I booked with carnival before food was so good. I ate so much! I thought they was going to have to roll me of the ship. I had a wonderful experience on the freedom. I just returned from an 8 day cruise on the magic. The only exciting thing they had to do was bingo. They had bingo everyday. If it was bingo it was something else concerning the casino. They was pushing drinks. If you declined they just wouldn't stop hounding. However, my housekeeper was excellent. All the people i met on the ship was very disappointed as well. It was a cruise specifically for elderly or gamblers. I was very disappointed. I been itching to go on this cruise and it was whack. I'm going to give carnival a break and try royal caribbean. My cruise was from september 28,2019- october 6,2019.thye guys pig & anchor was hidden and not on the food itinerary all. Don't try the seafood shack the lobster rolls are horrible. Read Less

We typically go on 2 to 3 cruises a year. Normally, we use Norwegian and Royal Caribbean. We chose Carnival this cruise because we went with a group of 6 friends. The embarkation and entertainment were the only things on our cruise that was not a disappointment. We bought the premium drink package which is a terrible RIP off! One ounce liquor servings only. The bartenders were very slow, oftentimes rude and not willing to make anything but their standard limited menu drinks. I asked for a Sammy Sosa drink. The bartender became indignant and refused to make the drink. I asked why. He replied it had too much liquor in it and that wasn't allowed. I said it only has two liquors in it. I showed him on his drink card a rum punch Carnival was offering that had 3 liquors in it. Then I showed him a drink of the day Carnival was offering called an MF er that had 6 liquors in it. He then proceeded to tell me Carnival only serves or makes drinks that are on the drink menu. I pointed out that a multitude of drinks they were serving were not listed! Such as, seven & seven, gin & tonic, screw drivers, etc. I asked for a Jameson neat , the bartender served it in a 1 once shot glass. I asked for 2 of them, he said I had to wait 5 minutes to order another drink. Although, a man at the end of the bar( which the bartender called by name ) ordered a Jack Daniels neat and the bartender gave him a 12 ounce rock glass full of Jack Daniels! Not very classy in my opinion after all the fabrications he gave me! My wife and I went to guest services and asked to speak to the bar manager. I told him our experience with his bartender. Also,I told him, we paid $600 for 2 premium drink packages. He backed up the bartender and his disrespectful actions and proceeded to give me the run around. He said we're here to make money! I explained to him I was in the food and beverage business 50 years! I said there are approximately 34 shots in a liter. So at ounce servings and $8 per drink, Carnival allows most guests (but some special people get much more, not sure how to become one of these people) Carnival makes $ 272 per bottle which is approximately 9 times the cost of the bottle. I told him that's more than making money... that's called making a killing! He asked for our room number. Nothing ever came of that diversion! The Lido Buffet food was of poor quality with little variety. Many times reused the next day under a different name. The Sapphire restuarant service was very slow with a poor selection, hardly any better than the buffet. All 8 people in our group received cold food! Non smoking areas were not enforced. The restrooms were not very easy to locate and not cleaned very often. Read Less

Cabin - Spa Balcony on the 11th Floor Cabin No. 1104. Embarkation & Disembark at 12th Avenue 55th Street in Manhattan, NY. The ugliest ghetto ship i've ever been on. This was a 4-day cruise to Bermuda and we spent it in our cabin and only left to eat. The buffet is full of only 4-5 things and they're greasy yucky things. You have to make a line and stand on it each time. They had a great taco stand and a great pizza stand but i didn't go on a cruise to eat a $5 meal. Dining hall was nice called Sunshine but our first day it took them 30 min's to get a glass of water on our table (with a 19-month old !!!!! no less). We left. Boycotted for a day only to realize that the pizza and slimey food at buffet was going to make us even more sick!!! I threw up for 2 days because of the rocking of the ship!!! lol I have been on so many cruises before and never threw up or even felt anything close to sea-sick (infact!! when first time cruisers ask me if they'll be sea sick ..i tell them I NEVER EVEN FEEL THE SHIP MOVING) Not this Ghetto ship!!!! I felt it all!!! Gross and EWW!! Service: the staff? The crew ppl -- the small guys that i encountered AMAZING!! all Philippians and omg amazing amazing amazing....friendly nice sweet. I heard how the mop girl only made $540/month after working 60 hour shifts. They do a great job and with a smile. Activites? What FREAKING activities? This ship was all PROFIT FOR THE CRUISE LINE ....we, the passengers got gipped!! ZERO SHOWS...ZERO ENTERTAINMENT...there was NOTHING TO DO!! LIKE NO JOKE!!! nothing. Child room? N O P E !!! I could take my 19 months old to the play room from 8am - 10am FOR FREE or!!! from 10pm - 1 am for a free of $6.95/an hour. what about he rest of the freaking day????? b/c i wake up at like 10am!!! WELL i got to stay in my balcony room entertaining her ANNOYED. Pool? hot Tub? Sure but they were packed and i was grossed out to go near them!!! I DIDN'T even want my child to wet her feet in them!!! Entertainment: Comedy club!!! okay SAD!!! not funny! i went to two shows and 1 was by a CP person...he was as funny as he could be...no big jokes but he made fun of the fact that he couldn't make really much jokes .... 2nd was a black guy who gave us a speech (by us i meant to blacks) saying how they have to laugh even if he's not funny b/c us blacks have to stick together... Highlight? I gotta have some fun right? lol NO! i used the spa the first day and was done and bored with it.!! it is smaller than my NYC apartment and i live small!!! UGHH i paid too much for this ghetto vacation!!! How was Bermuda??? It was gorgeous...sadly we didn't have time to do much.. The port docs are at one end of the island and everything to do and see is literally 50 min bus ride away (minimum) to downtown Hamilton. Bermuda itself was gorgeous.. THIS IS A PLACE to go and stay at for a few days.....a cruise there is a waste! no time to do anything. I WOULD NEVER AGAIN USE CARNIVAL....it was my first experience with this GHETTO company (and i'm sure they have nicer ships but can't risk it) Read Less

