The Carnival Victory was a disappointment from the time we got on board. There were major mechanical problem. Four of the 6 hot tubs were not in working order, the food was mediocre at best and the service was terrible. You have to pay $20 extra for filet or lobster tail. so it is not really all inclusive. The ship was in dry dock for almost 3 weeks prior to our cruise, You would expect things to be in tip top shape. Many of the public rest rooms were out of service and the ones that were open were filthy. When I tried to talk to guest services regarding my concerns - I was told to call 1-800-Carnival when I got home!! The on board entertainment was good. Only bright spot on the cruise. Embarkation was a nightmare because the ship was not ready at the scheduled time. Even though the ship had an over haul it is still dated. Read Less

We were a group of 4 ladies. I have been on many cruises(18) and I have to say this was the worst cruise ever!. I have been on Carnival ships before and didn't have any major issues. This boat was rocking from day one. I think the only time it was calm was when we were at port (3 of the 4 stops) Another thing I want to mention is on other Cruise ships we were always well informed. We would know what the weather/temp is . Not this ship.Forget calling Guest services too. Many of the phone don't work around the ship. On this ship the Captain made few announcements mainly about latitude and degrees? Do these people know most passengers do not speak in nautical terms? The only part of the Entertainment that was enjoyable was the singer Caleb. He was awesome! The food on Conquest was horrible. The selection was lacking. Tasteless. Very repetitive. I thought..at leaset I can have pizza and burgers. How can pizza be horrible? Guy's burgers was the only good "meal". I had to alter the pizza by adding more sauce and cheese for any kind of flavor. The ship is very old. You can feel and see how badly this boat needs updating. Some areas around the elevators actually feel like the floor is about to give way. I always enjoyed using Carnival. I can tell you without a doubt that I would never waste my money on Carnival. Please...people I know Royal might be more. But its sooooooo worth spending that extra. Hope this helps someone Read Less

If you like noise, chaos and lines this is the cruise for you. Very disappointed in this huge over crowded ship. Noisy everyehere. Lines for everything. Two singers every night in atruim that were so loud it was difficult to communicate with guest services personnel or shore desk.literally had to holler to ask a question. Staff acknowledged and advised they would report once more to entertainment staff. You could not sit and enjoy the music and most chairs /sofas were empty in this area as likely no one could stand sitting there due to the piercing noise. . Serenity deck was fairly peaceful but difficult to get a spot. No place throughout ship for solace to go read a book unless you went on very off hours and sat in lido restaurant.. Unlikr Holland America which has the crow's nest where you can sit and look out.Our balcony was on 6 th floor port side which was just above the hot tub. So each time we went on the balcony we heard screaming folks in the large hot tub pool. Young and old till 9 pm. We always enjoy the balcony but spent little time on it due to the noise below. Our shower overflowed every day and every day they said they fixed it. We used all the towels to sop it up so proactively got where we just turned shower on and off while showering to avoid the overflow.. It seemed that chairs were always being dragged somewhere above or below our room.Gym adequate but of course crowded. Wait staff nice but very rushed. Food fair.folks imprperly dressed at every seating. Cabin steward very kind and sweet. I usually enjoy the singer/ dancers but this group was mediocre to say the least. Comedians each night were very good.and we looked forward to attending all their performances. Embarkation/ debarkation was a breeze. Read Less

I am platinum with Carnival and understand issues happen on cruises and have always loved Carnival but WILL NEVER GO ON THEIR BIG SHIPS AGAIN- HORIZON WILL BE JUST AS AWFUL AS VISTA SINCE IT IS IDENTICAL. I recently took to Twitter to share my poor experience with what I felt was a lack of staffing on board for food, drinks and some entertainment onboard the Carnival Vista due to the extremely long lines. The lines for taco’s took 45 minutes and no, I was not in the burrito line which would have been even longer. Guy’s hamburgers had over 1 hour wait and the buffet lines were 30 minutes and the air conditioning in those areas of the buffet were awful since Vista would not close the doors from the decks like they do on ALL their other ships. Since I was traveling with a child who just turned 4 years old, we use buffets since he clearly doesn’t enjoy sitting and waiting for food. Clearly, sitting and waiting to be served would have been better than trying to keep him in line. It was obvious there are staffing issues when tables aren’t cleaned in these areas and workers are trying to keep up with adding food to the buffets and can't. They didn't have enough workers making taco’s, sandwiches, etc. We tried the Italian area for lunch and were told to fill out a form, sit and wait. The same poor process was for the Mongolian grill. On all other Carnival ships, the lines move well since it is a stand, grab and move along to a clean table. This ship doesn’t follow efficiency but rather lazy, inefficient processes that double or even triple ones times. I feel the main goal was not feeding me as a guest but leading me to the pay areas for food that had NO lines and no one there. I ate at 3 of those places and they were very good but why shouldn’t wouldn't Carnival staff their free areas the same? Clearly the model is to move guests to pay. There are TOO many guests and not enough workers. It was also very disappointing to know sit down breakfast closed early 1 day and the other sea day no brunch was offered and all other ships brunch is offered on ALL sea days. They day breakfast closed early they said the workers needed a break. Not just food lines were awful but lines to do anything such as see a comedy show where the line went past the casino. In the casino you couldn’t even order a drink and hope to have it in under 30 minutes. One ordered and I gave up on one after 45 minutes. Clearly again as you can see there is a pattern where you have more guests on Vista and not enough staff. I discussed this briefly with Guest Relations at the desk when there for another reason and they said we focus on being a nice hotel? What? I thought that was odd and clearly they knew they were understaffed and couldn’t share that and blew me off. The ONLY positive on this trip was the kid's club as on all the ships was amazing. However, my child was hungry due to the waits of buffet lines. Also, I probably would have given Carnival more money in the Casino if you would have had proper bar service. We left to go drink in our room and watch a free movie and pick up our child from night owls regularly since we couldn't order drinks. I wrote to Carnival and they said sorry. I replied to their sorry and received no response. They didn't respond on Twitter. Many, many reviews on all sites show how understaffed this ship is. Only go on this ship if you want to wait in line for everything. If you don't want to wait in line, go on the other ships. Read Less

