This was my seventh cruise, and my second with Carnival. This is a "Fun Ship," and everything had "fun" in its name. If you are familiar with the fun size Halloween candy, you know that "fun" is really code for "cheap" or "bare minimum," which is the context of fun on this cruise. We only paid $78.61 per person per day (including taxes and tips) for a 4-day mid-week Los Angeles, Catalina, and ...

Worst vacation in 4 years

This was my 3rd cruise and by far the worst. I'd go as far to say that it was one of the worst vacations I've ever been on. First off, the cruise ship is severely out-dated. Second of all, the food was terrible. You can order as much as you'd like, but one serving is plenty. You won't want to go back for more. By day 3, I had sharp stomach pains that lasted for over 12 hours. The ship is much ...

Our family has taken numerous cruises on almost every cruise line over the past 12 years. After my father past away last August, my 81 year old mother still was hoping to enjoy cruising. Since my dad had been sick, she had not been cruising for 3 1/2 years, so my sister, mom and I decided to try a short, easy cruise to see how she would do. We live driving distance from Los Angeles and have been ...

We just came back from a 4 night cruise on the Carnival Paradise to Catalina and Ensenada. We've taken this cruise several times in the past and were pretty happy with it. But this particular cruise really disappointed us. The service, food, activies all went downhill since our last cruise about 4 years ago. First of all, the ship was in poor condition, needs a major renovation. Secondly, the ...

I had been on a 5 day cruise with Carnival before and absolutely LOVED the experience so I was looking forward to this 3-day to Baja for quite some time with my mother and two friends. The first thing we noted upon the ship was that hardly any of the staff was smiling or at all friendly for that matter. We greeted a few and either the smile was brief and somewhat annoyed or they just looked at us ...

What Happened to Carnival

My very first cruise, was the exact cruise, I just came back from. I was very disappointed to say the least. The service and food was sub-standard compared to our previous 3 cruises with Carnival. I was not expecting Carnival to be the quality that I have always experienced on Princess, but at least acceptable. Boarding went smooth and fairly quick. We met our cabin steward and other then ...

Carnival Paradise - not so much

Last minute decision to go on a quick 4 day cruise for our 17th anniversary. We booked only a week before and felt at the time we got a great deal. We had never been on a Carnival Cruise before and were used to a higher quality cruise experience. Stateroom - We upgraded to a suite with a balcony which was our first mistake. The room was nice but we were used to a big sliding glass door to ...

Carnival Paradise 3 night Baja 2/18/2011

I just returned yesterday from a three night cruise to the Baja on Carnival Paradise. First, to put this in perspective, I am certainly not a Carnival fan. I choose my cruises based on itinerary, timing and other factors. Therefore, I have cruised on 7 different cruise lines over the years. I am cruising four times in 2011 on four different cruise lines. This was my fourth ...

We cruise regularly with our children (12, 6) and were curious about Carnival having sailed on NCL and Disney exclusively. We chose this itinerary (Ensenada and Catalina) based on convenience and were aware that they weren't the most exciting of destinations. Hence, we weren't surprised to find that it is barely worthwhile disembarking at these locations. We did one excursion (a Carnival booked ...

We are not very experienced cruisers. All three times were short cruises. We just like to not have to drive for a few days of travel and actually spend a lot of time reading in our room and enjoying the rocking of the ship. I really have no complaints because we got what we paid for at about $300/person for a 4 day cruise. I just am giving it all the info so people who read this know what they're ...
