Would definitely recommend this ship, and we do not usually sail with Carnival. Chose this cruise because we loved the itinerary and long days in each port. We knew this was a very port intensive cruise rather than a laid back relaxing cruise like going to the Caribbean. We mostly joined many private excursions which saved us a great deal of money, and allowed us to travel comfortably and meet many wonderful people. We did do CARNIVAL's excursion to Tsambika beach in Rhodes which we enjoyed. It is a much larger ship than we have previously cruised on and expected there would be lines for everything yet this was not the case; we barely ever had to wait in line. There were so many fun things to do on the 2 sea days we had. Loved the brewery, sky ride (free), obstacle course (free) and water slides. The pools were small however there were a few so it did not seem cramped. The ship is beautifully decorated with ample space to sit while eating at the buffet. Although we were not impressed with the food in the main dining room except on the formal nights, the steakhouse (which does have an additional charge), Guy's Burger's (free) and pizza (free) were amazing. Ice cream was available 24hrs/d. The staff were awesome: friendly, helpful and accomodating. Our cabin stewards and wait staff couldn't have been more doting. Read Less

I had a great cruise on the Vista and would definitely go on her again. I will now tell you about the things I liked and did not like as much about the Vista. The Ship - I really liked the look of the Vista from the outside, from the shore side. Also I thought the outside decks and amenities were great. I loved the Havana pool bar and outside area. One really good thing that the Vista has, more than any ship I have been on so far, is fantastic seating areas on the outside decks. Lots of comfortable chairs which meant we never had a problem finding somewhere to sit outside on deck. There are a couple of things I did not like about the ship though. Firstly I thought the Atrium was too small and that the decor of the walls was just too plain and boring. I really like the grand atrium's of their other ships. This is obviously my personal preference and no doubt there are people out there who did not like the "over the top" decor of their other ships. Secondly I did not think that the Theater/Liquid Lounge was big enough or that the obstructed views were something that you should have to put up with on a modern ship. I made sure I got there on time to get a good view but there were a lot of people who were unhappy about the obstructed views and the set up of the Theater. The Cabin - I really liked my cabin and thought that it was larger than cabins on other cruise lines. Although the balcony was smaller than on some previous cruises. Also I was surprised to find a shower curtain on a new ship. I easily filled up the small amount of drawer space in the room, so I think that this would be a problem for 2 people. My bed was comfy and the fridge did a good job of cooling drinks down. The room had a good aircon unit and it was easy to adjust the room temp if needed. My cabin steward Michael was really nice and did a great job looking after the room. Dining - Food is very important I think on a cruise and is very subjective to different people. I personally thought that the food was ok to very good. I did not have a bad meal on the ship and I did not go hungry. As I said in the review, I was not impressed with the system of "Your time Dining". Why you could not go to deck 3 to book in for the restaurant I will never know. Having to go to deck 5 then deck 3 made no sense at all. When booking, you were told that you would have to wait for more than an hour sometimes. This is a big problem on the newer, larger ships, that have 5000 plus people onboard. I understand that you all cannot book the same time, so I don`t know the answer to this one. It is just something you have to prepare yourself for when going on the mega ships. As I said, I am not a fan of "no Tablecloths" and the service style of the American Table restaurants. I am British and call me old fashioned, and do not like to be served my dessert when others are still eating their main courses. One other thing that happened when we were in the restaurant was my brother asked for mustard with his steak, they brought out a jar that still had a cellophane wrapping on and just placed it next to his meal. Why was this not served in a small bowl instead of a greasy workman`s cafe style way of serving sauces. I am sure even a greasy spoon cafe would take off the wrapper on the jar. Overall the service in the restaurant was ok but not great. We did not eat in the buffet so I cannot comment on the food served here. Because this was a port intensive cruise I would have eaten in the buffet when we got back in the afternoon from our trips ashore, however nearly every time we got back on the ship the buffet was closed at 4pm. Guys was open but that was the only choice for people arriving back on ship, burgers or nothing. As nearly every night we had to wait till gone 9pm to eat dinner it would have been nice to get a small meal or salad from the buffet at teatime. My only other complaint about the dining was that there was only a very sweet lemonade or coffee available to drink that was free. No sugar free alternative. The food in the for a fee restaurants was excellent however and would highly recommend Ji Ji Chinese restaurant. This was the best food I have had at sea ever. I did like the burgers from Guys as well. Entertainment - The shows in the Theater were brilliant, I really enjoyed these. Sorry I did not go to the smaller shows, like the juggler or singer that was on our sailing, as I did not have time for them. The piano bar was also really good and the music in the Atrium I liked as well. The band in the Havana bar were great as well. I found the music in the red frog pub was also really good. In fact I thought the entertainment throughout the whole ship was above average when compared to other cruises I have been on. The Cruise Director never stopped and she was great at getting the enthusiasm levels up on the ship. In fact I found that there was always something going on at all times of the day and thought that it would be a sad person indeed who was bored on the Vista. Outside decks - I loved the outside decks and also always found something to do. The best thing I liked was the Skyride, the slides and the seating areas. I did like the ropes course but was terrified while doing it. The pools were average and I think needed to be bigger on a ship with 5000 plus people onboard. The hot tubs were not very hot and also there was only 4 of them. Staff and service - Overall the staff were excellent as was the service. Compared to most of the cruises I have been on, I think this was one of the better ones. Staff were very friendly and went out of there way to look after you. The only place I found this not to be the case was in the Horizons restaurant. The service here was only average to poor. It was far from great. This was probably due to the time we were able to dine in there. I like to go to a show before dinner which meant we not able to check in till around 8pm most nights. Because of the wait times we were rarely in the restaurant before 9pm. This meant that the waiting staff were far from their best by this time. I have to say my cabin steward was fantastic and did a great job. The bar staff were also really friendly and efficient and did a great job too. So that`s it for this cruise. I will definitely go on the Vista again and look forward to traveling on a Carnival ship again in the future. I am not loyal to any brand and have never had a bad cruise. My next cruise should be next year on P&O, on the ship Britannia. I know it will be hard going on a cruise on my own but have read lots of reviews on here by other people who do it all the time. So till next time, and if anyone wants to ask questions about Vista feel free to ask me anything you want to know. Thanks for reading, Read Less