We stayed in the family harbor cabin which had 2 showers and access to a private lounge for family harbor guests. While the family harbor lounge could be nice, the ship did not have anywhere to place dirty dishes - so it was always a mess. Our cruise nightmare began when we had to wait three hours to embark on the ship when we arrived at our scheduled time. Apparently, Carnival was late arriving to port in Miami which began the spiral effect of waiting line hell - e.g. in the heat the cruise ship even ran out of water to give people sweating in line and the bathrooms had no toilet paper. Carnival tried to make up time to reach ports which created a high degree of motion on the ship - many passengers were sick or unable to sleep due to the extreme rocking motion. Next, we were told that the ship was unable to dock in Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos due to the weather. Carnival did not find an alternative port or try to compensate guests in any way - e.g. at least a free drink for each passenger for the inconvenience. Carnival customer service people need training in service recovery as they continued to quote Carnival terms and conditions stating that they did not need to do anything for passengers if the itinerary changed due to weather. However, guests that had been up for hours stated that Carnival did not try to dock at all. The food in the dining room was horrible and the service was so slow - the lobster on "formal" night was like rubber. Do not expect late night buffets or special food during your cruise on the Vista. At night, your only option outside of the dining room hours is 24 hour pizza. Unless you budget to eat at the specialty restaurants every night, you will have bad food. The room service options are also extremely limited on this cruise - so that does not become an option after a bad meal. The cruise director is great and does try to make the ship fun - but he does not have a lot to work with as the quality of the shows is pretty low. To compensate, he tries to make the shows more interactive by ending as a dance party in the Liquid Lounge. The other theme for this cruise is everything is an extra charge - from poolside fast serve restaurants (e.g. seafood shack) to the theaters. When you add up all the extra charges coupled with poor service and food, you will be much better off booking on another cruise line. Read Less

We went to an event we were promised a price for a couples massage when we went to the spa they would not honor that price even though we had a signed paper from the staff member who promised the price , they would not even attempt to work with us . The first night our room was not cleaned , the bunk bed was not even placed down for my son to be able to sleep , no ladder was placed on it luckly we had him sleep in my other daughters room , Very bad service all around i am requesting a refund . My husband and I surprised our 3 kids with this cruise. My cousin and her husband and 2 kids also took the cruise. This was their first cruise, as well as our own kids first cruise. It started out with leaving port 2 hours late as we were told they were waiting for people. We went to the elevators to our staterooms, and immediately were hit with the smell of sewage...the odor lasted the entire trip and on every level of the ship next to the room elevators. 2 of the 6 elevators did not work, causing guests to have to wait and upwards of 10 minutes to get on an elevator. When we entered our stateroom we noticed that our bathroom floor had been patched with a bright blue tape like material. No hot water to shower. The bathroom outlets did not work and the bathroom was not equipped with a hair dryer as most bathrooms are. I called and they sent a hair dryer to us though. Our first port to Nassau was uneventful...Our second port was carnivals own Half Moon Cay port...this port was beautiful. We had planned an excursion which we found out was cancelled upon getting on the Island. We were disappointed but due to the weather it was necessary and we were fine with hanging out on the beautiful beach....When we boarded the ship in the afternoon, the captain reported the weather in the Grand Turks (our next and final port) was a bit rough and overcast. We had a REALLy rough night..the waves were rocking boat pretty good. My cousin and her family all were Sea sick even after using motion patches and pills. Again, this happens to some...We got up the next morning and at 11am the captain came on and stated due to the weather and for he safety of the guest and crew they would not port at Grand Turks and there was no other viable ports so we would be have 2 days at sea. Of course we were disappointed...but what we couldn't understand was why would you risk your guests and crew to travel to an area you know the day before was poor weather. Why couldnt we have just stayed at Half Moon Cay..stayed and extra day there instead of 1000+ people being put at risk in the rough waters...We saw so many people fall and be sick. Again, I know the weather was not the fault of Carnival, but the poor planning and condition of the ship was an issue....The water in the pool had been tossed out so only about 3 foot of water remained on Thursday...they didn't refill it till Friday afternoon. The ship had little to do except drink and gamble. All of the kids activities/clubs either never opened the entire cruise or were not what was advertised...the water park for the young kids was actually turned off...so all of these people on a ship 1 small pool half empty, drinking..angry about being stuck for 2 days on rough water....it was a bad situation to say the least. Needless to say when we got into port in Miami to get off the ship,..It was a free for all...Everyone wanted off and the zone assignments for disembarkation went out the window....it was scary!!! I have cruised before and this cruise and ship was absolutely a nightmare...The ship was old, outdated, poorly maintained....the food was so so....a lot of the same food every day. The 1 show that was planned for the cruise was great. The Crew tried their best...I had 1 incident during debarkation during the caos...I looked at my husband and asked where do we go and a crew member yelled "OUT"!!! I called Carnival today to file a complaint and was told Thanks for the info....WHAT????? I will not use Carnival again...simply because of the lake of concern for our experience. My kids couldnt wait to get back to school...that should say it all....My cousin and her family will not cruise again....Very disappointed and discouraged..... Read Less

