I need to use a scooter (which was to be delivered to my room) to get around the ship. I reserved a wheelchair to get from the port to my room (which I thought!!). Well, they took me to the lobby which was on the 3rd deck. My room was on the 8th deck. I had to walk to get to my room (which I was not happy about). I asked if we could take the wheelchair to our room and then return it, and was told "NO". When I saw the pools, I was shocked. They were very small for the amount of people on board and there were not enough chairs to accomodate us. Our first port was to be Half Moon Cay (which we were to be tendered). We get there, see the tenders waiting for us and then were informed that we couldn't go due to the swells in the seas. So we had to stay onboard on Monday. Activities were not as I thought they would keep us busy. Tuesday was an at sea day. Wednesday we were at Grand Turk. We were informed that we would not be going to Amber Cove either as the dock was underwater. We would be going to Nassau on Friday. This was a very disappointing cruise. Now to debarkation - I called for a wheelchair to take me from the room down to the port. I was told "go to deck 3 - aft". Well we walked there and were told we were on the wrong side of the ship, so we had to get to deck 3 - forward. Again, I had to walk. By this time, I was in so much pain that I had to take a pain pill,. I would NOT recommend this ship to anyone!!! Read Less

We chose this date to be part of the USA inaugural sailing of the Vista. Unfortunately there was nothing special about the ship or activities. Our stateroom was exactly like every other stateroom on Carnival's ships-- very basic. The entire ship had no bling or pizzazz. The atrium was plain. The theater is the worst of any cruise ship we have been on. There are rows of chairs set up in between each permanent row. The shows themselves were dull; only 2 of the 11 shows had full musical production. We resorted to the excellent Punchliners Comedy Club whenever we could get in. We met many other frequent cruisers, as we are. Everyone we met was disappointed, and some had booked 2 years earlier for the chance to be passengers on a new ship. We were very limited in the cabin selection as we booked in July and so only 2 cabins were left to choose from. On a positive note, the food and service were excellent. The specialty restaurants were awesome. There is an iMax theater is on board. Sorry there was not more excitement offered. Read Less

We are seasoned Carnival Platinum VIP's. We recently cruised on the Carnival Vista. Overall it was good. We found the poor ratings of main dinning were not true. We had the late seating. The service was fine and the food was great.. The food on buffet were not so good and there was no variety. Waiting line for dinning and show were not supervised and there were a few alteration among the passengers. The main show and comedy seat was a disaster. They use the Liquid Lounge for main shows and use chairs instead of stadium style seating. Passengers would move chairs and make it impossible to see. Many seats were blocked by passengers moving chairs and could not be used. The comedy show waiting line was worst. Sometimes waiting for over half hour and not getting in. Again many loose chairs not usable do to passengers blocking them. They increased the number of guest and only allowed 21 people in pool at a time. Read Less

We love doing the Halloween cruises when possible. This was our 3rd Halloween cruise. We always dress up and join in the fun! We were on Deck 8 aft, which is our favorite spots. It was our 1st time on the Glory and we liked the ship. The service and food in the MDR was great. Room service was always a little slow. We liked most of the shows and loved the comedy club. Our room steward was really good. Our Cruise Critic Meet and Mingle was completely forgotten by Carnival, Some in our group went and complain about it. They made an announcement at 250, for the 300 meeting they scheduled at the last minute. We had no bar staff and very few people that showed up, andwe had over 130 signed up.It was supposed to be scheduled and put in the fun times. We loved Half Moon Cay, the sand is the softest I have ever been on. In San Juan we just rode the trolley and went to 1 of the forts we missed llast time. At Grand Turk we went to Jacks Shack. In St.Thomas we did an island tour. Read Less