My wife and I decided to take our three kids on a cruise. This was my first cruise and my wife had been on a couple many years ago. Our kids are 7, 10, and 11. I'll work from cruise start to finish so I don't miss anything. We loaded into the ship at NYC port. The load in wasn't bad at all until we reached the buffet on the Lido deck. That is when we realized that we weren't alone on this cruise LOL. There were people everywhere!!! The buffet line was LONG and once you got some food, there were absolutely no seats available unless you stood by a table waiting for a family to get up. Once we finally found a seat after walking around for 5 minutes with 3 young boys, we started to eat and lets just say the food was less than desirable. Thursday night was our first night and I think we made the most of a disgustingly overcrowded ship. Friday morning rolls around and we are greeted with some annoying voice over the PA system waking us up with things to do. Once we we got out of our room, we went to the Lido deck for some lounge and pool action... Sadly, there were absolutely no lounge chairs for us to sit. The boys ran to the teeny, tiny disgusting pool and my wife and I stood around in disbelieve. There are too many people on this cruise ship. When walked to the pool in the rear of the boat, we found that the layout of the pool caused massive bottlenecks. Shirtless people with tons of lotion bumping into me because there is little room to move from the front to back of boat on the Lido deck is not what I envisioned when booking this cruise. When I went to speak with customer care desk, I waited in yet another line only to hear that maybe cruises aren't right for me ..... lol... The woman actually said that its possible that the cruise ship is great and I am just not the "cruise type" LMAO. Saturday was nice in Bermuda. My family and I had a nice day snorkeling and hanging on beach. When we got back on the boat we decided to go to the ropes course and play some basketball with the boys. Sadly, the basketball court was packed with 20 people. The ropes course was great for the kids but the two staff were terrible. The man was talking with some guy right next to my 7 year old son while he waited in line to get a harness. The woman behind was talking to another participant. I told my son to start getting his harness on since nobody was there to help at which time the woman started yelling at my son and I. Do your job and you wouldn't have this issue. When my son was done, he cam down the stairs with 7-8 other people and they got yelled at for coming down the "wrong stairs". She said she had instructed everyone prior to the ropes course and my son didn't listen. Well, seems like everyone didn't listen or you didn't explain properly. Sunday was filled with more of the same nonsense. Lines, bottlenecks, and swimming pools that saw more people than water. The pools were absolutely disgusting. If your kid can't swim, rather than stick them in the pool with a massive life jacket, keep him out of the pool. Must have been 30 kids with giant yellow vests on. lol Monday was a day for exiting the cruise. The buffet was opened and then closed and the dining room closed early as well. We sat with our bags in a shuttered bar on the 5th floor and waited about 2 hours to leave the ship. I could be wrong but it seems like they could have made our last couple hours on the cruise a bit more enjoyable. I am sorry to say but this cruise was not good. Not sure we will ever try another cruise again. Read Less

I've just returned from our Carnival Sunrise Cruise. I love cruising and I've cruised many times but I was so disturbed and overwhelmed by this cruise. First off the food and crew were good. But that was about it. I was traveling with my daughter, her husband and 3 children for their first very much anticipated family cruise. First day weather was bad and all activities were closed (pools, slides, ropes, everything! My 6 year old grandson got sick and medical on board was not always open and Did Not have children's Tylenol...really? There were 2 small pools and not enough deck chairs....the six of us had to share 1 deck chair. This ship holds 3300 passengers but ship's amenities cannot accommodate them! Drinks packages, which were extra $ couldn't be used until the next day when we were in international waters. We were supposed to have the 2nd seating for dinner but upon arrival found that we had to have a reservation. Bar service was very slow. Food lines were slow, especially the pizza line...and it was hard to find a table to sit. I was looking forward to lobster and steak...but sadly this would have been more money, it wasn't included. There was a big fight that broke out with 20-30 people throwing deck chairs...there was another altercation among 3-4 men, luckily it didn't end in fist fighting. On disembarkation, the police boarded.....not what you expect! This ship is touted as the Fun Ships, but it was too darn crowded and Nothing about it was fun! Needless to say, my family will never cruise again.....I may, but definitely not on Carnival! Read Less

This was my first cruise experience. My coworkers tell me to try again, but I just can't. It was an extremely rocky ride...so I struggled. It did smell like sewage the whole time. The other guests on the cruise were rude to the workers and were beyond overwhelming. There was a fight in the eating area...which was absolutely absurd. The families on the cruise let their children run around and food was everywhere. A woman literally barged into the drink line and put her personal water container on the lip of the water to refill it for ten minutes. It was like eating at Golden Corral the whole time. I became extremely sick and spent the night in bed and going to the bathroom. I did take medicine for sea sickness...but it might have been a combination of the food, sugary alcohol drinks, rocking of the ship and the sewage smell. Leaving the ship was a nightmare. We were stuck with a 1000 other people in stairways and people started fighting. Thank God there was not a major catastrophe!! The police did board the ship in New York and take the people that were fighting. The staff were exceptional and kind. I felt so bad that they had to put up with the other guests. I would NEVER work on a cruise line. God bless them all!!! The entertainment was phenomenal, and it definitely helped me get through the weekend. There were multiple family reunions on the ship....so if I ever thought of going on one again....it would not be one with large family reunions. It was a family reunion ship where I was related to nobody and did not want to be there!!! Read Less