have been on 5 cruises this was 2nd time for the carnival and Im just so very disappointed in the whole experience, to begin with the lay out of this ship is terrible you have to go through a very smoky casino to get to dinner the ship is way to small for the amount of people. Not much to do. The main shows in liquid lounge where awful they need to change them they really can not sing. the food was the worst i've ever had although our waiters were great Wisnawa and Kermith and a few others but our table placement was bad we where next to a pole and every night 2-3 times during our meal 3 of us had to get up push our chairs in so people could get by with walkers and wheelchairs. Never have i had such bad food. some of the crew where also very rude which i have never experienced before . My sister was told I didn't ask you if you wanted a drink when she was approached by a waiter and said no thank you she thought he was going to ask her if she wanted a drink I was shocked by how he talked to her. Then we had teenage kids running up and down our hallway screaming at anytime between 1-4 in the morning we where awoken 7 of the 9 nights with this kind of behavior we did complain but nothing was done. Our room service tags where also removed by these kids We are not the only floor that had this problem my daughter and her family where on deck 7 we where on 8 and they had the same problem also talked to people on deck 6 that also had this problem. My sister who is 76 was almost completely knocked off her feet twice by 5-7 teenagers when we was walking around pool area by the same group of kids. they never even tried to apologize or even act respectful at all. Disembarkation was a complete joke didnt get off until 10.45. We had hired a driver to be there at 10. I thought that was plenty late enough. well he wouldn't wait so we had to try and find another ride which ended in us having to take 2 cabs at double the cost of our original driver.. We did however never have a hard time finding a chair around the pool at anytime. This cruise cost me almost the same as my last cruise on the Celebrity going on a 14 day trip. I would never recommend this ship to anyone. Save your money go on a Celebrity  Read Less

Appeared to be a good deal...but never again on this ship. The service was sloppy in the dining room and the quality of the food was often poor. Several nights we ordered food we didn't get; we would order coffee with dessert but it never arrived. Some nights there was no "main" entertainment with only games that a few could play on the theater stage. The pool areas were unsupervised and the children/teens were poorly behaved. They put on five life jackets at a time and jumped into the pools, splashing and bumping other guests. No staff intervened. Smoking happened on balconies of at least one room - smoke blew into our balcony. Lines at guest services were long with often only one clerk to assist people. While there were many activities offered during the day, most of them had a $$ beside them. Never again on the Carnival Pride. Read Less