The number of various ports was exceptional - providing something of interest for everyone. Carnival Vista is beautiful and spacious. Crew is most attentive to ensuring it is tidy and clean. Our cabin steward team was prompt, energetic, and attentive to ensure our room was fresh and clean. Exceptional outgoing personalities - respectful, courteous, and thoughtful. Replenished our ice bucket daily. We enjoyed eating at the Lido Marketplace Buffet for each of the daily meals - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Fresh and delicious selection of various types of food items. Especially enjoyed the slow-churned, hand-dipped ice cream / gelato Attended a few of the Dive-In Movies We are sailing the Vista's 1 Oct and 11 Oct journey cruises - would have preferred a different selection shown - rather than all duplications. Hopeful anticipation that the Vista's TA Dive-In Movies get changed out for a different selection. Don't understand why Carnival must charge so much for the IMAX theater, I would think they could make more money lowering the price and increasing the number of viewers. Read Less

The European ports MADE this cruise! Sorry the ship is moving to the caribbean. As far as the ship itself: noticed definitely lower ceilings in many areas (my husband had to duck to avoid head trauma!), and the "show" areas were oddly designed leaving many obstructed view seats in all the show lounges. Carnival's attempt to make these multi-purpose venues made them not-quite-right for any. The crew was fabulous, friendly and personable. The addition of the micro brewery in the pub onboard was a great idea and a very fun place to hang out. The food was normal Carnival....not exceptional but perfectly adequate. Our cabin, 8400, was fine but I do wish Carnival would put coffee pots in the rooms! I ordered early room service coffee every morning and got it 8 out of the 10 mornings. The other 2 mornings they "forgot" to collect the breakfast orders from our end of the floor. First World problem, I know, but irritating all the same. We will definitely cruise Carnival again, although perhaps not this ship. Read Less