I chose this cruise because it spent 3 nites in Bermuda. after final payment was made cruise changed from staying in port, to leaving at nite and coming back in the morning. my wife and I decided to check into a hotel for the three nites, whiched saved the vacation. now, about the ship. on boarding, the sewer smell was so bad and the stale cigarette smoke was awful. food on the ship was ok, but nothing formal.. you eat, you don't dine. service on the ship is marginal at best. no more free room service, no more having your room cleaned two times a day. however, they do let you choose morning or nite service. the ship is rusty and in my honest opinion, carnival needs to sell it or scrap it. furthermore they should probably do that to all of their fantasy class ships. if you are booked on the ecstasy, I would consider changing ships, if not, you were warned. I will book on carnival again, but not on fantasy class ship. no how no way!! Read Less

I chose this cruise for the time that was allotted to staying in Bermuda. It was changed and we were cheated time on the island. The only reason I booked the cruise was for the time I was told we would be there which was changed and I do not know why. We had a balcony room. The first night something sweeked all night. I reported it woke up the next morning it was still sweeking. Told the cabin staff person he went and found it. It was a door left ajar. The next night the people in the cabin had a huge argument at 4 in the morning which last for an hour and half. One evening the room smelled so bad that I literately thought I was going to lose my dinner. We were in a cabin in which the room attendant never put up the bunk beds so we literally had one chair and one stool for four people. I had to move my bed to the middle of the floor at night because I thought if it as a jail cell. (Not that I know what that really feels like). I am a gold member so this was not my first cruise, but may be my last on Carnival. I am going to file a complaint. No one on our bus going back to parking lot said they wanted to return when asked by the bus driver. This ship needs to be docked and Carnival needs to refund passengers money for this cruise!!!!! This cruise was supposed to be 3 days docked in Bermuda. It was the entire reason we booked this cruise in the first place so we could take our time on the island. The itinerary was consistently changing and eventually we ended up with one full day and 2 extremely short partial days. My wife and I ended up spending more money on excursions and having less time to actually enjoy the island (like we originally paid for) No one on the crew really even acknowledged our concerns or offered "anything at all" to try to make it better. I would think it was maybe just my personal thoughts alone, however, virtually every other passenger I came in contact with was complaining about the same thing. I have been on 6 Carnival cruises in the last several years. I generally don't bargain shop for cruises... I see a cruise I like and I book it. Carnival has been my go-to in the past, however this last experience has caused me to start looking elsewhere for future cruises. The sad part is, that for the most part the crew was as expected... the food was as expected.... the entertainment was as expected but the fact that the itinerary was drastically changed.... and then.... there were no apologies from the crew, nor was there really any acknowledgement that this may negatively impact peoples vacations. Its as if everyone tried to sweep it under the rug. That's the part I have the biggest issue with. It has caused me to lose faith in Carnival. Sadly, my 5 previous cruises were great, but this last cruise will most likely be my last with Carnival. Read Less

Where do I begin. We are Diamond 47 Carnival cruises 277 days and this one was the last time we will ever do another Carnival cruise other than the one we already have booked for October 2019. Temperature on the ship was super cold, 66 degrees; food was terrible all 8 days. Any warm food got super cold quick. Trash. If you love salads, this was your cruise. If you like mashed potatoes, this was not your cruise. Mashed potatoes, one day for lunch. Otherwise rice and rebaked, baked potatoes. Black wrinkled skins and old potatoes. Tasted terrible. How about this. Turkey leg carving for lunch, the rest of the turkey for dinner. Veal parm. For lunch then warmed up for dinner. All the hot food. Warm at best. Lunch buffet. Always 30-40 tables always needed cleaning off while many were needing tables to eat at. Super short on help. Cutting down I would think. Bloody carved meat. Disgusting. Steak, super tough. Out of the entire 8 days. Two deserts were very good. Otherwise, none of them had any taste to them at all. Totally bland. Sause to put on a desert. Strawberry was a thin liquid with no taste. If there was soup that you may have liked. Saying that because they mixed up a lot of left overs and made soup. It was hot. The rolls were not much bigger than the butter tab. One day nice soft rolls, the next day harder and third day dark brown crispy hard reheat. The shows were average. One was totally boring. Fish and chips one afternoon. They want you to buy it. Chicken twice a day every day. Bingo was a joke. $500 dollar bingo. First game $100 second $150 third $250 that is there $500 dollar bingo. Now, almost all of the time more than one winner. Most received $50 if you won. Reason a lot of winners had to split it. The lowest they would give you was $50. Bingo card single $20, double $30, triple $40. So if you bought the $40 and won. You ar a big $10 dollar winner. A few hundred were playing and that is all carnival could offer. Disgusting! No electronic pads to get either. All dobber playing cards. The state room was fine. Like usual and our room steward was very nice as usual. Now how about this. I always do this. Every time I play a slot machine. I charge $100 to my account. Win or loose. Next machine I charge another $100. I can always look at the invoice and see how many games I played. This time, at cash out, I was accused of money laundering. Yes, money laundering. This was the very first time it happened to me. They would not give me my money. I was forced to take the cash out money and pay off my bill. The bill was all on my charge card. Talk about embarrassed. Yes, treated like a criminal. Our next Carnival cruise is on the Magic for Halloween 2019. Six cruises for 2019. Carnival, thank God, is only one of them. One last thing, the morning we were leaving, the Carnival channel on the TV had the time wrong by an hour. It was 6:30AM and it said $5:30 AM WE went back to bed. Then after leaving the room. We find out the correct time. Well, I could go on and on. Carnival is sinking fast. Celebrity and RCCL is blowing them out of the water for sure. Did you know that your points on carnival and Princess are not recognized together. RCCL and Celebrity, they are. The first cruise we took on Celebrity we were treated the same as going on an RCCL cruise ship. Priority. Nice! Happy Crusing! Stay off of Carnival ships. Forgot one thing. This must have been a cruise for the extremely old and the disabled. More electric scooters everywhere and always parked in the way. Read Less

