Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Carnival Dream

My recent voyage aboard the Carnival Cruise Dream from April 6th to 14th was a rollercoaster of experiences, ranging from delightful surprises to disappointing letdowns. Let's start with the positives. Among the sea of mediocrity, two stars shone brightly. Dewa, our room attendant, embodied excellence in customer service. His attention to detail and friendly demeanor made our stay memorable. ...

At first, we were really disappointed with the Dream. Then, things kind of turned around a little during the final sea days. The good things: -- The ship and staterooms seemed very clean. -- The Alchemy Bar was a kick. Engaging, professional bartenders. Good drinks (although not cheap at $14 for a cocktail). -- The Bonsai Japanese restaurant was one of our favorites. The food and ...

This was my 35th cruise, but first ever NYE cruise. This cruise was myself, husband, daughter and her husband(this was his first cruise). Embarkment was fairly quick and easy. We were on this ship by 11:45am. Dropped off our luggage at our Spa Balcony cabin on deck 12 and headed to the Lido for lunch and a cocktail. Guy's Burger was delish as always. I didn't eat at the Lido buffet all ...

Nothing like formal night, asking for reserved wine and them losing it. Then issue not being resolved until after dessert. One would think losing a $10 bottle of wine you are charging nearly $50 for would be taken care of immediately. First response was will will give you a glass at no charge. Then waiting until after the meal seemed like vengeance while they lost what I paid for. Additionally, ...

Disappointment

We've been on many cruises, most on Carnival, but this was the worst cruise we've been on for many reasons. We paid a lot of money for a balcony room and were put on the lowest floor with a balcony that was always wet with standing water, rust, and at times had a terrible sewage odor. Our last day on the ship the sewage smell was in our room. There were not enough electrical outlets in the ...

Disappointed with the Dream

Cruise was for our anniversary. Lido deck is too crowed with deck chairs in front and sides of pool, which means when music is on you can’t get up and dance. The lido seems a little closed off, usually you can see the hot tubs and kids pool fun area above. During the movie nights, we had drunks screaming with bartenders egging on their rudeness. People had to tell the drunks to shut up, you know ...

It was okay

We were looking for a semi economic Thanksgiving trip to warm weather. We are driving distance from Galveston and the cruise fair was not a lot more than 5 plane tickets so we ended up taking our first cruise as a family. Overall the trip was okay. The first half day and full day at sea was very rough but we managed okay. At times some of the kids felt slightly nauseas and felt fine when we ...

Returned home 8 days ago and still waiting on credit for shore excursion cancelled due to the weather and booked through Carnival. Also still awaiting credit for overcharge when I booked and credit appeared on my statement. Cabin only made once each day, HA still offer twice. ALL room service charged for, HA still offers at NO charge. Booked a table for 2 months in advance for early dining, was ...

Overcrowded everywhere on ship

Let me start by saying the staff on the ship is very friendly and helpful. The ship public areas and the cabins were very clean. I am also aware that there were over 3000 guests onboard, but Carnival did very little to utilize the ships size and public space to make the atmosphere less like a day at a ballpark than a cruise. (Deck 5 aft on the outside deck is probably the best place to get a ...

This was as described. Mostly Americans from the south on board. Very casual. Despite dining room dress code, people in shorts, bathing suits, and baseball hats. Lots of drinking and people complaining about being cut off after 15 drinks per day. People standing in the pools all day drinking. Hardly a mask in sight except the staff. I was not one of the smart few wearing one and I brought ...