My husband and I surprised our 3 kids with this cruise. My cousin and her husband and 2 kids also took the cruise. This was their first cruise, as well as our own kids first cruise. It started out with leaving port 2 hours late as we were told they were waiting for people. We went to the elevators to our staterooms, and immediately were hit with the smell of sewage...the odor lasted the entire trip and on every level of the ship next to the room elevators. 2 of the 6 elevators did not work, causing guests to have to wait and upwards of 10 minutes to get on an elevator. When we entered our stateroom we noticed that our bathroom floor had been patched with a bright blue tape like material. No hot water to shower. The bathroom outlets did not work and the bathroom was not equipped with a hair dryer as most bathrooms are. I called and they sent a hair dryer to us though. Our first port to Nassau was uneventful...Our second port was carnivals own Half Moon Cay port...this port was beautiful. We had planned an excursion which we found out was cancelled upon getting on the Island. We were disappointed but due to the weather it was necessary and we were fine with hanging out on the beautiful beach....When we boarded the ship in the afternoon, the captain reported the weather in the Grand Turks (our next and final port) was a bit rough and overcast. We had a REALLy rough night..the waves were rocking boat pretty good. My cousin and her family all were Sea sick even after using motion patches and pills. Again, this happens to some...We got up the next morning and at 11am the captain came on and stated due to the weather and for he safety of the guest and crew they would not port at Grand Turks and there was no other viable ports so we would be have 2 days at sea. Of course we were disappointed...but what we couldn't understand was why would you risk your guests and crew to travel to an area you know the day before was poor weather. Why couldnt we have just stayed at Half Moon Cay..stayed and extra day there instead of 1000+ people being put at risk in the rough waters...We saw so many people fall and be sick. Again, I know the weather was not the fault of Carnival, but the poor planning and condition of the ship was an issue....The water in the pool had been tossed out so only about 3 foot of water remained on Thursday...they didn't refill it till Friday afternoon. The ship had little to do except drink and gamble. All of the kids activities/clubs either never opened the entire cruise or were not what was advertised...the water park for the young kids was actually turned off...so all of these people on a ship 1 small pool half empty, drinking..angry about being stuck for 2 days on rough water....it was a bad situation to say the least. Needless to say when we got into port in Miami to get off the ship,..It was a free for all...Everyone wanted off and the zone assignments for disembarkation went out the window....it was scary!!! I have cruised before and this cruise and ship was absolutely a nightmare...The ship was old, outdated, poorly maintained....the food was so so....a lot of the same food every day. The 1 show that was planned for the cruise was great. The Crew tried their best...I had 1 incident during debarkation during the caos...I looked at my husband and asked where do we go and a crew member yelled "OUT"!!! I called Carnival today to file a complaint and was told Thanks for the info....WHAT????? I will not use Carnival again...simply because of the lake of concern for our experience. My kids couldnt wait to get back to school...that should say it all....My cousin and her family will not cruise again....Very disappointed and discouraged..... Read Less

My husband and I booked this cruise as a getaway for just the two of us away from our 4 teenage children. We are platinum members but have only departed from Port Canaveral once before. It was very easy to get to the port and the parking was convenient with minimal walking. The boarding area was the usual cattle call but it moved along quickly. From the time we entered the building until the time we were on the ship was less than an hour. I am a firm believer that you make your own fun. We take everything with a grain of salt. Our fellow passengers are not the highest class of people and some are downright rude, but we have soooo much fun people watching! We also met some of the nicest down to earth people too. Our cabin was a typical Carnival cabin. It was slightly worn, but very clean. Nothing special but nothing awful either. We saw our room steward at least twice everyday. He addressed us by name and was always friendly and helpful. We weren't very demanding though. I got the unlimited soft drink package and I was always served quickly and politely at every bar I went to. The only bar I had a huge wait was the casino bar around 11pm when it was packed with people. The lido buffet food was good and so was the dining room. I noticed other people posted that the temperature of the food was only lukewarm but I didn't notice a temperature problem with any of my food. If something was too cold, I would have noticed. The food was seasoned nicely also. I have no idea what kind of connoisseurs are judging this food or what they are cooking at home to be so incredibly picky, but we thought the food was outstanding considering they are cooking for so many individuals. The dining room staff is stretched very thin. Too many table and people and not enough waiters. This is not these poor people's fault. They would serve better if they were on rollerskates! We simply enjoyed the conversation with the people seated near us and patiently waited. Someone has to be first served and someone has to be last served. I never encountered a single rude employee not on just this ship but the 12 other Carnival Cruises I have been on. There is something going on in the main show room every night. I believe 3-4 nights of our cruise were actual singing/dancing Broadway type shows. The casino was smoky but it was no more smoky than a bowling alley or any other casino on land. I enjoyed the ports of call but I am not going to rate them because they have nothing to do with the actual cruise ship. We arrived and departed on time at all ports. All in all, this was a very nice getaway for a budget minded family, couple, or single person that has a sense of humor and patience for people from all walks of life. Read Less