This cruise was a bad idea from the start. Last time we went on Carnival 12 years ago and even then we thought that probably no more. But we really needed to get away this time and for many years wanted to visit Bermuda, so we decided to have no expectations whatsoever, and just relax and see the island. But this cruise was something else. To start, embarkation was ok, we came on time, went straight to the cabin and were shocked by the dilapidated state of the furniture and accessories, the shades were broken, the couch is stained, the window and door to the balcony so dirty you could not see through it. So I cleaned the room, the doors, the windows, the bathroom, but I still did not sit on that couch for the duration of the cruise, and tried to stay away from all surfaces. One day when mirrors were fogged, when we had the balcony door open, I saw all kind of had prints on every mirror in the room – must be a year at least of prints. We found discarded items from previous passengers, pill boxes under the bed. The same is true for every room and hall on this ship – it is dirty. Both my husband and I had terrible allergy attacks in the dirty cabin, and had to take antihistamine pills every day and buy more in Bermuda. Steward could not care less, I asked him to bring me a rope, it took a day, and when he did, it smelled of mold. One day the towels he changed were stained and torn. The drill was next, it started around 3 pm, standing in line for an hour in FL heat on the deck waiting for the drill. Captain did not wait until the end of the drill and started moving before it was over. So we were not able to have a going away party or see the shore from the top floor. This was just an opening act of the cruise where nothing was done on time. The crew behaved like it was their first cruise and they had no idea what to do and how the clock works. Captain’s toast was delayed by hour and a half without explanation or announcement. It was scheduled for 7 pm did not happen until 8:30; balloon drop scheduled for 9:15 was done at 9 instead when people were at dinner, and so on and so forth. There are no public places on this ship where you can just sit, relax, listen to music, the smoke is everywhere. The only through deck on the ship (deck 5) has a casino in the middle, the smoke is standing there, you cannot breath, and you cannot avoid going through there 10 times a day. Entertainment is nonexistent at best, and horrible the rest of the time. We could not find a thing to do on the ship for 8 days, tried to find any dance music, but all they have are terrible Cuban and calypso music on promenade, even when they played something tolerable, you cannot dance or stay there because of the smoke from the casino. So-called punch liners with their bodily function humor are tacky and not entertaining. Violinists on deck 3 were not told to stop playing when cruise director or captain is speaking, they would play louder so no one could hear the announcements. Singers and dancers are the worst I have seen in my over 30 cruises, 3rd rated Las Vegas strip club has better dancers that the once on the ship. The singing crew - wow - they should not be allowed to sing. In over 30 cruises that we took, we maybe missed 2 shows; this time we skipped 2 shows on purpose and left after 10 minutes of the other 2 shows - impossible intolerable cruelty on passengers to endure the screaming and screeching from the stage. The TV in the room is from the 19th century, no movies on demand, not even pay per view. Store selection is poor. This is the first cruise ever and the first trip abroad that we did not buy anything in the gift shops and did not bring any liquor back with us. The booze, watches, jewelry on the ship was more expensive than in regular US stores – first time ever. Everyone on the ship seems unhappy, crew is complaining all the time on long hours and being tired. Everyone is talking about when their contract ends and they go home. Very depressing. Now, the food. Food was terrible everywhere, no one cleans the tables at the buffet, and when they do, you have to clean them over again. I do not eat pizza, burgers, Mexican food, or any other junk, so I cannot rate these joints on board. But there was no food after 9:30 anywhere, no late night buffet, no deserts, no snack, no cookie, no ice cream ( I do not eat the chemical stuff they put into soft serve machines, would not consider it food). There is a coffee shop on board, so you can have coffee at least during the day because the cafeteria coffee is undrinkable. Buffet did not have any fresh choices, no berries, no fresh deserts, no good deserts either anywhere in 8 days. Terrible breakfast, to order cooks were out of pepper, tomatoes, mushrooms for omelets all the time. There would be a line of 10-12 people and he is making one omelet at a time on one skillet while 3 other people are standing nearby talking. Not once there was lox, white fish, herring, smoked fish served. No shrimps, no seafood for lunch or dinner at the buffet. I have not had anything tasty in 8 days, every time you go and eat, you think – why did I eat that? And how can I get it out of me fast? The second night was formal, so there was lobster at the restaurant; it was spoiled, I had stomach aches all night and the next day. Soups were terrible everywhere, how hard is it to have a consommé or chicken noodle soup? No vegetables were ever served anywhere but one day for lunch they had grilled zucchini and squash. In the restaurant when I asked to have vegetables, I would get 1 piece of broccoli or potatoes. We have noticed before that when chief is from India, the food is terrible, both in quality and choices. This was certainly true on this ship. On the last day at sea they decided to wash balconies - they wasted our last day on that and just spread the dirt all over. I can go over every day and every detail and cannot name one good thing from this cruise. This was our last cruise on carnival, it was terrible, and I never want to repeat it. Read Less

