I cannot tell how excited my family was for this cruise! With the exception of a few, my concierge John, our wait staff (Amazing) and the ladies who did our nails and the manager of the spa...Everyone else seemed like they were being held captive! I kept asking "how long have you been on"? It was insane! The activities director Sucked! Seriously, my daughter is 31 and she was bored out of her ...

Subpar for carnival

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Carnival Luminosa

Let’s start with the good Everyone was very nice and worked very hard to begin with, the food was the worst I’ve ever had on a carnival ship, everything was cold not many options. Also, it was like the people that were serving the food was trying to limit what you can eat. That’s very disappointing next the cruise Director can use more training you could never hear him, and he did not energize ...

Luminosa needs to retire

Balcony cabin was sad. The chairs on the balcony were stained and yellow. The bed was so uncomfortable. Mattress needs replaced. The food was just bland and room temperature. The buffet on the lido deck was small and the ice machines were always broken. Watching everyone uses the same scoop over and over to get ice out of a plastic container was nasty. The dining room staff seemed ...

A Mixed Experience Aboard the Carnival Luminosa Cruise

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Carnival Luminosa

My recent cruise aboard the Carnival Luminosa was a mixed experience, marred by a significant issue that unfortunately affected our enjoyment throughout the trip. While there were several positive aspects to highlight, the persistent smell of cigarettes in our room proved to be a major inconvenience and detriment to our overall experience. Firstly, I must commend the Carnival Luminosa's staff ...

Worst cruise ship ever

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Carnival Luminosa

I have been on 25 cruises or more, and have cruised with most cruise lines. The carnival Luminoso was the worst cruise ship I have ever been on. The rooms were dated which I could live with and the room steward was very nice and did introduce himself to us. The food was sub par and so disappointing that my son and I actually lost weight during the cruise. The buffet was like a cafeteria type ...

Alaskan disappointment

I booked the grand vista suite on this cruise because it was offered to me as a last minute upgrade. I have never been more dissatisfied with a decision in my life. The boat is dated quite badly, the room steward took 7 times asked to bring a simple wine opener. You would never know you were a suite guest by the way they treated you. The only reason the cruise wasn’t a disaster was the ports, ...

San Francisco to Alaska

Wanted to see Alaska again without traveling to Seattle or further--mistake San Francisco port is not worth it, never again. The line to drop luggage was an hour long, only 2 porters for 5000 people! Oh and no restrooms until heading to ship! Then another line to get to go inside terminal, we went to platinum and up line and it took twice as long as regular line, there were not enough carnival ...

Sailor beware

We chose this cruise for the Alaska itinerary. The ports were amazing. However, the ship, service and food left so much to be desired. Everything from start to finish was extremely disorganized. Overall, the staff were pleasant but most of them just didn't seem to have been trained properly. This was our 9th cruise with Carnival and up until this cruise we've been very happy with Carnival. Our ...

You get what you pay for

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Carnival Spirit

We chose this sailing because the price for 2 people in a balcony. But we soon found out why. Our balcony was so spongy we were afraid if both of us were using it at the same time we were risking collapse. Also upon boarding we headed to the serenity adult section of the deck. The pool out there was dark green! And people were using it the entire trip with it like this. The night of boarding we ...

Mediocre Food, Mediocre Cabin, Mediocre Entertainment

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Carnival Splendor

User Avatar

Carnival has gone downhill since our last cruise with them in 2007. The food was nothing special and the portions were small. You now have to pay for cabin food service. The entertainment was blah, lip-synced dance reviews. In 2007 we had live bands and real singers. Lido buffet has country-based themes daily but no published schedule. Had food that I still talk about today on 2007 ...