Carnival Dream is supposed to be a large, fun-ship, but maybe due to its design doesn’t feel all that large. The water park was great! I had a lot of fun going down those slides, especially the drain pipe, which to me was the fastest. The serenity retreat was nice when you can find a lounger. The serenity area had a lot of wind to keep you cooled off, but not a lot of shade unless you can score a lounger with a canopy. Unfortunately, the ship itself is due for a dry-dock. It’s weathered and worn with cracked windows, broken shower door, non-working balcony light and lots of chipped, nicked and broken stuff. The décor is garish, out dated and should have been updated way before now. The Carnival iconic red Fun-ship funnel wasn’t even red anymore it was faded and weathered like the rest of the ship. I’ve never been a big Carnival fan and I hope to never vacation with them again given my overall experience, which is detailed below. - Embarkation/Debarkation Process: The embarkation process was great! We had priority boarding and it only took us about 30 minutes once we entered the pier terminal to board the ship. the rooms weren’t ready until 1:30 p.m., but we just waited in the Dream Atrium lounge. Plenty of waiters and waitresses were there taking drink orders and they had the drink of the day already on their trays. The drink of the day was strong, but a lady stated that they started out strong but by the end of the cruise they barely put any alcohol in them. I thought she was exaggerating, but, no, she was right. My drinks had less and less alcohol in them as the days went by and I only order one drink a day (in case you were thinking this was their way of cutting me off). But, as for embarkation, it was a very smooth process. Debarkation was utter chaos. There were some people who actually waited in the designated waiting areas and then the rest waited wherever, even in the hallways. There were lines of people everywhere amongst the people just waiting in the way. Once our debarkation zone number was called it was hard to find the two lines leading off of the ship. Once we were finally off the ship in the gangway, my mother, who’s in a motorized scooter herself had to move over to let those being pushed in wheel chairs by Carnival attendants by. We finally received assistance when one of the workers directed us to the elevators. (I thank her much!) Once we go down to where the luggage was my Mom waited on her scooter to the side while we gathered up all the luggage. One of the agents wanted to act like we were in the way and had to have my Mom, scooter and all the luggage moved further to the side instead of just getting us a porter. So, while she was messing around, I grabbed a porter to load our bags and get us on our way. The porter was great! He shepherded us through Customs, grabbed us a taxi, unloaded our luggage and had us on our way in no time. (I thank him for saving the day!) During debarkation, no one was directing, no one was leading, no one made it their priority to be helpful and make the process as clear and as easy as possible. This includes not only Carnival staff, but the Customs staff member who instead of being helpful, which would have cleared the area of people and luggage faster, decided that moving people/luggage a few inches over was the best approach. I’m sorry to include a Customs staff member in a bad review being a federal worker myself and part of the same Department, but I know I try to be as helpful as possible to our vendors and the public. I’ve even walked people through our processes over the phone! - Food/Restaurants: When we first got onboard we went to the Lido deck to eat at the buffet restaurant called The Gathering. The food was good that day and I had no problem finding something I wanted to eat. I got grilled fish, kidney beans, potato salad and a mixed broccoli medley. All of it was good. We changed our dinner choice to Any Time Dining, which was an easy process on the first day of the cruise. We did have to show a card everyday showing that our dinner choice was changed instead of Carnival staff just noting it in the computer system. We ate in the Crimson and at first the food was pretty good. I had beef brisket the first night and an oyster appetizer another night that were especially good. But, the meals decreased in flavor after that until everything tasted pretty bland in the Crimson dining room. None of the desserts were very good, not even the chocolate melting cake, which Carnival was famous for. (I remember ordering the chocolate melting cake almost every night on my previous Carnival cruise. Of course, I did that because the rest of the desserts were awful.) Due to having Any Time dining, when a lot of people want to eat dinner at the same time, the Carnival Dream has a beeper lights up, turn in your beeper, ensure all of your party is there and wait some more for them to get you a table. I don’t need to go out in the middle of the ocean for this. In short, food that was great could be found at the Seaside BBQ and Mongolian Wok, when they’re open. The Seaside BBQ was only open for lunch on sea days. The Mongolian Wok, located in The Gathering buffet was only open for lunch and the lines stretched all the way to the elevators sometimes. (They do need a smoke ventilation system for the Wok area though. I had to hold a napkin over my nose to be able to breathe without coughing. I wasn’t the only one.) None of the desserts onboard were very good and there wasn’t very many places to go eat. The burgers and fries at the Grill were good. The pizza at the Pizza Pirate was a little bland and they didn’t have a good selection of pizzas. The servers at the Pizza Pirate weren’t all that friendly either. I ate breakfast in the buffet everyday and for the most part it was pretty good. (I do wish they had turkey sausage and turkey bacon though. They had a lot of pig.) I brought my own Coffee Mate creamer for my daily coffee. - Ports: The ports of call were Montego Bay, Jamaica; Grand Cayman Islands and Cozumel, Mexico. Unfortunately, Montego Bay looked run down. I went to Doctor’s Cave Beach utilizing Carnival’s Hop On-Hop Off shuttle. The shuttle worked well and Doctor’s Cave Beach was nice. I had no problem getting lounge chairs and an umbrella. The music playing was nice and there was food available for purchase along with drinks. I went snorkeling using my own snorkel gear, but snorkel gear is available for rent there as well. Of course, I didn’t see anything because I was in the protected area close to shore. But, they had a guy selling glass bottom boat and snorkel tours as well on the beach. I also went swimming and afterwards ordered a drink that had the colors of the Jamaican flag in it; however, they