I was excited to travel from New York to Bermuda on this new ship but it was not an experience that I would recommend. I would not recommend traveling with Carnival or taking this particular ship. If you do, bring your patience, there will be a lot of waiting and subpar service. I was disappointed from the check in line. It took over an hour to get through the check in (maybe if you get there earlier you will wait less. Idk). After the check-in, the trip was an endless experience of waiting for elevators, a seat at breakfast in the Lido Marketplace, a lounge chair at the pool side movie, a cabana in the adult-only resort, everything! It was just lots of people and slow service (waiting 20 minutes to order a drink at the bar). Additionally, the service was bad and awkward. We did dine on your own time dining, the dining room was on one floor but the reservation spot was two floors up and around a corner (did I mention the slow elevators). The app did help with this but we used the app several days and we would get to the dining room (on-time) and they had reassigned our table, tried to sit us at tables that were already seated, and we waited 10 or more minutes once seated for service. One night, they told that they just sat two large parties and would have to wait a while for bread and water. The hostess was rude, unapologetic, and often acted distracted. Once seated, we waited a long time and the food was not good. We tried almost all the restaurants, Guys Burger Joint was by far the best (and free). The Seafood spot had a long line and did not have all the items on the menu. The pizza was also very good (20+ minute wait in the line). We stayed in the Family Harbor area, the lounge was also packed always (no seats, plates, silverware available). The scheduled food service in that lounge was inconsistent. One day, they did not bother to put food in the lounge at all. We ordered room service and the wait time was incredible 1.5 hours once and 45 minutes the other time (Our 2 year old was on a PBJ binge and without being able to access the family lounge -- room service became the only other place). We had massages in the spa. We waited 30 minutes past our appointment time to be seen (paid over $300) but later that day they gave us a $50 gift card that we could not use on the previous service. So, I recommend waiting until the end of the cruise to book any spa services in case they give any discounts later in the cruise. Finally, we pre-paid for the PixelMax before sailing and I have a $644 charge for pictures that I need to call and dispute. Not the vacation that I imagined. Two things worked well, Camp Ocean and our room stewart was good. Read Less

Horrible cruise and ship!!! Our room on deck 1 had a fishy smell, and our intercom in our room did not work so when the cruise host came on to give the cruisers daily info we could hear any of it. The high tech elevators leave you waiting for 10 to 15 minutes on most occasions. Don’t even think about getting a taco, burrito, or taco bowl unless you have an hour to wait in line. Think you want a pizza well carnival had one employee forming dough, making the pizzas, baking the pizzas and waiting on cruisers, so the wait for pizza is at least 45 minutes. On the lido deck in the buffet area it is like an ice skating rink walking. Peoples feet sliding out from under them. Almost slipped and fell many times. Reported to staff and was told they were aware of it. At breakfast water was dripping from the ceiling in the seating area in the buffet and had to move tables twice and seen many other families moving there seats as well. Was told it was condensation!!! And for the wow factor of a new cruise ship the atrium (lobby) area looked unfinished with white plastic looking stone walls. Not impressed at all and will think twice before cruising with Carnival again!!!! Read Less

The ship was overcrowded and understaffed. The food was cold all the time. The food in the buffet was mediocre. You couldn't find a seat in the buffet because it took the waiters a while to clean the tables. There were lines everywhere in the ship for food. There were only two choices which opened late and closed early. Guys burger and the taco place opened at 12pm and closed at 6pm. The cabin with the balcony was too small. The bathroom looked rusty even though it was a new ship. God forbid you try to order room service after 10pm. There are too many extra charges and the cruise is not cheap. The boarding was extremely unconformable (there were 6 elevator banks working to board 5,000 people with luggages) It took everyone an hour to leave the ship on the day we docked in Bermuda (The ship was not cleared). An hour wasted waiting to leave the ship. My kids did not want to stay in the kids camp because they said the staff didn't want to do any activities. It took an entire day to clean the pool after someone threw up. There was a huge line everyday for the pizza. The main dining room had an amazing staff but the food was horrible and tasteless. I have done other cruise lines and I wouldn’t do it again or recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy relax in a cruise. Thank God for the good weather. It was sunny and warm. Read Less

This ship needs a complete overhaul. Bright work worn and battered. Upholstry throughout tattered and/or stained. Food not acceptable; lacked taste, although presentation good. Service insufficient. Wait staff good but slow. Bar tenders for the most part good but some down right unpleasant. Appears the number of wait staff was kept below required for the number of passingers. Save money at the expense of the customer. Entertainment is subpar. Some of the dancers were good but the troupe was not. The comedy club was decent in the PG portion but VERY short duration. Of our party of six people three suffered gastric distress. Food??? All seafood was poorly done and appeared to have been frozen, thawed and refrozen. The hours of operation were less that expected at all stations. You could only get certain drinks at certain bars and they were all over priced. This is our sixth cruise but the first on Carnival. It will be our last on Carnival! Read Less

We choose this cruise because some dear friends of ours were renewing their vows for their 25th anniversary. This was the worse Carnival experience ever! The shower curtain was too short and water flooded the bathroom floor every time we showered. Consequently, we had to request extra towels to place on the floor to absorb the water. We pre-ordered a case of water and did not receive it until the night of the second sail day after calling to complain 3 times and once again at Guest Services. The cabin steward did not make any animal shaped towels until I approached him and REQUESTED one. (Day 3). I realized a bottle of Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau De Toilette was missing from my cabin the morning of debarkment. Because we were exiting the vessel, I did not contact security, but called Carnival to express my concern. I was told by the representative that "Carnival is not responsible for any lost or missing items as per their contract." I asked the representative if that meant that any Carnival employee could enter a cabin and remove items with no recourse. She replied, " We certainly will investigate the allegations; however, Carnival is not responsible for any missing or lost items as per our contract." I AM SO DISAPPOINTED WITH CARNIVAL SUNSHINE! We will be using another cruise line for our upcoming family reunion. Read Less