My step-daughter and I went to Barcelona a few days before the cruise departed. We enjoyed exploring the city and seeing it's beautiful architecture. The afternoon we boarded, things went very smoothly from checking our bags with the porter outside, to checking in and getting our room key, to finding our cabin. We were staying in a Spa Suite and our cabin was clean and ready for us when we arrived. The cabin was spacious, with two twin beds, that were very comfy after walking around our ports all day. There was plenty of closet space for our belongings. The bathroom had double sinks, a spa tub, and shower. Our room steward, Eddy was always nearby and ready to help out. Because our itinerary was very port intensive and we had long excursions planned, we selected the any time dining option. We never had to wait more than a few minutes to be seated, and the service was adequate. The food was never great, and I was super disappointed about the desserts. I'm not usually a buffet person, but on this cruise, the buffet food was far better than the dining room food. The Vista is a brand new ship, so of course everything is sparkly and new, with no wear and tear yet. I enjoyed the LCD funnel in the atrium, although I missed the glass elevators. Speaking of elevators, one of my pet peeves on the ship was that you could not push a single button to call all elevators in a section. You had to walk and push each button, by each individual elevator. It was nice that Carnival finally brought in some different entertainment in the Liquid Show Lounge. That is one of the things that I wish Carnival would improve on is varying the entertainment instead of having the same shows across the board on each ship. There are two big water slides on the Vista, and they are both a blast. The new sky ride was fun. We went to the Havana area one night just to check it out and were a bit jealous of the private pool, jacuzzis, and bar. We had a great cruise and enjoyed the ship very much and have already booked again on this ship for it's first sailing out of Miami. Read Less

We booked this cruise several months in advance, and splurged on both airfare and the room by upgrading. We upgraded our room to the Spa Balcony Suite and chose the one at the front of the boat 14206- we were told it was bigger, and the balcony would wrap around- not the case at all! I've never been so disappointed in a room before- the suite was smaller than the regular rooms, and the balcony was smaller than a normal balcony and had a partition cutting off the "wrap around" so the only view we had was directly straight ahead. We lost a lot of balcony space because it was at the curve and so it angled off, some spots were 4 feet deep, others less than 3. We were woken up twice (once on a sea day) by the spin class below us- at 8am....this was not acceptable. Embarkation was a disaster- we were supposed to be "priority" but there really wasn't such thing in Athens, as they have a makeshift terminal- so everybody goes thru the same thing. Dining was excellent- we were worried about waiting a long time with anytime dining, but we never waited at all- servers were attentive and the food was better than almost any other cruise we've been on. Very clean, very well done. Staff were excellent w/the exception of one person- we were very surprised as we have been on Breeze and other big boats and felt service was lacking. Boat never felt crowded! Read Less