Boarding was well organised and simple There was lunch available whilst we waited for our cabin to be available The cabin has a double bed – it was a decent size Air con that you can alter in the cabin, beach and bath towels provided Shower en suite, liquid shower gel and hair shampoo, no hair conditioner, a small bar of hand soap There is not an automatic availability of a hair-drier, if your statesman has a spare one you can have one if he doesn't you can't! The room safe is locked with a card with a magnetic strip This doesn't have to be a credit card. Loyalty card would do You need a lanyard holder to clip your sail and sign card onto this acts as your payment/ID card I bought the bottomless bubbles package about $7 a day, For unlimited soft drinks, you have to buy it for the week of the cruise, for me it was worth it They also do a wine package, this works out a bit cheaper for wine in the evenings Loads of food, so many different options available Mongolian wok was very tasty When you are organising trips off the island be aware that the locals know the prices that the ship charges and price themselves accordingly, so you have to haggle a bit to get the prices down Never pay until you are back to the ship Make sure you take something warm to wear in the evenings as inside the boat it is quite cool particularly in the evenings. There were 2 elegant nights on the ship so a nice dress and shirt and trousers for the guys The white night was in the nightclub so not mandatory or really needed Breakfast could be eaten buffet style in the lido restaurant you could sit inside or outside or served in the imagination restaurant inside Sukesh is a table magician He is absolutely amazing, he is gentle and fantastic with his tricks you have to make sure you see him whilst on the cruise There was a welcome aboard show , the day before we left completely focussed on the people who embarked at Puerto Rico The people who boarded at Barbados did not get a show like it when they boarded Comedians were very funny if you understand American humour Medical centre I popped down to see the facilities, and had a chat to the staff - it was very interesting and reassuring They can do all things a normal ER can do, plus minor surgery Spa on the ship This was disappointing On the first day we went for the tour and was told it wasn't happening We went for a seminar on detoxification this was very interesting, but whilst we were waiting we listened to the conversations happening at the reception desk - a guest was being told they couldn't help as no one was on duty who spoke Spanish- poor I felt We went to listen to a seminar about pain relief and we were told it wasn't happening because they were too busy So what do I think about the spa? A little elitist and not interested in anyone if they were not spending money This I find judgemental and disappointing I don't spend my money when I feel that someone thinks I am not worth bothering about Read Less