did the same thing as on the ship and barely put any alcohol in it. I highly recommend experiencing Doctor’s Cave Beach in Montego Bay. In Grand Cayman, we went on the Amazing Turtle and Wildlife Adventure excursion and all I can say is Awesome! I held a baby sea turtle and snorkeled with them using my own snorkel gear in their habitat. I did have trouble finding the habitat, so hopefully they will add more tour guides to help people navigate the place. Also, we weren’t permitted to take our own pictures of me holding the baby turtle, which was rude. I bought a flash drive from them with the pictures on them anyway. But, I hate being nickel and dimed though and that is truly beneath this beautiful place. But, again, it was Awesome and Grand Cayman was beautiful! The tour bus driver even dropped people off at the beach who wanted to go after the excursion was done. In Cozumel, we went shopping. We especially wanted to go to Ron Jon’s. We went, but it was pricey and wasn’t anything like the one in Cocoa Beach, Florida. However, the one in Cocoa Beach is labeled as “one of a kind” and it is. If you're ever in Cocoa Beach definitely go to Ron Jon’s and skip the one in Cozumel. There were plenty of local shops with beautiful figurines, art work and jewelry. Needless to say, Cozumel is always gorgeous and you can’t help but dance to the music playing in each shop. (Just don’t break anything. You break it, you buy it.) Our shopping trip got rained out though, so it was back to the ship. After Cozumel, it was supposed to be another relaxing day at sea. Only breakfast was good, but the entertainment at dinner was great! We wanted to wrap up our vacation by purchasing pictures of our vacation. Normally, we’re able to get a group special to buy all of the prints from our various cabins at one flat fee because there are so many photos. We were informed by the Carnival photo staff that they no longer did this. They wouldn’t even give us a percentage off our photos ,which totaled over $1,000. Each cabin had to go through the photos, pick out what they really had to have and discard the rest. This was the icing on top of the already bad dessert. All they did was throw away the photos we refused to pay over $1,000 for. Ridiculous!! The only program they had was some stupid rewards program where you get free junk after every so many photos purchased. We didn’t want a bunch of junk. We wanted the photos. I already just finished taking bags of free stuff to Goodwill and Goodwill probably doesn’t want that stuff. They did throw in a free photo album that stated on it you get ten free 4x6 photos with it. But, they’re not ten of your photos. We were told they meant ten free photos of the ship. Who wants or needs ten free photos of the same ship (and they were just of the ship, not different areas in or on the ship, but ten of the same photos of the ship). This was the height of asinine and after debarkation culminated into the decision not to vacation with Carnival again. The wonderful Fun-ship Ads and cheaper pricing are just ploys to get you onboard to nickel and dime you the entire time. Spend some more money and take a real vacation on Royal Caribbean or Norwegian. Royal Caribbean is in a class all to itself and Norwegian is very good and definitely trying to compete with Royal. Norwegian’s O’Sheehan’s 24-hour restaurant is Awesome! Oh, I almost forgot the spa. I purchased an Elemis Body Sculpting Cellulite & Colon Therapy Spa service. At Nemacolin, I know this is not a cruise line, but cruise lines should consult with Nemacolin on the spa services they provide and how the spa is run in general, you get access to the spa amenities for the day of your spa service. No need to purchase access to the thermal suites separately. I didn’t get access to the thermal suites with my spa service on this ship. There was no fluffy white robe, no relaxation waiting area beforehand and no access to any other areas of the spa unless you purchase them separately, not very relaxing. The therapist was late. I had to talk to two different staff members explaining that my appointment was supposed to start soon and I hadn’t even been given the check-in questionnaire. There was a couple sitting beside me having the same problem. Granted, normally I don’t like the spas on ships. They’re always trying to sell you something. I think they should all contract with Hand & Stone Spa, make sure they have some great masseuses onboard and consult with Nemacolin on how the spa should run, but I digress. I did get all of my treatment time and then some. All I can say is I hope they start to provide an actual spa experience on these cruises with consistent quality. This is not just a Carnival problem. Don't waste your hard-earned money, it's not worth it. It was really expensive, much more so than advertised. These guys charged $3.75 for water....Water!!! I was told the food was so great, but it all fell short, other than fine dining, which was passable. 99/100 employees were fantastic, hard working people( who told us they made $50 a week). Everything I wanted to do was preceded by long lines, only to be extremely let down. Our cruise advisor lied to us, telling us we didn't book on spring break. Guess what? We did our honeymoon on spring break. It's advertised as 8 hours per port, but you're lucky to get 3. My wife and I just felt lied to and ripped off, to the point we'll never cruise again. I compared our cruise to Walmart on black Friday, with triple prices, that you can't escape. With the hefty upfront price, I assumed we were paid in full, and certain needs would be met, like water. There was no shortage of tourist traps while aboard. Heavily overpriced drinks were rapidly offered at every turn. The Photoshop charges $20 per print. I can get them for 49 cents at Walgreen's. That's not profiteering, it's blatant price gouging. The casino magically charged us extra, although we only gambled cash. The machine I did play on felt very rigged. The pointer would suddenly jump, when you got close to winning, and I kept my cash in pocket. The rooms were actually quite clean, as they push their foreign staff much harder than their American counterparts. There were 2 tiny swimming pools, which were massively overcrowded. The hot tubs were down more than they were full. I got into one, only to get right out from the funky smell. They are very strict about bringing water or alcohol on the boat, which puzzled me at first, but I saw the prices and had a light bulb moment. I'm not a rich person. We saved for this and were very excited to go. After going through customs at debarkation, I felt free. It must be what prisoners feel like when they serve their time and are freed. In summary, we won't be back.. Read Less