We traveled via Eurostar and TGV to Barcelona from London and had 2 nights in Barcelona before boarding Carnival Vista. We purchased Hop on Hop Off Turisme bus tickets for our day in Barcelona and traveled the whole of all 3 routes in the day, jumping off at various points. Barcelona is a wonderful city and we hope to return sometime to do it more justice than you can possibly do in a day. Embarkation and Debarkation was absolutely superb. We had been robbed on our journey in Paris and had no boarding passes or luggage tags. This was no problem and the staff handled it professionally and politely, and we were not delayed at all in boarding. The ship is huge and the facilities, cabin and bathroom superb. Personally I found the Atruim disappointing, but my other half liked it. We rarely had problems with the lifts, of course there were delays at busy times, but these were not excessive, and the ship rarely seemed overcrowded wherever you went. One criticism was the lack of encouragement to use the sanitising gel. On Norweigian staff were virtually spraying it on your hands as you went past them, but on this ship no encouragement whatsoever. I finished the cruise with a bug, but can't say it was down to the ship, but this aspect does warrant improvement. Dining wise I have to say I was disappointed with the Buffet. On our only other cruise which was with Norweigian (Jade) you could find virtually whatever cuisine you wanted. This buffet was very limited. However the food and service in the Horizons resturant was very good, although My Time dining wasn't as you were unable to book a time at the desk, and were constantly advised to go early as it would be busy later. We used the Steakhouse, Asain, Italian and Seafood Shack Speciality Resturants, and found these excellent in food quality, service and value for the cover charge. Indeed our meal in the Steakhouse was one of the best we had ever eaten. We didn't use many of the entertainment facilities, but found ourselves drawn to the Red Frog Pub most nights. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and a superb solo artist in Ed Carr. The place was rocking at times. We booked a Carnival Excursion in all ports of call and have to say enjoyed all of them. The highlights were Capri and the Amalfi coast, and Rome in which we were really lucky in having Pablo who was a superb guide. All in all though a very enjoyable cruise. Read Less

We booked this cruise in December 2015, our TA got us a great deal on an Ocean Suite, however, my wife was taken into hospital 3 weeks before we were due to sail. We feared that we would have to cancel, but her health improved quite quickly, and we both decided that it would probably be beneficial to have 8 days of rest and relaxation aboard ship but not do any off ship excursions. This proved to be a good decision. We had booked the Hotel Continental in Barcelona for a 2 night pre-cruise stay, it is a wonderfully quirky place and we had an excellent room with a queen sized bed and a balcony overlooking Las Ramblas. We loved this hotel and have already booked there again prior to a cruise we are taking next June. On departure day the cruise terminal was extremely busy and the safety drill later in the day was a bit chaotic. We found out later that the previous cruise was delayed arriving in Barcelona due to engine trouble and that as a result everything was running behind schedule. We had to queue for about 20 minutes before we could drop off our luggage, after that we were checked in and aboard the ship pretty quickly. As we were in a suite we had priority check in, so that probably helped. We were also pleased to discover that as suite guests our room was ready straight away, this enabled us to drop our hand baggage off and go to the Lido buffet for some lunch. The ship is huge and even after 8 days aboard with no shore excursions we felt that we still hadn't seen everything it had to offer. Accomodation...Our stateroom, as I mentioned earlier, was an Ocean suite on deck 7. It was a large room with a king bed, large sofa, armchair, coffee table, dressing table, fridge, safe and an enormous flat screen TV, there was also a separate closet area for clothes. The bathroom was also a good size with a full sized whirlpool bath with an overhead shower, wc and double washbasins. The balcony was the full width of the room with 3 chairs and a small table. Our cabin steward Mihai was unobtrusive but very efficient. Overall , we were very happy with our choice of cabin. Dining... We ate all our breakfasts and lunches in the Lido buffet. The was a lot of choice and the food was very tasty. For dinner we were on Your Time Dining, for this you had to check in at the reservations desk on Deck 5 and the go to the Horizons restaurant which was on 2 levels and had entrances on decks 3 & 4 (ours was deck 4, the upper level). Apart from the first night when everybody was still unsure about the system, we never had to wait more that a couple of minutes either to check in or be seated in the dining room. We had a great service team and requested their service area for all the following nights. Entertainment...There are some great entertainers in all the bars, our favourite was the Red Frog pub. We also enjoyed the dive in movies in the evenings on the pool deck and the Thrill Theatre, my wife particularly liked the scary late night showing there. Apart from the Red Frog we didn't go to many of the bars and shows as we preferred to sit out on deck in an evening on the very comfortable lounge chairs and sofas chatting to other passengers. Conclusion... We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise on the Vista, the crew and other passengers were very friendly and we would have no hesitation in cruising with Carnival again in the future Read Less

