Pride has set off a total cruise addiction. We came home Sunday and booked our next cruise on Wednesday. Carnival is fantastic! Read Less

I chose this sailing for smaller ship size and ports. The service for the past few cruises has declined due to massive cutbacks in personnel. This effects the customer and turnover rates. This last sailing, I actually got a steward who verbally insulted me, made up the room only twice in one week, never brought the one item we asked for (ice), left our clothes at the laundry (we sent out 2 bags) for half our sailing. Leaving us dirty clothes to wear for half the week. Turnaround is supposed to be same day. We called down to laundry and were told they were ready same day but stew "forgot" to pick them up. Service in MDR - forgot what we ordered every single night. Only 4 at the table. MDR not busy. Cabin: toilet not flushing on arrival. Fridge DOA. Service in casino - more often than not - had to go to bar and get it myself. One guy tipped a waiter $100 bill just to make sure he would get service that night. Found out Carnival now only gives free vouchers for free cruise if you're in the top 5-10% of "whales" spending in casino. One guy I met spent 30,000 and didn't get one..he got free drinks in casino. That's it. So the little guy and the middle income people..unless you are one of the ever increasing few that gets incredibly lucky..u get nothing but maybe free alcohol. The rich will get the comps. Food was just ok overall. Embarkation was horrible. It was searing hot. A 2 plus hour wait in the heat without water (you're not allowed to have water in bags to get on this cruise line to go through scanners). People were dropping bc of heat..While Royal Caribbean stood outside handing out ice water to its customers..knowing it was too hot for them to be out there without some hydration. Shore excursions not booked through Carnival. I'm done with Carnival. Never ever again. Read Less

Reason we chose this cruise: It was in a day drive, low budget and fit into fall break for our teen. Embarkation and disembarkation was very smooth and efficient. Ship was old and dated and many of the areas on the ship had cosmetic issues - tiles off of walls, cracks and rust. After the second night in the dining room we successfully found a great service team that we stuck with for entire cruise. The last night after returning from dinner we entered the hallway to a terrible smell and crew members frantically trying to vacuum up the water that was about 4" in the hall. Many cabins were flooded and people could not get belongings. We were moved to 2 rooms as there were none that could accommodate 3. In room with my wife and teenager somebody early in the morning just walked into the room without knocking. Read Less