The Floor shows are 2nd rate and they no longer have a show band. It's obvious they are cutting corners and staff is limited. No nightlife except for the casino. The staff where all very friendly. They all really work hard to be helpful. The bars where under staffed and getting a drink was a challenge. The food has always been good on all of the previous cruises and I'm not a picky eater, most of it tasted like hospital food. Entertainment, Nightlife, Music, Floor Shows etc. where all absolutely a joke. This was a short but expensive Cruise and I knew when we had to wait 45 minutes to get in the dining room the first night, it wasn't looking good. I guess everyone else shared the same dining experience. We walked right in the next 2 nights and we opted out on the dining room the last 2 nights. The Fun Ship ain't no fun anymore! This was the worst experience i have encountered in 21 cruises. This could be my last if i ever recover. Day one the embarkation was the strangest i have encountered. We arrived at the port, by shuttle. Checked in outside and went and stood in the cold outside a fence for thirty minutes. Got onto the boat and went through check of luggage where my closed canned drinks were opened to check for alcohol, even though I told the checker that was not where i hide my alcohol. Allowed to start onto the ship and then waited another half hour at ramp going onto the boat. Being Platnium was not important, whoever was there went on. Went to Lido deck and half the first of many bad meals on this boat. Lido foo was not very good, Then had our safety briefing which was longest in several years. Went to dinner at your time dining. Food was better than Lido. but it did not have to go very far to be that. Food was cold when delivered. Day two sea day . rained and windy most of day. Normal day stuff was on boat trivia ect. Dinner was strange in dining room first time had hash bounds delivered instead of menu item of baked potato. Visited the Casino. Small and not very heavily used on most of the cruise. Day three arrived in Bermuda at 5pm. Raining again. stayed on boat this night Day four left boat and walked around dock area. Raining again. . Notified we would be leaving early the next day because of weather on return. Cabin was very loud, Found out that they were running thrusters to keep boat next to the dock. They did not make this known. Only way i found out was Carnival refunded part of my brothers money because of the noise and the smell on riveera deck. We left and found the bad weather on the next day. Very high winds and high seas. Bad for the sea sick folks. Went to show this evening and dancers sat to sing the show because of the rocking Overall the ship was in average conditions, the deck was not clean on many occasions The upper decks were closed on most of the sea days because of winds. Service on the ship was good on most occasions. Cabin was fine first time i have had interior cabin, space was fine only problem was excessive noise while docked over night. Did no excursions through Carnival, howver it was easy to get around and see different areas. Taxis, Ferries . I would not take this cruise again on the Ecstacy. The ship is not a very good product for Carnival. It is small, dirty . Port of Charleston obviously does whatever they can to discourage passengers from leaving there Read Less

The night before we departed I noted online they were still selling cabins. When we checked in I was surprised that the cabin was one Floor One (no longer using names). I stood in guest services trying to get that changed, to no avail since they lied and said they were full. After I left Guest Services I was told we were no longer going to Bermuda due to in climate weather, but rather to Puerto Rico, Grand Turk, and St. Thomas. (a far more inferior cruise). We were to be refunded $45.00 in port fees since we would not be staying in port at Bermuda for 3-4 days. Also, we were to be offered 25% discount on a future cruise with stipulations on length of future cruise. Our cabin appeared neat and clean. We noticed the reading light bedside was out and 3 work orders and 2 days later it was finally fixed. It took 24 hours to get ice delivered the room. The Lido Buffet never changed its menu the whole 8 days. Guys Burgers and the Mexican Restaurant were good. We were on a wait list for evening dining at 6 pm the whole cruise. We were to go to one floor, get a ticket, then go to another floor to eat in a dining room. The rolls were only French bread and a simple roll every night, no variety. One time I never got my Caesar Salad. Two baked potatoes were returned because they were not cooked through before she gave up. My cabin mate also returned her prime rib because she needed it a bit more cooked only to have the next prime rib delivered with GRAVY. In the dining room, Escargot was dripping in butter and had no bread crumbs stuffed mushrooms were only half of a mushroom surrounded in stuffing. Back up in Lido, they had to lines converge at breakfast time at the bacon platter...talk about a back up. The omelet stations (2) were well equipped with about 10 hot plates but only 1 man working at a station. After a long wait, I opted for the powdered eggs. In line, I was chatting with a lady with an omelet and asked her if she had waited long for her omelet and she said "No, but our breakfast ordered to the room never came." I heard that more than once...and another where they brought the coffee pot, 2 croissants, creamers, etc, but only one cup for the couple. The server never offered to bring another cup either. I wanted to watch the #1 College football team play on Saturday and went to the sports lounge only to have the bartender ask one man which game he wanted to watch and then switched to the game of that man's choice. I went to watch my game in my room. The activity selection was not bumped up even with 4 days at sea. If you did not play bingo or buy art, you were left out. I caught a show or two, but had seen another. The Piano Bar, my favorite night spot, had a uninspiring pianist with no personality. I went once. I enjoyed the Serenity Area. Immensely. But the water in the small pool up there was just too cold to stay in. The other Lido Deck pool was unsafe for most adults as the 115 children (out of 3,000 passengers) completely splashed everyone out. I went to 2 Tea Times. The first was very disappointing with a sliver of cucumber with BUTTER between bread and mediocre sweets. The second Tea Time I had been told the trick. The better treats were kept on the lower shelves of the rolling cart. Also, how often does the waiter ask what kind of tea you want instead of presenting the Tea Case. On one occasion, I asked again for my tea bag and he pulled it out of his front pocket. I have been cruising Carnival often lately and been very happy until this cruise. No one seemed to know what they were doing. Even at disembark, we were told to be ready at 7:30 am (early flight slot) yet it was between 9 and 9:30 before we were called. This was a special cruise out of Port Canaveral to Bermuda (first ever) and the ship was full of Florida residents and seasoned cruisers and most were very disappointed with the service, food, and compensation for our issues. There was no one to talk to who could change things, we were just given an 800 number to call when we returned home. How convenient for them. Read Less