Chose this cruise cuz it fit a block of time between already booked flights and it was rt barcelona and had a good itinerary and was new and bigger than other carnival ships. Boarding process was a nightmare and the food esp breakfast in the dining was often inedible. im talking poorly made omelettes and rancid bacon on 2 occasions!! eve meals hit and miss--only got enough to eat if you ordered 2 or 3 of every course and were lucky if you liked one or 2. red meat and melons tended to be best options.the waiters tried their best but kitchen staff definitely lacking as was the quality of some of the ingredients. shore excursions ok but cant say i really enjoyed ay of them. Avoid dine as you wish as their check-in system was diabolical. Really glad i was able to get assigned to a mixed group table for 10 at the late seating. spa was nicer than most but the people were loud and inconsiderate so not very relaxing. Music options and room stewards were great as were guest services if you didn't mind standing in line for ever to see them. you must bring debit card to change money at atm as they dont handle cash at the desk. Might possible try vista again for carrib cruise but not for europe. just glad i met some nice people on my own as no planned singles lunches or breakfasts. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the ports. It was fun and food was great. I was frustrated with Carnival charging $17 per person to ride a shuttle from port in MArseille. They warned us of crooks there - Carnival was the biggest. Same with other ports - CItavichia and Palma de Mallorca. We walked to Mayor beach, but it was red flagged due to pollution. Got in a cab to go to a different beach and it started pouring rain. Paid the driver to return us - $40 for nothing. To go to Pisa it was cheaper to take a cab. LOved the cruise director Jaime. SPa was the normal rip off. The water slides, bikes in air and ropes course was all fun. No academic classes like photography or computers offered like on Holland America. The singers - dancers and musical entertainment were all great - especially the piano bar and several guitar players and violins. Outdoor movies were fun as was Imax and Thrill theater. Getting on and off was easy. We took a great tour through italytours.eu in Naples - Pompeii, sorrento and amalfi coast. Way cheaper than carnival tours and we had 12 people with a great driver. We cruised on the CARNIVAL VISTA September 23rd itinerary from Barcelona in a Havana Suite. We had a wonderful cruise experience overall. The Suite was just beautiful, it was very spacious for two people. We dealt with bass noise from the band playing in the bar until late each night and slamming of the hallway for leading to it, however earplugs helped. The cabana patio was not as private as I had hoped however and had a neighbouring cabana guest come into my balcony and switch cushions from my chair (hers was left out in rain so she helped herself to my dry one)...Caught her by surprise when I opened the door to come out and barely saw her out after. The large rainshower in the suite is lovely, wish I had one like that at home now! Our room steward was wonderful in the beginning very attentive and addressed us by name mid cruise she became more MIA and the service declined a bit. We were able to take part in the new suite perks including free laundry, waters, and other surprises and goodies given to us throughout the cruise. Overall a great choice despite the above mentioned hiccups. Jamie Dee was a ball of smiling never ending energy, high praise to her as kept everything flowing perfectly, and was entertaining! Always there was something to do and they kept the activity of 4000 people flowing through the ship so it never seemed overly busy anywhere. I can see why she was CD of the year! She also surprised us with a SOAS and other goodies during the cruise. Our waitstaff team were the standouts...in the Horizons your time dining room was Sasa, Ted, and Jesson. They gave us exceptional service throughout the cruise and were always ready with a smile and jokes! It was amazing they took the time to surprise by serenading us recognizing our anniversary and my birthday with special cakes! Food was always very delicious and featured different port offerings, I have read others say the quality has gone down however we did not experience or have any reason to complain about the food on board anywhere. We also dined one evening in the outside seating of 555 Steakhouse and had a delicious meal with great service including witnessing the most amazing sunset during dinner. In addition the Italian speciality restaurant was perfect for both lunch or dinner, no complaints. Guys burgers and fries yum, Blue Iguana yum, sea day BBQ yum, as well as the salad creations on the Serenity deck. Did not have time to try JiJis, Going through food withdraw just typing about all of these. The Playlist Productions on board were wonderful, the shows we saw were The Welcome Show, FLICK and America Rocks. The liquid lounge is a different concept however sitting in the upper section we could see everything perfectly fine. The 80s glow party on the Lido started great but fell flat fast, port intensive cruise so maybe all were as tired as us. Jamie did a great job keeping everything going with spunk and a smile. I do not believe we had the opportunity to see everything the ship had to offer however packed as much fun as we could into an 8 day itinerary. Due to physical limitations I did not make use of the sports deck or water slides however looked fun! Embarking and disembarking were well executed, no problems except the early time getting off the ship. The ship itself was always spotless and we always saw someone cleaning or doing routine maintenance. The crew on board was friendly and always acknowledged everyone quickly. The Vista is a gorgeous ship and never felt over crowded...we loved our first Carnival Cruise! Read Less