I was rewarded with a balcony room for my family of 4 from my company for my hard work the year before. We loved how accommodating Dream was in getting us all chances to hang out as a group. With 4 ppl in a cabin I highly recommend a balcony. It's like having a waiting room when we want to get ready. Order room service for breakfast and set it up on the balcony! We also brought a shoe caddy and hung it on the back of the bathroom door to keep the bathroom clean and organized. The dining staff in the main hall was so entertaining! They even helped us get up on the tables to dance one night. Where else can you do that? My daughter always enjoys tea times. Getting to be a little fancy and try some new treats. Choose this cruise because of the port s because we have never been to any of them, Being usually a Royal Caribbean cruiser I wanted to try something different. Flew from Indiana into Lauderdale and stayed the night at Ramada Oakland Park because of the great price. The transportation to the hotel was $10 but because they could not find us we were left to hail a cab there that cost us $40!! So much for the great room price! Hotel was clean and the outdoor pool and bar was beautiful. The next day they waived the $10 fee to the port because of the screw up. Had a boarding time of 11am and arrived about 12:30. Thank God we did because the line outside was tremendous! We were escorted to the front of the line which still was long and took forever, This was the worse embarkation I have ever experienced!! First was half moon cay which the ship had to skip because of the swells. That was disappointing, Our room was a balcony on Lido deck 9281, LOVED it! So close to everything and never heard any noise at all. Was so easy to go get breakfast and take it to the room to enjoy on the balcony. Our room steward was top notch and always kept our ice bucket full. I purchased the unlimited soda card but shouldnt have. They will not give you a can of soda! Only a cup with straw and ice. Next time I will know to carry on soda. I was told they are not allowed to. The room was clean and neat and well taken care of. My disappointment was in both ports Amber Cove and Grand Turk. The huge Carnival stores at each port were so fake to the island..It was like a giant outdoor mall and ruined the natural beauty of the islands. I imagine any natives there had to pay Carnival a hefty price to sell their wares there and that turned me off.I wont be back. Luckily at Grand Turk we reserved the poolside cabana for 4 of us . It was so hot out it was great to get away in the airconditioning and also have a phone to order drinks and food. We got the cabana closest to the beach so we could enjoy snorkeling. Snorkeled up near the ship and saw quite a bit of sea life. really enjoyed that. At Amber Cove again was the giant concrete mall like amusement park built by Carnival. Cannot wait to go back to St Martin or St Thomas and see a real island! We took the Coconut Cove beach break and enjoyed it. The ride there was long but got to see the real country even though it was so poor, at least it was real!! The surf was quite rough but the hurricane had just passed through so I imagine thats why. The guys working there were wonderful. Saw them interact with a group of girls taking them snorkeling and were so accomodating to everyone. Hda a few cocktails at the outside bar and all in all had fun. Food on the ship was ok. Typical ship food except Guys burgers was great. Im not a big burger person but it was so much better than any of the other offerings we ate them a LOT! I must say the entertainment shows were terrible! I could not believe it. The Motown show first of all had not one black singer and everyone was off key, Kind of like a grammer school choir singing motown ..we left. Tried the rock and roll show and I thought Prince was turning over in his grave the way they were ruining his misic..again we left. Maybe we are used to Royals shows and this is how Carnivals is?? I dont know. The band in the Atrium every night was OUTSTANDING! They should have been the show. We spent many nights there before and after dinner. Wish I could remember their name . Thats about it. We will not visit those islands again and am looking now to return to St Martin or St Thomas for some good snorkeling Read Less

DJ Sarah B was the absolute best! She should def be considered for CD. She made our 8 days so memorable and we will def look for her when we cruise again! She always knew us by name and by far the best DJ we have ever had the pleasure of being on board with! The food was sub par but thats not really the reason we cruise. Embarkation and Debark was by far the easiest in 6 cruises that we have ever experienced! The ports were amazing! St Kitts is now my new favorite! My only complaint was our cabin was super hot. They tried working on it but it did not help so we didnt stay i there much. Why stay in the cabin when you have so much more to do!! Read Less

We planned this cruise for a fall break. Little did we know that "Matthew" had other plans! Kudos to Carnival for getting the ship out and to a different port. Original ports were Nassau, private island and Freeport. Cozumel was chosen instead. Turns out, it was great. I did scuba in Cozumel with Sand Dollar. The dives were incredible, and the prices was very reasonable. The crew did an incredible job with the diversion and very great attitudes with two extra days at sea as we had to wait for Charleston to open for two days before we could port. This is NOT a mega cruise ship. We prefer this size as things are closer to where you are (less walking) and the crowds are not "mega." The port is close to our home and the prices are always great. Our biggest concern with Carnival several years ago was the food. That has significantly improved. We have also done the "Chefs Table" for the last couple of cruises, and the chef, his staff and the food was fantastic! A real experience! Casino is small but staff is friendly. In face, Carnival has trained its folks to remember your name after they meet you. If you're looking for glitz and glamour, this ain't it. but if you want a "fun" cruise that is a good value this is it! Read Less