I will start off with the only positive about the Carnival Dream. They have on sea days a late breakfast in the tacky dining room from 8am-1pm. Do not go on this cruise if you do not smoke. Casino and night clubs are full on smoking but you can start to smell it 2 floors up from the casino. We had a shower curtain that sat in the sloppy soap scum in our shower because the drain never fully drained. Balcony's are too small. Drinks are really over priced and the drink packages have so many restrictions on them. Boat is overall ugly and tacky looking. You would never know this boat is only around 5 years old, very worn out already. paint chipping off the balcony. Pizza and other garbage laying in the hallways in the mornings after the drunks left it there. Room service menu looks good until you discover that you have to pay for the good stuff, they only offer the sandwiches for free. Buffet is really bad food. We went there the first night because they mixed up our dining time, so we were there around 6ish. And the buffet was closed . They had some cold spaghetti and buns we ate. There is so much more better cruise lines out there. I recommend Celebrity. It's just as cheap and they offer usually free alcohol with it....... Read Less

We cruised leaving Baltimore on January 17, 2016, returning February 7, 2016. We decided to give Carnival a chance after sailing with other cruise lines. I know that Carnival had a pretty bad reputation. But I thought that after all the years of Carnival’s hype, it would not be like it used to be years ago. As usual for Pride, they were 1 1/2 hours leaving Baltimore. We were supposed to leave at 4:30 but at 4:15 there were still at least a dozen pallets of food and even more carts of luggage waiting to be loaded. I watched the forklift drivers on shore sitting and waiting for people on the ship to get things unloaded. They weren't too happy either. Considering that Royal Caribbean had been in on Saturday, this was the 2nd day for them and a very, very long one at that. Yes, it's their job, but when you have one cruise line come in and get everything loaded on time and then the other one comes in and can't seem to get the ship loaded, I can see why they would be upset. Most staff and crew were excellent. Our cabin steward, Wilfredo and his assistant Gusti, were magnificent. Our cabin was always cleaned early and done right. You enter the ship in the lobby. What a small, dark and depressing area that is. And then to set the mood, there were violin players behind the bar. My first thought was – Titanic. That was scary. The entire cruise the ship was cold, very cold. We left from Baltimore when it was cold outside but I thought the interior of the ship would be warmer. But after getting into warmer weather, the Mermaid's Grille Lido Restaurant was still like a freezer. And it stayed that way the entire cruise. Any hot food you might have gotten got cold real quick. And speaking of food, what a lousy excuse for food. In the Mermaid's grill, you have one station that changes the food each day. Always the same thing, chicken either baked or in some kind of sauce, vegetables in some kind of sauce, fish that is questionable, beef in some kind of sauce. The one station does have a carving area where you can get whatever meat they have that night without any sauce. The other stations are the same thing day after day. You can get pizza (24hrs), a sandwich (the same sandwiches every day, no difference in the menu), a salad bar (some of the vegetables looked old and not very appetizing), meat and cheese station, Chopsticks Grill (get there early, they close by 2:30), or the Blue Iguana (tacos or burritos, that's it). Guys Burger Joint is open for lunch but closes at 6:00 PM. Guys was okay but the rest of the food offerings were definitely sub-par. If you eat there, don't get the chicken, no matter how it is cooked. Or should I say uncooked. Twice I got the chicken and twice it was red when I cut into it. I did take pictures of this. I am waiting to see what Carnival has to say about that. The desserts were lousy, cake that was frosted with or layered with a Crisco tasting substance. Even the cookies were bland. If we got dessert, it was ice cream from the machine. Of the two machines on board, only one had the ice cream. The other machine was broken the entire cruise. Breakfast was slimy scrambled eggs, unless you stood in line waiting for freshly made eggs, oatmeal that was nasty and so bland, dry waffles or pancakes, various breakfast meats and a smattering of cereal. Want bananas for cereal? Better get there early, if they have them at all. The fruit is either not ripe, hard and tasteless or looks like it had been frozen. Nasty either way. Our experience in the dining room was horrible. The first time we went, we got the lobster. I kid you not, it was about 5 inches long and the meat was about the size of a cigarette lighter. No one told us we should order several. And this was the entrée. Food was lukewarm when served and on another night we went there, my dinner was brought out to me at the same time that the other 3 at the table were getting their appetizers. I dare not send it back, as it would come out cold or too hard to eat. Twice was too many times for me. So I had to make do with what I could find upstairs. Most of the time I ate very little, which was fine with me. A cruise and a diet. Entertainment- nonexistent. The goober cruise director, you see very, very little of him. Of course if you are watching TV he is there all of the time. Very weird person whose main job seems to be to stroke his ego. I have seen better shows in a high school. No props, no theme to anything. The theater was always more empty than full. Entertainment on deck consisted of ‘balls in the bathing suit’ and ‘racing frogs’. One day they did have an ice carving. The swimming pools were always being drained and repaired. On a 3 week cruise, at least 7 days 1 of the 2 pools on the Lido deck were empty. After getting back on board from San Juan, the water in the pool was green with something floating on top of the water. When asked what was happening, the girl that was supposed to by mopping the deck said they were sanitizing it. No one in charge knew what was happening with it. After several guests said something, that was when the white uniforms came up to look at it. Then they just propped a foot on the edge of the pool and talked on their cell phones. When asked what was happening, we got a side glance, they turned around and never answered any of us. Some ports of call were okay, but others atrocious. 2 of them had CDC warnings about the Zika virus. Why would you take passengers somewhere that passengers could catch a very bad virus? At Domenica we docked where the container ships dock. If I had wanted to see the slums I would have gone to any inner city. At all 12 of the ports we stopped at, the first thing that hits you is people trying to push taxis or tours on you. In Antigua, there are even cops standing around to break up some of these people that won’t leave you alone and they are very aggressive, sometimes even scary. You spend most of your time in port telling people no, you do not want a taxi. We went back to the ship early because the smell of raw sewage got to us. Some ports are not as bad but you still have these people bugging you. Our transition from 1 cruise to the next in San Juan was horrible. No one on the ship knew what they were doing or saying and because of that, quite a few people almost didn’t make it back on the ship because of misinformation from Steve. Be sure you take any over the counter medications you may need, like cough syrup, cold medication, lip balm, etc. We went to the on board shop and bought a bottle of Dayquil, the only thing they had for a cold. We were shocked when the girl told us it was $18.00. That is ridiculous. This is the same sized bottle you would pay $10.00 for at CVS, Walgreens, etc. You get screwed over royally if you buy stuff like this on board. He wound up with bronchitis so we had to see the doctor. They charge you $150.00 for a consultation with the doctor, $65.00 with the nurse, medications extra. All total, our charge was $255.00. At least BCBS reimbursed us for it. Would I do it again? No way. My next cruise will be on Royal Caribbean. One step on their ships and you know you have moved up in the world. Read Less

This was our 9th Carnival Cruise and one of the worst. We find that the management of the ship leads the way and customer service was very poor. We avoid the main dining room as the food is generally poor and pay the extra for the Steakhouse which we are happy to do and did so 4 times. Cleanliness was an issue with hairs all over the shower when we checked in and they no longer serve Tanqueray Gin on Carnival, instead offering Hendricks, Bombay and Bulldog. The mini bar had drink taken and the bottles resealed and none of the glass was clean. The Steakhouse was excellent and Adrian in the Main Dining Room even made my wife a curry. There were very few highlights on a disappointing cruise. Please read the review on the cabin before booking an Aft Extended Balcony 8M on deck 7. They are all smaller than advertised. Read Less

