LONG review, but if you want the 'bad' and 'ugly' skip to the bottom.
Well, my wife and I FINALLY managed to take a cruise to Alaska! And the itinerary was perfect for us - 2 weeks and a round trip from Long Beach, CA. made it easy on us (we live just north of LA).
After 3 days at sea, we were glad to hit some really great ports. Our favorite was Icy Strait Point - WOW! What a GREAT ...
Chose this cruise because we didn't have to fly to get on ship to Alaska. The reason for the 3star review was the food. I mean broccoli every night and we like broccoli. No choices on menu. The chef made mud pie everyone at table ordered it was CAKE??????? I could go on but why. The excursions offer for Alaska were great. Good variety Choices... The entertainment was ok but I feel Carnival ...
The embarkation was actually painless...quick and easy. Of course it was head for the lido until our room was ready. Still can not understand why Carnival Corp. can not have a buffet set up in the dining room as well, on embarkation day. Would make sense and get the people in and out! Our room was ready on time and luggage arrived in a timely manner. Carnival still does not understand that ...
This was a first cruise for my wife and me. I consider myself "Not a Cruise Person" but my wife wanted to go on a cruise and with that I chose the venue - Alaska!
Stayed at the Sheraton Downtown by cashing in SPG points for two free nights. Had fun touring around Seattle for two days - Pike's Place Market, Waterfront, Crittenden Locks, Snoqualmie Falls, Kerry Park, the Space Needle and met some ...
Alaska was beautiful. We were blessed with great weather and plenty of wildlife. The ship was kept very clean and the crew was great. The room was comfortable.
The food, especially in the main diniing room was sub-par. I would have been better to stick with the deli at the lido deck. I don't expect that much from a tuna sandwhich. Order 2 starters , 2 main entree's etc at dinner as probably only ...
Dream to see Alaska wasn't the thrill I expected. Our room was great as we opted to get a balcony. I would have hated my room if it didn't have that feature. But if you are a a light sleeper don't stay on the 8th floor, lido deck is noisy 24-7, which is right above you.
Ship staff was great. Food was fair. Nothing over the top. Lots of lectures to try and get more money from you. Live shows were ...
First off I want to say that the steward and dining staff were fantastic. They were incredibly hard working. Our room was kept to the highest standards and the dining service was very attentive. Furthermore, the staff was friendly and welcoming. However, we were greatly disappointed by many aspects of the Carnival experience. It is clear that we were misled by the director, John. We were warned ...
Well, this was our 10th cruise with Carnival, and so we had certain realistic expectations. Sadly, these expectations were not met by a long shot. From the moment we boarded in Vancouver we noticed that something was definitely "off" about this ship, and that feeling never left us the entire voyage. Service was incredibly poor by Carnival standards. The ship had just arrived from Hawaii, and a ...
I really hate to write an unfavorable review, but our experience on Carnival wasn't great. Our family of 5, including daughter 23, daughter 21, and son 16, along with my 78yo mother, cruised Alaska on the Miracle form July 2-9. We had 3 extended balcony cabins in a row (the balconies were opened without problem once we asked). The cabins were small, a little shabby, with good built in storage ...
Getting to the Port:
We stayed in a suburb of Seattle for a few days before the cruise, so we rented a car from the Dollar Rent a Car downtown office (1900 Boren Ave, Seattle, 98101, 206-682-1316). When we returned the car, they drove us to the cruise pier free of charge. It took about 15 minutes to get to the pier from the car rental office on Boren Ave. Plan lots of extra time to get to the ...