Best cruise ever! My husband and I (yup! just us this time - all kids in college - no break for them in October) were on the ill-fated Ecstasy out of Charleston and into the whirlwind of Matthew. Carnival had to make some changes. First change - Saturday night, prior to Sunday sailing, Carnival sent an email that our Bahamas cruise (Half Moon Cay, Nassau, Freeport) would be a trip to Cozumel. Yes, I was a little disappointed not to be going to the Bahamas as this was to be our first time, but that bit of disappointment was way overshadowed by my absolute glee at extra sea days. I just love sea days. I cruise to relax and what better way to relax than to find a spot on a big ship to be waited on by most gracious crew. Not only that, but Carnival offered $50 credit per person and 25% off the next cruise as compensation for the change, not to mention a refund of port fees. Hah! I should be compensating Carnival for the extra sea days. AND the email said they'd be sailing an hour early, which pushed embarkation up an hour. Woo-hoo! Extra sea days AND an hour tacked onto my cruise. So we drove down to Charleston and got a very good rate for the night at the Days Inn right at the end of the bridge in Mt. Pleasant and left our car there for free and ubered to the port on Sunday morning. We had the earliest staggered embarkation time and there was some confusion because of the hour early business, but once things started rolling embarkation was a breeze. Enjoyed the boat so much. Every morning I walked a few miles on the jogging track. Every morning saw the same fellow passengers; we developed a bit of a cameraderie as the week went on. Since it takes 11 laps to complete a mile, you'd think it would get pretty tedious walking around and around, but not at all. As you're moving through the ocean the sky changes constantly, the water color changes, you see the occasional bird. The best is the clouds and sun playing peek-a-boo first thing in the morning, And I saw too many rainbows to count, at least one that arched all the way across the sky. Morning exercise followed by a shower and breakfast with hubby. We enjoyed both the sea day brunch and the lido breakfast. I have no complaints about the food. My husband is from India and so he drinks his tea in a particular way, with a lot of hot milk and sugar and a little seasoning. When he couldn't get it in the dining room I reminded him that the chefs are Indian and he could probably get his special tea if he requested it. Sure enough, all he had to do was ask ahead of time and they had it for him every morning. Lunch was usually on the lido deck. I tried the wok, a turkey sandwich from the deli, a veggie burger from the poolside grill. All good, as was the salad bar. We always ate dinner in the dining room. We had anytime dining and the service was good. We especially enjoyed a waiter named Milos. I think the best menu items were the soups. We had excellent mushroom soup, butternut squash soup, chicken noodle soup. We also managed a few snacks during the day. Pizza really hit the spot as did the chips and salsa from the sea side grill. Every night late, like 11:30 - midnight, they had snacks at the lido buffet, like sandwiches and cookies, so every night I had a bedtime snack of cookies and frozen yogurt. And seriously, everything was good. I don't think I've ever had such good cookies on a cruise. I was glad to have extra sea days so I could do all the things I wanted to do. My husband and I spent a lot of time on the serenity deck, lido deck and the seating above the serenity deck. We read, chatted with other passengers, napped, soaked in the serenity hot tubs. We watched the sun set. We saw dolphins off the serenity deck! After dinner and before the shows we strolled around the decks and were awestruck by the stars! We enjoyed the evening entertainment, jugglers, the production shows, comedians. We went to the welcome aboard show on the first night and the CD Benjamin did a great job by leading a tour of all the late night venues on the promenade deck, I had pretty good luck in the casino. The casino host on the Ecstasy is very active, having a lot of drawings and activities. Earlier in the day when the lido pool wasn't too crowded I actually was able to take a few swims. My husband tried his luck and skill at all the corn hole competitions. There were hula hoop and hole in one contests as well. I did a little line dancing during sail away and other deck parties. See why I need lots of sea days? There's just so much to do. And I'm sure I've forgotten something. In Cozumel we got off the boat at a leisurely time and walked around a bit; actually we took a long walk and it was very hot, so it was quite a happy thing to be back on the ship where we knew we'd be comfortable and well-fed. The second change! The captain announced that we'd be staying over-night in Cozumel (still trying to keep away from Matthew) and that would mean adding an extra day to the cruise! Yippee!! The second day in Cozumel we went snorkeling at Sky Reef. It was ok snorkeling but good because they had a little pier so you could get right into the water without dealing with rocks. We found another couple to split the cabfare with us so it only cost $15 round trip and there's a nice little beach there. So another sea day and the bonus sea day - ahh- I'm just loving this relaxation. AND then the third change. Matthew blew into Charleston and the port is closed so we have to have one more sea day!!! Our 6 day cruise turned into an 8 day cruise and the transition was seamless. The restaurant crew, the bar staff, the cabin stewards, the entertainment people, carried on their jobs as if they knew all along that this was an 8 day cruise. No one missed a beat and I loved every minute of it. Read Less