Having been on at least at least 9-10 Carnival cruises and probably 20 or better I have experienced a lot. The good the bad and the best. Our "Suite" #7282 was nothing more than an overgrown Balcony cabin with extra closet space , a dressing room, a bath with a jetted tub and double sinks. Your bedroom and lounge area are all 1 room not the usual suite you would be accustomed to getting. Having spent in advance for the cheers program, $ 804.00, $158.00 for 3 Canape' trays, and a bottle of Sky with tonic package, I pre-paid my gratuities, I was well past an additional $1000.00 before I got on board. My pre- made reservations for the joke of a steakhouse were lost, but suddenly found after complaining about it. Meanwhile, the Steakhouse did have empty tables on both Christmas Eve and Christmas night. The entertainment was the worst by far. For your meal in the steakhouse which we always eat in was 1/2 the portion size it normally is. The food in the dining room hasn't really changed in 8-10 years and is still dreadful. By far the worst and last Carnival cruise we shall take. The only thing this ship has going for it is the cruise director, and our room steward Erickson. Never again. Read Less

I have been on many cruises, and this has to be the worst experience I've ever encountered! The ship's cleanliness and the staff's excitement were definitely lacking luster. Part of the cleanliness issue was not so much the staff's problem, but rather the obscene amount of unruly teens running around without supervision. The other cleanliness issue that directly is controlled by the staff is as follows: -tables on Lido all stayed dirty with staff walking by seeming oblivious to the mess -random bowls/plates left outside people's rooms for hours -many lights out in main theater -bedrooms not cleaned thoroughly The wait staff walking around sometimes were friendly and sometimes seemed like we were a bother to even deal with. Again, I will state that the fact that there were SO MANY teens unaccompanied by adults running around, making messes, splashing around in the hot tubs all day and night, defacing property, hitting every button in the elevator, 5 year olds ordering sodas at the bar, etc. that this made the trip even more enjoyable. BINGO was a joke because "money, money, money Martin" was horrible at what he does. He has no ability to draw in his crowd but rather make you irritated. Also, the shows left a lot to be desired. The dance moves were not that difficult, many of the singers were flat or WAY off key, and the song selection wasn't the best. But the special effects were great. The only redeeming qualities I would say were as follows: -First and foremost, Matt the cruise director was beyond amazing! Carnival, you better give the man a huge raise and do everything you can to keep him because he is by far the best cruise director I have encountered on any cruise line! -Second, I Made and Eli were amazing servers every night and really looked out for us. I cannot thank them enough for their hard work. -Third, Nat from Whales was wonderful! She really had a bright and bubbly personality that was welcoming. Thank you Nat -Fourth, The Guy's burgers were awesome! that really was a brilliant feature for this ship. Good move there Carnival. -And last, the strings were amazing! Every night we eagerly awaited the performance they put on for us. They sounded wonderful. Overall, Carnival lost a lot of respect from me and the other 6 passengers traveling with me. Even though we cruise every year, it might be a long time before we even think to use carnival as our vacation destination. They will really have to prove to me that there is something better than the low quality they gave us for the last week before I change my mind. -Brandon Read Less

I have been on many cruises. Amber Cove is not ready. There were only a few stores open and they had very little stock. This was my second cruise on the Victory. If this had been my first cruise, it would have been my last. Thankfully I have enjoyed many in between. My balcony room was pretty standard. The food was the worst on any cruise I have taken. Several people said they enjoyed the top 10 excursion. I took the sightseeing & shopping. It was so bad that after the second stop I took a taxi back to the port. Embarkation is great because I am platinum and get priority boarding. Debarkation was pretty much the same. The entertainment was ok, I expected more being on a bigger ship. But the customer service desk was the worst of all the cruise ships I have been on. My favorite port is New Orleans. This time I left from Miami. Read Less

I can no longer try to convince people that the food on Carnival ships is good. The food everywhere on this boat was terrible! I am usually not too particular when it comes to food, especially when on a ship, but this was inedible. They did not have a specialty restaurant or we would have eaten there every night! We booked a suite and although the cabin was very large, the upholstered furniture was filthy, the sheets were old and disgusting and the mattress uncomfortable (and after a day of drinking, etc. I can usually sleep anywhere). We booked an excursion that led us to believe we were going to have a private villa to ourselves but it was actually a shared private villa with p to 25 carnival guests. Very misleading but could be corrected with one word.....SHARED private villa. The only way I would go back on Carnival is on a brand new ship. Save yourself a lot of disappointment and do not book on the Victory! Read Less

We were unfortunate enough to be on the Carnival Pride during a hurricane. I know Carnival has no control over the weather but they do have control over how they treat their guests while on board and after. We were only able to get off the cruise for a few hours in Grand Turk and the other 2 ports were cancelled. They did not have many activities for the guests stuck on the boat other than spending money in the casino. We also had a lot of issues with staff being rude and unhelpful. Our ac in the room was not working well and it took 2 days for them to try to fix it and we ended up w a box fan in our room and a $20 credit. We also got room service one night and my daughter (7) spoiled chocolate milk. The staff proceded to tell us my daughter must be wrong because all there milk stays cold. When they finally came to the room and we showed them they apologized. It was just 7 days of rude staff. Carnival was gracious enough to give us 50% off this cruise and 50% off a future cruise. The problem is they will only give it to us in gift cards for Carnival since this is how we paid. My entire family (11 people) used gift cards to purchase the cruise in order to get money off fuel at home. If we would have known we would have paid cash for the cruise instead. My grandmother is in poor health and on a fixed income so she will be out the money. This was my husbands 11th cruise and my 4th and we couldn't believe how aweful it was, Read Less