This is Carnivals newest ship, Carnival Vista. It is a beautiful ship, very nicely done! The ship is quite spacious, we never felt crowded at any time on the ship. The embarkation experience was flawless, the room was a Balcony Stateroom and was of average size. The staff members were always friendly and helpful, especially our cabin steward, who was always gracious. The food was better than on other Carnival ships we have sailed on. I have found the food on most Carnival ships to be lackluster and not very flavorful, but not this ship! The food was excellently prepared each day and presented very nicely. We usually dine at specialty restaurants, but we were very pleased with the food at the dining room and the new dining room is beautiful. The service was not always up to par, I think the waiters and their staff get overwhelmed at times. I do not have anything negative to say because it was a great experience. Read Less

After waiting for over a year we were excited about cruising on the new Carnival Vista leaving Barcelona Spain on Sept 23rd 2016. It start with only two of us but our group grew to twelve quickly. We planned our trip months in advance using helpful travel tips from this board. Our 4 days in Barcelona were a lot of fun. We enjoyed the history and beauty of the city. Of course the food and the Sangria were big hits also. Our boarding day came to quickly. We took 2 taxi's to the ship due to luggage issues. We were met by a nice porter who waited for everyone to arrive on the pier. we went inside the cruise terminal and started the check in procedures. We had a group photo taken and were on board in no time at all. First we went to our forward cabin at the bow of the ship. our room was very nice and we dropped off our carry on baggage. The ship is very beautiful and clean. The food is very substandard and you could tell Carnival has taken a nose dive on the quality of their food they serve. The bar service was terrible and it was evident they cut corners on the drinks they made. No table clothes in the main dinning room except on dress up night. Improvement needed. The Guy's hamburger diner was good. Entertainment was outstanding. We also enjoyed the first run movies at the IMax theater. Service was a little strained like they were understaffed. Senior officers and customer service were a tad unfriendly. Ports were excellent and we also took advantage of Barcelona. We compared Carnivals prices and size of excursions and chose to plan our own. We would like to cruise on this ship again but hope Carnival improves their food and drinks. Bring back the table clothes. Read Less