I booked this cruise for me and my lady friend through Travels and Tours aboard MCAS, Cherry Point, NC. Given that it was not known to us until we boarded the ship the destination had been changed from Bahamas to Cozumel, Mexicio due to Hurricane Matthew, I probably would have cancelled and rebooked for later date. But like all other passengers and crew we made the best of a bad time. The transit to Cozumel was good and uneventful except for the fine facilities on board the ship the fact that the Cruise Director, Benjamin, worked around the clock to keep us entertained. And entertain us he did. He, himself, is a multi-talented individual and the onboard Fun Squad went out of their way to ensure we were entertained. The fact they flew an entertainer in to board for transit back to Charleston showed commitment to "keeping the customers happy". The Food Service Division was superb as was the Housekeeping Division. Mr. Mirza, Miss Puspa, and Mr.Joko of the Waitstaff were a joy to watch as the worked in unison to ensure hot food was served hot, cold food served cold and glasses were never empty be it wine, soda or water. Mr. Wayan, ou Steward, was polite and cheerful, went out of his way to ensure for our comfort and well being and, for sure, made sure we had clean linen and towels all the time. If you want a negative about the cruise then you got one coming. With a Hurricane keeping us from out destination and more importantly our return port, why was not there and television from Charleston beamed aboard our ship. I like all the other embarked passengers (and crew) wanted to know what was happening in Charleston and in particular motor vehicles. Miami, Miami, MIami is all we got. Read Less

The cruise was a nice one. Getting on the ship was easy and getting off the ship. The cruise director was wonderful. My problem was in our cabin 6365 it was just about the band playing in the casino. We go to bed at around 11 so that didn't work to well. Also the music shows were so loud several of us had to put a finger in ear. We three females taking a trip together. We traveled to Grand Turk, Dominica Republic, Bonaire and Aruba. In Bonaire we took a tour from one of the people out on the deck. We rode in and open air van. He spoke English so was able to ask questions and enjoy it. In Aruba we hired a taxi. Our driver was named Elvis and was great. He also spoke English. In LaRomana, we caught a taxi to visit the caves and Altos De Chavon. He did not speak much English but we did ok. For 100.00 for all three of us it was a nice trip and cheaper than Carnival offers. We allowed our travel agent to choose the cruise following guidelines we had given her. I am handicapped and on Oxygen so we had many special needs and the staff met those quite well. The ship (mostly the cabins) are very tired. We took a Carnival 11 years ago and the carpet and décor in the cabins are the same now as then just that much more worn. The area I was most disappointed with was the dining. There were no specialty restaurants aboard, and the dining room is only open for lunch if we were not in port. The dinner menu's were very uninspired, meatloaf one night, brisket another. Quite disappointing. I will say when I commented to our waiter about this. He apparently told the dining room supervisor who presented me with chocolate dipped strawberries the following evening. We did order the "off the menu" steaks (extra) which were excellent and one night chateaubriand was on the regular menu. I asked about lamb chops and they said "oh no you had to take a 6 night cruise for lamb" ( ours was only a 5 night). Now for the good parts, the staff was absolutely the best. The main areas were beautiful, Art Deco in style, and very comfortable. They had violinists in the main atrium every night, the piano bar was great, excellent photographers (I always take horrible pictures and they actually did a great job and we bought them all BIG BUCKS but worth it.) The food on the Lido deck was always quite tasty, and because I'm on a scooter there were always people willing to assist me. Will we travel on this ship again, probably not, but would not hesitate to recommend it knowing these limitations. Read Less