Coming into this cruise, we had high hopes considering Carnival poured so much money into redoing the Destiny. Cabin-We had a cabin on the 6th floor balcony. The cabin steward seemed laid back and not too interested in cleaning our room properly. He barely came in the first night and in my parents cabin. It eneded up my parents had old BLOOD on their sheets and towels from the previous cruise that did not get changed. The housekeeping supervisor did not seem concerned when brought to his attention. We called carnival when we got back from the cruise and it didn't seem to phase them either. We were disappointed they left out refridgerators. Food-The food was pretty good. However, the reconstruction of the LIDO left something to be desired. we had to go up a 1/2 hour early before a meal just to get a decent table. The staff in the dining room was attentive. Overall, it seems Carnival cut out space from this ship to accomdate more passengers leaving spaces tight. We will never go on this ship again! Read Less

worst ship of the carnival line. we sailed twenty something times with carnival ships and every one was excellent. This ship is not up to par with the others except food and dining. steward threw out my wifes new sneakers the first day thinking they were left from previous cruisers. After the steward cleaned the room, dirty towels were left in the shower. No ice or chocolates left anymore. Balcony was dirty and we wrote our initials in the dust on the inside table. We won a painting at the park west show but we didn't order a frame so they never sent it. Crew getting off and on were not friendly and even yelling at some people coming aboard with one soda, while the crew was allowed all they wanted to bring on. Most of the time the beverage areas were empty and after 7, only one was operating on lido deck. Same was for the ice cream machines. Lido deck was always greasy and tables were not cleared fast as people were looking for seats to eat. If this was my first cruise with carnival, I would not use them anymore, but I know from lots of voyages with them on other ships, that it is just the conquest is not very good. We only went to 3 ports instead of 4 because of a storm and we were never compensated for the port charges. Also, instead of taking us to a clear area away from the storm, the ship stayed one day in front of it and floated around Nassau for 2 days which was disappointing. Read Less

I recently got off the Carnival Paradise and everything was not up to expectations or what you'll think it is. On every deck there was at least two broken elevators. On lido deck (10 top) there was a sink with a out of service sign and it worked properly. Our cabin E36 toliet didn't want to flush at times. You had to wait and press and then wait and press until it worked. When we first got there the pullout beds were both dirty. My luggage was all scratched when I got it back and my mom's had a hole that it never had before. The lights in our cabin flickered on and off. Everything is out of date and when we ask for a wake up call on the last day 08/27/15. They told us is in the computer and we never got the call. On deck 8 they try to get you to get off the boat and buy jewelry if you go to the Sophie Shopping Expert Show. She'll make you get your free stuff so you can buy a Tansanite bracelet for $5000 and tell you how cheap it is. The Michael Kors watches on the boat had a sign for 10% off on one the displays and the store manager doesn't give them to you. He'll blame it on someone else and got mad at us. They put old shows in the Normande Theater, and play the same one every night. We bought rum and the bottles when we open the box were on top of each other like they were thrown in the box. In the study/game room there games were all broken and old. As for the Elation we had the best service. Serviced by Win, Christopher, and Asep. They knew what we wanted and were very attentive to us. Kind and charming waiters. But what didn't make dinner complete was the forks always had old food on them as the dishwasher was not washing them right. But other than that my waiters were the best. On deck 9 there was the arcade that cost a $1.25 or more to play one game. And the arcade was the smallest I have ever seen. The clud O2 for 15-17 was mostly boring. They had no games to give importance to like the circle club. Other than Andre a nice guy who you can spend time with and he'll teach you how to dance too. In the casino, all you smell is tobacco. But before I got on I was told it was a smoke free cruise. Which clearly was a lie because it smelled mostly like tobacco. Even ones you get in the back entrance from lido deck 10. And then the photographer wants to make you take a picture but you say no thank you and they continue. The only show that was Interesting and funny was Alex Ortiz The Punchliner Comdiean. Who is very humble and is a recommend show. On Lido deck 10, they had 2 pools which were to tiny they all were full of people. Hot tubs were full we never had a chance to get in. The Paris Buffet was open for breakfast to lunch but closed until 11:30pm and they only have nasty pizza and soft serve ice cream to eat. The sliding doors don't open until you are really close and they take to long. The bar lady Kwee doesn't assist you if she doesn't want too. The goft course and everything was to tiny. Back on deck 7, I got hurt walking stairs because the elevators take to long they wanted to charge you for a bandage when your bleeding all over. We made it to Grand Cayman they limit the people of the boat. And at the end you rather stay on the boat because we took the best 10 tour and we went to about 6 places and one was the trash mil. On are way to Conzumel in the middle of the ocean 10 hours away from Conzumel and 8 hours away from Grand Cayman a man got intoxicated. And the captain told someone else to tell us the boat is going back to Grand Cayman. Everyone when downstairs to talk to the captain but he didn't dare to show his face as his excuse was he is driving the boat at 7 or 8 pm. He already turned the boat and the captain never showed up. We got to Grand Cayman hours before but the captain dropped of the Man and started to go around the island. He was going fast to Grand Cayman but he couldn't drop the guy off and go fast to Conzumel. No one wanted to go to Grand Cayman. They gave us $10.04 per person for Conzumel ( we had insurance and they closed there lines for carnival.) And everyone was disappointed. If you are not Vip diamond you aren't treated right. The cruise is not modern or redone as they say. On the last day the there was 3 guys to fix one light. And everything else is broken. Read Less