Fantastic Ship . requires many more days to explore without daily excursions. Can't wait to go again. Loved the Havana Suites and Cabana local and private access. We were pleased to see our cruise director JAMIE again. She was on our Carnival Sunshine Cruise in 2014 (December). The PLAYLIST Production Crew was phenomenal. FLICK was great, but all 4 shows are a must see. The Cast of 12 featured at least 6 fantastic SINGERS/Dancers combos with some amazing Duets as well. We would see each of the shows again if possible. The Seafood Shack was yummy and worth the up-charge. The Bonsai Sushi restaurant was also excellent and made for a nice upgrade for the dinning room. Price was also reasonable. The SkyRide was lots of fun... but the SkyWalk was scary for the inexperienced. The Vista is tastefully decorated and by far the most Beautiful Carnival Ship we have sailed to date. The worst ship we have ever been on. Not customer focused, food in mdr was awful, service was poor, Lido dining was always a mess, not enough seating, long lines. They refunded the bubbles program which was extremely disappointing as my husband is a diabetic and has few options. The ship pathways are crooked and uneven, I fell more than once. The laundry room was filthy every time I went in there. In some ports we had to go through security twice, once on land and again on the boat. Very slow and long lines to get back on the ship, especially at Naples. Paid for an excursion in Rome and the guide spoke poor English. They forgot about the cruise critic meet and greet so there were no drinks and no apps. They finally came and said we could have one drink but kicked us out of the room because it was needed for someone else. I felt like we were no more than a number. Not customer service friendly at all. Read Less

I chose this cruise because I've always enjoyed the other cruises I've taken with Carnival. A few weeks before we sailed, the cruise line called and asked if I would like to upgrade to a balcony cabin and of course I did. When we first saw the cabin I was quite pleased as it had 2 bathrooms, 2 TV's, a sofa and a balcony. My first thoughts were, this is wonderful!! BUT is was NOT. Around 2:30 am a huge crashing, scraping noise brought me to my feet in a panic. I thought the ship had hit something but no announcement came so I called the service desk to inquire. I was told our cabin is directly below the galley! Imagine my surprise! At no time did anyone tell me this when I upgraded. The next morning I was informed there was nowhere else on the ship to move us as it was completely booked, however, the desk would call the galley to ask them to keep down the noise. For the next 10 nights we experienced the same racket. We had booked all the shore excursions in all the ports but we were so completely exhausted from lack of sleep that is was very difficult to enjoy them. While the ship did give us a partial credit for the upgrade, it did not make up for the torment and lack of sleep we went through. The crew and staff were excellent, but whoever put a suite under the galley should be strung up for being so completely stupid. Read Less

First of all I have to commend the staff of the Guest Services desk who were phenomenal. They helped me out since the airline left my bag in New York. They also let me use their international telephone to make phone calls to airlines in order to change my departure plans. They also let me log into the upgraded computer plan and then adjust the charges back down to a lesser plan. The staff of Guest Services changed my rating of the cruise from poor to average. I had a cove balcony cabin which was fine. Cabin steward was not very helpful and rarely seen. Had dinner in the dining room the first night - slow service, cold food no table clothes. My travel companions would not eat in the dining room again instead going up to the buffet. I know that cruising has changed, but it is no longer the value vacation it used to be. Carnival now charges for movies on the cabin television as well as the IMAX theater on board and everywhere else they could make a buck. One bloody mary was $12.99! The room service menu has cut back on "free" offerings and now charges for some items like chicken wings. Come on folks - what happened???? The shops on board were extremely overpriced - more so than usual. I realize that since we were not able to go to Turkey we had to pay the VAT tax on both food,& beverage and on board gift shop purchases. This is the last time I will sail on Carnival. Sorry, but you have cut so many amenities and now it's just tacky. Read Less

I wanted to cruise to the Mediterranean and wanted to see several places and this seemed to be the best say to accomplish that . It has been awhile since we cruised with Carnival and for the most part the ship wasnt that much different than the others. What was different is they are only trying harder to get your last dollar. Half way thru the cruise they tacked on a 24 percent tax to everything you did or purchased on the cruise. They have a new IMAX well yes for extra $12.50 per person charge each movie. The food was the same thing over and over every night unless you paid extra to dine in the extra pay restaurants. I have always thought the drinks and pictures were over priced but they seems to just get worse about trying to get every dollar they can. We had a massage and facial while on the ship and instead of it being a relaxing experience they made you feel like you had to buy there products totaling over $500 for what they tried to sell me, that is not relaxing to me. The ports were awesome the experience with carnival, I will give it a 4.Our cabin was near the liquid lounge and our cabin rocked all night long to the beat of the music so that was not relaxing either. All in all not a very good experience. Read Less