My wife and I and two friends just returned from the worst cruise any of us have ever been on. My wife and I and the wife of our friend couple have been on about 12 cruises each, so we do have some for comparison. The Husband has cruised over 70 cruises and has over a 1000 days at sea on cruise ships. This was a cruise to Bermuda from Baltimore on the Carnival Pride. I still don't see anything for them to be proud of. This ship was like living in a dungeon, all shades of brown or dark colors, just gloomy. We sailed 1 1/2 hours late from Baltimore. We found this ship to have the worst food of any ship we have been on. The lounges had no happy hour or drink specials. Also no dance bands, as all four of us like to dance. The ship was smokey in nearly all lounges and they never served horderves in any of them. Our bed must have had a 15 year old mattress on it. It had about a 4 to 5 inch concave on both sides giving me one of the worst Back aches I've had in years. Complaining to the room Stewart did nothing. There was no theater, and the shows were juvenile. During the life boat drill there were no signs in the companion ways to guide you, major safety issues if there were an emergency! Every ship usually has a poolside BBQ during the cruise, not carnival. No complementary shore leave bags. Also you might want to leave your kids home the art work is full nudity through out the ship. We could have spent another whole day in Bermuda but the ship took a huge loop getting there taking a day longer to get there then coming home. I will say the staff in the dining room were very friendly and up beat, making our cruise a little more tolerable. Bottom line don't waste your money on Carnival, there are plenty of cruise lines out there that can give you a great vacation for the same price. Steelplayer Read Less

This was my fifth AND LAST cruise on Carnival. We wanted to go somewhere special and visit a port that we've never been to. I was very disappointed that our itinery had changed. I had checked several days in a row before our vacation, and even checked Carnival's website at 7am the day of the cruise. There were no itinery changes mentioned. We found out when we checked in at noon and they told us that we were going to Key West and Cozumel. We've already been there a few times, so we weren't too happy about it, but we wanted to keep a positive mind-set, especially since we paid a lot of money for this vacation. We called Carnival to ask for a price adjustment before we actually boarded the ship, but I was told they couldn't do anything until we got back. "Not being able to do anything about it" is a common phrase we heard this past week. The other option was to not go on the cruise, but we would not be reimbursed. I don't understand how they could have waited so long to make this decision. It's just not right of them to do something like that. Now, this is what upsets me more. You have a couple thousand people that are going to be disappointed, especially since they paid a premium to go to Bermuda, and Carnival doesn't offer a price adjustment from the start of the trip or at least throw in some freebies (internet, free soda, alcohol, daycare, photos, on board credit, etc.)? I'm not saying to give us all of these things, but it sure would have made a difference to us if Carnival at least tried to offer us something. We did pay a premium fare to go to Bermuda, and if you're not going to take us there, why should they profit from it? They're were a lot of unhappy and complaining people on board (justified of course), so they could have fixed it from the start of the trip. I called Carnival after we got back, and all they said was that it wasn't their fault about the weather. I completely understand about the weather, and if you have to make itinery changes, fine. But, I paid for a "Special Voyage" at a premium price, so do the right thing and reimburse me the difference you would have charged me if we were suppose to go to Key West. The lady that I spoke with tried to take credit for Carnival reimbursing the difference in the port taxes. That's not Carnival's money in the first place, and yes Carnival had to do it. Now the second thing that upsets me. Who in their right mind heads into a hurricane? I did not feel safe, especially at 3am. The seas were way too rough and I think it was completely wrong of Carnival to make this attempt. Another route or a cancellation would have been better. It was absolutely horrible. Barf bags taped to the elevators, people falling down the stairs, people throwing up near the dining rooms. My youngest daughter wouldn't take the elevators because they smelled so bad. You had to hang onto the railing when you showered or took the stairs. Just walking from Port to Starboard felt like climbing a steep hill and then running down it. Sleeping the first night was really difficult because of all the motion and being tossed around. All I could think about at 3am was what an ass-nine decision to go into Irene (sorry, the 'outskirt of Irene'). There were a couple of women that had bandages on their heads and they looked pretty banged up. I witnessed one lady falling down the stairs. Another gentleman was really bruised too. The second day was still too windy/rocky for the kids to use the water slides. And as the large waves subsided to only being 12 feet high, is when our Captain decided to make an announcement. Wouldn't it have been nice to hear from him so he could tell us what to expect and how long to expect it before? How about kindly explaining why our route to Bermuda would no longer be doable? And since Bermuda is known for it's famous beaches, how about picking a port with some nice beaches? Again, I am not blaming Carnival because of the weather. They could have just made the experience a better one. We had no idea boarding the ship about how bad it was going to get. If passengers were told before boarding, and given the option to cancel and be reimbursed, I'm sure many would have done so. We would have. Carnival has lost our future business. Read Less