As travel agent, always interested in personal experience to better sell the product. From almost 40 cruises taken, I consider this cruise the BEST! The itinerary, the activities on the ship, the eating and drinking venues! My only regret was not having enough time to try more dining options and more activities! Closed down the Havana Club every night, loved the IMAX, acquired a taste for martinis at the Alchemy Bar!!! Steakhouse dining was the BEST! Buy's hamburgers were amazing! Skyride was awesome! I really liked the idea of having different breakfast options without having to fight the crowds in the Lido Deck. The Havana Club was VERY cool!I was disappointed with the clam chowder, but the main dining room food was good. I was not able to try the conk fritters. I was disappointed with the cake and brownies in the Bake Shop, but I waited for the freshly-baked chocolate cookies every afternoon. I would sail again and not go ashore where I've visited previously so I can enjoy the ship! LOVED IT! Read Less

This was our best cruise ever. We almost cry when we disembark. The ship was new. Food was excellent (went with Costa and MSC before so I can compare the standards). Staff super friendly. Cabins were wonderful. There were no lines at the buffet. The breakfast was so rich and there was free sunday, pizza, coffee and home-made ice-cream until late hours. My daughter loved the entertainment on the ship (she is 10 years old). Waterslides, bingo, night shows, movies on the top floor with free popcorn, free movies to pick on the cabin TV, free room service (we ordered breakfast every morning in our cabin) etc. The embarkation was smooth and the same was with disembarkation. The most important was that you felt that there was no-one on the ship but you. Not overcrawded like MSC and Costa. If you are planning to cruise the Vista is exceptional. I highly recommend. Can't wait for their new ship (Horizon). Read Less

The cruise was very smooth and well operated from the on boarding to the debarkation. The new "choose you time" for on boarding must be working as it was the fastest we have ever gotten on a ship from the time we walked into the terminal. The crew was well trained and there were very few "start up" issues. The food selections in the Lido restaurant were limited however all of the upscale restaurants were extremely good. The Capitano and Fahrenheit were exceptional. The Spa and Casino staff were awesome. The only are where we see Carnival making an improvement is with the elevators. The ship has a very large passenger capacity and they quite simply don't seem to have enough elevators to handle the load in a timely fashion. We would have loved to have ported in Turkey but completely understand the reasoning behind changing the itinerary. We will likely do this cruise again when the Horizon launches next year. Read Less

VISTA - No Elegance. Plain, contemporary style décor and furnishings. Only white dining room tablecloths on formal nights. No enforcement of dress code (shorts and no collar t-shirts at dinner). Poor quality beef served, except at the specialty steak restaurant and in the dining room on formal nights. Buffet entrees were poorly prepared and cool. Liked the Italian and Asian restaurants at lunch at no extra charge, and Mexican and Pizza venues. Hamburgers over done and cool, french fries limp and cold. No International café next to the coffee café for different goodies of all kinds. Likes the ice cream serve at lunchtime. Service is still good in the dining room and cabins, as you would expect. Very small show floor and all acts extending into the seating area, making it hard to see through people. Many views blocked by columns. Shows were mostly poor or of crude taste and offensive behavior, with the exception of the violinists in the atrium. No appropriate music to dance to in entertainment/bar areas. Had to go to the Micro-brewery to dance to popular great guitar music. No typically free entrance to the therapy Spa, without $119 fee to join a membership. We like to use it on cold bad weather days and is usually less crowded, with better jets and hotter. The 8 hot tubs around this huge ship were inadequate to handle the usage. One back deck hot tube/pool area reserved at times for suite cabin usage. Couldn’t hear movies outside on deck at night due to noise. Water slides terrific. Giant ship, get ready to do lots of walking. No small fun activities like on smaller, more elegant Carnival ships. Read Less