This is my first Cruise review of any kind. This latest cruise was my third with Carnival. Sailing date was 4/23/2004. I had previously been on the Destiny in 2000 and the Triumph in 2002. I can confidently say this was by far the worst cruise I have ever been on and my last with Carnival. I will attempt to keep this brief. We were cruising to Bermuda and then Newport, Rhode Island for 6 days out of New York. The embarkation was typical. Took about an hour. As for the Ship it was a typical large Carnival Ship. A lot of wasted space. It really did not seem well built as my Wife and I toured the entire Ship from front to back. Seems like they were rushing when they built it. We found many flaws. The hallways were terrible. You would be constantly running into people as the Hallways were not straight from one end of the Ship to the other but were in sections due to extended Balconies I presume. It was constant right and left hand turns and Boom, running into someone around the corners. You have to be on this ship to fully appreciate what I'm saying. The stairs at the front of the ship were like 6-7 inches in length. This was strange and a major problem for me since I wear size 12 in shoes. It was difficult for me to walk down these stairs without falling. Also we had some rough seas for one day which was nothing major as compared to a previous Cruise yet this ship was creaking as if we were in a Hurricane. It was amazing to listen to. Here is a brand new Ship which sounded like it was about to break apart do to some semi rough seas. The creaking was so loud in those Hallways it was freaky. The previous Ships did not have this problem. We felt the ship had some major structural problems. It's obvious they rushed building it. We had a Room with a Balcony. It was ok. The Balcony was not long enough for me to stretch my 6'3" frame out on which was a disappointment. It was clean though. Two twin Beds pushed together. No complaints there really. We had the late seating dinner which we always have. Another problem with this Ship is that they only have one Dining Room. The caused the one Dining Room to be very overcrowded and many people feeling they were out in the boondocks away from any action going on. Previous Ships had two Dining Rooms which worked out better for everyone. We assume they switched to one Dining Room to cut staff. Now for my first major complaint. The Midnight Buffet. Actually they do not even call it a midnight Buffet anymore which is appropriate. It consisted of Pizza/Calzone and some sandwich meat. That's about it. My first Cruise on the Destiny in 2000 the midnight Buffet was something everyone looked forward to. The amount and variety of Food available at that time was mind boggling. Now it is truly a joke. My Wife tells me the midnight Buffet was even better on the Ecstasy in 1997 on her first Cruise with Carnival. People loved it, looked forward to it, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Now it is not even worth going to. Again we assume this is cost cutting by Carnival. The service and Food in the dining Room was fine. My second major complaint was the entertainment and activities on board. This was another joke. Our days at sea consisted of bingo and hairy chest competitions. Total waste of time and very boring. Also before we left for our cruise we contacted Carnival by phone and were specifically told that there would be only one formal night for dinner. We packed accordingly. When we arrived on the ship we found out there were actually two formal night. To say the least we were very upset by this situation (especially my wife). We spoke to a Woman at the pursers desk only to be met with blank stares. Then to make matters worse they misprinted which nights were formal night in the daily carnival capers pamphlet. Causing half the people to show up to dinner dressed to kill and the other half dressed casual. Why couldn't carnival make a simple announcement over the ships intercom that there was a misprint and correctly inform the customers. Total incompetence. They DO NOT care about their customers. It's also obvious that they have a very low opinion of their customers as we were shocked when we sat at out table for dinner in the formal dining room and found only one fork and one knife along side the plate. YES, FOLKS, you get ONE FORK and ONE KNIFE for the appetizer, dinner and desert. I kid you not. We were stunned by this as on previous Carnival cruises we always had three forks and three knifes at the dinner seating. It seems Carnival feels their customers do not have enough class to mind and they may be right from witnessing the people on board with us. Also the waiter was the worst we ever had. He even tried to avoid giving us the paper place mat with the picture of the Legend the last night of the cruise. We noticed every other table was getting theirs except us We waited and waited knowing he was trying to avoid giving it to us. Finally we had to go over to the Maitre'D and request it. We ended up only getting one when we were suppose to get one for each of us. The shows at night have really gone down hill from the past. The comedian was pretty good. But the other shows with the dancers are not nearly as good as they were as Carnival has added singers to these shows who leave a lot to be desired. I grade the overall entertainment on board a D and that is being liberal. My Wife was also very disappointed. Now for my main complaint which has caused me to state I will never Cruise with Carnival again. I became sick with severe stomach cramps and diarrhea from Saturday night's 4/24/04 dinner through Sunday morning. My Wife requested something from the infirmary such as Lomotil or Immodium, but was only given Kaopectate. After taking the Kaopectate, it resolved the problem through the day on Sunday so we were able to enjoy our first day in Bermuda. After returning to the ship Sunday night, I again began having more severe stomach cramps and diarrhea. We had not eaten any of the food in Bermuda. Around midnight Sunday, I called the infirmary and stated that I needed Lomotil or Immodium and medication for the abdominal cramps. The nurse was reluctant to give any medication at all, and recommended Kaopectate again. I had to make numerous phone calls to this nurse who finally grudgingly agreed to give my Wife Lomotil, but stated there would be a $50.00 charge for it. She asked if I had a temperature. Since my Wife is a Registered Nurse and certainly can tell if someone has a temperature, I told her I did NOT have a temperature, just the diarrhea and stomach cramps. She then stated it was not a professional diagnosis and I had to go to the infirmary. I was too weak to go, as the infirmary was at the other end of the Ship. The nurse then stated that I would be quarantined to my stateroom and not be allowed to leave the Ship or the stateroom for 24 hours. Medical clearance would only be given on Tuesday morning. I asked the Nurse if I felt better the next morning could I go on shore to Bermuda and was told NO. This caused us to miss our second day in Bermuda which was the main reason we went on this cruise to begin with. All the compensation we received from Carnival was free pay-per view movies for the 24 hours of which the selection was horrible. Who wants to watch movies when you are in Bermuda? We were forced to stay in the stateroom. She also threatened that if I attempted to leave the ship while docked in Bermuda on Monday, I would have my sign and sail card taken away. Mind you the nurse made this judgment without ever seeing me. We feel this was done as retaliation for awakening her from her sleep on Sunday night as she had a major attitude problem through this entire episode. On Tuesday Morning, we went to the infirmary and the nurse asked when I last had the diarrhea and I told the nurse that it had stopped Monday morning. She proceeded to give me medical clearance and said sarcastically "Now you can enjoy the rest of your cruise." This entire episode was outrageous and totally mishandled. Bottom line is I got sick from food served by Carnival and should NOT be penalized for it. I called Carnival's guest relations department and was given the expected excuses. They said they would send me a voucher for $50 off my next Carnival Cruise as well as a free excursion. Whoopee. Carnival, you can keep your $50 discount and free excursion. You lost not only my Business as well as my Wife's. I will never cruise with you again. Read Less
